The Josh Innes Show - Nauseating NFL Draft Weekend
Episode Date: April 28, 2025The NFL Draft devolved into a weekend long Shedeur Sanders drama. I have no issue with Shedeur or his dad. But, media people and the internet dweebs were out of control. I've never seen anything lik...e it. Of course, the biggest drama of the weekend involved prank phone calls. Yes, somehow prank phone calls have become the worst thing the world has ever seen. Well, I'll tell you this.
I don't know that I've ever seen something like I saw this weekend
as it relates to a player being covered by the media
and the media basically all regurgitating the same line
and the same dialogue, same rhetoric.
It was very weird.
Of course, I'm talking about Shader Sandersers who out front i don't dislike him i
don't dislike dm we talked about that in a previous podcast but of course you have to clarify that
because if you're critical of certain people certain other people just automatically throw
a blanket over how you feel about everything which is a bullshit way to do things but that's the way
it works as we discussed it's the life is like politics now team
fandom is like politics now if you don't agree with 100 of everything that the majority of the
fan base agrees with or the majority of the constituents of a politician agree with then
you are against that politician but as i said before i have nothing against dion i have nothing
against shadur sanders I think they lack a basic
understanding and so do their fans of how being brash and being cocky while good for your brand
is going to generate some detractors. I think that's what I find the most interesting about
people who are very brash and outspoken and cocky is they assume that you're supposed to operate in
a world where you'll never dislike them because they're brash and cocky. But the thing is, there are people who
will dislike people for being outspoken. That's just the way it is, or being loud, or being cocky,
or being self-serving. And it doesn't matter if they're black, white, Hispanic, Asian, doesn't
matter. People are always going to have an issue. Like look at some of the most divisive humans that
you'll see in the world right now, and just in sports, I got to watch this reality show about Jake and Logan Paul, the number
of fucking people who hate Jake and Logan Paul, by the way, those are two self-made dudes from
YouTube, uh, who are billionaires and are very popular and are very divisive. There are people
who hate them. There are people who love them. That's part of being famous. And that is part of being outspoken, brash, and cocky.
Dion built this whole thing. Like, I don't like when people are outspoken, brash, and cocky,
and then back into the victim role when it's like, well, people don't like me because I'm loud. Well,
no shit, Sherlock. That's how people are. Not everybody is like that. Not everybody likes you for that.
It's not that difficult.
But, of course, the argument this weekend was that the NFL cannot handle outspoken, cocky, brash black men in the NFL, which obviously is preposterous considering that.
I mean, look at the fucking wide receiver position. Look at the defensive back position. Look at those two positions on
the football field. 99% of the dudes on those teams are cocky, brash, black dudes. Like,
what are we doing? What are we doing here? I think one of my favorite things, and we got a lot of
elements to talk about because Shadur was the number one story of the weekend. The ratings on day two of the draft skyrocketed because of this drama surrounding Shadur Sanders.
But I think my favorite thing is how, and I'm not in a marginalized group, I'm a white dude,
right? But when you see marginalized groups, there's generally speaking infighting within
the marginalized group because not everybody falls in line with it.
Sort of like politics or rooting for a team or whatever.
Not everybody falls into the same category of the marginalized group.
Like if you're in a marginalized group, like black folks, some folks are, uh, are, are
not black enough.
Some shouldn't be with a white woman.
There are black women who hate
black men who are with white women like they like there's different groups you're not black enough
you're too black you're this like this happens right but what i think is my favorite thing about
the shadur story over the weekend is basically in their attempts to elevate shadur and say that the
nfl has you know doesn't like when there's guys that are like confident, strong black men.
And that's in regards to Shadur Sanders. You know, when you hear people say, oh, the NFL doesn't want
a strong black man, an outspoken, strong, confident black man, they're afraid of that.
And then you see like the 180 or so, if not more black dudes that were drafted in the NFL over this
weekend.
Like, basically, so you're saying that all of those guys are pussies?
Is that what you're saying?
Like, well, the NFL accepted them, so they're clearly pieces of shit.
The only way the NFL will ever truly be an open place is if cocky motherfuckers like Shader Sanders are taken before Dylan Gabriel in the draft.
That's the only way Tyler Shaw or Shucker, whatever the fuck the guy's name is.
Listen, if Shadur Sanders gets taken before him, a cocky, brash, outspoken black man,
then the NFL is finally breaking down barriers.
Otherwise, those other 200 black guys that were drafted, they're all dopes and they're
all part of the system.
I just enjoy that idea.
Like the idea that like you have to like in, in, in trying to elevate Shader Sanders, you
basically minimize every black dude.
You're basically saying every black dude that was drafted as a pussy, every black dude that
was drafted kisses the feet of the man.
And it's just, you know, playing a role.
They're all a bunch of Carlton's out there so they could get drafted.
