Zachary, Gavin, very excited to have you here on the show.
They're part of the Vanguard podcast hosted by Zachary and Gavin,
and they bring lively conversations to left-wing politics and platform independent voices
with ideas on the Vanguard of Modern Leftist Thought.
And we are very fortunate to have them with us today.
Thank you for joining the channel.
Hey, thanks for having us, man.
Yeah, thanks so much for the invite, Keith.
That's great to be on your show.
I'm so glad to be here with you.
and what a perfect time because we are 1.5 weeks away for the midterm elections.
Going to be a lot of takes the day after.
They're already starting to set up how this is going to be a bad thing for leftists either way.
You know, the goalposts have moved a lot.
But I wanted to bring you on because there has been this kind of a little bit of like a narrative
that's formed around polling and how that could have shaped the election.
or shape the midterm primary between Haley Stevens and Abdul Al-Said.
But before we get into that, just want to know, how are you doing?
Take it away, Zach.
Yeah, dude, I'm feeling pretty good.
You know, it's the fall season.
Gavin and I are big fans of the fall weather here in Kansas City.
We're finally getting a break from the oppressive heat.
So that's got us feeling good.
And we've been anticipating a blue wave for a long time.
And I feel really, really good about it.
All of the polling that I'm seeing coming out, I know we'll talk about how there's
some, you know, there's some pitfalls when it comes to keeping track of polls, right? Gavin and I
are obsessive poll guys. You know, we'll put our cards on the table. We love that. But to me,
all of the data points that we can operate within are showing that it's going to be a
tremendous, tremendous turnout for the Democratic Party. And it really is. It's going to be
a repudiation of the Donald Trump administration and this MAGA movement, if you want to even call
it that we're going to see once again when the American people are reminded of what Donald
Trump is as a governor, right, a governor as the president, right? The person who's leading our
government, his entire stick falls apart, right? He can throw stones from the outside, but he cannot
lead, he cannot accomplish anything. He can only get us into trouble. And I think people are going
to really, really want to return to normalcy, of return to decency, and they're going to find that
in the Democratic Party. Yeah, no, I totally agree with that. We're feeling good. Obviously,
our channel's kind of known for political drama, but we're just as into horse race politics. And
when we're this close to the midterms, that's when the rubber really hits the road, the shit really
hits the fan, and we're loving every minute of it, specifically because it looks like it's going to
be a great election cycle for the Democratic Party and a terrible election cycle for the GOP.
That is, at least if the polls are to be believed, you know, we're going to be talking a little bit
about that. I know, hopefully it's not all just a sci-op.
It's not a sci-up. I will say this, though, because here's the learning, here's the take
that's going to happen the next day, if there's no shenanigans. And I don't think, you know,
let's not break down in all the different ways that Donald Trump and his administration.
could potentially affect the outcome of the election.
That's something I'm worried about.
But let's say we have a free and fair election, God willing, the next day Democrats win,
as the polls predict.
I'm going to tell you one thing it's not going to reflect is that Democrats have a strong brand
and that folks want what the Democrats are offering.
And I think what's happened in the primary is we're seeing that the Democratic establishment
is actually sinking candidates.
who would otherwise maybe have won a different cycle.
So yes, yes, this is going to be a really big sign that MAGA is a dying brand,
a dying political movement, hopefully.
But I also hope that what we can start to instill in people is that, yes, Democrats are going to win big.
But it's not because Democrats are offering something new.
I mean, we do have some candidates who are that are very exciting,
candidates that the establishment tried to stop. But what this really is just going to show is that
there's going to be a huge fight in the next two years that for the for the narrative of like what
this means, right? Yeah, the Democratic Party's up for grabs. Yeah. I mean, listen, in 2022, when those,
when the midterms weren't as bad as folks were expecting, Biden took that as a sign he had to run again,
you know so there's a lot there's a lot of ways in which like the narrative from this thing can
really take shape and run away from itself and so i've been telling the audience that listen i hope
we win big i'm pretty sure we will barring any shenanigans but but the lesson from that can't be
we're not going to change anything because look why would we change anything we're winning a lot
no no no you're not because of who you are it's because of who you're not
that's not a place you want to be.
