all right everybody welcome in all up in is smooth up in us how are you uh we are loaded this morning it is about
423 here in Detroit ready to do some podcast magic for you because I love you I do it because I love
you I wake my ass up at 345 because I love you so here's what we're going to
start with. McDougal is not happy with Drew Brees. Newly nominated for the Hall of Fame,
Drew Brees, by the way. So Drew Brees has a little idea of what's exciting, what's fun,
although I think Drew Brees is a terrible analyst. Like Drew, I adore him because Drew is the
guy that brought me so much joy and heartbreak if we're being real. But, I mean, they won a
Super Bowl in New Orleans because of Drew Brees. Drew Brees, one of the great quarterbacks of all
time. But anywho, Drew Breeze has pissed off McDougal because he said the Eagles offense is
boring and he doesn't enjoy watching it. Let's talk about that after these words.
All right. Drew Breeze is now a regular contributor to first take and a show that is
known for providing commentary that many people disagree with. But this is Drew
When asked about quarterback play in the NFL, apparently he put guys like
Dak Prescott, which is a big mistake putting guys like Dak Prescott over any
Philly guy.
Dak Prescott and Jordan Love looking at quarterback play and not mentioning Jalen Hertz.
Hey, I respect Philly.
I respect Philly.
They are winning games.
They're finding way to wins games.
I can't stand to watch that offense.
It's the most boring offense.
It is.
You should have seen Stephen A's face when you see.
Started with Jordan Love and then followed up with Tech Bradley.
He'll be like, did he hear the question?
And did you hear what he just said?
He said, I can't stand Philly's office.
They're boring.
Who cares?
That's okay.
Well, let me ask you this.
Hey, hey, we're week three.
We're in week three.
We're going to be on every week.
Let's just see how this thing plays out.
Okay, okay.
I mean, is that your way?
Can Boren win the Super Bowl championship?
Can boring repeat?
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
And that's the thing, man.
Like, Philly gets all worked up and that's like perfect WIP bait.
That's like catnip for WIP.
WIP's over here like, yes, thank you very much.
We can rip on Drew Brees, who by the way, pretty much owned the Eagles in his career.
But that's what Philly is all about, finding things to get angry about.
That's a perfect example of something to get angry about.
But what's funny about this is he said something that I guarantee you most of you agree with.
And most of you, like you like winning football games and Jalen Hertz wins football games and all that.
I guarantee in the first 40 or so minutes of that football game on Sunday, you didn't find the Eagles' offense to be very exciting.
You know, who else doesn't think the Eagles offense is exciting?
Oh, I don't know, A.J. Brown doesn't find the Eagles offense exciting because it's not exciting because it's a shitty offense.
He's not saying anything that is false.
You're offended by it because you like to be offended.
You like to be insulted.
You like to fight people.
That's your thing.
And I get it.
I'm like that, too.
lot of us are people that are kind of, you know, kind of laid back until somebody
pokes us or says something about us, then we get our guard up and want to go at them.
Some of us just want to be angry.
I understand it.
Philly people just desire to be angry.
But if you are honest with yourself, if you are just looking at it from a standpoint of
is it an enjoyable product to watch, you would say no, it is not.
Now, the last 25 or so minutes of the game was fun.
But if your offense only becomes fun because you're down 20 because for the first 30 minutes of it, it is abysmal.
That is boring.
So you can rip Drew all you want and get all defensive and blah, blah, blah, blah.
Give me a break.
You feel the same way.
Look at social media before the Eagles started throwing the football.
You were all saying, oh, this is boring.
This is terrible.
This offense is bad.
Fire everybody.
Look, the Eagles have weapons all over.
the field and they don't use them.
That is boring.
You want to tell me that if you had a legitimate quarterback, you wouldn't have something
exciting going on with A.J. Brown, Devante Smith, Dallas Goddard, Sequin Barclay.
You've got high-level skill guys.
And because whether it's play calling, which is part of it, whether it's, well, we're not
going to play it safe.
What is that comment we heard on the broadcast? I guess it was Greg Olson that says,
that day. Well, the Eagles usually don't ask Jalen Hertz to do anything. So, like, they don't
need him to win games. They don't ask that. That's what it is. They don't ask him to do a lot.
