Well, kiddos, the SNL weekend was happening where you got the history of SNL.
Starting point is 00:00:37 The last couple of weeks, you've gotten SNL documentaries and history of music on SNL. And then there was a big concert featuring musical acts and then some of the characters from the show, which was actually funny. That was this weekend. And like Will Ferrell and Ana Gosteyer did the Marty and Bobby Mulhan Culp bit where they're like the music teachers from the middle school. That bit was funny. Some of the musical bits were funny from the show. But other than that, like nothing overly special. Then there was the anniversary special that was on Sunday night, which I watched bits and pieces of. Some of it was okay. I didn't see all of it because I was flipping back and forth between the NBA All-Star game because I clearly hate myself.
Starting point is 00:01:19 And I'm a degenerate gambler. So I was going back and forth between those two and people are talking about this black jeopardy sketch which generally speaking the black jeopardy sketch those type of sketches are lazy anyway and I just don't find them to be all that funny but at one point like it's the jokes are kind of fine they're okay like you know you know like there was an in living color joke in there like there was some decent shit. It was fine. It was a pretty much benign bit.
Starting point is 00:01:50 And then at the end of it, Tom Hanks shows up and like switches places with one of the black characters for some reason. And the character is wearing a MAGA hat and he's afraid to shake a black guy's hand. And I'm just like, the fuck are we doing? Like, Christ. Like, look, you don't have to like maga people i fine you don't have to like maga people don't have to like left-wing people it does not fucking matter just do funny shit and what's happened here is in the era of trump people have been allowed to be extremely lazy with their humor and like black like white dude like first of all there's no reason he even showed
Starting point is 00:02:25 up on black jeopardy he was just there like you go from having uh eddie murphy i think was playing tracy morgan and then eddie murphy disappears they did a horrible job on the shot too because like off in the distance you can see the change happening so it wasn't even a surprise that somebody else was up on the screen, but it's lazy. Just shit doesn't make me laugh anymore. Shit's just not funny. Actually, there have been some things on SNL recently that I found funny. Last year, there was a bit where these guys looked like Beavis and Butthead, but they didn't realize they looked like Beavis and Butthead.
Starting point is 00:03:01 That was a funny bit. The guy that does Trump is phenomenal. Why wasn't that the case? It's Black Je black jeopardy and then trump shows up on black jeopardy instead of a maga guy who like the the punchline is he was afraid to shake a black guy's hand and then the black guy shook his hand anyway like what like hey we'll just let you know you're white pieces of shit the black guy is still gonna shake your hand like what are we doing it's not even fucking funny what would have been hystericals if they got the trump guy out there and trump's playing black jeopardy that would be funny so like you ask questions like uh this president uh was very important to
Starting point is 00:03:35 black people whatever and you get up there trump is the answer the answer is trump because i have done more for black people than maybe possibly ab Lincoln. And like you just use his own words as the fucking comedy and it's great. But like what the fuck was the point? What was the point other than to say hey MAGA people we hate you and you're terrible and you're racist. Like do Tom Hanks do better. Like no one even laughed. Even the people it was a room full of your audience. Liberal comedians and celebrities
Starting point is 00:04:07 the biggest names in the world are all sitting in this room and no one's laughing at your shitty joke because it wasn't even a joke it was just like this is awkward and stupid and pointless so that wasn't very funny I'm not offended by like I know some people might listen and go the MAGA guy first of all I'm not a MAGA guy second of of all, it's just unfunny. Do funny shit. Do funny shit. And the bit itself was fine. The Black Jeopardy thing, like, okay, well, like it sounds more controversial than it really is. Like you do, ooh, Black Jeopardy. And in 2025, it's like, oh boy, this is probably going to be controversial. Let's check this out. It's not really controversial. You want controversial Black Jeopardy? Go back and watch Howard Stern doing Black Jeopardy on his show, which you can find on YouTube because somehow he hasn't scrubbed all those.
