Cowboys, yes, Tank.
Yeah.
Did you know Jerry Seinfeld's first name was Jerome?
I did not know that Jerry Seinfeld's first name was Jerome.
Is Jerry Seinfeld black? That's what we were just talking about there, but unless, my bad. I did not know that Jerry Seinfeld's first name was Jerome. Is Jerry Seinfeld black?
That's what we were just talking about there. I did not know that. I did not know that. Let's
call these Stitt. Let's call North Dakota. Let's call North Dakota. Adam, who are we calling?
You tell me. Do you want to call a restaurant or a bar? Well, let's see here. I would assume
now what time is it over in North Dakota? Is it 2 in North Dakota?
That's mountain time right is it or are they in the central time zone?
I honestly don't know the time zone that North Dakota's I think you're right. I think it's 2 o'clock
So it's 2 o'clock would anybody be I mean if it's on a college campus
I would imagine people would be in a bar at least somebody would be in the bar working right?
All right, let's try it. Well, what restaurants do you have like Denny's like they don't have a ton of fine dining
No, I have I have the the do the do littles which is where they went with
Howie and Jeffrey Lurie, okay. I have a Mexican restaurant. They have an Italian restaurant
Okay, look give me a bar first. Okay, the bar will call the bison turf
Alright, the bison turf. Let's call the bison turf
bison turf. All right, the bison turf. Let's call the bison turf.
We're calling the bison turf in Bismarck, North Dakota.
The number you are calling from is blocked. It's blocked? How the hell can you know? That's bizarre, so we can't call the Bison Turf, is what you're saying.
Right, we'll try Chubb's Pub.
Let's try Chubb's Pub.
Alright, we are calling now Chubb's Pub in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Alright, see if we can find some North Dakotans to talk to.
Hey, who's speaking, please?
This is Lori.
Hi, Lori, this is Josh Ennis at WIP in Philadelphia. How you doing?
I'm good. How are you?
Good. I have to tell you that you're on the radio live speaking to millions of people in Philadelphia.
So I have to tell you that you're on the radio live speaking to millions of people in Philadelphia. So I have to tell you that legally,
but we wanted to talk to somebody in North Dakota
about Carson Wentz.
Now, are you guys big Carson Wentz fans there?
Well, of course we are.
Now, Chubb's Pub, is it popping right now?
Not at the moment.
It's just kind of our downtime right now,
but it will be popping in probably 35 to 40 minutes. the down tie so at about 240 is what you're saying
Is that like college kids come over and get a little crazy? Is that what happens? Well?
That's our happy hours from 4 to 7 and your time zone is different than ours because right now
It's like a little bit like 3 o'clock here now. Okay. We were off on the time
I thought it might have been 2 o'clock so 3 o'clock So you're saying in four to seven is when things are gonna go down
That's when our happy hour starts and then in the evening like Friday night. I was gonna be so hopping
Oh, so do you know I would imagine it's Friday night
How do you define hopping in Bismarck, North Dakota and we're in Fargo Oh Fargo. I'm sorry
I thought you guys were in is there like how far is Bismarck from Fargo? Oh, it's oh, it's
150 200 miles. Okay. I thought you guys were in Bismarck for some reason, but you're in Fargo
No, we are in Fargo. All right. And now are you born and raised in North Dakota? I myself. Yes, I was
So what is it like so North Dakota? I've never been to North Dakota before and
Well, can you describe what we're missing in North Dakota? I've never been. Oh
You don't know what you're missing. Well, can you describe what we're missing in North Dakota?
I've never been.
Oh, gosh.
There's so many things.
I mean, the people are wonderful.
The bar scene is great.
The college community is wonderful.
And the weather, you never know what's
going to happen with the weather.
It is just simply an amazing place to be.
That's why I'm still here.
Now the weather though seems like it would be miserable.
From afar it seems like it would always be cold and snowy.
Well, it is like today now it is sunshine
and there's no breeze.
Yesterday was cold, wavy and windy.
Winter there can be very cold, yes.
You just never know what to expect.
It can change in the drop of a hat.
And what, I'm sorry, what was your name again?
My name is Lori.
Lori at Chubb's Pub in North Dakota.
