I watched it one or two Mystics games start to finish just so I could, I say I could, in case Ted came and tried to slap me. Is that why you did it because you were afraid of Ted asking you questions about the mystics?

I wanted to have firm ground to stand on in case it came up. You think that's firm ground, the necessary firm ground? I think, you know, if somebody says, I bet you've never seen a wizard's game from beginning and the end, I could say, that's not true. A mystics game. I have. A mystics game. Yeah. Wizards game now. Now, maybe I haven't seen a wizard's game from a wizard's game. That's probably true. I know that we, whenever it's come up in the past, and by the way, I still can't do it. I cannot name every team in the WNBA.

There's no chance I could do that even now. There's, there's the lengths. Hold on, hold on, I'm going to pull up the standings. I want to see if you can get. There's the winks. Yeah. Hold on. The links, where do they play, Tommy?

They play in Los Angeles. Wrong. They play in Los Angeles. They play in Minnesota. Yes. Nice start. Yes. Okay.

Yeah, but I knew, I knew the L.A. team. I knew about the Connecticut Sun that they played in a casino. Okay. Hit me with it. We have. I think, you know what? 11, 14, 15 teams. I've already rounded the bases. Now you've rounded the bases.

Honestly, I'm looking at the standings right now. Before, um, I, obviously I would have been able to name the mystics. I think I would have gotten a New York Liberty. I would have gotten the Indiana fever for sure. I think I would have gotten the Las Vegas Aces. I would have gotten the L.A. Sparks. I'm sorry? The Aces have been the champs.

I don't know that. I can't tell you who. You see, I'm just blowing you away. Hey, what's the name of the team in Philly? Well, I just got out. I just got out of, hold on. I just got out of the standings. I've got it.

Don't look. Because I wanted to make. Don't look. I wanted to make, I'd have no idea with the name of the team. The Liberty, Bill. They don't have it. The Liberty. Oh, they don't have, see?

Okay. The reason that I got out of the stanzings, is because the one player, since Caitlin Clark came into the WNBA, and I've watched some WNBA basketball, only Indiana Fever Games, the one player that's blown me away in terms of how good she is, and how physically imposing she is is the player that I believe has been a multi-time MVP, and that's Asia Wilson. And I was just confirming that she plays for Las Vegas.

So I clicked out of the standings to click on the Aces roster just to make sure that I was correct. And I am. I think they've won two straight, at least two straight. Well, she's legit. I mean, she's really a dominant. player in that league. And I mean, I can look this up, but I'm going to say that she's been a multi-time MVP. But look, I'm looking at the standings now, not for, you know, lottery money. And I think the mega millions is like at 750 million right now. I could have never named the Portland

Fire or the Toronto Tempo or the Golden State Valky's. I never. You know about the Valkyreys. Could have never named those teams. tempo. What'd you say? I did not know about the Toronto tempo. Well, you didn't know about the Minnesota Links either. No, I did. For that matter. I knew there was a team called The Links.

Do you know the name of the team that plays in Philadelphia and the NBA? Because they're in the news today. Yes. And Josh Harris owns both of them. The new WNBA team that's going to be there. Uh-huh. and the hot Philadelphia 76ers, the Eastern Conference favorite Philadelphia 760s. They're not the favorite.

All right. I am looking at the updated my bookie NBA odds right now. First of all, they're not the favorites to win the NBA championship, but they are the second favorite now in the east to the Knicks. The Knicks are plus 330 to win the Eastern Conference. The 76ers are plus 350. The Celtics are plus 520. And the team that I will be rooting for in addition to my Wizards, the Toronto Raptors are plus 850.

The 76ers were at like plus 700, something like that. You know, the conversation yesterday, and I had been standing on the podcast, about the report from Kevin O'Connor, I think it was, at Yahoo's sports that Anthony Davis was, you know, still a possibility to get dealt. And LeBron was kind of waiting on the fates of either Kyrie Irving or Anthony Davis. Obviously, the wizards are not going to move Anthony Davis. They would have to be blown away with a package to move him. So LeBron's not joining either player. He is joining Jalen Brown, Tyrese Maxie, and Joelle Embed.

I will say this about the 76ers. if Joelle Embed is healthy and plays in the playoffs with those players, they'll have a chance to go to the NBA finals and face probably San Antonio or Oklahoma City. But Joel Embed is the key to the 76ers getting LeBron another title. And for LeBron having a statue, will he get a statue in Philadelphia if they win a title? And he's a big part of it. Let me ask you this. What?

