The Josh Innes Show - Trump Says He Wants Fewer Federal Holidays...On Juneteenth

Episode Date: June 20, 2025

Donald Trump let everyone know that he thinks we need fewer holidays. Of course, he said this on Juneteenth. This leads me down a path of discussing a dude who used to listen to the podcast but to...ld me he stopped because I'm an "Israeli Cuck". Now, I have no idea what this means. I have no idea how any of the things I discuss would lead this man to this conclusion. I'm always sort of amazed by the beliefs of many who listen to the podcast. Also, some person in Atlanta was not happy about the lack of creativity shown by Kroger as it relates to their Juneteenth cakes. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Let's see what we got cooking here. Headline reads Donald Trump knocks quote non working federal holidays as nation celebrates Juneteenth.
Starting point is 00:01:58 President Donald Trump had his staff working on Juneteenth and suggested on social media that the rest of America should have been working too. Trump in a post on Truth Social opined that there are quote, too many non working holidays in America. He said they were harming the nation's economy quote, it is costing our country billions of dollars to keep all of these businesses closed. The workers don't want it either. So we'll end up having a holiday for everyone's for everyone working or every one working day off the year.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Hold on, let me reread that. Because I think there was something wrong he said and then I said something wrong in there as well. Let me read that again. The workers don't want it either soon we'll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. Okay, whatever that means. The president did not specifically name the Juneteenth holiday as the one he thought businesses should not observe with time off for their employees, but he sent that message as many companies and much of the federal government was closed for the Juneteenth holiday. The White House was an exception. Here's my problem
Starting point is 00:03:03 with Trump, right? I mean, I have plenty of problems with Trump, just like I have plenty of problems with most politicians. Oh, she's not a politician. You've been the president fucking twice. You're a politician. Shut the fuck up. Okay. There's that. The guy knows what he's doing. And like, I hate to use the idea of like code, right? Like speaking in code. Like, that guy called the black guy a thug, that's code. Like I hate when people do that kind of shit.
Starting point is 00:03:32 But it's like you try to create this world and look, the media is already against you, mind you, right? Like if you're Trump, the media already hates you, you already hate them. They will do you no favors. They will take whatever you do and they will turn it into something super bad no matter what it is. That's why I don't trust the media because these two sides have such a hatred for each other Trump and the media that
Starting point is 00:03:55 I cannot believe anything. They write about him is not completely doused in hatred for the guy. Therefore. I can't take it seriously and maybe he just did a very good job of planting that seed. And that's why I feel that way. But I do not believe anything like while I think there could be truth in what they're saying. I also know that it is completely biased in everything
Starting point is 00:04:16 that they are saying about the guy. Therefore, I cannot take it super seriously, or at least I just ignore it if that makes sense. So going into this, you already know they hate you, and he probably doesn't give a shit, and that's fine. I think he cares, but I don't think that's not gonna stop him from doing the shit he does because some people in the media hate him. Here's one of the things, though. First of all, let me play a couple commercials,

I'm not trying to have a super hyper political discussion here because real talk, I'm not a smart political person.
Starting point is 00:05:16 I don't know about different laws and shit like that. It's just shit that doesn't interest me. I like to live my life. If it's something that impacts my life, I will talk about it. If it's a social thing, I'll talk about it. If it's a social thing, I'll talk about it. Because I feel like I can speak on social things because it's not policies and different shit like that. Like, there was a pod I did a couple weeks ago, and
Starting point is 00:05:35 some guys said he stopped listening to the podcast, because I'm a I am an Israeli cuck. And I have no idea what I've said in any of these podcasts about Israel or Palestine, or I don't know what any of that shit is. And I do not care. I am like most humans in this in America. I don't know. And I don't care. I don't it's whatever, right? So this guy, and I don't know why this guy listened to me before. I don't know if he listened to me because he was like a white nationalist.
