The Josh Innes Show - Sherrone Moore Fired...

Episode Date: December 11, 2025

First off, before we get into all the horny details, let's look at the information we actually know. I've grown to find Dave Portnoy and his performative shit to be annoying. His instant reaction t...hat "Michigan doesn't accept 9-3" was so beyond stupid. I don't know how he is taken seriously by anyone. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Starting point is 00:00:28 welcome in all up in this podcast. Glad you guys are listening to the show. Tell your friends about it. Would you do that, please? Thank you, maybe, kind of, sort of. That would be very nice. So make sure you tell your friends and spread the word. Obviously, the most interesting story of the day is that Sharon Moore is no longer the coach at Michigan
Starting point is 00:00:48 because, well, Sharon Moore has a thirst for all them white girls, I guess, because, well, look. Hey, where are the white women at? Look, that's Sharon Moore right there. Hey, where are the white women at? Breaking news for Sharon Moore. That's one of the things you always hear. Like, you start getting in with them white girls and shit goes south real quick, brother.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Real, goes quick. And shit really did turn south for old Sharon Moore. It's an interesting discussion that we don't know all the details of it. Now, there are wild speculations out there, like, you know, that he showed up at the chick's house and wanted to slit his throat or slit her. There's different stories out there that are all. pretty crazy. We don't know what's true and what's not true, but he did get detained, and assault is the word that's being used for that, so I don't know if he threatened to kill this chick, if he threatened to kill himself, what the whole story was, but holy shit, things really took a turn
Starting point is 00:01:45 for old Sharon Moore. Let's get into that after these words. First of all, my favorite thing about this story is that Dave Portnoy, who I, look, I like the pizza reviews, and I acknowledge that the guy does really awesome. some stuff for like charity and stuff, and he's built this giant empire. So I respect the hell out of him from that standpoint. I just, I don't like him for whatever reason. I think he's full of shit. I think one of the people that listens to the pod used a good word. He's just performative. And I get that everybody's performative and you have to be performative in this era. I just really hate overly performative people. And I think a lot of the shit he does is just
Starting point is 00:02:23 performative. And it doesn't do anything for me. I'm not into it. But it's possible to not be into what somebody does, but I have a great respect for what they've accomplished and a lot of the stuff they do. And that is me as it relates to Dave Portnoy. Like, I have a great respect for a lot of shit the guy has done. But big picture, I just don't like him. Like, I respect a lot of the stuff that Pat McAfee has done. I just really don't like Pat McAfee.
Starting point is 00:02:45 I used to like Pat McAfee. I used to really enjoy Pat McAfee. And then I just kind of got turned off because I just, there's too much of him. I'm tired of him. I think the content is kind of weak, relatively speaking. It didn't do anything for me. That's all. Like when I see Pat McAfee singing country music with somebody, like putting out music, I'm like, all right, I've had enough fucking Pat McAfee. Like, we've kind of jumped the shark with Pat McAfee. But anyway, that's not what this is about.
Starting point is 00:03:09 So when the news broke about Sharon Moore, Sharon Moore, the Dave has to rush and put out a video yesterday. And the video is, oh my God, we don't settle for nine and three. We don't settle for nine and three. Not at Michigan. Blah, blah, blah. This is shocking. Like, he could have waited five minutes. you know, saw the report that the guy got whacked for cause because the guy was banging somebody in the office, but of course you have to rush to the internet and tell the whole world like, oh my God, we don't, we don't settle for nine and three. We're not mediocre at Michigan, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:03:41 And for someone who's so smart, it's wild to me that like you hear about a guy getting fired and your first instinct is not to go, oh, there's more to this, which was the first thing I thought when Jilly sent me the message about this dude, she goes, holy shit, Michigan fired their coach. And I sent this text right back to her that having looking at any stories because you have to just use your brain in something. Like for the timeline and everything, you have to use common sense and use your brain and go, obviously something was afoot. And I'm going to guess they have cause because there is no way in hell. You're just firing this coach after the recruiting period's over.