Now how close are you to the campus of North Dakota State?
We are about less than a mile.
So less than a mile.
A mile or so walking distance if you want to.
Oh, that's great.
And is, now as far as Carson Wentz goes,
does he ever come into the establishment?
I personally have not seen him, but he has been here.
He has?
Oh, OK.
So he goes in, has a good time, obviously.
He's a grown man.
He can do that.
What are your thoughts on Carson Wentz?
How beloved is Carson Wentz there?
As far as Carson Wentz goes, he is one of the most down-to-earth, wonderful, fun, funny,
he's happy, he has nothing bad to say about anyone, he is just a good North Dakotan kind
of down-to-earth fella.
You guys really are down-to-earth though, like it's really like we're in Philadelphia
so everybody here is on edge and angry all the time.
You guys are very pleasant, you're such a nice lady.
Well thank you very much. Now you bet. Now what do you know about Philadelphia
where Carson Wentz is going to play now? I don't know very much about Philadelphia.
Have you heard any of the things about the fans or the Philadelphia Eagles?
Well I do kind of watch football and I'm I can can't say I'm a, I've been a, I'm a fan
of football, so I like to watch all football games.
I've, I've not heard anything bad about Philadelphia.
I guess over here we haven't heard anything good about Philadelphia or bad either.
We except for now that we're glad that he's there.
Sure.
Now is he like a, as far as celebrity status goes in town,
is he the biggest celebrity in town?
Absolutely, right now, yes, he is.
And he has been since he was playing football at NDSU.
Yeah, and obviously he's a big star there.
And what do the people say about him there?
Like, whenever you talk to college kids
and you overhear them at the bar,
you're serving them at Chubbs, what do you hear them say about him there? Like whenever you talk to college kids and you overhear them at the bar, you're serving
them at Chubbs, what do you hear them say about Carson Wentz?
I can't say that I've heard anything bad there.
He's good, he's a good family, you know, he loves his family, he loves football, he loves
school when he was in college.
He loves, loves, loves football.
He's just a happy-go-lucky good fella.
Well, that's great.
Well, Lori, it was nice talking to you.
Well, thank you very much for calling.
You bet, have a good one.
You have a super, super day.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
Bye.
I'm telling you, man, I might move to North Dakota.
Oh my God.
I mean, the weather sounds like it sucks,
but the people are very pleasant.
Like Fargo, The movie is very accurate
I mean what a nice lady. She's so nice. I don't know. She's so nice. I don't trust her
The East Coast in me is just like screw you
Somebody what do you want? Laurie's clearly like there's bodies buried underneath chubs pop and she killed them
Yes, I do want to call somewhere else, Adam?
What are other options? Your other options you can call the Side Street Grillin' Pub. Okay. The Blarney Stone Pub.
Okay, the Blarney Stone. O'Leary's Pub. Okay. Or Lucky 13's Pub. You know what we're gonna call?
We're gonna call O'Leary's. Okay. And they're in Fargo, right?
All right, so we're calling O'Leary's Pub. That just sounds like a place where people would already be drunk.
Yes.
Because college bars are one thing.
I want corner bars like in Maniunk where guys are drinking all day.
Like pop pops.
Hmm.
I want like an angry dude.
Hello? It doesn't sound like an angry dude. Hello?
It doesn't sound like nobody's there.
Alright, nobody's there.
Alright, do you want to try the Blarney Stone?
Let's try the Blarney Stone.
We are now calling the Blarney Stone in Fargo, North Dakota.
And we are going to talk with them about Carson Wentz.
I don't know if anybody can top Lori. She was a peach.
You have a super, super day.
Super.
Super, super day, she says.
She knew nothing about Philadelphia.
Hello?
Hey, who's speaking?
Cameron.
Cameron, what's going on, man?
My name is Josh Shinnis on WIP in Philadelphia.
How you doing?
I'm doing all right.
How are you doing?
Very good.
Now, you're live on the radio. I have to let you know that.
Is this the Blarney Stone?
It is.
Alright man. How are things in Fargo?
Great right now. How are things in Philadelphia?
Very good. Now obviously Carson Wentz is going to play here.
Does that get you guys excited there?
Oh yeah. The whole city of Fargo is pretty excited.
