Well, it seems the folks at Crossing Broad's Crossing Broads.
That's the Sharon Moore Show.
Crossing Broad in Philadelphia are excited today because John Marks took a swipe at Joe Gillio.
These are both people I know.
I don't know that I ever met John Marks in person now that I think about it, but I've talked
with him and I've messaged with him.
He was always very nice to me, and I know that Sludge had a good relationship with him and
always told me that he was a good dude.
So, look, I have nothing against the guy, and I think he does a solid job.
so I'm not going to, I mean, I have nothing bad to say about the guy, right?
So he knows he's got an uphill climb at 97-5.
He knows that it's a tough put.
I know that they made a mistake by not calling me while I was out of work.
I'll hold to that.
Like, you can judge me and say whatever you want about me, but I think they fucked up,
and I still harbor a grudge and some resentment towards a guy that I've known for a long time
who didn't call me back when he said he would call me back.
Look, I never expected him to hire me, but to get ghosted was pretty much fucking
bullshit, and I'll tell him it was pretty much fucking bullshit.
and I'm quite content with what I have and what I'm doing, but anyway, I think it was bullshit.
But anyway, Crossing Broad has a story today about John Marks taking a swipe at Joe Gillio, right?
And they get their radio wars opportunity here, even though radio wars is totally dead there.
But there is no war because WIP, no matter how much we ridicule them or make fun of their topic choice or how it's fake rage bait radio, there is nothing that Fanatic is doing.
It doesn't mean that they're better or worse, whatever.
I think John does a very good job.
And I was actually listening to a show.
I think it was during the baseball playoffs I was listening because he and I were texting.
So I listened because I wanted to see how it sounded.
Told him it sounded good.
I think he was doing a broadcast from like a rally house or some shit.
Like, hey, it's John Marks, live in front of the Schwarber jerseys.
But anyway, let me play a couple commercials and let's get into this.
I'll play the audio that's now making the rounds of Joe Gillio looking like a pud.
I guess about Jalen Hertz.
I haven't listened to the audio, so I don't know.
I like to be surprised and listen to it with all of you.
But let's see.
We will do that after these words.
All right.
Here we go.
So this is Joe Gillio.
This is the audio that Marx responded to.
So this is the one that he quote tweeted.
Let's see here.
So this is the title of this is Joe Jillio says,
should be Jalen Hertz's last chance to keep his starting job. And here's the audio.
If I'm the Eagles, I would start Jalen Hertz on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
He's the quarterback on Sunday. You used the word yesterday earned. I do think he's earned the right
to start the game on Sunday. He's been the quarterback here for years. They've won a lot.
He had a horrific game. He's off a bad month. But yeah, he gets to start the game on Sunday.
It's also, before I finish this, it is important to note that as bad as he has been and as bad as
the offense has been, a couple of drop balls away from winning that game, and this isn't a topic.
So again, the guy who's bitched the most in the media about not getting the ball, the guy that
complains more than anybody, the guy that seems totally happy as long as he's getting
eight catches for 100 yards and two tuds and doesn't really seem to give a shit if they
win or lose.
That guy drops a couple of huge passes.
He doesn't make catches, you know, and we're down by two scores with three minutes touchdown,
last drive.
They're leaving you open to make catches drive.
He drops a couple of huge balls and they lose.
they probably win that game.
They'll probably, they win that game if he catches those.
But of course, Jalen Hertz is the object of all the ridicule because he is the quarterback.
But that's the end of where I go with earn, deserve, and all those kind of words.
As this season progresses, it is on the table for me that I would pull the plug.
If he keeps playing the way he has the last month, and let's be clear, over the last five games,
this is a bottom five quarterback in the NFL.
That's the way he's playing compared to all the other quarterbacks.
So I enjoy the idea that for five games, the guy has struck.
struggled. And because of that, we forget that the guy went to the Super Bowl and won it last year. And we forget that the guy went to another Super Bowl that he should have won, if not for a phantom bullshit call. But yes, after five shitty games with a shitty offensive coordinator, an offensive line play that stinks. Yes, let's look at Jalen Hertz and say it's time to pull the plug because Tanner McKee is waiting in the wings and we got to see him sling it.
So if he doesn't pick it up and the offense continues to struggle and he looks like he did on Monday, I have to
pull the plug, and I have to do it for a few reasons. Number one, I owe it to the other 52
guys. No, you don't. That's another bullshit take. You owe it to the other 52 guys. Most of those
guys on the squad have been to a Super Bowl. They've won a Super Bowl. I guarantee you that
most of those guys are riding with the quarterback. They like the guy. Look, there are guys
reportedly that don't like him. That's fine. That's going to happen everywhere you go.