Going back, going to LeBron, not in Philadelphia. He played in L.A. for eight years. I know. Does that surprise you? Do you consider him a Lakers? No. No. No. If you were making the list of greatest Lakers, no. We'll be on that list. Didn't we do this? I think we did this a while back.

But I don't consider LeBron a Laker. No. He was there for eight years. years, they want a title. That blew me away. Well, that was the conversation. That was the conversation. Is that we had this conversation before,

and both of us were blown away with the fact that he had been there for eight seasons. So what is LeBron? What if you were to... He's a Cleveland Cavalier one, and he's a Miami Heat member, too. And I know that he didn't play anywhere near the amount of time in Miami's he did in Los Angeles. But to me, the multiple titles that he won in Miami and the one title that he won in Cleveland, and obviously all of the years he played in Cleveland before he went to Miami,

and then when he came back to Cleveland, he's a Cleveland Cavalier number one. Number one. You agree with that, right? Yes, I do. And I think Miami Heat, his identity is Miami Heat number two. I agree. And look, the title he won in L.A. was the COVID bubble title. It's I know. I know. It was the asterisk. Right. And he hasn't been the best player on the Lakers team while he's been there. He was the best player. I mean, Dwayne Wade was great. And Kyrie Irving, when they won the title in Cleveland, was great. But it's just been a different role. Look, he's had some great seasons in L.A.

You know, over the last couple of years, we've talked about the fact that he's become in so many ways an even better play. player like he's stronger, he's more, he's become a better and a more consistent shooter in recent years. But, yeah, on the all-time Lakers, like, he's not on an all-time Mount Rushmore of Lakers? Who's on that list? Wilt, Magic, Kareem, Kareem Magic, and West, right? Yes, yes. And, you know, Wilf didn't play that long, would you? I know, he was in Philadelphia. Right. Yeah. With the Warriors.

You know, you have to give it the wilt, I guess, but some people would put Elginville. Yep. Some people would put Elginville. Yep. Because he played his entire career. Right. As did West. I mean, obviously.

Philadelphia Warriors. Philadelphia 76ers. And then Lakers. Magic, Kareem, and West are absolute gibbons. Wait a minute. Let's revisit. Let's revisit the Lakers, Mount Rushmore, real quick. I don't want to spend a lot of time.

Okay. Why? Who did we? Go Kobe Bryant, I guess. Because we left Kobe. Oh, yeah, of course. Of course. So, I mean, who are you kicking off if it's a Mount Rushmore?

Magic. You know what? Magic Kobe. Kareem. Kareem and West. And you're keep, magic, Kobe, Kareem, and West. And you're taking Wilt off because. I'm kicking Wilt off.

Okay. All right. Yeah, duh. We missed Kobe. God, the Lakers have had some... But we picked it up. We cleaned it up. We cleaned it up. The Lakers have had so many great players.

Good God. I mean, LeBron's... I mean, because of it, LeBron... The Wizards, the Washington franchise, you can name... Three-finger, Mordecai Brown can name all the great Wizards players in history on one hand. well I mean

I'm not his not his good hand I'm not his best hand his offhand maybe I've done the my wizard's bullets Mount Rushmore I know I know that and there is a Mount Rushmore but it pales in comparison

to the Lakers oh my God of course but it's it's it's the biggie it's Elvin Hayes it's Wes on Seld it's John Wall yes and for me it's Bobby And Drich.

And Phil Sheenier's just on the outside, you know, looking in. And I'm not, I don't count anybody that played in Baltimore. Right, which, which pretty much cuts Earl Monroe and Gus Johnson. Exactly. Right. Okay. But what do you think about Josh Harris? Big win for Josh Harris, right?

It is, and he's not a popular owner in Philadelphia. You know that, right? Oh, no. Yeah. Oh, I know that. Yeah. I mean, I wrote about the, you know, when they were trying to get the new arena built there. And, I mean, he was despised.

And we knew that before then. Yeah. We used to hear from Philadelphia media, who, you know, were always kind of surprised at how beloved he was in Washington. Well, you know, when he just got here. I mean, I had, I had what's his face. I'm forgetting his name, you know, the long time. Howard Eskin? Howard Eskin.

