Starting point is 00:00:00 Take a look around the NFL after this week, and granted, we still have Carolina, who, by the way, if Carolina can pull an upset tonight, they're winning the shitty NFC South. And the 49ers are in the mix in the West as well, but neither one of those teams are Super Bowl contenders. Look around the NFL and tell me how many teams right now you think can win the Super Bowl. To me, there are clear-cut one or two teams. It might only be one. There might be a clear-cut one who is above the rest. Does that mean that somebody can't upset them? No.
Starting point is 00:00:32 But right now, when you look around and you look at the statistics and you look at the standings in the NFL and you ask yourself, which team do you legitimately believe could win the whole thing? How many teams exist? Let's get into that after these words. When you're flying Emirates business class, sipping your favorite cocktail at our onboard lounge, you'll see that your vacation isn't really over until your flight is over. Fly emirates, fly better From that first coffee of the day To dropping off your dry cleaning on the way From stepping onto the subway

Starting point is 00:01:50 at Capital One.ca.ca slash yes Terms and conditions apply. You've seen Colona change over the years and it's growing faster than ever. The city is working to make sure enough homes are being built for people of all incomes and stages of life.
Starting point is 00:02:04 But growth isn't just about more buildings. It's about building community. Every new project helps us fund the things that matter most, safe and dependable infrastructure, transportation options to keep us moving, and beautiful parks where we can relax, play, and connect.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Colonna is growing with purpose. You and Santa? Best rappers out there. Reese's wants to know, what about the best unwrapping moment? Reese's peanut butter cups put your unwrapping skills to the test. And with three cups of creamy peanut butter and smooth chocolate per pack, you get your practice in. Starting point is 00:02:47 Santa gets cookies. You get Rees. Nothing else is Rees. Ella McKay, coming to Theaters December 12th. Your father's here. Why? A heartwarming new comedy from James L. Brooks. I'm a different person.
Starting point is 00:03:00 I have never been in my life out this way about any other woman. Jesus! I wasn't counting your mother! It's a perfect holiday comedy about an imperfect family. You can use a scream, Ella. Starring Emma Mackey, Jeannie Lee Curtis, Camel Nanjani, Iowa Devery, with Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson. You should do that every afternoon.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Ella McKay. All right, so here's what we got. There is one team right now that is so clear-cut the favorite to win the Super Bowl. And you know who I'm already talking about, but you already know because it's obvious. If you watch the game last night at all, not that, you know, Tampa's a great team by any means. Tampa's, you know, minus 25 in the point differential. Tampa's not a team that's very good right now. They pulled off some miracles early in the year.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Tampa's lost three in a row. Baker's hurt now. They're a mess. But the Rams are clearly head and shoulders better than any other football team in the league. Like, it's not even remotely close. Like, do you really believe that the Bears who have played a shitty schedule? Do you think that the Bears can get into the playoffs and beat anybody? No.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Do you believe that Green Bay is going to beat anybody? I guess the only thing Green Bay has going for them is Green Bay has given up all of 202 points on the year. There aren't too many teams who've given up fewer than that. One of them is the Rams, who are clearly the best team in the NFL. One of them is the Texans who still have a long way to go to even get into the playoffs. like you look around the NFL today even though you've got a Patriots team that won nine games in a row is in the middle of a nine game winning streak
Starting point is 00:04:33 they've also beaten up on dopes look at what the Rams are doing and who they're doing it against I mean just look at the last two weeks for the Rams really look at the last three the last three weeks they have faced three teams that have a very good chance of being in the playoffs the bucks are more than likely despite all their issues the Bucks are going to win the South.
Starting point is 00:04:56 The Seahawks are probably a playoff team. 49ers, probably a playoff team. There may be three playoff teams that come out of the NFC West. Beat them all. Oh, the Ravens are smoking hot right now. Ravens aren't the best example. They beat the Ravens. Oh, the Colts are one of the great stories of the year.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Early in the year, they beat the Colts. They should have beaten the Eagles. So, I mean, you look at this, and you look at this team and how they're beating people, and how they're moving the ball offensively. And when they're facing shitty teams, very rarely, are they struggling to beat shitty teams? That's another key. Like, I'm watching the Lions yesterday,
Starting point is 00:05:31 and the Lions at one point are on the verge of losing to the two-win giants at home. This coming off a loss on the road to the Eagles, a game you have to have at home, 13 and a half point favorite. You're at home, and you have to put together a comeback drive. And basically, you got bailed out multiple times. You got bailed out by the fact that the Giants have nothing to play for
Starting point is 00:05:51 so they can just kind of line up and shoot for the touchdown instead of the field goal to beat you. They could have kicked a field goal and gone up by six and forced you into a position where you'd demarched the length of the field to score a touchdown and an extra point to beat them. Instead, they went for it on fourth down because why the hell not, they have two wins. They didn't convert.
