Despite controversies, Dodgers say visiting Trump White House was, quote, a really good experience. Let's read some of this story, shall we? Winning the World Series and earning the celebratory trip to the White House to see the president still isn't getting old for the Los Angeles Dodgers, even as they've won two championships in the past five years. In fairness, one of those was a Rona
Starting point is 00:01:51 championship. It doesn't count. You have now finally, with all the money you spend, you have now finally won a real championship. But let's not act like the Rona championship was something real. Thank you, Dodgers. Anyway, I digress. Manager Dave Roberts, for instance, particularly enjoyed the first peek at the Oval Office, which Dodgers players and staff rolled through single file after getting feted by President Donald Trump. I actually got a chance to take a photo in front of the Declaration of Independence, Roberts said Monday, of the national treasure hanging in the Oval Office. For myself, who's a history major, that's a picture I'm going to cherish for a long time. History, such as it is these days, was wedged into virtually every minute before and after the Dodgers were toasted in the East Room. tariffs that have roiled global markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Index was down 709 points,
Starting point is 00:02:51 or nearly 2%, as the Dodgers ceremony concluded around noon. About an hour after regaling the Dodgers, Trump took to a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to talk about tariffs. As Trump put it, the significant help afforded the ally in its war in Gaza. Now, can we get back to what this means to the Dodgers and why this is controversial, please? And as the Dodgers got ready to stretch and warm up for their Monday night game at Nationals Park, the Supreme Court sided with Trump lawyers and placed on hold a judge's order that Trump administration must bring back to the United States a Maryland father it had mistakenly deported to El Salvador unprecedented times indeed Trump is an
Starting point is 00:03:32 administration's and his administration's part in policies that a significant portion of the Dodgers fan base finds odious and even resulted in the scrubbing of Dodgers trailblazer Jackie Robinson's accomplishments from a government website made this trip a loaded proposition. Yet, unlike 2019 when current Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts and roughly half the 2018 champion Red Sox skipped the trip to Trump's White House, the Dodgers, save injured star Freddie Freeman, were all present and accounted for, even those who had chafed against trump in the past quote they don't agree with the decision to go says dodgers playoff hero kike
Starting point is 00:04:12 hernandez of delusion fans or disillusioned fans but they have the right to an opinion hernandez had criticized trump after his treatment of puerto rico in his first term he was among the handful of dodgers trump made a point to depart the dais and shake hands during the 25-minute ceremony. So too was Betts, whom Trump lauded for his ability. The president seemed to hold that handshake a beat longer than those with Hernandez, Max Muncy, and of course the great Shohei Ohtani.

Starting point is 00:06:31 14 days limited time offer see terms at pick six dot draft kings dot com slash promos like who gives a shit about this stuff at this point like i get it the media people have told you that this guy is hitler and we have a country full of fucking morons on both sides who just repeat and parrot the shit they hear on TV. So this guy's Hitler. Guess what? The next Republican that runs for president, you know, they're going to call him Hitler. That's the way this shit works. It's a horribly, terribly divided time with these people. It's always been divided, but now with social media and everything else and the power that people possess to just shit on everybody on social media and rally up the dipshits, the dumb people, it's always going to be this way. Who gives a shit? The guy isn't
Starting point is 00:07:15 fucking Hitler. My God, the people are insane. I'm not saying like the guy. I don't have a thing for whatever for the guy, but like fucking hitler shit and the world is ending shit cut the fucking shit my god you sound like imbeciles right you sound stupid so just stop but like what we're doing here is like and people and my buddy mike melzer asked me this and i might have talked about this before and he's like well josh um you know what is the political climate going to look like 10 years from now and i said, it's going to look exactly like it looks now because there's no incentive for anybody to change. There is no incentive for anybody to open their eyes and ears and listen to what the other side has to say about anything. There is no reason it will change because there's too much power in
Starting point is 00:08:00 division. And that's what I tell people all the time. Things will not change because division equals money and power and prominence for a lot of people. Look at how many people have become big stars in the political world, podcast, TV, and then people who'd be nobodies. There's a lot of people who would be absolute nobodies if not for social media and them being divisive on social media. Like they've created a whole world and good for them. But if you're someone who's made their whole brand, let's say you're a person who's largely a nobody that was able to create a brand using social media, YouTube, and you built yourself into this thing that's making you money. Why would you want to change from what you are doing? Even if what you are doing has
