What's up, everyone? Happy Friday. It's episode 85. Welcome back to the show.
hey guys it's Jacqueline happy Friday welcome back to the show
I have this weird stage fright right now. I'm in my kitchen at my mom's house and she's in the
living room and I feel like she can overhear me and I've never had anyone this close listening to
me record the show. I don't know why it's weird. It's my mom. But anyways, happy Friday. I hope
you're having a good Thanksgiving weekend with your family. I'm home for a month now. So this
has been great. Oh, by the way, first off, if you're new, go ahead and subscribe to the podcast
on the Apple podcast app. Go over to YouTube, subscribe to watch the video podcast Monday
through Friday. And it's resuming in January, by the way, you can go back and watch like 40 of the
previous episodes if you want. And yeah, let's just get into it. I, this is going to be a check
in checkout episode guys. It's like 9 PM. I'm using a mobile hotspot to upload, upload this
bitch. Cause my mom doesn't have wifi. Okay. My mom doesn't have wifi. I'm using my mobile hops
hotspot and if this is too long it won't it won't go up today and I'll fail at doing the 70s a week
so we can't have that I'm going to recap my travel day on Thanksgiving morning start at 3 30 and I'm
going to talk about my Thanksgiving yesterday being home for the first time in a year and
the sensory overload and of seeing everything for the first time again I'm going to talk about how
I ruined Thanksgiving or I didn't really ruin it but we'll get into it let's see and like what we
did today for Friday, but am I like talking to my grandma and stuff? So anyways, I'm going to just
do it, do a real quick recap. Uh, I'm drinking guys. I'm drinking a little red tonight. My mom's
got this Indian Wells Chateau St. Michelle, I think. Is that what it is? I don't know. We, uh,
we got pretty lit before I went to a tree nursery today and it was a, it was a good time. Go over to
my Instagram. I think it'll still be up if you're watching it in the next 24 hours. It's a good
time, anyways, so let's talk about it, 3 30 a.m., alarm goes off, take a shower, wash off my spray
tan, god damn, I gotta tell the night before story when I got my spray tan, I gotta tell you guys
about that, whatever, it's important, I got kind of, I don't know, I don't want to say, it's not
like I was reprimanded when I walked in the spray tan place, it was just, like, bad vibes and
cattiness immediately, and I was, like, oh my god, like, hi, last name, and I'm, like, oh, I'm new,
I'm here for a spray tan. It's my first time. Oh, okay. Um, well, let me get my manager. I'm
new. I'm in training. And then next girl, there's like three girls. Oh, where are you from? And
like all this shit. And I was so uncomfortable. I'm like, what's going on? I just want to get a
spray tan. I want a two with a bronzing, bronzing stuff in it. I want to check in, check out like
this podcast. I don't know. It was weird. Cause I haven't had a lot of social interaction this
year, especially with other girls in my age group. And it felt like this sizing up thing. I was like,
I'm a I'm just a customer trying to get a spray tan and I was like I was just letting it loose
like hey you know I'm going to hang out with my grandpa I want to look hot I'm like I want to look
hot for my grandpa when I'm hanging out this holiday season and I just need a tan help me
out look at me I'm blonde and I'm pale I need help so they I kind of like joked with them like
they kind of you're like okay this girl's not we don't need to be intimidated it's all good
I walk in in the most I walked into my top to bottom black Walmart outfit black Hanes
XL hoodie got in the men's section $6.99 and then I get the XL sweatpants these are this is my spray
tan uniform because I don't want it to get all over my nice clothes anyways I did that the night
before I flew out I need to cut to the chase 3 30 wake up call I got an uber coming 4 30 I think it
was right yeah showered off my spray tan packed my bags the last remaining stuff uh like made sure
all the shit was locked in my apartment I felt weird to like leave the place I'm like oh I won't
be here for a month and uh yeah I like called an uber it took a half an hour it was all good
it was like came at five I was cutting close my plane left us do you guys want to know the
itinerary is this important to know the details uh basically I made my flight guys oh my god
hottest man ever on the plane I was just like fuck my life this always happens it was a good
sound. I'm like, well, you're living here and you're going to see your family in Washington.
