The Josh Innes Show - Who Made Trump?

Episode Date: February 8, 2026

Trump was a creation of left wing politicians and analysts. If not for the inability of left wing types to get out of their own way, Trump would have never been a thing. They were Frankenstein. He ...is the monster. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Starting point is 00:00:00 Amazon presents Juan versus baby. Drunk on milk and power. This bundle of sheer chaos only comes with three settings. Crying, pooping, and crying while pooping. But Juan shopped on Amazon and saved on pacifiers, diaper cream, and a colossal bag of coffee beans. Hear that baby, Juan just rocked you to sleep. Save the everyday with deals from Amazon. But anyway, texted this buddy of mine who is a programmer and on-air guy at a talk station that leans right.
Starting point is 00:00:38 But his aspiration is to at some point do away, still lean, common sense would be the angle he tells me. Common sense that is kind of where they want to go at their station. And that's why they like me, I guess. But he and I text about just talk radio and shit. And I said, you know, I really hope bad money comes out in a fucking dress. and I don't know what's worse, and I truly don't. I don't know what's worse if it's the people that are just constantly bitching about Bad Bunny or the people who are going to pretend like they're going to enjoy a 15-minute performance in Spanish
Starting point is 00:01:10 just because they want to piss the MAGA people off. Like, I don't know which group is actually worse. And I told him that. He's like, yeah, it's a funny topic or whatever. And he goes, if you were doing talk radio tomorrow, what would your thoughts be on the Trump-Obama tweet? Boarding for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. Ugh, what? Sounds like Ojo time.

Starting point is 00:02:17 Let's see. Let me see exactly what I tweeted him here or texted him. when he asked me that. He said, what would you do if you were on a talk radio station? How would you handle the controversy? He says,
Starting point is 00:02:32 if you were on a talk station, what would your take be on the Trump Obama ape tweet? To which I said that I'm sick of his bullshit, quite frankly, and spare me about what aboutism if you listen to the podcast yesterday,
Starting point is 00:02:45 like, you know, you heard. I was like, it's like about the what aboutism. Like, yeah, I know that Stern wore blackface. I don't care. I know the liberals are hypocrites. Like, what the actual fuck are we doing here? And to which he said, I think that's in line with the majority of the country.
Starting point is 00:03:02 But on AM radio, it's going to be a lot of the what aboutism. And I think that's the hard part you run into and doing talk radio on AM radio. And it's amazing. AM is a lot like Facebook. It's like catnip for old people. Like, you noticed a couple years ago when there was the big talking point about, about how AM radios were going to no longer be in cars. And the people that argued the most about it were right-wing old people.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Like how many times do people actually flip over to AM radio? Very rarely unless like that's the only place the ball game is, which in most places that's not the case anymore. You know who'd really be fucked if that happened is Houston Sports Radio. There would be no place to find Houston Sports Radio if there were no AM radios and cars. of course the right wing people fought this because they're old and they're old dudes and they don't want to lose out on Michael Barry or whoever the fuck it is Rush Limbaugh, the ghost of Rush Limbaugh,
Starting point is 00:04:00 the best of Rush Limbaugh from beyond, Clay and Buck, whatever, they don't want to miss out on that and they were the ones who fought that. And that's the fight you have when you're doing AM radio. And that's what I was telling him is like, I think that's your biggest problem that you're going to run into is if you're truly trying to take a radio station. Oh, hi, Ross. That if you're truly trying to take a radio station and have it shift from being like angry old man yells at cloud right wing talk and turn it into like right leaning common sense, kind of guy talk, kind of like a hybrid of like ONA and Stern in the 90s, but with a little bit of the tend to rush. And, you know, kind of a slight rightly common sense cool thing. Honestly, what I compared it to was Adam Carolla.
Starting point is 00:04:43 because you want it to be funny, you wanted to be engaging, you don't want it to just be angry, bitter old man shit. You're also not going to, you know, throw baloney on a stripper's ass. You know, that kind of shit.
Starting point is 00:04:53 And to me, like the one that stood out the most, the one that made the most sense whenever he was describing this to me was like an Adam Carolla vibe, like Carolla or, you know, kind of like the, not even Marr,
Starting point is 00:05:04 because Bill Maher is too snarky and left wing for what that would, what they would want to do. And he was telling me this. He's like, you know, like, the problem is I have an A. radio station and AM people tend to be old what aboutism dudes that are like oh well well well
Starting point is 00:05:21 stern wore blackface of course he did and of course these people are fucking hypocrites but at some point it just gets kind of tiresome doesn't it so you know he was just asking me how I would handle certain things and what topics I would talk about because he was kind of just you know like I like to spitball ideas with people and kind of you know like I send people ideas all the time in formats that I'm not in because I kind of miss doing them. So there'll be times I'll send something to like my buddy Matt and Baton Rouge and say, hey, I think this would be a funny bit for you. Or I'll send it to a news talk guy about something and say, hey, we did this.
