Starting point is 00:00:02 You don't want it. You don't need it. But you're going to get it anyway. The Kevin Sheehan Show. Here's Kevin. Tommy is back. And feeling better and sounding better. I am here.
Starting point is 00:00:16 The show's presenting sponsor, as always, Window Nation, 86690 Nation, Windonation.com. You got it pretty good last week, didn't you? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, it developed into full-blown bronchitis. I'm sure driving back from Florida didn't help, you know.
Starting point is 00:00:39 The energy, it took the drive, you know, 16 hours back. I didn't do all the driving, you know, we split it. But, and I went in Monday, saw a doctor, gave me all kinds of meds. And I'm feeling better, but I don't think the cost's not going anywhere. And I don't think it's going anywhere for a while. You know what? I had that residual cough from what I got over the holidays for like a month. I mean, the only reason you people didn't hear it is I have a cough button.
Starting point is 00:01:12 And I can, I'm going to tell you, a couple of the shows during that week or two after I kind of got, you know, bronchitis, the flu, the whole thing right before the holidays. It would take me, it would take me two and a half to three hours to edit the show when we were done. to get, you know, all the coughing out of it, because you don't want that. That drives people nuts, you know, but you sound much better. You know, I told everybody on Tuesday that you wanted to go again, but I listened to you, and I said, nope, you are on temporary IR, which Trey Young is coming off of tonight. We'll talk about that at some point.
Starting point is 00:01:53 But I'm glad you're feeling better. And you are home. Yeah, I remember, remember I did the show on Thursday from Florida. from Florida. Yeah. And at the end of the show, you said to me, I feel so bad for making you do that. I did.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Because I sounded so bad. Well, you had said to me, I don't know how much I have in me for today, and I said, well, keep it short. And then I kept going because I wanted to knock it out. It was a short show. It was under an hour. But at the end of it, I could tell that you were out of gas completely.
Starting point is 00:02:27 And I did say, oh, my God, I feel awful. we should have just done one segment. And then I didn't hear from you because I did text you a couple of times and even called you to see how you were doing. And I didn't hear from you. And just for a brief moment, I think on Monday or Tuesday before I finally reached you, I'm like, uh-oh, I wonder if he's still with us. But I'm glad you are. I'm glad you are and feeling better. And anyway, you didn't miss much.
Starting point is 00:02:58 And you're back just in time for all of the NFL news that's breaking every day and free agency starts, you know, really on Monday with the legal tampering. And next week's going to be a very, I think, interesting week. And I want to actually start with just an email from my guy Yale who wrote and said, You stomped on the headline. We knew about Terry. we did not know that they were targeting an RB1, as in running back for number one, of first team running back. Will it be love or free agency, meaning Jeremiah love or free agency?
Starting point is 00:03:43 Yes, so Tommy, yesterday I read from a story that Matthew Barry from NBC Sports wrote after the combine. And Matthew Barry is a big skins fan. He's been that fantasy football guy. I actually went and looked to see if I had him in my phone because I was going to call him and I don't. So I have a feeling I've never had him on the show. And the reason for that would be he was primarily kind of a fantasy football guy. But anyway, he reported a couple of things. Number one is he doesn't expect Ebo Samuel back.
Starting point is 00:04:17 And then he got into, you know, he had a source tell him that don't be surprised if Terry McClorn's not back with the team. team after this upcoming season. And don't be surprised if they take Carnell Tate, the wide receiver from Ohio State in the draft because of that. And to Yale's point, that wasn't like a big, you know, revelation. Terry's contract that he signed set up for last season and then this upcoming season being his final two years, unless he played at a ridiculously high level and appeared to be ascending. you know, which they didn't expect. And of course, last year he was hurt, and he could have a big year this year.
Starting point is 00:05:02 But the other thing that Matthew Barry reported, and this is what Yale is saying, that this was actually the thing we didn't know. And you're right, Yale, we didn't know this. It's a good point. He reported that Washington wants a thumper at running back. and by that, I mean a true early down star running back. They felt like once Austin Echler went down last year, the run game struggled. They think Chris Rodriguez is a nice back, but don't like him in the passing game.
Starting point is 00:05:39 And they clearly found something with Jacori Kroski Merritt, aka Bill, but think of him more as a two or a three than a true leadback. my guess is the running back who leads Washington in touches next year isn't currently on their roster. So you know what? You're right, Yale, that is the headline because we did know. I said on Monday, Tommy, that I kind of had a strong hunch that they were not going to re-sign Debo. Unless it comes much later and there's not the market out there for him, but I think he's going to find another place to go to.
Starting point is 00:06:21 And we have known about the Terry contract more likely than not being, you know, a true one-year extension and two years left when he signed it last summer. But the running back thing, you know, it's so funny because when this season ended, I think every fan would say, offensive line, we don't have to worry about it. And you know what? Running back, we don't have to really worry about either. And yet, the center is gone. By the way, that happened while you were out. Tyler Biotish got cut.
Starting point is 00:06:54 And Chris Paul is likely to hit free agency and get a pretty sizable deal, which is why the team has extended Allegretti, resigned Andrew Wiley. By the way, more news since the podcast yesterday. Dietrich Wise stays on a deal. They loved him last year before he got hurt in week two or week three. and Drake Jackson, who they picked up mid-season from San Francisco, was re-signed. But I would have been fine with the running back room, Chris Rodriguez, Jacori Kroski-Mert, Jeremy McNichols coming back,
Starting point is 00:07:33 and them not adding to it because there's so many other areas that are more priorities. But I think they're going to look for a running back. I mean, Matthew Berry thinks so, and there has been a lot of talk about running backs It's very deep in the free agent class this year for running backs. And then at number seven, they could be sitting there with the defensive guys gone and Jeremiah Love on the board. So, I mean, I have some ideas on this. I'm assuming you don't have many. Well, I have some directional philosophical idea.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Okay. Give me your philosophical and directional. is. Well, first of all, I think defense should be the number one, number two, and number three priority. Okay. Okay, like I've discussed before, if Jaden is healthy and the quarterback, we believe he is, he can carry, as we've seen, a lesser talented offensive skill team, you know, offensive skills players. He can make them better. Okay. there's nobody on defense that can do that. Okay, they need talent everywhere pretty much on defense.