So are you a big fan of the Bison?
Yeah. I went to go to NDSU.
Oh cool man. So as far as the legendary status of Carson Wentz like how big of a star is he in Fargo?
He's an even bigger star now in Fargo. He's he's a legend. He's North Dakota legend. Is there anybody in the bar right now?
Kind of kind of empty right now. There's a few people a few people now
Is this more of a college bar you guys close to the campus?
No, we are actually in West Fargo.
We are a little ways.
We're a few miles away.
So is this more of a bar where a couple of old timers
will kind of scraggle in all day and just
have a couple of beers?
We're a lot busier at night.
It's kind of a pub atmosphere.
OK.
What's the top thing on your menu food-wise?
Food-wise, Probably shepherd's pie.
Ah yeah, you can't have a good Irish pub without that shepherd's pie now.
No.
That's great. Now, so what's the action like there in Fargo, North Dakota?
We called, what did we just call the Chubb's Pub?
Now, do you know anything about Chubb's Pub? Now, they were kind of empty
and the lady that answered was very nice, Lori,
but she couldn't give us any real help on the scene in Fargo, North Dakota because
Philadelphia is obviously a big city, it's much different.
What is the atmosphere like in Fargo, North Dakota on a day in, day out basis?
In terms of like...
Like is it a slow, tight place?
I mean is it bustling?
What's the traffic like?
I mean what's the scene?
It's a pretty easygoing place in general.
Never too busy.
Now, you a big football fan?
Yeah.
What do you know about the city of Philadelphia and the fans?
I know...
You know, not a whole lot, honestly.
So, I mean, have you ever heard any stories
about the fans in Philadelphia?
I know they're very passionate.
Oh, absolutely. Now, have you ever heard stories about about the fans in Philadelphia? I know they're very passionate.
Oh, absolutely. Now, have you ever heard stories about snowballs and Santa Claus?
No.
Oh, this is good. The story didn't make it to Fargo yet. Thank God.
You guys play hockey there, right?
Yeah.
Now, do you watch hockey on a regular basis?
Once in a while. I'm more of a basketball fan.
Oh, okay. Who's your team?
Timberwolves.
Oh, the Teals. So it's North Dakota Timberwolves country.
Yeah.
You look at all those moves they're making, they're pretty solid, huh?
Yeah, they're looking pretty good for the future.
That's good.
Can you like hand the bar to a pa- the phone to a patron in the bar?
Sure.
Okay.
Give me one moment.
Good, let me see here.
Find the drunkest one.
Philadelphia.
Yeah.
Philadelphia.
Find a guy named Moose. Yes. He's stocking. Philadelphia.
Find a guy named Moose.
Yes.
He's stocking.
Let me put you on hold for one second, okay?
Alright, cool.
No problem.
Alright, so we're on hold at the Blarney Stone.
They don't have music?
No, they got the beat.
That's solid.
They don't have, you usually don't have hold music at a bar, right?
We're going to see if we can find somebody to talk to us that's drinking at the Blarney
still.
I want to know if they have a Beisenberger or if that's considered like taboo.
Like sacrilege.
Like if we had an eagle burrito.
What?
Eagle burrito?
I don't know.
That would be pretty sacrilege.
Let's see if they find any.
There's gotta be four people in there.
He's gotta find somebody.
Hopefully somebody with a really...
They all sound the same though
Like they're fitting the stereotype. They all sound like they're from Fargo, North Dakota
Chipper, I like that. There's nothing wrong with being in a good mood. You wanted somebody angry
Well, no, it's just someone that's drunk is more of what I was looking for. That's here. Like we can go over to
What's the bar there on Ridge the?
What's it called? There's pop pops and there's the bar there on Ridge? The, what's it called? There's Pop Pops and there's the other one
on Ridge where there's always
some drunk just standing outside
no matter what time of day.
I'm beginning to think he's never going to come back.
Or this is the biggest thing that's ever happened
to him and he's really nervous.
They're all so nice.
No one's like, no I'm not going to talk to you.
It's like, F off.
I made him more Scottish. in the last five minutes he probably talked
to more people he's ever talked to in his entire life probably it's like wall
this is big don't you know everybody I bet they ha I bet he hunts but he hunts Ask him his latest kill.
