The Josh Innes Show - Spitting Is A Dirty Habit
Episode Date: September 5, 2025Could we have had a more bizarre start to the NFL season? Jalen Carter is a dipshit. The "Dak Spit First" crowd are morons. That said, if you're the Cowboys, how the hell do you come out of that g...ame feeling good? If you're the Eagles, you played mediocre, you're best defender left the game before the first snap, and you still won. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

When I found out my friend got a great deal on a wool coat from winners,
I started wondering, is every fabulous item I see from winners?
Like that woman over there with the designer jeans.
Are those from winners?
Ooh, are those beautiful gold earrings?
Did she pay full price?
Or that leather tote?
Or that cashmere sweater?
Or those knee-high boots?
That dress, that jacket, those shoes.
Is anyone paying full price for anything?
Stop wondering.
Start winning.
Winners, find fabulous for less.
Yeah, I don't give a shit the DAC house.
happened to spit in the direction of Jalen Carter.
I knew once we saw that other video, once we saw the video where they point out the
DAC had spit, that it was going to become, oh, my way, he spit first.
Look at that.
There's a major difference between spitting on the ground and spitting in someone's chest.
There's a major difference.
So there's one to get out of the way right now.
Right out of the shoot, Jalen Carter was a dipshit.
and Jalen Carter was a selfish player.
Jalen Carter was a stupid player.
And his absence was a major reason why the Cowboys
were very much in that game and could have should have won.
If C.D. Lamb doesn't drop three balls.
If C.D. Lamb doesn't...
The last one, you know, the long one over his head, diving attempt.
Yeah, that's a tough play.
Maybe he makes it. Maybe he doesn't.
The play a couple of plays before where it hits him in the hands is atrocious.
He had a couple of those earlier in the game as well.
So if a couple of things go the other way, the Cowboys very well could have won that game.
Give the Eagles credit because the Cowboys wanted to run the ball late in the game.
The Cowboys wanted to put together a sustained drive.
But even without Jalen Carter up front, they were able to get penetration with just the dudes they were bringing up front
and beat up the Cowboys offensive line and prevent them.
Really, the key to the game was the Cowboys second to last drive.
when they got the ball back with like eight minutes to go and they wanted to put together
a lengthy drive and they wanted to establish a game on the ground.
I think they had like 14, 15 yards on the first play on a pass to CD and then they tried
to run the ball and found themselves behind the sticks and could never make up for it and
have to punt.
And I think that's really where they lost the game.
And of course, CD dropping a couple of passes that were gigantic, including two in the last
drive.
Again, I'm not going to destroy the guy for not making a diving full extension.
and catch. Is it a play that can be made? Yes, but I'm not going to say, oh, God, how does he drop that?
That's not, you know, Jackie Smith dropping a pass in the end zone at the Super Bowl or anything
like that. It's a play that could be made. An elite receiver probably makes that play, but I'm not
going to shit on him for it. I will shit on him for a couple of big drops in the game that were
atrocious and took points off the board and very well killed the Cowboys. If I'm the Eagles,
Let's look at it from two standpoints here.
If I'm the Eagles, I'm without some key pieces, including one of the best defensive players in the game.
I'm not getting anything out of my best wide receiver.
He's a complete no-show.
He finally gets targeted on the last drive of the game.
No show there.
My running game is completely stymie.
The only running game I really have is broken plays from my quarterback.
My quarterback can really only find Dallas Goddard and then one sexy,
deep ball to Dodson.
But other than that, the passing game wasn't super sexy.
Like a fourth of his yards came on one pass.
With all that, and you lose Carter early, your team's committed nine penalties.
They look like the most undisciplined team on the planet out there.
Like, have they always been that stupid?
Like, as a team, they just committed so many dumb penalties.
Even with all that, you still won the game.
The Eagles, in no way, played a good ball game or their best ball game.
and they were able to beat a division team.
And if you look at it from the Cowboys standpoint, to me, that's got to be a, like,
you might be able to spin that as like, hey, we beat ourselves and CD dropped three balls.
And despite that and despite the fact that, you know, it wasn't a great game from, you know,
I mean, Pickens was fine, had a couple of catches and, you know, whatever.
But we, we are able to go in there, only be down to score late with a chance to win it at the end of the game.
And we blew it.
We dropped a couple of balls late.
You could spin it that way, or you could spin it.
We were gifted this opportunity because Jalen Carter was a moron.
We moved the ball well for our first handful of drives.
We were damn near unstoppable offensively.
We're on the road with a chance to steal a game against the defending Super Bowl champions.
And what did we do?
We found a way to beat ourselves.
In a game in which our coach was making his debut, there were a lot of things you had going against you.
You had just lost Micah Parsons a week ago.
All of these things are going against you.
yet you're on the road with a chance to win it in the final possession of the game.
You could spin it that way, and that's probably what they'll do.
But the reality is, it's a blown opportunity if you're the Cowboys,
because I don't think the next time you play the Eagles, the Eagles are going to look like that.