Starting point is 00:04:52 And you've got actual comedy. This is not comedy. This is just lazy shit. And it culminates with the MAGA thing. And like, eh. I thought for the most part the SNL thing was kind of lame last night. The Adam Sandler song was good, but that always happens. In these things, Sandler tends to save them by doing a really funny song
Starting point is 00:05:11 or an emotional song or whatever, and he fucking crushes. He slays when he does this shit. He's one of the most likable people. I would make an argument that Adam Sandler is the most likable movie star out there even more likable than Tom Hanks who's becoming less likable for whatever reason I mean I love the guy and like he's a charming dude but Adam Sandler has kind of transitioned into this person that's just affable and likable doesn't mean his movies are any good most of them fucking suck but he's a likable dude and speaking of Adam Sand, his production company is responsible for this Amy Schumer movie.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Let's talk about that piece of shit after we play some commercials. See terms at picksix.draftk kings dot com slash promos so i've watched two movies in the last two weekends on like wine drinking friday movie parties with jilly the first one we watched was a movie called you're cordially invited starring will ferrell and reese witherspoon this movie had a couple of parts that i actually laughed at most of it is just will ferrell being
Starting point is 00:08:07 will ferrell like it's sad for will ferrell that the only times i laugh at his shit now are like when he's doing his old characters on snl like he was doing the other day or like the commercial he's in about paypal and he to the to that's set to the tune of the i want to be with you everywhere i want to pay with you everywhere and I laugh every time I see the commercial and the kids selling him lemonade and he's like come on Logan this isn't even fresh squeeze like when when Will Ferrell is doing like needlessly loud yelling at people who don't deserve it bit that I find funny and there was a scene early in the movie in this year cordially invited and the plot of the movie is like a single dad. His daughter's about to get married, so he's trying to book the place for her to get married.
Starting point is 00:08:50 And then somehow it gets double booked with another couple and hilarity ensues. But like there was a part in there early in the movie where like where he calls her boyfriend like a motherfucker or something like that. And it made me laugh because that's really all Will Ferrell does now that's funny is like say shit like this motherfucker and you're like that's fucking hysterical but overall the movie wasn't funny and there was a gag there's like when there's unrealistic gags in movies that are set in reality that's when i get angry right like if we're in a movie and it's like rookie of the year and the kid throws a million miles an hour, well, the premise of the movie is so stupid that there's nothing that's unrealistic at that point. All bets are off. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:09:30 If it's like a Star Wars movie and they're all up in space and shooting lasers and shit, well, I'm operating in a world where it's obviously not reality. If you've got me operating in a world that is in reality, here's what you can't have. Completely unrealistic sight gags that ruin the whole thing. We've talked about this before. Like if you watch Christmas Vacation, for the most part, everything that happens in that movie is fairly realistic. Like a guy could fall off the roof putting up Christmas lights. A guy could do, you know, wacky shit. Guy could have like an ice thing go through someone's window. It's not likely, but it's not completely unrealistic to the point that you're like, okay, this ruins this fucking movie.
Starting point is 00:10:14 It's schlocky now. But in Christmas Vacation, the scene when he's on the fucking saucer sled and goes a billion miles an hour because he put some grease on the bottom of the sled and then ends up in the dumpster at Walmart. I'm like, okay, you kind of lose me with this. Like the movie is still great and it's got funny shit, but like don't operate in a realistic world and then have just some absurd physical, uh, sight gag that ruins it. You know what I'm saying? Like do better. Like my dad loves this, um, another Will Ferrell movie, this daddy's home. I think daddy's home too,
Starting point is 00:10:49 where the snowblower gets caught up in the Christmas lights and it flies all over. And I'm like, it's too unrealistic. Like, I can't deal with it. I'm not some asshole that tells you, hey, I don't yell at kids' movies. Like, hey, it's angels in the outfield and there's an angel. Like, it's a kid's movie. I get it. But if you're doing an adult comedy and you give me a gag that is so unrealistic and so over the top, I'm like, okay, this is dumb and you lose me. And I guess the thing that helped
Starting point is 00:11:14 this Will Ferrell movie, this You're Cordially Invited, is I still think Will Ferrell's a likable guy. And because he's such a big star and at one time was like the biggest box office there was, I think I can watch Will Ferrell and just give him the benefit of the doubt and go all right listen this movie sucks like a lot of his movies do now but at least I'm gonna watch it and finish it because I like Will Ferrell and I think he's trying and he seems like a nice guy and like I don't want to root against him like I almost feel bad because I think he's a nice guy I don't know that I've never met him I've bad because I think he's a nice guy. I don't know that. I've never met him.
