The Josh Innes Show - The Eagles Are Cooked
Episode Date: December 9, 2025If the Eagles had a halfway decent offense, they'd be a contender. They don't have a halfway decent offense. They have a bad offense. But, at least AJ Brown had a big game. That said, he also blew ...the game with a few drops. But, people are blowing him because he took accountability. Neat. Learn more about your ad choices. All right, everybody. Welcome in Josh Ennis and all up in us. Real talk. I fell asleep in overtime of the Eagles game last night because I get up at like 4.45 in the morning and I got a little sleepy, sleepy. So I fell asleep after the Chargers took the lead. And Jellie woke me up to let me know that the Eagles lost and how they lost that Jalen Hertz turned the ball over for the fifth time. Boy, that was the ultimate game, wasn't it, though, for the Eagles. You had Jalen Hertz playing like shit. But then if you think about it,
it. The guy made a couple of really big throws, throws that could have changed the game.
Great throws. And the guy that spends all year bitching, the guy that says, oh, I just want to
contribute. Oh, the guy who acts as though contributing in winning games matters, but really all
that matters is getting his numbers and his shine. He was hurt. He was hurt because he dropped
a touchdown. He dropped a couple of big balls in that one. That sounded odd. But he did.
He dropped a couple of big balls in that one. So let's hear from A.J. Brown in a second.
Like, dude, you can't be the guy that bitch is about not getting yours.
And then when the guy puts the ball in your hands multiple times and you drop the ball.
And then at one point, I think he says, you know, dude, the end zone made a play.
Nobody made a play.
You just dropped it, dog.
Like, you lost the game because of A.J. Brown.
So you can tell me about his 100 yards.
I'm sure he's excited about his 100 yards because he's always excited about his 100 yards.
He puts up his numbers.
But in winning time and crunch time, what does it matter?
what does it matter when you make big play after big play in games that don't matter
and then when you could alter the outcome of the game like it's one thing to catch a touchdown
when you're down two scores late in a game at home it's another thing to catch a touchdown when
you can win the game and you don't do it it's another thing when you can set the tone
early in the game on a deep ball and don't make the catch so you can't be that dude
you can't be the dude that bitch is about the offense and says the offense sucks
and i'll play some audio in a second and i know that people are blowing him like people
that like the dude are blowing them because they're saying,
oh, he takes responsibility, whatever.

All right, here is A.J. Brown at his locker after the Eagles took another L,
and their season is slip sliding away. Let's hear from A.J. Brown.
Hey, that won't hurt me. I don't hurt, you know. I'm more than capable of making those plays.
You know, Jaylon trusts me in any situation.
You know, I made some plays, but I won great winning battle, you know, on the one over the middle.
And I can acknowledge, by the way, that you say, hey, I didn't make the plays, wouldn't matter.
But deep down, like, what was he more excited about or what mattered more to him?
Catching a touchdown in the loss or getting 100 yards even though.
Let me try to rephrase that, right?
Like, I don't know that the guy cares that they lost.
I think that the guy cares that he dropped the pass.
Like, I don't know that he cares that catching the ball would have won the game for them.
Catching the ball just would have added to his statistics and given him another touchdown.
I don't think he's hurt about the drop because it hurt the team.
I think he cares about the drop because it hurt him.
I don't believe anything this guy says.
I think the guy's completely full of shit.
And I thought he was full of shit when he was in Tennessee.
And I think he's full of shit.
Now, I said that when I was in Tennessee.
because I experienced the guy.
I was part of the experience, part of the A.J. Brown experience.
I never heard the guy talk and thought that this guy gives a shit if the team wins or loses.
The only thing I've ever thought about A.J. Brown is that A.J. Brown cares about A.J. Brown's numbers.
Now, would he prefer to win over lose? Sure. I mean, who wouldn't?
But I don't believe that he truly gives a shit if the team wins or loses as long as he gets his.
So that drop hurt him more because it was his numbers that were impacted, not
necessarily the law. So I'm not going to sit there and blow this guy and say, hey, great
job taking accountability. The quarterback takes accountability every day. Everybody takes
accountability every day. I've never heard a dude drop passes and go, well, everybody
else suck but me today. So like I'm not going to blow A.J. Brown because he says the shit
that everybody says. There was a guy bearing down on you. Did you sense that? I was just going
be another tough one, you know? I'm more than capable
to make that grab for him. Like, Jayon was
he stepped up in the pocket, you know,
he under pressure, you know, so like I said,
I'm more than capable of making that one for it, man.
