The Josh Innes Show - White House Visits
Episode Date: April 29, 2025My Buddy AJ Hoffman posted something on Twitter that I found amusing. Basically, he challenged sports writer Clarence Hill to stop being full of shit. What incentive does anyone have to stop being... full of shit? When guys turn down White House visits, do we believe they are doing so for themselves or for fear of social media backlash? I want to give my friend A.J. Hoffman credit for something.
A.J., of course, on the radio in San Antonio and was the program director at 97.5 in Houston when I was working there for free for about a year before I went to Nashville.
So everybody's been making this big deal over.
There's two big stories.
Shader Sanders and then the White House and the Eagles visit and the ones who went are sellouts and Saquon Barkley's awful and then the ones who didn't go are true heroes.
Like, just I'll start here. they actually legitimately feel passionate about and how many of their actions are done because of
fear of recourse or backlash from social media and just the media in general, right? Or to elevate
clout, right? So at the end of the day, if you're a football player who goes to the White House,
big fucking deal, right? If you're a football player who doesn't go to the White House,
big fucking deal, right? If you want to go, if you don't don't pretty simple but when you see the
guys like like jalen hurts like i don't know what jalen hurts feels politically probably doesn't
like trump but maybe he does who knows i don't know but even if he did he decides to not go
and how much of that is because he's the quarterback of a football team
and he can be the hero of the internet like i i i wonder pretty often how much of what people do
is based on fear of really just internet backlash the internet's a really terrible place and the
internet is filled with people who big picture are going nowhere in life, don't care to go anywhere in life.
They are not people who are decision makers.
They are not bosses.
They are just people who just want to bitch on the internet.
That's why they exist.
So what's the benefit?
Like if you're Jalen Hurts and you go to the White House, end of the day, there's no real benefit, right? There's no great
benefit in going. You've already been there once when you were in college anyhow. But what benefit
is there to you? If you're A.J. Brown, if you're any of these guys, Devontae Smith, if you're any
of these guys, what do you gain from going to the White House, right? Ultimately, you know who's
going to be on your side, like Trump or people and right-wing people that are going to the White House, right? Ultimately, you know who's going to be on your side? Like Trump or people in right wing people that are going to go like, yeah, that's a guy
that respects the office, right? Like that's the reaction you're going to get from people.
And on the flip side, it's going to cost you a lot of social currency with left wing people
and probably with a lot of black people and probably with black Twitter and black media
people that's going to hurt you in that way. So what's more important to you getting like the
the Trump people to love you or keeping the love from the people who presumably love you already.
So what's the true benefit. There is no true benefit in them going so why would you go like fine but i i bring this up
because i talk about aj and i'm talking about aj hoffman here so people have made the big thing
over two big stories shadur sanders also him getting prank called by jeff olbrich's kid
and then uh on the flip side it's the players going to the White House. So yesterday,
a person named Jack Posobiec, whoever this guy is, he's a veteran Navy intel officer,
Catholic, New York Times bestselling author. I probably should know who this guy is,
but I don't know who a lot of these people are. I don't know who right-wing
people are, left-wing. I don't know and I don't care. I've seen this guy's name pop up. But it's
all this tit-for-tat shit. So this starts with Jemele Hill posting 21 hours ago. If Saquon
Barkley is able to voice he's visiting with the president because he respects the office,
then Jalen Hurts should be able to say they don't want to go because they object to the president. If it's scheduling conflicts, totally fine,
blah, blah, blah. So she's saying, well, if he wants to go because he respects the office,
Jalen Hurts shouldn't. So Jack Posso, Possobic, and again, I'm sorry to the Trump people and
right-wing people. I don't know who the fuck this guy is, so my bad. To which this guy responds and quote tweets,
you mean this Jalen Hurts question mark?
And it's a picture of Jalen Hurts and the Alabama football team,
the 2017 champions at the White House with Trump.
So Jalen Hurts has been there.
So this Jack Posobiec or Posobiec, whatever,
you mean this Jalen Hurts?
