We did it, baby. It's Friday. It's Friday. Poo-poo-p-p-booh! Confetti. And you know what? You know what we're doing? Good news Friday. If it's Friday, we want to bring you good news, especially as we go into this weekend that's going to be a little sad because we're celebrating our 250th. But it's really Donald Trump who has corrupted all of it. So what I want to do is give you some optimism, some hope, something to feel good about as we head into this long weekend. And I do hope that you have a great time.
with you and your family. But before then, let's just first celebrate. Some politicians do
doing some good stuff. There's some good stuff happening in the world. Mayor Mandani, as always,
is showing how it's done. This is how we celebrated pool season starting officially in New York.
That's awesome. You know, I've never, have you ever gone into a pool and a suit? I've never,
I wonder what that feels like. Regardless, it's such a smart way to bring attention to something that's
actually wet rather boring, which is that the pools are opening. It's just smart. Mammani is
constantly showing us what it means to be not only a good politician, but how to show people that
government can still do good things for you. I think it's great. It's absolutely great. Now,
Mamdani was also asked about how he met his wife on Hinge. And then I got some thoughts as being someone
who's on Hinge. What did your parents teach you about love? I think to give all of yourselves to it.
And I think I felt just as in love when I first met my wife.
And I had to kind of just hold it in for a little bit
because I think I was in love for a little bit.
I screenshoted her hinge profile.
No.
Before she even matched back.
Wait, you're like, no, this is my wife.
Let's go back to that moment.
You're on hinge. You see her profile.
I'm assuming you swipe first.
Absolutely.
Duh.
Come on.
Okay, so the moment that you see, you guys are a match.
Yes.
What was your initial message when you slid into her hinge DMs?
Do you remember?
Oh my god.
She had talked about how she loved creme brulee and I was just like, where should we go?
Smooth.
It was something like that.
Smooth.
I was like hands were shaking and, you know, thinking about it for like a couple of hours.
Waiting for her a fly.
Like maybe I should.
I'm very much a romantic and so I fantasize about things that are like weeks and months and years away and will likely never happen.
And then when you meet the love of your life, to actually be living what felt like a fantasy when you first saw their face, it's quite hard.
It's quite hard to believe.
All right.
Well, that just gave me some hope.
I am chronically single.
I am violently single.
I'm extremely on hinge.
I'm not unhinged on hinge, but I am on hinge.
Do you know what the hinge is?
Hinge is a dating app for people, obviously, who are single.
So, and maybe I guess if you're not single and perhaps you're in a relationship where
that's, you get to have extra fun.
But I'm on there and that gives me hope because I, I am trying.
I'm trying the best I can't.
I literally, I'm just going to say this, I'm going to say it.
I literally had a date plan for today.
Someone I met from Hinge.
We made the plan yesterday and he was like, what do you want to do?
He was like, oh, we can hang out Friday night.
Okay, great.
He texts me in the morning.
He goes, hey, so I'm actually going to have a dinner with my friends from 630 to 8.30.
But, you know, maybe we can do something after.
I'm like, excuse me, we made plans.
Like, what?
Tell me if I'm wrong, but I was like, no thanks.
no thanks, not interested anymore. If you want to hang out with me, hang out with me. If you don't
and you want to see your friends, see your friends. Don't double book and certainly don't like
make me feel like the second option. So that's what dating is like. It's awful.
Anyways, I wonder if he'll regret that. Probably not. He doesn't care. Everyone's, everyone's awful.
All right. John Ossoff is rallying, and we love a good, John Ossov clip. And what I love about this
is that John Ossoff reminded us about what America really means, what it really means to be an American,
because I think we're so used to, Donald Trump trashing us, saying how good we used to be,
how we're on the way out of hell, and how things are so bad right now, and only he can fix them.
Well, actually, no, things are actually, they're not perfect, but the thing about America,
we're the best version of what this thing looks like.
when you mix so many different cultures and ethnicities and people.
And John Offsup's going to see it a lot better than I just did.
We're all in this together.
That we're not just one United States.
We're one united people.
E pluribus unum out of many, one.
Hey, y'all, it's Kelly Clarkson with Wayfair.

style every home.
That we're bound together by the same great national spirit that passed civil rights laws,
that defeated fascism, that landed men on the moon.
And see, this is what small men like Donald Trump and Mike Collins will never understand.
That our national greatness flows not through our blood or our genes,
but through our ideas and through our care for one another.
How amazing is it that the most powerful
nation on earth proclaims as its core values that all are created equal with inalienable
rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, no matter how humble our beginnings,
no matter our ancestry, or when we arrived on these shores.
Americans aren't a race.
We're a people united not by ethnicity but by shared convictions and that is what makes
us exceptional and a beacon to the world.