No, totally, 100%.
You know, we just had an interview
a little discussion
with crystal ball of breaking points yesterday.
We got to talk about that.
You know, it seemed like
the Democratic Party was unstoppable
back in 2008 after Barack Obama
won the presidency.
The Democrats had a super majority.
You know, it seemed like the Republicans
would never win again.
But then just a couple years later,
the Tea Party was rearing its head.
All of a sudden, the Democrats got wiped out
in the midterms.
They're not wiped out, but, you know,
they didn't fare so well.
and then, you know, the next thing you know, here's MAGA, here's Trump.
So, of course, the Republican Party always comes back,
and to forestall that the Democrats need to embrace a serious politics of change
and a politics that will cause working people to actually realize that they're working on their behalf,
instead of on behalf of the corporations like we've seen in previous Democratic administrations,
and as represented by the Democratic status quo,
that, like you said, tried to sabotage and continues to try to sabotage a lot of the real left-wing candidates
in the movements that they represent.
Yes. And so that, so that, so,
That is my long preface.
I'm glad you're on board.
That is my long preface is, God willing, we'll win by a lot.
But it's not because of what we're selling, honestly.
You know, but let's get into, let's get into this article here,
which, you know, has been, it's been like a smaller narrative on the internet,
but I think very interesting where a pollster admitted that they were fabricating data
for a quote, social experiment says here, a polling firm has admitted to you,
Using fabricated data and surveys that were picked up by national media outlets in the U.S.
claiming the project was a social experiment designed to expose a lack of scrutiny over the sector.
In its statement, Wedgwood Polls admitted to fabricating its numbers and said the project was designed as a whip-up call intended to demonstrate the vulnerabilities,
lack of oversight, and overall low barrier to entry in the modern political polling industry.
It says here, let's just go about what they did.
So the election results analysis site, decision deck said it had to remove 17 polls,
because of what they said. But is there, where does it say here, Kelly? Is there a say of like what,
where it is, like where the, oh, here it is. Is this it? Okay. Michigan State Senator Mallory
McMorrow Democrat who dropped out of the contentious U.S. primary on 5th of July said that Wedgewood's
polls numbers indicated that her support had plunged in the weeks prior. And as a result, her
donations dried up. Volunteers were left devastated and reporters hounded her with calls to drop out
of the race. So they released some polls that made Mallory McMarro look bad, made Al Sayette look like
he was on the rise. That actually happened to be the truth. You know, I mean, it's a shame that
it's a shame one polling outfit lied. But I was actually telling my producer about this before. I would
love to get your sense of it. But like, this is one independent pollster who was making up numbers.
And what happened was that folks freaked the fuck out on the internet. Can we just show some of
these tweets? Malik Morrow saying, sure. I can just chime in really quick about Mallory. Yeah, go ahead.
Yeah.
Super ridiculous for her in particular to be making a stink about this.
This poll came out in July of this year, right?
So already very, very deep into the primary season in Michigan.
And I have this MERS poll, a totally accurate or at least seemingly accurate, right?
Because it did a good job of showing a close race between Haley Stevens and Abdul El-Sayette
and a very, very distant path to the nomination for Mallory McMorrow.
In fact, it showed that with voters 18 to 44,
El-Sayed had 86% of the support, while Mallory McMorrow had zero percent of the support.
With black voters, Mallory McMorrow was polling with zero percent of the, with zero percent of the electorate, right?
This was a legitimate MERS poll from one month before the fake poll came out.
So for her to come out here and act like, oh, it was so devastating for this negative poll to come out.
How about the poll in Michigan that shows you're polling at zero percent with African-American voters and voters under the age of 44?