Starting point is 00:08:57 And if you want the new defensive coordinator to get off on the right foot, you've got to give them the ability to put players on the field. So, you know, again, how many businesses are there? And I don't want your answer because you'll make something up or come up with some. How many businesses are there where you need to, acquire equipment to get better, but instead of getting equipment
Starting point is 00:09:24 you need, you get equipment that might be better than the equipment you have. There's not many like that. Okay, football, drafting football is like that. I still think it's ridiculous. If all the
Starting point is 00:09:40 quote, top defensive players are gone by the time seven comes around, then it's next defensive player up. Okay, so I don't even tell me about the next defensive player up is a player they don't think it's going to be very good.
Starting point is 00:09:58 There's got to be somebody. Why? Why? Why does there have to be somebody? Why? Why? Well, there has to be. Don't be ridiculous. Do you know that this draft now, you know, for whatever it's worth, because they get it wrong on drafts all the time.
Starting point is 00:10:16 This draft, I've seen as few as 11 first round, true first round grades by different analysts. They say this is a draft with maybe the fewest number of true first round grades in recent memory. There will be 32 first round players selected, but players that they deem to be, you know, after analyzing the field here, like I've seen it's the fewest. I've seen somebody say there may be 11 true first round. players in this draft. So whether it's this year or another year, of course, there is a possibility that the player that you want, that you would, you know, say draft by need, draft by need,
Starting point is 00:11:01 we need defense. And the four best players that they have that they think are going to be great or gone. And then they've got an offensive player that they think is going to be unbelievable. And their next defensive player is like a coin flip. Like they're not really sure. He's okay. What do you want them to do? But there's a good chance that the next five defensive players that they think they might have are better than anyone they've got on defense now. That's true. That may be true.
Starting point is 00:11:31 See, we get into this argument every year. I just, we'll just disagree for the remainder of time. They have so much available cap space. they should be addressing needs in free agency. Because in free agency, you've got a better chance to pick players who are knowns, not maybes. The draft is always going to be a maybe. Even when they're picked super high, it's a maybe. I want to pick the best player available, the best maybe when we get to late April.
Starting point is 00:12:10 I want to address needs in free agency with all the cap room that they have. Okay. Okay. You know, if that's a strategy and they can do that. That is a strategy. It's a strategy every year. If that's their strategy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:25 And they can do that and there are free agents available that will have a defensive impact. Okay. That's fine. Right. But, I mean, I just think that the defense just has to be. he's such a priority. And I think, you know, I think the offensive skill positions, look, I'd love to have a guy like Kenny Walker.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Okay. As a running back, he becomes a free agent, which sounds like he may, right? Yep, he is. They didn't tag him. He's a free agent next week. So, I mean, that's a game changer guy right there. but I just tend to, I just, I would just, I'm just hoping that they concentrate on Dave. You know what's interesting about this whole process?
Starting point is 00:13:16 And in my feverish moment over the last week, how high did the fever get? How high did the fever get? Well, I never actually had a fever. Okay. I never had a fever. But I felt cloudy, like my head was filled with. Yeah, but that's a normal day for you.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Fogier than normal. Okay. So what came through clearly in your foggiest of days? These whole discussions and what fans want is really, like fans want Adam Peters to think like them. Oh, God. It's so bad. Don't they? They do.
Starting point is 00:13:55 They want Adam Peters to do what they want to do, which means think like them. even though they have no experience other than sitting at home and this is the guy that they hired to run the team but they want this guy who run the team to think like them it's so insane
Starting point is 00:14:19 and it's not just in football it's in all sports now I mean we are much more than when I mean then decades ago we are much more obsessed as a fan base with our so-called knowledge of personnel than we did when I was growing up
Starting point is 00:14:38 or not even when I was growing up when I was just, you know, not much younger than I am now. So you've got the general manager whose job it is to spot talent, but you want him to spot the talent that you want. I mean, I think this time of year is just a lot to handle from the fan side. And by the way, from the media side,
Starting point is 00:15:11 I've said this a million times, I feel like over the years, and already probably a dozen times over the last couple of weeks. This time of year, you know, especially draft talk, is Adam Peters gets paid, what, is he getting $8 million a year, $7 million a year, whatever it is. And, you know, he's going to get two out of every three wrong. And yet the internet thinks and social media thinks they can do it better.
Starting point is 00:15:43 They can cook better than Adam Peters. Oh, that reminds me. I've got two things that I've got to read to you. I think I read this one on yesterday's podcast, maybe, or maybe yesterday on radio. Bernie wrote me, really hoped to hear you do. Oh, because I was off on radio on Tuesday, so he sent this to me. Really hoped to hear you do a Maya, really hoped to hear you do a Mayaculpa on the Latimore trade. Hope you don't forget when you get back.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Big miss by your boy AP, as in Adam Peters. Hope that benefit of doubt is fading for you. So Bernie emails me quite often, and it is typically very negative during the season. and then, you know, during the off season, he gets a little bit more positive. But I was in favor of the Marchion Lattimore trade. I 100% was in favor of it. And I would guess that most fans were as well. But what Bernie didn't expect me to do because he emailed was to be able to go back
Starting point is 00:16:48 and search for some of his old emails. And I found this beauty from basically the day or a couple of days, after the Marchand Latimore trade. He wrote, Kevin, this is so much better than selling players. Adam Peters pounced on a player that might be the difference between playoff wins and a one and done. Let him cook! Exclamation. It was perfect.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Perfect. And, you know, it goes hand in hand with what I've been saying. We're only five months, literally five, six months, moved from the entire fan base and the the meme let AP cook because they were so, you know, pleased with what he had been doing. I did also get something that I want to, oh, here it is. Jared tweeted me, Kevin, enjoy the show. I've been listening to you for over 20 years.
Starting point is 00:17:50 You would have been fired as a general manager probably five times by now. No one, Stefan D. Having two 32-year-old wide receivers is not ideal. This obsession with old guys with you is fascinating. So we did a segment today on radio, yes or no, on Stefan Diggs, who became available and is from here. You know, went to good counsel, went to Maryland. And by the way, would make this team better next year. Let me just, I talked about it briefly on the show yesterday.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Stefan Diggs would make this team immediately better on offense next year. He was incredible this year, per usual, 85 catches over 1,000 yards. He's still a very difficult receiver to cover. But I thought that was funny. The interesting thing about Jared's tweet is, I don't know that that's actually been my go-to older players. But there's no doubt all of us would have been fired many times. We'd been a general manager over the years.