Starting point is 00:06:07 That's what weirds me out is when I like and you can't help who listens to you and who consumes what you do. But it's very strange to me when I see people that like me or follow me and then say they listen to the podcast, then I look at their Twitter and I'll see the different shit that they like and retweet and I'm like, is that the message I'm giving off? Like why do they like me? Like it like because you'll see shit that and this is more so how it goes and I'm not judging right wing left wing people because I think most people are just normal people. They might lean slightly right or lean slightly left. Most people are
Starting point is 00:06:43 not the extreme right or left. We've had that discussion many times. So I'm talking about extreme in this case, like I'll see people and their shit is extreme. Like, like, like talk radio, Eric Bogosian, sending, you know, people sending you swastikas and dead rats to the to the radio station, the like a Zog type shit. And I'm like, why did you like me? Like, am I giving off some sort of like white nationalist racist vibe? Because if that's what I'm doing, it's certainly not what I
Starting point is 00:07:18 want to do. Now, there are certain times you say things that you know are things that one side will disagree with, but you believe in them. And you know that those people might just be lunatics. And they're going to take everything you say is super racist anyway. Like when I was at 790, that was kind of at the outset of the the shit with Colin Kaepernick and taking a knee for the anthem. And we would make fun of that a lot. And we would get a lot of
Starting point is 00:07:42 people that would reach out to us and they would tell us that we're pieces of garbage, and that we're racist. And by the way, in that era, there were a lot of black folks who used to think I was great the first time I was in Houston from 09 to 13, who when I came back from 16 to 20, thought that I was the biggest piece of shit on the planet, like the world shifted, like sometime between the end of 2013. And when I got back in 2016, Kaepernick and Mike Brown and and hands up, don't shoot all that shit became the thing. So if you
Starting point is 00:08:14 made fun of anything like that, you were then the enemy and considered super bigoted and super terrible. And like I used to be in my from what I saw, a lot of black dudes used to like what I did on the air. But if you go back to what I was doing at 610, the big stories of that era were not racially charged stories, right? They were Tim Tebow, which in and of itself is a racial and and religious story. But I would make fun of Tebow endlessly, right? That's easy. Of course, left wing people are going to
Starting point is 00:08:42 like in minorities are going to like you when you're making fun of the white religious dude, right? Like that's who you're making fun of. During that time was Michael Vick shit and I can't believe this was ever my viewpoint now that I've had two dogs but there was and I remember this vividly. We're on the air talking about Mike Vick and I don't know what exact year that all went down or when he got back into the league. So 2011, 2010, that's when Andy Reid was still with the Eagles because they brought him back. The big controversy about Mike Vick was like, should he get another opportunity and everything? And my viewpoint on the air, and I remember this vividly because of some of the people
Starting point is 00:09:18 who responded to it, was like, at the end of the day, the guy killed fucking dogs. They are just dogs. Now, I had never had a dog at that point. I'm 23, 24 years old. I never had a dog. I never had a relationship where I had a dog for 11 years. It just wasn't something that registered with me when I was 23, 24 years old. It didn't mean I was anti-dog.
Starting point is 00:09:39 It doesn't mean I was out, hey, go shoot dogs, kill dogs, electrocute dogs. But at the end of the day, my argument was he killed dogs he didn't kill people why are we bitching that this guy's getting another chance I get that Pete is protesting whatever and I remember vividly on Twitter Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle tweeted me and was like Josh you know something I'm paraphrasing because I don't remember exactly but it's like Josh is making sense here about Michael Vick. Like the world was a different place in that era, right? Those were the big story. So a lot of those stories, of course, black dudes
Starting point is 00:10:13 would be on my side in that one, because they'd be like the guys defending the black guy, or I'm ripping Tim Tebow, or I remember, I've still got these and I won't post them, because I just don't think these bits are going to hold up well in this environment that we're in today. But like Jim and I would do a bunch of like parodies like we did a parody of Paula Dean whenever she got whacked for saying the N word that I went to the store and bought all the Paula Dean pots because they were on sale. Not agreeing with her stuff. Just saying that hey, the pots were 90% off at Target and I needed cookware so I bought but like we would