That was what started to sink your ship.
That was what started to make people realize, oh, my gosh, in a state like Michigan with a city that is like Detroit, so important if you're going to win a statewide election, there's no path forward for Mallory McMorrow.
We need to start putting all of our energy towards Haley Stevens.
And Haley Stevens should be grateful because in the aftermath of this polling, she started to get a bunch of APEC money and a bunch of funding to blanket the airwaves with criticisms of Abdul El-Said.

It's a totally great point.
And Malamara, I mean, it does just sound like sour grapes.
I mean, I think overall the problem with Mali McMorrow's campaign was that she didn't have a lane.
And I think up until she had like she was the one, I believe she's the one.
We can credit her that created the Hassan Piker narrative.
I think she started in April or March.
No one was really talking about her about him until then.
And then that was the seed.
Technically it's Andrew Cuomo started that back in.
the Zoron campaign era. Oh, good point. Good point. Andrew Cuomit and she picked it up.
Yeah, remember he had those, uh, yeah, put it out pictures of his Munker at like a date or something.
Oh, that's a good point. I forgot about that. Yes. Um, but yes, uh, Mallory carried the flame,
we'll say. And, um, and if not for that, I don't know, I think it might have been closer,
but I think because I think what the lesson is, at least with Mallory, is that you really,
you can't just play both sides.
Like you really have to have,
people have to have a sense of like what you're for
and you can't really just play in the middle anymore,
especially in a primary.
Maybe you used to be able to as a Democrat,
but I think Mallory's campaign kind of prove that
if you're not like extremely center left
and you believe in blah blah blah, blah,
and you're not very progressive
and you believe blah, then there's no real lane for you.
Yeah.
No, this is such a weird story for a couple of reasons.
For one, I remember,
I'm getting deja vu
because I remember a few months ago, we covered an almost identical story where a pollster came out, a polling company came out and like announced that the results of their poll was total BS.
Yeah, I forgot the name of it, but yeah, it was median strategies.
They basically made the same announcement.
They're like, oh, that was all a ruse.
We just did a sci-op and all those poll numbers were fake.
Sorry, I don't even remember what race is it pertained to.
Eric Bass and Francesca Hong were the big ones.
They had Francesca hung up by 20 some odd points in the final poll before the election cycle.
and it was completely fake.
Yeah, so I don't really understand what's going on.
I don't really understand like the legality of this.
It seems very bizarre to publish these lies,
pretending that it's actual data being collected.
I imagine there's some First Amendment protection.
You know, they're saying that it was a stunt to do a wake-up call or something,
but it does seem very sketchy.
I mean, to your point, we have a clip here of Nate Silver.
It's very quick.
Yeah, Nate Silver is pissed about this.
Yes, let's watch it.
Hey, we to this.
I said, go fuck your.
yourselves. I hope you're put in jail.
I think it.
I don't know. Like I think
holy shit. That's pretty funny.
And, you know, I mean, I agree with them in a sense.
It does seem, it does seem just like, you know, willfully, intentionally spreading
misinformation and then coming out here to announce that, oh, you know, you got God, like,
this was all a ruse or something.
But I don't really understand the point.
Like, they're saying it was a wake-up call, but I don't think most normal people are
paying that much attention to any random poll.
I don't think most normal people in a state like Michigan are choosing which candidate to vote on based on.
No, no, no.
I mean, no. I mean, no, this had no impact on the primary at all.
Right. At all.
There are a lot of other polls that supported what that poll was saying with real numbers.
So no. There is. But here's the thing. I've worked on campaigns and like, come on, you can make numbers say whatever you want.
You can make them say whatever you want. You poll the right people.
You, uh, you create doing that in Ohio right now.
He just showing him up by four.
It's like that's not true.
No, but so it's like, so okay, so they use fake numbers.
Bad.
