I'm not someone that really dives into politics all that much. I'll talk about things. Like, I'm more of a social speaker, I guess, than I am on like a, you know, like the actual politics of shit, the policies and all that. Like, I have no concept of how most of that works. Thus, I don't talk about it. But I was telling you this the other day that somebody reached out to me about wanting to hire me for a job. And I mean, I already have a job. I enjoy. my job. I'm not going to go anywhere. I have a three-year deal. I couldn't go anywhere if I wanted to. So it's moot. But someone reached out to me about a job, and the job was actually talking like general issue stuff.
Starting point is 00:02:12 So it was more of a, it wasn't sports. It was just more of a, and it wasn't like, like there was another job that I tried to get that I was actually a finalist for somehow. But it was more of a happy talk situation. That was in, I was actually, look, I'll just tell you where it is. That was in Kansas City. because I'd gotten a call from a guy in Kansas City and there was a job opening there and I had applied for it because I applied for a lot of jobs and never got calls back but then I got a random call from this guy that was running the station in Kansas City

So yeah, back when I didn't have a job, it was Kansas City. So, like, Kansas City reached out to me, and I had two conversations with them. And then I found out at the end of it, I was like a finalist for the job, like one of the top two or three people. But it was one of those jobs that I knew I wasn't right for.
Starting point is 00:06:34 But if I got it, I would take it because I needed a job and it was in Kansas City. And it was more of a happier talk. Like if I'm going to do something, I have to be in like an opinion giving spot and not so much of a local yokel type of thing. And this was kind of a local yokel. We don't talk about like the Trumps and stuff like that. We talk about the local stuff. And we try to keep our, we don't want people to know what our politics are. And I'm like, well, then what the fuck's the point?
Starting point is 00:06:59 You know, like, whatever. So that job was one. I don't know if I ever told you that that was in Kansas City. I know I talked about that. But then I got a call yesterday from Sunday, not yesterday, Thursday or Friday. I got a call from someone. I had a missed call. I had a voicemail.
Starting point is 00:07:15 It was a number that I didn't recognize and it didn't have anybody's name on it. So I just assumed it was, you know, like a spam call or whatever. So I didn't answer it. And I get a voicemail. and it's some guy from a, I will not tell you where, but it was in a nice city. And I got a call and I had a voicemail. So I called the guy back. And he's like, listen, I don't know what your situation is.
Starting point is 00:07:39 But we really like to have you talk with our guy about potentially coming to work for this radio station. It's a talk radio station. We're a right-leaning talk station, but we're not like, you know, total wacko about it, but we are right leaning. I follow you on social media. I see some of the comments you make on certain things, and I think your vibe is what we're looking for. And he was like, so, like, who are, like, political people that you, you like, what is your style? I was like, well, I like, I like Bill Maher. And he's like, me too. And I think that's kind of, you know, like what we're looking for. We're not looking for someone to be, you know,
Starting point is 00:08:15 clay and buck here. We're looking for someone to be, not down the middle, per se, but someone that, You know, like on one hand, you're going to say something like, you know, you think that these people with the no kings protests are fucking idiots, but you also don't care if somebody gets an abortion, like that type of thing. Like the kind of shit that I talk about on here, that when I do dive into political stuff, that's kind of my viewpoint is I don't just fall in line with one group of people or one way of thinking, right? That's usually what we talk about on this podcast a lot, is like I don't believe that you throw yourself into one group because I don't believe in that. But what I believe in is each individual issue is its own individual issue. So while I might have a viewpoint, I know a lot of people accuse me at being like magger or whatever, like I'll get that from a lot of people. Like my boss here is like, well, you're extremely right wing. I'm like, not really.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Like what extremely right wing person do you know that's like, I don't give a shit if you get an abortion? What extremely right wing person out there is making fun of the idea of a wacky alternate halftime show with Lee Greenwood? What a hardcore right-wing person thought that the Charlie Kirk funeral looked more like a fucking wrestling match and made fun of it? Or a wrestling intro. Like, if I were extremely right-wing, I don't think I'd be doing any of those things. But I also make fun of like the No Kings protests, which were comical this weekend. And the people that are involved in those tend to be just dipshits, right? Like wackos that are never going to fuck anybody ever because they're just dopes.