It is insane.
It is insane the kind of shit that people say about this.
It's bonkers, man.
But anyway, let's play some commercials, and we will continue.
All right, if you're ready to win some real cash during the basketball playoffs,

So this whole thing is just,
I've never seen anything like it.
I've never seen anything like Mel Kiper
going off on the NFL,
saying that the NFL has no clue
how to evaluate the quarterback.
What?
Mel Kiper knows how to evaluate
a talented quarterback like what
are we doing you got stephen a smith all over this saying that it's another kappa dick this
this this is a kappa dick situation oh you can best believe we gonna talk about it we gonna talk
about it on one bite i'm so tight like what are we doing like, the part about this that's so interesting to me
is that if you replace Shadur Sanders
with like Abraham Abramowitz, star quarterback,
dad's rich, fucking white dude, right?
And his dad goes from place to place,
takes his kid with him and they're outspoken, whatever.
We'd all laugh our dicks off at some white dude that was supposed to go in the first round but you know cocky whatever and gets
you know passed over and goes to the fifth round we would mock that dude that dude would be a symbol
of everything that we dislike rich arrogant uh gifted everything seemingly silver spoon we would mock that guy he would be memes and gifts for days we would
ridicule that guy but because it's not abraham abramowitz or you know steve sanders or whatever
steve smith generic white guy quarterback who's or manning put manning's name on it right if arch
manning were to get passed over and go from the
first round to the fifth round the world would mock him and ridicule him and laugh yet Deion
Sanders who by the way his kid seemingly had everything growing up dad was in the picture
dad is rich dad is famous dad's the head coach at two different colleges so the the kid is the
quarterback at two different colleges everything that we claim to hate right whenever we talk about we talk about jobs we talk
about jobs going to people in the NFL what happens when you hear a story about you know generic white
defensive coordinator who gets another job after being fired as a head coach oh retreads that's all
it is all these nippo babies keep getting jobs and they don't
bring anybody new in yet here we are a nepo baby and we're acting like this nepo baby getting passed
over and going to the fifth round is the saddest fucking thing we've ever seen like it's fascinating
it's fascinating that what we're hearing is that the television people all basically saying the same
shit, like repeating the same rhetoric about how there's something wrong with the NFL.
They are petrified of Dion. Dion has done an amazing job of creating a universe where media
people are scared shitless of him. He's like Trump in a way. He's got Trumpian tendencies.
He bloviates. He kind of passes off the responsibility
for his actions sort of to other people, right? He's got Trumpian tendencies. He is a Trump type
of guy. Imagine if Barron Trump were the quarterback of a football team that got passed over
from the first round and ended up in the fifth round, right? You'd all laugh your dicks off at
Barron Trump. Why why he's silver spoon
dad's rich blah blah eliminating the president thing of course let's just say it's just donald
trump silver spoon rich got everything growing up same story but it's like baron trump you'd laugh
your fucking dicks off at it but because it's shadur sanders we had to sit there and act like
this was a tragedy, akin to people getting
attacked by police dogs during a civil rights march. What are we doing? What are we doing as
a world? The media, the media is so complicit in this. Nobody has the balls to be like,
this is absurd, the reaction we're getting right now. Nobody on television can sit there and go,
guys, at the end of the day,
maybe they just didn't like the way he interviewed.
At the end of the day, maybe his dad was to his detriment
by being this brash, outspoken asshole about his kid constantly.
You know, and like, you look at Dion.
Maybe if Dion knew, which I'm sure he did,
that being, you know, outspoken and basically drawing fear into the franchises and the coaches of these franchises, fear that, hey, I'll come in there at any point.
I could probably take that job.
And if not, I'm going to talk shit about you.
Like maybe pipe down a second, pump the brakes a little bit, let your kid live his fucking life and see what would happen then.
Like if I were a coach, I wouldn't want to draft a guy who i know i have to deal with his fucking dad would you oh
you got to have some bigger balls than that you got look if you if you're a man you do it you
wouldn't want to fuck with that especially if you don't think the kid you're taking is worth the
drama if you thought the kid you were taking was worth the drama you deal with it you'd say ah
fuck it i'll deal with it i have to listen to dion and dion worth the drama, you'd deal with it. You'd say, oh, fuck it. I'll deal with it.
I have to listen to Dion and Dion and the media.
Like, you'll deal with that if you think the dude is worth the risk.
Like, the argument is, oh, they're killing this kid because of Dion.
Yeah, maybe.
But Dion couldn't keep his own goddamn ego in check and shut the fuck up for five minutes
and let his kid see what he could do on his own.
