Starting point is 00:04:52 those shoes. Is anyone paying full price for anything? Stop wondering. Start winning. Winners, find fabulous for less. Speaking of Taylor, I love the kind of anger that Taylor and Travis generate from classic rock type listeners. I enjoy it very much. Now, you know that I hate the Kelsey's, so you might say, Josh, what a hypocrite you are. You get worked up over the Kelsey's. I despise the Kelsey's. Make no mistake about it. I loathe the Kelsey's. the wife, the mom, the two dufous brothers, I despise the Kelsey's. However, I don't really hate Taylor Swift. I'm like, she's weird to me because she's almost in like this Michael Jackson type world
Starting point is 00:05:34 where she's like this Peter Pan character, where everything in her world is like that of like a 14 year old girl, like to the point that it's kind of creepy. Like everything is like magical and enchanting and whimsical. And all of her like fans who are not tweens and shit, by the way, they're like 40 year old women. It's very weird, very strange, whatever. Let them have their whimsy. Let them have their Peter Pan and Count Chocula stuff. Fine with me, right? Like, she's cute girl. Her music used to be, like, I used to really dig her music a lot. But, like, I would say she has arrested development, which is, like, basically she's just stuck in that, the era of, like, she is
Starting point is 00:06:12 stuck in high school. Like, everything about her is just kind of stuck in high school. But anyway, I have nothing against her. She doesn't bother me as much as they do. She's the super popular one. They are the ones that do podcast to try to pander to her fans because that's their audience and fine, whatever, but I don't mind her. I stand by this. Before I read anything else in the story, I still stand by this because it's factual that the NFL would benefit a lot more from Taylor Swift playing halftime than Taylor Swift would benefit from playing halftime. Taylor doesn't need the NFL. Not to say the NFL needs Taylor Swift either. I mean, they're fine on their own. But for the halftime purposes, you would break all-time records
Starting point is 00:06:53 for viewership and you would break all-time records for halftime viewership. Like, that's what I'd like to see. That's what would intrigue me about it. Because I'm not a big believer that Super Bowl ratings vary that much. The most important factor in a Super Bowl is that the game is close. I don't think the team's in it. I don't think that the teams that are in it matter. I don't think that, like, the players matter. I mean, it's the Super Bowl, right? Like, Kansas City is not a large market, but people watch the Chiefs play
Starting point is 00:07:25 because it's the Super Bowl and it's Patrick Mahomes. So, but, like, if you look at the number of people over time who have viewed certain halftime shows, I don't believe that these numbers are changing because someone cares more about another performer. I just think as you go up in years, those numbers go up. The viewership has gone up. Like, Bruno Mars had 115 million people watching this halftime show,
Starting point is 00:07:47 Okay, there were 133.3 million people watching Kendrick Lamar. I don't believe that's because Kendrick Lamar has 20 million more people interested in him than Bruno Mars did. Bruno Mars is a far more, what's the word I'm looking for, a more palatable person or an act to more people. Remember when Bobbo used to come on the show, Bobbo in Chicago? I'm in his house one day and he just starts singing Lucky for You That's What I Like. You know, like my pool warm, all this shit. And, like, dude, Bruno Mars is a very palatable guy to different groups of people. I don't believe that people just didn't watch Bruno Mars, but 20 million more people watched Kendrick Lamar.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I just think the numbers go up because over time the interest goes up and more people to start watching the game. You know, like, look at what happened two years ago. Usher had 123 and a half million viewers. Lady Gaga had 117 and 2017. It just goes up. I don't believe there's anybody that you're going to put on there that's going to run people off. However, I think if you put Taylor Swift in the halftime show, it would break whatever records there are. And it would be such a shattered record, in fact, that you couldn't just use the, well, it's just your typical kind of inflation or your elevated number.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Because, like, let's say she did it next year. Kendrick has 133.5 million. My guarantee is that Taylor would have at least 10 to 15. 20 million more people than that. I don't believe that it's just to, oh, it's, now, I think she's the only person that's capable of doing that, but I believe she's got a huge audience of people that would lock in for the halftime show, and I think it'd be gigantic. The NFL would love that.
