The Josh Innes Show - The Online Rage Machine
Episode Date: August 14, 2025Later today I'm going to be interviewing Ted Nugent. I actually dig him and I really admire how he can say whatever the hell he wants. Apparently, he's very controversial in Detroit. So my boss ant...icipates the Facebook to be red hot. Our radio station Facebook page was not a fan of a Jimmy Kimmel post. So this afternoon, or I guess that later this morning, I'm going to be doing an interview with Ted Nugent.
Not in person. It's going to be on the phone. I've never talked with Ted Nugent before.
But he's got his big 7,000th career concert coming up.
It's if anybody could know that. That's the other thing I find interesting is I've played 7,000 shows in my life.
I feel like that's probably like the Goldberg streak. You just kind of make up a number and go. You kind of estimate here.
you're like yeah you know what i've been playing for 50 years and i play x number of shows a year
let's just assume this is number 7 000 that sounds good but i have no clue if he's actually
played 7000 shows or not i guess i can take his word for it but i'm interviewing ted nugent later
and i'm talking to my boss and he's like so here's the thing though
because i'm assuming that ted nugin is like like slam dunk home run like detroit the motor city madman
the nudge and it's like you know ted is a very divisive figure i'm like i guess i guess that could
be the case let me play a couple commercials and let's talk about this so apparently and i just
this never crossed my mind because all i could think is ted nougent detroit and all that and
same with like kid rock i know that they're very right leaning they're very pro trump which is
already going to be something that's divisive on its own. But apparently, like, I'm going to test this
out. I'm going to post this in a little bit on the station Facebook and just let people know that
Ted Nugent's going to be on the show tomorrow and see the reaction. And what's going to end up
happening is it will probably have the most interaction of anything on our station's Facebook page.
And what it's going to be is people are going to say, oh, are you trying to lose listeners?
and then, like, other people will jump in and start calling people snowflakes and gay slurs and stuff,
and it's just going to be a back and forth.
I'm at this actually, let me, I'm just going to post that right now and let it start growing some legs.
Let's go to Facebook.
I'll go to the station's Facebook page.
Like, it's funny, and I know that this is going to be the case because, like, a lot of our stuff auto posts.
Wait, is this the anniversary of the day that Eddie Money died?
Oh, no, I don't know if this is the day.
died or not. That's a different thing for a different time. I hate Facebook. The only reason I had to
start a Facebook page is because I have to have access to our radio stations Facebook page.
And I'm not going to tell you just the fake name I use to create an account. Like, I don't even
have a real page. There's a page that allows me to become, you know, a member or a monitor or whatever
of the WLLZ page. So just to give you an example of what you're going to be dealing with on
these classic rock things. And what's hysterical is a lot of these radio stations just are
asleep at the switch as it relates to the, like, the stuff that auto generates and auto posts
on these station websites. So some of these classic rock stations will post like seven or eight
Taylor Swift stories in a row because they're just auto posted. And all the comments are like,
what the fuck is this shit? Like yesterday, I mentioned Taylor Swift for two seconds to start the show
about how there was this big thing dropping tomorrow, you know, tonight, whatever. And I got people
sending me. I don't get text messages on the station. And that's why I ask you to text. Text the
Josh and your message to 59570 or call whatever I'm down for that because right now we're
trying to build an audience there ain't a lot of people calling and texting so feel free but
I never get texts and I get a text that's like turn this stop talking about this shit I come
here for rock and roll not about Taylor Swift I'm like shit that was quick but just to give you
kind of an example so most stories that auto post on the station site get one or two comments
A couple of likes, whatever.
Yesterday, 15 hours ago, story, Jimmy Kimmel finally reveals the secret to his continued success.
Well, first off, we all know that it's because he does what he does on television and panders to these left-wing people.
And he's basically a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party, duh.