Starting point is 00:06:07 You get the ball back. You march down the field. You get a long-ass field goal to tie it. And then you go to overtime, one play into overtime. You run it for 69 yards and a touchdown, and you hold them and you win the game. Like teams like the Lions are fucking lucky to be where they are right now. now. The Lions could
Starting point is 00:06:22 or should have would have lost to James Winston yesterday and their season looks a whole lot different. They're feeling really good about themselves right now and they're feeling lucky about themselves and they have to figure out how to turn it around on three days' rest and line up and play football on Thursday against the Packers and another game that they need to have. You look at the Rams, they just line up and just beat the shit out of people.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Like, oh, you play the Buccaneers, you're better than the Buccaneers? Hey, let's beat them 34 to 7. Oh, you think people think you've got a tight matchup with the Seahawks. Cool, played a tight game. You beat them. And they were up, I think they were up relatively large in that game at one point, too. Oh, the 49, oh, yeah, we'll just beat them by 16. Oh, but then
Starting point is 00:07:00 we play the Jaguars. Oh, you know, we beat them by 28. Oh, the Saints are one of the worst teams in the NFL. All right, cool, we smoked them by 34. Cool. Oh, the Ravens didn't have Lamar at this point. Cool, they scored three points against us. We beat them. We did what we had to do to beat them.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Colts, oh, the Colts are dominant. Look at them. They figured it out. Jones figured out, yeah, we beat them. And then they blow, the one hiccup on this whole thing is blowing the big lead to the Eagles. What were they up 19 to 7 or whatever? It was 26 to 7 in the fourth quarter and blew it. Other than that, like that's the hiccup. Like, yes, they've got two losses.
Starting point is 00:07:35 One is to the 49ers, cool. But one loss was one they had no business losing. So to me, they're dominant. And it's not just recency bias. It's not just because they beat the shit out of Tampa. And Tampa's clearly been proven to be a pretender. they ain't real. And now Baker's hurt.
Starting point is 00:07:52 So you see what Teddy Bridgewater can do. Teddy Bridgewater was coaching a high school football team a couple months ago. So now Teddy Bridgewater is going to come in and lead Tampa. Great, cool. You look at the standings in the NFL. And you look at where team's standing. You go, who do you think can legitimately win the Super Bowl? I can put the Eagles in there only because I see what they can do when they're right versus when they're wrong.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Like the Eagles have proven that, like every year they're inconsistent. Every year we question the Eagles and they get in. in, a couple of things work out their way, and they could do something. I will leave the Eagles in there because their defense is still fucking nasty. The Bears ain't one on the Super Bowl. I do not believe there's a team in the NFC North that can win the Super Bowl. I don't think Green Bay is consistent enough on offense. I don't think the Lions are fine, but I don't buy them.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Even though they're plus 83 in the point differential, which is one of the better point different differentials in the NFL. Now, my opinion can change. My biggest issue with the Lions is their offensive line is just dreadful. Their defense hasn't been as good either, which says something about the Eagles, that they were shut down by the Lions defense that let James Winston go out and torch them for most of the game. But I just don't think the Lions' offensive line can hold up well enough. And if Stafford has to deal with pressure, he ain't all that good,
Starting point is 00:09:09 and I think they're in trouble because their offensive lines bad. And I just, you're not going to convince me that the Bears, and I know that they can tell you that they play who's on their schedule, and you give them credit because they find a way to win these games that they may have otherwise lost. And yes, they have lost, what, one eight of their last nine, give them credit. They're beating the teams that are on the schedule. But the teams that are on the schedule happen to be the Steelers, who are now a 500 team, the Vikings who are dreadful with McCarthy, the giants who are one of the worst teams in the league,
Starting point is 00:09:40 the Bengals who are one of the worst teams record-wise. You look at these games they're winning. They had back-to-back 25-24 wins. I mean, like, great. They're a nice story. There's nothing wrong with the story of the bears. It's a cute story. It's fun, and they're finding ways to win games, and the coach looks brilliant.
