The Josh Innes Show - Trying To Use Logic With Illogical People
Episode Date: December 12, 2025Anytime I say something like "Man, I'd love to get back in to sports radio in Philly", please punch me in the balls. I've been engaged with McDougall over why media people would ask Nick Sirianni abo...ut Jalen Hurts status as the Eagles starter. It's like trying to plow a keyhole. Learn more about your ad choices. well i um every now and then when we're on here i talk about how like hey philadelphia great sports
radio towel sports media town even though the media people are largely dipshits and rage baiters
like it's still a place where people give a shit about sports and give a shit about media so like
hey what a place to work right but then every now and then i'll get engaged with these people
and i will remember why i fucking hated it right i'll remember why i thought of
That was a horrible time.
And today is one of those days.
Let me get into that.
I'll get into it after these messages.
So, yeah, I made the mistake of trying to, like, comment on some John Marks.
I mean, I know John, so I don't feel bad doing that.
But I did some pod yesterday about this comment of his about WIP.
And so I'd go comment on some of his stories and drop the link in there because why the
fuck not?
You know, everybody's trying to get their shit out there, so why not, you know?
And one of the things I commented on was a post of his talking about how he had no issue with guys like Dan Orlovsky or others asking the question of Nick Siriani.
And that question is, is Jalen Hertz your starting quarterback?
And look, we all know he is.
We all know that Tanner McKee isn't going to be.
And whether or not the fans want to believe it or not, it is a real and valid talking point, whether they think it was media.
created or not, which most things are media created, but if you piece it all together
and think about how we got to where we are, there have been talks about disagreements
between quarterbacks and receivers. Some people don't like Jalen Hertz. Yet all the issues with
A.J. Brown throughout the year of him being unhappy. And by the way, the offense blows. So it's
not unreasonable for at least some people to think, okay, what are they going to do with the quarterback?
Now, again, common sense tells you that they are not going to bench Jalen Hertz because it would be dumb to bench Jalen Hertz because Jalen Hertz went to the Super Bowl and won it last year.
He's been the Super Bowl MVP. He should have won two Super Bowls.
He's got the 20th or whatever it is, best winning percentage among quarterbacks of all time.
There is literally no reason to bench the guy.
But you can still ask the question because that is the job of a media person.
What I find interesting is all these people tell the immediate people to do your job.
You're all bad at your job.
Be pros.
then they ask the questions that based on what is a story should be asked and then these dipshits rip them for it.
So my point was and still remains that there is no crime if you have the head coach on the radio or on a TV show and you are interviewing him and you do not ask if Jalen Hertz is the starting quarterback or not, you are not doing your job.
And then I got myself in the weeds with these fucking people and as I'm arguing with them about why you ask the question,
Right. Now, their argument would be, oh, you just ask it to get a reaction and get a splash. No, you ask it because you need the sound. Your job as a media person is to get the answers to the questions that people are asking. The stories people are talking about. This isn't hard. But you explain that to dipshits, which is the biggest mistake you can make. Trying to explain shit to dipshits because they are dumb people. And I love Philadelphia. There's a lot of people I love there. But per capita,
They have the dumbest fucking sports fans on the planet.
They are just illogical imbecils.
Many of them are.
Love a lot of them.
But the most ridiculous of them, when you get to like, basically it's like this.
Every city has some real diehard people that are fucking imbecile lunatics and want no logic at all.
Every town's got some passive people.
Every town's got some of those who are in the middle.
But as far as having the imbecile lunatic quotient, Philadelphia just has more.
and a higher percentage of them than any other place on the planet, right?
Doesn't mean they're all that way.
They just have more of them there, and part of that is they've been driven to insanity
by listening to the shitty media there.
That said, this should not be that difficult of a concept, but apparently it is.
The job of the media person is to ask questions and get answers.
Well, why would you ask a question that you already know the answer to?
because you need to get the person's answer on tape, on video, audio.
Oh, you're just doing that because you're trying to make a splash.
No, you're doing that because it's your fucking job.
This shouldn't be that difficult to comprehend.
Like, let me ask you a question.
If the biggest story in Philadelphia, whether it should be or not,
but the biggest story in Philadelphia is whether or not Jalen Hertz is in danger of
being benched because of how bad the offense has been this year.
And you've got the coach on the air.
And you do not ask the coach, who makes that decision, by the way.
If you do not ask the coach the question, are you doing your job?
And the answer is absolutely not.
I would argue that the only question there is to ask the coach at this point is,
is your quarterback in danger of losing his job?
That's it.
Well, everybody already knows the answer.
So why are you asking the question?
If you already already know the answer, why he's asking a question, bow?
You ask it because it's your fucking job, McDougal.
Oh, he's just doing that to start shit.
No, you're a fanboy imbecile.
You don't care about logic.
All you care about is looking to have your stupid opinions validated.
Whether it's you love the team today or you hate the team tomorrow or whatever.
you're looking for validation.
You are not looking for any form of reality.