People don't like helicopter
parents. It's the same way when you're a little league coach, you want to just try to coach the
little league team and not deal with the parents and the bleachers constantly telling you that you
suck. And I get the argument. We'll be a man about it and deal with it. Yeah. It's a lot easier said
than done. Like if you're like you, the saints needed a quarterback, the saints have a first
time head coach, Kellen Moore, never been a head coach-time head coach Kellen Moore never been a
head coach do you think Kellen Moore first of all there's a lot of drama that goes around taking
Shader Sanders obviously because somehow he's become like the greatest quarterback that's ever
walked the face of the earth according to the internet so there's drama and you saw the ratings
go up with all this drama this weekend every story is about Shader Sanders so as you know
his story is going to be youers so as you know his story
is going to be you know plastered everywhere he's going to be get media attention cool that's
already a tough thing but you can deal with that if you think the guy's worth the drama
but if you don't think he's worth the drama do you want to deal with constant media scrutiny
do you want to deal with deon sanders chirping and you know he fucking will he cannot help himself
Deion will be up there doing a press I bet he plants dudes out in the crowd to ask him questions
about Shadur while he's the coach at Colorado just so he can talk about Shadur at Colorado and if he
doesn't plant them they'll be there anyway because they want to get quotes because people want to
create drama because drama gets people to read your websites, listen to your podcasts, buy your newspapers, whatever.
Do you want to deal with that?
And does that make you a bad person if you don't?
Now, if this were Mike Vick and this were a guy that was a super stud
that throws it 80 yards from one knee and is like a dude that the whole world
unanimously believes is a number one overall pick you put up
with some bullshit in this case they don't want to but the way the reaction to this story has been
is it's like some sort of indictment on the nfl and somehow we've regressed in terms of race
relations and it's like what are we fucking doing you read some of the comments from people about this and listen to media people
about this. It confirms that we are a ridiculously stupid nation of people. We are really dumb and
we lack any common sense. And the only currency that matters is the color of someone's skin.
And that's the only thing that matters. Nothing else about you matters other than,
hey, you're black, you're white. That's it. That's all the media cares about. That's all anyone cares about. It is bonkers. It is nuts
what we're seeing here. I knew the second Dylan Gabriel was drafted, I'm like, uh-oh,
well, this isn't going to be good for poor Dylan Gabriel. Let's go back to this. Let's look at
Cam Ward. Cam Ward, seemingly the kind of story that you would root for.
We talked about this last week.
Zero star recruit, came from nothing seemingly,
from out the mud, as they say,
on the Out the Mud podcast that I listen to, which is good.
Coming from that background.
And then you got a Silver Spoons dude.
There's this video of the two of them, Shadur and Cam,
at some sort of camp or something together, throwing the ball.
And Shadur is making jokes and being like,
hey, you want to do a rap song together?
You want to do this, whatever?
And Cam Ward's like, dude, just shut the fuck up.
I play football.
Now, maybe that's all for show.
Maybe he knows what he's doing, Now, maybe that's all for show. Maybe he knows
what he's doing, whatever, too. It's very possible. But I'm watching this and I'm like,
Cam Ward's out here like, dude, just stop fucking yapping and play. And then he's like talking shit
about how all he does is throw check downs and shit. I'm like, this is fun. I enjoy this.
But it's good when somebody will go back at Dion or his kid.
And you actually get like a legit back and forth, which you very rarely get because people are petrified of Dion because Dion controls the room.
And if you say anything back to Dion, oh, fuck you.
It's on now because the whole world would turn on you.
So I don't know, dude.
Like this weekend was bizarre.
Just a strange weekend.
Then you had the whole thing
about the prank phone call and you like it's wild I know I keep saying that the things are bonkers
and wild but like Dion's kid gets prank called it's a dickish thing to do like you acknowledge
that like it's one thing to just prank call someone and say hey is your refrigerator running
it's another thing to prank call someone and be like, you know, hey, you're going to the Saints. I'm just kidding. Now, again,
if that were Abraham Abramowitz that got prank called, the whole internet would laugh at it and
go, ha, ha. Or they just wouldn't notice it. Kind of like how Tyler Warren of Penn State had the
same thing happen. Kyle McCord had the same thing happen. But these people don't talk about that.
Every story about this prank call investigation from the NFL,
every story, the headline is,
NFL investigating Sanders prank call.
They don't give two fucks about the other people that were prank called.
They make it sound like it was some targeted attack on poor shadur sanders when
tyler warren kyle mccord i want to say isaiah bond of texas may have had the same thing happen too
like multiple dudes had this happen to him it's happened to other people in years past
but we're talking about prank calls now prank calls are the end of the world.
Shit that normally just makes people laugh and you're like, well, that was dickish.
Shit that Bart used to do all the time calling Moe's Tavern.
Prank fucking calls.
Things we all did when we were kids and dipshits.
Pick up the phone, call someone and hang up.
Whatever.
Knock on someone's door and run away.
That type of shit.
Stupid prank shit.
