The Josh Innes Show - Shedeur Sanders Wins His Debut

Episode Date: November 24, 2025

I have no issue with Shedeur. I think he's a likable guy. He sort of has a doofy look about him. But, overall, I don't mind him. My issue is his fans. His fans are the Swifties of the NFL. You are...n't allowed to be even remotely critical or you will be deemed a racist. His fans, much like Swifties, have zero ability to engage in civil discourse. Learn more about your ad choices. Starting point is 00:00:00 All right. Let's see here. Welcome in. All Up in us. Hello. So I was thinking this this weekend because Shudor Sanders made his first start and he won for the Browns and all that. And that's all well and good. Like he didn't suck or anything like that. He's fine, right? Like he's fine and that's how this goes. And I was thinking this weekend because there are certain people where there will only be two answers to what you are if you feel a certain way about them. Right. Like, there are only two things you can be. Like, you can either, like, there's no real middle ground, right? Like, if you don't like Shudur Sanders and you find him annoying, you find it so because he's black. And the internet will tell you that you feel that way because he's black and that you are racist and terrible. Or you're either going to love him and you're going to love him because you think the rest of the world is racist because they don't like him, right? So those are the two options. And there was another situation like that this weekend.
Starting point is 00:00:56 I saw a tweet from a guy that's a media person, I think, in Memphis, probably just some fanboy that's got a blog type of dealer writes for some kind of throwaway thing. That's not really a media person, but they give media passes to everybody. Now, you want to know part of the problem with the world is we give media passes and access to everybody and we treat everybody like they should have access and they shouldn't. Not everybody should have fucking access. You want to hear me go off on something? Not everybody should have access. Not everybody with a podcast or a blog or a website should have access to everything because not all of them do shit that's worthwhile. 99% of them are fanboy dipshits who write weird shit that like, like they, you know what?
Starting point is 00:01:38 Hold, let me play some commercials and then we'll talk. So that's kind of where I stand, right? Like I look at some of these guys and I don't care that they have access and I'm not some elitist that feels like, you know, you should only have access to something if you're a dude that. it's on the radio or TV or old guard media or whatever it is. Like, I don't give a shit, right? Like, I'm not a believer. Like, I hate most old guard media and old TV people anyway. The problem is we give access to too many people who are unskilled,
Starting point is 00:02:09 uninteresting fanboys who write nothing of substance because they are fanboys, and they just fight with other team's fan bases, and that's their example of journalism or their example of content, and it's fucking obnoxious and it's no good. That's my problem with it. There are too many people. Like, have all your little podcast and all the shit you want. If you're not good at something, fuck off.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Like, when we sit there and we have to treat everybody like they're good because if you don't, like, you're bullying them in some way. Not everybody is doing good shit. Not all content is good content. And sometimes there's too much. And I see these people on social media and, like, say you're a Texans person that has like a Texan's website or a Texan's podcast. And instead of writing shit that is, you know, I say unbiased, everybody has a bias. You know how I feel about that. Everybody is biased in some way.
Starting point is 00:02:56 So let's not act like, you know, like there's a such thing as unbiased. Even the people that are on TV, even the people Walter Cronkite had biases. Everybody has biases because we're human. Fine. Okay. My issue is that you get too many people that just kind of go down this fucking path of fighting with other teams fans. And nothing they say is credible. They're just telling people what they want to hear and they're fighting with people.
Starting point is 00:03:20 And there's no nuance to anything. they say, that annoys me. So that said. So I see this guy, and I don't know what he writes for, who he is, but he pops up on my timeline because I've tweeted about the Grizzlies a couple times. So if you tweet about something a couple times or respond to a few things, all of a sudden your feed is just filled with people who you don't really give a shit about, but like you forced to see it because they talk about something you've commented on, you know, like the
Starting point is 00:03:45 Memphis Grizzlies. So John Morant, who is a moron, like he's a wannabe tough guy. he's not as good of a player as he used to be he's a far more drama than he needs to be he's constantly at it with the coach and everything else he's a pain in the ass and honestly he ain't good enough to be a pain in the ass anymore his game is regressed you could argue he's not one of the top 30 40 players in the NBA you could argue it like he's just not worth the headache that is john moran that is who he is now that's just like he's not worth that headache okay fine so this guy tweets basically something very easy later take is, if you really want to see the racist come out, tweet something positive about John Moran. So what you're telling me then is that there are only two options. You have to think that everything that John Morant does is good and you have to suck farts out of his asshole or you're a racist.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Those are your two options. There's no middle ground here. And that's the world we've created, this weird, lazy world where everybody can just run to the internet and call you racist if you don't think that some human that they think is great is great. Like, look, I have nothing against Shadur Sanders, and in fact, I love his dad very much. I enjoy him. Yes, he's a shitty football coach.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Yes, his football program is abysmal. And the shines worn off of it, and people aren't going to the games anymore, and people aren't watching them. Shit, I was watching, they were playing Arizona State on Saturday. It was, like, relatively late on Saturday night, and they're playing. They're playing at home. They're down in the fourth quarter. The stadium might be a 10th full.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Like, nobody gives a shit. The shine is worn off. It's not fun. you're not winning, you're not exciting, your son's not there anymore, whatever. But I like Dion. He might be full of shit, and maybe he's not, but he carries himself in a way that I appreciate it, and I appreciate his attitude, and I'm into it. Like, I like Dion.