That is why all of these people, when they hear an opinion they don't like, what is the first thing they say?
Oh, he's just saying that to get a rise out of people.
He's just, that's some fake shit there, Bo.
Yeah, because you disagree with it.
Funny, that it's always a legit opinion when you agree with it.
When somebody agrees with your opinion, it's like, boy, this guy knows ball, man.
This guy knows sports.
He gets it.
But when you disagree with him, oh, this guy shouldn't even have it.
have a fucking job. You have a nice
sports. Like, fuck off.
Like, and then what you do
is you get yourself in the weeds with these people
trying to explain to it.
And like, it's like trying to explain,
like you can't explain logic to illogical
people. Because, and first of all,
and to their defense, they're ignorant and don't know they're ignorant.
Because they don't know the industry.
They don't know the point of doing a job.
They don't understand it. In their mind,
the job, like, every time I see a story, it's,
why is our media so bad? Why is Eagles
media so bad? Well, first things first,
they're not Eagles media.
They don't work for the Eagles.
Some do, but they don't.
It's not their job to tell you what you want to hear.
It is their job to get an answer to a question.
And whether you think WIP created the question or what,
it is still a question and it is a talking point across the fucking country right now,
you turds.
The question is, is Jalen Hertz in danger of losing his job?
Anybody with a brain would assume he's not.
Because again, the aforementioned Super Bowl championship,
went to two Super Bowls, 20th best winning percentage of all time, all that shit, right?
So, yes, logic would tell you he is not.
But you still have to ask the question.
Oh, well, I got to ask a question.
You already know the answer.
You're trying to make a splash.
I think that's the thing I hate most about Philly people is they cannot be moved from their viewpoint.
Once they're on something, even the most logical thing, even facts and data and reality, someone who actually knows what they're talking.
about telling them the facts. They do not care. It's one thing they have an opinion on something.
You know, like, I don't know, Randall Cunningham is better than Ron Jaworsky.
Well, there's no true way to determine that, right? It's just it's a debate, right? Jordan
versus LeBron. It's just a debate. There's no reality. There's no like fact, steadfast fact in
that. But there is a reality in why you ask questions you already know the answer.
to, and there are multiple answers to it.
Why would a TV person ask that question?
Well, a TV person would ask that question because they have a news broadcast to do.
Part of having a news broadcast and disseminating information is to get the answers from the people who have the information.
Who knows whether or not Jalen Hertz will be benched?
The coach.
So you mean to tell me, you think, just to be clear, you believe that someone, you know,
who's interviewing Nick Siriani today or this week after the Eagles have lost three in a row
when the offense has been dog shit and the talking point whether right or wrong has been
whether or not the quarterback has a chance to be binged.
You mean to tell me that the media person interviewing that coach should not ask that question.
You're a fucking idiot.
And I can't help you.
And I think people are getting dumber and dumber and people who don't deserve to have a
have voices. We should have more voiceless people because the people that have the loudest
voices are the dumbest fuckers on the planet. They are just imbeciles. And you can't knock them off
their perch. You can't convince them otherwise. They're bolted in and they are unwavered. You cannot
move them with any sort of logic or truth. And again, this is not about things that are legit
debates that no one can truly know the answer to. Like, hey, would the rockets have still won the two
championships if Michael Jordan didn't retire? Well, nobody knows.
Who's to say in 1994, Michael Jordan's leg wouldn't have fall off? You know what I'm saying?
You can't prove any of that shit. But you can ask a coach if his player is going to play.
And he may tell you, you're a fucking imbecile for asking that. Of course, he's going to play.
But it is your job to ask the question, even if you already know the answer.
And the fact that I have to explain that to imbecils, and they still refuse to get it.
and that's the part like it gets you enraged
and you just have to step back and go
I made a mistake here
and I have to tell myself that any time
I start to think you know what Josh
you should have fought even harder to get back into
sports radio I won't specify all radio
you should have fought harder to get back into sports radio
in Philadelphia you should have really busted ass to do that
because you'd still be successful and maybe I would
I have to tell myself Josh this is why you fucking
hated it because these people are fucking stupid and you have to tell yourself that you have to
step back and go you're trying to fight logic and use logic with people who are 100% illogical
puds and it's impossible to do and then I remember that I'm quite content like do I want to
have more success in Detroit yes do I want this show to be a big deal yes do I want people to know
who I am yes do I want my opinions do I miss having my opinions being heard by people and
debated, yes. Those things are all true. But what I don't miss is fighting with imbeciles and being
driven to the point of insanity over shit that like I wish, I compliment them on this. I wish I had
the ability to be that set in my dipshit idiotic ways that I could not be way. I could not be moved.
I would not waver. I would not bow, but I can't be that way because sometimes people are just
going to be right and you'll get a piece of information that you didn't know before and you'll go,
Okay, that makes sense.
That doesn't exist for the angriest of McDougals.
They cannot be moved by it.
In a way, it's kind of commendable, but they're imbeciles.
More to come.
