Starting point is 00:00:00 This spring, denim gets a softer, lighter update. Introducing Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg, a new fit that moves with you. It's everything you want denim to feel like for summer. Easy, breathable, and effortlessly cool. With a fit that creates natural movement and a wide leg that feels modern, not overwhelming. Plus, that signature, wait, for this price, moment. Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg. Does it sound familiar?
Starting point is 00:00:28 Does that sound familiar? It's like they have a playbook. All right, this is a really disturbing story, and I'm sorry to have to talk about this again, but ICE has killed another person. I thought we were past this, apparently not. As the bulwark writes here, he lived here for 35 years. He put three kids in college.
Starting point is 00:00:51 ICE killed him. Lorenzo Salgado Arajo came to the United States 35 years ago, a few years too late to benefit from the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, popularly known as Reagan Amnesty. He worked in construction by the 2000s. He was a small business owner who provided jobs and worked for other men. They would drive to the North Houston, North Houston suburbs, and build houses. His dream was to build his own home for his own family one day, a dream he achieved. On Tuesday morning, Lorenzo was picking up workers, as usual shortly after 6 a.m. when he was confronted by ICE and killed. He was 52 years old. The
Starting point is 00:01:32 shooting in Houston's historically Mexican-American East End community near Magolium Park took place just five minutes from the site of Houston's FIFA fan festival. It goes on to say this. On Tuesday, Lorenzo's day began at 5 a.m. The same way it did every day with a hearty meal prepared by Mom Ronaldo said. But after taking his coffee and loading his work boots in the car to pick up his crew for work on houses in North Houston, Lorenzo was beset by ICE agents and armmarked cars, some sort of confrontation ensued. He was shot. He died of his injuries at the hospital. As Rinaldo wrote this morning, Today is the first day without him for all this. And it's heartbreaking to know that my mom did not make
Starting point is 00:02:15 lunch for my dad for going to work this first, the first time in the 30-year marriage. Now, as you can see here, plainclothes driving Nissan Pathfinders with tinted windows, no sirens, no lights, no markings, Nissan Pathfinders. If I was driving in this area and they started trying to shoot me off the road. There's no reason for this. This puts everyone at risk. This is, this is what we're dealing with again. Goes on to say here, ICE accused Selgado Arajo of ramming an ice vehicle with his van, refusing to follow multiple commands and weaponizing his vehicle by attempting to run the ICE officer over. Does it sound familiar? Does that sound familiar? It's like they have a playbook.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Now, of course, this is not what happened. And he, here is a report. In the past hour, KHU 11 Investigates has obtained new video of the moment before the shooting. This is from a different angle taken by a security camera at a nearby business. Let's get straight to investigative reporter Jeremy Raghalski with what it shows. Jeremy? Yeah, mea, let's first set the scene on Canal Street in Magnolia Park. The white van driven by Selgalo and the unmarked ice vehicle ended up right about here, just east of Wayside Drive.
Starting point is 00:03:30 But before that, video shows ICE pursued it, heading eastbound towards this intersection nearly a block away. Now if you look closely through the trees, you can see the white van followed by the ice agents in a dark SUV. You could see it coming across the screen. Blocking traffic, crossing traffic blocks the view for the moment. Then you can see the ice vehicle appears to try to cut the van off and both vehicles veer off to the side of the road. The white van then goes in reverse, then forward where it pulled over a few houses away. Meanwhile, the ice vehicle makes a three-point turn on Canal Street and then drives forward to follow the white construction van. Now, again, we're going to slow things down for you.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Here's the slowdown version of the moment. The ice vehicle driving on the passenger side of the van appears to cut the van off. Again, this is just one more angle, and congressional leaders as well as Lulak today are encouraging anyone with additional video to reach out. Mia? Thank you for walking us through that, Jeremy. So obviously, I mean, listen, if I were pulled over by an unmarked car, told to get out, the car was driving erratically, driving dangerously, would you trust the person? I would not trust the person in that car at all.
Starting point is 00:04:52 No way. No way. A resident actually dropped her son off at nearby summer school the day of the shooting. And this is what this person recorded. Now I have to say, ice has absolutely no credibility when it comes to this stuff. I do not trust them. It sounds exactly what they said about Renee Good and Alex Prettie. We saw their own eyes that those people did nothing wrong.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Here is a march and rally that was held for Lorenzo. Donald Trump is the head of the Ice Snake. Trump must go. Trump must go. Trump must go. Trump must go. We cannot allow the life that was lost within 20 feet of where we are standing right now.
Starting point is 00:06:16 To be a life lost without justice, without accountability. Donald Trump, Abed, without, without, without, without, Donald Trump, Abbe, and Mayor Whitmire,
Starting point is 00:06:32 and our own city council, they hold responsibility for this. They gave vice go. I'm glad people are speaking out, and I am so, I'm just so, I just feel like how much more do we have to go through? Now, someone made the point here that, that ICE killed someone for making a traffic stop, but let's be clear, this was not a Houston
Starting point is 00:06:59 Police Department conducting a traffic stop. This is ICE conducting a traffic stop, which is not the jurisdiction. So there's absolutely no reason why ICE should be doing that. And I don't know, man, I just feel very sad about all of this. As someone wrote here, Renee Good should still be alive. Alex Preti should still be alive. Lorenzo Salgado, Arajo should still be alive. Ruben Ray Martinez should still be alive. So Vallegas, Gonzalez should still be alive. Keith Porter Jr. should still be alive. They should all still be alive. How much more needless, senseless death do we have to experience from Trump? and I don't understand why the mainstream media isn't covering this. I wish they were. But it's so important that we don't let these stories,
Starting point is 00:08:00 we don't let these stories go unspoken and unshared. So please do if you feel inclined, share this. It isn't to be this video. Just share this story with someone. Make sure that his memory isn't lost in vain. And we're going to keep following this. I do hope that his family or someone decides to sue and make sure that the government pays what is obviously a sanctioned murder. That's so clear that what's what this is.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And yeah, I have nothing. I have nothing else to offer this. It's just absolutely awful. And this sort of thing shouldn't be happening anywhere. especially here, but it is. So the only way you can fight it is with the truth. And so we will keep bringing the truth as it comes to us. Please do hit like, subscribe, and I'll talk to you soon.