Starting point is 00:04:17 After all the coaches have already been hired at all these other schools, there is no way you are just firing a coach because he went nine and fucking three. And you weren't just doing it because, oh, we had to get the signing class. And then once we got the signing class, we were going to fire the guy anyway. None of that. Like, use your fucking brain, dude. Like, how difficult is this? And I know everybody's in such a rush to get on social media and make their opinion heard. Within like 10 minutes of the story coming down that Sharon Moore, Sharon Moore had been fired.
Starting point is 00:04:44 I keep saying Sharon, it's Sharon Moore. Within like 10 minutes after the guy got fired. Let me see what the timeline was on my phone with Jilly. There's Jilly sent me this message. Let's see, yesterday I'm out in the freezing cold walking my dog. It's miserable and terrible and awful. Jilly sends me a message and the message says, let's see. Holy shit, Michigan fired their coach.
Starting point is 00:05:09 To which I respond, holy cow. That was at 442, to which Jilly says, I feel like this one really came out of nowhere. I wonder if there's some other scandal going on, to which I said, you'd think so because there aren't any other coaches out there. That was at 442. At 449, I send Jillie a screenshot of the statement from Ward Manual, the University of Michigan Athletic Director that says he was fired with cause, effective immediately, an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
Starting point is 00:05:41 The conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and UM maintains zero tolerance for such behavior. All you had to do is wait five minutes. You can still twingo. Holy cow, I wonder what else is up. but like your first instinct if your port noise is we don't settle for nine and three we don't settle for that not at mission like like his shit is just so fucking obnoxious and annoying because I hate people who are clearly doing shit just to get a rise out of people it enrages me like I hate when people are willfully stupid when people just play a stupid character I despise it that's why I despise him love the pizza reviews love the shit that he did during the rona and shit I don't think the guy's a dreadful human by any means and he's a brilliant person in terms of building barstool. That's the shit that I'm just like, I don't need this shit, bro.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Like, spare me your bullshit. I don't want it. I don't need it. All you had to do is wait five fucking minutes. Five fucking minutes. And you'd find, oh, by the way, Sharon Moore got fired because Sharon Moore, and I've said his name wrong each time I've said it. It's kind of like when I try to say, oh, who's that name I butcher all the time.
Starting point is 00:06:44 I forgot who it is. But like, I'll say the name 10 different ways all the time. But anyway, it doesn't matter. Alvin Kamara Kamera type of deal. but all you had to do is wait five minutes wait five minutes and the story comes out that oh by the way it's got an inappropriate relationship spare me the bullshit about how at michigan we don't accept mediocrity michigan by and large is a mediocre hellhole that's overrated and has been overrated for years and years and years and until they started cheating and stealing signs they weren't winning championships anyway michigan is a giant overinflated brand with a big fan base that generally speaking underachieves they just spent three million dollars four million dollars a year on a quarterback and they lost three fuck in game. Spare me the idea that nine and three ain't going to cut it.
Starting point is 00:07:27 But that said, we haven't even gone into the details on this. Maybe that'll be in the next episode that we kind of go into the detail and like the rumors and shit about this. But just looking at it straight up from a Michigan football standpoint, they have now gumped their way into getting a better coach. Because now you're hearing, well, will Kalin DeBoer leave Alabama? And in a million years, I wouldn't leave Alabama to go to Michigan. Although there is one perk of going to Michigan now that was not the perk of going to Alabama when you went there.
Starting point is 00:07:59 And you guys know how I feel about following the man. At Alabama, you followed the man and you will always be chasing the image of the man. That is what you will always be doing. You will never be Nick Saban, right? You will always be the guy that followed Nick Sabin and his seven championships or whatever the hell it was. Like you will always be following that dude. If you go to Michigan, you're following the dude that followed Jim Harbaugh. You're following the dude that didn't do shit after Harbaugh left.
