Hello, happy Monday. Yesterday was the Golden Globes. That's right. I missed all the violence,
tension, and lawlessness in the country, celebrities met to celebrate film, which I guess is good.
We should still be doing things that elevate our lives, but it was kind of a very strange experience.
I watched a bit of it, but one thing I did see was comedian Nikki Glazer attack CBS on its own network.
I also have David Letterman coming up doing the exact same thing.
thing on a podcast, and I got reporting on CBS's not so great attempt at evening news under the
Trump regime. First, let's get to this clip from Nikki Glazer, who said this about CBS.
Post-editing goes to CBS News. Yes, CBS News, America's newest place to CBS News.
America's newest place to see CBS News and BS News. I like that.
that actually. Now the reason why she's saying that is because Barry Weiss, the new editor-in-chief
of CBS News, who has no business doing that job, has fired a bunch of really good journalists,
brought in lackeys, brought in propagandists, and because of that, 60 Minutes, as you may
or may not know, actually canceled a segment that was due to come out hours before air.
quote, a press release sent out Friday morning from CBS News publicity team had promoted the story promising
a look inside Sikot, one of El Salvador's harshest prisons. The network ran a video promotion which has since
been taken down on the air and on social media. The announcement cited, quote, the brutal and
torturous conditions. Some recently released to Portees said they endured there. The release has
since been revised. Well, unfortunately, this is just a sign that that place is not being run well,
and they don't know what they're doing because, yeah, they cancel it here to America, but it actually went out and Canada aired the goddamn thing.
The package was distributed via an app owned by Global Television, which air 60 Minutes in Canada.
And the segment, of course, interviewed two people who were imprisoned at Seacot, an executive from the nonprofit Human Rights Watch and the director of UC's Berkeley's Human Rights Center Investigations Lab.
And honestly, I'm glad it got out, but it's also just a human rights.
humiliation for everyone who's working there that's trying to make CBS a place for propaganda,
not a place for news. The reason why this is happening is Donald Trump told him to. He got mad that
Marjorie Taylor Green was on CBS and he had a temper tantrum. He said it was proven that the Trump
hanging 60 minutes correspondent Leslie Stahl, who still owes him an apology for when she attacked him
on the show with serious conviction. And he even said, even with,
the new ownership 60 minutes
Paramount would
he couldn't believe that they would still air
a show like 60 minutes
saying that they are no better
than old ownership. Well they heard
that loud and clear
because they put
this fool in
place of
actual journalists. This man
has absolutely
no reason to be there. His name is
Tony DeCoppel and
I don't know if you know this. He's actually
married to Katie Turr, who's on MS now, an anchor there. I wonder what those conversations at dinner
like, but he is going viral multiple times for the wrong reasons. I played one of the clips here
where they had a really bad technical mishap instead of just like going with the flow. He did
the thing you're not supposed to do, which is show that there was a huge mistake. Now, he's also
getting blasted because, oh my God, he had this sign-off after Renee Goods killing, where it was basically
like it was being compared to in variety. They said it was like a Jerry Springer's final
thoughts sign-off in which the talk show host vapidly, but with feeling exhorted his audience to take
care of yourselves and each other. Here's just a bit of that, and then I'm going to show you how I went
viral in response.
There is so much to say about the last 24 hours, but sometimes what matters most is what is
yet to be said at all and what we all still need to hear. By now, we've all seen the videos.
Renee Good is alive in those videos behind the wheel of her SUV, her three children expecting
mom home again soon. And we've seen the freeze frames too. We've heard the political warfare,
the clashing declarations about what happened. And unfortunately, we know the ending for Renee
good. Nothing is going to change that. Yet what we have not yet heard is one another. I spoke to
people today who haven't slept since it happened who want ice out now, who don't like masked men
on their streets, don't want their neighbors arrested, don't want families ripped apart.
I've heard too, not on the streets protesting, but in passionate notes in my inbox from people
who want to see our immigration laws enforced legally and peacefully and with safety for all,
including the officers who in many cases are also parents themselves.
These are both deeply American sentiments.
But our job now is maybe the most American thing of all.
It's to find a way to live with people who are genuinely different from us,
to try to be fair to them and in doing so to make things better and keep things decent.
Because in America, no one else is going to do it for us.