He's the quarterback. You should be asking him to do everything because the quarterback will
win or lose games for you. So earlier this week, or I guess it was last week when all these
people got pissed off because I tweeted that Jalen Hertz, when people look back on Jalen Hertz winning
Super Bowls, they'll look at it in the same way they look at Trent Dilfer. I'm not saying that he is a
a worse athlete than Trent Dilfer or that even Trent Dilfer's a better quarterback than him.
I am saying he is going to go down as a guy who we look at as defense carried him to championships.
That is what we are going to look at.
When we look at him, we're going to say, yep, this guy was carried by great defense because he isn't all that good.
And whether he's all that good or not all that good because the coaches are holding them back,
which might be true, or whether he's just limited so they're afraid.
to let him go out and lose the game for them?
Mind you, they did not start throwing the football
and moving the ball down the field
until they were down like 20 points on Sunday.
It's like a Matt Schaub thing.
The Texans and Matt Schaub in those couple of years
that they were good, you know how many games they were down
13-0, 17, 3, 20 to 7,
and then we're like, ah, fuck it, let's just sling it
before you know what they've tied the game.
That's kind of how I feel about the Eagles.
Now, usually they're not down that much
because they're able to control the clock, run the football.
You're asking a quarterback if he thinks an offense where the quarterback play is quote unquote, according to a Greg Olson.
You know, the quarterback's not being asked to do big things.
Of course a quarterback's going to find it boring.
He's an all-time great quarterback.
Quarterbacks like to throw the fucking football.
Quarterbacks like to move it down the field.
The Eagles are not a great vertical passing team.
The Eagles are not a great passing team in general.
Again, that's why after the game, AJ Brown is like, hey, let's open this shit up.
so getting offended over that getting worked up over that i mean that's a very mcdougal thing
mcdougal kind of reminds me of a movie called high fidelity which is one of my favorite
movies and it's john cusack and jack black and john cusack owns a record store and they're
always in the record store talking about which you know songs they like and bands they like
and top five lists this it's a great fucking movie if you've never seen high fidelity it's such a
wonderful film. Ignore the fact that you know that current day John Cusack would fucking probably
hate you for your political beliefs. John Cusack in this movie is so good and I'm a big John Cusack guy.
He's one of those guys who I try to ignore the fact that he's probably like a complete
psycho politically because we see that he's a complete psycho politically. I try to ignore those
things when talking about John Cusack because I love him that much. And one of the scenes in
this movie, there's a great line in here when they're talking about.
I'll just play the audio.
The song is Little Latin Loopi Lou,
and one guy prefers one version of it,
and one guy prefers another version of it, right?
And, like, this is what it's like arguing
with a Philadelphia person.
Little Latin Loopy Lou.
Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.
No!
The Righteous Brothers.
Well, never mind.
No, not never mind.
You tell me right now, what's wrong with righteous brothers?
Nothing. I just prefer the other...
Bullshit!
How can it be bullshit to state a preference?
And that's what it's like.
That's what it's like to argue with McDougal.
You argue with McDougal on things like,
how can it be bullshit to state a preference?
How can it be bullshit to state a preference?
And that's what fighting with McDougal is like.
It's just a preference.
You know, it's, hey, who do you think is a better quarterback all time,
Jalen Hertz or Dak Prescott?
And you can have an argument about it.
But like McDougal calls you a friend.
fraud if he disagrees with you.
Like, it is an affront, a personal affront to McDougal if you disagree with McDougal or say
something that McDougal disagrees with.
Part of it's because McDougal doesn't really have the coping skills and the ability to debate.
All McDougal can do is tell you that you're a fraud.
Like, when I posted the thing about Jalen Hertz the other day, I got a lot of McDougals.
Oh, look at this fraud.
Do you guys even know what fraud means?
I think fraud just has a different meaning in Philadelphia.
Like fraud is you're perpetuating some sort of lie, right?
Like you're trying to be something you're not.
And you were a fraud in Philly.
Was I was I a fraud?