There are probably dudes that are pissed off because they're not getting theirs right now. The
team is struggling. There's a lot of factors. But this argument that you owe it to the other 52 guys,
Like, there are a lot of dudes not doing their job.
AJ Brown just dropped two touchdowns.
Before he had a couple of good games and garbage time in the last couple of weeks,
AJ Brown was doing shit.
Do you bench AJ Brown?
We throw him on the bench and say, well, we owe it to the other guys to play whatever
other slap dick receivers in there.
Let's sit AJ Brown.
Well, we owe it to the 52 guys because we must sit down our guy who went to the Super Bowl last
year, a guy who's been to two Super Bowls, a guy who we dismissed this earlier in the audio.
But, you know, I know he's done a lot of winning for a lot of years.
Yeah, he has.
I believe he is that, and it might have dropped a little bit because they've sucked the last month.
And look, their offense stinks.
Do you think Tanner McKee comes in and makes them an exponentially better offense?
The offense fucking sucks, bro.
Like, look, and I get the way they operate at WIP because I watched it.
Look, I'll get into more of that in a second.
But let's see.
We'll continue.
They're still playing their asses off, especially that defense.
I can't let the season just go down the drain because of one player.
And I would say that about any position.
So I owe it to the other guys.
What about Saquan Barclay? He sucks.
Sequin Barclay's going to have like a third of the productivity that he had a year ago.
Do you just say, hey, fuck Sequin Barclay, too?
Back to 2018, the Eagles were struggling coming off a Super Bowl victory.
They were five and six.
Now, they spun it to us that Carson Wentz had a stress fracture in his back and they were sitting him down.
Whatever.
You could believe what you want to believe.
They put Nick Foles back in and they went on a run.
And that's in my head that, like, would better quarterback play, this team could be
way better right now than they are.
And I know
there's a lot of stuff. I'm sure you're going to bring up a lot
of this. Like the, what happens
then, right? Like the ramifications to benching
jail and her. I can't believe I'm going to have a
give a legitimate
answer to something that I find preposterous, but I
will. This year is
not going to be a Super Bowl win no matter who you play
at quarterback. So do you bench your starting
quarterback and basically tell him to go fuck
himself? Because
you think that Tanner McKee
gives you a better shot to what win a play?
off game. The team isn't good. Yeah, they've lost it, what, three games in a row. It ain't all
because of the quarterback, bro. They've got other issues, coaching issues, line issues, wide receivers
dropping balls issues. There are a ton of issues. Again, I'm not a big Jalen Hertz guy. I don't
think he's all that good. Real talk? I don't. And most people don't. But at the end of the day,
what matters? The guy wins a shit ton of games. Isn't that the point of the game? Would you rather a guy
that goes out there and just hits everybody on a dime and throws for 400, but you lose?
Like, oh, but it look good doing it.
Like, you write it till it bucks you, bro, and that's what's happening.
But the idea that, like, Jalen Hertz is just, you know, dog shit and that would solve everything.
And to the point that he's papooing there, the point is, like, what do you do then?
Well, what do you do?
What happens when you tell Jalen Hertz, the guy that just took you to the Super Bowl,
12 games later, you tell him to go pound sand?
What the fuck happens there?
And granted, give the guy credit, right?
Because I don't know that a human on the planet has taken more shit that's just one more.
That guy does not exist.
Does not exist, right?
That a human that has taken more shit for being a guy that just wins.
Not a T-Boh, not any of these other Jumokes that had a moment, okay?
There is not a human in sports.
Find them.
They don't exist.
That takes more shit and all they do is win.
Like LeBron is like the biggest name out of there.
LeBron does a lot of shit and takes a lot of shit.
and takes a lot of shit.
But like no one views LeBron as a bad basketball player.
No one discusses whether or not LeBron is a bad player or a good player.
They'll debate if he's better than Jordan or whatever because that's a low-hanging fruit
bullshit or if, oh, would you take him or Kobe?
Does he have the mama mentality?
All that bullshit.
But no one questions whether or not he is good at his job.
On a day-in, day-out basis, Jalen Hertz's question.
And it's been happening that way since college.
Since he got bench, Tua comes in.
But then they needed him to bail them out in the SEC championship.
game or whatever it was and he did that.
This guy, like I hate to say because it sounds trite and ridiculous, but all the guy does
is fucking win.
He's struggling right now.
Shit happens, but they find a way.
Look, if I were starting a football team today and I had my pick of any quarterback that's
out there, where would Jalen Hertz fall on that?
