Episode Date: June 16, 2025

The trolling segments were a giant hit in Philly. I think it's because Philly fans are easier to troll. Anywho, I gave it a shot in Houston. Hijinks ensued... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit ...megaphone.fm/adchoices

Why not Josh Innes? For that number one spot.
Starting point is 00:01:50 This is Josh Innes. I'm coming for that number one spot. All right, six o'clock, and as I say a lot on the show, people truly don't listen to what you say. They hear what they want to hear. And when they get angry, oh, you're just trolling me. You're just a troll that's trying to get ratings. They do not hear.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Well, let's let's what is it? I know you can hear, but I don't think you're listening. People don't listen. So here's to be fair, what is your job here at the station is to get people talking and to get ratings. Absolutely. So everything we do is to get ratings. That's true. Nobody ever calls like Bill O'Brien, like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:02:31 You only ran that pass play on third and 14 because you were trying to get a first down. Nobody. Well, no, nobody does that. And more than likely on third and 14, they'd run a draw. So that would never come up. So here's how it works. If you're listening now, I'm going to tell you that here in just a matter of seconds I'm going to make up a lot of opinions
Starting point is 00:02:53 None of them are real opinions of mine. They're all completely outlandish But as I say a lot people do not actually listen So you have H lost over the weekend. And really, U of H is a waste of a football program anyway, and their fan base is a bunch of morons out there anyhow. And here's the thing, people at U of H have this idea that they're somehow relevant and they hang on to the past so much. But let's actually think about the past of the University of Houston for a second, okay? Let's think about this. Not just the present, let's think about the past. Let's think about some of the great things about U of H that are actually overrated and overblown.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I've got a list. I've got like a Mount Rushmore of them. First of all, it's pretty apparent that Andre Ware is the most overrated Heisman trophy winner ever. Andre Ware shouldn't have even been a Heisman trophy winner. Andre Ware was a waste of time and they cheated anyway. U of H, to go along with all those other Southwest Conference schools, they were just cheaters, they all broke rules, and it all came back to bite them. Second of all, if we're just talking about the U of H program here as we're trolling along at 602. So I watched the Phi Slam a Jama documentary finally last night I was laying around in bed it finally came on again I had it recorded and I know that
Starting point is 00:04:20 this is not going to be a popular opinion. I know this. But really that team is maybe the most, I mean we talk about overrated. They were extremely overrated. Hakeem Olajuwon, if you think about the great centers of all time, even in college, I mean let's be real, dude got absolutely schooled by Patrick Ewing. Patrick Ewing was his daddy in college and he was his daddy at the pro level. Just think about like again and if you guys want in 713-212-5790 if you'd like to get in. Because if you think about it just go back through the history. Guy V Lewis gets all this credit for all this stuff he created. Oh wow you recruited black guys. You're such a brilliant coach. Wow, do you want a medal?
Starting point is 00:05:08 I watched this whole documentary about Guy V. Lewis. Guy V. Lewis. He was doing revolutionary stuff. Oh, you mean he discovered that black guys could play basketball? Wow, Guy V. Lewis, you're brilliant. So, and listen, if you want in in 713-212-5790 trolling along making up opinions and whatnot. So you've got Andre Ware overrated Heisman Trophy winner. Oh and Case Keenum my god! Case Keenum if I never have to hear about Case Keenum again I will be 100% okay with that. My God, Case Keenum is overrated trash.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Andre Ware should have never won the Heisman. Wow, you picked on a bunch of bad schools in the Southwestern Conference. Let me tell you, this Phi Slam-A-Jam-A documentary again, who cares? Wow, Guy Villalous, hey, what was your recruiting strategy, coach? Well, no one else had black guys, so I recruited black guys. Wow, brilliant. Yet you couldn't win the big game. Couldn't win it. So we got people that are calling, 713-212-5790. 713-212, if I'm being unfair, let me know.
