Starting point is 00:00:35 Ah! Woo! Okay. All right. When a core's life is cold enough, the mountains on the can turn blue. So the next time you want a cold lager, cold filter, cold package, Coors Light, just wait until those glorious mountains on the can turn blue. It's easy to say that fast when you're freezing cold.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Well, this was a weekend of Philadelphia sports icon violence. All started with the Jason Kelsey video, which I'm sure many more of you have seen than know the story about Joel Embiid that I will get into in a little bit. I'm sure some of you know about that because some of you are Philly people. But the Kelsey story is a much bigger one because Kelsey, if you'll believe this, Kelsey is a much bigger national figure than Joel Embiid. So this story became huge on Saturday. But if you don't know it, there's a video of Jason Kelsey. He's walking outside of, I'm guessing he's at Beaver Stadium or in the general vicinity of Beaver Stadium
Starting point is 00:01:38 where he was at the Penn State game this weekend, carrying around his garage beer, who he is a big sponsor of, or they are a big sponsor of, or they are a big sponsor of his, however you would say that. And some guy is filming and yells something along the lines of, hey, what's it like that your brother is an F gay slur because he dates Taylor Swift, which is actually, well, in a way, now hold on, let me rewind here. First of all, people are very comfortable saying very offensive things to people, right?
Starting point is 00:02:13 Celebrities, like we've gotten comfortable with that world because social media has given you this cloak where like you're not going to have to truly encounter any of these people that you talk shit about. So you can go to social media and call people fat, terrible, stupid, awful, and you're never really going to encounter them. The number of people that I get messages from and tweets from when they disagree with me that just call me a fat fuck all the time, like, well, you're never going to have to encounter me. So it's easy to do. Also, I'm not a meathead who's going to fight you if you call me a name. Some would argue that I'm a pussy for that. I would argue that I'm just a level-headed human that doesn't want to see, at least at the time, when I have things that are going well for me, I don't want to lose them because I'm going to get into a fight with some dipshit McDougal at a Philadelphia event or a Houston event or whatever. So I'm not going to fight somebody more than likely unless
Starting point is 00:03:05 like they go at me first, then I'm fine. But I'm not going to put hands on somebody because they call me fat or something. But anyway, so this upsets Kelsey to the point that he grabs the guy's phone. He throws the phone down and goes like, who's the F now? Which is a weird response considering that in 2024, that just using slurs, even in the proper context or in a context that's acceptable, isn't really acceptable. But anyway, that's neither here nor there. Here's how I break down this video. I think that Jason Kelsey, based on his reaction to that, because I'm sure this guy's heard a bunch of shit. I'm sure he's gotten messages from people calling him names, tweets from people calling him names. I'm sure he's gotten a lot
Starting point is 00:03:49 of bad shit, especially now that he's become this super popular figure with this huge podcast and he's in the Taylor Swift world. I'm sure he gets a lot of bad shit from people. But let's also start here with Kelsey. Kelsey makes himself a target because he never says no to anything. Everywhere you turn is Jason Kelsey. You turn on a football game, he's analyzing the football game on ESPN. If he's not analyzing the football game, he's on the other channel doing the Manning cast. If the Manning cast goes to commercial, it's a chunky soup commercial. And then after that, it's a commercial for garage beer. And after that, it's a State Farm commercial. The guy is everywhere. He is Rocky at the beginning of Rocky III.
