I think you have to be careful about how quickly you react to things, especially touchy things.
Like, it's one thing if you're doing a sports show and you hear some sort of wacky story about,
if you hear the story about how Bill Belichick and the whole program at UNC is melting down and they're going to,
they're discussing buyout shit.
Like, I don't really think that's an area that you have to tread lightly or delicately,
because at the end of the day, you're just talking about a football coach and a football team,
and it's nothing personal, really.
It's not some sort of huge, you know, a police-involved story or a,
a crime or woman beating or anything like that.
I think once you start getting into more delicate subjects, and I know it's hard because
you've got to have an opinion on everything in the world, sometimes you have to tread lightly
and be a little bit more willing to bite your tongue on certain things, right?
And if not, you end up having to backtrack.
And we saw something like that with this Kyron Lacey story from LSU, the guy that was accused
of being involved in this accident that killed some boy.
and then eventually killed himself.
Let's take a commercial pause here, and we will continue.
So that was months ago that that story came down.
Then I guess last week, two weeks ago, there was a new piece of video evidence that was put out by the attorney of Kyrin Lacey, which also important to note,
anytime an attorney is putting something out, it's obviously something that he's been able to see that he thinks can help his client or his client's family look better.
right like you have to take that with a grain assault when an attorney shows you something well that's
his job to do that he is the attorney but anyway so the initial report was that this guy was driving
erratically and he caused this crash that killed this old guy and it sent his life into a downward
spiral where he eventually killed himself well last week i guess it was there was a story that came
out or maybe a week and a half ago story came out with new video that shows that the louisiana
police officers were like coercing witnesses or whatever and this video
showed that he was like 20, 200 feet behind the crash scene.
He couldn't have caused it and blah, blah, blah, right?
So that leads everybody in the world the second they saw that video to rush to come out
and say that cops are bad, that everybody's terrible, and you get Ryan Clark with one of
his typical diatribes on television, one of these powerful Ryan Clark moments, which he's
eventually going to have to apologize for now, because there's another video that's come out
that kind of shows that the guy was responsible for this.
And there were witnesses who were actually there, not Ryan fucking Clark, but witnesses that were actually there that are like, yeah.
And this was, by the way, not after the fact.
This is while this whole thing was going on, police body cam footage showing these people going, the green charger caused this wreck.
And the cops like the green charger.
Like, yeah, there was a green charger and it caused the wreck.
All right, we need to find a green charger.
This guy was driving erratically and going well over the speed limit, driving on the wrong side of the road, caused this crash.
so Ryan Clark goes on TV before this piece of information is known
and it's like he was dying to get on TV and tell this story
so he can tell this great emotional story that will help get him a bunch of web hits
and drive up the listenership on his podcast
so he can do his little powerful thing where he looks like he's on the verge of tears
Ryan Clark is the weirdest fucking dude on the planet
like he's like a guy that like wants to be in the media world
but like doesn't know how to do it
and like doesn't like I don't think he understands
understands that when he says shit, people hear it.
And, like, because this guy spends more time apologizing for dumb shit that he says.
Like, he is just not likable.
But anyway, so on Monday night football, based on the evidence that we had last week, it was
everybody's coming out saying that this guy was railroaded and we want justice for
Kyrin Lacey.
Like Pat McAfee did this, all these people.
So then yesterday, this new video comes out from the police, and the police are standing
Pat on this.
Like, usually if the police are caught doing something shitty, you'll get the police
saying, hey, listen, we got this guy suspended, we've seen the backlash, we've seen the video,
and this is not acceptable. They're like, no, we did our fucking job. Look at this video.
And there's video where you can see like a security cam video of this green charger, like
weaving in and out of traffic and passing cars in a non-passing lane and going really
fucking fast and whatever. And then you see the cops talking to people on the scene of this
accident. And these people are all like, there was a green charger that caused the
accident. The video is not of the cops going, hey, can you say that the green charger caused
the accident? Because, like, your first question asked to be, why? Like, if you think that
Kyron Lacey was set up by the police in this instance, why? What, they didn't know it was
Kyron Lacey, right? They didn't know it was him. When they show up on the scene, they don't
know that LSU football players soon to be high draft pick Kyron Lacey is the guy driving in and out
of traffic and causing a wreck. They just know that a guy in a green charger caused a wrecked, and they
know that there's an erect car there. They know that there's someone that's someone that's
on the verge of death, and they know that there are people there in the video who are saying
a green charger caused this.
So, of course, that video's out now.
And now Pat McAfee has to go on his show and be like, hey, listen, I rushed to conclusions
again.
Pat McAfee also spends a lot of fucking time apologizing for rushing to conclusions on shit.
As much as I like the guy, in your desperation, to talk about everything in the moment
instead of just letting shit breathe.
And I'm talking shit that's like real issues.
Dudes dying.
I'm not talking about coaches getting fired.
I'm not talking about Aaron Rogers sleeping in a hyperbaric fucking chamber.
I'm not talking about any of that in ayahuasca.
I'm not talking about any of that shit.
I'm talking about real actual stuff.
You're so quick to rush to it and then you're forced to apologize because you're wrong again.
And that's what all these guys do.
You spend more time because you're so desperate to be, and I get it to an extent.
You want to be out there.
You want to be talking about the things that people are talking about.