Starting point is 00:18:58 But the older players that they signed in 2024, Bobby Wagner, Zach Ertz, you know, Austin Echler to a certain degree, they were the ones that were most critical to their great season in 2024 after Jaden. You know, like it was Bobby Wagner who was incredible. He was an all pro. Fowler Jr. had 10 and a half sacks. Zach Ertz was the go-to guy, especially on third down. Austin Echler, they were a much better team.
Starting point is 00:19:32 So I'm not fascinated with older players necessarily, but a guy like Stefan Diggs at 32 years old going on 33, the year that he just had with a young quarterback Drake May, on what would be a one-year deal, probably very little risk. Yeah, I would be interested as long as legally he's going to be eligible because he's going through all these things. But back to your point, it's a tough part of the year because it's so much none of us know.
Starting point is 00:20:05 The teams don't even know. The teams will even tell you free agency is a bit of a crap shoot. Will it be the right fit for our scheme? They at least have a better shot with free agency because there's a pro track record. You know, and in many cases, they know the person. They know the player. But the draft, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:27 But let me just say, back to running back. Let me answer the Yale email. So if they end up adding a lead back, I don't think it's going to be Breece Hall, who's been tagged, so you can count him out. I don't think it's going to be Kenneth Walker the third. I don't think that they're going to spend that big for a running back. You know, a Travis E.TN.
Starting point is 00:20:53 I mean, I like him maybe too much money. For me, there are two guys that I like a lot, and I think would be better than what they have, one guy in particular, and definitely a thumper, as Matthew Barry wrote, and a lead back. I'm a huge fan and have been since he came out of college of Tyler Algier. He has been with Bijon Robinson in Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:21:18 I think he starts for half the teams in the league, and I think he could be a 1,400. 1,500 yard back as a lead back. He's available in free agency. And I also really like Rico Dowdell. That year he had in Dallas before going to Carolina, he's become a bit of a thumper as well. So those two backs, you know, I think I've mentioned these two guys before,
Starting point is 00:21:44 along with like a Joanne Jennings at wide receiver and a chigga, a Conquo at tight end. You know, these are the kind of guys offensively. And Tommy, believe it or not, they do have some needs offensively, not as much as they do defensively. I'm with you. Defense, defense, defense. They've got to add three to four starters and another two contributors.
Starting point is 00:22:07 You know, they have to add five players to their defensive roster that contribute in a big way, if not start for them. But I like Alger, I like Dowdell. I would like Dobbins like I did last summer. because you could have gotten him for nothing and he ended up playing really well for Denver, but he got hurt again. Kenneth Gainwell is out there. He's, I love him, and he's a versatile back,
Starting point is 00:22:34 but he's not Alger as a thumper or even Dowdell as a first downback. Those are the guys. Now, if they got Kenneth Walker the third, he was one of my favorite backs coming out of that draft from Michigan State. He's a Super Bowl MVP. I just see it being a lot of money, and I personally think there's a good chance at Seattle re-sum.
Starting point is 00:22:53 finds him. Algear Dowdell, two names that would be affordable. And look, Kroski Merritt at the end of the year, that run against the Cowboys on Christmas Day was a big run for him because he had not broken a big one all year long. He was so close, you know, a half dozen to a dozen times. and he hadn't done it until Christmas Day when he went 72 yards, you know, for a touchdown. And that showed me something there. He's got great vision. I think he could be a really good back, especially in the scheme that David Blow will, you know, have next year run-wise. And I like a lot Chris Rodriguez.
Starting point is 00:23:41 I think Rodriguez could be a thumper like Algier or Rico Dowdell if he got those opportunities. but maybe they don't like them in the past game. And I think in some cases, it's less about his receiving ability and more about his protection. But running back, yeah. It's going to be interesting. I like those choices. I like both of those guys.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Tyler Al Jir, Tommy, God, man, I just, when he came out, I was advocating that Washington take him. They needed a running back. and I just thought this guy literally at BYU was you couldn't tackle him. I mean, in games against USC and some big time opponents, could not tackle him. And he's been all that in the pros. It's just that Bijon Robinson's been there. So he's been, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:33 Bijon Robinson is probably pound for pound the best running back in football. He led the league, you know, for running backs anyway in all-purpose yardage. And I think Alger can definitely. be a pass catcher out of the backfield. I think he can be versatile. And I don't think he's going to cost what Walker or E.T.N. will cost. Go ahead. Sorry. No, I don't think he, I don't think you would either. I think those are good choices. Let me just get back to Lattimore for a minute, because I think people forget. I know last year was a horror show defensively, worse than the year before.
Starting point is 00:25:12 But let's go back to that year before when they're competing to make the playoffs. And it really seemed at some points in the season like they were operating with 10 men on defense. That was the atmosphere. Yeah. I mean, it seemed like a helplessness, a helpless atmosphere that they needed to address defensively
Starting point is 00:25:36 in their past coverage. And that was the atmosphere in which the Latimore trade was made. There's a lot of revisionist history going on on the Latimore trade, no doubt. There was a feeling of salvation. Oh, my God, you know. I mean, this is our salvation because it felt helpless. You know, with Benjamin St. Juice out there, it felt helpless. Yeah, manual forms.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I mean, so everyone, most people, and I was on board with it, you know, this is filling a desperate need, not just on the field, but emotionally, mentally, you know, I think people felt better about the defense that immediately the trade when the trade was made. Now, the results didn't back that up, but that was the shot that was celebrated. So there is a lot of revision of history on that. Yeah, I mean, and the setting for it was they were seven and two. They literally were in the hunt for the two seed because Detroit was rolling at that point. And, you know, everything changed. Now, you know, in the moment I remember also saying, look, this is for now, they're going for it. They're going to try to win some playoff games this year and make a run.
Starting point is 00:27:01 And their defense is the weak link easily. And, you know, they got Benjamin St. Juice and Emmanuel Forbes at the other corner. They had to move Mikey Sandor still outside because they were having so much trouble. Turns out it may have been his best position, but they didn't know that at the time. And yes, he wasn't healthy, but there was, you know, a decent outlook that he would get healthy pretty quickly. He hadn't been a pro bowler for a few years, but he was an extraordinary talent. and he was under contract for two years. So it wasn't just a rental.