How many elk heads are on the wall?
Yes, yeah, we have joe here talk to you. Hey joe joe
Hey joe, what's happening? Oh not much man. Are you from fargo? I am how the born and raised there?
Uh, actually, I was born and raised in southern in Southern California. I moved up here about 30 years ago.
What's funny is you were born in Southern California, yet living there long enough,
you kind of sound like you're from North Dakota. You kind of have that sound.
I hope I do. I hope I do.
Yeah, and obviously you love North Dakota. You're a big fan of Carson Wentz?
Big time.
Yes.
Yeah, I'm a Bismarck boy.
Obviously, yes. He's from Bismarck, and you're obviously a big fan of Carson Wentz. What is it about Carson Wentz that Big time. Yeah, he's a Bismarck boy. Obviously, yes, he's from Bismarck and you're obviously a big fan of Carson Wentz.
What is it about Carson Wentz that you love so much?
I love the fact he's down to earth.
He's got his small town roots and he stays attached to those.
That's what I like about him.
See, what I find fascinating is you're from Southern California.
Now, how old are you?
I am 50.
Oh, so you lived in Southern California then in your 20s, so you of grew up there if you've only lived in in North Dakota for 30 years
So that's obviously not the friendliest place in the world neither is Philadelphia
But it sounds like North Dakota is literally the nicest place in terms of people ever. That's why I stayed here
Really? Yes, so on a given day
It just sounds like the kind of place where you can just have a flat tire, somebody will stop over and help you.
You know what I'm saying?
Without a doubt.
You don't even have to worry about it.
If you've got a flat tire and you don't have the right tools, somebody will come and help
you out within minutes.
What are you drinking at the bar at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a flat tire?
I'm having a beer.
I'm going over some advertising with a rep.
So I just had a quick beer because it's a Friday afternoon.
I'm like, okay, I'll have a beer.
What do you do for a living?
I own restaurants.
Oh, really?
I'm guessing in that area, right?
Yeah, across the state.
Like at TGI Fridays or anything like that?
Actually, I used to own the Applebee's.
And now I own an up-and-coming franchise
called Marco's Pizza.
Oh, really?
What kind of pizza is it?
Is it like thin crust?
What is it?
We have all those crusts, thin, thick, light.
But we make our dough every day.
So it's kind of one of those, hey, we go for the freshness side.
So a 50-year-old guy living in North Dakota, you own some restaurants.
I bet you're pretty loaded, huh?
Loaded is a loaded term, if you will.
Oh, sure, but I'm guessing you got a little money in the bank, right?
I got a little money in the bank, yeah. That's good. Have you ever met Carson Wentz?
I haven't, but I've watched him play many times.
And what are the things you hear people say about Carson Wentz that they like about him?
Other than his skill level?
Yeah, like as a person. What do you hear about him as...
Carson Wentz the person?
That he's really in touch with his roots once again.
He's a family guy.
He's a super nice guy
You know a lot of us here who are big fans of him
You know we don't get to know him personally because you know we respect his privacy and let him do his thing
When he's not when he's not on the field doing what he does best, and he's there
We'll give him a nod and we'll give him a you know a wave, but we'll let him be him
You know I'm saying That sounds nothing like Philadelphia.
Yep, that's why I live here in North Dakota.
Now, what do you know about Philadelphia,
like the fans in Philadelphia?
What have you heard?
Well, I heard they're a little rough, a little tough,
you know, and I saw the Invincible movie,
and, you know, that kind of puts it up,
and I'm like, okay, I think Carson,
he will kill them with kindness,
and he will kind of help tone them down,
and they might lose that reputation of being a hostile fan base if you will.
No one has ever been able to do that in Philadelphia so if he does he's a miracle work.
Carson Wentz has some magic in him, he has some magic in him.
Well I hope you're right man, I really hope you are.
Hey.
Hey, well anyway, what was it, Joe?
Joe, yep.
Joe, great talking to you buddy, hand the phone back to the other fella
You got it. Thank you. You bet with these
It's amazing. Everybody's so nice
Word that so we're still at the Blarney stone. Obviously, you guys are the nicest people
I want to just pass that along like obviously for such a miserable weather place seems like it would always be cold
You guys are also chipper and nice. That's pretty nice day out today. What's the weather? What's nice for you guys?
