Starting point is 00:00:00 There's some really big news. Gavin Newsom has won. He's won. He fought Donald Trump and he has one. I got to tell you, this is what I'm talking about, baby. Supreme Court clears the way for California voting map. As you know, Gavin Newsom made this a really top priority that he wanted to fight fire with fire, that if Texas was going to do a midterm, if Texas was going to do a mid-decade redistricting to help Donald Trump at the behest of Donald Trump, then California was going to fight fire with fire. And it turns out at work because the Republican Party, had sued California and the Supreme Court, as it says here, cleared the way for California to use a new congressional map designed to help Democrats of the midterm elections. The justices rejected an emergency request by the California Republican Party to override a federal court and block the map before the November vote. The decision is a victory for Democrats. Honestly, how often have we heard that? the Supreme Court decision
Starting point is 00:01:00 is a victory for Democrats. Can we just meditate on that for a little bit longer? Let this not be the first time that there is a decision from this Supreme Court that is a victory for Democrats and let it not be the last
Starting point is 00:01:15 that this be the decision from the Supreme Court that is a victory for Democrats. Anyways, Democrats who had devised the plan after President Trump pushed Republican-led states to redraw their maps to help the GOP pick up seats in the election.
Starting point is 00:01:32 The unsigned order did not include a vote count or the court's reasoning, which is typical in such emergency decisions. Donald Trump said he was entitled to five more congressional seats, Gavin Newsom said in a statement on Wednesday. He started this redistricting war and he lost and he'll lose again in November. Gavin Newsom also had this to say. Give me a break. It's 1930s all over again.
Starting point is 00:01:59 How is anyone? And how is this not? How every night you should be running reports on this? The music and the recruitment ads, H.H. In their ads, all the propaganda coming from Christine Nome's DHS, how they're recruiting folks. Because the way this guy's, this is serious. That's Greg Bevino leading the charge. Even Donald Trump said, maybe this is too much.
Starting point is 00:02:27 But he didn't fire him. He just sent him back to where he came from. So yes, I'm concerned. You think he's reformed or changed? Now, Gavin Newsom was very much so gloating as he should. He wrote here, you cannot spell Republicans without an L. He also said here, a massive win for California. And he said one more fuck around and find out.
Starting point is 00:02:53 That's a big deal, as Harry Enton on CNN said. Donald Trump made huge gains in 2024 versus 2020 in New York, but now we're looking at a huge Democratic rebound. What are we talking about here? Okay, so you go back, Democrats' margins in New York. In 2024, Kamala Harris won New York by just 13 points. Not a very wide margin at all, but take a look here for New York. Look at how the House Democrats or Democrats going for the House of Representatives
Starting point is 00:03:20 are polling now for 2026. Look at that wide, huge advantage. That is doubling the margin that Kamala Harris had back. back in 2024. They're up by 27 points. And of course, there are a lot of Republican representatives in New York. You know, talk about Mike Lawler up on the Hudson Valley, right? When you see numbers like this, you have to be really worried if you're Mike Lawler because we're talking about a huge Democratic rebound in New York. And oftentimes Democratic majorities are built on states like New York eliminating the few Republicans that actually represented in the House. Right. I mean, I am
Starting point is 00:03:52 all about that. Wouldn't it be nice? Wouldn't it be nice? If there were no Republicans in the state of New York, Michael Lawler out, now these are not actually the worst ones, but Nicole Meliotakis, I think is her last name. 2018, we actually had a Democrat in the House who represented Staten Island. Staten Island is represented by a Democrat.
Starting point is 00:04:17 So crazy things can happen when there's a big blue wave. And as I said at the top, like the fact that this happened, that the Supreme Court sided with Gavin Newsom means that we are much more likely to see Democratic control of the House in November. Let's keep going. Many Republicans as possible from the House of Representatives. Take a look here. Kamala Harris, again, she won, but this is actually a relatively small margin for Democrats. She won by 20 points out on the West Coast in the big state of California. But take a look at the 2026 House polling.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Again, Democrats, a big rebound. This looks a whole heck of. of a lot more like 2020 than it does like 2024, with Democrats up by 28 points on the House ballot. Again, this is the type of thing that can help aid a Democratic majority. As I said, you go back to the big Democratic way, is 2006, 2018. Those House majorities were oftentimes built
Starting point is 00:05:12 on getting rid of those few Republicans that exist in those big blue states. And this is the type of number if you're Democrats, you're giving two thumbs up for, because this looks like the type of number you want if you want a Democratic majority in the House. So, and that is, again, this is before redistricting takes place. So they're going to redistrict, and they're going to make it so that it's going to be even harder for Republicans doing it.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Now, one thing I like about the redistricting thing that Newsom enacted is that it's temporary. So voters, one, voters voted on it to make it law. And two, it expires. Because my one thing is, is when you give a party more power, it's actually quite, hard to take it back. And I think we actually would all benefit from congressional maps that are done independently, where they actually have to, imagine this, Republicans and Democrats have to actually fight for representation in the general election. Right now, most congressional seats are not swing districts. Most of them are either heavily blue or heavily red, and that actually leads to extremes.
Starting point is 00:06:23 You get the most extreme type person to win the primary and then they don't have to worry about a challenge in the general election. Ideally, we'll get to a place where this sort of stuff isn't necessary anymore. I don't know how we get there, but that would be my ideal. Now, I want to just change gears because we also heard today that this is a very strange story to talk about. But I feel like, I just feel like some people have found their mojo because Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton are in the Epstein files. They have, there's photos of them. And Republicans have been trying to get them in a congressional, trying to get like a congressional testimony from them with penalty of perjury. And what they're going to do, they wanted to just like have like, a camera, get a deposition and do it behind closed door.
Starting point is 00:07:19 And here's what Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton did. It's a Fox News Alert. Fox News Alert. Bill and Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee. This is part of its investigation in a Jeffrey Epstein. So the former first couple agreeing to appear under threat of contempt. They've been going back and forth for a couple weeks now. Here's the chairman of that committee, James Comer.
Starting point is 00:07:44 This will be their third date that we've given the Clintons. and three strikes and you're out. The votes are there for contempt. I think the Democrats, I think there are Democrats that will vote to hold him in contempt if he missed it, if the Clintons missed this next date. So we're hopeful that they'll come in. So now Hillary Clinton will testify on Wednesday, February 26th. The former president appears the next day on the 27th.
Starting point is 00:08:10 As of now, we don't think it'll be public, but stay tuned. It could always change, I guess, right? It's the first time lawmakers have compelled a former, president to testify. Well, they sent out a statement saying, like, if you're going to make us do this, then we're going to do it not in front of one camera, but in front of thousands. So they're actually pushing for the fact that they would prefer to do this publicly. And I think, please, God, let it be public.
Starting point is 00:08:34 It'll be such good entertainment and good on them for calling their bluff. Because if you got nothing to hide, then you hide nothing. And I'm glad that they are doing the hearing. And hopefully, it shows what they're going to talk about, the stuff that Donald Trump doesn't want to hear, and I look forward to it. But it's a good day for the good guys. Talk to you soon.