Starting point is 00:27:40 So there was actually, I liked it. I mean, I liked it in the moment because I always liked the player too. I always thought he was a highly combative, tough, hard-nosed, really good cover corner. And it didn't work out. It's by far Adam Peter's biggest mistake. But you can only judge those things in the moment. you know, if we were doing hindsight, you know, we'd be 50-50, a spurious set on everything. But, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:12 So, but you know what? Back to what Yale wrote, you're right. The Matthew Barry reporting, if that's what we want to call it, the headline is their number one back in terms of carries isn't on the roster right now. interesting. I think it's interesting. Because three weeks ago, a month ago, I would have said, I'm totally fine with the running back room they're coming back with, and I bet they are too. Maybe not. All right, we have a lot of other things to get to.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Anything else about our football team? The Tyler Beaudish news you said before we started to record, you wanted to say something about Tyler Beaudish getting cut. Well, listen, I listen to your radio show when you have Steve Suter on. Yeah. Who's very good. Podcast, yeah. He was on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Okay, but I heard him on your radio show. Okay, I did play some of it back on the radio show. That's right. Yes. Yeah. Because Steve Suter is very good. Yeah. And, I mean, if I was listening right, he had him graded out as their best lineman last year.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Yes. He didn't grade one, two, three games. And he would say that tonsils their best linemen. But in terms of the grades, yes, he had Biotish as the number one graded for all of those games linemen. Okay, so what is your belief? Why did they do this? So my guess is two things. Number one is they probably didn't think that he had a great.
Starting point is 00:29:56 great year. But more importantly, they didn't think he was worth the last year of the three-year deal was not guaranteed. So they didn't think he was worth what the last year would pay him, roughly 10 million. And they probably, I don't know this for a fact, I'm just guessing. They probably went and tried to get him to restructure the deal to stay. And he said, no thank you. And he's going to hit free agency. That's my guess, because I don't think they dislike the player at all. I mean, if you go back there, there are lots of quotes from Dan Quinn, both years, about how pleased they are with Tyler Beaudish, not only with his performance, but, you know, as a locker room guy, and as a steadying influence in 2024 for a rookie quarterback. Not that he really needed any
Starting point is 00:30:47 steadying. But I just, I think ultimately, Tommy, it was probably about money. that seems kind of short-sighted to me. Well, you know, Souter does not think that Nick Allegretti is the starting center next year is an improvement. Maybe they have another idea here. There are some centers in free agency, but they only have six picks, you know, in this upcoming draft. You can't count on a rookie being available, the guy you want being available and then being a starter week one. But that's why they brought Allegretti, you know, extended Allegrety and kept him, because he actually would have been a bigger cap savings had they turned him loose.
Starting point is 00:31:32 But he's versatile. He can play basically everywhere on the line as Wiley can. You know, they've kept their real versatile players, and Brandon Coleman's versatile as well. But now they need a starting center and very likely a starting left guard. and the two areas, O-line and running back room that seemed like, okay, we don't have to pay attention to those, maybe adding, you know, some players to. We'll see. I just think this is a move they really could potentially regret. You know what? I didn't have a problem with him either. I really didn't. You know, I go back to the 2024 game that he missed against New Orleans.
Starting point is 00:32:16 and that game against New Orleans. I remember I was on the pregame show before that New Orleans game, and Linnell and Denton were doing the pregame show on the radio station. And they said, what do you think is going to happen with Tyler Beattish being out? Are you concerned about that? And I said, not really. I said, New Orleans is pretty good on defense, but this offense has been rolling and it's all about number five. he got sacked eight times that day, eight times.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Tyler Beaudish was missed that day. You know, and a lot of those sacks came right up the middle. But, you know, that was 2024. Remember that season, Tommy? Pretty good year. Pretty good vintage. That was 100 years ago. It seems like it.
Starting point is 00:33:11 All right, we got a lot more to get to. We'll start doing that next after these. words from a few of our sponsors. Hey guys, I'm addicted to gold belly. Starting point is 00:37:37 and a character for all these years I mean I don't know how you feel when someone like this passes and then, you know, sometimes you can just tell based on the reaction, even on social media, just how important this person was. I mean, the players that played for him that were on social media last night and early this morning, Reese Davis and the people at ESPN, this guy was a beloved figure everywhere he went, everywhere he coached. And then I think the college game day, you know, a recap show with Reese Davis and Mark May was gold. I mean, it was the perfect, you know, threesome. I mean, the contrast between Mark May's personality and
Starting point is 00:38:27 Holtz's personality. The whole thing worked. If you were a college football fan, you watched game day, and then you watched the three of them on the recap show at the end of the night or the first thing on Sunday morning. But Lou Holt, passing away at 89 years old. Scott was telling some great stories last night with Reese Davis on the show about him. But I don't know, did you have a sense of just the overwhelming reaction, especially from the players that played for him? Well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:58 You know, the college football, the business of college football, where he had the biggest impact, both on the field and in the studio, I certainly recognize that. For me personally, he was a lousy coach for the New York Jets. Right. Not even a whole year. I don't think he made it the whole year, right? I think he was three and ten.
Starting point is 00:39:28 All right. Well, they played 14 games. So did he get fired before the last game? Yeah. I guess. Yeah, he did. Yeah. So, you know, that's my memory of Lou Holtz. Plus, I was, I forget when airport I was at, waiting to get on the plane.