But like polls, the polls always come out that, especially internals for campaigns to hopefully shift
the narrative.
Now the difference is is that when it's an independent poll started, it's not coming from
the campaign.
You take that with a bit more with maybe less scrutiny because you're like, oh, these
people have no skin to the game.
And so I think that's also part of why this could shift a narrative more.
But like I'm a little like this is kind of what it is.
Like poll suck.
Pull suck.
And you should just not trust them at all.
And just the discourse that immediately kicked off around this, specifically with the Marlary McMorrow campaign, you know, kind of whining about this, talking about how reporters were calling her up to hound her to drop out.
Like I don't think any reporters were hounding you to drop out.
Maybe your donors were.
Maybe people in the Democratic Party that wanted Haley Stevens to win.
and to absorb your support when they sell your polling lagging.
Like maybe those people were hounding her.
But I don't think reporters were like, you know,
just objective journalists calling her like,
you better drop out.
You see these results?
Well, yeah, they're probably calling being like,
hey, like are you considering dropping that?
You know, like they're probably doing that.
But no, they're not like drop out.
You know, they're probably asking a lot because they're trying to,
you know,
they're trying to get some sort of story moving forward.
It's an awful cycle.
Running for running, running in campaigns, terrible.
Not fun.
I will say this.
And then I want to ask, I have some questions, because you guys know more about this stuff than I do.
But Mallory McMorros, really, I think her original sin is that she did this a year ago before she decided to run for the Senate.
She said, she was like, if I, she was like, if I were to win, I think we need a new leader.
Chuck Schumer can't be the leader of the Senate.
So that's her original sin, because there's no reason why Mallory McMorrow shouldn't have been the establishment pick.
I think it was McMarrow versus Al Sayad.
Maybe, maybe it wouldn't, like, it wouldn't have even been close, you know.
But because Malik Camarro just had no, she had no, she just had no, like, base of support, really, from the establishment or from progressives.
She got an Elizabeth Warren endorsement, I think, early on.
But other than that, I don't think anybody that was of note got behind her.
Yeah.
And, you know, as much as we did make fun of Haley Stevens for a very good reason, you know, her crazy voice, her performative nature.
I do think she has more Riz in her own way than Mallory.
McMorrow. Like to me, Mallory Gmorrow is totally bland. She is just the most forgettable Democrat ever.
For all the issues I have with Haley Stevens politics, I do, I do kind of see why she bested Mallory.
She was growing on you. She grew on you. Yeah, I mean, specifically after, you know, admitting defeat and getting behind Abdul, you know, I was kind of like, you know what, I can see, I can see, you know, why people would, would like Haley Stevens. Like, if she was, if she was, uh, touting the same progressive message that Abdul was, you know, I wouldn't have any problem with her voice or her.
performative nature. You know, I would be like, hell yeah, let's go. Haley Stevens. This trick's awesome,
right? It's just because of the things that she was saying that made it, you know,
cringy and worthy of as much mockery as she received. But I don't think Haley Stevens was a terrible
candidate. I think she was actually a more charismatic candidate than Mallory McMorrow. So that's what
I would say, but maybe you're right about that. I don't know. I mean, I'm sorry. If you got 30 million
in outside spending, you can't win. That's a terrible candidate. Sorry. Fair enough.
Yeah, that's a terrible candidate. All right.
So I just, I have personal, I just have a personal question for you guys, because you'll know more than me.
These folks are in my replies all the time.
This guy, Hutch.
Do you know Hutch?
Or Destiny.
Bullied Hutch out of his lip ring.
Uh, so that's our experience with, with Hutch.
This was a grown man balding with a lip ring.
He's all, damn here 40 years old.
My audience doesn't know.
They don't know.
But this man is bullying me on the internet.
I'm being bullied.
I'm being cyber bullied.
We bullied him right back.
We bullied him right back.
Who is this guy?
Who are these people?
All right.