Starting point is 00:08:45 been divisive and even if what you are doing could be considered terrible, whatever it is, why would you change that? Why would you go, you know what? I don't want to be divisive anymore. I'm tired of making money. Well, you're obviously not going to do that. That's why things are never going to change. There will always be a place for divisiveness, particularly in the era of social media. There was divisive before social media, but you didn't have to hear it. It was very limited. You want to hear the right-wing viewpoint on shit, you turn on Rush Limbaugh. You want to turn on the left-wing view, turn on this, and that's kind of what you had, TV, radio, whatever. Social media has made stars out of a bunch of people who big picture are nobodies
Starting point is 00:09:25 and at least stars in their own world. And I'm guaranteeing they're making money from the retweets and the listens to their podcasts and the views of their videos. So what incentive do those people have to stop being divisive on either side? Why do they have incentive to do that? So when guys like Meltzer asked me, what are we going to look like in 10 years probably most mostly the same if not worse so that back to the idea which what I enjoy I enjoy that this story was supposed to be about the Dodgers going to the White House yet really it was just you know another Trump story but who gives a shit man and guess what it's shocking to a lot of people but like because not everybody just outwardly tells you what they think politically because not everybody wants to commit career
Starting point is 00:10:10 suicide not everybody wants to be like snow white and go out there and shit on this this and this and then wonder why no one sees your shitty movie that's what fascinates me right like everybody has a right to their opinion but everybody also has a right to agree or disagree with your opinion and they can make their decisions based on what your shitty opinion is so if you want to like that's what i and we talked about this i think in the snow white episode but it's hysterical to me that people are shocked when others don't like them when they shit on them right like hillary was somehow shocked that she lost when she called a group of people a basket of deplorables well all you did is piss them off like if you're this girl from snow White there is zero incentive for the little girl from Snow White
Starting point is 00:10:49 to be political there's no reason and the Disney people knew that they're like why the fuck are you doing this it doesn't mean that you can't vote like that's the thing that I think people take one no one really gives a shit what celebrities say about politics some do because some are idiots like the Beyonce people might listen to Beyonce's political view because a lot of the Beyonce people are idiots. The Taylor Swift people listen to the political views of that because a lot of these people are idiots. The Kid Rock people will listen to Kid Rock because they're idiots. If you listen to a celebrity for your political analysis and you make your voting decisions based on what Kid Rock or what the girl from Snow White says. You're probably a fucking moron.
Starting point is 00:11:28 So it doesn't matter. But people that might be interested in seeing your movie or going to see your show or whatever. When you get on there and just tell these people who maybe aren't outwardly political. Because they don't want to have division in their family. Because they don't want to have to argue with people all the time. And they just keep it to themselves, maybe you shouldn't alienate those people because they'll be silent about it.
Starting point is 00:11:51 You'll see a lot of people on Twitter and they'll talk about it on Twitter, but the people who are the most dangerous to you are the silent people who are the vast majority of people. The majority of people are not on Twitter talking politics. The vast majority of people are just trying to live their lives, go day to day, pay the rent, pay the electric. That's what they're trying to do. And those people are the ones you alienate and offend when you go out and you tell people
Starting point is 00:12:14 that if you voted for this person, you're an asshole, this person's Hitler. And all they're going to do is really make it hurt. Like, don't pay attention to the dumb shit people say on the internet. Don't pay attention to the most vocal people on either side, right? There's billions of people right in the world. There's hundreds of millions of people in America, right? So those people that are the most vocal are just putting on a show on the internet anyway, and they're miserable fucking people. The people that you have to worry about when you're like the girl from Disney or you're the whomever is the people that you have to worry about when you're like the girl from Disney or you're the whomever is the people who don't say a lot because they don't want their political beliefs to be what defines them which seemingly is what everybody now wants but it's not the case most people don't want
Starting point is 00:12:56 to be defined by who they are politically most people just want to live their fucking lives and be left alone the vast majority of people don't even give a shit about anything that goes on in politics they just want to watch the fucking Kardashians. They just want to fucking watch a ball game and be left the fuck alone. That's most people. So you think, and I think what happens with these celebrities, they get caught up in this, there's a drunkenness that comes, there's a high that comes from the constant retweets from all these people like, yeah, you tell them girl. And then they don't realize that they're just shooting themselves in the foot by doing it. And then of course they'll fall back on it with, oh, you tell them, girl. And then they don't realize that they're just shooting themselves in the foot by doing it.
