It's funny. I have some DMs from people because this week doing something that I haven't really done in a while is I've just made bold predictions. I've had, you know, bold takes about predicting games or something I normally don't do. But like this week, I just felt there were some opportunities there. Like I saw some shit where I was like, hey, I think these are really good bets to take, you know, as I was kind of looking at.
the games over the weekend. And like I know on Friday, I said that I thought Washington was going
to beat Iowa and there were a couple other games. Missouri, I thought Missouri was going to lose to
A&M, not because I think A&M is better than Missouri. A&M sucks and Marcel Reed sucks.
But I felt that it was a spot, you know, and I'm a big believer in spots. So, you know,
Florida, they beat Ole Miss in a spot. Florida on no planet. There's no place in the world that
Florida is a better team than Ole Miss.
Ole Miss has better quarterback, better talent.
They're just a better team, right?
There's no place where I would look at you and tell you that they're better.

However, in that spot, in that place, they were better coming on.
it was Ole Miss coming off beating LSU, playing in the biggest game they've had in forever.
You got Florida at home.
They ambush them early and then it's an onslaught.
Like spots do matter, right?
And that was my whole point last week.
My point last week was and continues to be this, that a spot is a very big deal, right?
So I thought that Missouri coming off their big win, I thought that was a spot for A&M.
Well, I was wrong.
It was not a spot for A&M.
A&M's terrible.
And again, I'm not telling you that I thought A&M was good,
and I'm not telling you that I thought Marcel Reed was any good.
He's not and they're not.
What I'm telling you is I thought it was just a spot.
I thought it was an opportunity for A&M to go and win the game.
Because I still don't believe in Missouri, because Missouri ain't played anybody.
And that was my point, right?
And I said that LSU would beat Kentucky because I don't think Kentucky's really any good.
Still don't, right?
But I bring this up because I got a DM from a listener, John,
and he just screenshoted the box scores of all these games.
And he was screenshotting these box scores.
And he's like, oh, here's all the games you picked.
And they were all wrong, of course.
Now, of course, what he also neglected to do when he sent me all of this is he neglected
to point out that the thing I said would be the biggest no-brainer hit of the weekend.
was the Texans game, which I, look, I was obviously right.
They beat them by three touchdowns, four touchdowns, whatever the final score was.
I don't remember.
But that was my main point was that I thought the most obvious outcome of the weekend.
In any game that was being played, whether it be college or pro, the most obvious outcome of the weekend was going to be the Texans just beating the shit out of the Titans, right?
and they demolished them.
And I have not gotten one goddamn message from John.
So John, I'm sure you're listening to the pod.
I'd like a message on that, please.
You loaded me up, you inundated me with messages
about how wrong I was about all these college games, and I was.
Which, by the way, I can actually make a case for why I was wrong on some of these.
First of all, I never said that Washington was any good,
but Iowa doesn't have any offense.
And that was the point that you made when you sent me these messages
was that, oh, you talked all this shit about Iowa,
said they can't score and look at the score.
They started a different quarterback.
If I would have known they were starting a different quarterback,
and maybe I should have fucking known that.
I don't know when they decided that,
if they decided it earlier in the week or whatever it is.
If I would have known that they were starting a different quarterback,
then maybe I would have had a different thought there.
But I didn't know.
So, of course, I ended up being wrong on that.
But if I would have known, I know that's an obvious answer now, but, you know, if I would have known that, then, hey, you know what?
Maybe that would have been a different story.
But obviously, it wasn't a different story.
I was wrong.
All that said, though, and it's very important if I would have known that, if I would have known that they were starting a different quarterback,
I probably would have had a different thought process.
That's all.
But.
So I was wrong on that.
And I was wrong.
Let me actually go back and look at these DMs I've got here.
Let's see here.
Let me see which games he pointed out to me.
By the way, all of a sudden, my fucking Instagram is also loaded with people following me and sending me messages.
It's mostly a lot of like Ole Miss people.
Because my laying kiff and shit over the weekend just blew up for me.
But let me go to my messages here.
So John
So John, let's look at all the shit
That you pointed out that I was wrong about
Happy Sunday morning
To recap all of your college picks
Missouri beat A&M 27 to 6
To which you said Missouri's in a spot
Yeah, Marcel Reed also blows
He does
It wasn't wrong, he stinks
But I thought they were in a spot
And I stand by the spots
You can criticize the idea of a spot
The spot is real
The idea of the spot is real.
Sometimes teams that are inferior teams win because of the spot.
Florida is a great example of that.
Florida sucks.
They have gotten their dicks knocked in the dirt.
Ever since they've beaten Ole Miss and everybody started blowing them
and you got goddamn fine bomb talking about how great the coach is and all this shit,
all they've done since then, they've gotten pecker slap.
So the spot matters.
But yes, I was wrong about that.
But I thought that was a prime spot for that.
