The Josh Innes Show - More Lane Kiffin Stupidity From ESPN
Episode Date: December 2, 2025I know I've been doing a lot of Lane Kiffin content lately, but it really has my interest. Someone named Heather Dinich works for ESPN. She's getting tons of credit because she "called out" Lane Ki...ffin over how he handled leaving Ole Miss. Let's listen to hear "message" for Lane Kiffin. I'm going to guess she doesn't live in the real world. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

again i know i talk a lot about kiffin but the kiffin story is the biggest thing in the world right
now and it's got all this all these people talking and all these dummies sounding sanctimonious and
holier than thou and blah blah blah blah so I'm going to continue to talk about it and continue
to rail on these puds but let me see here let me play a couple commercials I see a story here
it's a video from ESPN it's from the television program get up which is their morning show
based on the title I would guess it's their morning show and the headline just reads
Heather Dinnich has some words for Lane Kiffin now I honest to God and I mean
mean this with all due respect and I do mean with all due respect I don't have a fucking clue
who Heather Denich is but this video is on the front page of ESPN.com so now you've piqued
my interest because I want to know Heather Denich has some words for Lane Kiffin and I guess
I need to see so I need to see what these words are and we will find out after these words.
All right so let's find out what Heather Denich, whoever Heather
Dynich. Let's see what her message was for Lane Kiffin. I bet it was a real hard message
because Lane Kiffin is terrible and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
College football is not like the NFL, right? You cannot contract-wise operate the same way
with 10 FBS conferences and commissioners and the timing that is college football that is
unique. Second, every coach, including Lane Kiffin, preaches the Bo Schembeckler line,
the team, the team, the team.
First of all, how is like Bo Schembeckler?
How is that just the Bo Schembeckler line, the team, the team?
Okay, great.
Ma'am, get real.
I'll finish this audio in a second, but ma'am, please, for the love of Christ, get real.
Like, all these people want to be holier than now,
and all these people are sanctimonious, and all these people are just constantly ripping this guy.
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Look, man, the team, the team.
Again, that Ole Miss team was built around players that they paid to get there out of the portal.
Spare me.
Lose me, Heather, but let's see.
It's about me.
And if it's not about money, then there's a different way to handle it.
It is possible to say, you know what?
Thank you so much for your interest, LSU and Florida.
I'm going to focus on my team.
and then we can have these conversations when I'm done.
Heather, what color is the sky in your world?
Sorry, curiosity, what color is the sky in your world?
As my dad would ask me, that was one of my favorite things I say it was.
That is one of my things that my dad has always asked me
when I say something stupid or ask a dumb question.
Josh, what color is the sky in your world?
And I would ask that to Heather Dinnich here.
What color is the sky in your world?
like the world doesn't operate that way because of the way again you guys want to poo-poo this idea that the schedule matters it matters
LSU now granted LSU said they would gladly wait until the end of the college football playoff to get Laine Kiven
Lane Kiven's team said they didn't want to have Lane Kiffin around anymore which I get fine you don't want the coach of LSU coaching your team I get it
but the way the schedule is set up and the way the transfer portal is set up and the way the recruiting and signing days are set up
that's the reality.
The reality is you can't just sit there
and wait until damn near February
to take the LSU job.
So whatever happens in Heather Dinnich's world here
where it's what you could have told them
is I'm going to stay with my team.
Thank you for the interest.
That's not how it works
and you know that's not how it works.
You sanctimonious, just doofus.
You can't wait for me to do that.
Then go ahead.
LSU said they would wait.
LSU said we will wait
LSU
Virge Osberry the athletic director at LSU
said we will wait
if it's the right guy we would wait
until after the college football playoff
they know they wanted Lane Kiffin
so you're throwing this at Lane Kiffin and saying
well then you should have just told them to not do anything
until I look it is possible
it's very possible it would have happened
LSU said we will gladly wait for you
you can go coach and do whatever you want
Now, granted, it's easy for LSU to say that because they have the guy, right?
They have him signed, presumably.
They have him signed.
He's their dude.
So it's easy for them to say, because what are they waiting around for?
I mean, what else do they have going on?
They have a shitty bowl game to play in.
Like, it benefits them far more to have, you know, the coach of, of Ole Miss, you know, doing shit for them and vice versa.
Like, I get that.
I get that it's easy for LSU to be in that position and say, sure, we'd love to have you do it as long as we can keep you.
But again, what color is the sky in your world, Heather?
move on, but that's what I need to do is focus on this.
This happens all the time in jobs across America.
So there's a different way to hang out.
Tell me, tell me what jobs across America this happens.
That just seems like a blanket statement.
What jobs, let me tell you about my job, Heather.
Okay, now my job is different than, I guess, an average job or whatever.
And not just, you know, it's basically pay because my pay is terrible.