Starting point is 00:04:28 And I think a large portion of the populace is Paulie. And we all just want to walk around and find the pinball machine and throw our bottle of whiskey into the fucking pinball machine because we're sick of fucking seeing him. I think that's very possible. So what he's dealing with here is overexposure and he's dealing with a society of people who have no qualms with going to social media and saying bad shit about people. And it can make you go viral. It can make you famous. I mean, look at what we saw last week with those guys at the Yankee game. What happened with the guys at the Yankee game? The guys at the Yankee game tried to rip the ball away from Mookie Betts and they become darlings in the media for a day. So you can become famous very quickly by doing dumb shit. Hawk to a girl. I mean,
Starting point is 00:05:10 that's how this world works. That's what happens. So anyway, you look at Kelsey. I think Kelsey, just the look on his face looked before the guy says the F slur that really sets him off, when you look at him, he looks like a guy who's got a lot of just rage pent up. Like he's mad about something. Like this wasn't an individual solo thing that set him off. This was the breaking point. This was the tipping point. Like he's finally gotten sick of hearing something, and this guy did it. So he goes over and grabs his phone and throws it down. Like that looked like a guy who had a lot of extra fucking
Starting point is 00:05:51 rage that he was just about to snap. Like right, like, like, like the, at the beginning of falling down, when the guy decides, you know what, I'm going to go to the, uh, you know, this is the day I'm snapping. Basically he's had it built up, built up, his life is miserable, whatever, then boom, he decides to go on a killing spree. Well, that's where I think Jason Kelsey is. Like some, I don't know why he's that way. I don't know if he's just tired of the exposure. I don't know if he's been told a bunch of negative shit by people
Starting point is 00:06:16 and he's finally sick of it. I don't know if he's sick of being in the Taylor Swift orbit. I don't know what it is. But for a guy to snap because some dude calls your brother a slur like obviously there was something else there obviously you've been sitting on that for a while obviously you're like all right let's fucking go now you've set me off that's how I view the Kelsey
Starting point is 00:06:37 thing I also and this is here's my problem with Kelsey Kelsey, I don't view anything he does as authentic. The problem is there are a lot of stupid people out there that view everything people that they like do as authentic because they like the person, so they're like, that's totally authentic. I don't believe that everything Jason Kelsey does is authentic. I believe he's an act. I believe he's a show.
Starting point is 00:07:02 I believe there's a part of him that is just desperate to always be the center of attention, and I don't know if it's a mental disorder. I don't know what the problem is, but the guy just can't sit down and not be doing something. If he goes to a football game, he has to take his fucking shirt off and chug beer. If he's out at a tailgate, he's got to like jump through a table and flash his titties around. That's who he he is he cannot just sit there and not be the center of attention that's who he is so i believe that i like do i believe that he's overly offended that somebody called his brother a slur no i think he knew that there were people with camera phones that were filming him and i think he knew that he was going to be a hero and it was going to make news and it would
Starting point is 00:07:45 help his podcast if he goes over to this guy and grabs his phone and breaks it because there was no one that was going to judge him for it no one was going to say god you know guy in the Taylor Swift orbit who stands up for his brother being called a slur uh is is in the wrong here so he played it safe he grabbed the guy's phone he breaks it let's say he has to buy the guy a new phone who fucking cares guy's rich as shit anyway what's buying an $800 phone he didn't give a fuck so he breaks the dude's phone bam and then it goes viral and 99.9% of the people that are commenting think he's a hero because he defended Taylor Swift's boyfriend and the other people are Philly McDougals that are like you don't fuck with fucking family you start talking about a dude's fucking family it's all we're gonna throw hands we're gonna throw hands if you talk shit about uh my family like that so good for Jason fucking
Starting point is 00:08:34 Kelsey good for him like okay cool that's something I've never understood like the desire for people to fight so quickly like what that word said you all i believe if words lead you to fight somebody you've got a short fuse and you're kind of a mental midget right like i can debate people all day and like i've never like instigated a fight with someone now i'm a shit talker part of that's the job so you're on the radio you talk a little shit but i'm not someone who when someone says something about me it's like hey come meet me outside let's just throw hands let's go do it hey you know where i am let's fucking go like that's i find that to be very low iq approach to things you know like like and but that's the thing is that's philly people no
Starting point is 00:09:20 offense i like you but like it's a low IQ response to want to fight especially over something so tame as someone says something about your family like I've never understood that like I'll defend my family but I'm not going to risk my livelihood and risk getting my ass pummeled by a bunch of meatheads with nothing to lose because you called me stupid or you said my brother's a dope or whatever so I believe I don't believe that whole thing was staged I'm not gonna go you know tin foil hat Alex Jones like it was like I'm not gonna do that but I think that as he's walking and he's I mean there's people right next to him with camera phones so he knows that he's being filmed and he knows there's no way that him reacting to that will be a negative and then it
Starting point is 00:10:02 went viral and now he's a hero and he's in the center of the news. And people love him. I think in that moment, like, I wish I could think of these things in the moment. I've told you this before. The things that have happened to me that have gone viral for me were by accident. Radio Row was by accident. That was a total accident thing. Like, I didn't set that up.