It's not my job to tell you what to think about what happened here yesterday,
but I can tell you we owe our children a nation that is better than the one we live in today.
Hmm.
Well, who's the one who has created a nation that's worse than it's ever been?
Tony Ducopal.
To this, Tony DeCoppel said, we know it's true.
We all know it's true.
There he is.
And I said, this by the way, it seems you can be a little petty.
My response, 2,600.
I go, bro, it's cringe.
You're acting like you got this.
job because of your talent rather than the fact you were the cheapest one with a wet mouth.
Tony has continued to go over.
Someone compared him to propagandist in North Korea, seeing stopped watching CBS Newsmax
when they bent to kiss Trump's ass for the merger and canceling Stephen Colbert.
I don't even watch my local CBS station anymore.
Well done, Weiss.
I do think one of the most powerful things you can do right now is just cancel Paramount.
Don't watch CBS.
And if you have to watch CBS, watch it on YouTube, or at least they're getting very little ad revenue.
Now, David Letterman has ripped into CBS because of the new MAGA orientation.
And here's what he had to say.
What about those idiots at CBS?
The CBS News is a wreck.
It's just gone.
CBS News for decades.
Going back to World War II, before World War II, they would be, Ed Murrow would be broadcasting the
blitz of London from the rooftop of buildings in London for CBS radio.
And it was that mentality that drove the integrity of CBS News that has been trampled on,
pissed on, and eviscerated by these idiots that have taken it over.
And I'm at a point now where it really is hurting my feelings because I'm sick and tired of people
saying, oh, wait to those midterms.
But kids, we're far downstream with the midterms having any effect on it.
Yeah, I mean, that's true too.
But I can understand Dave's sentiment here.
I mean, they really are pissing on a legacy institution.
And the one doing the pissing is Tony Ducopal, who has been saying things like this.
Now, in this segment, they showed all of these means in Marco Rubio.
And here is what the propagandists had to say.
Many lives and many jobs of Marco Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants and a former Florida senator.
He is now the face of U.S. foreign policy and President Trump's point man on Venezuela, all in addition to his roles as Secretary of State, interim national security advisor, and acting national archivist and U.S. AID chief.
Whatever you think of his politics, you've got to admit it's an impressive resume.
And now, AI memes have added to that portfolio, casting Secretary Rubio as the new governor of Minnesota.
the new Shah of Iran, the prime minister of Greenland, the new manager of Manchester United,
the head of Hilton hotels, and highest of high honors of all, the new Michelin Man.
Now, back in real life, of course, these memes may not add up to much,
but for Rubio's hometown fans, which are many around here in Miami,
it is a sign of how Florida, once an American punchline, has become a leader on the world stage.
Marco Rubio, we salute you. You're the ultimate Florida man.
Ruby, we silly, you know, the ultimate Thorntiman.
Ugh, that's like a segment we do on this thing.
Like, that's a segment we do here, like showing memes.
Your CBS News, what are you doing?
Showing AI generated memes and then, like, fluffing the secretary of state.
Now, as I mentioned, this man did not earn this job.
He got this job because he was the one person that was like, I'll do that job.
Pay me how much? Sure.
Just put me on TV.
That's what he wanted.
He just wants to be out in the line.
And it's never been more apparent than he started crying on his first day in the job when
they went to Miami, I guess, because this is like an old place he used to hang out in.
But he's acting like he earned this job.
This is like this is like the equivalent of like Donald Trump getting a Nobel Peace Prize
from the person who actually won it and thinking that it's his now.
Like you did not win this.
It was given to you for a specific purpose.
You said this is your favorite place in the world.
Why?
Why South Florida and Miami?
Well, it makes me emotional.
It's so funny.
I didn't mean anything.
I didn't think it would catch you.
You know, because you only have one childhood, right?
So.
Sorry.
Sorry.
I will say one nice thing.
He has a nice head of hair.
That is a man with a nice head of hair.
All right.
Now, we have some inside reporting about what's actually happening at CBS.
And folks are saying that it's a total disaster,
a total shit show.
They're big on issuing manifestos and value savings, but they can't even put together a clean newscast.
And one person just said, it's so bad in there.
It's so bad in there.
Well, it's obvious.
I guess the one silver lining is these people are not very good at what they do.
They might have a lot of power, but they're not very talented.
And maybe that could be our superpower.
