I just saw a real pop-up on Instagram and it was of the 97.5 Houston Morning Show with John Lance who I know Lance a decent amount I know Lance like he and I have talked and stuff before and I know him.
I couldn't tell you the number of times I mean I don't know that I've ever even had a full-on conversation with John Granato and that's fine just never really came to that we've never really been in that situation before for our paths to cross in
such a way. So it is what it is. But I was watching this reel
that popped up. It was on their Instagram like two minutes ago.
And let me actually let me see if I can find the audio and play
it for you. I'm trying to play some more audio for you guys,
even though even though I know the audio quality sucks. But let
me play this for you.
Another girl hard so that she couldn't make a layup.
The other one took exception to it.
Who cares?
Kaitlyn Clark, she hates Kaitlyn Clark.
Yeah, she probably does.
Who cares?
People hate Draymond Green.
Men have hated other men in sports for all of eternity.
They get up in each other's face.
Like, this is the dumbest thing
I have ever seen that two players and it's all being done because of social media. It was a
regular basketball play that I've seen a billion times and if it happens in men's basketball we
don't even think twice. The Rockets have this happen every game. Every game the Rockets have
some salt and we don't think twice about
it. It's not even a, did it turn racial when Tyler Hero got thrown down by Almond Thompson?
No, we didn't care about it. Well, let me explain, let me do this. I'm going to play
a couple commercials and then I'll explain why that's not an apples to apples comparison,
right? So again, the argument is in men's basketball, this happens all the time and
we never talk about it, and it never becomes,
this person hates this person. It is not, it ain't the same ballpark, it ain't the same league,
it ain't the same sport in the way these things are handled. So we will do that after these commercials.
What's better than a well marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue? A well marbled ribeye sizzling on
the barbecue that was carefully selected by an Instacart shopper and delivered to your door. A well marbled rib eye you ordered
without even leaving the kiddie pool. Whatever groceries your summer calls for, Instacart
has you covered. Download the Instacart app and enjoy $0 delivery fees on your first three
orders. Service fees, exclusions, and terms apply. Instacart, groceries
that over deliver.
So that was Lance Zerline on 97.5 saying that it's 97.5 in Houston. And here's where I'm
not going to say they're wrong. I'm going to say where the comparisons are not the same.
Yes, there are people in the NBA who hate other players in the NBA, right? There are people that don't like
Draymond Green, Draymond Green. That was his example, Draymond
Green. And I think that there's part of this Angel Reese who
wants to be this like Lady Draymond Green, right? That's
like her ambition in a way. She's not a very skilled
basketball player. She can rebound a little bit because
she's tall and she gets some rebound. She's not a very good
basketball player. She's built her little bit because she's tall and she gets some rebound. She's not a very good basketball player.
She's built her brand. Basically her brand was created because
she was taunting Caitlin Clark. That is why she has a brand,
right? Cool. So the Draymond Green comparison. The argument
is that people hate Draymond Green, but that doesn't become
the story. First of all, Draymond Green is always the story.
If Draymond Green kicks somebody in the balls, Draymond Green
fouls somebody hard, Draymond Green is always a story. So I just don't think
that's a very good comparison. But also to the point about in
men's basketball, this happens all the time. Because men's
basketball is not a league that is built and has its audience
almost solely based on drama. Like there is drama and there's
in-game drama and Dillon and and and Draymond dislike each other but like if you look around the NBA how many guys
are talking shit they don't talk shit anymore like everybody's kind of chummy
they're kind of buddy buddy buddy you don't see like they're it like I cannot
think of people who I see in the NBA who I think genuinely hate one another they
may but I don't feel like there is a particular player
in the league that everybody fucking universally hates and
they outwardly say it and their fans outwardly say it that
doesn't exist. That's not a real thing. I disagree with
that. Yes, there are people who ate Draymond Green. There
is not a situation in the WNBA that or in the regular regular NBA that that is comparable to that. Now, if social media existed
in the 1980s, Bird versus Magic would be this. This would be Bird,
except for both players are really good. Unlike this situation where
one person is famous because she talks shit in college and the
other one is actually really good at basketball. But like both of those guys were really fucking good and that situation if we had a bird versus magic now, white guy versus black guy.
I mean trust me go back to Jeremy Lin right when Jeremy Lin became a huge story
that was a controversial topic and there were people having similar discussions like this like why is this guy getting all the attention?