Starting point is 00:11:46 I've never dealt with him. But he feels like he'd be a nice guy. When you watch a movie with him, just like Adam Sandler. I don't judge these Adam Sandler movies harshly on Netflix. A, because I don't watch them for the most part. And B, I'm like, okay, he seems like a nice guy. They paid him a lot of money. He's got to shit out ideas
Starting point is 00:12:06 all the time to make up for the money they're paying him. So sometimes you're just going to get terrible fucking movies and that's okay. I do the same thing with Will Ferrell. Like I watched it and I'm like, all right, this movie's passable. I'm not really laughing a ton, but it's a serviceable movie with a middling type plot. And I'm like, okay, this is fine, whatever. But I'm not going to tell you the gag, but you'll know the gag when you see it. There is a gag in this movie that is so beyond preposterous and unrealistic and terrible. And I hope you guys watch this movie and then report back and say, oh yeah, that's it. It is so preposterous and so stupid.
Starting point is 00:12:44 And if you've already seen it you know what I'm talking about you can message me it's so bad and I'm like this is fucking dumb so I watched the movie it was fine it was a passable serviceable Friday night drinking wine movie and then I saw the trailer for this Amy Schumer movie called um kind of pregnant and i said something to jilly and i was like you know jilly will you want to watch this she's like yeah we'll watch it you know it's something to drink wine to and make fun of and i said jilly i'm gonna tell you something i feel like kind of pregnant can't be any worse than the will ferrell movie now mind you mind you, I don't like Amy Schumer. I don't like her personality.
Starting point is 00:13:28 I don't like her comedy. I don't like the look of her. I just don't like Amy Schumer. Like, that movie she was in with Bill Hader was fine, but, like, I just, I really can't stand the look of Amy Schumer. She just fucking annoys me for whatever reason. So she's already got that going against her. In, like, rell category. Like I watch Will Ferrell and I'm like, okay, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because I like Will Ferrell. Just like I'm watching that SNL thing the other night and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are on there and I love Amy Poehler and I love Tina Fey and I love Amy Poehler because they're the kind of chicks I dig who actually get humor and it's not all woke bullshit humor from these people now who have no concept
Starting point is 00:14:10 of what's funny. Tina Fey is fucking hysterical and Amy Poehler is fucking hysterical and I fucking love them. So whatever. But Amy Schumer doesn't get the benefit of that. She doesn't get the, hey, I'm going to even like this a little bit just because I like this person so much, like Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler will get. Amy Schumer already has that going against her in this movie, Kind of Pregnant. And I told Jilly, I said, listen, this movie cannot be worse than the Will Ferrell movie. And to the point that I said, I'm going to do you one better i am predicting that this movie is going to be better than you're cordially invited that's what i told her i said it's going to be better so she said okay let's see about 10 minutes into the movie 15 minutes
Starting point is 00:14:58 i look over and i go jilly i was wrong this movie is a piece of shit and it is not getting better now apparently this movie was written by Amy Schumer. They let these people write their own shit, and it's fucking terrible. Now, if you don't know, the concept of this movie is this woman's friend is pregnant, and I guess she's trying to trap her boyfriend
Starting point is 00:15:20 that wants to have a threesome. So basically, the movie starts with her thinking she's getting proposed to, and her boyfriend doesn wants to have a threesome. So basically the movie starts with her thinking she's getting proposed to and her boyfriend doesn't propose but he does propose the idea that they have a threesome and this turns her off and she like breaks up with him. Then for whatever reason because she starts getting attention one day wearing
Starting point is 00:15:35 a fake pregnancy belly that she had found at like a pregnancy store. So this fake pregnancy belly was at like some store where you buy pregnancy clothes but it was there to see how you'll look in pregnancy clothes. I guess, I don't know, but she steals it and then just starts wearing it around and people start giving her attention and she makes new friends because they think she's pregnant. It's a stupid premise. When I tell you, I do not remember one thing I laughed at in this movie,
Starting point is 00:16:06 I'm not saying that for effect. I'm not doing that to exaggerate. I'm not doing that just because I don't like Amy Schumer. I am telling you that when I watch this movie, there is not one memorable thing about it. Not one. Nothing funny. Nothing amusing.
