Starting point is 00:00:33 all up in this Monday morning. It is 425 East, which means that most of you who listen to this podcast, it is 3.25 in the morning, and your heads are still nestled snugly on your pillow. But not me. That ain't me, babe. I'm not asleep at 3. Well, I was asleep at 325 my time, but I'm not asleep right now. I'm up.
Starting point is 00:00:54 You're snuggled all warm in your beds, and I'm sitting at the rest of. radio station prepared to deliver the Monday edition of this here podcast. So, look, it's a tough job, but some Jumoke has to do it. And I am that Jemoke. So let's do this. Let's get a couple commercials out of the way. And then let's talk about the games from yesterday. Let's look at all the football games from yesterday.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Give you a couple thoughts on each one. How about that? Then we'll dive deeper into the ones that we feel necessary. We'll do that in another episode. How about that, kiddos? That's coming up after these words. All righty. Let's see where to begin. Let's take a look here. And we will start with yesterday's action. And yesterday's action we will look at, let's see, we'll start with the first game of the day, which was the Vikings and the Browns. That game was playing London because the NFL is obsessed with playing games overseas. Imagine you're the Vikings who had to spend like two weeks out of the country. And at least you won one of these games because yesterday it wasn't looking very good for the Vikings. I still don't believe. believe in them at all. Carson Wentz is fine, but I don't really believe in them. They beat the
Starting point is 00:02:02 Browns. Cool. The Browns are one and four. The Browns are still not very good. Dylan Gabriel was fine, but there was nothing special. But then again, it's the dude's first start. So what do you want from him? Like, I know that he's going to get a lot of shit because, like, this guy has been not his fault, but he's been thrown into this Shedur-Sanders online race war, which is, you know, you've got a bunch of people that think Shadur Sanders gets mistreated because he's Dion's son and because he's black. And there's going to be a certain group of people, a very vocal group of people that are going to hate Dylan Gabriel and anybody else who plays the quarterback position for the
Starting point is 00:02:38 Cleveland Browns because they think Shadurr Sanders is getting jobbed here. And they think that way because he's black basically and he's Dionne's son. And that's the way that's going to go. So Dylan Gabriel's kind of thrust into this situation that is an uninviable spot. Now, there are some people who want you to succeed, but for the most part, there's a large group of people who don't want you to succeed. They want you to fail so Shudur Sanders can have the gig. So you've already got that going against you.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Think about all the shit this guy's got going against him already. That, you're like the 400th starting quarterback for the Browns in this century. It's the Browns, so it's a disaster anyway, so you're up against it anyway. Like, I feel bad for the guy because he put himself into a situation or he was put into a situation that he had really nothing to do with other than he got drafted, and this is where he is, and now he's been named the starting quarterback, and he has to deal with the bullshit that comes along with that, not just the normal bullshit that comes along with being a starting quarterback, but the bullshit that comes along with being the starting quarterback in Cleveland
Starting point is 00:03:39 while Shudder Sanders is on the bench. He played fine. There was nothing special. He made a couple of nice throws, but other than that, there was nothing overly special, and they lost the game. So there you go. Raiders and Colts, it turned. Turns out the Raiders are shit. I thought the Raiders were going to be a fun team that could sling it around a little bit. And I thought this game had potential to be a back and forth kind of shootout game. But the Raiders are terrible. They are going nowhere.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Gino is dreadful. But then you've got to look at the Colts, man. Every time you wait for the Colts to fall off a cliff and say, all right, Daniel Jones, turn back into the pumpkin again, would you? Every time you wait for that, it doesn't happen. What do we get yesterday from Daniel Jones? Oh, 212, 2 tuds, no interception, 1-13 quarterback rating. Like, that's what you got from Daniel Jones. And you wait for him to fall off a cliff.
Starting point is 00:04:29 You wait for it to be like, see, told you so. The guy is still Daniel Jones, deal with it. They are legit. They're certainly legit in that division, which is not a very good division. But are they legit Super Bowl contenders? And that I'm still not going to do. I'm not going to come up there and say, you know who could win the Super Bowl, the Colts and Daniel Jones.