I don't hurt, but.
Yeah. So, like, it's just funny how
a dude spends his entire time talking
shit, being the big guy that everybody runs
to defend because he talks shit and he
tells the truth and he keeps it 100
and all this shit. And then
what ends up happening at the end of it? What
happens at the end of it is the dude
drops a couple of big passes, then has to say, hey, that's on me, and then everybody wants
me to blow the guy for saying that it's on me? That's what you do in those situations.
When you drop a pass, you say, it's on me. So I'm not going to give someone credit for doing
something obvious, especially when other people do this all the time. And what do you hear from
people? Oh, I don't care that it was on you. Make the play. Well, I'll say the same thing for
AJ Brown, who somehow is like the face of like this battle between different types of fans.
and he's the battle between like two groups of fan bases here
and he's got his hardcore group of people that love him
and will defend him no matter what
and like they'll tell you, boy, he took accountability.
Who cares?
You dropped a couple of huge passes, one of which was in the end zone
that a dude did not make a play.
You just flat and dropped it.
The confidence and the trust we come together.
And that's what matters in.
And that starts in the week.
That starts each and every day.
You know, we're looking at the film and correcting and trying to get better.
Yeah, I don't really see that either because you're not.
So I guess I don't know how much film you have to watch to get better, but your offense sucks.
But hey, at least Saquan Barkley got off the milk carton last night, so there's that.
But other than that, explain to me what you're doing when you watch this film.
Like when you guys get together and watch film, what are you doing?
Because your offense is still dreadful.
Your defense is still fantastic.
Your offense is dreadful.
It reminds me of watching, like, LSU or really watching the Texans.
although I think the Texans defense is probably better, but it's like watching that.
You watch a defense that if a team had a half decent offense, they might be undefeated.
It's weird to say that about the Texans who started out 0 and 3, but if the Texans' offense was half decent,
if the Texans' offense was, I don't know, if you put the Chargers offense in the Texans,
or at least the capability that the Chargers offense has in the Texans, they would probably be the Super Bowl favorite.
Or at least I think they could play with the Rams.
And I think that's the same way I would look at the Eagles.
And yes, the Eagles rallied in, like, miraculous fashion to beat the Rams.
The Eagles ain't close to the Rams.
And yeah, maybe there's the outside shot that Jalen hurts when they get in.
They're going to get a home playoff game because the Cowboys aren't going to catch them.
So they're going to get a home playoff game.
Where do the Lions or the Eagles rather stand right now?
I mean, obviously they're in the playoffs and there's no way they're not going to make the playoffs unless they totally fall off a cliff.
They don't have to play the Cowboys anymore, so there's that.
Now, the Cowboys do have that tie, which does.
kind of throw a wrench into it, but it would be almost impossible for the Eagles to blow this division.
Now, if the Cowboys would have beaten the Lions the other day, that's a different story.
Obviously, they didn't.
But you start looking at the Eagles schedule, and they've got two games against the commanders who don't have a quarterback,
and they have the Bills, and they have the Raiders.
The Bills, I don't think, are very good, but they'll probably beat the Eagles in Buffalo,
and then the Eagles will probably win the other three games, and they'll finish the season with,
what would that give them, 11 wins?
they'll finish 11 and 6, they'll win the division, and that's that.
So I'm not concerned about them winning the division.
I just don't think they're any good.
I think their defense is great.
I think their offense is a mess, and it's obvious their offense is a mess.
So as it stands now, they're the three.
So if the one seed got the buy, that's the Rams.
So the two would play the seven.
The three would play, let's see, the two would play, what, the seven.
The six would play the three, and the four would play the five.
So the Eagles would play San Francisco.
if the season ended today. Now, I don't know that San Francisco is going to be there at the end.
They may because there's basically three teams fighting for two spots.
So that's the other kind of interesting thing with the Lions and where they stand in the postseason right now, if you're intrigued, is San Francisco is, San Francisco, and the Lions play the Bears as well.
So really, if you're the Lions, your hope is that the Bears lose to both San Francisco and lose to you, and that gets you in.
So, again, I'm not trying to go into a lion's mode here,
but I'm just trying to look at who the Eagles are going to play
and who the Eagles would match up with.