Starting point is 00:39:44 And I noticed I turned around and Lou Holtz is behind me. And we're about ready to board. I mean, I'm right, and I say to him, I say, coach, you go ahead of me. You get on ahead of me. And he thanked me. And that was my encounter with Lou Holt. here's the somewhat tie to all of us. And Tim Murray reminded me of this on radio today.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Vinnie Serrato was his head of recruiting at Notre Dame. He credits Vinnie Serrado for a lot of their success, including the 1988 National Championship. And I found this story from many years ago, you know, going back to like 2007 or something, like that. Written by Tom Lemming, who is like the high school recruiting guy, the recruiting guy for ESPN
Starting point is 00:40:38 or was for a while. And it's a story about Vinnie Serrato and he said, you know, I'm going to be writing about college football's five most influential recruiters over the past two decades. And in my mind, Vinnie Serrato was the most dominating recruiting
Starting point is 00:40:53 presence during that span. He joined Lou Holtz at the University of Minnesota in 1985. there was a story in the Minneapolis Star Tribune this morning that said, if Holtz and Serato, the two of them, the pairing, if they had stayed in Minneapolis for more than two years, it would have, they would have had great success. It was starting to turn when Lou Holtz got the Notre Dame job and left Minnesota
Starting point is 00:41:26 to go to Notre Dame. but Lou Holtz loved Vinnie Serrado, credited him for so much of the success they had. He recruited Tony Rice, Anthony Johnson, Mike Stonebreaker, Pat Terrell, you know, the big players, the big, you know, guys that were a big part of the 1988 championship team. And I always forget that about Vinny. Vinny was not only a great college recruiter and at Notre Dame, but remember, before he came to Washington, Vinny was in San Francisco as a scout,
Starting point is 00:42:05 and people thought he was a great scout and was on the rise in professional football. He was their director of college scouting. You know, for the team that eventually produced guys like Ricky Waters and Dana Stubblefield and Bryant Young, which became a big part of their 94 Super Bowl team. Vinnie Serrato is a caricature to our fan base. Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:36 I mean, this may be the greatest evidence yet of the disease of this organization. Yeah. Yeah. Of everything, everyone that came here, this was the place where careers went to die. The reverse car wash. In clean, leave dirty. And he may be the one of the greatest examples of that. You know, I've told you this before, and I think you might even feel this way.
Starting point is 00:43:03 But I'm not going to speak for you. You can respond. But I've had Vinny on the show, you know, three, four times over the last three or four years. There was a long period of time where he would not come on with me. He didn't like me. He didn't like you. He didn't like us. He didn't like the station.
Starting point is 00:43:20 and I reached out a few times and he said no when I called some Maryland basketball games several years ago apparently I never heard it but on his radio show in Baltimore apparently he absolutely tore me up just ripped me to shreds and just said get Johnny Holiday back
Starting point is 00:43:45 Sheen is terrible I never heard any of it but I heard about it But finally, you know, maybe like four or five years ago, three, four years ago, he said, sure, I'll come on. And we had a great conversation on the air and a great conversation off the air. And I told them what I used to say, even on the air, but a lot of times not on the air, I would say if you sit with Vinny Serato and you have a conversation because he came on with us sometimes, especially remember that welcome home luncheon and we would do it live there every year.
Starting point is 00:44:21 There was like two or three straight years. He sat with us and did the show for like a half hour. And I always remember thinking, I don't think he's a terrible guy. I don't think he's an idiot. But, you know, the actual results of what they did during those years was total boneheaded move after move. I mean, it was amateur hour. But, you know, in having him on the show a few times in recent years, there have been many instances where he has said, yeah, that one wasn't my idea.
Starting point is 00:45:00 He was really, I think, for the most part, just carrying out what Dan wanted. I know, but look, I think, and he worked for Dan for a long time. Yeah. I think that if you worked for Dan Snyder, I think you earned all the black marks on your resume you got. Well, it depends on how long you worked for him. If you were in and out in the early days and didn't know, like Marty... That's why me.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Yeah. I mean, Vinny was there for a while. Yeah. Vinny took Dan's money for a while. Right. Okay. And if he had this... great reputation, you know, coming in, why wouldn't he have saved it by getting out early?
Starting point is 00:45:50 Because Dan Payton him an S load of money? Well, then there you go. There you go. There was a price on his character and reputation. It's also possible that Vinny was considered to be a very good scout, very good recruiter, very good, you know, talent, you know, evaluator. It didn't really help him in Washington very much, clearly. But that they, you know, no one else but Dan saw him as a GM. And even though he wasn't a true GM, because he was carrying out at times the orders of the owner. Yeah. I don't know. I think, I think that he had success before he got here. And I'm telling you guys, in every conversation personally that I've had with him
Starting point is 00:46:43 over how long, Tommy, with this station coming up on 20 years, basically, and Red Zebra all those years, every single time, Vinnie couldn't have been a nicer guy. And he never struck me personally as the dope all of us thought he was as a general manager. But whatever. But he He earned that reputation. Yep, he did. Yeah. Yeah. He's married to a doctor, isn't he?
Starting point is 00:47:17 Yeah, she's apparently, I think, is she a brain surgeon? Something like that. Something like that. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Like, even that kind of adds up to a different story than most fans, I think. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:34 All right. You know, I wanted to mention. one other thing. Did you, do you know about this flag football thing that Jaden Daniels, you know, committed to? It's this Tom Brady thing. You know,
Starting point is 00:47:46 it was scheduled for later this month in Saudi Arabia. They're not going to do it there now, obviously. Can you imagine, by the way, I was just thinking about this. Can you imagine, so for those, let me set it up for those that don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:59 So there's this fanatics, you know, the sports wagering, not sports wagering, fanatics, the sports appellation. peril company. Fanatics is doing a flag football classic in which there are a bunch of, you know, current NFL players that are going to play in it. You know, there are, it's Tom Brady's the organizer of it and guys like Jaden Daniels and Christian McCaffrey and C.D. Lamb and Odell
Starting point is 00:48:30 Beckham and Tyree Kill and Max Crosby, Miles Garrett, Sauce Gardner. They're all committed to playing in it. Pete Carroll, Kyle Shanahan, Sean Payton are all coaching in it. And, you know, it's a, I'm sure they're all getting paid a lot of money to do this. And it was going to be in Saudi Arabia on March 21st. Now it's going to be moved back to the United States at a date TBD. First of all, can you imagine like if it had been scheduled for last week in Saudi Arabia and they were there? And war broke out. Beyond that, I haven't talked about this, but I'm just going to say this right now. I actually don't want Jaden to do this. Like, he missed the entire season for all intents and purposes.
Starting point is 00:49:23 You know, 10 out of 17 games, 13 games basically that he didn't, you know, play in or finish. And his first football is going to be running around in a flag game with a bunch of guys that are going to be competing, you know, they're going to get competitive. Can you imagine if he got hurt in something like this? Oh, yeah. That would be bad. But you know what? I took up the position that I did not want to be the guy that says Jane Daniels should be in a protective bubble.
Starting point is 00:49:59 And I didn't want to be the guy to criticize him for off-the-field marketing opportunities. because I think for the most part, well, for the whole thing, I think he's been very good about that. I mean, you know, I guess I'm still scarred by the Chase Young experience. Right. You know, and I compare him to that,
Starting point is 00:50:24 and football has always been the priority for James. I think so, too. And there hasn't been a lot of the off-the-field business activities. So I didn't want to jump off-up. him for something like this. I would prefer as a fan that he sat home every night and, you know, watched film if I was a fan. But so that's why I didn't, I said, you know, this, he can't protect him all the time from this.