Starting point is 00:04:47 because it feels weird to say it. Like, maybe they are Super Bowl contenders, but I refuse to say it because I'm still judging Daniel Jones based on what we know of Daniel Jones, which is Daniel Jones and New York sucked. For the most part, it was terrible. So I can't sit there and say, yep, Daniel Jones Super Bowl, because it feels too odd to say it.
Starting point is 00:05:07 But then you've got another game coming up here in a second what we're going to talk about. When you talk about the Sam Darnold versus Baker Mayfield, and you're like, are these two guys actually? good? And like, yeah, they kind of are. So it's a weird situation. But I refuse to say Super Bowl for the Colts because it's Daniel Jones and they're still the Colts. But they got a very good shot at winning that crappy division. And you look around the AFC and you're like, who's infallible in that league? Is it the Chiefs? Is it the bills? As we learned last night, they're not infallible. Look around and think of the teams we thought were supposed to be good. The Texans are not very good. Baltimore is not very good. So in a way, it's kind of like, why not the Colts? But anyway, they dominated big time in that game yesterday. Let's see, the Giants and the Saints. Hey, good for the Saints.
Starting point is 00:05:55 If they were ever going to get a couple of wins, it was going to have to be games like this, rookie quarterback on the road, in the dome, and the Saints played well. And they forced some turnovers yesterday, played a good game and got to win. Look, I'm a Saints fan, but I'm not sitting here rooting for them to win. It's one of those situations where I'm not rooting for them to lose every game because, like, Oh, God, I want them to lose because of the draft picks and all that shit. That's not how I'm viewing this. Like, I want to see if Spencer Rattler's potentially any good, and he's been okay.
Starting point is 00:06:25 You know, I want to see what they got. Here's what's going to happen with the Saints, though. The Saints, according to a lot of reports, the Saints are a candidate to get rid of a lot of veteran guys. And there are veteran dudes on that team that I would say have a lot of value to a good team. Like DeMario Davis. You want to know which one's going to hurt me the most when he goes is DeMario Davis. I know that he's not a lifelong saint or anything like that. But he got there whenever the Saints turned it around in that 2017 era when they got good again from 17 to 2020.
Starting point is 00:06:54 And my God, I love this guy. Man of God, great defender, like a heart and soul kind of guy. And that'll be what I miss. Like I love Alvin Camara. And I want Alvin Camara to, like, he will go down his all-time great saint player, all that. But when Camaro gets traded, I'll be like, okay, fine. Like, it is what it is, but DeMario Davis will be the one that I'm going to miss the most. But, you know, Chris Olive is a guy that's a candidate to get moved as well if they decide to move a lot of guys.
Starting point is 00:07:25 They have offensive weapons. They have players. And they have assets, Juan Johnson. Again, I don't know how likely it is they trade all these guys. It's not like baseball where you see fire sales or anything like that. But if there's a team that – and very rarely do you see those kind of trades, too, like you see in baseball or basketball, for that matter. but if there's a team that's desperate for a position player at tight end or a wide receiver or running back, the Saints certainly have some options.
Starting point is 00:07:50 You look at their talent level at the skill positions on offense, and it's very good. And a couple of spots on defense, but not as much. And look, my man, Jackson Dart making his first road start, went about what you think it would. I'm still all over the guy. I love him. I think he's going to be a star. Cowboys and the Jets, I did not watch one second of this game. I don't know who would willfully watch any of a moment of a Jets game.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Cowboys are decent. They're two, two, and one. They're hanging around. They've got enough weaponry on offense, even without CD Lamb, that they can score points. They're playing a really bad Jets team. So whatever, I cannot sit on the couch and make the decision to flip to a Jets game. If there are seven, eight other games going on at the same time, there was never any incentive to turn on the Jets. And they're like the one team that is like that.
