The video is up, right?
The video of me trying the Big Mac for the first time.
No offense to McDonald's.
I ate all the fries and everything.
I do like McDonald's, but I don't like anything on my burger.
It's not a McDonald's thing.
It's I don't, I don't like the whopper with everything on it either. I just don't like anything on my burger. It's not a McDonald's thing. I don't like the Whopper with everything on it either.
I just don't like stuff on a burger.
But in honor of the fella dying, the guy that created the Big Mac, he died.
98 years of age.
98.
So, I tried a Big Mac for the first time.
And I couldn't even get one bite down before I spit it out.
And it's nothing against the Big Mac.
I just don't like things.
See, I think it's delicious.
So, my dad was on the phone because it was a very big moment for me because again my
dad has seen me throw tantrums over stuff being on my burger. So one hour from now we
will have Gary Danielson on the show. Did LSU make the right decision with oh is Lane
Kiffin going to stay at Bama? And really,
another big question for the SEC locally is what happens to Kevin Sumblin? Who
would have thunk it that old Kevin Sumblin would be on the hot seat? Well,
we'll talk about all that with a guy that really knows the SEC, but he'll let you
know that he's not just the SEC. Also, Texas with Tom Herman, what happens with
this U of H job? Tillman Fertitta
was on Michael Berry I guess yesterday and he said Les Miles is on their list.
That's what he said.
And he said that's a symbol of just kind of showing you the kind of people that want this
job, Les Miles. I'd hire Les Miles in a second and I know that it's kind of you'd be kind
of going in reverse offensively. You've kind of built yourself around being this kind of
high flying offense.
And I guess a fair point would be
that I don't think you can recruit the type of players
necessary to play a pro style offense at U of H.
You have to play kind of that spread it out,
fast type of offense.
So I don't think you can get the kind of players
needed to run a pro style offense.
So maybe that wouldn't work to your advantage.
But if Les Miles wanted to relinquish control of his offense and get modern with it, in
a second I'd hire Les Miles there.
In a second.
But if you missed that, that Tillman for Tita interview is online.
It's at KTRH's website.
It was good stuff with Michael Berry and Tillman for Tita.
All right, so you've got the press conference, right?
The press conference from Brock Osweiler. So he has a quote, does
Brock Osweiler, and the quote is, I really think this two-game losing streak that we're
on is going to set us up for a great story in the long run. That sounds super, but there's
absolutely no reason for anybody to believe that. So you've got the press conference,
about what, four or five minutes of it?
I've got about seven minutes.
About seven minutes. So let's listen to some of this press conference
and we'll pause and talk as we go.
But I just like to listen to Brock Osweiler
over explain things and say absolutely nothing.
Do you have a buzzer, Jim?
Yes.
Every time we hear a cliche from Brock Osweiler,
and granted all guys speak in cliches,
but Brock Osweiler seems really, really dense.
You know, he just doesn't seem bright. When I hear Brock Osweiler seems really, really dense. You know, he just doesn't seem bright.
When I hear Brock Osweiler speak,
I just think that he's simple.
He's from Montana.
There's 11 people in the entire state,
so he probably didn't have a lot of communication
with people as a kid.
Probably dressed like Brokeback Mountain as a kid.
I guess I can't judge,
because if you remember pictures of me as a kid,
I looked like the biker
from the village people.
So maybe that's not fair of me to say.
But Brock Osweiler just comes across as a real simpleton.
You know what they call him?
An S-word kicker?
A bleep kicker?
Is that what they call him?
Well, like a hick.
But he's not really a hick.
Like, that's not fair.
What do we call hicks?
Like, if you had to categorize a hick, what do you think a hick looks like and does?
Probably overalls and a straw hat, that kind of thing.
Now, to me, that sounds more like a hillbilly.
Oh, yeah, that is a hillbilly.
So hillbillies like, you know, kind of middle America,
Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, type of stuff.
Yeah, so maybe like a mullet.
Yeah, like a hick to me.
Like, what is the difference between a hick and a hillbilly? I don't know and a bump redneck or a bumpkin or are they all just kind of a mismatch over each other
I don't know, but that's how I think of Osweiler. He just sounds dumb
It sounds like he uses a lot of words to make himself sound smarter, but he just sounds stupid
So let's play some of Brock Osweiler's press conference
And let's see if we can find cliches and we'll sound the horn whenever there is a cliche.