So TLDR Hutchinson, he was a call of duty streamer.
And he was a professional call of duty broadcaster, not because of this proficiency at playing
Call of Duty.
He wasn't like the best Call of Duty player in the world.
He just happened to be at the right place at the right time making Call of Duty videos.
And then he decided he wanted to get into politics because politics is hot.
And so a bunch of people who like have really no business commenting on politics.
Like Gavin and I have been obsessed about politics since we became friends.
in fifth grade at the lunch table.
No other kids wanted to talk to us about politics, right?
But we've been at this shit our whole lives.
It's a genuine passion of ours, as I imagine it is for you, Keith, right?
Something that you live and breathe every single day.
Well, Hutch comes in and he's like, okay, let me lick the, you know, finger and do a temp check.
And he realized, okay, this is how I can get some corporate money.
I can take some money from these, you know, apparatuses that are there to uplift some
institutional democratic groups.
And he gets in bed with this guy, Destiny, who is a sex pervert, who's literally battling
Allegedly, allegedly, but he's in the middle of the lawsuit regardless, right?
He's in the middle of a sex, yes, a sex lawsuit, yes.
So he's got a lot of unsavory allegations surrounding him.
There's also a ton of video that you can watch of him doing like really, really egregious stuff,
like telling his ex-wife to make him a sandwich with Nick Fuentes, the neo-Nazi,
you know, all this kind of like really cringe, performative stuff.
So that's who Hutch kind of gets along with.
They're like the, I would consider them like the groopers of the day.
Democratic Party, like in-cell guys that have decided that they're going to make their lane,
like, I'm a simp for the most hackish Democrats and corporate Democrats imaginable.
Yeah, I would say it's just a destiny orbiter, to be honest.
That's the, and Destiny, let's explain the, listen, my audience, half of them are 40 or older.
They're mainly, they don't watch any of this stuff, but they should know because I feel like
the next two years, I think that, I think that Democratic Party is going to make.
a terrible, terrible choice and start to engage with these folks. So I think they're going to
unfortunately have a stronger role. So we have to get people ready to know who these folks are.
But anyways, who is that? Who's destiny? I mean, we talk a lot about the Hassan derangement syndrome.
And I think that destiny is patient zero. Honestly, when it comes to Hassan derangement syndrome,
he's really behind a lot of the anti-Hassan talking points. He used to actually collaborate
with Hassan back in the day, you know, five, six, seven plus.
years ago. They had a friendly rapport. But Destiny's totally turned on Hassan and now he basically
spends his days bitching and moaning and cooking up any possible smear to try to make Hassan Piker
look radical or make him look sexist or racist or whatever, basically giving ammunition to all of
these bad faith actors in the Democratic Party and also in the Republican Party who want to do this
whole Gilby Association thing that we mentioned with Hassan Piker. It was kind of started by Andrew Cuomo,
but it's been glommed on to by now everyone in the book and the Democratic establishment,
at least in the right flank of the Democratic establishment.
You know, we've talked a lot about the bulwark,
people like Sarah Longwell and their fixation with Hassan Piker.
But again, nobody suffers from Hassan derangement syndrome worse than Destiny.
And Hutch is probably one of the most loyal soldiers,
kind of a minion, a goon of Destiny on the Internet.
So, you know, I think that's the category I would put him in.
We've debated him a few times.
We've, you know, had sort of beefs back and forth,
but I've never taken him all that seriously.
Yeah, they're like,
They're asking me to debate them and I'm like, why?
Like why?
Like why?
Not worth it.
Like what do I have to gain from that?
Debate you about what?
Like you have no qualifications.
Like what am I to debate you on?
Right?
Like I don't understand what is there to debate.
I thought, you know, I'm just gonna say this because this guy, Wick.
Do you know this guy Wick?
I actually don't know Wick.
Oh, there's some guy Wick in my replies too who's like some, all these fucking streamers.