Again, it's an asshole thing. And I get where it's kind of fucked up that they were able to get the number I don't know if he actually like I don't
believe that Jeff Ulbrich gave the number to his kid like I don't believe that so his kid may have
gone through his shit and found these numbers which is fine I seriously doubt like I don't
believe Jeff Ulbrich is like hey I took i gave his number go prank call these guys i mean i don't know i just give him more credit than that but dudes are assholes they do asshole
things but like this is what's crazy about the world you got people sending go fund me's to a
guy who stabbed a fucking dude at a track meet and we're over here worried about fucking prank phone calls.
But the other important thing to note,
and people seem to fail to realize this,
is that there will be, and we talked about this earlier,
there are always people who hate confident, brash, cocky people.
Not just black dudes, Mexican dudes, whatever, white dudes.
Everyone.
People hate Conor McGregor.
People hate Money Mayweather.
People hate the Paul brothers.
People hate cocky people for whatever reason.
They're divisive.
That's the reason you do it.
But don't play victim when there's people who don't like you.
That's the part that annoys me.
It's like Angel Reese. I liked Angel Reese when she was talking shit to Caitlin Clark.
Then when it became, why are people mean to me on the internet? And why are you sexualizing me on the internet? Well, I'm wearing a fucking thong bikini on the internet for you. Then I'm
like, I lose interest in you. I don't like to deal with hypocrites and I don't like to deal
with shit like that. You have to be, you have to know who hypocrites and I don't like to deal with shit like that
you have to know who you are and embrace who you are
you gotta know that there are people who are just
and it's not because Shader Sanders is black and cocky
it could be the same thing if he were white and cocky
or Mexican and cocky, it doesn't matter
now, I'm sure there are some people who see a cocky black dude.
I'm not dismissing that there are bigots in the world.
There are some.
And I don't dislike or, like, I'm indifferent on both of them, Dion and his dad.
There are moments that I'm like, I dig this guy.
There are others that I'm like, he's totally full of shit and I can't.
But that's how I operate as a person.
Once I think you're full of shit, I lose interest in you.
That's what happened with Angel Reese. Go back and listen to the old podcast. I was all about Angel Reese and
I was all about defending Angel Reese because I felt that a large part of why that story became
such a huge thing is because it was black versus white and the black girl was the cocky one.
And that's why Clay Travis and that's why Barstool and all these people got on board with it because
it was divisive racially. And I truly believed and I still do believe that the reason that story became anything
is because black versus white and she became the big enemy in that like if some other white girl
would have talked shit to Caitlin Clark nobody would have given a fuck but it was sassy kind of
cocky black chick that does it and it becomes a big story and I was all on Angel Reese aside
until Angel Reese starts getting
more in the spotlight and you realize that she sits back and just plays the victim a lot and
she's showing her shit all over the internet then she's like why are people sexualizing me I don't
know because you're showing everything to everybody on the internet what do you think's gonna happen
like I don't dislike people until they think they're full of shit like I think Livvy Dunn
if we're talking LSU lady athletes,
Livvy Dunn knows why she's famous and knows why she's rich.
It's because she's hot.
It has nothing to do with gymnastics.
Right.
But then whenever like there's dudes that show up at gymnastics meets that
just think she's hot,
you know,
because they check out her bikinis and shit on the internet and check out
all of her wacky poses and shit on the internet.
They check her out and then they show up and they're like,
we love you, Libby.
She's like, oh my God, it's so weird that all these guys are here
and they think I'm hot.
Who do you think's looking at your shit on the internet?
Who?
It's the same argument you make whenever they put up the documentary
I watched about the kids' YouTube channels.
Who do you think's watching kids YouTube
channels it ain't kids it's creeps so who do you think is getting you all these views on your shit
creeps horndogs that's who's watching your shit so when I see Livvy Dunn like this this is guys
are so icky and they're what what do you think? Like, huh?
Like they're evil because they think a hot chick is hot.
Shame on them.
But that's the hypocrisy and that's the kind of shit.
Now, I'm not telling you there aren't creeps that do weird shit to Livvy Dunn.
Like I'm not saying that doesn't happen.
But what I'm saying is a lot of dudes, like I've seen videos where these dudes just show up and they're in love with Libby Dunn in the same way that girls show up at baseball games,
cleat chasers at baseball games, and they're obsessed with baseball players. But when a dude does it, it's like, oh my God, I feel icky. Oh, hold on. Let me post another bikini pic though.
Hold on. But I feel icky. Just know it's weird that I get sexualized on the internet,
but hold on. Let me do one where my legs are agape and I'm doing a stretch.
Why do they sexualize me so much?
And it goes back to the Dion thing.
Like people are going to dislike people who are cocky and arrogant.
So don't sit there and play victim when people do it.
Because people are going to dislike you.
Anyway, more to come.
