Where's the nearest door? Not far come on. Let's hurry then to my count one two one two one two visit Specsavers.ca for details That's right, Jim. We're in the Savage Garden now. I hear yeah, we're in the sav- are you in the Savage Garden? Sure, I'm not sure I like the name Savage Garden, but... What's wrong with that? I think it's great. I mean, I was trying to think of a bunch of other things, right? Because Savage, you can go macho man angle with it, which everybody is doing, or we can keep it real and say, hey, we're going into the Savage Garden. Oh, keeping it real. We're keeping
Starting point is 00:05:19 it real. Savage Garden. Yeah, we are. We're going in, we're keeping it real, and we're going to the Savage Garden. I don't understand why you have such an issue with Savage Garden It's not very creative He's basically took a band that has the guy's last name in it and use that and called it the Savage Garden So is so is macho man Tom Savage creative. That's what all these other people are saying I don't think that's creative either, but I like the macho man I don't understand why you continue to bang on my ideas Not all of them.
Starting point is 00:05:45 But enough of them. Somebody actually emailed and said, you know, Jim never compliments you when you're right about things. Oh, did they? Yeah. I said the Texans were going to beat the Jaguars. What's their name? This guy emailed me. Let me find you his name. Hold on. Let me find his name. He legitimately emailed this. He said his name is Logan. And it says, Jim ripped you Monday of last week for being wrong, but isn't saying anything this week. I remember, love the show, keep it up. That was from Logan. Good job, you got it right.
Starting point is 00:06:10 They were gonna beat the Jaguars. Hey, you know what, can you give me credit when I'm right? Oh yeah, you're right. You know, most people thought they were going to lose to the Colts, I said they were gonna lose to the Colts. Sorry, I was wrong, okay? But see, you never compliment me when I'm right about anything.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Good job, Josh. Thank you, that's all you need to do. That's it? I compliment you when I'm right about anything. Good job, Josh. Thank you. That's all you need to do. That's it? I compliment you when you're right about something. You do? Yeah, I do. Like what? I give you credit. I don't know. You haven't done anything right lately,
Starting point is 00:06:32 so I don't compliment you. Okay. Because we can be honest, right? One day, it was a Friday maybe, and we just had a lousy show. Now, maybe people can't hear that it's a lousy show, but we can tell when the infrastructure of the show is lousy. Yeah, I remember that. It got to a point where we both threw our headphones at one point.
Starting point is 00:06:49 You went total Mark Vandermeer and just threw projectiles is what you did. Yes, and they're still a little iffy. You got very angry about that. Yeah, my headphones are still crackling in my ear. But you know what I said? I said, Jim, you know what? Be cool. We're fine.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Yeah, you did. I thought I probably said something far worse, but if that's what you remember, then okay then. That's not what I remember. I'm glad you remember. I was just giving you the benefit for public consumption. Listen, this is the Savage Garden, and we are immersed in the Savage Garden right now. So you might as well enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Is that what it takes for you to get excited about this team? Well, yes. Dumb nicknames? Because we were in the trash can with Trash-Wyler, right? Yeah. But now, we're in the Savage Garden. I think I like ass water better than Savage Garden No, this is the Savage Garden And I think a lot of people if you want to tweet at Josh in this radio feel free if you agree Then they're gonna like that. I think they are I think they say you know what we're in the Savage Garden right now
Starting point is 00:07:39 You think that's what's gonna take this show up to number 20. I think so. I think so You know what? I think I may do I think I may bring a sign to the game. Really? They'll probably confiscate the sign, but I'm gonna bring that sign in and it's gonna say, you are now in the Savage Garden, bitches. This is where bangles come to die. In the Savage Garden. So just keep that in mind. That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna show up at the game with a big sign. Savage garden bitches. And then hopefully whenever the team runs out, I, you know, the Texan should do is they should have Savage garden play at halftime. Oh, you think so? I think they should. What are they doing now? I don't know. I don't know what they have planned for Saturday, but I think at halftime they
Starting point is 00:08:16 should bring out Savage garden. They could sing. I want you. They could sing. I knew I loved you before I met you. And what was that other damn Savage garden song? Their, their third hit. Uh, what was that song called truly madly truly madly deeply right they could play those Let me play one of those really quick because I know you're loving the Savage Garden right now. Yeah, I can tell you're loving it I know that you're a rocker, but you know what Jim you're gonna listen to Savage Garden, right? We're gonna enjoy it because we are in this big moment We are in the Savage Garden and I want you to respect that, and I want you to understand the significance of what is happening here, Jim.