Starting point is 00:10:45 do some fake commercials and shit it was funny and it was good shit that you wouldn't do now because people don't understand that kind of humor like this kind of comes from the end of like when Howard Stern was good humor and like that was where my mindset was at that shit doesn't fly anymore so it's not shit I would do today which also makes doing radio tough because back then it was just do what you think is funny and ask for forgiveness later. Now it's fucking, even though you know your message, even though you know what you're saying, even though you know what the intent of the joke was, people are going to be offended by it because people don't use critical thinking anymore.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Not that they ever did, but now they can just bitch about it more. So there's just no reason to even try to fight that and even try it. But back then I was very like I black dudes liked me. Then when I came back black dudes didn't like me as much because I was talking the stories, the big stories. I didn't reach for these stories. These were these stories. This is what was happening in the world in 2016-17-18 was Kaepernick, was Mike Brown, was a knee during the National Anthem. So when that kind of shit would happen, I just gave you what my opinion was on it. And it became like this guy's a fucking bigot and a racist and I hate you. And then at that point, I became sort of like a hero of right wingish type people. But like, I would never want to be
Starting point is 00:12:00 somebody who like, like, it's weird to to me like this person going back to this person who was like, I never knew you to be an Israeli cuck. I just listened to the podcast and I'm never listening again. It was some podcast about D day, I think. I know I don't I know nothing about Israel, Palestine, I don't know and I don't give a shit. But if I'm going to go out on a limb, I'm going to say if this guy viewed me as an Israeli cuck, I'm going to guess that he's someone who doesn't like Jews. I don't know this for a fact. But I'm going to go out on a limb, I'm going to say if this guy viewed me as an Israeli cuck, I'm going to guess that he's someone who doesn't like Jews. I don't know this for a fact, but I'm going to say that's probably what that means. Like, so do I come off as a guy that like
Starting point is 00:12:32 when you listen to me, you're like, let me tell you something about Josh Ennis, he doesn't like the Jews. Like, when would I ever give off that vibe? I don't I like I mean real talk. I am fucking ignorant to that type of stuff. I don't know what any of that means and I've told you this before like about like about like like the religions and shit. I have no clue and maybe you can say this is stupid and maybe you'll never listen to me again because you just think I'm an idiot and that's fair. I do not know why Christians or Jews and Christians have an issue with each other
Starting point is 00:13:07 because I've never felt that way because I've never viewed shit like that because I don't look at shit through the prism of religion. That's never how I was raised. Now my dad likes to post fake religious stuff on Facebook to get likes like dear lord take me today like that type of shit. But I've never I never gone to church other than when I've had girlfriends who are like, hey, we almost fucked tonight. So can we go to church to wash away our sins? And I'm like, sure, why not? Let's go to church and wash away all of our sins and listen to the homily, okay? But I'm not a religious person at all. And I don't know why different religions hate each other. And I don't really give a shit. I don't view things through that prism. I don't view things through those lenses. So when I got this thing from this guy that's like,
Starting point is 00:13:50 you're a, I never knew you to be an Israeli cook, a cook for the Israel. I'm like, how the fuck does that mean? And then he did, then I blocked the guy because I'm like, is that, and then I looked at his account and I'm like, is this the kind of audience that I bring in? I'm just trying to make people laugh. I get that you're going to have controversial takes that are going to piss people off sometimes. I get that making jokes about buying Juneteenth decorations may not sit well with some, but it's an observation. I try to be funny. You have a good time. But some of like I get worried when I look sometimes and I get into my own head and I'm like, why does this person like it was was at its worst and this is not to knock anybody who listens to the podcast and is conservative
Starting point is 00:14:30 or liberal because I think most of the people that listen to this podcast are level headed people and look, I probably lean slightly left in most things in life. I literally just told you I don't give a **** about religion and know nothing about it. That's probably a pretty left-wing thing, right? So I'm not judging anybody, but during the Rona is the angriest I've ever been about politics, and that's why that is the only time I've ever voted. And I voted for Trump just because I felt like these lying assholes were forcing people to wear masks, shutting down stores, shutting down businesses, keeping us trapped, keeping people from their families, and I just thought
Starting point is 00:15:03 it was absolute bullshit. And I think that is when I probably got my most political about shit. That is the most political kind of stance I've ever had on anything was in that era. And I still believe in what I said for that. I thought it was complete bullshit the way the country was being handled. And I feel like we're learning more and more about how much of a bullshit situation that was. But like and that probably alienated some people. But it probably galvanized some other people who thought that I was like some super duper right wing guy and I'm not. I am just me. Like I don't know what to tell you. I make fun of left wing people, I make fun of right wing people, I make fun of everyone. I try to. I know that