But also, this story gets 10 reactions, most of which are negative, and 25 comments.
and the majority of the comments that are made on this
are that like I'm never listening to this station again because you've all gone woke
like so when bosses tell you like going political could be the death of you
they're not wrong like I'm reading these comments
he's a man baby one liberal media shithead is cancelled and hopefully this one will be too
uh listen to 55 year old hVAC technicians who lose their breath going down the stairs
and stick to 55-year-old rock songs or they'll cry.
I actually kind of agree with that guy.
Let's see, what a bunch of shit.
W-L-L-Z, are you looking to lose listeners?
So you need to tell me you'd stop listening to Wheels,
assuming you'd listen to the station.
You would stop listening because the station's Facebook page
posted a story about Jimmy Kimmel.
He's such a douchebag.
I agree.
106.7 WLZ is losing listening.
over woke bullshit. Great job execs. What, like, what woke bullshit is this? Like,
that just shows you how broken and honest, like, again, and for whatever reason, I find myself
transitioning more and more to being down the middle on shit and just hating everybody. Like,
there was that stretch in about 2020 during the Rona that I could see where you think I'm
some hardcore right wing guy because I was very fucking angry and I fucking hated Biden and I hated
these liberal fucking people. I did, okay? And now I've kind of gravitated more towards the middle
ground because that's just where we are. But like, it's wild to me that there are people that
see this story and it just becomes you're losing listeners over woke bullshit. Now what's going to
happen is I'm going to post a screenshot that's going to show Ted Nugent. It's going to say
Ted Nugent joins the Josh Innes show at 710 on Friday. And then you're going to see the other
group of people bitching. Like people are fucking nuts.
let's see he's a mentally ill piece of fucking shit hack about like the road you fuckers are traveling w lLZ like it's fucking crazy like these be these none of these stories get comments you put jimmy kimmel up there and it's like whoa it's on there's a story teacher of the year so thank you by like the w lLZ thank a teacher 2025 voyager elementary school macaela dote teacher of the year
Two likes. No comments. Picture of Jimmy Kimmel.
Fuck you, you liberals. I'm listening to something else. You're losing listeners.
So now let's do this. Here's what I'm going to do.
Look, I'm going to promote that. We're going to have Ted Nugent on the show.
Like, I like Ted Nugent. I'm fascinated by Ted Nugent. I know nothing about hunting, but when I listen to Ted Nugent talk about hunting, I'm fascinated by.
heard him on the Rogan podcast talking about hunting one day and the way he breaks it down and talks about it so eloquently and has the knowledge of it is fucking cool to me like i don't know much about it but when i'm listening to the nudge tell stories about dudes in texas and helicopters just shooting fucking pigs from like the sky i'm like that's cool
so let me do this i'm going to go i'm going to put a little thing up here i'm going to make that let's make that red let's see ted nude
joins the Josh Ennis show Friday morning at, we'll just say, 705, at 7.05, at 7.05 on joins the Josh
Ennis show, Friday morning at 7.05. Tune in.
Ted Nugent joins the Josh Innes show Friday morning at 7.05.
Let me put just, because of me, who knows if they know what station they're listening to?
Ted Nugent joins the Josh Ennis show Friday morning.
Tune in.
All right, we're just going to leave it at that, all right?
All right.
Joins the Josh Inish show Friday morning at 705.
tune in to hear the tune in
tune in to hear Josh
and Uncle Ted
all right we're going to post that
they call him Uncle Ted right
Uncle Ted Nugent
that's a thing right I'm not off on that
people call it's one of his nicknames I think yeah Uncle Ted
Uncle Ted the Nuge and the Motor City Madman
I'm just making sure I don't want to sound
like I'm not hip to the local lingo.
Let's see here.
And then we're going to post that and we're just going to wait and just see, you know, it's
5.30 in the morning here, so I guess we'll have to see.
But we'll see how people react to that.
That will get a ton of reactions just to make sure.
Also, you guys can go follow the Facebook page as well.
It's Detroit's Wheels.
We're trying to build something here.
But we'll see what the reaction ends up being to that.