Starting point is 00:05:53 But I couldn't do it as well as you guys can do it because I have to kind of play it safe and rock radio. But we talked about this topic and I think you guys could do it better than us because I have to be kind of like, you know, more down the middle and fluffy about it where you can go out and kind of be a little bit more, you have a little bit more teeth about it, you know, that kind of shit. but we were just talking about that kind of shit and about which direction
Starting point is 00:06:18 a lot of this talk is going and what direction the people are going and I do find it fascinating to think about where things are going to be in a post-Trump universe. I know we've talked about that a lot, but I do wonder, like what happens when there is no Trump?
Starting point is 00:06:38 So the left-wing people that suckle off of that teat are constantly talking about Trump. What happens when there's no Trump? What happens when the hero of this, this MAGA group of people doesn't have Trump anymore? What do we do? Like, what does the world become? What does the talk media?
Starting point is 00:06:54 What does the talk radio world become? And I'll find myself commenting on people shit. Like, just commonsensical shit. Like, you know, a lot of these people like to tweet about, you know, like the MAGAs are getting what they deserve and whatever. And I've been going back and forth with some people. about the idea that, yeah, the Trump thing's a mess at the moment, but the Trump thing never had to happen.
Starting point is 00:07:19 And the problem you run into is that a lot of left-wing people struggle to understand or just don't want to. I think they might even get it, but they'll never admit it, that they are Dr. Frankenstein and Trump is the monster. Right? I don't think that's unfair to say at all. And of course, when I say that, I'll get reactions from left-wing people like, hey, you fat fuck.
Starting point is 00:07:46 You know that you're just blaming other people for your own abhorrent views was a tweet I got from someone. I'm like, motherfucker, you don't even know my views. You don't know fucking shit. You just assume that because I'm saying that you guys are the problem that I'm on the other side. And I'm not. What I'm telling you is you made Trump. And the fact that you cannot acknowledge it and you don't see where you've gone wrong will doom you to continue possibly even losing shit.
Starting point is 00:08:11 They can't understand, because in their minds, in the minds of a lot of elitist liberal people who are above the Mason-Dixon line, and if they're not, they're like the Olympic athletes, they're like self-loathing people that live in the South and talk about how dumb the South is, but they don't leave the South, right? So they're like liberals down in the South
Starting point is 00:08:28 that are like, my part of the country is so fucking stupid and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Like, they can't acknowledge that their inability to be, relatable, their inability to be able to see anybody's other side of an argument, their desire to be like the healers of the world and the moral compass of the world, their quest to let you know that everybody who isn't on their side is deplorable and terrible and that cops are bad and that teachers should be teaching all sorts of shit about gay shit in classes
Starting point is 00:09:06 and that they should be teaching about how even though you're like four years old, you can choose if you're a boy or a girl, and that like the girls should be going to the boys' bathrooms and boys in the girls' bathrooms and boys should be playing girls' sports. And yes, a lot of those things are overblown by right-wing people, but those are real things that average people listen to and go, yeah, I don't know that I'm into that. You know, I'm not ready for that yet.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Your kids are going to love it, but I don't know that I'm ready for that yet. And they can't acknowledge that it's their fault. They can't acknowledge that they need to kind of, you know, ease up on the throttle a little bit and maybe try to be a little bit more fucking normal. But they can't do that. And they'll never relate to average people because they hate average people. They hate Southern people. They hate uneducated people.
Starting point is 00:09:54 They hate people that didn't go to college. They hate white old people. And like that's their problem. Like when I was a kid growing up, that wasn't like super political or anything or follow it. So maybe my opinion on this is. isn't totally fair. But growing up, like I don't remember thinking,
Starting point is 00:10:12 you know who Bill Clinton hates? White people. Or I never thought, you know what Bill Clinton really wants? Dudes playing women's sports. Or you know what Bill Clinton wants? Bill Clinton wants you to be able to, you know, determine your own gender.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Or Bill Clinton wants you to be able to use the girls' bathroom or, you know, get gender affirming care at like, you know, four. I never thought that about Bill Clinton. And look, I didn't live through that as an adult or someone who could, you know, understand it. So maybe my viewpoint on that isn't totally fair. And I understand that. I get that my viewpoint's probably not fair.
Starting point is 00:10:50 But just based on history and what I've read, I don't recall these people being bat shit fucking crazy. But they can't acknowledge that them going bat shit crazy created Trump. And deep down, I think they kind of like it because they want a boogeyman. Like people need a boogeyman. You need the bad guy. Like Dr. Sam Loomis doesn't function without Michael Myers. Like you need the boogeyman. You need the bad guy.
Starting point is 00:11:17 You need the guy that you can rally your troops behind and say, this guy is evil, right? Like that's what you need. You can't function without him. He is your oxygen. But they will never acknowledge that. When you bring that up, it becomes, oh, look at this.