There's a chance, and Tampa really did themselves no favors,
losing to the fucking sains.
But there is a real chance here that if Tampa would have won,
they'd be right there with the Eagles,
and then the Eagles could fall to the four.
And if you fall to the four, then you're playing Seattle at this point.
Now, I think that could all change.
Maybe San Francisco jumps up over Seattle.
I don't see a scenario where the Rams don't win.
But think about being the Rams.
The Rams are in a situation where you could, like,
you're either going to go from the number one seed in the NFC and winning the West
to being all the way down to the five seed, possibly the six.
So who knows?
But I think the Rams are going to win this weekend and they're going to hold on to the number one spot.
I think the Rams are far and away the best team in the NFC,
and I think they're far and away the best team in the NFL.
And as we said yesterday, I would take Rams over the field any day.
But then you look at the Eagles.
Does anybody believe that they're shitty off it?
Like, it's not going to get going.
There's a month left in the season.
So in what universe, in what world, do you watch the Eagles play and tell yourself,
yeah, they're eventually going to get it solved?
Like, usually it's you have a bad month, but then in the middle of the season, you find it.
They have not found it.
They are terrible.
Whether it's offensive coordinator, whether it's quarterback play, whether Sequin's cooked,
whether A.J. Brown's a diva, whatever it is.
It's a combination of all of them.
The Eagles offense sucks.
There is no getting better.
There is no, wait, they're going to turn a corner.
There is no corner to turn.
It is over for their offense.
Now, can they have games and can they have moments where their offense shines?
I mean, look at last night.
Their offense, for as bad as it is, they turn the ball over five fucking times.
Guess what?
For as bad as their offense is, their offense still was in position to win the game.
Great deep ball early in the game that's dropped.
touchdown that's dropped.
So as bad as their offense is,
and this is what's wild about the Eagles,
and this is why I refuse to write them off
for winning a playoff game.
I do not buy them as a Super Bowl team.
I don't buy this as some miracle run.
This isn't going to be anything like that.
The Eagles offense blows.
They cannot win the Super Bowl.
The Eagles cannot win the Super Bowl.
But if you give me Eagles and San Francisco in a playoff game,
do I believe that Jalen Hertz and the defense can beat Brock Purdy?
Sure.
Why not?
Do I believe that Jalen Hertz and the defense can beat the Bears in their first playoff game?
Absolutely.
So I think that's the ceiling for the Eagles because their offense is just too fucking bad and it's not going to get better.
I don't see, I've never seen a world where an offense has sucked for 14 weeks and then just got good.
This is who you are.
If this is who you are out of 14 weeks and 12, 13 of them have been dreadful offensively, this is just who you.
you are. So your defense has to carry you and you see what happens. But the Eagles will not
win the Super Bowl. It is over. There is no repeat. There is none of that. It is over.
But I would put them up and say they played the Lions. It's amazing. They've already beaten the
lions. So if they play the Lions in the playoffs at home, do I believe that the Lions with their
shoddy defense and bad offensive line will go up to Philadelphia and beat them? No.
That's what's interesting about the Eagles. It's the same thing that's interesting about Jalen
Hurts that we talked about last week. Jalen Hurts sucks, but the guy just wins.
And that's kind of the Eagles. Their offense sucks, but once they get into the playoffs,
the matchups would dictate that I believe that they would win a playoff game.
There isn't a matchup that I would look at them, maybe like a Seattle who can score some points,
but guess what would happen? Let's say they played Seattle in the playoffs, at home.
They would force Sam Darnold into three interceptions, and they would win the game that way.
They'd win that game like 17 to 8 or something like that.
Sam Darnal would throw four picks.
They beat the Lions at home.
They would beat Tampa.
They're not going to have to play Tampa, but if some miracle happened and well, Tampa's not going to make a either win the division or they're not, so they're not going to make the playoffs.
Otherwise, Tampa's out.
Do you believe that Brock Purdy would go up to Philadelphia and beat them in a playoff game against the defense?
I don't think so.
So I think that's your ceiling because the offense is just that freaking bad.
It's awful.
It's unwatchable.
They suck.
And it's not getting better.
There is no elixir.
There is no fixing it.
It sucks.
And even when the quarterback makes the right plays and makes the right throws,
the diva receiver who never shuts the fuck up about getting the ball drops a couple of big balls that cost you the game.
That's just who they are.
They are broken.
Anyway, more to come.