Starting point is 00:06:20 If I'm being unfair to the University of Houston, let me know. 713-212-5790. Just, we do Mount Rushmore's, right? Do you guys ever do Mount Rushmore's? Jim, does anybody ever do Mount Rushmore's? Oh yeah. Alright.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Mount Rushmore of overrated collegiate athletes. Andre Ware, clearly. Case Keenum, clearly. Let's see here. Oh, all of five slam a jam. Why couldn't Hakim, why couldn't they handle Georgetown? And how the hell do you go out and lose to North Carolina State? All right, 605-713-2125790, just making stuff up as we go, making up opinions, hot takes here, trollinglling whatever you want to call it so let's see what the people are talking about Tim you're on 790 what's up hey thanks for taking my call Josh you bet so about the Tom Herndon stuff you know basically you know everyone keeps saying Tom Herman's gonna leave. Okay?
Starting point is 00:07:25 Yep. So here's the deal. Tom Herman, he should quit right now. He's wasting his time. Just go up to Austin now and get the stuff over with. Right. And here's where most U of H fans I think that I talked to are finally in agreement with you.
Starting point is 00:07:40 U of H has all the facilities now. We have the stadium. We have everything we need. Coaches are waiting in line. We're now at destination. Tom Herman wanted to come to U of H. He lobbied for our job. We had Brials.
Starting point is 00:07:55 We replaced him with Summer. We had Summer. We replaced him with Herman. So if Herman goes, Lottie freakin' die. Whoever's next in line, we'll bring him in and we'll keep on winning. Next man up is what my man says. 713-212-5790. Anthony, you're on 790. Go ahead, buddy. To say that that Akima Lodge in the line was dominated by Patrick Ewing, that's just insane,
Starting point is 00:08:19 my man. Insane. He had dominated David Robinson in the finals, in the Western Conference finals. He dominated Patrick Ewing all through his career. Keema Lodge-Iwan may not have been the best in college, but when he was in the NBA, she dominated him. Let me tell you something, let me tell you something, if you give me a chance to start a team with any big man from that era, and you give me, you give me Patrick Ewing, you give me David Robinson, you give me, I mean there's Luke Longley, you give me guys like that and you say you can have a team to start with
Starting point is 00:08:53 those kind of centers or I can start it with Hakeem. Hakeem's probably fourth, fifth, sixth on that list. You're crazy. No, I'm just keeping it real. Hakeem, I'm not. Let me ask you a question, Let me ask you a question. Did you see the talent, like the Bulls won all those championships. They had talented center that shut Hakeem down.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Period. The Bulls had no talented center that shut Elijah. Of course. Did you not see Bill Winnington when he went head up against Elijah? None of them dominated Elijah. Now the team might have been better, but the centers wasn't better. Be real with me.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Be real with me. Who would you start a team with? Luke Longley or Hakeem? And be real, who won more? Who won more? Because he had Michael Jordan and better players around him. Hakeem Elijah Wynne, during that time, was the best center in the league. Why don't you ask the MVP, ask David Robinson, ask Michael Jordan.
Starting point is 00:09:49 You know who you really gave David Robinson headaches though was Judd Bushler. You know, do you know the year that David Robinson won the MVP? Did you see what Olajuwon did to him in the final? Olajuwon got lucky. That's luck? Yes. Shaq was his daddy and everybody knows that. Do you know who, during Olajuwon's era, who led the league almost every year in black shot?
Starting point is 00:10:17 Big deal. I'll take Shaq any day. I'll take Luke Longley who never got his just due. Shaq was a bad dude. Who dominated Shaq in Orlando 4-0? Just because Orlando lost doesn't mean Shaq got dominated, bro. Ask Shaquille O'Neal what Elijah Juan did to him. That's fine. Listen, 713-212-5790 making up opinions here here at 609. That's what we're doing, right? I mean, let's be real. Nobody actually listens to anything you say. You can tell them, hey, I'm going to say something I don't mean that's completely outlandish,
Starting point is 00:10:56 but people will still hear what they want to hear. Let's see here, trolling at 609. Let's see if anybody else wants to try to defend Elijah. Let's see here. Go ahead, buddy. Yeah. Hey, I agree with you that we should have won that championship game. We did blow a guy. We should not have wanted to go all four corners. That wasn't our style. But for you to say that about Elijah, I mean, I know you're trying to stimulate us to keep your golf as it's working, but man you're golf-based. They want the three final fours in a row and you know he's willing to feed a one MVP up that tournament on a losing team.
