What you're looking at right here is Governor John Shapiro's home after it was fire bombed by an arsonist on Passover.
And I have a lot of details about all of this. It's so disturbing. And yes, it appears to be, it was to be politically motivated.
I have all this background around what happened, some information about the person who allegedly did it, as well as Governor Shapiro's very strong response to this terrorism.
First off, let's not mince words because what you're looking at here is someone who tried to burn Josh Shapiro and his family alive in their home on Passover.
When you look at these photos, which by the way, when I first heard of this happen, I've been busy all day and haven't been close to my phone or the news.
And when I first heard about this, I thought an attempted arson, it was just like maybe someone threw a phone.
flame ball at the house or something. I had no idea that the person was successful.
Look at this damage. Imagine if someone actually were to have been in there and unable to get out.
This could have been extremely devastating. And it's just, look at that. The piano is completely
destroyed. The wood is bubbled from the heat. This was, this was a blatant act.
of terrorism. And here's just a little bit about what happened from the New York Times.
Pennsylvania state authorities have arrested a 38-year-old Harrisburg man that they said set fire to the governor's mansion while Governor Josh Shapiro and his family slept,
forcing them to evacuate early Sunday. They were asleep when this happened.
The man identified as Cody Balmer 38, jumped offense and managed to evade state troopers.
after he broke into the building, the authority said, adding that he had used homemade incendiary devices.
He fled the scene and was arrested in Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon, officials said at a news conference.
Mr. Balmer is in custody and is expected to be charged with an attempt to murder, arson, and terrorism as well as he should.
Now, are we going to be surprised by this?
Probably not.
But here are the posts from Cody Balmer, the man who attempted to burn the...
down Governor Josh Shapiro's house with this family.
Biden supporters shouldn't exist, he this man says.
Where were you his first one?
Well, aware of the trash he is.
As for the second, still knew what scum he is.
Now, why did you all forget?
What?
Because he did.
Okay.
And then here he is.
Joe Biden owes me two grand with fire shooting out of his mouth here.
Another meme from Cody.
Tell me, Chuck, what is love?
The feeling of recoil and the smell of gunpowder.
And one more here of him holding a gun pointed towards a camera.
There's much more of this sort of stuff.
Here is a little bit more.
Callow Brunhouse verdict is out and your life still sucks as much as yesterday.
Whether you're happy or angry, shut the eff up.
God damn, you kids are annoying.
So let's be honest here.
This is not a liberal.
Okay?
This is done by someone who is either MAGA or MAGA adjacent.
Certainly, this guy is in a progressive.
And in my opinion, this looks like it was politically motivated.
All right.
Now, here is, imagine your home suffers this terrifying experience.
Your children are scared.
perhaps you're scared
you're scared
your significant other
scared you're thinking to yourself
God I could have lost them all
I don't know if any of you
ever been experienced
crying before my home
was broken into once when I was home
this stuff is
terrifying
it's terrifying
but I only say that
because look at how Josh Shapiro
handled this moment
after he and his family escaped, let's be frank,
escaped death.
I've heard from so many friends and loved ones.
We've heard from so many caring citizens
of this great Commonwealth.
I want you all to know that your prayers lift us up.
And in this moment of darkness,
we are choosing to see light.
We appreciate the light that you have shined upon us.
Pennsylvania State Police, led by Colonel Christopher Paris, will brief on the specifics of what transpired.
But we do know that this attack was targeted.
We don't know the person's specific motive yet, but we do know a few truths.
First, this type of violence is not okay.
This kind of violence is becoming far too common in our society.
and I don't give a damn if it's coming from one particular side or the other
directed at one particular party or another or one particular person or another.
It is not okay and it has to stop.
We have to be better than this.
We have a responsibility to all be better.
Second, if this individual was trying to deter me from doing my job as your governor,
rest assured, I will find a way to work even harder than I was just yesterday for the good people in Pennsylvania.
Here's a third truth.
If he was trying to terrorize our family, our friends, the Jewish community who joined us for,
a Passover Seder in that room last night. Hear me on this. We celebrated our faith last night
proudly and in a few hours we will celebrate our second Seder of Passover again proudly. No one
will deter me or my family or any Pennsylvania from celebrating their faith openly and proudly.
Man, that to me is a leader. That is a leader. I am beside myself that he was able to not only compose himself to, but to be able to speak so clearly and so courageously and defiantly against this act of terrorism. And I'm just going to say this, even though we all know the answer. But I wish we lived in a world.
in which the President of the United States and Governor Shapiro could come together and both say,
this is outrageous, denounce it, and make sure that they do what they can so that Trump supporters
know that this is not acceptable.
It's not going to happen.
That's not going to happen.
But I want to fight for a country where we have leaders, regardless of what part of
affiliation they have, they do denounce this terrorism. But I don't think Trump or anyone else is going to do that.
Nancy Pelosi's husband almost died and they made a joke out of it. So spare me on what they're
going to do with this. But I am behind Governor Shapiro 100%. I'm so grateful he's okay.
And we're going to be following this story because I'm sure this is not the last.
We're going to hear about this.
Thank you so much for watching.