Starting point is 00:08:39 The Jets are just an unwatchable, uninteresting. The games are terrible. I can't do it. So I will be totally honest with you. I watched maybe two or three seconds of this game. I needed to have a catch in the first quarter from Jake Ferguson. So I flipped it on in the first quarter and the second Jake Ferguson got a first quarter catch. See you later.
Starting point is 00:08:58 I never turned that game back on again. That's one of those games where if it's the only game that hasn't hit halftime yet, you'll flip it on. But otherwise, the Jets are a giant waste of time and they're 0 and 5 and I can't do it. Broncos get a giant road win. The Eagles seen how the other half feels after they are the team that usually rallies and comes back and wins. They didn't get the job done this week, though, as the Broncos came back. On one hand, you got Jalen Hertz out of here throwing for 280. So look, he proved he could do it, right?
Starting point is 00:09:28 On the other hand, the day that you see that they can actually throw the ball, they lose. And not only did they lose, they outscored 18-0 in the fourth quarter. So, again, talking about teams, I hate watching play. I hate watching the Eagles play. It is an unenjoyable situation. Like, they almost felt like they were forcing throwing the ball yesterday just to show they could throw the ball. It looks like they're having another A.J. Brown situation. He's saying more shit now, apparently.
Starting point is 00:09:56 So I don't think they're going to melt down. Their defense is so good, even though it wasn't good in the fourth quarter and they were outscored 18-0 by Bo Nix at home. I'm like, that's an ugly loss. Losing to the Broncos is not ugly because I don't think the Broncos are terrible. Blowing a big lead at home, blowing a 17 to 3, fourth quarter lead at home to Bo Necks and doing it by being terrible in the fourth quarter, unable to move the football on your own in the fourth. I mean, you look at the possessions in the fourth quarter.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Broncos cut it to 1710. You got Eagles three plays minus six yards. Broncos score a touchdown. Go up 18 to 17. Six plays 72 yards. next drive three plays two yards punt for the eagles 11 plays 50 yards four minutes off the clock 21 17 Broncos and then the end of the game for the Eagles so hideous and you look look you want to see something really hideous after they went up 17 to three on the first possession
Starting point is 00:10:53 of the third quarter five plays punt three plays minus 16 yards punt three plays minus six yards punt three plays two yards punt when the game was still realistically in the balance They had four consecutive possessions of punts and were awful. So some soul searching to be done for the Eagles. But Devante Smith had a big game, so at least there's that. And Saquan Barkley, it ain't his fault. I don't think it is. I don't think you go from a guy putting up 130 yards a game to doing what they're doing with him now.
Starting point is 00:11:27 But he's on a milk carton. Dude doesn't do damn. It doesn't do shit. Dolphins and Panthers, another game that was really irrelevant. But a game the dolphins had to win. and wins another one and four and we're just back to Firewatch for Mike McDaniel. Texans with a big victory over the Ravens. It's big in terms of the score, but in reality, that is a bad, bad Ravens team. They are beat up. They don't have their quarterback.
Starting point is 00:11:50 And by the time he comes back, their season may be over. They're one and four. And even when he was there, let's not act like the Ravens were any good when he was there. They can at least get in shootouts with Lamar. Now they're just awful. And you look at what they are. Like I see Texans people like going ham. Like, oh my God. Like, I don't think a lot of people know how bad the Ravens are, because they're just the Ravens. So you assume they're going to be good defensively, and that's that. They are not. That is not a good football team, really on either side of the ball. They're fine offensively. They are dreadful, which sounds ridiculous to say, but they are dreadful. So good for the Texans, finally beating the shit out of someone.