Starting point is 00:10:19 I didn't know that Mike Missanelli was going to be at the, I didn't even know I was talking to Mike Missanelli until, oh, by the way, this is Mike Missanelli. And then it went viral. I wish I could plan that shit out. I'm stupid. I don't, I, I did not plan those out. I gumped my way into those two big viral moments like that. I'm a dummy. Whereas I think that Jason Kelsey saw an opportunity to go out and be a hero and he breaks this dude's phone and raw. Now who's the F word now, bro. Which again is a weird response to stuff. Like like i think it's weird to get offended by being called that or having someone in your family called that like to me it's kind of like i don't know it's it's a weird thing to be offended by like the only thing i get offended by like the things that set me off like where
Starting point is 00:11:02 people would be like oh you got jobs because you're dead and blah, blah, blah. And if it's having, if I'm having a bad day and shit and I want to really go at people, I'll fight with them on that. But like when people call you fat or people call you gay or people say you're ugly, like who the fuck cares? Like I think that Jason Kelsey can handle someone calling his brother a name because he's probably seen his brother called the name a million fucking times. I think he saw an opportunity.
Starting point is 00:11:25 He's like, watch this. And then boom. Now who's that now, bitch? And then walks on. And now he's a conquering hero for defending his family and his brother. All right. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now the other Philly thing that happened uh involving a player is joelle and bead shoved i guess shoved a reporter and not even a reporter it's a columnist a guy named marcus hayes who i was not a fan of when i was in
Starting point is 00:13:38 philadelphia i thought he was mostly lame um i remember he wrote a story about like thaddeus young that i made fun of one night on the show because it was like some sympathy piece for the shitty basketball player Thaddeus Young. I think it was Thad Young. And I made fun of it. Marcus Hayes does nothing for me. I don't think he's particularly good, but I don't think most of the media people in Philly are particularly good
Starting point is 00:13:58 because most of them are dopes. And they just do the Angelo playbook, and they don't do anything new or original and whatever but the people buy it because the people are stupid and that's fine so um this guy wrote a story basically knocking and bead for not playing which is a fair criticism because you're a superstar who never seems to fucking play this coming on the heels of joel and bead explaining to the city of philadelphia that like you know he's busted his ass for the city and he deserves better treatment, blah, blah, blah, fine, whatever. So in this story that Marcus Hayes wrote, he referenced Joel Embiid's brother who died when Embiid was 13, I think.
Starting point is 00:14:36 And his name was Arthur. And Embiid's kid is named after his brother now the only way that a guy like Marcus Hayes would actually know this information is if Joel Embiid offered it up which from what I gather he's offered it up many times that he has a son his son's name is Arthur he's named after his brother so this Marcus Hayes in this story writes something along the lines of well his son who's named after his brother who died tragically when Embiid was young, basically says he tries to instill in his son work ethic. That was the gist of the story, like good work ethic. He wants to leave a legacy for his son to be proud of, to which Marcus Hayes says something along the lines of, well, part of leaving a good legacy and showing work ethic is actually showing up to work. I think the message is fair.
Starting point is 00:15:25 It's fine. Whatever. Well, apparently, Joel Embiid took umbrage with this because you don't talk about a man's family. So he shoves him in the locker room and then says, like, you know, next time it's going to be worse, whatever. And then, like, the media people of the Sixers come over and they allegedly ask the media people to not report on this. Joel Embiid says, fuck it, let them report on it. Now, the original report was from a guy named Keith Pompey who said that Embiid punched Marcus Hayes. The official story is that he didn't, but that also could have been altered by the Sixers.