But like, and there are a lot of people that do average jobs that make a lot more money than me.
but my job is that of I have a contract and in my contract this happened to me in
St. Louis when I took the job in St. Louis, I was not allowed to even entertain the discussion
with anybody for the last up until I had like three months I think it was left on my deal.
The problem is they start peppering you with a new contract to stay with them like a year
out, right? So you got like six months left, seven, you technically cannot talk to anyone.
So you know what I did?
I had to wait that thing out.
And then it just so happened the last possible minute.
I get this word about St. Louis.
I reach out to St. Louis.
We get a deal done over a weekend and I get the job.
And then I have to tell the I heart people that I'm leaving and I'm not coming back.
I still have time on my deal.
Do you want me to still come to work?
They said, no, go fuck yourself.
And that was that.
But it was their rules and their contract set up that allowed that to happen.
So it made me look bad.
It's like, oh, this guy led us on.
I didn't lead anybody on.
If I had my opportunity to actually talk with anybody else, I would have gladly done it and decided if I wanted to stay with you or not.
The problem is I was held hostage by the contract and couldn't even talk to anybody until like there was.
I forgot how much time actually left.
I want to say, it may have been a month.
I forgot what the deal was.
But there was a rule in the deal or a stipulation in the contract that said, I could not even talk.
I had to negotiate in good faith exclusively with the company until there's like three months left on this deal.
So, of course, there's only one solution in this, and it's that I look like a dickhead.
That was the only thing that could come out of that.
Because if I decide to leave, it's, oh, this guy led us on, whatever.
And if I get fired, oh, well, he looks bad because he got fired and he sucked anyway.
There was no positive for me in this.
So no matter what I was going to look bad, and no matter what lame was going to look bad.
So in Heather Dinnich's fantasy world on Fantasy Island where she lives,
then I guess it makes tons of sense to just say, all right, LSU.
I know you want to offer me this golden opportunity.
but I'm going to wait this thing out.
It's not how it works.
Look at Kalani Sataki and Penn State right now.
Our colleague Pete Thammel has reported there's mutual interest between the two.
And you know what Sataki said?
I got to focus on the big 12.
Oh, bullshit.
You know what?
And then, oh, you know what's funny?
Heather, hold on.
Let me see if I saw this story correctly.
Hold on.
Let me make sure.
Let me go to ESPN.com.
Now, Kalani Sataki, there was a story that Kalani Sataki was Penn State's target at the moment.
You know what else I just saw about Kalani Sataki?
Sources.
Kalani Sataki intends to continue as head coach at BYU.
Kalani Sataki has begun to inform people that he intends to stay at the school,
rebuffing overtures from Penn State sources told ESPN Pete Thammle.
So great.
Congratulations to Kalani Sataki for being the most noble guy in the world.
You know what happened?
Kalani Sataki talked to Penn State.
He decided that Penn State wasn't for him and he decided to stay at BYU.
Do you think that he didn't talk to him?
Do you think that Kalani Sataki was like,
no, there's this big job, it's Penn State,
I'm the coach at BYU right now.
Do you think that if Kalani Sataki desperately wanted that job?
Do you believe that Kalani Sataki wouldn't have taken it?
Of course he would have.
He didn't want the job.
So don't sit there and blow the guy and say,
well, wow, this is a real noble thing that Kalani Sataki did.
He said he's going to wait until after the playoff to even entertain this job.
Well, here's the thing, Heather.
That obviously wasn't true.
Because if it were true, the reports would now be coming out that he doesn't want the job.
The only way you know you don't want the job is if you talked with somebody about the job.
Now, maybe there's a possibility that Kalani Sataki talked with him,
and they decided mutually that, you know what, this just wasn't a good fit.
Maybe.
Maybe he did go to them and say, hey, listen, would you be willing to talk with me after the fact?
and they say, no, we can't wait.
Maybe that happened.
But also what may have happened
because yesterday the reports were out
about Sataki that he was the target of Penn State.
Penn State wanted him, right?
So you mean to tell me that this morning,
you're blowing the guy like,
see, Kalani Sataki did it the right way,
the right way, the right way.
No, what happened in real world,
not in Heather Denich Fantasyland,
but in the real world, here's what happened.
What happened is Penn State reached out
to Kalani Sataki said we're interested.
Now, I don't know if they were truly wanted him
or not, but like, let's say they reached out to him and they wanted to hire him.
Kalani Sataki decided, yeah, this job ain't for me, I'm going to stay where I am.
There's that.
Or BYU got to him and said, we're going to give you more money or whatever.
Or maybe he just decided that's where he wanted to be.
But the idea that he's some noble guy because, well, he was going to wait until the playoff.
But then magically, two hours later, the story comes out, the no, he's just going to stay.
Do you think that they didn't talk with anyone?
Do you think he had no conversations with any of these people?
like get real you guys are just so holier than now your sanctimonious you're duchy
like get over yourselves anyway more to come