There are black players everywhere that do this every day. Why is Jeremy Lin
getting this attention? Why do you think it was a big deal when Tim Tebow keeps getting
attention? Like see, these are the things that these guys are missing in this. Race
is the most important factor in everything in this era period. The reason why the WNBA
is having a moment is because of racial shit. There are very few people
out there, a very small number of people who truly give a shit about the outcome of WNBA games.
Like 2.7 million people watched that game the other day, the opening game between the fever
and the sky, right? 2.7 biggest audience they've had for a WNBA game I think they said since 2000.
Cool. The reason that game was
appealing to most people is because it was drama and it was
racial drama. This isn't hard, right? This is not a difficult
thing to grasp. Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, like I saw Dave
Portnoy say this the other day, like they keep trying to turn
this thing into a race thing. Dave, it is a race thing. It is only a race thing. It is nothing based on basketball
ability or true interest in whether or not the Indiana Fever win or the Chicago Sky win
or the Phoenix Mercury win or the Las Vegas Aces or whatever the fuck they're called.
They have their fans and their fans are into it,
but the reason why these are national stories
is 100% drama and race.
This is not difficult.
It is 2025.
Only shit that matters and gets traction
is shit that has to do with race and drama.
This is all drama.
Drama is all that matters.
So when I see Dave Portnoy saying things like,
oh, they're just trying so hard to make this a black white thing,
that's all it is.
Most of your people who read your website,
I don't even, I truly don't believe that Dave Portnoy
gives a shit about Caitlin Clark.
I think he sees Caitlin Clark as some way of getting attention and shit.
I do not believe that Dave Portnoy gives a shit about the outcome
of fucking Indiana
Fever Games and you're not going to change my fucking opinion on that and
also his fans most of the people that read Barstool are not people that are
giving a shit about the outcome of an Indiana Fever Game. The people that do
care and are defending Caitlin Clark are probably doing so because they got all
worked up when they saw the black girl talking shit to her. We've been talking
about this since it happened two years ago.
Two years ago. This would not be a story. No one would care.
That game would not have had 2.7 million viewers on Saturday
if two years ago Angel Reese and LSU win the national title
and Angel Reese goes up and shakes Caitlin Clark's hand and
says good job. Good game and hey, we'll see you again next
year.
Have a blessed one. But because Angel Reese went over and talked
shit to her, you got a bunch of angry white dudes who ran to
social media and all of a sudden people who would not give a
flying fuck about the women's basketball, Clay Travis and Dave
Portnoy and all these people who would not give a flying fuck
about women's basketball are all of a sudden angry and talking shit about injuries.
I know I talk about this every time we discuss this, but it's reality.
This is 100% driven by jealousy and race. All of this.
Like I think what happens here is a lot of these WNBA players want to believe
that like there's new attention on the league because people are good at basketball
and people are interested in watching women's basketball because the players are good. They are
not. There are really like they're really good women's basketball players that nobody was
watching before. That's true. They didn't care and it wasn't just men not watching. It was women not
watching. No one cared. People love drama. 2025 is all drama. It's all social media.
It's all black versus white. That's the fucking world, man.
Like this isn't difficult. The fact that people try to put
together long, you know, like thesis about this. Is it hard?
And then I see stories all the time like, well, there's a bunch
of these white people that only care because of racial shit. Yes, there's
also a bunch of black people who only care because of the racial shit. This isn't difficult.
So like the part that we just heard from Lance talking about how this happens in men's games
all the time. Yes, but people watch men's games and care about the outcome of men's games and like this happens all the time because they see it all
the time because they actually watch these games. The WNBA exists because of drama, the interest in
the WNBA, the reason why like there's new teams popping up. It's all fucking catty, petty drama and it's stirred by media people because they have
nothing else to talk about with it and people love drama. But
the drama would go away if and this is never going to happen.
So we can sit there and blame like I was reading some story
today blaming the media for not knowing how to talk about women
sports. Well, men and media people don't know how to talk about women's sports. Well, men and media people
don't know how to talk about women's sports so they create drama. No, the people in the league
create the fucking drama. The people who outwardly dislike Caitlin Clark because she gets all the
fucking attention, they create the fucking drama. That's why there's drama. That's why it's easy to
see shit like this and comment on it. The league loves this drama. People are paying attention to the league because somebody allegedly made monkey noises, which by the way, I'm still waiting, it's easy to see shit like this and comment on it. The league loves this drama. People are paying attention to the
league because somebody allegedly made monkey noises,
which by the way, I'm still waiting. It's day four. Where
are the updates on the monkey noises? At this point, why
don't you just go out and create a chat, have chat GPT,
create generic Indiana fever white fanboy from the middle of
America, post his picture all over the internet and say, this
is the guy that
made the monkey noises. Let's move on with our fucking lives.