Starting point is 00:08:47 We're in the Savage Garden. Let me crank that up for you really quick. Here we go. Yeah, we're in the Savage Garden, Jim. Do we have a Rockets game or something tonight? No. No? I'm gonna play, you're gonna be in the Savage Garden
Starting point is 00:09:00 all damn day, Jim. All day long, you're in the Savage Garden. I might throw my headset again. Yeah, you know what, if you wanna do that, I'm not gonna buy you another pair day Jim. All day long you're in the Savage Garden. I might throw my headset again. You know what if you want to do that I'm not going to buy you another pair Jim. You've never bought me this one. I know but I contemplated buying you a pair of nice headphones after you threw those but I'm not going to sit there and buy new headphones for someone who doesn't respect them. That's fair. Are you in the Savage Garden? 713-212-5790. 713-212-5790 if you want in. Also check out joshannashow.com. We actually have the music video from those jemokes that sang the Tom Savage song. Uh huh, we do.
Starting point is 00:09:35 So that video is on our page joshannashow.com. Check that out. Alright, Lupe, what's going on buddy? Oh Josh, I'm enjoying your show and that I mean every day. Thank you. I'm 77 years old and I'm a Hispanic old man. All right, thanks I appreciate it. All I wanted to tell you that Tom Savage, he's got the first name is Tom and he's gonna be a savage. That's what I'm talking about Lupe, I like the way you think buddy, a savage. That's what I'm talking about Lupe I like the way you think buddy thank you that's our 77 year old Hispanic friend that's
Starting point is 00:10:08 actually Miguel's uncle you know what Miguel may have had something to do with this. Do you think so? Maybe he did see there's got to be something like Osweiler obviously sucks but he was on like a crash course for a special kind of suck in that game yesterday so maybe Miguel was up to something. Maybe Miguel was up to his hijinks. Maybe he was. Who knows? All right, 713-212-5790. Let's go to Mike. What's going on, buddy? Good, Mudge. Good, Mudge. Hope y'all are having a wonderful afternoon, gentlemen. You too. My perspective,
Starting point is 00:10:44 you know, nobody, nobody really knowing what goes on with O'Brien except for him and the team. I'm wondering if it's one of those things, Osweiler is really good in practice, really good in workouts, really good at workouts. It makes all of the throws. But then when it's game time, when it's show time,
Starting point is 00:11:03 when the pressure's on, he's just one of those people that can't get it done because I don't think O'Brien's done a bad job. I mean, greatest coach ever, of course not, but I don't mind the job that he's been doing, but I agree with you. And that was my question. Why is he sitting on this guy, number one, when Osweiler's so bad? And if this guy is this good, what's been the hold up? This move should have been made weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:11:30 I get where you're coming from. I think this move should have been made weeks ago. And maybe it wasn't made a couple of weeks ago because Tom Savage had this injury, but they weren't going to play Tom Savage in Indianapolis for his first game, right? They weren't going to do that. And let's, again, I don't want to make it sound like I'm some honk here that's telling you that Tom Savage is the end-all be-all and that he's the next Tom Brady. I'm not saying that. What I am saying is he is better than Brock Osweiler already. But what did they see in practice?
Starting point is 00:11:58 Why did Osweiler continue to play this year? Let's keep this in mind. If we want to keep it in sort of a reality check, we are still talking about a guy that rallied to beat Jacksonville. Jacksonville is terrible. They're now 2-12 and they fired a coach. So I think that's important to note. But that said, he looked better, looked more comfortable, looked confident, threw the ball well. I mean the guy gets in there and just goes. Now, how much of that is because they didn't have any film on him and they didn't know what to expect from him? They had a game plan for Osweiler and that was clearly to go out there and stop the run,
Starting point is 00:12:30 which they did a pretty good job of. The question becomes what happens now whenever Cincinnati has a week and now you've got two weeks to prepare if you so choose to if you're Tennessee. See that's where it kind of comes into play. So we'll see how that plays out. One thing that impressed me it kind of comes into play. So, you know, we'll see how that plays out. One thing that impressed me is the body language of his teammates seemed to be better than they had been.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Oh, they seem to be rejuvenated. They did. And I think that's completely fair. I think the building was rejuvenated. You heard the audio, you have the audio, right, of what it sounded like whenever Osweiler got benched? That was a huge moment because that, and I even commented to Jelly, and I know that when you're on offense, people aren't going to make noise, but the building was completely silent when the Texans had the ball. And I get it, you're going to be quiet, but it's incredible. You can hear guys burping and farting in the stands.