Starting point is 00:50:58 And, you know, he does have the opportunity to become a big. presence in the NFL beyond the field and he shouldn't he shouldn't lose that opportunity as long as football I'm with you as he recognizes that football is what gave him
Starting point is 00:51:20 that opportunity look I am totally with you there is nothing about Jaden Daniels and our experience here now two years coming up on two years since he was drafted that says football's just you know
Starting point is 00:51:36 the thing that helps me with my personal branding and marketing opportunities and advertising opportunities. He hasn't missed an OTA day. He hasn't missed a mini-camp day. I mean, Chase Young literally didn't post for one voluntary OTA day after his rookie season where he got the C slapped on him, the captain slapped on him. And 89 players attended almost all of them. And he was the only one that didn't attend any of I know how upset the coaching staff was that's just bad advice that he's getting or bad decision making on his part, even though they are voluntary. Jaden, I don't see that being at all. And I don't have a problem with any of this stuff, including this flag football game,
Starting point is 00:52:23 except for the fact that he barely played last year and that this would have been totally fine, you know, in 2027, March of 2027. after he had an MVP season and they made it to the Super Bowl. But coming off all those injuries for his first on-the-field action, I'm just going to call it on-the-field action, for his first on-the-field action since he got shut down in early December to be a flagged football game, I'd just rather it not be.
Starting point is 00:53:01 I'm sure it's worth it financially, and I don't want him to miss out on something like that, certainly. But maybe there's a way he can be the ceremonial first pitch guy for this game and then turn it over to somebody else, rather than running around and trying to duck Miles Garrett in a flag football game. I know. It's you got to cover your eye kind of thing. But, you know, it's like letting your kid go out with the car for the first time with his driver's license.
Starting point is 00:53:35 Yeah, I don't know if it's exactly that, but. But meantime, speaking of Jaden, his mother, Regina Jackson, is now his official and loan agent representation. You know, she got her NFLPA agent certification, and he had another person working in the group, but she is now officially his agent and his only agent. any thoughts on that I have no thoughts on that she's she has not been from what I could gather
Starting point is 00:54:18 you know the potential dividing parent that she was when he was at Arizona State and she wound up in the NCAA investigation right She's been pretty much publicly, at least, from what I can gather.
Starting point is 00:54:41 She's been on her best behavior, and now she has an actual right and an obligation to have a direct influence in his football career. She's his agent. Yeah. I mean, look, Lamar Jackson's mother represents him, and she's not a certified NFL agent. Yes. So she went, you know, Regina Jackson went through the process of doing what you needed to do to get certified.
Starting point is 00:55:11 So I don't have a problem with this at all. I mean, look, you say that she, I mean, the only thing that I would prefer is that she doesn't get into it with media people on Twitter. Like she did last week with the Kime thing. Like, it's just, you know, we're all dopes to a certain degree. Just ignore us, honestly. It's your best thing to ignore what anybody. says about your son, good or bad. You know, let the play on the field tell the story.
Starting point is 00:55:40 And, you know, it's been a pretty good story so far. All right, we got other things to get to, including a caps trade at the deadline, I'm assuming. And Maryland basketball has hit a new low. That's next after these words from a few of our sponsors. It's Shelley's backroom, cigar, custom blend cigar facts day. Okay. You know, everything about, you know, we always talk about shelley's and their custom blend beef.
Starting point is 00:58:20 Right. And it's become celebrated, as celebrated should, because it is a very unique blend of beef that makes for great burgers. I mean, among the best you'll find. in D.C. And you can see their menu by going to shelley's backroom.com. But today is, it's a historical fact.
Starting point is 00:58:45 It's about a great American Ulysses S. Grant, the Union General who led the North to the Civil War victory. And then became president of the United States. So we got a good cigar with his name on it? Well, he was a big cigar guy.
Starting point is 00:59:02 Yep. Custom blend? Yes. He smoked. the cigar during a key battlefield victory. When that news got out, Americans began sending him thousands of cigars in appreciation. And like, you know, like Mark Twain, who I talked about before and Winston Churchill, these guys smoked a lot of cigars. Like supposedly Grant smoked up to 20 cigars a day.
Starting point is 00:59:30 Wow. Even while he was president. you know, basically he smoked strong, full-bodied cigars like I do. I like those as well. So we like the same type of cigars. And this cigar was a symbol for Ulysses Grant, just like it's a symbol for Shelley's backroom. Shelly's back room has a lot of greatest stuff going on.
Starting point is 00:59:56 They've got a great bar with great liquor. They've got the great food menu. But ultimately, there's a cigar. bar. If you're looking to smoke your first cigar or enjoy something from your own private collection, bring it with you down to Shelley's back room at 1331 F Street Northwest and enjoy the atmosphere that makes cigar smoking so much fun. Did you, I forget if you watch this or not, I told you to watch it. Did you watch Death by Lightning? No.
Starting point is 01:00:30 It was, you know, the drama. mini series about the James Garfield, you know, presidency and how he became president and then eventually his assassination. Oh, okay. I thought that, uh, what was the show recently that you revealed was such a great show that I had revealed the week before? It wasn't death by lightning. Watch death by lightning people. It's a really, really good show. I think it was Netflix. I think it was Netflix. All right. So there are a few things we still have left on this show.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Number one is this. Maryland lost last night at Wisconsin by 33 points, Tommy, 78 to 45. It's the fifth time this year that Maryland's lost by 30 or more points. In the previous 25 years, there are only five times that they lost games by 30 or more. So in one season, five games of 30 or more, the previous 25 years, five games that they lost by 30 or more. They also last night with the loss suffered their 13th, I'm sorry, their 15th conference loss. They are now 4 and 15 in the Big 10. The 15 conference losses is the most in program history.
Starting point is 01:01:54 They've never in any conference they've been in the ACC or Big Ten. had 15 conference losses. They are 11 and 19 overall, and as I've said multiple times during this season, it is the worst season of my lifetime of being a Maryland basketball fan. And I can't tell you how many people I have heard from who want to get out of the Buzz Williams business today. Like right when this season ends, they don't want to see what next year looks like. They've had it. This was such a depressing season.
