That to me speaks to a strong candidate who's going to be able to fight like hell up until November. We had a shockwave last night, the primaries in Michigan and across the country. And listen, no one is expecting it to be this close. And it was, this was close as hell. Abdul eked out of win. 1% of the vote over Haley Stevens. He's winning by about 14,000 votes right now. which is, as I like to say in the industry, not a lot. It's not a lot. He barely won, but he won. He won.

You know who didn't win last night? I'm going to show you this in just a moment. Is a Trump-backed candidate for Congress. He lost against someone who dropped out of the race months ago. I'm going to show you why. But let's get to this first, because this is still historic. Now, there's a lot of people on the internet. saying that Abdul barely won. And I don't think that's the way to look at this. Abdul had $60 million of outside spending working against him. 10 to 1 he was outspent. And yet, still, people wanted change.

They voted for something different. I think that's very meaningful. Now, polling, as we've showed many times on the show, showed that Abdul was winning by as much as 16 points if those polls were to have been believed. They were believed. And I think that's just the one thing fighting against him is if everyone knew that this race was going to be close and he won with all that money spent against him, this would have felt a lot different today.

It should still feel the exact same way. This is an epic success for a campaign with literally everything working. against him. I don't even think about the 60 million. Gretchen Whitmer endorse. Alyssa Slotkin, like every single establishment Democrat endorsed in this race. And Abdul had Bernie, AOC, and the people. And he still was able to win.

That to me speaks to a strong candidate who's going to be able to fight like hell up until November. Now, we don't know what's going to happen in November. We have to make sure we work hard as hell to make sure that he goes over the finish line. But I just want to remind you that Alyssa Slotkin in 2024, she did not win by a lot. You know, I made this point yesterday on Twitter. Did not expect it to be a big tweet. Kind of blew up.

Sometimes these tweets blow up. You just don't know. 400,000 views. Are you kidding me? this? Literally was like in the middle of my bed last night, tweeting this with the one I open. But I said that, because listen, Republicans against Trump, which by the way, okay, welcome to the party, but this is the Democratic Party, said Al-Said is probably still the favorite, but yeah, he's going to have a very tough race against Mike Rogers. Now, Mike Rogers,

if you don't know, he ran in 2024. He lost in 2024. Alyssa Slotkin barely beat him. Now, I said here, Slotkin barely won. It's a swing stake. That's the thing. Like, I don't understand. Like, yeah, it's going to be a tough race. It's a swing state.

That's how it works. It swings. Now, Kamala lost in Michigan, Alyssa won. But, and I don't, I don't want to take away anyone's victory. But Mike Rogers, I just, I just think it speaks to the weakness. of Mike Rogers that with the top of the ticket with an incumbent president who was very unpopular with an economy that was hurting average Americans, Mike Rogers still couldn't win. That to me is what this is about.

And think about this. Abdul is going into an environment where Donald Trump is at 30% approval, 30% of the country, maybe it's 34% of the country approves of Donald Trump. an economy that's tanking, a war that's unpopular, a war no one wants, you think Mike Rogers is going to be able to win when he couldn't win with the wind of his back and Donald Trump at the top of the ticket. Okay. I'd like to see that.

I'd like to see that. But yeah, it's going to be a tough race. It's a swing state. Okay. Okay. Now let's go through this. we have, as I said, a Trump endorsed candidate lost. To someone who had dropped out, Donald Trump's endorsed candidate in Michigan,

a battleground district has eaten the dust of a rival candidate who dropped out of the race to back someone else instead. On Tuesday, the streak ended because every single candidate Donald Trump has endorsed up into this point, has won. Amir Hassan, 40, launched his bid for Michigan's eighth district over a year ago. go, and Trump handed him a complete and total endorsement on true social in July. It did Hassan little good. The president's own supporters flooded the post with religious hate, claiming the candidate is Muslim, even though his campaign site says he's Christian.