Starting point is 00:15:59 That's the one thing that people don't understand is how these media people, these PR people control things. The Philadelphia 76ers general manager is Daryl Morey. When I was in Houston, you know about my relationship with Daryl Morey. Daryl Morey constantly tried to control the media and control the message. He would take media people out to lunch. That's how I met him the first time. When I came to town, Daryl Morey took me to lunch. 22, 23-year-old nobody, Josh Ennis, took my ass to lunch. Why? Because Daryl Morey is a to lunch 22 23 year old nobody Josh Ennis took my ass to lunch why because
Starting point is 00:16:27 Darryl Morey is a guy who tries to control the media the Rockets are a team that was Darryl Morey was the GM I had to deal with constant backlash from them and fighting with them because I'd be critical of them so they have rabbit ears but these teams can control it so if you tell me that the media relations people went up to the media people covering the team that night and said, hey, don't cover this or don't write about this, of course they probably did. Why wouldn't they? But the average fan doesn't understand that, and the average fan also is always going to defend the player as long as it's a player who they like. If Nick Sirianni would have done that, most of the people in Philadelphia probably would have been on the side of the media guy because they've all determined that they hate Sirianni and that
Starting point is 00:17:06 Sirianni is a loser and he's bad at clock management and he's bad at play calling. They hate him. So that's what they will say. With Embiid, for whatever reason, these basketball fans still have a hard on for him and they're not going to be on the side of the media guy. And they feign outrage over talking about a dude's family and it crossed the fucking line like that like look i've had worse said shit about my family by people in philadelphia i've had people threatening me on the streets while walking my dog there are people that roll down i would i'd walk my dog and i'd be walking through manny yunk wherever with my dog people would roll down their windows and tell me to fuck you and fuck your dog like so philadelphia people being outraged because a guy makes reference to a
Starting point is 00:17:49 person's family in a story and by the way the only way the media people are going to know these details about your family is if you've already put it out in the media to begin with they didn't go and dig up dirt on your fucking family they reference something you've already referenced so cut the shit and all these people in philly they don't get it so they're like he talks shit on his family and then he's fighting words where i come from you talk about a man's family you're gonna be spitting chiclets because you don't have any fucking clue how anything works you're part of this new era of people who have this great voice on social media, but are uneducated on how anything actually works. Your mouth breathers, your Neanderthals, that's all you fucking got.
Starting point is 00:18:30 And you have no idea how the world works. If he would have come out and said, you know, his kid's a dipshit, then that's talking shit about his kid. If he would have said, hey, you know what? His brother's dead. Good. Fuck his brother. That's talking shit. If you reference someone's family in a story, you only know it because the person has already
Starting point is 00:18:50 referenced them. So it's okay for him to reference the people. But when you, and in the story, and again, I can't believe I'm defending Marcus Hayes, who I think's a putz, just like the rest of the Philadelphia media people. But if you're going to be pissed off about someone referencing your family, then don't reference your fucking family to begin with. That's the problem I have with these athletes is they seem to struggle with how like social media and the world works. Like you go on social media, you're not in a fucking vacuum.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Everyone sees what you put. So when you put yourself out there and you want to be this big star and you put shit out there, people see it. It's not like it's just for you and your family. And I think the Embiid situation is very similar to what happened with Kelsey. Just like I think Kelsey finally had enough of something and something set him off. Having your brother being called a slur while you're walking through out in public, like that's not going to be what set you off. Like that's the tipping point i think
Starting point is 00:19:45 the same thing with imbeed and you saw it a couple days ago when imbeed was talking about how you know how he's done so much for this city and for people to talk shit blah blah blah so this was just a tipping point like marcus hayes getting shoved by joel imbeed is not because marcus hayes did what marcus hayes did is because because Joel Embiid's feeling the heat and he finally fucking snapped. And it just so happened Marcus Hayes was the guy that was the easiest to go to because Joel Embiid's not going to go out to the stands