So we're relatable. We're that's relatable. Um, we come from the same land. If that's what you're
doing. He was like me, I'm the type of chick in the airport that not chick in the airport. I'm a
type of passenger who is the last body on board. I let everyone stand in line, look, look in loss,
looking like, you know, bored as shit, standing there with their luggage, waiting to board the
plane I let everyone do that first class second all the you know coach first whatever there's
like section ABC it's like everyone stands in line forever and I don't do that I sit back I
found a back like back of the terminal location my own bench sat there and I chilled for a while
and I looked off to my left and there's another guy doing the same fucking thing tatted up on the
arms he got it you know rolled up his flannel all nice he saw his tattoos built my height range you
got to know if you're, if you're a regular listener, you know, my height range, I don't
need to say it. Good hairline, all the, all the things I, I was like, damn, but he was sitting
back. I'm like, well, are you just copying me? Cause after a while it was like, okay, everyone's
boarding. Why are you still here? He ended up getting, so I, I let him get up first. Cause of
course I'm the last person on the plane. He gets on, ends up sitting a row in front of me. I'm
like, yeah, it's meant to be. And then he got off and we ended up getting baggage together
because I checked a bag. Anyways, that was my plane experience. Easy flight came into Seattle
and the clouds. It was great. It was really cool to see the city from above and all the mountains.
And I don't know. So flew in, got picked up, went home. Guys, immediately I found out my grandpa
wasn't feeling well this week. I'm so depressed. Our Thanksgiving was going to be low key. It was
going to be my immediate family minus my brother, unfortunately, and then my grandma and grandpa.
but my grandpa's been sick this week so they weren't gonna mess around and have him um you
know he wasn't gonna come to the the dinner so it was literally just the four of us my mom my mom
my mom's boyfriend my sister and me and it was great we had a really just chill day all day like
we watched the dog show first thing I did when I came home after the airport was uh I just like
ran through the house I was looking at everything my mom just did a bathroom remodel so I checked
out I was like what the fuck I used to get ready for high school in here it's so nice and cool and
new and everything's classy I went to the back bedroom and immediately uh guys my mom bless her
heart bought these life-size skeletons I think I played the audio when she first bought them
the noise they make she parked those bitches in my bedroom and they're standing and like the first
thing you see when you walk in here these two the the boy skeleton the man is like six two and the
woman's like five eight they're tall as fuck they're wearing like medieval gar like dresses
and shit so that's what I walked into when I saw my bedroom got immediately terrified
I decided that um guys I feel like I'm rushing this because I'm like I got a hot spot to upload
this and I still have the stage fright like my mom's listening mom I think she's on the phone
that's good she's talking I'm talking that's all good uh but no guys I went into my old purple
bedroom and I'm like this is where I'm gonna do yoga I'm gonna kind of clear it out because my mom
uses that as a storage closet now that there's no kids and I think I'm gonna set up my mat
because it's a hardwood floor and I'll um do my yoga in there anyways Thanksgiving was chill uh
let's get into the the meal the afternoon my whole fit like everyone was kind of well my
sister and mom they drink they were drinking earlier in the day they were like my sister I
had, like, two Bloody Marys before I showed up, which was funny. God bless her. I love when my
sister drinks. It's, like, the funnest shit, and I, it's, I don't know, like, every time we come
together now, that's part of what we do, and I think when we were younger, I don't know why,
like, college age, when we were definitely, like, partying every weekend, just binge drinking,
like, doing that shit, we didn't really drink a lot when we hung out at home together for the
holidays but now it's weird like that's what we do it so it's fun so I showed up my sister's all
like fucking you know loosey-goosey and she's like do you want to drink and I I know myself
if I drink in the morning I'm it's so it's not I can't do that I mean I can but for the whole day
we weren't gonna eat dinner till five I was like fuck so I started drinking wine and having dinner
we ate dinner like five but uh what was I gonna say oh basically the day was you know chilling
around the couch watching the dog show making fun of the dog show fashion oh my god the dogs are so
cute uh catching up a family talking about life uh making oysters on the barbecue building fires
for my mom we have a little fire in our uh in our living room keeping that going yeah when the meal
rolled around it was amazing it was amazing and guys I guess you want the juicy details of me
ruining um Thanksgiving I ruined dessert okay so here's what happened uh