Starting point is 00:05:34 And I have nothing against his kid. I think his kid comes across as a dufus who's trying to play a character because that's who his dad was, and he's trying to play a character. I don't know that he's really this kind of arrogant and narcissistic character like his dad plays. Like, I don't know that his kid deep down is prime. Like, I don't think that's who he is. But I think he feels like he has to because that's the expectation as he's got to be prime. Like, real talk.
Starting point is 00:05:56 When I look at the guy, like, he looks stupid. I don't know that he is stupid. Like, his dad is not stupid. His dad doesn't look stupid, nor is his dad stupid. His dad is a brilliant marketer, a brilliant business person. He has created this universe where he's getting paid like $9, $10 million a year to coach at Colorado. And the teammate worth a pot to piss in. Like, he has done a good job for himself.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And he's a great marketer. He's great at branding. I'm all about Coach Prime. His son just looks dumb. And I don't mean that to be insulting. And I know it's impossible to not be insulting when you say that someone just looks dumb. But some people just look dumb. Some people look really smart and are dumb.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Some people look dumb and are really smart. I don't know how smart or dumb his kid is. But like the way, like there's something about the look of him that looks stupid. Again, it's just like a face that you're just, he has an annoying face. It's no different than go down a list of people like I think Pavia has an annoying face I think I'm trying to think of other people that just have punchable annoying faces Brian Kelly Brian Kelly had a punchable annoying face he didn't look stupid but he had like a punchable annoying face right like when I look at like Brian Kelly who I hate punchable face
Starting point is 00:07:15 I don't even know that I would say that you know I don't even think Shudur has a punchable phase. There's just something about him that, look, like he just seems dense, if that makes sense. And he seems like he's playing a character that maybe he doesn't actually want to play, but he's doing it because he has to be the heir apparent to prime. But I have nothing against him. He's one of those guys that I dislike more because of the reaction of his fans, in the same way that you'd hate a Tebow because of his fans, in the same way that you would hate Jeremy Lynn because of his fans, and the same way you would hate Jimmer Fredet because of his fans. When people are hardcore psychos and zealots over somebody, you know, like Britney Spears people or Taylor Swift people,
Starting point is 00:07:55 the Dallas Cowboys, their fans just make them more easy to dislike. And Shadur is easy to dislike because his fans don't see any sort of middle ground. Everything he does must be the greatest thing that's ever happened, and everything he does poorly is somebody else's fault, and everybody who criticizes him for anything or looks at him even remotely, fairly, is a racist. And that's the biggest problem we run into in the country. One of them. There's plenty. But one of the biggest problems we run into in the country is that people are so focused on calling you bigoted or racist because you disagree with something they say or don't like somebody that they like that nothing ever gets done. And no one calls
Starting point is 00:08:34 these people or checks them on anything. So they just continue to be doofuses that go out there and call you racist because you don't like a player that they like. So it goes back to the guy that was tweeting about John Morant, the alleged media dude. I don't know what the fuck he does. But the alleged media dude in Memphis who's like, look, if you want to see racist come out, just tweet something positive about John Moran. Oh, so if you're critical of him, you're racist. It was the same thing that we talked about it here the other day. There was the guy who called about James and Williams. Oh, by the way, James and Williams, big game yesterday for the Lions, zero yards. Dude just got like an $80, $90 million deal, whatever he got. Zero yards.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Every other game, he'll have something, every two games, he'll have a big game. The other games, zero, 20, 30 yards. But if you call up and criticize them, there are just certain dudes who fall into that protected category where there will be a super group of like caped crusaders who run out to rush to their defense anytime someone, particularly a white person, is critical of them. And James and Williams here in Detroit is one of those people, I guarantee you, if you got on the air today and criticized anybody on the field you'd be allowed to, even though they won, but you'd be able to criticize golf and nobody would care.