And, uh, and, and, and,
he was basically trying to say that I'm like I've done a lot to hurt the Democratic Party I'm like bitch I've gotten Democrats elected like I've like done what and like who who are these people anyways so I kind of feel like my analogy is these folks are like Beetlejuice destiny's Beetlejuice you say his name three times he's not going away that man is in my replies nonstop he is just he's like a little like like like a gnat but like I'm like again and it seems like I'm right these guys just don't have any questions.
Now, anyone can talk about politics, and I'm happy about that. That's good. But like, come from a place, ideally, of experience, you know? And it just feels like a lot of these people, as you said, are just talking about politics because it's the thing to do rather than because they care. And unfortunately, it seems like what they do right now is they exist to support and defend power than to challenge it.
A hundred percent. Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, when it comes to like qualifications,
all that stuff. I mean, I don't really get all that hung up on it. Zach and I don't have any
qualifications to talk politics other than the fact that, you know, as Zach mentioned, we've
been obsessed with it for our entire lives. We're horse race junkies. We live and breathe the shit
and we constantly reading and ingesting political media. But it's not like, you know, we're
scholars or intellectuals or that we have any experience on a campaign. I don't have a college
agree. Uh, right. No, but I have campaign experience. But there's a right, but that's totally,
but you are, I guess to your point, though, that you've been doing this a very long time.
Yeah, we have.
qualification and we do pride ourselves on the quality of our analysis but again to me what ultimately
matters is are your takes good are your opinions good and when it comes to a guy like hutch i don't think
they are i think that you're right and i'm not sure if hutch is actually associated with chorus i don't know
if he actually takes any money from the democratic party or any of its apparatuses i don't have any
proof to that effect but he definitely hangs out in the same has taken money and he bitched and moaned
about how people docks him when they produced evidence of that so he has taken money though not specifically from
chorus through other Democratic. Okay. I must have forgotten about that. But either way. I mean,
the point remains. He does the same job that all of these people in that lane do. And occasionally,
you know, they make good points. They make good content. There's nothing wrong with shooting on Republicans,
obviously. You know, I think it's good to have that sort of content out there in the ether.
But in the context of independent media, I do find it problematic the way this this whole kind of
cohort operates, which yeah, it's under the assumption that their job is to do propaganda for the Democratic
party establishment, not to hold them to account, not to call balls and strikes in a neutral way.
And Zach and I are obviously firmly on the left. We're cheerleaders of a lot of left-wing
candidates. And when it comes down to it, we're always going to root for the Democrat almost
10 out of 10 times. You know, we were just talking about Amy Acton in Ohio. She's not exactly
hardcore DSA-type progressive, but I'm still really hoping that she wins and that she
embarrasses the Vake Ramoswami. Of course, we're always going to cheer for the Democrat
almost every single time.
But I do find it really problematic the way this cohort operates
and the way that they shame other progressives
for conducting hardball interviews of Democrats.
For example, like Emma Viglin,
when she had the aforementioned Mallory McMorrow
on a panel and asked some really tough questions.
You know, she received a lot of backlash
from the likes of Destiny and Hutch
and these sort of people for daring to ask tough questions,
for daring to do the job of journalism,
which is to hold powerful people to account
and to ask real questions of people that are seeking
higher office. So that's the issue I mostly have with them. Again, it's the quality of their
takes and the way that they're basically disguising their propaganda as independent analysis
and journalism. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good point. I just don't think they're going to go away.
Like, I think they're going to be, I think they're going to make a devil's bargain and they're
going to, because they don't want to talk to Asan, right? They're like, but we need streamers.
We need to talk to the cool, cool content people. To be fair, Destiny does want to talk to Hassan.
He's been begging and screaming and calling the Son to.
coward for not engaging with him before. Yeah, he's doing the same thing to me.