I'll say this I got confronted about Harry Styles wearing a dress and uh
they had their opinion on it and I had my opinion on it and it clashed and the entire time I was
like over over selling my points about it trying to convince them without realizing because I was
just too in the zone with my thought process I was trying to show them the other perspective
and they weren't having it no matter what I said they were not having it and it got heated it got
well it got like passionate my family we like talk passionately about different things and
especially when we disagree, but at the end of it, my mom's boyfriend was like, you know what,
Jacqueline, normally I, I side with you on these kinds of things, but I got to tell you, you know,
you don't always have to convince the other side, you don't always have to do that, and I,
I caught myself, I'm like, that's what I was trying to do, and anyways, it was a weird ending
to the, because it was, like, pre-dessert, I had to, like, settle myself down, like, Jacqueline,
what was I like we were fine it wasn't anything where the night was ruined but I was like you
don't I didn't notice myself doing it and so when he said that I'm like my mom's boyfriend said that
I'm like oh shit you're right and I'm at this age now and I've mentioned this before this is good
good thing to chime in and say about my personal growth this year is I'm so receptive and I'm so
willing to take constructive advice about my behavior and like things that I don't see because
I want to improve I want to be a better person every day and I don't want to be stubborn because
I've witnessed family members in the past just like that never works I'm never gonna like bend
over and just be like let someone mold me and change me but I'm gonna I took it in I
looked at what I did I'm like yeah Jocelyn you didn't have to like go in that hard and defend
Harry Styles and Vogue like I was basically on my mom and sister's side on some of it and then
I was also on the I'm you guys I did an entire segment of the podcast about
Harry on the cover of Vogue in a dress like I've already gone through it so
uh I was mentioning the artistic avant-garde elements of that cover and Vogue doing that as a
statement not necessarily a literal men should wear dresses thing and they didn't have any they
weren't into it so whatever that was their dessert pre-dessert shit show um my mom made the best
dinner I was like I've been eating the same like frozen fucking frozen vegetables and protein like
chicken just my boring bro food for like the entire year I don't really eat out a lot or go
to restaurants or order food and I was like whoa this is so nice like it's so nice and my mom had
the cranberry sauce in the can that I really wanted. What else can I tell you guys that I'm,
that I'm like, I've mentioned before I came home that you, you might want an update about mom's
doing well. Sister's doing amazing. Mom's boyfriend's doing amazing. Everyone's good.
I saw my grandma today. We'll go into today. I know it was a really good first day home. Cause I,
I don't know. It was different. My mom was like, yep, this is a,
this is a 2020 Thanksgiving there's like four people here it was also usually the whole family
gets together my aunts uncles cousins everyone but this was the year for whatever reason it
worked out that my mom's um sisters and brothers were going to the opposite side of the family's
houses so normally they would come here and I think we were going to do that anyways
I know there was limits but I'm pretty sure we would have all gathered if they weren't going to
the other families but are these boring details I'm telling you like my whole life story this is
an audio vlog this is an audio diary I gotta get this up before midnight to stay on my seven days
a week shit and honestly I'm so excited because next week I'm gonna start going to my mom's office
to do this I'm gonna work at her office and podcast there and so it's gonna feel like I'll
be in the flow it'll do it'll be a morning show oh god there's the hiccups but yeah that was uh
Thanksgiving and let's get into, oh, I slept on the couch. I slept on the couch and I had the
most weak, loosey goosey, thin blanket to cover myself with. And I'm in this cold ass house. We
had a fire going and I don't think my, we didn't have the heat on. I don't think I froze so much
on the couch. I froze. I was curling myself up in a little ball and I have a big hood. I wore a big
hoodie and I like put my arms inside and I was like like in a little fetal position all night
and then I woke up to my mom at like 4 a.m she woke up literally woke up at 4 30 and worked out
she rode like 10 000 meters she has a concept rower in the garage my god she like did the
dishes I heard that at like four in the morning and then she goes in rows 10 000 meters but when
she woke up she noticed I was like in the fetal position freezing my ass off and so she brought
her big comforter from her bed and like tucked me in and I slept like three more hours I got nine
hours of sleep it was great I love sleeping on the couch when I'm home I almost prefer it it's like
I don't know what it is it makes me feel so at home I don't know and like the best thing ever
