It's actually happening.
War is popping up across the world.
We may be heading towards World War III, and there's absolutely no strategy.
And what unfolded yesterday was frankly alarming, to put it mildly.
What happened was so bad that the President of the United States had to release a statement
that contradicted what Israel said, contradicted with our own military.
said it, made a Tim Poole have to tell the truth for once in his life, and he said that this
is an effing, embarrassing, holy shit, it was. I'm going to read you this statement, but let me
tell you what got us here. Israel struck Iran's natural gas facility, they say, in coordination
with the United States. It says here, the Israel Force, Air Force struck a natural gas processing
facility in southwestern Iran. This is the first time Israel struck natural gas facilities in Iran,
which are key to Iran's economy. The Israel official said the strike was coordinated with and
approved by the Trump administration, a U.S. defense official confirmed that. Donald Trump
contradicts that claim. I'll show you that in just a moment. But then this is where the real chaos
started. Several hours later, the Iranians conducted a missile strike on Qatar's,
Ross-Lafin Industrial City and hit energy facilities.
Qatar Energy said in a statement, noting that there was, quote, extensive damage,
but no known casualties.
After the Iranian strikes, the Qatar foreign ministry expelled the Iranian military
and warned against further violations of Qatari sovereignty.
I will say real fast that it is not lost on me that
Qatar bought Donald Trump with a $400 million plane, and this is the things they get,
your economy is getting destroyed.
Now, let me just remind you that it says here, a U.S. defense official confirmed that
Israel said the strike was coordinated with and approved by the Trump administration,
and it was confirmed by government.
Okay.
Now, Donald Trump released this crazy act.
statement. Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out
in a major facility known as South Pars gas field in Iran. A relatively small section of the hole has
been hit. The United States knew nothing about this particular attack. And see, the United States
knew nothing about this particular attack. Okay, that's not what we said. And the country of Qatar
has in no way, shape, or form involved with it, nor did it have it had it had to have a lot of
any idea what was going to happen. Unfortunately, Iran did not know this or any of the pertinent facts
pertaining to the South Pars attack in unjustifiably unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar's
LNG gas facility, no more attacks will be made by Israel, he says, in all caps,
pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Parsfield, unless Iran unwisely
decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar, in which instance the United States of America
with or without the help or consent of Israel will massively blow up the entirety of the
South Park's gas field, and amount and strength of power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.
I do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long-term implications
that will have in the future of Iran. But if Qatar's LNG is attacked, it will not hesitate to do so.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donald Trump definitely did not write this.
That is for sure. I'm going to tell you this. I don't believe on all caps,
no more attacks will be made by Israel is going to do the trick in stopping this escalation.
Now, why this is embarrassing is because this is one of the most flaccid statements I've ever read by an American president.
It shows that we have absolutely have zero control over what's happening here.
The person, Donald Trump likes to say, who has the cards, who has the cards?
The person who has the cards here, the country who has the cards,
it's not us, it's Iran.
They get to decide how this is escalated, how it's de-escalated.
Donald Trump is saying in this statement here that we have absolutely no control over what is
happening.
Laura Rosen said this, the shit is hitting the fan.
Trump blundered into what he thought would be a few-day excursion, as he calls it,
maybe Venezuela 2.0.
That is now what Israel had in mind.
The military has his.
all of its targets. He has no idea what he is doing. His intelligence and other aids were appointed
not to tell him anything he does not want to hear. Not a single one of them can explain what the goal is
congressional Republicans have their heads deep in the sand and now talk of a $200 billion
Pentagon supplemental sending more potential ground troops. By the way, this $200 billion amount,
that's what the Pentagon is asking to continue this illegal war. Democrats are against this.
It's more than we ever ask for Iraq. Just FYI.
And yes, the Trump administration is considering deploying thousands of troops to the Middle East.
Julieta Kiam said after this very consequential night, Trump can no longer stop this war,
and the deployment of more troops is a sign he knows it.
And so just to go back to this statement, someone reported here, contrary to Trump's statements,
senior Israeli and U.S. officials said that the United States had prior knowledge of Israeli.
strike and even approved it in attempt to pressure Iran. And someone right here, total amateur hour
and the stakes could be higher. This is an increasingly dangerous situation for Americans in the
world, and we have no idea what we're doing at the top. Timothy Snyder said he took the greatest
military force in the world in world history, lost a war to a middle power in a week,
begged the world to save him, and demanded that the media lie about this and everything else.