Starting point is 00:20:11 and shove some fan. So he's going to shove Marcus Hayes in the locker room. And of course, what you get from the Philly people is, oh, fuck around and find out. How about that? We're proud of Joel Embiid. Fuck around and find out. And then what you get from the other Philly media people is because philly media people are most disingenuous cunty
Starting point is 00:20:29 people no offense but they are the most disingenuous cunty people when it comes to media people so what they do is they all like to gang up on the other media people and and be like shocked and appalled by what the other media people do even though everybody in the media in philadelphia is completely outlandish and ridiculous but now this time it's let's gang up on Marcus Hayes because Marcus Hayes referenced his family and that's where you crossed the line he talked about his family there's a big difference between saying someone's fucking stupid or dumb or saying something horrible about your family and referencing people that you've already referenced but the Philly people don't get that. That's part of one of my biggest issues
Starting point is 00:21:05 with social media and new media is I like new media. I think blogs are good. Websites are good. Podcasts are good. And I really hate legacy media. But with the advent of new media, there's more people who probably have no business
Starting point is 00:21:20 being in media that are now in media and get credentialed and have passes because, hey, I have a podcast. I want to suck joelle and beads hog podcast so i got to get a credential because they're not going to not give the i want to suck joelle and beads hog podcast or credential so they let these mouth breather type people in who's only real qualifications to do anything or that they are fans like the number of people that were ripping me on friday because i said that in bead like i said punching because that was the initial story but um i said punching a reporter over what over this tame story that in bead is soft as baby shit now is that hyperbole sure but by the way i had had a fuck ton of wine that night and i'm shooting off tweets right
Starting point is 00:22:01 so fine whatever it is what it. The number of people who come back at me and tell me that I'm a piece of shit, but their picture is of Joel Embiid and their name is like number one Embiid fan. I'm like, and then I have a podcast like, bro, you have no credibility. Like to me, credibility comes from someone being honest about what they feel about things, right? It comes from being not unbiased because we all have biases but like being fair and being critical when it makes sense and being you know praising someone when you're shit when you are like when your name is like imbeed stan 12 you have no credibility to me sorry you're a loser i have nothing for you so you know you don't talk about a man's family but i guess you wouldn't know about that
Starting point is 00:22:45 you fat fuck like thanks mcdougall i appreciate you but that's again these two stories are examples of two dudes who i guess got sick of something and snapped on these two particular people but i don't believe the two particular people were the thing that got them going initially that is all but the way people cover shit is like like basically here's how the world operates if you agree with it it's right if you disagree the person delivered an opinion that was um what's the not clickbait some will say click one person said that one of the great posts i read from someone is marcus hay Hay saw an opportunity to get a quick buck, so he talked about Embiid's family.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Do you know how working for a newspaper, how that operates? Do you think he's like, hey, I'm going to go write this story about Embiid's family, and I'm going to get paid for it? I'm fairly certain the motherfucker's got a contract. He works for the Philadelphia Inquirer, or Daily News, whichever one it is. So I'm fairly certain that he he's not like oh boy if I go write this story I'll make a quick buck do you know how it like but the problem is people talk so definitively about shit that they have no fucking clue about that's what that's what fascinates me
Starting point is 00:23:58 is the number of people who will say shit like that and like you don't make any fucking sense you have no clue and that's the part that makes me laugh about it and then then i this is my downfall like i get enraged when i see people say factually wrong things then i want to try to convince them that they're wrong but you can't because they're morons who are set in their ways and the only thing that happens is they think you're trying to cover for someone or you're full of shit so there's no winning it is a no win with dipshits on the internet. And I must relearn this pretty quickly because now I've gone down the wormhole of constantly retweeting and commenting on people's shit and I hate myself for it. Ugh. Anyway, all right, we'll get some more stuff here in a little
Starting point is 00:24:35 bit.