And I was wrong.
You're going to miss some of them, right?
Next one.
Screenshot of Iowa and Washington.
First of all, and I appreciate you, John, that you pay so much attention to the show.
I need more people like you.
Iowa can't move the football, was my quote.
They can't.
They did nothing offensively, but they made a quarterback change.
And then all of a sudden they're going to us light it up.
So I stand by what I said.
For the first five, six weeks of the year, Iowa's offense was dreadful.
Oh, and then the Tiger score.
So we can get into the LSU shit.
I know that I drunkenly.
I don't even know what I talked about last night when I was drunkenly ranting and raving about LSU.
But to the point about Kentucky, because I got another message from someone.
Oh, it was an email?
Actually, is it a, was there a voicemail with this or was it just a text?
Let me see here.
Is it a voicemail?
It just says, still think Kentucky isn't legit now, question mark?
I don't.
and if I look at Kentucky's schedule,
there's probably three or four losses on that schedule.
So I don't think that Kentucky did anything super special in the game.
I didn't see any, like they had a kick return for a touchdown.
LSU missed 10 fucking tackles on a punt return.
And they had an 80-yard run to start the game,
which is dreadful, which is embarrassing for LSU.
But two touchdowns came on two giant plays.
Like everybody keeps talking about,
I was listening to the LSU post game about how bad the LSU defense was, and they weren't fantastic.
But they gave up, what, 35 points in the game.
One of them was a short field touchdown in overtime.
Okay, right?
So that's number one.
And then they had a punt return touchdown and then the big run on the second play of the game.
That's 21 of their points that you can account for, not on drives, not on sustained offense, just bullshit plays.
Now, on the flip side, LSU had to run two gadget plays to score two touchdowns.
So I'm not telling you that LSU's offense was spectacular either,
but they moved the ball up and down the field pretty easily for large stretches of the game.
Also, LSU didn't deserve to win the fucking game.
Kick or misses two kicks and you can't close the game out?
So I'm not sitting there trying to tell you that LSU deserved to win.
I think LSU got hosed.
Oh, by the way, the other touchdown for Kentucky was one that you can make the argument should have never counted
because at some point you got to blow the guy to play dead.
You don't have to blow the guy.
You have to blow the play dead at the goal line.
Like, if you're going to quarterback sneak, like, when is the play over?
The guy's forward progress stopped.
So at some point you have to call that.
So, like, I get it.
You want to come at me and talk shit about it.
That's fine, bro.
I'm totally cool with it.
I'm glad you do.
I love that guys like John are passionate about the podcast and want to talk shit.
I love it.
Thank you.
But the reality is, like, if your question is, do you think Kentucky's,
legit. No, I don't. I think LSU gave them the game. And despite the fact that LSU was given the
game multiple times because the shitty kicker couldn't make a kick, they still couldn't get the job
done. I don't like Sam Levitt. And I'm at a point now where I have serious issues with Kiffin.
And it's not just about play calling whatever. I think there's a deeper issue with Kiffin right now
that a lot of people aren't talking about. Some are starting to now because they saw the opportunity.
for Kiffin to go for it on fourth down and ice the game.
And I feel like any other era of Lane Kiffin would have gone for it.
You have the game in your hands.
You're an offensive coach.
Your offense has been your better unit that day.
The defense hasn't been as good.
You need to make one play, one yard.
And twice this season, LSU has had the opportunity to pick up a yard when it mattered
and they couldn't do it.
That game and Ole Miss.
If they pick up the first down instead of settling for the field,
goaler, that was the case against Ole Miss.
LSU should have been going in to take the lead against Ole Miss.
I believe it would have made it 28, 24 in the fourth quarter.
Instead, they couldn't pick up that one yard.
They called a stupid direct snap play that didn't pick up anything.
They settle for a field goal that ties the game.
And then Ole Miss just goes bang, bang, bang, bang, down the field wins the fucking
game, right?
Even though LSU got the ball back eventually.
But still, they go right down the field, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,
with ease.
LSU didn't get the job done there.
And in this situation, LSU didn't get the job done when you needed one yard, one yard to ice the game.
You have a $4.5 million a year quarterback.
You've got a $50 million payroll and you can't pick up one fucking yard against Kentucky.
You can't get one goddamn yard against Kentucky.
That's the fucking problem.
And I believe that a kiffin of a different era would have fucking gone for it.
I heard a, I was watching, drunkenly watching the LSU.
post-game show last night.
And this was the one that's on the flagship station in Baton Rouge.
And one of the guys on the show, Charles, Hannah Griff, who's been there for a million
years, said something that I basically said last night in my drunken rambling, I believe.
He said that you didn't pay Lane Kiffin all that money.
You didn't go through all this process to get Lane Kiffin for Lane Kiffin to decide to punt
in that situation because there are 900 other coaches that can punt in that situation.