I said things that I honestly believed and you disagreed with them and that made me a fraud?
I don't think you fully understand what fraud means.
But yes, that audio is Philadelphia.
Little Latin loopy loo.
That's like me saying, hey, when they asked me, again,
They asked me an opinion, mind you.
Like, the Great Birds debate when I said Tony Romo was the best quarterback in the NFC East, right?
Little Latin loopie Lou is my Tony Romo.
Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.
No!
And that's literally everybody in Philadelphia when I said that.
The righteous brothers.
Well, never mind.
No, not never mind.
You tell me right now what's wrong with righteous brothers.
Nothing.
What is wrong with Nick Foles?
I just prefer the other ones.
Bullshit!
How can it be bullshit to state a preference?
And that's what it's like arguing with Philadelphia people.
How can it be bullshit to state of preference?
How can Drew Brees be wrong in saying something like I find this boring?
You cannot argue with someone who says they find something boring.
I guess you can get angry about it.
Like, look, I actually think Rocky 5 isn't a very, like I think Rocky 5, I was thinking about
this the other day because I don't know how I stumbled upon this, but like the trailer for
Rocky 5 pull, it was all on YouTube.
Like I'm scrolling through shit on YouTube.
where I saw Rocky 5. I don't know if it was on an Instagram reel or what, but I saw some
like Rocky 5 trailer. And I've watched Rocky 5 100 times because for some reason I enjoy Rocky 5.
I don't know why I do, but I do. And I don't think Rocky 5 is really all that bad.
Same basic storyline as all the other Rocky movies. It just doesn't culminate with a fight in the
ring. It's a ring and a fighting outside because, you know, my ring's outside.
Oh yeah, let's do it. Like I enjoy that movie. And a lot of people hate it.
and I actually enjoy it.
And when you tell people, hey, I like Rocky Five,
it's become such like a thing where you're supposed to hate Rocky Five
and people get all angry when you're like,
you're trying too hard when you say you like Rocky Five.
Look, I watch that movie a thousand times as a young kid.
I enjoyed it.
When you watch movies as a young kid, you view them differently as an adult, right?
So I enjoyed Rocky Five.
But I'm not going to sit there and fight you to the death over Rocky Five.
If I have to debate my point, I'll debate my point,
but I'm not going to change your opinion.
That's why I find debates to be funny sometimes,
because I'm not going to change your opinion.
So what's the point of arguing?
You know what I'm saying?
I've learned this in my old age that just nod at people and just go along to get along on certain things, right?
Like, I'll debate.
Like, I'll argue.
If somebody wants to argue who the best quarterback of all time is, I'll argue that.
But if someone just wants to argue with me that Rocky 5 is a shitty movie, I'm like, well, that's a headache.
I don't feel like doing this.
And I'm not going to change your opinion.
What can I tell you about Rocky 5 that you don't already know?
why would I even fight this?
It's a stupid fight.
Why would I fight with McDougal about Jalen Hertz?
Jalen Hertz or rather McDougal knows in his heart of hearts
that he was yelling at the TV on Sunday
talking about how boring the Eagles' offense is.
Because it is.
The Eagles for long stretches of the game are unwatchable.
It's not like they have a good flow to what they do
and their passing game is terrible for large parts of the game
until they are forced to pass because they're down three scores
and you've got to open things up.
Now, maybe they will open things up now.
Maybe Jaylen Hertz is just being reined in, and that could be the case.
But to hear Drew Brees say that he's bored by it, bullshit, well, it's a preference, friend.
Hey, I respect Philly.
I respect Philly.
They are winning games.
They're finding way to wins games.
I can't stand to watch that offense.
It's the most boring offense.
What do you think a quarterback's going to say?
An offense where the quarterback runs for his life a lot of the time.
the second of play breaks down, he runs,
or you've got these weapons at wide receiver
that you can't get the ball to.
Of course a quarterback's going to find that boring.
Why does that offend you?
Why are you so anxious and, like, McDougal looks to be offended
because that's his natural, like, that's his natural vibe
is to be offended by something somebody said about them.
But if you were honest with yourself,
you would agree that their offense is boring.