All right, go ahead Jim Fireway.

Brock, can you talk a little bit about
what you've seen from this Packers defense,
struggled at times this season, bounced back Monday night.
What you're seeing it pause it for Sunday
Well, we try a thing where we try to guess what he's going to say based on the question
Okay, so I think that's fun because it's fun to try to guess Brock Osweiler's responses. So my guess will be
All right, well the Packers play in the NFL and this is NFL football and they've got a really talented
in the NFL and this is NFL football and they've got a really talented quarterback and his job is to move the ball up and down the field and score points and they do score points and we've got
ourselves a challenge and we have to battle in this NFL game that we're going to play on Sunday.
All right let's see what he says. I see a very talented defense you know you see some veteran
guys up front you know you see Clay Matthews. You see, you know, Julius Peppers.
You know, you see guys like that who consistently
have made plays in this league for a number of years,
who play with very high motors.
They're physical, they're big, they're athletic.
High motors are cliche.
Cover the entire field.
You know, and then you see a secondary
that's extremely athletic. Do they fly to the ball? You know, I think you see a secondary that's extremely athletic.
Do they fly to the ball?
I think you see guys that they're very, they do a great job with disguising coverages.
They can cover a lot of ground.
You know, they're not afraid to go up and challenge wide receivers.
Do they fly to the ball?
So, I mean, really when I watch the Packers on defense, I see a very talented group that
plays extremely hard, that, you know, isn't afraid to throw
out multiple coverage throughout a game.
You know, there's multiple coverages just in a single series.
You know, they disguise things well.
They play a lot of different coverages.
They have a good blitz package, and I expect a great challenge.
Over the course of the season, it seems like I've seen that you tend to do longer snap
counts. You're pointing out coverages. of the season it seems like I've seen that you tend to do longer snap counts
you're pointing out coverages you're pointing out I'm sure blocking schemes
and things like that but I don't see a ton of you know maybe quicker counts or
shorter stuff maybe to keep the defense off balance is that something that by
design you guys want to do that because maybe you want to run some more clock or
is it something that you you're you're not maybe realizing and something that you
might want to change as you get further along in your career?
Certainly, you know great question.
Well here's the thing about balance. If you're balanced that means you're stable.
If you're not balanced that means you're unbalanced and that means that you're
not stable and what we want to make sure is that
they're unbalanced because we don't want them to be stable.
The NFL which is the National Football League. If you're
stable and balanced, I think you have a better chance of
winning if you're unstable and unbalanced it's going to be
harder for them to stop you from moving the ball up the
field and as the quarterback it is my job of this NFL team to
move the ball up and down the field and score points in the NFL game. Do we think he said that?
Play his answer. Certainly you know great question and it's
something that we spend a lot of time each week in our game plan meetings
talking about what kind of cadences we want to use and And I think some of those longer cadences that you see,
it's when we have two plays
or maybe even three plays called in a huddle.
And we're really trying to see the final look
that the defense is going to give us
so that I can get the team into the proper play.
But you're certainly right.
I think there is a time and place for quick count cadences
and we do mix those in there as well
But you know cadence is something that changes week to week
You know shoot when you look at our place you know we have golly full pages of different cadences, so
There's a lot that we can do at the line of scrimmage, but you're exactly
We want to change up our cadence and that's something I'm sure that we can also do a better job at.
He says so much to say, just give me the end part.
I know, I'm surprised he didn't apologize
for saying shoot.
He's like less mild.
Sorry for cursing.
I just, I got worked up.
It's like talking to Dusty.
Shoot.
You know what?
By golly, I'm sorry for cursing.
You joke, but Dusty does not curse,
and she'll use the gollies.
And if you find him, you go and you kiss him on the mouth.
If you're a girl. Girl.
If you're a girl.
All right, continue.
Brock, Aaron Rodgers in the conference call earlier,
he mentioned that in 2008, he kind of had a similar thing
where he had an opportunity to start for the first time. He struggled, went 6-10, and he says in 2016, sometimes the media or the fans are a little less forgiving of struggles.
What do you think of those comments and how do you think they might apply to some of the
things that are happening with you this season? I'm pausing.
Yeah, well, Aaron Rodgers plays football.
He's a quarterback.
And his job is to move the ball up and down the NFL field that is covered in grass.
And his job is to score as the quarterback because his hands are on the ball more than
anybody.