Starting point is 00:13:25 And then, of course, they'll fall back on it with, oh, that's just because these Trumpers are racist or whatever and they don't want to like me. No, you shit on them and they think your movie fucking sucks and they're not going to give you their money. If you call a group of people racist, they would be imbeciles to give you money at the box office. It is fucking dumb. It is stupid. But these people don't think this way because they are all in this era of social media. And that is the only thing that matters to them. The currency of social media. You think that there aren't guys that play for the Dodgers that maybe even if they didn't
Starting point is 00:13:57 vote for Trump, they sure as fuck didn't vote for Kamala. Do you think that in every baseball team in the country, do you think there's not one dude or two dudes on the team that wouldn't vote for a woman to be president? Do you think that doesn't exist? Of course it fucking does. Do you think that there's people that hate Trump on a baseball team? Yes. You think that they're shocker. They're going to be black dudes on baseball teams or football teams that voted for Trump. They're going to be Mexican dudes on baseball teams and fucking hate the guy. They're going to be Mexican dudes that play soccer and fucking love him. Like that's the way it works, But you don't operate in that world. You are broken fucking people. Who gives a shit if they went to the White House? Do you think that there are other presidents that
Starting point is 00:14:35 haven't done bad shit? Obviously, Trump is the target of all of this shit, and he brings a lot of it on himself, and he's this popular figure that people love to shit on. You think other presidents didn't do bad shit? Do you't think there were other, like, do you think other people that run other countries haven't done bad shit? You think, or worse shit? But you live in this weird world. So it's a story whether or not a team goes to the White House. And I know why it's a story, because it'll get clicks, the wild. And I know why it's a story because it'll get clicks and then it'll get comments and the comments are predictable. You'll get a group of people who are offended by the fact that they would do
Starting point is 00:15:11 it. And then you'll get a group of people who were like, these guys actually did love America and you should love America too. Like, you know what you're going to get. That's why they put it up there. So people will click on it and people will talk about it. But it's just,
Starting point is 00:15:24 it's wild to me, the fantasy world that people live in. It worries me because, and I say this all the time, we have access to every piece of information imaginable. In theory, we should be exponentially smarter than we were 10, 15, 20, 50 years ago. Yet, I'd argue we are in the dumbest generation ever. People are just ignorant. They go with whatever they hear on social media. They get scammed by the fucking lead singer of Def Leppard who wants Apple gift cards. People are morons. And we are dumber than we've ever been. And nobody wants to be smarter. Nobody wants to be educated on things.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Nobody wants, and really it's a common sense thing that's really scary. The lack of common sense is truly astounding. Like my dad is not the smartest dude, book smart dude ever. Watch the way he writes shit. Everything's misspelled. Look at his Facebook posts. We make fun of those all the time, right? But my dad has a lot of fucking common sense. And that used to be currency back in the day. Like, yeah, you may not be book smart. You maybe
Starting point is 00:16:34 didn't have a 4.0. It might've taken you five years to graduate high school, whatever. But if you had common sense and you had a skill, you'd be all right. The scary part is that the place where you're allegedly supposed to get educated, colleges, schools, whatever, are turning people into fucking no common sense droids. That's the scary part. Like, I don't think I'm a super smart guy. Like, I'm not brilliant. I don't know a ton about politics. I used to read at a high level when I was in fifth grade. I read on a seventh grade level, whatever that means. Basically, it meant that instead of reading tween books, I was reading the biography of Muhammad Ali. I got a trophy somewhere that says I was the top accelerated reader.