So he's like, ha, ha gotcha and of course all
the right wing people respond to that see see ha ha ha now mind you that's eight years ago so
he tweets that to which Clarence Hill Jr. who is like a goat level race baiter like goat status
like he's if like LeBron and Michael Jordan had a race baiting baby, right? Like this
is like goat level race baiter to which he quotes Corinthians. Uh, let's see one Corinthians 13,
11. When I was a child, I spoke as a child. I understood as a child, I thought as a child,
but when I became a man, I away childish things college versus NFL and being
grown man who can make decisions for himself okay so basically now in response to this Jack
Persobic Clarence Hill Jr. much easier name to pronounce so thank you Clarence Clarence Hill
Jr. is basically saying that well back in 2017 J Hurts, who at the time was like 20, 21 years old,
is a child, basically. He's a kid. He's a young guy, but now he's an adult and he can make
decisions for himself. To which he also says about the 21-year-old who prank called Shader Sanders,
Clarence Hill also had tweeted at one point
in response to his own thing.
Trayvon Martin was a kid.
Oh no, sorry, my bad.
This is just a never-ending saga.
So then a person named Zach Rosenblatt tweets,
Jax Ulbrich, what a name,
Jax Ulbrich, Jeff Ulbrich's son,
released an apology for his role
in the Shadur Sanders
prank call.
I'm told he also reached out to the Sanders family directly to apologize.
By all accounts, Jax is a good kid who made a mistake, and he's doing what he can to hold
himself accountable.
To which Clarence Hill says, Trayvon Martin was a kid.
Emmett Till was a kid.
A 21-year-old is an adult.
So his argument here is that if you're 21 years old, you're not a kid a 21 year old is an adult so his argument here is that if you're 21 years old you're not a
kid of course his previous argument was that when 20 something year old football player goes to the
white house with his football team in 2017 he's a kid who can't make a decision for himself to which
aj give him credit here aj says so 20 year 20-year-old college student Jalen Hurts was a child,
but Ulbricht's 21-year-old dummy son is an adult.
Which is it?
Thank you, AJ.
Thank you very much, AJ Hoffman.
It's amazing how we spin things.
It's the same argument.
Well, hold on.
Let me play a couple commercials and we'll continue.
All right.

argument i make when we talk about college athletes when we choose to call them kids versus
when we choose to call them adults right like Like whenever people are critical of college athletes
who are getting paid, by the way,
when people are critical of college athletes,
it's these are just college kids.
Well, this college kid, like you want to tell me
that Carson Beck getting paid $4 million to go to Miami?
Fuckers are pro.
That is a pro athlete.
That is not a fucking kid.
That is a professional athlete.
But whenever that happens or whenever, you know, insert whatever player we want to talk about gets booed and these are just
college kids and I'll never boo a college kid yet when you're fighting for them to get paid and get
all the money they can then they're adults there's a bunch of hypocrisy good for AJ though I appreciate
nothing like not that AJ wouldn't be someone that would step up anyway, but it's 100% true. And that whole back and forth exchange between Clarence Hill and all the
retweets and shit, that's exactly what is wrong. It's just an eye for an eye shit that no one's
looking for balance. No one's looking to, to, you know, to, for people to come together on shit.
All it is, is it's looking for an eye for an eye like Clarence Hill real talk Clarence Hill
does not like this kid because he's white and that's why he has compared him to other black
people who have had bad things happen to them the reason why people care that Shader Sanders got
prank called and don't care that the other slap dicks got prank called that Tyler Warren got
prank called is because Shader Sanders is black and and these kids are white and they don't care they don't care and on
the same thing like you've got these other guys coming back and looking for hypocrisies and look
jalen hurts went to the white house when he was 20 cool you think people can't change in eight
fucking years you know like what are we doing do you
think that someone who's a 20 year old in college 21 year old in college can't change his fucking
opinion on shit over the course of eight years of his life as he becomes an adult but then i
understand aj's point which is so a 20 a 20 year old that goes to the white house as a kid but a
21 year old dude who's in college who makes a prank call is a horrible adult. Like what the fuck is it?
The goalposts move all the time and people have bullshit, stupid arguments about everything. And it's dumb. It is all dumb. And that's why like people, like people do not want true equality,
right? People don't want that. The equality is not the quest. People are just out for an eye for an eye.
Oh, you got away with this?
Now I want to get away with this.
It's not, oh, that person got away with something shitty.
Let's try to figure out how to eliminate the shitty thing.
It's, oh, that person did something shitty?