Starting point is 00:11:34 You know we lost to any state MVP of the tournament. Let me ask you a question. Let me ask you a question. If you could start a team with one guy would it be Ewing or would it be Olajuwon? Well who's got the ring, Josh? That doesn't matter. That does matter. Who's got the championship ring in college?
Starting point is 00:11:49 That was a better, that Georgetown team that beat us off, yeah, Clyde won the player for the draft year before, they were a better team. They beat us. Let me ask you a question about Guy V. Lewis. What was so special about him? Oh, he discovered to draft black players. Why is that special?
Starting point is 00:12:03 Well, I mean, you know, Yao Ming's in the Hall of Fame, right? He's a Hall of Fame coach from the standpoint of his win-loss record. Remember, this was a Southwest Conference before the conference they're in now. And, you know, back then, Arkansas had some pretty good teams, Texas did. And he did have the game of the century because he did come up with the innovation with coming into the Dolmen. Yeah, there's the Texas Wesleyan guy or UTEP that won as well but there was a
Starting point is 00:12:28 lot of death threats. Don Haskins is a considerably better coach than Guy V Lewis. Well I don't know you know in college sports Josh a lot of times it's about recruiting. It doesn't matter and we were cutting local kids at home and he has pretty good track record. We're like the Buffalo Bills of college basketball. No, I got you man. No, I get where you're coming from. 713-212-5790. 713-212-5790. Reality is you can say whatever the hell you want on the radio that's positive and people will never hear it. Starting point is 00:16:05 dude Kevin Cobb case Keenum, I don't know what your problem was case Keenum, but he made you of a traveling he made a relevant Yeah Well, I'm happy for him, but he was so revelent that they couldn't even win conference USA Well, that's someone's fault. He was negotiating with A&M at the time And you know why he did because no one stays at Houston very long. That's because it's not that revelant. I don't get it what your hatred is towards U of H tonight. What do you think about Akeem Olajuwon? Overrated or no? Uh, no. We want a damn championship with the guy.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Right, well, no. Not at U of H. Alright, 713-212-5790 making stuff up here. I mean, pretty amazing, right? I mean, it's pretty baffling. You know, people say, oh, you just make stuff up on the radio. You wouldn't know the difference, clearly. 713-212-5790. Let me see where my calls went here.
Starting point is 00:17:02 I messed up my screen. Where did we go? Aha. Let's see here Mark you're on 790 go ahead Hey, man, just real quick. I mean come on Josh You're a lot smarter than this man Luke long we over a chemo large one who has more Does not matter Better player, you know the better player. Come on man Luke Longley couldn't hold oldest stops job come on man you're better than that Bill winning to the Pedro Eliza one does not matter who's got more rings the better
Starting point is 00:17:32 challenge the better challenge was let me find one let me find a more realist let me ask you a question is Trent Joplin better than Dan Marino? yeah he's got rings you're out of your freaking mind I like you man but you're wrong all right well see i couldn't even get my other question in i think it was a more fair comparison who's a better player all time hakeema lajuwan or horace grant i think it's a very fair question to ask uh let's see preston go ahead yo what's up man? Hey dude. Hey, I was gonna say, since you hate taking collars so much, I think you should roll this segment 24-7 because it is absolutely hilarious. Well thank you, I appreciate that Preston, but don't blow my cover yet. Let's see here, Brownie, you're on 790, go ahead. Hello? Brownie? Hello? Hey, what's up? Hello? Yeah. Can you hear me? Yeah, go ahead. Great.