He's done it a million times. I mean, you can go back and watch debates with Hassan and Destiny from
five years ago where you can see in real time on Hassan's face as he realizes how futile a task it is
to even talk to Destiny, you know, just like, why am I doing this? You know, what is the point?
And that's why Zach and I have ultimately decided not to engage with Destiny beyond just roasting him
on Twitter and mocking him on our YouTube channel. It's because it really isn't worth it.
It's a dishonest actor. Yeah. And he also can only exist. Here's the thing.
This is why he's in the replies of guys like you, Keith, and, you know, obviously Gavin and I've kind of brought it on ourselves.
We've talked a bunch of shit and we've debated all of his lackeys and all this kind of stuff, right?
But the reality is, is all those guys, they can only exist within the confines of the debate me bro era, right?
That's the era that shaped these dudes.
And it was just who's going to have the most bravado, who's going to shout the loudest, who's going to call you the ugliest shit on the internet, right?
And it's just like doing the dozens, right?
It's like some 80s bullshit.
It's like, let's get on the fucking scream and like shout a bunch of insults at each other.
That's not productive.
So Gavin and I, we talk about it.
It's like, if I'm going to have a debate, right, I want it to be with somebody that I think,
one, I'll let change my mind and two, that I could change their mind.
And the other day, we had a really productive debate with a friend of the show, Kyle, right?
And we were talking to him about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for president, right?
And Kyle disagreed with us, and that's fine.
We had to go back and forth.
And I'm always happy to have debates like that.
I'm happy to have debates with people who I know are actually thinking for themselves and doing
all of that stuff. But a guy like Destiny, he has his POV, he has this angle, and he's just going to
mercilessly attack you until you just get tired of debating them and then be like, see, I, he quit
the call. He lost. He's a loser. Yeah, it's just an endurance test with a bad faith actor.
And my thing is like, I'm a coalition builder. Am I a fan of everything, every person on the
center left does? No, but I'm like, I think in order to win majorities you have to have a majority
coalition. And so, but the thing I don't like about these people is that they seem to me to be
very small minded. Like they think that if they, they think attacking other people because they disagree
is how you win. And I don't think that's the case. In fact, like I think I want to be able to be in a
party where we can uplift people like Sarah Longwell, which I guys, I know you guys have a
disagreements with. But I think we need everyone from Sarah Longwell to you guys, to Kyle, to Hassan,
and everyone in between, you know, because I think that is truly how you build a strong coalition.
Now, that's why I love primaries, because that's where we're, you know, you fucking fight it out.
Who's going to win? Who has a better idea? But then what I love about you guys, though,
is you're like, yeah, well, let's fucking go. Amy Acton, okay? Yeah, ride or die.
I'm the same way. I'm the same way. And the thing is, it doesn't feel reciprocated with some of these folks.
And I just think, I don't want to be, I don't want to deal with people like that, you know? That's how I feel.
I agree. Oh, go for it.
I was going to say, I agree with a lot of the sentiment in terms of like average voters, right?
Those people I want. And I want everybody in the Democratic Party, right?
I just think everybody should have a different role.
And I got to give a shout out to our homie, a friend of the show, Francesca Fiorentini,
because one of the ways that she put this, I thought, was so precise and really captured how I feel.
She said, I'm totally in favor of a big tent party, but not everybody needs to be participating in the circus.
Some people need to be working the concession stand.
and others need to be buying the popcorn.
And I think if you spent the first 40 years, 45 years of your life,
saying, yeah, I think the Iraq War was a good idea.
Yeah, I think we should deport as many people as possible.
Yeah, I think that the Patriot Act is good legislation for our country.
I'm totally happy to get behind a guy like John McCain.
I'm totally happy to get behind a guy like never.
Maybe you aren't the architect for the vision of the Democratic Party
and you should be a cheerleader.
So I think it was actually never Trump or,
Republican Joe Walsh making that point with Medi Hassan the other day. So I really agree with that.
And that would just be my response to the broader point you're making, which I do agree with.