Well, I guess I get a pass to do something shitty now too
because that person was a shithead.
And that's what we do now.
And everything is black versus white.
That's the problem with this fucking country is it's black versus white.
That's the only thing that fucking matters.
It's the only currency.
The color of your skin is the only currency that matters.
Again, I talked with Meltzer about it.
He says, do you think anything's going to change?
Fuck no.
Why would it?
What incentive to these media people who are making all this money off of racial division?
What benefit is it to them?
And the same way the politics.
Like, do you ever think these politicians will stop, like, race baiting and pandering to this group?
No.
Why?
Because there's power and money involved.
Power into money, money into power.
It's just how this shit goes.
And it will never change.
Especially now with social media. You want it to change? Get rid of
social media. Eliminate Twitter. Eliminate all social media. But there are too many people who've
gotten rich and powerful off of social media and racial division to the point that it's comical.
We are so divided racially right now that we look at a rich fucking kid like Shader Sanders,
whose dad is a hall of famer, presumably very fucking wealthy, major college football head
coach who just got a new fucking deal at Colorado, tons of cash, tons of cash, tons of fame.
And we are looking at him as a victim because he was drafted in the fifth round and will
only make $5 million.
Who's got endorsement deals everywhere.
Who's the biggest name in this draft,
even though he's not nearly close to the biggest player.
And we view him as some sort of symbol
of what's wrong with this country
and that everybody's racist and fucking terrible.
And it's like, what are we doing?
The fact that we're looking at a guy getting prank called
is some sort of sign that we've regressed
back to the civil rights fucking,
but what are we
doing but there's no reason for it to change there's no incentive to change there's no reason
for the pendulum to swing back why is there no incentive for the pendulum to swing back money
what would jamel hill be without race shit? What would Clay Travis be without race shit?
Clay Travis would not be hosting the biggest radio show on the fucking planet had Clay Travis
not gone from working for Obama or campaigning for Obama to Trump head 2024. But he's on 500
fucking radio stations replacing Rush Limbaugh because he played into this shit.
There is too much at stake for too many people for racial division to ever go away.
It will continue. Then there are just some people who are fucking lazy and are caught up in the
middle of it and don't know any better. Those exist, white and black. People who just don't
take the time to read anything and don't research shit for themselves.
And they just get caught in the middle.
So they'll see some story about something horrible a white guy did
or something horrible a black guy did.
And they'll just react to it.
And that's just what they do.
Out of the hundreds of millions of people in this country,
most of them are fucking morons.
Nice people, probably fucking morons.
Maybe just people that have a job and don't have time to look at everything
so they see something pop up on social media and they assume it's true.
I'm an unemployed jag.
I can sit here all day and look into stories and see if I think they're real or not.
So that's one thing.
But we have too many stupid people.
Too many stupid people who are easily manipulated.
That's how politicians gain power,
and that's how they've always gained power, by people being manipulated, people who are
uneducated, people who are not studious, people who don't look into things, and they just kind
of go with it. Because a lot of people don't care about this shit. They're just going to go with
what their buddies are into, or they're going to go with the internet tells them to go to,
they're going to go with what a meme tells them to go with. But absolutely 100% not. When you ask
the question, will things get better? No. I'm not trying to be a downer. I'm not trying to be an
asshole. I'm not trying to be a bad person. But will things get better? No. The only way they
have a chance to get better is if social media doesn't exist. Social media will always exist. So as long as social media exists and there's people that are
manipulating, again, look at the for you on social media, which I would actually don't do that
because it's horrible for you. But for you, we'll send you everything that even if it's things you're
kind of annoyed by, they'll send you enough of shit and enough of the right quotes and shit
where you'll see it and you'll go, I am super pissed off by this and now i'm angry they want you to be angry they want you
to be fighting they want you to be divided and there's no way to get out of it so you can just
do what i do is just try to sit in my own corner of the world and shut the fuck up and just wait
around for the world to end that's kind of what the option is.
I hope you appreciate this positive message,
but it's true.
The social media has killed the world.
It is poison, it is toxic,
and it has provided so much power to people who otherwise wouldn't have it
that there's no reason for them to relinquish the power because they've become something because of this.
There is no reason for this stuff to ever go away because there's too much money involved.
So now you know the rest of the story.
