Follow is continuing as Donald Trump has banned much of the press from covering him within the White House. And now we're really seeing what's happening when the press bansed together. This has never happened before where every single major outlet is saying they're not going to cover the president's trip to the U.N. Now, J.D. Vance was asked about this. And here's what he had to say. Do you think it's appropriate for the president to be banning media outlets just because he doesn't like what they report? Well, I take some issue with the premise. So he's not banning media outlets. What he's doing is. saying, we're not going to give you special access to the White House if you engage in what is effectively propaganda. We have to remember those three outlets account about 92% of the stories that they have

on the President of the United States, on the administration are negative. That's not representative the American people. It's not representative of public opinion. So if you're going to engage in what is effectively far-left propaganda, why would a Republican White House give you special access? Sir, you talked a lot about free speech over the years. How is this not an attack on free speech? Well, they can still report on the Trump White House. They can still get the public reports. They can still, of course, talk to people in the administration and outside the administration. What the president has said is we're not going to give you special access inside the White House.

Now, Vance, remember, he said there, I'm not banning media. He's not banning media outlets. Well, Trump literally yesterday, I am proud and announced that effective immediately I am banning CNN MS now in Politico. He literally used the word. I'm sick of this shit. Now, CNN came out firing. Good for them. They're saying they're going to sue the White House. The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting. Good for them. And the entire press pool is now banning together. And they're doing the following in the White House TV pool, including Fox. NBC, CBS and ABC have backed CNN and will not be covering the president's trip to New York, liming, opportunities for live coverage of several events. Now, Donald Trump made an insane announcement from the White House.

I'm going to tell you about in just a minute that's, I think, connected to all of this. But this is very, very, very unusual. And as I told you, they are moving very quickly to file an emergency motion to temporarily restrain this. I cannot underscore enough how serious this is. I cover a lot of cases. It's very surreal to be covering a case about our own news organization. But this is going to move very fast. And that is because we are filing an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order.

So what that means is we are asking the judge to immediately block this for a period of 14 days, and then we will ask for a longer term block after that. That means that there will almost certainly be a court hearing in this case as soon as this week, where the judge could block this policy and order the immediate returning of the press credentials to the affected journalists. I expect that part of this case to move very, very fast. And I want to take a step back and talk about other cases. You referenced the Associated Press earlier. We have seen something similar to this in the first Trump administration.

The White House revoked Jim Acosta, then CNN correspondent's credentials. CNN filed a very similar lawsuit at the time on the same grounds, the due process and First Amendment grounds saying that it was retaliatory and restricting lawful news gathering. They went to a federal judge in Washington. And I want to note, that was also a Trump appointed judge who granted their request for a TRO immediately. restored his credentials and the White House backed off of the fight after that. The case did not go any further. Now, what's even crazier is that allegedly, this is all happening because of the, what I'm calling the most powerful sugar baby in world history. Natalie Harp apparently is the reason why this ban happened. This is according to CNN. Who, by the way, see? See? You might not be able to

go inside the White House. They can still report on it. I think that's really important for us to remember. even though they don't have access, they're still getting stories out that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. President Donald Trump's close aide Natalie Harp showed him clips of media coverage from last week before he banned Politico, CNN, and MS now from the White House. One source said a graphic from Politico was among the material that is believed to infuriated the president and helped inform his decision to bar the three outlets from the White House grounds. The president also viewed clips from television. A second source said, Trump's president's president. pronouncement, which came after a string of setbacks in the courts and Congress caught many advisors, including those who deal with the press on a daily basis by surprise.

Trump did not point to any particular story or tension point as a cause when asked about it later that day. No reason, he said, when asked about the banning, it's a very simple ban. I don't want them in my office. I don't want them here. I would say the ban would go as far as you can. The president said his frustration stem from a coverage dating back years. It's just really all the stories over the last two years.

you get sick of it. By the time Friday arrived, Trump was frustrated about media coverage depicting the string of setbacks and suggesting he was dragging down Republicans' ability to retain their congressional majorities. Now, the White House, in response to all this, gave out this freaky-ass video. The captions stayed tuned. Well, we stayed tuned and apparently this is what happened. The president's releasing state-run media. There you go. So he's just going to cover. he's going to be his own CNN. This is really insane. The White House posted this. Get real-time updates in live streams directly to your phone. No noise. Just the news that matters most straight from the Trump administration literally propaganda. Literally. Donald Trump's at the following. The White House is not

instituting an assault on the free press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the fake news, something that has grown like a cancer in our beloved United States of America. It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. That's literally Trump. That's, wow. Yeah. It is a threat to our national security and must be stopped. Now, thank you for your attention to this matter, Trump. In response to the banning, here's what Jim Acosta had to say. It's a question of what would you do. And my sense of it was, at that time during the first administration, that the public wanted to see journalists standing up to the bully in the playground.

asking the hard questions and holding our ground. Other people disagree with that approach. They think that we're just there to sort of take notes and do stories and, you know, ask some questions here and there and then go about our business. But when the president of the United States tells lies at the rate that he tells them, you know, we have to ask ourselves, what do we want for a country? Do we want a president? Do we want an administration to turn lies into truth and truth into lies? I don't think we want that. And so it puts the press in a difficult position in that we have to fact check somebody all the time who needs to be fact-checked, but that's our job as the press. And sometimes he's going to, you know, lose control and blow his

top. But that's okay. We have to stand our ground. Be polite. I was, you know, very polite in that exchange, very professional. And, you know, unfortunately, the White House disagreed and took away my press pass. As I was saying, before he played that clip, a Trump-appointed federal judge ruled in our favor and found that the Trump administration at that time had violated my right to due process, possibly violated my First Amendment rights, and Donald Trump is going to find himself in the same position again. No judge is going to say that you can throw news organizations out of the White House. He's put up a lot of gold decorations and paved over the Rose Garden and so on. It's not his house. And the house belongs to the American people. And because it belongs to the American people,

the press in this country have a right of access to go and cover the president of the United States on those grounds. And so he's going to lose again on this. I suppose he could take it all the way to the Supreme Court and find out what happens there. But my sense of it is he's going to lose there as well. Ron Philip Kowski had a really good point. He says no network should broadcast a single Trump advanced event speech or press conference live until his ban targeting specific media companies for their coverage is lifted. At some point, you have to stop limiting. your response to lawsuits and go to offense to defense. Yeah, I mean, listen, I do think Donald Trump, the most online president ever, someone who loves the TV, I don't think he could handle two weeks

without seeing his speeches covered live. I really don't. I think that's probably the best way to get back at him. And if Fox News, ABC, CNN really want to do something to defend the First Amendment lawsuits are good, but I think you've got to fight fire at fire.