He touches the ball more than anybody.
And he is great.
I am a quarterback in the NFL.
My job is to move the ball up and down the field and score points because my hand is
on the ball more than anyone.
Much like Aaron Rodgers is.
And shoot, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.
Golly, I tell you, he struggled, and I tell you, it's tough in this NFL, but we're going
to go out and we're gonna battle and as long as we keep battling and try to move
the ball up and down the field and score points like you do in an NFL game golly
I think we're gonna have a chance to win and then of course he gets down to the
answer which will be like the actual answer will take two words you know
anyway go ahead and play his answer yeah you know I think the the most important thing
Over the course of an NFL season
You know no offense, but just just blocking out the outside noise. You know I think no offense
What is it positive who would be offended?
the outside noise
Look, I know you all the outside noise, so I apologize listen
I apologize beforehand, but I want to let you know that I'm trying to block I'm blocked yeah I'm trying to block
you out no offense and like somewhere Barry's in the background don't block me I
Continue playing the answer
For an individual is is obviously to believe in yourself Oh your abilities, but then to believe and trust your teammates that they're gonna do their jobs
Trusting your teammates trust in your coaches and when you have that belief amongst each other
You're able to do special things. So if the National Football League was easy,
everybody would do it.
And so it's a constant challenge,
it's a constant learning process,
but it's something I love.
I love that challenge.
Every single week isn't gonna be perfect,
but that's what makes those really good weeks special.
That's what makes those wins special
Because we know how hard it is to be successful
And just that process of coming in working to get better
Practicing to get better studying film to get better
You know, that's that's the best part about this boy. It's like chicken soup for the hayseed soul
I can just imagine him with like a big dip in up there just like
I love the way he basically he didn't answer the question either. But if it was easy everyone
would do it. If it was easy everyone would do it. No not everyone can do it. The problem
is there are 31 guys who do it better than you. Yes. There's 32 of yous and there's only
there's 31 who are considerably better than you.
But I guess he's got that going for him.
He's better than everyone asking him questions in that room.
You know, that's positive.
Yep.
If you're looking for a positive about Brock Osweiler, he's better than Bootsy at being
the quarterback.
Yes, to be fair.
He's like, well, listen, and listen, I'm sorry.
I mean, no offense intended here, but I am better at quarterback than John McClane
I mean to be fair. He's probably better at writing a paper than I am I can throw the ball farther than you I
Am friends with Dante and Tony oh
pastorini Chirp Let me tell you a story about the time
that Dan Pastoreni and I were in the upper deck suites
of the Astrodome.
And there was lots and lots of bush.
And I'm not talking about beer.
Chirp. Continue. You're touching on it quite a bit.
My question would be, we've talked about the offense getting it going.
Now we've got five games to go.
They all matter with the playoff race.
How much do you like that burden?
How much do you like to be the guy with that responsibility on your shoulder?
Oh, this will be good.
I love it.
I know what he's going to say now.
Sorry. I love the pressure Well, I know what he's going to say now. Sorry.
I love the pressure of being an NFL quarterback.
You see, when football was invented so many years ago,
the forward pass really wasn't as big of an issue as it is now.
But when the forward pass came to be in the NFL and in football,
we started scoring more points.
And you see, that's my job as an NFL quarterback whose hands are on the ball more than anybody is
I have to move the ball up and down the field and score and if this were easy
We'd all be doing it
Let's see what he has to say
I wouldn't have it any other way since a very young age
I've always wanted to be the guy to have the ball in his hand every single play.
Especially when our back is against the ball.
Not a lot of people play the ball.
He's a dope. He's a dope.
I would love to do it. We gotta find a bed to play.
It's like he's Stuart Smalley or something like that.
Like it's like it's daily affirmation.
I'm good enough, I'm smart enough,
and dog gone it, people like me.
I can't like, I can't get through it.
He's like Brock Olsteen.
He's like just self help.
That's all he is. He's like Dr. Phil. He's like a just self-help. That's all he is.
He's like Dr. Phil.
He's like a self-help guy.
I continue this answer.
People believe in us right now, but I can promise you there's nobody who believes in
this team more than myself.
There's nobody who believes in this coaching staff more than myself.
And I really think this two-game losing streak that Oh dear streak that we're on It's gonna set us up for for a great story in the long run
You know, I don't think I've ever been a successful NFL season that didn't have adversity somewhere in that season
So I really cannot be more excited for the challenge this week going to Lamau Field, a very difficult place to play on the road.