Starting point is 00:08:30 You're following the dude that was suspended for multiple games because of that sign-stealing scandal. An impermissible text or whatever the hell it was that got him suspended. You will always be the guy that followed the dude who was dismissed disgracefully because he was banging and who knows what else with some chick in the office. That is the one perk of going to Michigan. There will always be pressure at Michigan, but there will be less pressure going to Michigan and replacing Sharon Moore than going to Alabama and replacing Nick Saban. And they'll always hate you at Alabama. That's how it will always be because you're never going to be Daddy Nick Saban.
Starting point is 00:09:08 That will never be you. But getting to replace Sharon Moore is a lot easier than replacing Jim Harbaugh. That to me would be the only thing. and obviously Michigan's got cash, but you know who else has cash? Alabama. The other perk of going to the Big Ten or going to Ohio State or going into that part of the country, going to Michigan, is you're going to face less competition. Look at what's going on down at LSU right now. You've got Lane Kiffin until, you know, he somehow bolts for Alabama when that job's open. But you've got, like, it's nuts.
Starting point is 00:09:41 You know what the SEC is. I'm not going to go into a full-on breakdown of what happens in the SEC. You guys get it. The Big Ten, very top-heavy. I don't believe that Indiana has stain power. I believe that this is not a fluky thing, but Indiana is never going to be this again. This is just who they are in the brief moment that they are, but I don't buy that they're a long-term thing. Oregon is a very good program.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Ohio State is a very good program, and Michigan's a very good program. Look around the rest of the Big Ten. Like USC is an up-and-down middling-type program. Cool. Congrats to USC. Penn State, up-and-down middling program. Who the hell cares? Although people believe that getting Matt Campbell is actually the, they gumped their way into it as well, but we'll see. That's the kind of the sexy thing that people are saying right now, but we'll see. Michigan State's a throwaway program at this point. Indiana is having a moment, but I don't believe that that is some sort of sustainable thing there. Purdue. Go down the list. You have a chance, and Michigan has proven it. They've got the money, and they can compete, and they have an easier path to where they want to go by playing in the Big Ten.
Starting point is 00:10:43 So if you're Kalyn DeBoer, is it easier to go to the college football playoff out of the Big Ten where some years your schedule, like look at their schedule this year. Their schedule this year was trash. They didn't play anybody worth of shit, right? And the teams they did play that were worth of shit, beat them. Pretty well, actually, pretty handily. You go down to Alabama and every year, whether, you know, the coaches are getting fired or not, you're facing five-star studs all across the board nine out of 12 weeks, eight out of 12 weeks. It's a tougher put. Now you've got Lane at LSU.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Now you've got all this going on. What world do you want to be in? That would be the only thing I would look at and go, maybe I'd leave Alabama. The other issue you run into if you're Kalin-Dabor is that every year they want to fire you. So do you just want to get out in front of it now and say, screw it, I'm out? Like, don't give them the chance to fire you. Because if Alabama goes 9 and 3 next year, they'll probably fire the guy, right?
Starting point is 00:11:33 If you don't make it to the college football playoff again, they'll probably fire you. If you're losing games to Vanderbilt and other teams you shouldn't lose games to, they'll probably fire you. again. If you get smoked in the conference championship game, they'll probably fire you again. So, do you just want to get out in front of it and say, fuck it, these people don't appreciate what I'm doing anyway? I want the Michigan job. I get to follow a doofus that just got fired
Starting point is 00:11:56 because he couldn't stop fucking his secretary or his assistant or whatever. And I'm not following the guy. I'm following the guy that followed the guy. Let's go. So there's something to be said about that. I do think that there is a there is a reason why you'd want to go there. And I've actually talked myself into why. Because if you're Kalin-Dabor, you probably coached down in Alabama and don't believe that people appreciate you. You're tired of hearing about your job security every week.
Starting point is 00:12:25 You're tired of hearing that. And you probably just want to throw double birds and say, fuck it. I can get just as much money, if not more money at Michigan. They'll clearly spend money at Michigan. They just signed Bryce Underwood for $3 million a year. They'll give you a little bit of a little bit of a lot. leash because Sharon Morris sucked, but he was going to get another year. So do you go out and get out in front of it and say, here's what I'm going to do.