Probably pretty low.
Probably mid-pack type of guy, if we're being fair, right?
But in this situation with this team, he's won like 65% of his fucking.
fucking games and he's been to two Super Bowls
and all you can do for the guys say
well if he doesn't pick this up we owe it to
the other 52 guys which is a complete
bullshit thing to say and I understand
they're huge uh they're huge
but I just want to bring this at table
because for me this is the only
thing that matters
if the Eagles
don't know he's their quarterback
next year then I don't think the
ramifications are as strong as some might
and my point on that is if they have decided
right now we have to go look
for another quarterback, then I don't care about the other ramifications.
I'm just focusing on this.
And I don't think that's an unfair point.
But still, I don't know.
Now, if they believe he's their quarterback for the next five years, no matter what, then
all right, then it's way harder to bench him.
But where I sit, I think the Eagles are doubting his future.
And here's what I look at from a big picture.
This guy has taken you to two Super Bowls and he's won one.
He should have won two.
He's won 60-some-odd percent of his games, 20th, 25th.
first best all time.
Like, I don't think he's that great, but you have to, and I'm having a real discussion
and something that's a total bullshit thing breaking down this piece of audio of Joe Jillia.
And that's not even the topic.
I'm not, I'm going to get back into a Jalen Hertz topic.
It's a bigger picture, sports media, bullshit, hot take topic, radio thing.
But, no, I'm not even going to get into it.
I'm not going to get into the Jalen Hertz thing again.
Jesus, it's stupid.
It's a stupid, pointless thing to get into is getting into Jalen Hertz.
But, like, you don't bench the guy.
Like, you will never see a scenario.
And I told you this yesterday.
It is a perfect storm thing.
It is perfect storm that it's in Philadelphia.
That's the biggest part of the storm that matters.
The part that is most important in all of this is that this is happening in Philadelphia.
If this were in any other city, it would not be a point.
Like, let's look at Eli Manning.
Eli Manning, decidedly, not an all-time great football player.
It's going to go to the Hall of Fame.
I don't believe Eli Manning is an all-time great.
Very good, and he had some great moments.
He ain't his brother.
His brother is an exponentially better quarterback than Eli Manning.
But Eli Manning won two Super Bowls.
Arguably two of the flukiest Super Bowls you're ever going to see because they came down to wacky plays that he really didn't have a ton to do with.
But he won two Super Bowls, and because of that, the guy is a god in New York.
They idolized the guy in New York.
And that's a franchise and a city and a fan base that's won a ton of titles anyway.
Like they are one of the winninger, or more winninger, geez, one of the winning-ness type.
of franchises historically, and they've won
Super Bowls in the past. They're a heritage
franchise. They've won a lot.
And they adore Eli
Manning.
Only in Philadelphia
could a fan base that sits around and waits
50 years to win a Super Bowl and says, all we
want to do is win one. We just want that parade.
The reason why Wing Bowl existed is because we
never got that parade, all that bullshit.
Only in Philadelphia
would that guy be doing what he's
doing? And we're talking about
Tanner fucking McKee.
Only in Philadelphia.
That would not happen anywhere else.
Now, if that quarterback hadn't won as much, like who was the guy, like in Houston back
in the early 90s when Warren Moon was struggling?
Warren Moon struggling.
We need Cody Carlson or whatever the fuck his name was, right?
Like, you'd hear about that a lot.
Warren Moon didn't win a Super Bowl for the Oilers.
This guy's won a Super Bowl, been to another one that he should have won.
So only in Philadelphia would that be a thing?
Only in Philadelphia, are we sitting there today talking about the quarterback being so bad that he needs to be benched because you don't think he's the quarterback for the future?
That's only a Philly thing.
Now, part of that is I think the fan base there has been programmed by the people that run these radio stations that are on the air and are in the media because they have found.
And look, I don't mean this to be insulting to my Philly people.
I love you very much.
Here's the reality about Philadelphia people.
They are easily triggered and easily enraged.
And the objective of those radio shows is to get you triggered and enraged so you will call to carry the programming.
It.
That is it.
Hold on.
Let me do another one.
I got to get to the second part.
Part two.
We got to get to part two of this.
Okay.
So, because I try to keep these to about 15 minutes or so.
So let me get to part two of this.
So there's the thought on Jalen Hertz.
The biggest takeaway from this, and this is about, you know, John Marks and all the shit.
The biggest takeaway from this
is that
John Marks goes after
Joe Jillio and he delivers some shots at him.
Let's read you the shot.
We'll do that.
So the shot that he delivered to Joe Jillio,
we will do that in our next one coming up.