We're playing a very well coached team.
We're playing a good football team.
And really the challenge started yesterday.
The challenge started with film prep,
and then it started today with having a great practice.
And we did have a great practice.
So I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity at hand
to truly write a great ending to this story. Now, here's the thing, your story is gonna end something similar to the Titanic if I
had to guess. Your story is not gonna end in anything positive. It's gonna end like
that movie about that rugby team that crashed in the Andes and they all ate
each other. Alive, is that what it was called? Yes. That's how your story is
gonna end. Is that a true story? I thought it was like the Donner Party remake. No, it was a true story.
It actually happened.
Wow.
Yeah, they all, I forgot where the rugby team was from,
but yeah, they all were in a plane crash,
and to survive they ate each other,
and they ate like little mints and stuff
that they had left over.
I guess if you were gonna eat a person,
I guess like an athlete would be the one to eat.
Well, but that would be very,
like muscle's kinda tough to eat though, isn't it?
Is muscle easier to eat than fat?
Like would I be good to eat? well you you'd be good for basting
basting you and your own juices probably probably but the thing is Jim like I've
got a lot of body fat on me like my stomach for instance would be useless I
would assume sure like but maybe my arm would be decent like it's not I'm not
all ripped up but there's like you don't want to eat muscle though right no that
is what you eat you eat muscle okay but
You gotta have some fat for the flavor. That's true
So but you don't have too much fat so my stomach would be bad for eating
Oh, you're your stomach would be bad unless you wanted to make like a Josh confit right then he would use your stomach fat
Now people ordinarily ain't for eating however if you, if you're hungry, and nobody believes in eatin' himself more than me.
This guy is a hayseed.
He talks for five, six minutes, and then just, you know, but all that said, let me tell you this,
can't wait to play Sunday.
We need to find some sort of sad bed or some sort of self-help bed to play
Under his audio like we need to go to YouTube and like what's the bed that?
That Jimmy Fallon uses for like the the what does that biddy does where he writes the thank-you notes or whatever
I don't know. I don't watch following me neither
But I know of the bit we need to find some sort of bed to use
Where every time we talk about Brock Osweiler and we play his audio of his self-help, nobody believes in himself more
than me. It sounds like me when I take too many pain pills and start tweeting at 3 in
the morning.
I love y'all. Thanks for listening.
Well, no, listen, it gets deep. They used to make fun of me for that in Philadelphia.
Like I would get up, if I was either drunk or maybe like I had a couple of, I don't
know, hydrocodone,
I would just sit there at four in the morning,
Jilly's asleep, Luther's asleep, and before you know it,
I'm going full breakdown mode, like,
I'm kind of Brock Osweiler in it, if you will.
I would tell stories about how I used to cry
at the Houston skyline and stuff.
Like when you wake up, you're like, oh no.
Did I do that?
Please, please, tell me it was a dream.
Why, why did I do this? That's Brock Osweiler. He really could write a self-help book're like, oh no. Did I do that? Please, please, tell me it was a dream. Why, why did I do this?
That's Brock Osweiler.
He really could write a self-help book.
Oh, he could.
Brock Osweiler, motivational speaker for himself.
Because he really doesn't motivate anybody else.
No, unless having a good practice, that's your goal.
I am so tired of hearing about
what a good practice they had.
Listen, I had a good practice today, and it really started yesterday with watching the game
I would liken it to you know when one of your sows goes missing
What a putz this guy is what a maroonoon. All right. 713-212-5790. 713-212-5790. Would you
like to write the title for Brock's self-help book? Help us out. Tweet those in. 713-212-5790.
Would you like to write the title of Brock's self-help book? How does that sound, Jim? Would you like to
do that? Yeah, sounds like fun.
His self-help, and by that I mean he's literally helping himself.
I mean, golly, it sounds like a swell time.
Uh, we, chicken soup for the, I said, what did I say, chicken soup for the hayseed soul?
Yeah, maybe it's like chicken soup for the practicing soul.
Yeah, evidently he practices real good. Oh, he's good at practicing.
So why not? Alright, if you want to get in 713-212-5790, top of the hour.
You will hear from Gary Danielson.
He'll be on the call of the SEC Championship Game this weekend.
And there's some drama going on in the SEC.