Starting point is 00:12:25 You needed to get that out of your system. It felt good. Even though you whipped up on Tennessee last week, it was still in the balance in the fourth quarter. This game wasn't. You kicked the shit out of them. good for you, and the Texans are trying to hang around. And in that division, you never know, because maybe the Colts come back down to earth and you fall back into the race. I don't know. But we'll get into that deeper, I think, in another episode. Titans at Cardinals, not even bothering with this one, but good for the Titans.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Hey, the best part about it is that Cam Ward threw for 265. I finally took the overpassing yards, and he finally hit it. And good for them, because they are a nightmare. And the one thing I took from this is when the Cardinals were 2 and 0, they were the biggest false two and oh you're going to find. I think they'd beaten the Panthers and the Saints, big fucking deal. And now they've lost three games in a row, including this one, who was previously the worst team in the NFL, a winless team, and that's a bad home loss for the Cardinals.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Bucks and Seahawks was the game of the day, man. You talk about Baker Mayfield versus Sam Darnold. They combined for over 700 passing yards, back and forth. Every player, like, Buka was huge. Jackson Smith and Jigba was huge. It was just a fun game. game. I hated that it ended the way it ended. And the way it ended was an interception in their own territory, which just set up Tampa. Tampa keeps finding a way, though, man. You know, they're
Starting point is 00:13:45 without Mike Evans. They got some injury issues. They were without Bucky Irving. And you know what they did? They figured it out with Rashad White. Fuck, I love this. I love Tampa. I love Baker Mayfield. I love the dude. Like, that was just a fun game. It was hard not to watch it because it was just captivating. Best game of the day. Most exciting game of the day. Most exciting game of the day. I like when you see offenses executing. I don't need to see a 10 to 7 a defensive battle. This is 2025. Spare me. I want to see teams executing at a high level. That's what I'm here for. I'm here for selective defense, but I'm here to see offenses executed at a high level. And part of that is because I'm a degenerate gambler.
Starting point is 00:14:22 So I like to, you know, take, you know, receiving yards and passing yards. But when you watch some teams, and it's like pulling teeth, like the Eagles who, by and large for this year, have been tough to watch, then you watch teams like the Buccaneers and the Seahaw. yesterday, or like the next game, which is the Lions. When the Lions are cooking, man, they are just a gorgeous football team to watch. They are a sexy football team to watch. This game was not as close as the final score would indicate the Bengals scored 21. It's tough to believe that the Bengals scored 21 points in the fourth quarter of that game,
Starting point is 00:14:53 but it was never really in question. It was a dominated game through the first three quarters. It was a 28 to 3 game going into the fourth quarter, and the Bengals started scoring some junk touchdowns late but look I love watching the Lions play I'm not saying that because I live here I have no one's ass I need to kick I'm going to guess nobody from Detroit listens to this so it's not like I'm kissing anyone's ass I love watching Detroit play offensively they are just fun I love I love excellence and they are excellent offensively and I love Amman Ross St. Brown's game and I love the running backs and I love the tight ends and they haven't even really got
Starting point is 00:15:29 it cooking with James and Williams yet if they get it cooking with James and Williams going over the top for 70-yard tuds. I mean, look out. I love the lions. I love watching them. And the Bengals continue to just be difficult to watch. Commanders just throttled the Chargers. Game was closer than the score would indicate.
Starting point is 00:15:46 It was 27 to 10, but another loss for the Chargers. And all of a sudden, that team that everyone was blowing saying, look out, Super Bowl. Now they're three and two. And look out for the commanders. They're three and two as well. And then last night, nice win for the Patriots. they have knocked the bills from the ranks of the undefeated
Starting point is 00:16:04 Drake May man you talk about a guy that just is just doing the damn thing 273 last night he's played very well the Patriots could should would be a four win team they gave the game away a couple weeks ago against Pittsburgh but they should be a four win team Patriots can play man
Starting point is 00:16:20 defensively you can question them but offensively Drake May can move it man he can sling it they got weapons Stefan Diggs can still get it done man like dude Look out for the Patriots. And then the bills are no longer undefeated, good. I have questions about the bills.
Starting point is 00:16:35 I don't like the playmakers on the bills. I just don't believe in the bills. I'm not a bills believer. I'm also not a Chiefs believer in the Chiefs play tonight. So we shall see. And we have more to come.