I try, but at a simple human level, I do not see how anyone can mistake this man's almost
supernatural weakness for strength. His weakness is something negative, gravitational, so deep that
it can draw on a whole country, but only if we fail to see it, only if we let it. Such a good point.
I mean, he is, I mean, that's what I said at the top, but he is projecting nothing but weakness,
and Iran knows it, Israel knows it. That's why they're not listening to us, and it's actually
why we got into this goddamn thing in the first place.
It's pretty obvious that Israel's setting fire to President Trump's potential off-ramps.
Feel free to form your own normative judgments about that, but it's hard to deny it's taking place.
And this is what this all means for the economy.
Here are some people who are not very liberal discussing the potential implications.
A disaster for him in many ways.
One way is simply that if the Straits of Hormos does not reopen properly for weeks or months, God forbid.
the knock-on effect in a few months' time
on the American cost of living
of the average American, both at the gas pump,
food prices, and so on,
from that straight and foremost being strangled
for a sustained period of time
could be absolutely unprecedented and horrendous.
Let me make it worse for you.
The 2008 collapse happened
because we had sustained oil prices
over $130 a barrel.
The Western world is not built for $130 a barrel.
sustained. If this goes poorly, it will collapse the economy and not just ours, but of the West.
It is a massive, massive disaster for him in many ways.
And we are looking towards that sustained price, if this does continue.
Trump is going to crash the entire global economy and U.S. hegemony,
the petro dollar forced an emergency transition to neural energy and tank Israel's global
reputation to an irrecoverable level. Is this MAGA? It's not MAGA. Well, I guess it is.
Trump says he decides whatever MAGA is.
Ryan Grimm wondered, wondered this. What I'm wondering is whether there is anyone in the
leadership of our country who feels any responsibility for anything. We all just,
along for whatever ride Trump is in the mood for every day.
It's a great question.
I don't think there's a real answer, but to go back to that oil problem,
oil analysts are saying they wouldn't be surprised if oil went to $200,250 a barrel.
If that happens, the economy will stop.
No one will leave their house.
The cost of everything will go through the roof, dinner, food driving, forget it.
I mean, already gas is high, right?
we're seeing that CEOs of airlines saying the price of tickets are going to have to go up
to offset the price of gas, there's going to be a whole trickle effect from all of this.
And for what?
For what?
There was absolutely no reason for any of this to happen.
Now, I've also read that the World Health Organization is preparing for potential nuclear
strikes. So I guess my like what like where where are leaders? How do we how do we allow Donald Trump
who was a narcissist to feel like he won so we can get out of this? There is no real winning in
this. The only the only hope we can have is that Donald Trump feels like he wins so that
he can save his ego, which is the only thing he cares about. And hopefully
we can have the world
return to some form of
normalcy, but we'll never
have full normalcy until
we get Republicans out of power
and we start to go after
the corruption that led us here.
But this is a very scary time.
I'm not
often very worried, I guess.
I don't often very
worried.
This is worrying.
If you're not worried,
I don't
don't think you're paying attention. It would be nice. I wish I didn't pay attention. I wish I was just
like someone who watches Netflix and hangs out. But when I was reading about this, there is an,
I don't know how you feel, but I have an intuitive sense of, oh shit, oh shit, it's going to get even
worse. I hope not, but I don't see how we get out of this. But I think the one thing we can do for
ourselves in moments like this is at least acknowledge that it's bad and that it's okay to be feeling
anxious or upset or scared or worried and so if you are feeling those way that way one of course you
of course you are and you should be two it's going to sound maybe i don't mean to minimize this but
you have you have to find things in your life that are going to make you feel better we can't
live in constant terror. So whatever that looks like for you. Maybe going to a movie, going for a walk,
being with loved ones. Eating, I had a sugary food yesterday. That felt great. It was a momentary,
momentary respite from all of this. But whatever it is, do take care of yourself because Donald Trump's
not going to be taken care of you. So look out for yourself. We need you to be strong. We need you to be
ready for when the time comes.
I'm not asking you to be fearless.
I'm asking you to feel your fear,
but let's walk through it together.
Because we will get on the other side of this.
We will.
Probably not tomorrow, but we'll get another side of this.
And so we need you for the marathon.
Okay.
So take care of yourself.
I'll see you soon.