But I was talking with my boss about it and he's like, you know, if you start diving too
far into politics. You're going to lose people. And I'm kind of in that camp as well. But it's weird to me
because I don't view myself as a super political person. I am a person that talks about certain things
I can understand where they'd be considered political or people might think they're political.
But I don't fall in line with one camp. But the problem is you have one opinion on one thing,
and that's the only thing people ever hear from you, they just label you as part of that group.
So half the people are going to think you're a hero and half the people are going to think
you're a piece of shit. If I get on the radio today, and I probably will because I'm by
myself today and we'll see well i'm gonna see what i can do to get a reaction out of people like
what will get people to start calling this radio station what topic can i bring up that someone will be
like holy shit i have to call and argue with this guy because as of right now the only thing
people call about is to win free shit and it depends on the free shit because some of the free
shit i give away they don't even call for that so but if i got on the air today and i brought up you
know dude cheerleaders and i'm like like stop fucking whining about dude cheerleaders maybe people
would call. I don't know. If, you know, Ted Nugent's on the year, there'll be half the people
to think he's a piece of shit. Something that happened with him about a month ago was he was going to
like the state capital or something like that to talk about certain hunting things or the federal
building, something like that. And he had a gun on him. Like he was just carrying a gun. And he
somehow made it through. And no one was able to find this gun, even though you're not supposed to bring
guns. It's banned. They're banned in their guns are. And then after the fact, they found out
that he had a gun. And every story was, Ted Nugent brings gun into building despite knowing that
there's a ban. And I'm like, that shouldn't be your story. Your story should be that your security
people couldn't find this gun and they just let him walk in should be the story.
But I'm looking forward to that conversation because I find Ted Nugent to be an interesting person.
I admire people who can come out and say whatever the fuck they want and have no repercutting.
There's nothing he's going to lose. There's no money Ted Nugent is going to lose. He's going to put people in the seats at all of his shows.
He, like, it's not like there's a record label. He has to worry about pissing off. He can just go out. There's, there is something so fucking cool about being to go out and say whatever you want. And we all say we can say whatever we want. And we all go out and say like, I say what's on my mind. Most of us don't really fully say what's on our mind because there is the fear. Like, you can get fired. You could lose your.
job. And as someone who was out of a job a month, there are those fears that you have.
Like, I tell you what I honestly think of shit, but like, like, I don't have the freedom
to say what the fuck is on my mind like a Ted Nugent does. Like Kid Rock has no worries in life.
Guys got a ton of money. He's not worried about selling albums anymore. He doesn't have to
play Kate a record label. He could just go out and say and do whatever the fuck he wants.
That's badass. That's freedom. Like guys like Ted Nugent, guys like Kid Ruggian. Guys like Kid
Rock. And I bring them up and you'll say, well, Josh, that's your right-wing guys. Yeah, because
I feel like right-wing guys still, with their viewpoints are the ones that are going to be the
most ostracized. Like, Bruce Springsteen's not going to lose people buying tickets because he comes
out and says some progressive shit and it's not going to cost him a record deal or whatever.
Like, you come out and you support right-wing shit, there's a chance you're losing record deals.
So those guys don't have record deals to lose, but there's a giant risk in doing that.
And they can come out and say whatever the fuck they want.
It doesn't mean they're right about everything they say, but it's fucking cool that they can do it.
I admire that.
I respect that.
It'd be nice if we can get to a point where people can think that way again, where you don't lose your livelihood and lose everything because you have different viewpoints politically.
But I will be interviewing Ted Nugent.
I will post that also on the Detroit's Wheels podcast page.
So, and if you want to follow that radio show's podcast, we're still looking for a crew.
If you're someone that's in radio that would be willing to move to Detroit to work with me, it's a part-time gig, but I think the part-time money isn't bad.
Like, it's pretty good part-time money.
You'd probably need to find another job in town.
But if you're somebody that wants to come work with me, have at it, apply for the job.
But also go subscribe to the Detroit's Wheels, Josh In a show podcast on Apple or wherever you get podcast.
Anyway, more to come.