Starting point is 00:09:44 You can criticize offensive lineman, nobody would care. You could criticize whomever. But if you criticize Jameson Williams, there's like a little buzzer that goes off for people, like a little call goes out. And there's a group of people who build their whole ideal about the world around the fact that people, particularly white people, are horribly racist. And there are certain guys that should just be protected from these horrible racist people. James and Williams is one of them. One of them is Shadur Sanders. He's just a controversial guy.
Starting point is 00:10:12 You can't be a white guy and be like, I don't like him. I find him annoying and obnoxious and he's riding his dad. Because I can feel that way in the same way that I found Tebow to be annoying. And I got sick of hearing about Teabone. He wasn't very good. I was allowed to say that back in 2011, 2012 when I was on 610 because you could because he's an acceptable target. Guys like Shudor Sanders are not acceptable targets because Shudor Sanders is a young black guy.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And if you're a white guy and you're critical of him, you just don't understand it. You don't understand his big personality. You're just a racist piece of shit. there is no middle ground and that's why there's no resolution in anything no one's ever going to figure anything out in life because that's how we operate that's why when you say you know what the fuck is john morant doing people view that as oh you want him to act more white blah blah blah you just can't handle it you're racist oh shitter sanders carries himself weird and i think he just looks dumb which i like i can't explain it i don't think he's stupid he just has a like
Starting point is 00:11:06 tell me i'm wrong when you watch the guy talk and you watch the way his eyes kind of dart all over the and he just constantly has this kind of dumb smile on his face. He looks dumb in the same way that, again, I think Brian Kelly has a punchable face in the same way that I think Pavia looks kind of like a meathead. Like there are just certain looks that certain people have. Like when I look at Shooter Sanders, and again, I'm not saying he's dumb. I don't think he is dumb. But there's a quality about him that I just find annoying.
Starting point is 00:11:36 That's nothing to do with his game. His game's fine. Maybe he'll be the next big thing. I don't know. But he's already the next big thing. because he's the topic of conversation everywhere because these people know that race drives conversation and there's going to be one group of people that don't like him
Starting point is 00:11:49 and then another group of people who are going to tell those people who don't like him that they don't like him because they're racist. And then it just keeps the wheel spinning. Again, nothing against Shadur Sanders. Don't think he's a bad dude. He actually seems like a decent enough guy. Like I don't think he's a piece of shit. Like I think he's a guy who's trying to impress his dad.
Starting point is 00:12:08 And I think that's his MO. I get it. People have daddy issues. If your dad were Dion Sanders and you're a football player now and your dad's one of the most famous Hall of Fame football players ever and he's known for this big character that he created, you kind of want to follow in those footsteps. And it's hard to do. So I would guarantee you this guy's got some daddy issues. I guarantee it because why wouldn't he? I don't really have daddy issues in that regard because I've never viewed my dad in that way.
Starting point is 00:12:37 But my dad's also not Dion Sanders. My dad's local radio dofus. Dion Sanders is one of the handful of greatest NFL players to ever walk the face of the earth. And oh, by the way, he's not some silent guy. He's a big bombastic personality. So that's a tough thing to follow up. I don't think that Shadur Sanders wants that. I don't think that's who he wants to be.
Starting point is 00:13:00 And I don't think Dion's telling him to be that or forcing him to be that. I think he feels this weird pressure to be that. That's the vibe I get. the vibe I get from him is a guy that's probably maybe a soft-spoken guy, maybe just chilling. I don't even know that he like, maybe he doesn't. Who knows? Like, maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Again, I don't know these things.
Starting point is 00:13:19 I'm not accusing him. I just don't know. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe football's not really his bag. Maybe he's doing it because there's a pressure. And whether his dad legit put pressure on him or not, I don't know. But I do know that, like, in that spot, maybe he just feels that. Maybe he just goes, like, I feel like I have to impress my dad with this.
Starting point is 00:13:37 so he plays this kind of character. Because Dion, like actual Dion, is it like Prime? He's told you that. Like, he'll tell you that all the time. Prime is a character that he created to advance in life. I don't know that his kid likes being this guy. I don't know. It just feels kind of forced to me.
Starting point is 00:13:54 I don't know. I have nothing against him. I think his fans that are going to call you racist if you don't like him are assholes. But whatever. More to come.