Starting point is 00:17:16 I'm into history. I don't like to read books unless they teach me something. That's the way I operate. I may not be brilliant, and I'm not brilliant,. I know I'm not, but I think I have a decent amount of common sense. And I think the problem is we live in an era where people lack that. People are not self-aware and they lack common sense. I'm a radio guy. I work in the radio business, right? The number of people who are new into the industry who have zero self-awareness and common sense is astounding. The number of people who go on social media and shit on their employer
Starting point is 00:17:48 and then are surprised when they get fired is astounding to me. The number of people who love to go to these groups and whine that they're not getting jobs because of whatever reason. It is astounding. I saw one story, this was a couple years ago. This really annoying woman that was, I think, doing nighttime radio in Chicago. And this might have been around the time of the Rona. She was a sports...
Starting point is 00:18:09 Julie DeCaro, I think, was her name. And she's like one of these really angry social media, this is racist, this is sexist type of people, right? And she got laid off because I think this was during the Rona, I believe. And they were firing everybody. And there's just no place for a local nighttime radio person on a sports radio in Chicago. There are very few people doing local nighttime radio. To give you an example, I applied to be a talk show host in Dallas on a talk station and nighttime radio. Instead of hiring anyone, they put on a syndicated show. That's the way this shit works now. But this woman couldn't accept the fact that common
Starting point is 00:18:44 sense would tell you that yeah i'm kind of low on the totem pole i'm doing a nighttime radio show i think it was like a late night radio show too like 10 o'clock or some shit but instead of using common sense and going yeah it kind of makes sense i understand it people are getting fired all over the world there's a pandemic going on who the fuck needs local talk shows at 10 o'clock at night when no one's listening to the radio anyway but instead instead of accepting that, it became, oh, I got fired because I'm a woman. And it's like, ma'am, just use fucking like, I understand that you've convinced yourself of this, but common sense would tell you that that is stupid. Like when I was here at KC 95 and I was
Starting point is 00:19:18 making $150,000 to be a fucking disc jockey. Every day I went to work, I was like, yeah, Josh, your time's coming. Your time's coming because there's no need to pay this guy $150,000 to have minuscule fucking results on a music station. There's no reason to do it. And I knew it every day. So when I got fired, I was unhappy because I moved here for this job and left a job that I would still have. That part pissed me off. But I look at it and I go, I told him every day. And my dad's pissed at me because I would tell my employer every day, like, I feel like
Starting point is 00:19:53 you guys are eventually going to fire me because you're losing money all across the board. The revenue's not there across all these stations. And you're paying this dipshit, you're paying a guy morning money to do an afternoon show. And I knew I was going to get fired eventually. It got laid off and I did. But you got to possess some level of common sense. The problem you run into is nobody has common sense. People are just stupid or they are willfully ignorant.
Starting point is 00:20:18 And that's the problem we encounter now. People lack self-awareness and they lack common sense. And we celebrate those people. That's the problem. You get these groups of people that go on and whine about their lack of a job or whatever, but you'll see people that might've had a... There's these groups. There's a group called Radio Peeps. It's on Facebook. I'm not in it. And then Lady O' Peeps, which is Lady Radio People. And you want to see people whining about shit that is just completely unrealistic. Find lady-o-peeps and listen to the shit these people complain about.
Starting point is 00:20:53 It's like, folks, you got into an industry that's a dying industry. You're lucky to have any job at all. Stop bitching. And I'm saying that as someone like me who is out of it, who's probably more accomplished than a lot of these people who are whining constantly on social media, but that's what we are. It's a squeaky wheel society. You get the likes and the retweets and you think what you're saying matters. It really doesn't. As I've said before, that's part of the problem that we're facing now is that
Starting point is 00:21:19 too many people think the shit they say is impactful and matters, and it really doesn't. We've given too much of a rope to people. We've given a bigger, the problem is people are stupid. So we're giving them voice to stupid people. And then they think they're important and then they gain followers. And then we all just get dumber. Unless you're like me, who has common sense. I'm a common sense person, not a book smart person. Although I'm also not stupid. I want to be very clear. I got like a 24 on the ACT and I took it one time. I'm pretty sharp.
Starting point is 00:21:52 But some of these people are just dipshits. Most of the people are dipshits. And that's the problem we're running into. All right. Anyway, more to come.