You hired Lane Kiffin because Lane Kiffin is supposed to have the big fucking balls to get the job done.
And he didn't.
He punted.
He did exactly what all the other fucking people would have done.
Although I think a lot of people would have gone for it in that spot.
You have the game in your hands.
Let me ask you a question.
Do you believe that the coach at this Will, what's his fucking name, Will Stein at Kentucky,
would have punted in that spot?
No, probably not.
Probably would have gone for it and said, nope, I'll let my offense win the fucking game.
I believe that my dudes can beat your dudes for one fucking play and win the game.
I was reading some of the comments that I was getting on Instagram and on TikTok last night about that.
And people were like, you're fucking insane.
You got a punt.
No, you don't.
You're right around midfield.
You've done a pretty good job of holding them out of the end zone.
Like you've forced, you've turned the ball over.
You've given them short fields in the fourth quarter.
They've settled for field goals.
They've missed those field goals.
So even if you don't get it, I feel pretty.
confident that they're not going to get into the end zone. So worst case scenario is they kick
a field goal, they make it you go to overtime. Best case scenario is game over. And for me, when
you're paying a guy 10 million or whatever LSU is paying Lane Kiffin and they went through the
effort to get him and they paid out, they bought out Brian Kelly's deal or they've had to pay out
this fucking deal and they've paid all this money to get the players they have here. They're not doing
that. These people that are paying these guys
are not doing so to watch you punt in that spot
with the game on the line. And there's
just a vibe about Lane that's different. And I don't know if he's trying
to be somebody that he's not. I don't know if like he thinks that now
he's coached at LSU and all eyes are on him and he's got to be like go
buttoned up and like has to be kind of the, I'm not straight laced. He'll never be
the straight laced guy. But like I want Lane Kiffin who's allegedly
out sending fucking Snapchat.
chats to fucking chicks at the bar.
I want the fucking guy that lets his nuts hang.
I want the guy that's talking shit to people on social media.
I don't want Zen Lane Kiffin.
That's not what I signed up for.
That is me as an LSU fan.
I did not sign up for Lane Kiffin being Zen.
That's not what I'm here for.
But that's what we're getting.
I think I've used this analogy before.
But in Eastbound and Down,
in the last season of Eastbound and down,
like the opening scene of the last season,
Kenny Powers works at like a rental car place,
and he's like in a pair of slacks
and a polo shirt or like a shirt and a tie,
and he works as a rental car guy,
and you see him in his car driving to his job,
and he's all zen.
And he's like listening to some fucking, you know, orchestra music,
and he just goes, fucking love NPR.
Like just all zen and shit.
And that's what Lane Kiff is.
is right now. I don't care about your stupid fucking hot yoga. I don't care about all your other shit.
As an LSU fan, what I wanted to see was the big balls, let your nuts hang. And to me,
it wasn't even a big balls play. If you out-talent them at virtually every position. You pay more
money. There's only three or four programs in the country that pay more money than you do for talent.
You are one of the highest-paid coaches in all of college sports. And you can't get one fucking
yard. And not only that, rewind to the previous drive where all you had to do was line up,
get a couple of first downs, and they're dead. What happens? You're $4.5 million a year quarterback.
Inexplicably fumbles trying to throw a jump pass or some such shit. And you give the ball back to
him. By some miracle, the guy misses another kick. So you're like, hey, you know what? We've dodged
this fucking bullet. Now let's go ice it. Couldn't ice it then either. And that's the thing, man. You
could lose games. There's a lot of games you could lose. It's not like, you know, like it sucks to
lose, but you look around the SEC and outside of Georgia, there aren't a lot of teams out there
that are going to go week and week out and not lose. You know, we talked about Missouri, we,
I don't think Missouri is any good. I shouldn't say that. I shouldn't say Missouri's not any good.
Missouri is fine, but everybody's blowing Missouri. They're going to be like Florida and they're going to
have a game or two where they just get mauled by someone and you're going to go, oh, I guess
they're not that good. They didn't play anybody. But that's how the SEC operates this year.
There are a lot of teams that you can argue, just kind of mid-level type teams, just beat the shit
out of each other. You know, there's not going to be a huge gap, right? So losing is what it is.
But, I mean, it sucks, but it is what it is. But to lose when you had a kicker in the fourth
quarter miss two kicks, to lose when you got the ball back with the lead twice.
to lose when you with the big high dollar coach and high dollar fucking roster
couldn't close out the game.
That's the part that's gross about it.
Because I don't believe Kentucky is a better team.
And I get the DMs.
I got, oh, too, Kentucky is not great.
Kentucky will lose a couple of games on their schedule down the stretch.
That's going to happen inevitably to them.
They should have lost a South Carolina who's not very good.
They didn't.
Good for them.
They're going to lose three or four games.
Okay, so whatever.
And I'm just annoyed by all of it at this point.