Absolutely. That's, I mean, it's just so important to hear a message like that, especially as we're heading into this Fourth of July. And I know America's not perfect. It's not perfect. But there's something, I think, quite profound about the way this country was formed and what our founders wrote about what it means to be an American. Now, we've never fully lived up to those beliefs. But I think looking through history, you can see that we're all.
always trying our best to strive towards them. And I just love that John Alsuff is doing that
and remembering reminding us what it means to be exceptional in what makes the United States
such a special country. I think it's also like why it's so important that we have a young people
in office. Alsop was how old is he when he came in his office? I think he was like 36. And we now have
a 29-year-old Democratic socialist. Malakiros defeated a 15-term incumbent Diana DeGette
in the Democratic primary for Colorado 01, a first-time candidate and former attorney dominated the Denver
Assembly and tapped into an anti-incumbent sentiment. She was born four months after DeGette First Turk
office. I love this. And here's a little bit of what she said in her accepting speech.
We will not wait to abolish ICE and pass Medicare from...
Not the air horn.
And the genocide in palace.
That, again, that's such a hopeful thing happening in this country.
is that, you know, the Democratic establishment has failed to defend us, has failed to fight adequately
against Trump. And we are now doing something about it. And I love that. I love that. And it's such a
moment of hope that we're putting new, youthful leaders who are willing to fight into office.
Let's switch topics for a moment because Michelle Obama was interviewed and she was asked about
the portrait she has with Obama. And here's what they just said. And you're in the foreground.
You're together there.
Yeah.
It's not, you know, what is often, you're not in the background.
Yeah.
You're right there together.
Well, that's because I married a man who isn't threatened by, you know, having a smart, challenging partner.
And that's also another way to be a man, you know, to lead, you know, to lead and co-lead all at the same time.
and to be good with it because it gets you to become a better person.
So that's a testament to the way my husband was raised and how he sees the world,
but he is not unique.
There are men like that all over the place.
All right.
Are they on hinge, Michelle Obama?
Are they on hinge?
I just need one.
I just need one.
Well, okay, that's good.
That's good.
Okay, not good for you.
Glad you have love in your life.
Okay.
And let's end with this because Tucker Carlson had Chris Cuomo on a show.
I kept wanting to say, Andrew, Chris Cuomo on a show.
And Chris Cuomo, I'm not like a huge fan of Chris.
I mean, I actually don't know much about him.
So I can't say if I'm a huge fan or I don't like him or whatever.
I don't really have an opinion about Chris Cuomo, I suppose.
My opinion on him improved when I saw this clip because he really did the thing that Tucker
Carlson actually does so easily to other people, which is he kind of trapped him by asking questions
about his perceived beliefs around Russia. It's actually very fascinating, and it happened on his own
show, on his own podcast. So I'm going to leave you there with that. I'll let that play, but I just want to
say again, happy Fourth of July. I hope you have amazing time with you and your loved one just because
Donald Trump ruined our celebration doesn't mean we can't celebrate. Okay. And I hope you can find a way
to celebrate what American means to you and in your own life. I'll see you.
soon. Bye.
Emptying the prisons. Russia has a hundred million.
140 million people. But they...
100 million more people. But have you ever heard of us emptying out the prisons?
I mean, why does he have to do that? He's in a desperate place.
Because he doesn't want his citizens to have to fight an unpopular war because he's worried
about his popularity because he wants us to stay in power. So it's easier to send convicts to
the front. They have done this for centuries. I'm a lot. I'm a lot of
against it, but I'm just saying that's the fact. The point is... You think Putin is concerned about
his popularity in a place where he kills all of his opponents on a regular basis? He's very concerned
about his popularity. Really? When he completely engineers the outcome of every thing that happens?
Russia is a very complicated place with a lot of different competing power centers, including the
FSB, which... And how has he stayed in power so long? Because he's really good at politics, and he's
He pays very close attention to what the public things, very close.
He's not the military, just like any country.
It's a, first of all, the, you know how lousy life is there for people, right?
And not just because the economic sanctions right now.
It just has been.
I mean, you know, have you been there recently?
Recently, no.
I've been there twice.
We're not allowed in.
I've been there twice in the last year.
Why are you allowed in?
I don't know.
I'm an American.
A friend of Putin.
I'm a friend of Putin.
Because I believe in seeing things and reaching my own conclusion.
Oh, me too.
I'm just, I'm not allowed in there as a journalist.
I'm sure you could call right now and they will let you in and you should go.
You just wouldn't let me out.
wind up like Paul Whale and you wouldn't be arguing in my case.
But look, here's the point.
No, no, Russia, Putin does not have absolute control of this country and they're all kinds of
potential rivals he's been there for you sound more sympathetic towards him than towards the
lines I mean you just don't definitely more sympathetic to Putin than Zelensky for the following reason
I judge I'm not and I'm not sympathetic to Putin in the sense that I don't want to move to Russia
I don't see Russia as like a close friend of mine at all or a free country or anything like that I'm
just saying I think
It's fair to judge leaders on how they do for their country.
They have one job.
Do a good job for your country.
Make it better.
You think Russia's doing well?
A lot better than Ukraine.
A lot of Ukrainians have fled Ukraine to Russia a lot.
A lot.
Well, yeah, they're under siege right now.
No, but I'm just saying, like, Russia actually for a country at war,
is thriving.
You know, I think it's got deeper problems.
War's not good for any economy over time
or any country over time,
but there's been such a massive infusion
of Chinese investment in...