Starting point is 00:11:34 We got a fat fuck maggot here. And he's out here. telling us that it's our fault, that this, that you have bad views and that you support a pedophile rapist criminal and it's somehow our fault now, huh? Like, well, it's your fault that he exists. And if you want to go to the butterfly effect and say, hey, step on a butterfly 12 years ago or whatever it is, 10 years ago, 11 years ago, step on a butterfly and see how history changes. If Hillary doesn't say basket of deplorables, because Hillary had no business losing that,
Starting point is 00:12:14 except she was unrelatable and she was the perfect example of snobby, shitty, condescending, looking down upon everybody else, left-wing bullshit. And she's the reason why Trump is where Trump is. Because she shouldn't have lost. She won the popular vote, right? Like she shouldn't have lost.
Starting point is 00:12:38 but she did because they are stupid and they couldn't help themselves. They could not help themselves, but to continue to hammer Trump and not just Trump the people who support him and to hammer him in such ways that it helped galvanize them. I wanted Trump to win that one because she was such an unlikable twat of a person. Not thinking politics or anything, just she was an unlikable twat. And remember, the country was going very progressive at that time. I mean, obviously we were going through a lot of like protests and shit. But you had a black president for eight years.
Starting point is 00:13:13 You were about to have a female president for the first time. And then everything went to hell because Hillary couldn't get it done. If you want to really look at, if you want to know why Trump is here, look at fucking Hillary. If you want to know why we're, we've had 10 years of our lives, 11 years of our lives that have involved fucking Donald Trump as the president or someone who's president adjacent. You know why? Look at fucking Hillary Rodham Clinton. She's the reason. And that's not to defend people who are racist and bigots and everybody else.
Starting point is 00:13:45 But no, it is to say that you have to look in the fucking mirror and reap what you sow. And you need to reevaluate the things that you do. You have to reevaluate that like your faces of your organizations are these unrelatable, uninteresting celebrities who tell you how bad America is, but don't leave it. They stay in it and they're fucking rich. And they live in Nazi Germany yet somehow in Nazi Germany, they're able to sit court side at the Knicks game. And somehow in Nazi Germany,
Starting point is 00:14:12 they can go to award shows and shit on politicians. Like, that doesn't sound like Nazi Germany. Last time I checked, I don't think Anne Frank was up in the attic. Like, boy, I sure hope I can get out of here soon because I've got Knicks tickets. So, like, that's the problem, man. The problem is you're unrelatable people
Starting point is 00:14:32 and you can't acknowledge that there needs to be a shift because you can't, you don't want to lose. And that's where we are is the one-upsmanship. It's just constantly, That's where the what aboutism goes. The what aboutism is because you don't want to lose. So you keep looking at the other side and going, oh, what about this shit here?
Starting point is 00:14:50 What about what Howard Stern was in blackface? Dude, you want to hear say? Go back and listen to Howard Stern the day after Selena died. Anybody who tells you, I'll do the what aboutism for a second. Go back and listen to that. The day after, and I think I talked about this a little bit yesterday, But go back and listen to that. I'm sure it's online.
Starting point is 00:15:11 He's tried to scrub everything from his past off the internet, but it's there somewhere. Just remember that anybody who sits there and tells you that you're a racist, homophob, xenophobe, whatever, because you're like, hey, I think the halftime show should maybe be in fucking English. Okay? Just remember, the same people that will call you racist for that
Starting point is 00:15:30 are the same people who celebrate Howard Stern, who is the same guy that was playing gunshot sound effects. They were like chickens. There was all sorts of shit on the air. Howard Stern saying that Selena's music was fucking terrible anyway and that Mexican people have shitty taste in music and like basically dancing on the grave of this woman who is a hero to millions of fucking Hispanic and Latino people
Starting point is 00:15:51 get that guy's your fucking hero. But if you say that, it's like, oh, somebody can't handle the racist over here can't handle the bad bunny speaking in Spanish and that's the problem and that's why they will never acknowledge anything and neither will the other side and we're fucked I might just change the podcast out. We're fucked and other anecdotes from Josh Ennis.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Like, how does it get better? It doesn't. There's no need for it to get any better. Nobody wants it to get any better. Anyway, so I'm looking forward to the halftime show, and I'm looking forward to the comments from people on the WLLZ Facebook page because it's going to be spectacular.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Let's see how many comments we have. The Green Day one's not doing as well as the Kid Rock. So Green Day is not that. This one says, oh, hold on, WLZ is losing all credibility because we said that Green Day is a rock band. Now, granted, the person who said this, his profile pick is him wearing a black wife beater, cargo shorts that have a camouflage pattern, a shitload of tattoos, multiple chains, including one that is a tattoo of a necklace, and some sort of like dog collar on his wrist.
Starting point is 00:17:10 But we're losing credibility with that guy. And of course, all of his cover photos are of motorcycles. So we are losing credibility. That's got 96 comments, by the way. It's just so fucking good watching these people melt down. Oh, boy. Anyway. All right, more to come.