Like there's an idea. Let's do that. At least you'll have
someone because what's going to happen is you're going to end up
with egg on your face whenever it's revealed that nobody
actually did anything. So that's the best part about these kind
of situations too is you've created a world where obviously
somebody did something wrong. So if the league comes out and tells you that their investigation
found that nobody did anything wrong, then you're going to have one half of the country
telling you that you're lying and that it's terrible and that you're letting them get
away with raises. So you have to have a fall guy here. So why not just go out and create
a fall guy? Put up a fake picture, have chat, just create a very realistic looking picture for a guy,
post his picture everywhere and say that like, this dude here is banned for life from Indiana Fever Games because he made the monkey noises
and now on with the countdown. Maybe you should do that because everybody now, a group of people need a head. They need like someone's head on a stake.
They need someone to be the villain. If you come out like
you have put yourself in a position now where if you come
out and say our investigation has shown that nothing fucking
happened, which is obviously going to be the case because
it's four days later and you still have not been able to find
out about monkey noises or racist shit. If it's four days
later and you still haven't found out anything in 2025,
there's nothing to find out. But now
you're going to have to make something up because people need
a pound of flesh. They need someone's head on a stake. So
you're going to come out and create someone that you've
banned so you can just say you did something. We are all
screwed. This is just the world is bonkers at this point. I
keep saying that every day. The world is bonkers. The world
is bonkers. Well, the world is bonkers. That is where we are
right now. And then they're like Angel Reese is being asked
about this yesterday. They're asking her what about this?
Well, there's no place for hate like that in this league. Oh,
no shit. What about all your friends and all your partners
who hate Caitlin Clark, which is obvious they do. So back to
Lance's point where he says there's players all over the league that hate other guys.
Not like this. This is a different kind of hate and I
think he knows it's a different kind of hate and I think what
you're getting out of that is just trying to take almost like
a safer way out in the discussion, which is like this
is all just stupid. Well, the reality is there isn't a level
of hate like that in the NBA for one player to
the other, at least not publicly like it's allowed to be in the WNBA.
The WNBA is just a giant fucking racial soap opera.
That's all it is.
And that's totally fine.
That's how they're getting their attention.
But as someone whose whole thing was like in Philly when I built the whole thing on
the drama of the stuff, the drama takes you so far and then eventually you have to settle in and people just have
to like what you're doing, right? My mistake is I took the drama too far constantly all
the time. I had beaten the guy, but I kept hammering the guy until people got sick of
it and you have to come up with a new angle. Eventually you get by on your own shit. The
problem with the WNBA is 99% of the people who give a shit and are
talking about this only care about it because of the caddy drama. So come like Tuesday when there's
a basketball game most of these people ain't going to pay one lick of attention to it and care who
wins or who loses. So but we're still waiting day four. We're on day four. Really, it's even longer than that because they had all night
Saturday. They had all Sunday, all Monday, all Tuesday. We're
now into Wednesday. We're like three plus days into this, four
plus days into this. Still waiting. Still waiting for our
angry Hoosier out there that was making monkey noises at
Angel Reef. Just waiting. Still waiting for it. Maybe they can
chat GPT and create like a couple, like a typical Midwestern couple. You know, like this is
you know, Ken and Tammy. Ken and Tammy, typical Midwestern couple who just want to go see
Caitlin Clark play basketball but then that damn Angel Reese came in there and she hit
her hard so we went to the game and made monkey noises and then create a whole story. Maybe in the fake story they
create about them they'll lose their family farm because of this. It'll be a huge fall
out. They will lose their family farm due to their racism at the Indiana Fever game.
There you go. We've created a whole story. We can now post that story and now we can
move on with our lives from this but we are in day four and we still have heard nothing of
this and the reason we have heard nothing of this is because it did not
fucking happen. This isn't hard. We got like jussie Smullett shit going on here.
Anywho, have a blessed one. We're gonna continue. We'll get some more stuff coming up.