I would say right now. It's probably 70 degrees. Oh, it's better than us
We're going today. Yeah, it's really nice day today. No, let me ask you this
I need to know this and I know that you're an Irish pup
Yeah, but are there any dead animals on the wall? There are no dead animals on the wall here. Do you hunt?
I do not hunt. Do you know anybody who does?
Most people I know hunt.
What do they usually hunt?
Deer?
Deer, geese, pheasants.
Is it sacrilege to eat a bison burger considering that you're in the home of the bison?
No.
You like bison burger?
Or are we more straight up with a normal burger?
I mean bison burgers are alright.
I'll take a hamburger though. What
kind of meat do you put inside the shepherd's pie? Ground beef. Oh, that's good. I like to hear that.
Well, anyway, I know you're busy. It was nice talking to you, buddy. Yeah, you too. Thanks for
calling. You bet. Have a good one. Yeah, you too. Bye. All right. Bye-bye. All right. So we'll skip
the update. You want to call one more place? We can call one more place. All right. We'll skip the
update. Fine. Really quickly. Throw in this, really really quick throw in the sponsor for the update mark okay done
there is no sponsor oh good yeah super all right so you want to call one more
place you're calling the herd and horns oh that sounds like a place that would
love them some Carson West some bison burgers too man the herd and horns okay
we're calling the herd and horns. All right.
Boy, they're really nice people in North Dakota.
I like how what they know is...
Well, I saw the Invincible movie.
I'm calling her.
Angie, how can I help you?
Hey, who's speaking?
Angie.
Hi, Angie.
My name is Josh.
I'm on the radio in Philadelphia.
How are you?
Good.
How are you?
Very good.
I got to tell you that you're on the radio, but we want to talk to people about Carson Wentz. Are you guys excited that he got drafted?
We're extremely excited.
Now are you a big fan of Carson Wentz?
I'm a big fan of Bison football and Bison athletics.
Now are you originally from, are you born and raised there?
I am not, I'm actually from California.
Really? Yeah, because I was about to say you didn't sound like you're from North Dakota.
No. No. I'm not gonna lie, Really? Yeah, because I was about to say, you didn't sound like you're from North Dakota. No.
No.
I'm not going to lie, you sound really hot, Angie.
Thank you.
What do you look like?
I'm a little sweaty right now.
What do you look like?
What do I look like?
Yeah, I'm not trying to be a creep.
I'm on the radio.
I'm not a total creep.
But you do sound hot, and I wanted to compliment you
on that.
Thank you.
I have brunette hair, short.
Oh, OK.
How short? I'm 5'3". Oh, I like that. 5'3", brunette hair. Short. Okay, how short?
I'm 5'3".
Oh, I like that. 5'3", brunette.
Are you very tan? You sound tan.
I am. I am tan. I'm from California.
So we are all tan there.
Now how long have you lived in North Dakota?
I've been here for 8 months now.
And I'm guessing you're there for school?
My boyfriend is an NDSU wrestler. He has a sports scholarship, so I'm here for him so you followed him there huh I did I'm telling
you if you guys don't end up married you should just murder him because you move
from California to North Dakota to be with a wrestler trust me I plan on it
oh really is he like a stud or what or do you just, but if it doesn't happen, then yes, you might see me on the news.
Oh, good news.
Has he given you a ring yet? Are you guys engaged?
Not yet.
Can you give the phone to somebody in the bar that maybe knows Carson Wentz?
Can you ask people, hey, do you know Carson Wentz personally?
Sure, give me a second.
Cool.
We're back on hold again, this time the third and horn in Fargo, North Dakota
We are gonna find somebody who knows Carson Wentz personally the only rude thing they do in North Dakota is put you on hold
I know and not play music for you. Really. I was really hoping to hear Christopher cross while I was on hold
I like how you're talking about how hot she sounds and she's like, yeah, my boyfriend's a wrestler. Well, you know what?
I'm not afraid. I'm
Hey, Rob, what's up, buddy
How much working? Oh, yeah, man. This is Josh in Philadelphia. We're on the radio. Do you know Carson Wentz?