is when you're little and you do that and then you get picked up and sent like someone carries
you to bed if you fall asleep on the couch I don't know but let my mom take care of me she loves
you know waiting on me help you know making me breakfast all that fun stuff it's it's the best
oh my god why am i rushing this um shit so this morning we basically woke up chilled
uh talked a lot sat in the kitchen this is like what my family does when i come home we
sit in the kitchen we drink black coffee look at the view we drove to starbucks we actually
took a little joy ride around the neighborhood I grew up in saw my old house my old farmhouse
I've mentioned it's a farmhouse with a toilet in the in the barn that we used to use it's like
the cow barn that was there that had no cows in it that we lived at yeah we went and drove by that
saw my old neighbors she's like oh yeah this family moved here and this like everything's
different but the same if you know what I mean it's almost like the houses the people shuffle
around like I don't know uh so we went to Starbucks and came and just sat this is what my
family does we sit around we drink black coffee we talk about life talk about things going on with
everyone it's so peaceful and we have a great view here at my mom's house of it's just like all
farmland and we watch the the swans and the geese out in the fields and there's neighbors going on
bike rides and um my grandma ended up coming over today and saying hi and it was so so emotional
like I was so sad because she so I saw her car pull in I'm like oh my god grandma grandma and
I'm like what do I do like she technically like grandpa's sick what do like I want to hug her
can't do that it was a really strange we ended up uh social distancing in the house
I grabbed a mask like a surgical good one and uh I walked in the living room she's on the opposite
end like 20 feet away I'm like grandma she's like Jacqueline I'm like grandma I want to hug you what
do I do she's like no no no we can't this is good but hi like it was so weird and then she sat at
the at one of our like bar height like she had a set at a table in our living room and then
we sat away at the couches and talked for like a good hour or so and caught up. And
my grandpa's feeling a lot better, but it was so fucked up yesterday. Apparently
my mom offered to give my, like deliver Thanksgiving food for my grandma and grandpa
because they were obviously alone because my grandpa has been sick. And he's just, he just
has, I think a normal flu. He's, I don't think he has COVID. They don't think he does.
so the whole day grandma's like yeah it was like 2 p.m and i thought meals on wheels is showing up
we're gonna get you know a little delivery of thanksgiving meal from you know from jody that's
my mom and then 3 p.m goes on by no food no food's delivered yeah 4 p.m nothing's coming to the house
yet five so they were literally sitting and waiting for us to bring them food but some sort
of miscommunication happened my mom thought she said no in an email or a text or whatever and
it was just a complete miscommunication I felt so bad my grandpa all my grandpa wanted grandma's
like grandpa your dad that was she said my mom's like he just wants mashed potatoes and gravy
that's all he wants so my aunt my whole family lives in like a five mile radius out here
my aunt uh had saved the day they got they went to my grandma you know went over to her house
which is closer to theirs and got him a whole like plate of food and he ate it which is good
because he hasn't had an appetite um shit let's see that's what happened she left
and then we went oh my god be the funnest afternoon I built another fire my mom's got
all this wood stacked up and I gotta go get it she's like get two locks and five kindling and
I'm out there I'm like build a mama fuck did that uh we got some wine going some afternoon drinks
I think my mom and sister were drinking like a whiskey sour or something like that I can't
remember old fashions something like that we have we have whiskey and they were then we started
playing music and dancing together and it was so fun we were just having a good ass afternoon
pre tree nursery turn up and then we ended up driving out my mom's boyfriend was here the whole
time he doesn't well he doesn't it's something he doesn't drink he just wasn't like turning up
with us well he was driving obviously that's why and then we uh went to a little nursery
looked at trees my mom likes house plants and chill landscapes our whole house is like
in english no what's the vibe it's like italian landscaping i don't know but she's looking at
we're it's like dark out and raining and we're out looking at trees in this nursery like okay
and then uh but we were so lit we were just having the funnest fucking afternoon drinking and
uh, I drink like my, when I say drinking to me, it's like, I had about a fourth a bottle of wine
and I'm like, I'm turning it up. We had a, what is it? San Giovese, I think Santa Mark. No,
what San Giovese? What am I saying? I had a Pinot Grigio. That's really good. This is a,
the red I'm drinking right now. I'm not really barely drinking any is it's not my favorite.