Starting point is 00:09:57 That's why when a new coach gets a job, in the NFL, you can turn things around fast because you get a shitty schedule, and all of a sudden you look brilliant. We'll see. We'll see what happens whenever they have to line up and face anybody that's really worth a shit, which is something the Bears haven't really had to do. And it's something that, I mean, look, back-to-back weeks here, they're going to have to face. Let's see. They're going to have to face the Eagles and the Packers. And to end the season. Now, this is where you'll kind of see what the Bears are made of.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Because they're at the Eagles this next week. And the Eagles are hurting right now. You picked a bad time to have to face the Eagles. So Eagles on the road, Packers on the road, back-to-back weeks for the Bears. Browns, whatever. Then you get the Packers again at the 9. and the Lions. Those are all loseable games, other than the Browns. So as sexy as things are right now for the Bears, and they're pulling off a little close
Starting point is 00:10:54 victories against the shitty Steelers and the Vikings with J.J. McCarthy and the Giants and the Bengals. Let's see what happens. That can prove something. I don't buy the Bears at all. The Bears are just one of those teams, a new coach, and they're fun, and they're finding ways to win against bad teams, and that's fine. So around the NFL and the NFC right now, I believe the Rams can win the Super Bowl, and I believe the Eagles can win the Super Bowl. And I'm concerned about the Eagles. But right now, and things could change in a month. In a month, Matt, Stafford could get hurt.
Starting point is 00:11:29 In a month, the Rams could fall off a cliff. But the Rams do everything well. They block well. They run well. They defend well. They've given up fewer than 200 points already this year, less than 200 points, 179 points allowed. As we've discussed, you know how many other points in the league? teams in the league have given up 179 or fewer points.
Starting point is 00:11:48 The correct answer is nobody. Other than the Texans, those are the two teams. So they're dominant. So the Rams can win the Super Bowl and the AFC. I honest to God do not believe that. I don't believe there is a team in the AFC that can win the Super Bowl. As ridiculous as that may sound. I don't believe, like maybe Josh Allen will figure it out.
Starting point is 00:12:14 and maybe Pat Mahomes will and they pulled off a miracle yesterday to keep their season alive because if they lose that game, their season's over. So they had to win that. They won it good for them. They're alive. You're starting to see who Indianapolis really is. There is a chance that Indianapolis blows that division.
Starting point is 00:12:30 That was a big win for Jacksonville yesterday. But look at where the Texans are. The Texans essentially control their own destiny to win the division. Like technically they don't because of the Jaguars, but they do. The Texans could win out, which would mean two wins over the cold. and the Texans would win the AFC South. But there is not a team in the AFC South that I believe could win it.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I'm talking about the whole thing. And I don't believe in the Patriots. I think they're fine. Like, it sounds ridiculous. If the Rams lose the Super Bowl, it would be one of the greatest disasters ever. Like, it's one thing, you know, last year, you run into the snow with the Eagles and you can't beat them.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Fine, they could have, but they didn't. If the Rams lose the Super Bowl this year, it's one of the great disasters ever because if you look around the entire league right now there is no team other than the Rams that you can look at and say they're complete the Ravens are winning the AFC North right now
Starting point is 00:13:27 cool maybe they get hot in Lamar can slink but Lamar's never won playoff games even when they were good do you really believe the Patriots are going to go into the playoffs and beat anybody hell I still think in the AFC you're somehow going to end up with Josh Allen versus Pat Mahomes
Starting point is 00:13:44 in a big game in the playoffs. Does anybody believe in Denver? No. Chargers? No. No offensive line. Texans probably won't get in still, but they may. Jaguars, we'll see. Pittsburgh is six and five. Do we believe that Pittsburgh's going anywhere? No.
Starting point is 00:14:05 It's wild to say this, but like there is one clear-cut team at this moment that I believe can win the Super Bowl, and that's the Rams. And honestly, you know who might be number two? Seahawks. Those might be the two. And the Eagles, of course, because the Rams and the Eagles, and again, because the Eagles find a way. They pull off miracles in the playoffs. Not yesterday, but they tend to. They have issues, but somehow when it comes down to it, they're going to find a way to beat teams in the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:14:34 they probably shouldn't. Eagles, Rams, Seahawks. Those are the teams that on a week-in, week-out basis I watch and feel like have all of the things you need to be successful and to win. The AFC does not have one team I feel that way about. Not one. It's fascinating. Anyway, more to come.