Starting point is 01:02:37 Even their seasons in which they didn't make the tournament, you know, over the years, usually more times than not, they were in it until the very end. They had big wins during the course of the year. They were on the bubble and maybe ended up on the wrong side of the bubble come selection Sunday. We haven't had a season like this ever. they're terrible. Now, for the Maryland fans listening to this podcast, some of you are ready to jump ship.
Starting point is 01:03:07 It ain't happening. There's no way they're buying out six more years of a Buzz Williams contract. That's not happening. The other reason it's not happening is he's got a top three recruiting class coming in next year. And hopefully he can keep his injured player this year, was his number one portal player, his center, Ferell Payne. If he gets a medical red shirt, and most people think he will, if he stays, and you combine
Starting point is 01:03:36 that with the freshman for next year's incoming class, and two of the freshmen this year, Darius Adams and Andre Mills, if they come back and you add a couple of pieces in the portal, you could be good next year. he's not historically started off quickly in his new spots. He had a terrible year in his first year at Virginia Tech, a bad year his first year at Texas A&M, and then he won, you know, tournament teams after tournament teams, 25 wins, 23 wins, 20 wins, 20 wins, 21 wins. Now, he's never been to the final four. He's been to an elite eight.
Starting point is 01:04:18 He's been to four sweet 16s. He's been to the tournament. a lot, and he usually figures it out. I got to give it one more year. I have to. I think you do. Like you said, you don't have much of a choice, but to make a judgment as to whether or not he can make this program a lead, you have to give it at least another year.
Starting point is 01:04:43 I'll tell you what, though, this fan base has always been impatient, and they've never suffered through a season like this one. never. I mean, I had a caller call in today and say, well, there was that one season with Lefty, and I looked it up, they were 16 and 13, and 5 and 9 in the ACC, and in the season finale, they beat number one ranked Virginia on their home floor. Yeah, that wasn't a tournament season. They weren't in the upper echelon of the ACC, and there were a couple of Bob Wade years that were really bad, you know, and then Gary's probation years weren't great years, record-wise, but we had Walt Williams, who was setting ACC records, you know, with 30-point games.
Starting point is 01:05:28 There's nothing that will be memorable except for pain and depression about this year. And it really hits home, Tommy, this time of year when you're in March and it's like, your team isn't, they're not only not participating in March, they are totally irrelevant in college basketball. By the way, I'll remind Maryland fans a year after we were ranked ninth in the country and went to the Sweet 16. And I'll also remind many of you Maryland fans who have given me a hard time over the years, which is fine. I don't really care about being a Mark Turgeon guy or being a Kevin Willard guy and thinking they were good coaches. And saying with Turgeon, be careful what you wish for because he's a very good coach. But I was with you in terms of the March problems.
Starting point is 01:06:20 didn't do well. The lack of March success costs Mark Turgeon's job. You know, ultimately he left in the middle of the, you know, 2022, 2021, 2021, 2022 season. But he was an excellent basketball coach. And anybody that knows anything about basketball will tell you, Mark Turgeon was a really good basketball coach. And Kevin Willard's an excellent coach. Look what he's doing at Villanova this year.
Starting point is 01:06:45 That team was supposed to finish near last. But, yeah. It doesn't seem to be the most natural of fits, Tommy. Kevin Willard seemed like a completely natural fit. You know, Buzz Williams is a Texas guy. You know, it's very, you know, he's very much about his players, not big into everything in terms of outside responsibilities with the program. But as long as he wins, I'm fine.
Starting point is 01:07:16 It's just got to start next year. and winning next year isn't 19 and 14 and on the bubble on March 5th, 2027. It's at that point 24 and 8 and you're already locked in as a tournament team, and now we're just kind of determining is it going to be a three-seed, four-seat, or five-seat? Because a bubble season, even if they make it, may not save them after two years. Uh, you got anything on that? No, I got nothing on that. You want to talk about my pain?
Starting point is 01:07:57 It's not your pain. But you understand the pain. Yes. Uh, the Wizards are going to play Trey Young tonight against Utah. Uh, did you want to say anything about that? I think you did. Yes, I did. Seems insane to me.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Okay, but again, I mean, I, I think that they, made these deals with Tray Young and then with Anthony Davis because Ted opened up this very expensive, very high profile
Starting point is 01:08:31 section of seats in his new, in his refurbished arena and you can't sell that with, with kids. You've got to,
Starting point is 01:08:44 you've got to give people real NBA players. I think that's the main reason why these two guys are here. And it's, if Trey Young, how, how, what's the area that the wizards have to be in to protect that pick? They got to finish in the bottom four to guarantee that there's no chance that they would lose the pick. Okay. Okay. If Trey Young playing by himself, no matter who else is on the court, can't list the wizards to be on that, to have a record better.
Starting point is 01:09:20 than that, then he's not even the flawed player that I thought they got. No, I totally disagree with that. Of course you do. Yeah. I had Josh Robbins from The Athletic on yesterday, and one of the things you notice, the Wizards are actually, they're doing everything well, in my opinion. And including, so he thinks that Trey Young's playing because he's fine medically now, and the Wizards can't really use injuries and excuse him.
Starting point is 01:09:50 anymore with him, and they could get fined a substantial amount. The key is... That does not change the fact how stupid this is. The key is Trey Young, you know, Shea Gilgis Alexander, if you put them on the floor with Julian Reese, Juju Reese, the Maryland player of the last four years, who just played in his second NBA game, and you put, you know, Sharif Cooper and Leaky Black on the floor with
Starting point is 01:10:20 them, they're not going to win games and finish outside of the bottom four, even if he plays well. I'm not about to measure or judge Trey Young with the group that he'll be playing with the rest of the year. I'm ready to judge Trey Young when they're playing meaningful games and Anthony Davis is on the field and is on the court and, you know, Alex Sarr is on the court and Kishon George, who, you know, apparently may have a UCL injury. That could be a serious. injury, elbow injury. But in the NBA, in the NBA, you're not putting
Starting point is 01:10:58 on the floor one great player, a good player, an okay player, and two G-League players in winning a lot of games. To be one of the least worst put teams in the league. Yeah. Okay? Yeah. I think you're not winning
Starting point is 01:11:16 many games doing it. He can't lift them No, he won't. Beyond the four worst teams in the league, and he's not even as good as the fraud player they got. Well, he's flawed on defense. There's no doubt about that. But he's a turnover. He's the worst turnover player in the history of the league.