Starting point is 00:15:40 sounds like a cop out. I just try to rip on everybody and have a good fucking time. Sometimes I get super angry. I do have viewpoints that I have on shit. So not everything is is just jokes. Sometimes I have viewpoints on shit. I get it. But I'm just me. I'm not I don't wrap myself in what I am politically or religiously because real talk I am androgynous politically and religiously and spiritually. That's the reality of me. So it was weird to me that this person hated me because I he thought I was pro Israel, I guess. And then like, I look at his shit, and I'm like, holy shit, this guy's a fucking wacko. And he liked me up until this point. And it
Starting point is 00:16:18 seems that now he dislikes me because he thinks I'm pro Israel or Jewish or whatever. I'm like, what the fuck am I doing that gives off this vibe to people? And I think part of it is you can all like I remember back when we were in Houston the second time and I was doing that year so I did at 97.5. I don't even know if it was a year, close to a year, I guess, where I was on 97.5. And during the Rona, you would talk about things. I remember one of the stories was that DeAndre Hopkins was stepping up saying that they should rename some of the buildings on the campus at Clemson. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:16:50 why? Like if you really want to get into the business of renaming shit, you could rename virtually everything because probably some almost every person's name that's on a sign somewhere or a street probably had slaves or was slave owner adjacent or didn't do anything to fucking stop it. So if you want to rename everything and rename everything, it seems like a pretty general point. But like maybe people hear that and they're like, yeah, this guy, he's a let's get him a swastika. Well, that's like, I don't know how people feel about you. But all that to tell you this back to Trump and how
Starting point is 00:17:21 Trump just so happens on this day that whether you agree with the holiday or not, whether you think it should be a federal holiday or not, Trump is very good at making sure he does things that can be very easily taken as negative towards a group of minority people. And maybe it doesn't matter because he's the president anyway, and the people who like him are always going to like him and the people who hate him are always going to hate him and maybe none of this fucking matters. But whether you like Juneteenth or not, it's there and it's a
Starting point is 00:17:51 federal holiday. So how about this? How about on fucking Easter? Or how about on Christmas? Or how about on President's Day or whatever other day say, you know what? I don't think we should have federal holidays. We need to work more. If you said that on Christmas, it might resonate more. If you say it on the on the black holiday on the free the slaves holiday, how do you think it's going to be taken? And that's the kind of shit the dude does among other things
Starting point is 00:18:22 that I cannot take seriously because you know exactly what you doing, and then like you deliberately go off and try to feed the most extreme of your people by doing that kind of shit, just to let them know like, hey guys, I'm still here for you, buy my Bible. Like that's the kind of shit that pisses me off. Like, and it's not necessary. Like you do shit, because like you are the president, and you're not going to win over a lot of people that hate you anyway, particularly during this current shit that's happening. But like at the end of it, and maybe you just don't give a shit and that's fair, maybe I'm the pussy here.
Starting point is 00:18:56 But like dude, what are you achieving by doing that? You leave nothing to question there. Oh, by the way, it's Juneteenth, the day the slaves are freed. I don't just don't live. We need to have fewer federal holidays. We need to be working. The blacks love to work on this day. And by the way, that's an argument you're never going to win with anyone that's just
Starting point is 00:19:15 a, you know, that's sitting around like, oh no, I want to go to work today. I don't know who these people he's talking to are. They're like, listen, we all just want to work. Like who are you talking to? I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed their Thursday off. It dope. That said, I'm a big believer that like holidays are stupid. I don't disagree with that. Particularly like when like, like, hey, Walmart's closed on this day. Like, why? Like the movie theater is closed
Starting point is 00:19:42 on this day. Why? Like, who gives a shit like Christmas you get up on Christmas morning you open your presents it's eight thirty now what do you do we just sit around and talk with each other all day. The guy's very good at purposely delivering these messages that he know will be considered incendiary and will piss off a group of people and then play dumb about it and maybe he didn't give a shit. But that's the kind of shit that bothers me because sometimes the way that the message does matter and the way you deliver the message does matter. And you can argue it shouldn't.
