Starting point is 00:00:00 You know, for all the things we can be upset about right now during this moment, during this Trump 2.0, I think the thing I'm having the hardest time being upset about is what's happening to the White House itself. I think maybe because it's a building and because, yes, it's awful that all this history is being destroyed. But I think it's symbolic of the things that Donald Trump is seeking to destroy in our country. And it's the things that it represents to me that are a bigger problem and a bigger deal. the fact that he wants to subvert democracy, the fact that he is going after people with no due process, the many different crimes and crimes against humanity that this presidency is undertaking. To me, is the thing I'm more upset about.
Starting point is 00:00:49 But I do want to talk about this White House destruction in this video, because I think it's actually what he did with the White House, to me, is the strategy and tactic he's actually going to take with subverting our Constitution and our democracy. So let me tell you or let me show you what I mean. We have some reporting from Michael Wolfe there. He has some behind the scenes intel on what conversations actually took place around the destruction of the East Wing. Now, as you'll remember, when this all was coming up, Donald Trump said, there's going to be absolutely no touching the original White House.
Starting point is 00:01:33 And here's a bit of that. To take down the existing structure. The way it was shown, it looked like we were touching the White House. We don't touch the White House. That's a bridge at last bridge going from the White House to the ballroom. Then you get into the lobby of the ballroom, and then you go into the magnificent, the main room. So he says, we're not going to touch the White House. Now, of course, we now know that is not true.
Starting point is 00:01:57 And we also have some images from the book. ballroom that show that they haven't even fully thought this all the way through. More on that in just a moment. But as I was saying, Donald Trump said to us that they're not going to touch the White House. Okay. Okay, good. But what Donald Trump said behind the scenes is totally different. Quote, this is Michael Wolf speaking.
Starting point is 00:02:22 They had a meeting and they said, listen, it really would be much cheaper and faster to just chair down the east wing, Wolf said. getting a source familiar with the matter. Rather than weigh the consequences of erasing the 123-year-old building's history, the president's first concern was reportedly how to keep its potential destruction hidden from the public, which he's done quite effectively, most after the fact it was done. Quote, Trump said, this was given to me as a quote. He said, fuck.
Starting point is 00:02:56 We can say that here, we can swear. But can we do the demolition at night, Wolf told, co-host Joanna Coles. So the idea would be Washington would wake up and the east wing would have evaporated, Cole said. Porting to Trump's background as a prominent New York City developer, Wolf noted, quote, that's a real estate developer trick. You tear down, you cannot build back.
Starting point is 00:03:21 So it's a fe accompli. The Daily Beast reached out to the White House. There is no comment. And in the end, as we know, Trump's tear down didn't start under the cover of night, but on the morning at October 20th, a little more than a week ago, still the public was largely kept in the dark about the damage being done to the people's house. And this is an important bit here. By the time White House press secretary Caroline Levitt confirmed that Trump had changed his mind about preserving the east wing,
Starting point is 00:03:51 the building had already been reduced to twisted metal and rubble. The plans changed in the president heard counsel from the architects and the construction company, who said that in order for the east wing to be modern and beautiful in many, many years to come, for it to be a truly strong and stable structure, this phase one that we're now in was necessary. So she totally changed her tune. Wolf argued that Trump employed the same playbook he used to bulldoze through the social, logistical, and political impediments he has faced in the second term to make the east wing demolition happen.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Imagine the outpouring that there would have been if he said, I'm going to tear down the White House, Wolf said. Trump has carried out this leveling without the usual reviews from federal groups like the National Capital Planning Commission, though even that shouldn't be a problem. Okay, and we also now know, too, that Donald Trump has actually just fired that entire agency that reviews his makeover. And here's just a bit of that. The White House has terminated all members of the Commission of Fine Arts, which is tasked with advising the President and Congress and local governments on matters of design and aesthetics. Why would Trump want that?
Starting point is 00:05:03 That commission reviews proposed designs for memorials, government buildings, coins, metals, and privately owned properties in certain parts of Washington as they affect the federal interests and preserve the dignity of the nation's capital. And here is what Donald Trump is creating. Now, we actually haven't seen anything but some renders, like some AI drawings that Trump has put out to the public,
Starting point is 00:05:25 but here is just like one, CGI interpretation of what this could look like. And as you can see, there's their White House here, and then there's this big ass ballroom. Now, there is a problem, as I said previously, with the ballroom and with the schematics, is that here you have misaligned windows, and you also have stairs that literally go to nowhere. That's how much they have thought this through. Now, it could be that these are AI renderings, or it could be that they have hired an architect
Starting point is 00:06:04 that potentially doesn't know what they're doing, or there has been some thought online that this is all just a money laundering front and that there's actually going to be no ballroom. I don't believe that part, but that is something people are saying online. Now, let's go back to my original point, that I think that this, the ballroom strategy, I actually think is what Donald Trump intends to do with his third term strategy. Because what Donald Trump say, Donald Trump said we're not gonna touch the White House, we're not gonna destroy it,
Starting point is 00:06:40 this is gonna be additive, and then they figured out a way to do it while no one was looking, okay? I think it's this very similar tactic here, where we just got audio that came out where Donald Trump said, if you read the Constitution, it's pretty clear, I'm not allowed to run.
Starting point is 00:06:56 And I would say that, If you read it, it's pretty clear. I'm not allowed to run. It's too bad. I made a stupid. But we have a lot of great people. So, I got to tell you, when I heard that, I felt pretty good. I was like, oh, okay, maybe he's actually not going to be insane and he's going to leave.
Starting point is 00:07:13 But then I saw this Michael Wolf story, and I thought to myself, oh, you know, Donald Trump is not very smart. He's not very bright, but he's cunning. He's cunning. And I think what he's doing here is cunning. What he's doing is he's doing is he. is saying one thing, but intending to do another. And I think there's a reason why there's the Trump 28 hats. I think there's a reason why Steve Bannett is going on show saying be prepared for a third Trump term. I don't think it's trolling. I think Donald Trump knows that he needs to have buy-in and he
Starting point is 00:07:46 needs to not give the game away before it happens. So he's pulling it back like it did with the destruction of our White House. But I do believe, and I do believe deeply that Donald Trump, intends to run for a third term or to just stay in power for as long as he can. And why do I know that? Because Donald Trump tried that before. And the best way to determine what someone's going to do again is by looking at their previous actions. Pretty simple stuff. So I think if you hear that clip, don't, I hate saying don't be hopeful, but let's just be clear about who and what Donald Trump is.
Starting point is 00:08:27 He's a liar. He tells people what they want to hear and he quite often does the opposite of what he says. But thank you for watching. If you like this video, please hit like on the video. If you're not subscribed, please consider subscribing and I'll see you soon.