Starting point is 01:11:38 Look, I wasn't a huge Trey Young fan, but I am excited about the idea of Trey Young and Anthony Davis together. I think that is a perfect combination. young is a phenomenal creator and score and shooter. Yes, he's a very good shooter. Don't let the numbers pull you. Yes, he is. But Washington right now is fourth worst in the league, two games worse than Utah who they play tonight. So that'll be the battleground there. Them in Utah more likely than not, although Brooklyn, you know, they're only two games removed from the bottom as well. I don't think they're going to blow it, and I don't
Starting point is 01:12:20 think Trey Young coming back will blow it. Now, there was news about Anthony Davis. If it happens, what will you say? The worst, most incompetent, organizational malpractice in history
Starting point is 01:12:36 for any of our teams in town, if they lose that pick, or if they even risk losing that pick. Remember... Well, they are risk losing it. Well, they can't cancel the game, Tommy. They can't forfeit the rest of the games. They didn't have to make the trade.
Starting point is 01:12:54 Why not? Why not? Because of that situation, just like this. He's not the future. You're not going to invest in this guy. You're not going to invest in this guy. I think they might be investing in him. But keep in mind that when they made the trade, C.J. McCollum, that's true, C.J. McCollum was on a roll and they were winning games when they traded him. They had won like four out of five or four out of six when they made the trade or something like that.
Starting point is 01:13:28 So, you know, and he was scored. One of the reasons they probably made the trade is we can't keep playing C.J. McCollum. If we trade for Trey Young, we like him better in the future, but he's also hurt. And he's going to miss a month or two. And he's missed what? month or two at this point, I guess. Anthony Davis, the team put out the statement that this is the update on his injury. Davis, who is out with ligament damage in his left hand, was re-evaluated Wednesday by Dr. Stephen Shin of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 01:14:04 He continues to progress as expected and has been cleared to begin limited individual on-court basketball activities. Davis will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Further updates will be provided at that time. Now, in two weeks, if he's healthy enough to play, I think you can then get away with, yeah, we've got two weeks left in the regular season, basically, and we're not going to risk him. We're not putting him out there. He is healthy enough to play.
Starting point is 01:14:33 He's a healthy scratch. You better not put him out there. Yeah, I don't want him to be out there with Tray Young. Anything else on them? I got nothing else for you there, boss. I think I'm almost tacked out here. Well, there's just one big NFL story brewing, and we're going to finish up with that after these words from a few of our sponsors.

Tommy, this from Trey Wingo, Tray Wingo formerly of ESPN, I forget who he's with now. Things are moving fast regarding Max Crosby.
Starting point is 01:15:45 Last night, Dallas thought they were close to a deal, but since then other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders two first-round picks expect Dallas now to shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson. You know, Crosby, when we've had these conversations, Washington doesn't have enough in the way of picks. They're just teams with a lot more. ammo to trade for Max Crosby if he's actually going to be traded.
Starting point is 01:16:20 But interesting, Dallas went after him. You know, a Quinn and Williams, Trey Hendrickson front line. Quinn and Williams, Max Crosby, that would have been imposing. But Dallas, like Washington, was so bad defensively, but they feel good about their offense, but they've got to add defensive talent as well. And it looks like they're swinging big, at least according to Trey Wingo. The Caps made a trade today. They traded Nick Dowd to Vegas for a prospect in the form of goaltender,
Starting point is 01:16:58 Yesper Vicman, a 2027 third round pick and a 29 second round pick. Nick Dowd's been here for a while. You know, I can't evaluate this trade, nor can Tommy. But I will evaluate this. The caps are in some trouble right now in terms of the playoff race. You know, they lost to Utah the other night. Right now, they are, they're four points behind the last wild card team, which is Boston. They've got 73 points.
Starting point is 01:17:32 The caps have 69. And Boston's played three fewer games. So the caps are in big time trouble here. You know, there's time. They've got 19 games left, but they've got to start winning some games if they're going to make it back to the postseason. And...
Starting point is 01:17:50 The bigger question. What's the bigger question on this? Is this Hofetkin's last year? I don't know. Don't know. Is it? Nobody knows. I mean, will he go out on a sour note?
Starting point is 01:18:05 I mean, last year would have been, I mean, it was a magical year for him. You know, he set the record. record, you broke Gretke's record, did it on a, with a broken leg in the middle of the season. Right. The Caps had a decent playoff run last year, won their first playoff series in a while, and things were looking up, and now it looks like, you know, they've taken a big step back. And he doesn't have that much time to really say, okay, how close, are they, how, what's their future
Starting point is 01:18:38 beyond this year now? Are they at like still in the early stages of trying to build a team? And can he really be part of that? And, I mean, it's amazing that there's so much uncertainty about him
Starting point is 01:18:54 right now. And yet, this is the end, Earl Vetchkin, it's not a glorious end. I mean, he's not playing poorly, but for the team, not a great way to go out. Well, are you suggesting that if he wants to continue to play,
Starting point is 01:19:12 he might try to go to a better franchise to try to win another country? No, no, no. Because he right now, he is not missed a game. He is not missed a game. He leads the team in goals. He leads the team in points. He has not played poorly. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:30 But I think he got energy and was rejuvenated. Right. by what he saw as a move, a positive direction move. You know, and they've kept caps that look like you're taking a big step back. And they made this trade, ironically with their old boss, George McPa. And you were worried about doing a hockey segment. Look at what we just did. Last thing before we leave, saw this news.
Starting point is 01:20:01 Lenice Bias, Len Bias' mother, Jay Bias' mother, passed away apparently yesterday. She was an incredibly strong figure and an incredibly eloquent communicator and really spokesperson for a lot of what went on in the wake of her son's death in June of 1986. I just remember thinking what an impressive woman, Lois Bias was. Yeah, I had the opportunity when I worked at the Baltimore Sun and was editor of the Howard County edition. She came out to speak at a middle school in Howard County, and I wrote a column about it,
Starting point is 01:20:48 and she really was a remarkably impressive, inspiring woman given all she had been through with the death of both her sons. Right. Rest in peace and sympathies to the bias family. All right, good job. Well done. I will talk to you on Tuesday. Okay, boss.