Starting point is 00:09:27 The NFL would benefit greatly from that. She wouldn't, because she didn't need it. There's nobody, let's put it this way, there is nobody who could potentially be watching the Super Bowl that doesn't like Taylor Swift, that's going to see Taylor Swift doing, you know, we are never getting back together, like ever, on the Super Bowl halftime show and go, I didn't like this Taylor Swift before, but it's because I didn't know much about her. But now that I've heard sparks fly, I'm a fan. Like, no one's going to do that.
Starting point is 00:09:56 That's not how that's going to work, right? So, like, how does she really, now, might she get some new downloads of her music? Like, there's not a, it's not like there's a net negative for her. I just don't think her playing the halftime show has the same positivity because she's not someone that's a stiff that isn't putting out music that's, you know, music that's not selling. She puts out music and billions of people buy it, you know. So, like, I don't, now, there have been other big acts that play. Cole play is a huge act, and Cole plays play the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Lady Gaga is a huge act, but Taylor Swift playing the Super Bowl mixed with the controversy about Taylor Swift, mixed with her and Travis Kelsey and all that, it would make it the most viewed halftime show, and I would guess the most viewed Super Bowl of all time. And I would assume that most Super Bowls, depending on how close they, the game is, kind of all stay in the same area in terms of total viewership. Let's look at Super Bowl ratings by year. Let's take a look at that. Let's see how it elevates.
Starting point is 00:10:52 I'm just curious on this now. So the millions of people viewing. So let's see, what are we looking at here? What is my number? All right. So in 2023, the Super Bowl had 123 million. million people. The Super Bowl before that, 115, 112.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Most years, it kind of goes up a little bit. There are some that end up closer. Like the Houston Super Bowl with New England and Atlanta, that had 126.3 million people viewing on average, right? But that was also one of the most epic comebacks ever, and it's the Patriots. And there's a lot of factors that played into that. But for the most part, your Super Bowls are all going to go up a little bit year to year. There might be some bigger jumpers with closer games, and then it may fall down just a tad, but there's not a huge discrepancy in the numbers.
Starting point is 00:11:48 The biggest number you're going to see is what the max number of people viewing at a given time were, and that will come down to how close and how interesting the game is. That's the biggest factor in a Super Bowl, is if it's close, what will the peak viewership be, like coming out of the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter? What is your peak viewership? That number, I think, can vary greatly year to year, because if you've got to blow out by the last timeout, you might just go, okay, screw it, I don't care anymore. But if it's a one possession game and the team trailing has the ball, you're going to get more people in. I mean, look at the case and point with that New England Atlanta game, which became an awesome thriller overtime game like that. But back to Taylor, there's no act that's going to light the world on fire other than Taylor. I hear people talk about, oh, we need more rock bands.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Who? Put Metallica up there. Metallica's not palatable enough for mainstream audiences. You can play the shit out of master of puppets and ride the lightning and whatever you want to play in a stadium. And, hey, it's fourth down. Here's inner sandman. Like, you can do all that. They are not a band that is a mass appeal enough band.
Starting point is 00:12:54 I don't believe they are. So you're not going to get that. And, like, I think the foo fighters could be. But all the foo fighters are going to do is get a bunch of young people that want herb. been shit and they're going to bitch about the foo fighters. Essentially, any white act you're going to put on there, social media is going to shit on, right? You put a white person out there, they're going to shit on them. And if you put a black person out there, Facebook's going to shit on them, and they're
Starting point is 00:13:16 going to go, I don't get it. No one's going to make anybody happy. Everybody's just going to bitch, because that's what people do. But let's see here. Goodell says, rumors have been swirling about Taylor Swift. He says it's a maybe. He also noted that they'd always love to have Taylor play. Of course you would. It'd be great for business for you if Taylor played.
Starting point is 00:13:36 But we'll see. Anywho, I've got to get to work now. I've got to do my actual job, but I love you guys.