The Eagles look really not good for a team that's coming off a Super Bowl,
a team that's well-coached, they were super-undisciplined, many stupid penalties.
They kept the Cowboys in the game with stupid.
penalties. They didn't throw the ball well at all. Like, I can see, if I'm someone that
roots against the Eagles, I can see where I'd watch Jalen Hertz playing, go, that fuck this
guy. He's not any good. Like, I can see where you'd watch that. Like, made one gorgeous
deep ball to Dotson. And outside of that, like, you watch the passing game and it's, oh, shit,
that was quick. I'm going to run now. Or, hey, I'm going to throw something underneath here
to the tight end. I'm going to throw it to Goddard for seven here, eight here.
Like, I can see where that would frustrate the hell out of you.
I can see where if I'm the Cowboys, I'm a Cowboys fan last night.
I'm watching that going, this son of a bitch, if he can't run, he's nothing.
If Cowboy, if quarterbacks were somehow not allowed to run, which is obviously not a thing.
But if somehow a quarterback had to stay in the pocket and could not advance the ball past the line of scrimmage running.
Like, it's like you're playing flag football or something.
And the quarterback is not allowed to run forward.
what can he do?
I can see where that would just destroy you mentally.
Because some of the shit that happens with this guy, you're like,
you did everything right, and the guy just runs for 15 yards and screws you.
You know, so I can see where it'd piss you off.
But they never figured out.
Well, how did they, like you're watching plays late in the game where they go five wide
to try to ice the game and they end up icing the game.
And you're watching and you're like, there's no way he's not going to hold on to the ball.
He's not going to throw the ball here, yet somehow they don't seem to know that.
They all get super aggressive trying to tackle him behind the line of scrimmage and then, oh, here's eight yards game over.
How do I know it and you don't?
Now, again, you're in the play.
So when the play is happening, you see the quarterback, you see Red, you over-pursue.
The second you over-pursue on Jalen Hertz, it's over.
Like on fourth and three, your idea, look, I'm not the coach here, third and three, whatever it was.
I'm not the coach here and I'm not an expert on football, right?
I'm not Matt Eberflus here.
But I'm probably bringing nobody because I know what's going to happen.
If he beats one person, if you overpursue with one guy, he's picking up 10 yards and the game's over.
It's an unenviable spot to be in.
But once you guys see Red and they all want to get that sack, that's when he's going to beat you.
I can see what that's frustrating as hell, man.
Then he had the delay in the middle of it.
I don't know who it negatively impacted or did.
And I think both teams played equally as kind of blah after that timeout, after the hour and five-minute delay.
I don't think that was a huge killer to either team.
Like, I don't think one team had a greater advantage over that.
I think that defensively, it felt like the Cowboys or the Eagles rather started getting home a little bit more after that, maybe.
But outside of that, I don't think either team lost any momentum.
I mean, the Cowboys had just fumbled.
Again, you talk about another missed opportunity.
they fumble the ball down around the 12-13 yard line.
They're going in for a score, trying to take the lead,
and at worst, cut it to one, and you fumble right before the weather delay.
So, again, if you're the Cowboys, you could, and this is what they're going to do.
This is what Brian Schott and Iber probably told them right after the game,
and he's going to tell them they have a meeting today or tomorrow.
They're going to sit down and go,
hey, that's the world champion that you just played in their place.
We had multiple drop balls on balls that would have changed the game.
We committed some dumb penalties ourselves.
We lost our best defensive player a week ago, one of the best defensive players in the game.
And, oh, by the way, we fumbled the ball going in for a touchdown that would have changed the game.
We would have taken the lead late in the third quarter.
You can't, and you can spin it that way if you won.
That can be your thing.
But I think I would, you can say it publicly and you can say it to the team to try to keep the morale up.
But the reality is all those things that I said are more of a reason to be pissed that you didn't win the game.
because it was right there.
It was getable.
Like you were a six-something, six-seven point underdog going into that game.
You know, you had every, and oh, by the way, they lost their best defensive player,
one of the best defensive players in the league because he's a dipshit.
And you still couldn't find a way to get the job done.
And if you're not going to win in that situation, when the fuck are you going to beat him?
So back to Carter.
He's like apologized and everything for it.
And I knew the second we saw the video where Dax spit,
even though you can't tell how far his spit went, you know that it was down towards the ground,
the second you saw that it was going to become, what's he supposed to do?
There are a lot of Neanderthals.
Like, the internet is an interesting place.
Actually, it really isn't an interesting place.
It's just a breeding ground for dipshits.
And dipshits don't really use logic in anything.
Most of them are meatheads.
Most of them have the inability to point out when their player on their team is a dipshit.
They look for an excuse for why the player was a dipshit.
well it's like on TV you're like there the announcers are like boy I wonder what he said to cause him to spit on him I'm like nothing that should have caused him to spit on him there's like one thing where the whole world would agree I guess that if somebody said it that spitting on them would at least be justified maybe not the right move maybe still punishable by penalty or objection but you go okay it's justifiable like I get it if the quarterback were a white dude and the white dude would have said the N word then everybody in the world on social media would have been like I get it.