In the end, Thomas J. Smith, a retired General Motors engineer, took 50.4% of the vote to Hassan's 33.2, and the race was called for him. He could have been surprised into the mix because Smith had, in fact, walked away from the contest on July 17th. His name sat on the ballot, even though he said he was suspending his campaign. And as I said, Hassan becomes the first Trump candidate to lose a congressional primary at the ballot box. That's very funny. Now, I have this clip here, and you're going to see why this man has negative charisma. This is crazy.

son of a father, a grandfather, a grandmother, our aunt, our uncle that all work for General Motors, son of an educator, protecting America, getting back to the fundamentals and the foundation that made us great in the beginning. That's where we're doing this cycle. The contrast is clear. The time is now. If you love America, make noise. If you believe in first responders, make some noise. You back our military, make some noise. And if you're proud to be a conservative, they said, General Motors. Oh, man, that probably really slapped in his head. But yeah, he lost by a lot. Now, that to me, again, this speaks to something about what's happening, not only Michigan, but across the country. I really do think that folks want change.

They're looking for something different. And we will have to just wait and see what happens in Michigan, but we're going to do everything we can in the meantime to make sure that folks know that Abdul is running and he's running to win. And we have to make sure to get him over the finish line. as well as all the other candidates in swing states. Now, it's going to get mad racist in this election. This is what the NRSC put out this morning on Abdul. Abdul-Ramon Muhammad El-Sayyat, the most radical Senate candidate in America. Oh, pretty dangerous.

El-Sayyed pledged support for the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, a designated foreign terrorist group. He wants to hike taxes on Michigan waitresses, delivery drivers, and seniors on Social Security. He joined a sex offender and a murderer to demand the mass release of dangerous prisoners. And when his ally claimed America deserved 9-11? America deserved 9-11, dude.

El-Sayed refused to disavow. I'm not here to disavow people's views. Abdul-El-Said, too radical, too dangerous, wrong for Michigan. I'll just say that if they tried to do the exact same shit to Barack Obama in 2008, it didn't work. Barack Hussein Obama became the first black president. I don't, this type of stuff doesn't worry me. I think Americans can surprise you quite often.

and even though Republicans are going to play to folks' worst instincts, I just don't think this sort of stuff plays, especially when you think about all the positive ads and content that'll be flooding the zone for Abdul. I just think this sort of stuff feels quite old and it doesn't work in the way that it used to. And to Abdul's credit, he is doing what he can to make sure that he has as big a base as possible to win. Here's what he said this morning after it was called for him in the race. To my colleague and friend, Congresswoman Haley Stevens, we shared a great conversation this

morning. And I know that it was a bitter end to this very long primary, but I also know that Haley brings the best of herself to her work. She is one of the most committed public servants that she'll ever meet. She loves democracy like I love democracy. And whatever differences that we might have had in the primary they pale in comparison to what unifies us, a recognition that so long as we want to keep our democracy, that democracy better be working for people and that all of us have to come together to make sure that we never let Mike Rogers see the inside of the U.S. Senate. So Congress, thank you for your race.

Haley Stevens also did her thing, and she was very gracious, says I want to congratulate Abdul Al-S. on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a world scholar, and a debtor. dedicated in Michigander. I'm proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers and the general election. We need to win the Senate seat because Alyssa Slotkin deserves a partner like Abdul in the U.S. Senate. It's a very nice note. This is a, this turned into a very nasty primary. And this is exactly what we need to do to make sure we have a huge, wide, broad coalition to win this race in November. And Republicans are already freaking out because here is J.D. Vance this morning. Giving

me a little bit of hope. We don't want the next administration, whoever, you know, God forbid, you're going to have President El Saad in three years. We don't want him to undo all the incredible work that we've been doing when we've been taking out the fraudsters and saving the American people money. President Al Saeed, we'll see. We'll see. But one thing, J.D., if it's just not smart.