it's all good it's like a I don't know whatever but after the nursery we drove out to Anacortes
which is like 20 minutes it's out towards the San Juan Islands it's out I don't know how to
describe it basically we live an hour north of Seattle out in a bunch of farmland that's where
I'm from but uh excuse me Anacortes is out towards the water I don't know anyways we went out there
for dinner to our favorite Italian place it's called Ciao Bella and they've been shut down
apparently we thought they were open we didn't know and so we were calling they weren't answering
we got all excited we had our order all ready to order and pick up ended up going to Anthony's
which is great uh just sat out on the patio with some heaters and had some like lobster and fries
and it's really good um I love eating seafood when I come home I feel like I eat so much
fucking lobster and crab and oysters. And yeah, now I'm here. It's really the, that's the gist
of my day to day. And yesterday I just thought I'd check in and tell y'all, uh, I saw the shit
sprayer. I saw the shit sprayer today, which is not a common sight when I'm out in California
living in the city. Yeah. The shit sprayer, if you're, if you're new to farming is the tractor
hooked up to some sort of pipe that goes to some sort of
shit irrigation system or whatever the fuck and it sprays shit and fertilizes
the soil and so that thing was when we went we went to starbucks this morning
all you see is a tractor blasting shit out the back with these sprayers and it's so funny because
i'm like i don't know you have to see it it's it's funny because if you're i i'm now realizing
and being gone for a year being in the city like not being around farms if you never see that and
all of a sudden you do it's such a startling like what the fuck is going on that's not if you know
that's not mud and it's just cow shit like it's funny to see so I saw that let me check my notes
here I did write my every time something funny happened I wrote it down um oh my mom well these
are things my mom we're gonna podcast together just not tonight because I don't know I said
this I said I don't want to make this whole month home a forced podcasting thing I want to it's
gonna be whatever fits in the day you know what I mean like I want to be with family I want to be
in the moment I don't want to take a bunch of time like forcing people to do interviews you know
that's why I didn't set up video this month is because it's all about being with family and I
feel like I don't know maybe should I get into the deep stuff let's see what's funny on this
note thing here. So we're, my mom's got a Walmart TV story to tell. She's got a story to tell about
my skin. It's funny as fuck. Um, uh, what else is here? She's got a prisoner story. We'll go into
these things when we talk on the podcast another time. Um, fucking one thing I did or no, I won't
go into, I just want to say a deep thought and I'm going to end this cause I really want, I guess I
got, what do I have to upload this? Uh, hotspot. I like my mom is things. I don't know why the
wifi isn't, it's not, I don't know why it's not hooked up. I don't, she's a modern woman. She's
got technology left in her. I don't know how she does it. She just uses her phone here. Her office
is really close to her house. So she's, she's always there anyways. But anyways, uh, deep
thought it's the, this is the longest I've ever been away from Washington. It's been exactly a
year. The last time I was home was last Thanksgiving and it's cold as shit. I know I don't like the
cold necessarily. Like I, I guess I'm not used to it. The clouds are definitely already not
affecting me, but I noticed them. The dark gray, heavy rainy clouds are like, it's a vibe. It's a
mood. You just want to be inside and like cozy up. I don't know. I forgot what it's like to live
in that most days of the year. And then, um, it's so weird. I had like sensory overload being away
for so long and coming back to my mom's house and be like, okay, new oven, new fridge, new
bathroom, a new dishwasher. Everything's like different or new. She has a new car. My sister
has a new car. Um, my grandma's hair was shorter. Everyone looks a little bit older. It's like
weird as fuck I don't know um and it it's also a great reminder that I feel so full I feel so full
of love and gratitude and just appreciation for um my family like we were literally sitting and
like we talked basically today was just like the funnest converse conversations over coffee kind
of day before we turn up and went and looked at the fucking house plants my mom wanted to see
uh we just talk in such an open way I was telling her about all the like out there things I've ever
done and she's like Jacqueline oh my gosh I know as a mom I'm always gonna say this and you know
I'm gonna be concerned for your safety like she was saying all that as a mom like but she's like