Starting point is 00:18:33 So you're saying Luke Longley is better than the key because he has more rings? Yes, that's the way I judge things. So is Steve Kerr better than Michael Jordan? He has more rings than Jordan. Yes. Yeah, you're just trying to get some callers in, man. No, no, I'm not. What would make you think that? I have no idea why you would think that. Uh, let's see here. Uh, Tim you're on seven 90. Go ahead. Hey Josh, first time caller. Um, you earlier said, uh, Patrick Ewing is better than Kim Lodgeman. I just want to go over a couple of
Starting point is 00:19:04 things. Please do. Yes. Yeah. Kim Lodgeem lojran went to 12 all-star games patrick ewing went to 11 keem lojran had a single season mvp and two fouls mvp's patrick ewing had none all mba teams keem lojran had 12 to patrick ewing 7 all the teams keem lojran had 12 to patrick ewing 7 all defensive teams patrick ewing's 3, to Keem Lodgeman's 9. There's only one stat where Patrick Ewing is better than Keem Lodgeman. It was Rookie of the Year. I don't know where you're getting your base off of Patrick Ewing is better than Keem Lodgeman. If you look at the stats, man, they're just so asw and it's leveled way in Hakeem's favorite.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Hey, that's fine, but honestly, I'm going to take the guy, if you say, who can I start a team with? As far as centers of the last 30 years go, Hakeem's probably like fifth or sixth on that list. Centers, I'm talking Shaq, obviously, right? But then we're talking about guys like listen you can knock the centers from the Bulls all you want they got rings and Luke Longley was a really big part of that Horace Grant was a really big part of that I remember games in there where Luke Longley he put that team on his back so we talked about all the great moments Jordan had and all the shots that Kerr hit Luke Longley, he put that team on his back. So we talked about all the great moments Jordan had and all the shots that Kerr hit. Luke Longley put that team on his back. That guy needs a little respect. That's all I'm saying. All right,
Starting point is 00:20:37 making it up. Let's see, trolling at 616, 713, 212, 5790. Grace, go ahead, Grace. Hi. Yes, I've been an Ximilazu fan for many, many years. And he's the one that got me to watch basketball. He showed me how to do the dream state and I know that watching his game he took you into school. And I don't know where you're from but you can come to Houston and talk about Akim Olajuwa and what I've been talking about. I'm from Dallas. Oh, figures. Alright, then what's wrong with being from Dallas? I won't say anything about that.
Starting point is 00:21:28 The best thing that came out of Dallas was IT. Alright, nice talking with you. 713-212-5790. And the reality of all of this is this. That nobody actually listens to anything you say. And like, you know, people talk about taking phone calls on radio shows, and they say, oh, you should take more phone calls. But we don't like when you troll. We don't like any of this.
Starting point is 00:21:51 The reality is the only thing that really gets people calling radio shows is ridiculously outrageous opinions. So maybe when the people sit around and say, I hate Skip Bayless and all these guys who are on TV just making stuff up, that's all you react to. When you actually try to have a normal conversation about sports nobody seems interested. What is it about people that get so worked up about this stuff? All right let's see here as we troll at 617. Rip what's up?
Starting point is 00:22:19 Man, you double talking on the radio man. You saying that Steve Kerr was better than Jordan because he got more championships but patrick ewan don't have more championships than elijah one he does in college he does he has more no i'm not he had more college championships come on man get off the gas you're on the gas right now no i'm not on the gas patrick ewan was better than elijah one how are you gonna say that about better than how you gonna say that dude is better than the live if i can start a team, let me ask you...
Starting point is 00:22:46 Grand championships, man. NBA championships. We're not talking about college here. We're talking about NBA championships. Because if you were talking about college championships, Jordan and Curve wouldn't have came up in the conversation. Alright, well let me ask you a question, okay? Go ahead. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Let's look at the last 30 years of centers in the NBA, or at least let's not even look at the last decade. Let's look from like 85 to maybe 2000, right? And you can start a team with a center. Like that's your choice. And you've got Olajuwon and you've got Ewing and you've got Luke Longley and you've got guys like that.