Starting point is 00:16:24 It's just everything about it was terrible it was awful and i'm watching this and i'm waiting to just laugh at something and every five minutes or so something dumb will happen in this movie that gets neither me nor jilly to laugh and she goes better than the will ferrell movie huh huh? I'm like, I know. I was fucking wrong. Like, I was so checked out of that movie that I don't remember any particular thing that happened in the movie. I take that back. The only thing I remember is at one point in the movie, she's at a party and all of her friends that think she's pregnant show up at this party. But she doesn't have her pregnancy shit on so she kind of mrs doubt fires it and puts a whole turkey under her dress and i'm like jesus christ like and a lot of people
Starting point is 00:17:15 think this movie's terrible like a lot of people on reddit and again reddit isn't the end all be all because a lot of people watched this movie on Netflix. It was like their number one movie on Netflix. Everybody on Reddit thinks it's a piece of shit and nobody has anything positive to say. But that's kind of where we are in comedy, right? Nothing's really funny. Like I'm trying to think of the last thing I really laughed at. And look, there was a stretch in this movie called Ricky Stenicki, which was a John Cena, Zac Efron movie on Prime. I think it was a Prime movie.
Starting point is 00:17:49 And there are some scenes in there where John Cena is singing like sexually charged versions of real songs. And some of those fucking made me laugh. Like I laughed out loud at that. They were funny. Other than that, I'm hard pressed to find movies I find funny. They just don't exist. I'm not trying to be bitter and terrible and old man yells at cloud. But I've seen a couple movies in the theater that I think were fine. They weren't comedies. I saw this Heart Eyes, which is kind of just a straight-up late 90s slasher movie. And for what it was, it was fine because that's what I went into it with.
Starting point is 00:18:21 It's a late 90s slasher movie and it was cool and I was fine with it. It wasn't the greatest thing I've ever seen, but it was again, passable entertainment, a slash them up movie, and it was fine. I also saw a movie called The Companion, I think is what the movie's called. And the premise of the movie is basically that this guy has a fuck robot, but she doesn't know she's a fuck robot. And then it becomes a whole fucking weird thing. And actually, this movie was kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Like, it was dark humor, but it was kind of funny. And a little bit of a slasher. I actually enjoyed it. And I like the chick that plays the robot. So I enjoyed the film. Like, I saw a couple of movies at the theater i i also saw the um the uh the what's his name the bob dylan movie which was fine too but um you know it was whatever but these movies on netflix the problem you're running into is they're just throwing money at
Starting point is 00:19:18 these people to make movies and these movies are shit they are just like i'm not saying this to exaggerate. Try to watch them if you can, or just shove a firebrand into your penis hole and see what happens too. That could also work. But watch either one of these movies and you'll go. And I think you'll feel the same way. You'll watch the Will Ferrell one and you'll give him the benefit of the doubt because you're thinking of Anchorman, you're thinking of old school, you're thinking of Talladega Nights, you're thinking of all those semi-pro, you're thinking of all the great Will Ferrell movies, and you can't quit him. He hasn't been a super political guy that judges you.
Starting point is 00:19:50 There's a lot of factors, right? It's easy to hate unfunny people, especially when they come at you and they judge you for your political beliefs and they try to preach to you. Will Ferrell's never been a preach to you type of guy, still seems like a good dude. You give him the benefit of the doubt, right? Amy Schumer seems extremely cunty and terrible. So when you watch her, you go, yeah, I already hate you. And I'm going into this already hating you, which impacts the way I feel about this. So I'm not going to give you the benefit of the doubt. And I didn't. It was a God awful movie,
Starting point is 00:20:22 just terrible. So, but I'm urging you to watch it so you can feel my pain too. I don't want you guys to just have pain for me. I want you to see it so you too can experience that pain. I'm like that in that way. I'm not trying to avoid you having it. If I felt the pain, I want you to feel it too. All right, more to come.