I totally accept you and your choices and want you to be happy and it's so like I've got the
best setup where I know I'm able to like I guess thrive in my life because it helps when you have
a supportive family around you and that they don't sit and pick you apart and judge you
this podcast is so much easier to do every day if I don't have to be paranoid about saying something
that my parents want to prove of or they're just like they get me they love me they don't care
which is awesome and you know I think my biggest thing on Thanksgiving when I
I'll end on this because again self-discipline juggling cut short check in check clock in clock
out you got a mobile hotspot to upload upload this bitch this is gonna be funny to look back on
this this month like the makeshift no wi-fi podcasting anyways um it was weird the first
thing that came to mind we did our little thanksgiving toast was like mom I'm so thankful
for you and the way you and and whatever you did when you raised me because
I don't think I would have persevered and thrived I don't think I'd be where I'm at today
this in 2020 and alone going through all that isolation getting myself out of depression like
getting myself to this point without observing how you will persevere through hard shit your
whole life and always taught us and gave us tools to be successful independent adults someday and
like it finally hit me that the reason I'm able to the reason I'm here today and I'm strong and
independent and capable is for my fucking mom and her parenting and I just always say like this
comes to mind whenever I'm struggling you know out in San Diego or having a hard time it's like
my mom would just take care of business and do this shit. I think about what would my mom do?
You know, she's hardy. She's got, she's strong. I mean, think about it. My mom woke up 4.30,
did dishes. I helped her. Don't worry. Okay. I unloaded and loaded today, by the way.
I'm like, mom, I want to help you anyway. I can't stop working. I want to help you.
Anyways, she's just like that though. She woke up at 4.30, did dishes clean. She's like doing her
morning exercise. Jesus Christ. Sleep in. Take the day off. It's Friday. We're hanging out.
Thanksgiving is truly a four-day weekend. It's just like, I love it so much. But yeah, it was
really kind of special to notice that in the moment. It came to me in the moment when we
cheered. I was like, holy shit, this is really truly what I'm thankful for this year. Because
you guys know I climb my climb myself out of a hole I'm doing this daily therapy session with
myself and it's helping me a lot but the steps I took to before this podcast over the last six
months were uh I was able to do that because literally because of my mom I have to I owe it
to her I obviously have my own willpower and you know I'm in the driver's seat making my own
choices but she definitely influenced me in a really positive way so cheers to that I'm gonna
go to bed now after I upload this tomorrow we're gonna have another I guess like chill day maybe
we'll I don't know it's so locked down here it's so locked down here and I realized there's not a
lot of outdoor dining's kind of a bitch like we froze our asses off outside by the the water
eating our lobster we were like fucking in thank god we got we had good coats on but
it's windy their outdoor fires aren't really doing it and it was like I don't know the fact
that we're even able to go out and eat lobster and have a nice Friday night dinner during this
pandemic I mean I'm fucking blessed but I realize in California it's warm we can sit outside and
it's not so tough to be at a restaurant but here it's like fucking freezing yeah I definitely uh
that this so far two days in I'm like yep cold not I don't hate it but I'm just like ah the sun
is really nice to always have around but anyways I'm gonna check out now get a toot-a-loo I'm gonna
upload this go to bed talk to you tomorrow hopefully I can get into an office or some
sort of wi-fi setup tomorrow so I don't feel rushed to I don't know whatever details behind
the scenes information um but yeah I hope you guys are all having a really good time family
hope if you're with your family or if you're not I hope you're you know taking a breath being like
you know it's not your fault it's shit going on in the world be easy on yourself about it um
this will pass we'll get through it even though it sucks but yeah love y'all thanks for tuning
in today. If you're new again, go over and subscribe on the Apple podcast app. Uh, if you
want, you can leave a review that helps me out. And then you can go over to my Instagram and
follow me there. I said, guys, I said, I wasn't going to do daily updates all day long of the
shit we're up to, but it's really hard not to. I was like, I want to be present. I don't want to
be on my phone documenting like my mom's like home decor and our meal for Thanksgiving and