Starting point is 00:23:19 To me, I'm of the belief that Hakeem Olajuwon would probably be the fourth or fifth guy I'd start with if i could do slap yourself you know better than that man you in you in houston and how dare you say that about but you can commodity i'm not allowed to have an opinion
Starting point is 00:23:37 listen a lot of one of the better candidate anybody in your dream i don't know man i i'm from i'm from the dream i'm from the news that was, I'm from Dallas. We've had our fair share of good centers man. You know what, I kind of agree with one of those earlier callers saying that you're just trying to get some calls because I honestly believe that's what you're doing man. Why do you think that? Why do you think that? Why I just can't give an opinion? Oh he hung up. I like that he said it was such a bold statement to say that I'm just trying to get calls.
Starting point is 00:24:09 You don't say. I never thought of it that way. What is it about people that only respond to the most ridiculous things you say? I didn't even know we had this many phone lines. I was unaware of that. Throughout the whole show you have actual conversation about stuff. Nobody seems to really engage. Then you come in and you troll and you know make up an opinion and whatnot. Like literally something
Starting point is 00:24:35 that's just stupid. And all of a sudden all these people react. It's baffling is what it is. Let's see here, Sergio, go ahead. Josh, I have a question for you. Yes, sir. Who would you rather have on the bull skin, Luke Longley or Elijah One? Luke Longley, he won. He won that for that team.
Starting point is 00:24:58 That's fine. Get crazy. Get crazy, he's trying to get more calls in. That's all. All right, thanks. You know what's amazing to me, Jim, is these guys call up and have the audacity to tell me that I'm just trying to get calls. But they called.
Starting point is 00:25:09 They have the audacity to call this radio show at 621 on a Monday and tell me that I'm just trying to get calls. That's amazing. Let's see here, Melton, go ahead. Yeah, you keep mentioning Shaq versus Akeem, but when we played Orlando, Akeem took Shaq to school and Akeem was an older guy. Now I would take Akeem and his prime versus Shaq and his prime any day of the week.
Starting point is 00:25:41 Guy, you are so wrong. All right, well that's fine. You can disagree. Okay, well it's no problem, but I just don't Guy, you are so wrong. All right, well that's fine. You can disagree. Okay, well it's no problem, but I just don't see how you're coming up with what you're coming with. I mean, think about Akeem Elijah wanting his Prim, and Shaq and his Prim. I'll take Akeem any day of the week. All right, that's fine, man. That's absolutely okay.
Starting point is 00:26:00 And we've been doing this for about 20 minutes and it just doesn't seem Jim that That anybody's actually listening. I'm sorry. I wasn't listening either. All right, who should I take? Is there anybody that's a that's a live one there? That's what I'm trying to think I might get have one I'll let you know. All right. Thanks. Let me know seven one three two one two five seven ninety I don't know if it's just sports talk radio or if it's news radio or if it's just the world where We get caught up in reading headlines on something and that's all that matters the headline the headline the headline but it's pretty amazing when I didn't even know people called this radio station everybody says hey Josh give us
Starting point is 00:26:39 some good sports talk let's talk about a bunch of different things break down the game a little bit you talk about a bunch of different things. You break down the game a little bit, you talk about a bunch of stuff, right? That's cool, right? You talk about this stuff. Nobody really seems all that interested. Then you make stuff up that's clearly stupid, by the way. And nobody listens. You're literally like, this is me telling you, I just made that up. 100% made that up. One hundred percent made it up.
