Interesting I have never heard this story. It feels like something I should have heard but I've never heard this. Spain's high court on Wednesday, June 25th upheld a verdict that found former soccer federation president Luis Rubiales guilty of sexual assault for an unsolicited kiss on the lips of a national team player, Ginny Hermoso, at the 2023 World Cup in Sydney. The court rejected multiple appeals against the conviction, reaffirming Rubiales' kiss to Hermoso without her consent during the medal ceremony after Spain's women had won the trophy. He was fined over 10,000 euros, which is about $11,592 American,

and acquitted of coercion charges alongside three co-defendants. Prosecutors have sought two and a half years in prison and called for a retrial, both of which were dismissed. The incident sparked widespread debate about sexism in Spanish society and women's football fueling momentum for the Me Too movement in the country. He argued that his actions were motivated by an uncontrollable joy, but the court ruled that his restraint with other players and attendees demonstrated that he could have avoided such behavior with Hermoso. Quote, since the emotion did not lead him to express his joy so effusively by kissing the other players or the accompanying persons in the box and he restrained himself. He could have

also done so without too much effort with the captain of the team. I kind of agree. Like I've watched this video and yeah, bro, like I don't think you're gonna win that you obviously did not win that. Well, let's see what this chick looks like. What is Ginny Hermoso look like? Like in America, it is not common practice that you just walk up to, you know, someone that you're meeting or someone that you know, and our acquaintances with and just kiss them even on the cheek. not really what we do here. Like I never would do that, right? Like especially people of this generation aren't going to do that. So if he would have kissed her on the cheek would have been okay, like I guess that's the part I struggle with now and now if you watch pretty woman, you know, if you kiss somebody on the mouth, that is too personal. Like I also don't think that like, like it is an interesting thing because the shit that happens in sports, there's a lot of shit that happens in sports that if you did it in real life, it's not it's just a different universe right like

You gotta get up off the bench to give them your seat because they're the guys in the game and they're you know getting water and **** you slap them all on the **** you hug random you hug your teammates in a game. Like but that's not normal. Is that normal to just to hug people? You know, it's not normal to

slap. Certainly not normal to slap people on the ass, but in the world of sports, it is. It's not normal to like fight people, but in boxing it is. It's not normal to tackle people, but in football it is. So like there are different worlds and different rules. So there is a gray area. There is some gray matter in there. Like is what happens on the field of player in this case on a podium after a championship is won.

Where does that fall into the like the overall scheme of sports versus real life? Then again, like how is that different then again like it's like you had time to think about and he kissed her multiple times like I'm watching the video like I think at one point he did kiss her on the cheek and then he's like you know what I'm just gonna grab your face and kiss you right on the mouth I'm so horned out right now I am so horned out after winning the World Cup. to happen to this person? I'm going to assume not because if you're in Spain, I would imagine you're used to people at least kissing you on the cheek. Right? So this is not like, Oh, somebody groped your breast or like you're some dude that like, you're not Tim McGraw getting your balls fondled by some lady that's in the front row of the concert. Like, this is a little, like, this is a little bit different. Like, there are varying levels of bad things. And like in the grand scheme of things, I don't think this is the most fun. What I think here is we had a gentleman that was trying to be opportunistic is what we had here.

It'd be like, no, these are stories you do hear about and these are not good stories. But like you hear stories about dudes filming movies like legit movies. And then like you're kind of making out or you're doing whatever in the movie like a Raiden R movie or whatever, not a porn, not a, you know, a mature audience. It's not an NC 17, but like, you know, a normal movie. And during a love scene, a guy might take advantage of that shit. Like some people have claimed like last Tango in Paris Marlon Brando like actually sexually assaulted or raped the gal that

he did the sex scene with. Like these things do happen. And that's a dude taking advantage of that moment. And in that moment, it would be hard for anybody to believe that like something bad happened because you're already filming the love scene so people kind of take advantage of those situations. What we might have here is a gentleman taking advantage of like you know what I'm just gonna steal some sugar right here because what I mean what are they gonna say we just won the title everybody's happy smoochy smoochy work it smoochy kissyoochie smoochie. That said, I don't know that I think that's more that what happened. I'm leaning towards like the

guy wasn't trying to be a predator per se, but he was trying to take advantage of the moment to get some lip action because he didn't do it with the other people. You got like if you would have done it with all 20 people that came through there, you'd go, this guy's just he's he's affectionate. He's a very affectionate man. In this instance, I don't think you'd say that because he singled out one person. I don't know why that one moment you're like, fuck it. Let's smooch. Like I

don't know. Like I think you obviously knew what you were doing there. Anyway, that's the latest on what's going on in Spain.