That's the hottest story in the world.
And for all the shit that I think Pat McAfee does well,
it would actually benefit him to have someone who knows what the fuck they're doing in the media world sometimes.
It wouldn't be bad to have someone there who's kind of like a, what's the word I'm looking for?
Someone who's like a go-between where you could be like, hey, do you think I should run with this?
And they're like, no, probably not.
But he doesn't have that.
He's got a bunch of slap dick buddies of his that sit there and fucking wash his balls.
And I like these guys.
I have nothing against them.
But it wouldn't hurt you to just have someone there who's just kind of like,
hey, I've been doing this for 30 years.
I probably wouldn't run with this right now because we're not sure about what direction the story is going.
So let's not do this.
But he doesn't have that seemingly.
It's just him and his buddies.
And they're probably high off their fucking.
asses on the air and they're just doing
what they're doing. And look, it's been very successful.
I'm not anti-Pat McAvey. I like
Pat McAvey. I think the hate the guy
gets as funny. But when
every other week it feels like you're apologizing
for something, then maybe you're not doing
something right here, pal.
When you're having to come out and say, hey, we were wrong
as it turns out now there's new video
where like we were kind of shitting on the cops
before for the way they handled it. But now this new
video, like maybe wait until you've
seen everything before you as someone
Like some asshole on social media
Can do whatever they want
And you know that I'm not some big believer
And oh, you have to be super responsible
And everything you do
But you are on fucking ESPN
And you're not on just your little podcast anymore
You're on a big outlet
So you can't just run out there
And like the first time you see a video
Well, it looks like the cops fuck this guy
And then the next week
Oh looks like we were wrong
The cops didn't fuck this guy
Because you were probably the same people
That like to bitch about how the media handles things
And how the media handles stories
You are the media
You're on ESPN, Bob
sorry you are you're not some rogue renegade guy anymore you chose the money and the path of
being on ESPN you chose game day you chose all that and I'm not judging you dude rock on
but you're not the little engine that could you're not the little guy with the little YouTube
show you're on ESPN so when you're doing the same shit that Ryan Clark is doing you can't
sit there and be the guy who judges the way media does shit when you are the media and
you're doing the same shit they're doing.
That's my problem with that.
So, of course, he rushed to, again, I don't know what the truth is in any of this.
That's why, like, I avoid talking about this story, because I don't know.
And what am I supposed to talk about?
Oh, do crooked fucking cops?
Like, I don't know.
I never really had an opinion on this.
Because I struggle with these things because I don't know what the truth is.
A lot of stories.
None of us do.
We don't know the truth.
So we can speculate and we can talk about how we feel about it.
We can say I speculate here, I speculate this, and we can do that, and that's all well and good.
But I don't know, and I struggle when a lawyer puts out a video to believe that that's the whole story.
Like, hey, a guy who represents the family of this dude, do I really believe that that's the definitive point in this?
Do we really believe that a lawyer is the guy that has this?
So I was skeptical anyway, but of course the internet goes with it and it becomes a whole race thing and cops are dirty, and how can black people trust cops?
And now that they've made up their mind about that, they don't care that the cops have now come out.
and showed this video. These people, the same people that were like, ha, fuck the police,
those people won't even watch the new video. They probably don't even know the new video
exists because they don't care. They've already made up their mind. People are not looking
for the truth. People are looking for whatever information they can find that will sell their
point and will confirm their belief. They're looking for confirmation of their own beliefs.
They don't care about the truth. Same people that are out there like Jonathan Gannon's a piece
of shit. I guarantee you all those people
to think Jonathan Gannon's had a piece of shit.
If they played sports at any point in their life, had a coach
ripped them a new one and maybe get in their
fucking face. It doesn't make it
right, no. But they're acting like what we
saw from Jonathan Gannon is the most vile thing
we've ever seen. It's two grown men.
They got into a fucking argument and a guy shoved another
guy. Big fucking deal. Who
cares? But these guys are all talking
like it's the biggest thing ever. These would also be the first
people in the world to tell you're a pussy and that you're soft.
But like, oh, since Jonathan Gannon
the coach did it. Oh, well, we got it.
I'm offended by this.
Because nobody cares about truth or reality.
People care about confirming and validating their own beliefs.
That's how people operate.
So as much as I like Pat McAfee and I do and I respect the shit out of him,
like at some point, dude, like when you're apologizing every other week
because you just ran with something and now you're like, oops.
Like maybe pump the brakes on occasion.
Maybe, possibly.
Just a thought.
A little thought there, Pat.
And then I'm sure that Ryan Clark's going to do some really deep, important fucking podcast where he films it in like the very, the cinematic camera angles.
And he's like staring down and like has his hands and prayer hands.
Maybe he's going to be holding the cross.
I don't know.
He's going to be holding the crucifix.
I, there are very few people who I fucking hate in a media sense.
I hate Ryan Clark.
Don't know him on a personal level.
Maybe he's a good dad, all that shit.
But from a media standpoint, I hate him because I think he's a talent.
relentless fuck face and he's just writing this world of outrage and emotion and like I
fucking despise me at least Stephen A Smith has a gimmick like I like Stephen A because
he might say dumb shit but hey he's a big character this guy just comes out says a bunch
of shit that apologizes for the shit he says oh I despise him but anyway more to come