Starting point is 00:27:09 I don't believe anything I've just said. Yet, for whatever reason, people are just, maybe people just want to get angry. Maybe that's it. That's the whole point of this exercise. People tell you all the stuff they want, they don't react to it, then they react to this. Like literally, the phones will not stop ringing. And this is a guy on the radio, 623, on a Monday telling you that everything you've heard, and I told you this while it was happening, was made up. I do not
Starting point is 00:27:38 believe it. None of it. And I'm not just telling you this after the fact I'm telling you this during the fact while it's happening What does that say about people? What do you think okay, let's go to one here all right Tyrone what oh? Whoa, so anybody listening to that one on the stream. Oh, so now I found what makes you passionate yes Now I found what makes you passionate you Yes Now I found what makes you passionate. You're not passionate about your own damn teams But if I sit there and make up an opinion about Hakeem Olajuwon a guy tells me that my mother SSEs in H. Just like out of the exorcist just like like amazing to me Don't ever try to tell me that you're passionate about stuff here
Starting point is 00:28:23 The only thing you're passionate about is about Hakeem Olajuwon and whether or not Luke Longley is better than Hakeem Olajuwon. Be better. Nobody... I didn't even think this radio station had listeners or callers. Now I got five... We only have five lines. They've been lit up for the last 25 minutes with a guy that's been telling
Starting point is 00:28:45 you for 25 minutes that I'm giving you fake opinions and you still don't realize it. All right 713-212-5790. Ryan what's up? Hey man, I called, I lied and said that I was really mad at you. I just wanted to give you props, because you're killing the line right now. And it's cracking me up. This is absolutely hilarious. I'm a big team fan, and I see what you're doing. Show all that. Alright Dyn, don't blow my cover. I appreciate you that I love you. Just don't blow my cover. Seven one I'm baffled that there are still how is this Jim Jim talking how is this possible? I don't know but here's the problem people that are enjoying it keep filling up the phone lines and I appreciate that maybe we'll just take them all now and maybe we'll talk to them in the next segment.
Starting point is 00:29:45 I don't know. I'm baffled that there are still five phone lines ringing. I can't answer it fast enough. It's amazing. You would think that we were giving away sexual favors. I know. All right, we're giving away the virginity of a 19-year-old girl.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Who wants it? Who wants it? Who wants it? Like, it's amazing. This is my point about how people don't listen. And people tell you what they, like I want to hear blank, blank, blank, and you do it, there's no interest all day long. Talking sports, whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:14 You give, like this is the reason that these shows like First Take and whatever the show with Shannon Sharp and Skip Bayless is, you know where basically Shannon Sharp just yelled, hey Skill, Skill, Skill, the whole show. Like that's all thatis is. You know where basically Shannon Sharp just yells, hey skill, skill, skill, the whole show. Like that's all that show is. He says something stupid Shannon Sharp goes, skill, skill, skill, skill. That's the whole show and people watch this stuff. So people tell you they don't like it, but it's all they watch. And they're pulling numbers. And they all pull numbers. We're in here telling you that I'm lying to you and I've done it for 26 straight minutes and look at these lines and they won't stop calling I told
Starting point is 00:30:50 you it'd work I did I had better I had more faith in people this my heavens I'm like making up opinions I'm literally for the last! I'm literally For the last 25 I'm not even telling you oh, I'm trolling. I'm telling you flat out. I'm making this up I'm making the opinions up Not the whole show, but in the last 25 minutes that I told you before it happened that I would I'm blown away. I'm baffled by this. Oh, I know we've gone long here.
Starting point is 00:31:31 That's a 27 minute segment. Where are all these people? I thought they'd be listening to Texan's pregame or something like that. Mercy me. All right. Seven one three two one two five seven 90. Seven one three two one two five seven 90. All right, 713-212-5790. 713-212-5790. All right, let's see here. Hi, Justin. What's up, buddy? Hey, dude. Man, I've been crying laughing over here. I caught
Starting point is 00:31:58 maybe the last 10 minutes, and the fact that any reputable sports guy that's employed in a major market would think Luke Longley is better than Akeem Elijah is laughable. It's I didn't even need to hear the first 15 16 minutes or what-have-you But a team arguably had one of the greatest seasons of all time most black or a defensive player of the year Yeah, I mean I know what you were trying to do. Made up some calls, but yeah, I'll hang up and listen, but it was obvious what you were trying to do. Yes, thank you.
Starting point is 00:32:34 It was obvious because I told you what I was trying to do. Oh, we've gone way long. Let's talk to these people after the break, okay? Just get them on hold. We'll talk to them. I think people, I mean, I don't know how to tell you that it's a joke more than just saying it's a, it was a joke. Mind-blowing. Jim, you were right. You were right. I'm pulling that. You were right. All right, we'll talk to some people who are on hold. Again, I was trolling and nobody listens to what you say. It's baffling. Stay there.