Starting point is 00:13:16 It was so quiet. But then this happens whenever Osweiler is benched. Tom Savage is coming into the game. And the fans here in Houston go nuts. Wow. That is a statement right there. Did not get the feeling that Bill O'Brien was that frustrated with Brock Osweiler, but I think that second interception inexcusable and Bill O'Brien, if nothing else, wants to make a statement.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Now, was it fair to say that that was gutsy? At that point, no. Me neither. I think that that's the owner just says a bunch of wacky stuff that nobody really should pay attention to. But to say it was gutsy, it wasn't gutsy. You guys just throwing a second pick, you're down at the point, what was it, 6-0 or 13-0?
Starting point is 00:14:09 13-0. It was 13-0 whenever they pulled him. So, and you're losing to the Jaguars who are a 2-win team with your season on the line, that's not Gutsy. Gutsy would have been saying, I don't care that this guy makes $72 million and that we owe him $37 million at least. Gutsy would have been, I'm taking his ass out when he's struggling against Jacksonville the first time. Or when he's struggling in another game. This wasn't Gutsy, this was the obvious thing.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I give coaches credit when they do something that isn't obvious, this is pretty obvious that this should have happened. I mean is it Gutsy that he didn't wait until after the half, after the half, like where Savage came out and started the second half? No, because if they would have continued with Osweiler, they may have been down 20 to nothing at some point. So I don't consider it gutsy. I don't consider it some sort of bold move. You had a lousy quarterback, and most people have been saying at least give Savage a shot for the last three or four games. I know he had the injury, the staph infection or whatever
Starting point is 00:14:59 it was in his elbow, fine. But people have been saying this. I'm not a football expert. I play a little Madden, right? So you play a little Madden. We're not football experts and most people aren't football experts. But you can watch a team and you can read body language. I'm glad you brought that up. Body language always sucked on the offensive side of the ball with Osweiler out there. You could tell guys like Hopkins had very little belief in the guy. There was very little pop, very little pep about this team. They were just three yards in a cloud of dust. Here we go. Three more yards in a cloud of dust. Turn the ball over, punt it. They were boring. That team had a new shot of life. The crowd had a new shot of life
Starting point is 00:15:35 and good for them. We've been watching mediocre, actually not even mediocre. We've been watching awful offensive football for 14 games. Now there's two more games to go, season's on the line, let's see what Tom Savage is made of. I'm down with that, I'm fine with that, I like it. It really is a credit to this defense that they're still in it after that quarterback play all season. Yeah, it is, and they deserve a lot of credit. And what you're going to see is something similar to what you see in Minnesota, you see in Denver, and Minnesota was not good
Starting point is 00:16:02 defensively yesterday against the Colts, but for most of the season they carry you. Then you end up seeing some dissension between two sides of the ball, and you're starting to see that now in Denver where they can't score a damn point to help them out in their defense. It's holding Tom Brady pretty much in check yesterday, and they couldn't generate any offense and teams tend to kind of turn on each other when things like that happen. So this had to happen because
Starting point is 00:16:25 I think, I don't think this team has been vocal publicly saying, hey, we've turned on each other. But I do believe that inside that you probably have guys on the defensive side of the ball saying, dude, we're keeping you in games, but you got us on the field way too long at times. You can't score. So we're forced to give up less than 17 points a game for us to win. And yes, like their defense I think now for the year I think is giving up probably about 17, 18 points a game, which isn't great. It's somewhere kind of in the middle of the pack. But in today's NFL, you know, teams are scoring 25, 30 points almost at will.
Starting point is 00:16:57 So to keep a team to 17 to 18 points in today's NFL is actually very good. When you can't score more than 17 points, I mean they talked about it yesterday, the Texans I think are now minus 44 in point differential. It's a miracle that they're eight and six. Wow. And it's because this offense is dreadful. Savage time needed to happen. More of the Josh Hiddleston Show after this.