Met him a few times. I mean so is he a nice guy
The nicest he's very humble very nice guy. So does he frequent the herd and horns?
To eat, not frequent, but he comes in and eats.
What does he usually get to eat?
Uh, I think he had the Union Burger the first time, that was uh,
barbecue sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, hamburger, and onion straws.
What kind of bun do you guys use?
It's a Pub Brioche bun.
Oh, that sounds good. What kind of fries do you have?
Do you do like steak fries or are they home cut fries?
No, they're a 5 eighths.
Oh, 5 eighths, that's good. That's a good size.
5 sixteenths cut, yep.
Oh, that's a good size.
But not super thick.
So is he a big time celebrity there when he walks in?
Does it shut down the whole bar?
Oh, since the start of the year, even before he knew he was getting drafted, he, I mean
he signed a lot of autographs I'm guessing.
People stop him everywhere he's at.
So he does deal with that then there, when a lot of people walk up to him and say, I
love you, can you sign this?
Oh, he's the friendliest kid you'll ever meet. Well here's the thing, from the sounds of it, we've called a lot of people walk up to him say I love you. He's the friendliest kid you'll ever meet.
Well here's the thing from the sounds of it we've called a couple of bars everybody in Fargo is
friendly. We're a pretty friendly place very low crime. Oh really what do you have like a percentage
of like a crime rate there or anything that you could tell us I might move there. Probably
two murders in the last year.
Really?
Only two people have been murdered in Fargo in the last year?
Probably, and one was a cop three months ago.
Wow.
So, and as we talk to you, before we wrap up with you, as we're looking for people who
know Carson Wentz, just as far as what you know about Philadelphia,
what do you know about Philadelphia and the fans?
Well, I'm a pretty huge Chicago Cubs fan, so I...
Why are you a Cubs fan?
Because I grew up here in Minnesota.
Twins didn't have a Twins package yet on TV,
and the Cubs were always on WGN
when I'd get home from school, so I just started following. Mark Grace as my idol. Oh I see I understand you know anything about the Phillies?
Oh yeah I know a lot about me so I played so. Oh sure but do you like that I mean what do you know
about the Philadelphia Phillies? Oh sure never got rid of Rollins. Ryan Howard strikes out too much.
You could host a show here. Bring him on down. It's your show.
I'm a cowboy fan, so I don't like the Eagles that much.
Oh, no! You can't say that!
People are going to crush you now.
He's going to do great there. He's going to do great there, though.
Who? The running back?
Carson.
Oh, Carson. Oh, I thought you were talking about the cowboy.
How the hell? I guess you end up a Cowboys fan
because there's nothing else there in North Dakota.
Because I'm an idiot. I thought you'd talk about the Cowboys. How the hell, I guess you end up a Cowboys fan because there's nothing else there in North Dakota
Because I'm an idiot
So is a guy that likes to be hurt after week three absolutely sure realist yes you get it now Oh, yeah, now if you're a Cowboys fan, what do you know about Philadelphia Eagles fans?
They're diehard they
They love them whether they're losing or winning. They remind me of a Cub fan.
Well, I don't know. Well, maybe?
That's just what I got off it. I'm pretty passionate.
Well, that part is fair. Well, anyway, I'll let you go back to work. Good talking to you.
Thanks. Go Eagles. I'll say that because Carson's there now.
Alright. G'day. Alright. Thank you. I don't think that's what they say there. Anyway,
so there you go. Now you got to experience what four different places that we call talking to
people in bars in North Dakota. They're the nicest people. Like I may move to Fargo. Every time I
make that joke about being fired and going to Des Moines, I'm changing that. I am going to Fargo.
It sounds lovely. And by the way, we're not the only
people to listen to people at bars in Fargo about Carson Wentz. Yeah. Did you hear Howie Roseman
last night say he heard the host and the hostess talk about Carson Wentz while they were at dinner
with him in Fargo? Yeah. He said he's a real down to earth guy and how he's like, man, this is the
right guy for the Eagles. Yeah. So there you go. They influenced the pick. Now in one hour or so about one hour and five minutes from
now you will hear from Carson Wentz himself the man will speak right here on
WIP at 530.