Starting point is 00:09:43 So, like, I believe I'm a balanced person in those things, although I wouldn't. agree that most of the time the people I'm making fun of the most hardcore are like the no kings type people because I think they're fucking nut jobs and they're just more fun to make fun of because they're dipshits. But like he'll get pissed at me if I, on the air, I make, like one of the big things he gets mad at me about is talking about the yard signs, the in this house we believe. And he's like, you can't keep making fun of those people because they know you're making fun of liberal people and they're going to say you're a concern. I'm like, look, man, I'm going to make fun of shit that I think is worth making fun of. You didn't see.
Starting point is 00:10:17 to have any problem when I was making fun of the idea of the alternate halftime show. So why do you have an issue if I make fun of dipshits with their in this house, we believe, for their performative yard signs. You know, like, I'm going to make fun of this shit. But anyway, so back to the other point. So this person was like, look, we think you're really fucking awesome. And if you are available and this is something you could do, I will go to our program director today and tell him you're interested and we'll get the ball roll.
Starting point is 00:10:47 I'm like, holy shit. Like somebody's actually interested in me again, which has not been the case. Like I reached out about this job here and they kind of created a job, but they were looking to do something. And it just so happened that it worked out that I was available and whatever, and I knew them and they hired me. And I'm glad to be here, by the way. I like the city.
Starting point is 00:11:04 I like the people I work for. I wasn't going to leave. But it was actually nice to know that somebody else was like, hey, you know what? I think you're really fucking good. And I'd hire you today. because for a year, when I was sitting there driving DoorDash, and when I was sitting there beating my head against the wall, when I was sitting there sending emails that weren't getting returned, when I was sitting there calling people and never getting calls back, when that was happening, I felt like, honest to God, I felt like the biggest piece of shit on the planet. Like, I know you got your own problems, but it's impossible to not feel bad whenever you've been at the mountaintop and you've been someone that's done amazing things and people talked about you like you were the biggest shit in the world and you're all. all these fucking lists for the best host out there and all this shit.
Starting point is 00:11:47 And then you can't even get a call back from anybody. And it's a, look, it's a pain, man. So it was actually kind of nice to have somebody reach out and be like, hey, by the way, we want to hire you. Now, again, it would have been nice. Again, I'm glad I got the job I got and it worked out well. But, you know, when I sat around for over a year without a job, it would have been nice had, you know, one of these people who thinks I'm actually good at this stuff, been like,
Starting point is 00:12:11 hey, we think you're good. But that's how it works out. When you have a job, that's when people want to hire you. When you don't have a job, no one has a job opening. But I will say, this would have been an intriguing job in an intriguing city. I will leave it at that. It would have been a news talk situation where I'm doing, you know, conservative leaning stuff, but not like a... It would have been somewhere in the neighborhood of that.
Starting point is 00:12:37 But I would have been allowed to do it in the way that I would do it on the podcast or wherever. Obviously, it didn't happen. I got a three-year deal here, and I'm like two months into it, which, again, that doesn't mean I'll be here three years because they very well could fire me well before then. Where's the last place I worked for three years? Anybody? Houston, the first time. I have not made it past two and a half years anywhere else. So my track record is not exactly good for that.
Starting point is 00:13:02 But anywho, that's the situation there. It's wild because it was a really cool opportunity. It just the timing didn't work out. And who knows, if I'd even enjoy doing a news talk show. Probably, I mean, maybe I would, depending on the vibe. Like, if it was a Clay and Buck type show, probably not. But if it was, you know, the vibe that they were telling me about, maybe I would have. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:27 But as it stands, that opportunity will not come to fruition because I can't do it. Because I have a job now and I have to win at this job because I have to. It is a must. There is no try, only do. All right, more to come.