That's like the one thing that could have happened.
Well, news flash, Dak ain't a white guy.
So whatever Dak said to, if there's nothing that can be said in that little situation, not a fucking word, nothing that's going to justify spitting on him.
Spitting on him, you could argue is the most disrespectful, disgusting shit ever.
And it's also like pussy shit.
Spitting on people is pussy shit.
Now, am I going to go up to Jalen Carter and call him a pussy to his face?
No, he might spit on me, so I'm not going to do that.
But it's pussy shit.
Like, I don't know that I've ever spit on a human intentionally, aside from, you know, like, you know, like a little spittle flying from my mouth when I'm yelling about something.
You know, like, like Buford Tea Justice talking to the bandit and the choke and puke while he's eating a Diablo sandwich and a Dr. Pepper, like that kind of spittle.
But I've never spit on somebody on purpose because spitting on someone is truly the most.
vile shit. That's Brett Hart to Vince McMahon type shit. Spitting on someone is gross.
So you deserve to get your ass whipped for spitting on someone. Spitting right on someone, too.
Like, who does that shit? Like, that's just dumb shit. Like, today in Philadelphia, there should be
nobody defending that. There should not be a host defending it. There should not be a caller
defending it. I don't care that the DAC spit on the ground in front of him first. Do not give a shit.
There should be no one defending that.
Oh, they're out to get us and oh, he spit first.
You're just Neanderthals and you have zero coping skills.
Sports fans are just swifties, but they're passionate about something else.
Instead of 15-year-old living in 15-year-old land perpetually, you live in 15-year-old sports fan perpetually and you can't use common sense and you can't look at a situation for what it is and go, okay, that's our guy's fault.
That was clearly a stupid move
And it could have, shoulda, woulda cost your team the game
Because in that first half, they were exploiting the shit out of the fact that he wasn't there.
I don't think there's any situation there where the teammates would be defensive of that either.
Like publicly, they may come out and say, you know, hey, that's our guy.
We have his back.
If they would have lost that game, there ain't no way people are like, hey, good job, man.
Oh, the leak screwed us.
No, you're a dipshit.
You did something stupid.
And it could have, shoulda, would have cost your team the game.
Fortunately, you're playing the Cowboys, and they're going to cowboy, and they're going to fuck themselves.
That's just what they do.
But just, I'm trying to think if I've ever, I don't believe I've ever spit on somebody intentionally.
Like, that doesn't even cross my mind.
Like, what kind of nasty motherfucker do you have to be?
To, like, a thought crosses your mind to spit on somebody.
Like, I've wanted to punch somebody before.
Like, and I've probably gotten in fights with people before.
And there have been times I've wanted to go.
straight up Ralphie and Christmas story and lose my shit.
Like yesterday, I'm in a turn lane, like in between the two yellow lines, you know,
trying to, none of the light, but trying to turn into like the parking lot of a McDonald's.
And some guy was behind me, trying to get around me to get further up in the turn lane to
go up and get to the light.
And I'm completely within my rights.
I have to turn into the McDonald's somehow, turn left into the McDonald's.
And the guy starts honking at me in this truck.
fucking rolls down his windows.
He's driving by and flips me off.
And I really just wanted to go beat the shit out of this guy.
I'm like, go fuck yourself, dude.
What do you want me to do?
I need to get into the fucking McDonald's here to get my sodie pop.
Like, so I can see where people can snap.
Someone pisses you off and you just want to be like, motherfucker, I don't care.
And Jillie's like, well, what if he would have shot you?
I'd be like, fuck him.
I don't know.
I was very pissed off about it.
But sometimes, like, you snap and I can see.
Like, we talk about dudes punching other dudes in the helmet.
Nothing dumber than that.
when you're fighting a dude in the NFL and you punch him in the helmet really fucking stupid right
but i can understand where you'd get enraged enough to do that i've never been enraged enough to spit
on someone that's never crossed my mind like that's just nasty shit and i guess that he saw him spit
so he's like well watch this but then like what's going through your mind there where you're like
i'm going to get away with this this is the move just a dipshit right they survived it and they're
want to know who cares but um just a dumb move i don't care who spit first and what
i and i know that that's going to be a talking point philadelphia wip i'd hope that the
people that are on the radio there don't turn it into what was he supposed to do they're just
some people that once they've decided who they're going to defend they throw logic out of the
window and that's everybody on the internet you know it doesn't matter um you know what someone else did
it's their fault no matter what
and they were justified in what the other person
was justified in the response
people are stupid
what are you going to do
but Eagles win
and they're 1-0 and the Cowboys
do what they do which is miss an opportunity
they get to play them at home next
but you're not going to get that many opportunities
like an opportunity twice
four-point game on the road
under 10 to go on the fourth quarter
to put together a drive and go steal
a game that could change your whole out
Look. Winning that game could become a vibe for you. Winning that game could turn you into, that changes your belief. That changes the way your people believe in you. Didn't work out that way. People just view you as the same shit you always are. All right, more to come.