Starting point is 00:20:15 But real talk, I just think that's a bad fucking message because it's obvious what you're doing. Whether you like this situation or not, whether you like the holiday or not, and think it should exist or shouldn't exist, and just like you think Pride Month should or shouldn't exist, maybe another thing is let's stop being overly concerned about dumb shit that doesn't fucking matter. At the end of the day, most holidays that are now being awarded in most months are just fucking pandering to people anyway. So at some point, just let them have their fucking thing until it starts impacting your life. Like Pride Month. It's like, do I think it's absurd? Yes. Like, do I think it's strange that we have parades
Starting point is 00:20:52 to celebrate who people fuck? Absolutely I do. Do I care that you fuck these people? No. Do I care what you do? What sort of instruments you like to use to fuck each other? No, I don't care. And I probably like most of you. And I've probably seen many of you at the seven share concerts I've been to so I have nothing against you. Nothing but love for you. I just don't understand why you need a parade or an entire month to celebrate who you fuck. I don't know why you need a day to celebrate a lot of shit. I don't know why baseball stadiums have to pander to people and hey today's pride game and today's the Black
Starting point is 00:21:25 Heritage Day and here's Mexican Heritage Day. And then what bothers me is that people don't really seem to realize that they're just being pandered to. I wish people would step up at some point and go, I'm not going to go to the stupid ball game because you literally just want me to go and buy beer at your ball game by telling me that you like me because I'm Mexican. Do you not like me other days? Like, hey, it's Mexican Heritage Night at the ballpark. Well me because I'm Mexican? Do you not like me other days? Like hey, it's Mexican Heritage Night at the ballpark. Well, what's tomorrow night? Do you not like
Starting point is 00:21:48 Mexicans tomorrow night? The problem is people try so hard to pander that it just waters everything down. Example. So I just saw a video of some woman at a Kroger, I believe in Atlanta. And this woman super pissed because she doesn't feel like Kroger put enough effort into the Juneteenth cookie cakes. And like one's a cookie cake that just says free at last and the other one says free. And my first thought was not boy, those are shitty looking lazy cookie
Starting point is 00:22:21 cakes. It was who the fuck buys a cookie cake for Juneteenth? Who goes to Kroger and is like, I'll take seven Juneteenth. We're having a Juneteenth party at the house. And I want to make sure that we get our Juneteenth cakes. Like who like what level headed human other than some dyed in the wool, blue hair, purple hair, pink haired, liberal white woman with three cats and a Subaru is going to the store to buy a Juneteenth cake. Like no one's doing that but Kroger's like watch us we're trying to get out ahead of this we're going to try to do something good. We've got
Starting point is 00:23:00 Juneteenth cakes everybody and then like it just shows you that you can't do anything right no matter how good your intentions are Kroger now your intentions are not good your intentions are to sell cake so you're hoping that somebody walked into the store and is like well I just came here to get you know some steaks and shit and some salad or whatever at the store some sody pops and oh look mom there's a free at last cookie cake can we one to celebrate? Like everything that that's the other thing is that everything everybody does is for gain. Yet somehow we accept certain things that people do for gain as noble. None of it is there is nothing noble about black heritage, white Hispanic
Starting point is 00:23:37 heritage night, religious night, Christian night, gay night at a ballpark. You know why those exist? They want your gay ass, your black ass, your black gay ass, your half Mexican half black gay ass to sit in those seats and spend $100 on beer, but you got in with a discounted ticket and you got yourself a rainbow flag umbrella. No one gives a shit. No one's doing things because they're noble. They're doing them because they feel they have to because if they don't, you're going to judge them. Like, don't you want people doing shit because they want to do it? Or do you just want to be pandered to? And that goes for every group, not just races but religions and everything else.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Everything everyone does is for their gain. They don't care about you. You think Kroger gives a shit about Juneteenth? No, they're hoping some dipshit will buy a Juneteenth cake because it says Juneteenth. Do you think Target gives a shit about gay people? No, they think gay people will go in and buy a fucking rainbow flag Golden Girls t-shirt for Pride Month. They don't care. And that's the thing I find. That's where I get into the old man yells at cloud. Like, stop caring about what people do because they're only doing it because you are forcing them to do it. Anywho, that was a long-winded way and a roundabout way to say that I don't fucking get what Trump was doing there.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Anywho, more to come.