For sure. But if not for the folks like Sarah Longwell, Tim Miller and the Lincoln Project guys,
there might not have been a Joe Biden victory in 2020. You know, and I think that ultimately was
a good thing for the country. And so, so yes, yes. And I just think everyone has their, but yes,
everyone has their part. But the thing is, is I try as best I can to just like, you know,
I think we just really, I think in the primaries, it's a great time to.
worked out your differences.
Yeah.
Then when it's like, that's when I'm like, bitch, come on, we're a week and a half.
And I think that independent media is a great place to hash out these disagreements and
these conversations.
You know, that's part of the reason why Zach and I do the sort of content that we do.
And even though we'll roast people and get super angry and, you know, huff and puff and
all that kind of stuff.
At the end of the day, yeah, it is a, it is a spirited debate.
That's what we love about the space.
And obviously some actors are better faith actors than others.
You know, I think destiny is a total scumbag and not really worth engaging in.
But for the most part, you know,
You know, we're more than happy to engage with our more centrist ideological counterparts.
You know, there's a guy, Josiah, who runs a channel pondering politics.
Yeah, I like him.
Yeah.
Associated with Hutch.
They were on a show together, a panel show called Live and Learn.
We've been on that show.
We've debated them.
We've had Josiah on our show.
I think Josiah is a nice guy.
You know, I don't agree with him on everything.
Same with Pisco.
Another member of the Live and Learn panel, you know, we'll go back and forth.
And he'll, you know, take issue with some of our commentary and, you know, insert his perspective.
and we'll go back and forth.
And I love those conversations.
You know, Zach and I really do enjoy debate and we do enjoy discourse.
It's why our whole show is about divides on the left,
you know, dissecting and breaking down these fissures
and trying to make sense of what the correct way forward is for the party.
And we're going to advocate loudly and proudly for what we believe the best way forward is
and for who the leaders of that new party should be.
But that doesn't mean we're opposed to disagreement.
And we welcome it.
You know, again, that's why we, that's why we live in the space that we live in
and why we have the sort of conversations that we have on an almost daily basis,
dissecting these fights and these beefs and these arguments.
But at the end of the day, it is substantive.
You know, it's drama, but it's also extremely substantive, and that's why we love it.
Yeah, well, you guys are very good at it.
We're very good at it.
I'm glad you guys, I guess no one's covering this sort of thing like you are.
And I'm really grateful you guys took out the time out of your busy day to speak with the channel.
And, you know, where can folks find you?
You're going to be collared on this, but how can folks find you?
Well, our show's called The Vanguard.
You can type that into YouTube.
It should pop up,
assuming that the YouTube overlords aren't suppressing our content.
But yeah, just type in the Vanguard.
I think our handle is Vanguard Pod.
Should be able to find us on Twitter pretty easily as well and a few other social medias, I think.
But yeah, it's pretty simple.
We go live and release clips on a pretty regular basis.
Always have a great time hanging out with our audience and catching people up on the latest horse race,
polling stuff as well as drama and beef that's going down in the online left.
If you look at our channel, you'll see mostly the drama stuff that Gavin's talking about.
But if you consider becoming a member or a patron, you'll get all of our hours and hours of horse race coverage, polling coverage, candidate analysis, interviews with authors, interviews with people on the left, all that jazz.
So people are like, oh, my gosh, you guys just do coverage of this.
And it's like, well, that's what's free.
So if you're curious about our deeper thoughts, that's on our Patreon.
And really, really appreciate the time as well, Keith.
Really, really great stopping by.
I thought it was a fun discussion.
And can't wait to chat some more.
Yeah, definitely.
I hope you guys come back.
and let's see what happens a week and a half.
But no matter what, it's not because the Democrats are awesome.
Yeah, no, I really appreciate the conversation.
Let's do it again soon sometime, Keith.
It was great to meet you.
And yeah, looking forward to chatting more in the future.