Starting point is 00:12:48 I'm going to get out in front of all of this. And I'm just going to leave now, take my... If that's the guy they won, that's every... I don't know if every story is that that's Michigan's number one target, but they are the odds on Vegas favorite right now. Kalin DeBore is the odds on Vegas favorite. So, which way do you do you do you just say, hey, I'm going to write this out? Because let's say you write it out at Bama.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Now, of course, in his business. mind, he's not thinking that next year he's going nine and three at Alabama. Next year, he's going 12 and 0 and going to the playoffs. So you're not thinking that you're going to suck, and you probably won't. It is almost impossible to suck at Alabama at this point. It is a ready-made job. You cannot fail at Alabama. You win 10-game. Dude, they won nine games this year or whatever, or they lost three games this year and they're in the college football player. So, you know, Michigan lost three games well. Ain't the college football player. So just, you know, take that for what it is. Did you can lose three or four games this year, I forgot. But either way, point being in all of this is the only reason, I say only reasons, the only collection of reasons that you would leave Alabama is because Michigan has an easier path into the college football playoff with less competition inside the conference. They've got money and they're willing to spend it. You've seen that with Price Underwood, all that shit. And you're just trying to get out in front of it because these people want to run your ass out of town. You're in the college football playoff.
Starting point is 00:14:10 they want to run your ass out of town. Right? But then you have another interesting scenario here where another coach would leave a school that's in the college football play have to go to another school. There's a lot of fascinating angles to it. I wouldn't leave Alabama to go to Michigan,
Starting point is 00:14:24 but if you truly are of the belief that you're coaching for your job every year and you feel underappreciated and you feel that pressure, how often will a job like Michigan be open? You're not going to have too many summers of love, if you will, falls of love where Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Penn State. Go down the list of giant schools that just have job openings every year.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Ole Miss, you're not going to get those very often. So if you believe you're in for the long haul, stay at Alabama. If you feel like they truly want to run you out, and I don't know what's going on behind the scenes with the dude, what the drama is like and how much they really hate him or don't hate him, but I don't think I'm taking that gig. Who are some of the other ones? Let's see.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Odds for Michigan next head coach. Let's take a look. betting odds. So, let's see, Sharon Moore fired. So Kalyn DeBoer is number one at 4 to 1. Then Jesse Mentor. Joe Brady. Brady's an interesting one, but I, man, I'm just not leaving the pro game to go
Starting point is 00:15:21 coaching college. There's too much volatility in it. Now, he can get another job anywhere anyway. And maybe, you know, we're at a point where Joe Brady's ceiling has kind of been lowered in the pros or his shine's been worn off a little bit because the offense there hasn't been as good. but, and maybe he wants to coach college. Jed Fish, who's at Washington, Jeff Brom, Kenny Dillingham.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Like, I think Kenny Dillingham would jump at the opportunity to get the fuck out of Arizona State. That's just never going to be a viable place. So maybe he would. Brian Daybowl, Lincoln Riley, Dan Mullen, Marcus Freeman, Brian Kelly, 25 to 1. Just fuck with people and hire Brian Kelly. That'd be fun. Dan Lanning is 14 to 1. I don't believe Dan Lanning.
Starting point is 00:16:04 That's not a chance he's leaving. I would never leave Oregon and go to Michigan. I just, I wouldn't do that. To me, Oregon's one of the best jobs out there. You can talk about whatever you want to talk about with it and say it's in Portland or it's not in Portland, but it's up in Eugene, Oregon and all this. You've got Nike money. You've built a huge brand there. You've won there.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I would never leave Oregon to take any of those jobs that are available. To me, Oregon is one of those 10 jobs you don't leave, right? I think LSU is one of those jobs you don't leave unless you get fired. to think Bama basically falls into that category unless you think you're getting fired. There are certain gigs you just don't fucking leave. And I would never leave Oregon. Oregon's too good of a job to leave for a lateral, if not lower tier moving, going to Michigan. So Dan Lannning is not going to go there.
Starting point is 00:16:50 But anyway, all right, let's get to some other stuff. We haven't even gotten to the horny details yet. So we will continue.