I had him on the show when Josh became the owner. I think I had him on a couple times. And I tried to explain to him. I'm like, you know, you do know who the owner. of the team's been for the last 24 years. I mean, you could have sent a Stalin, and we would have been thrilled after 24 years of Snyder. So, yeah. No, for those that don't know, Josh Harris is not a big favorite of Philadelphia 76er fans.

And I think it's true also for the New Jersey Devils fans. I think that's true, if they have any fans. Yeah, I wouldn't know that. But, you know, it's not like it's a massive commitment money-wise, but look, Jalen Brown, you know, added to the roster. LeBron, two-year-eight million dollars, by the way, with a player option. That's the deal, as reported by ESPN's Shams Charania. And, yeah, you know, the interesting thing about the Jalen Brown trade to Philadelphia is,

and I don't know how much we've talked about this. I don't think a lot because you don't care that much. And I think when Jalen Brown got traded, I may have been away. But a lot of the stuff that's come out about Jalen Brown after the fact is really interesting. And maybe very telling as to why Boston just had had it with him. You know, the stories are out there that this guy is the smartest guy in the room, just ask him. He was on something that I saw not that long ago talking about how NBA players deserve equity in teams. Like that's really in the way he described it in a very intelligent way.

And it sounds like he's very intelligent. But to the point of maybe being a bit much, because I think it's a stupid trade for Boston. I think it would have been stupid to have traded him for Janus. although Janice is a lot better than Paul George and what they got from the 76ers. Because I think he's a great player, like a legitimate superstar player, one of the best two-way players in the game. But he's, you know, sometimes guys like that, they just wear out the welcome. And even smart front offices are like, we can't convince anybody here that it makes sense to keep him anymore. He's that much of a pain in the ass.

I guess, you know? I tell you why, I think it makes, it certainly makes the Sixers an interesting watch. Oh, yeah. And it's been forever. And it doesn't help your hometown team. Not good to have LeBron and East. Well, look, the East is loaded now all of a sudden.

I was going through this the other day. I forget if it was on the podcast. on radio, but I was going through just how deep the east is. I had forgotten that, you know, the Indiana Pacers will be getting Tyrese Halliburton back, and they were in the NBA finals two seasons ago. And they're way down the list. I mean, you've got the NBA champs and the Knicks. You've now got the 76ers.

The Celtics are, you know, still have Jason Tatum. And I don't know what Paul George is going to add to it. Kauai in Toronto makes them a legitimate top three or top. four team in the east. They've got the fourth best odds. The Pistons were the one seed in the east last year. At my bookie, they've got the fifth best odds right now in the east. Then you've got Cleveland.

They were in the, you know, in the Eastern Conference finals against New York. You got the heat with Janus. You got the Pacers with Halliburton coming back. Yeah, I mean, the Wizards are way down the list. Way down the list. in the east, the east all of a sudden has become interesting. That's what people, when they talk about their team, they act as if a lot of fans do this,

all the excitement about the wizards. They act as if the rest of the world around them has frozen. And only the wizards have stepped forward. Yes. Only the wizards are melted and able to move forward. Yes. Everybody else is frozen, standing still can't do anything. It's like that, you know, that nightmare where you can't move any part of your body.

No, you're right. I mean, the East is loaded. You know, NBA seasons are strange in that like NFL seasons and like NHL seasons and like MLB seasons, injuries often are the determining factor with, you know, like look at what's happened with the Celtics. in recent years, you know, since they won the title. Denver, the same thing, this past year. So, yeah, I mean, I still think if Anthony Davis is Anthony Davis, and he plays a lot of games, I think the Wizards will have a chance to win in the low to mid-40s.

And that would put them in the race to be a top six seed and not have to play in the playing round. I think that they could be there. It's obvious he can still play. at 41 years old. Will he fall off a cliff? Maybe at 42 next year. It's possible. But he's not going to be asked to be the guy. He'll play 29, 30, 31 minutes a game. He played the fewest minutes on average of his career last year with the Lakers. And for them to win a title, Joelle and Bede's going to have to be a part of their playoff roster for every single game, or at least 16 of the game so that they can win 16 on the way to a title. I still would not put the 76ers ahead of Oklahoma City, San Antonio, in terms of being able to win a title.

You know, fully healthy. Fully healthy, it would be interesting because Embed is really, really a difference maker. And he just hasn't been playing because he hasn't been healthy. So we'll see. Look, maybe 2026, 2027 will be the year of Josh Harris and the Harris Blitzer Group. We'll see. So did you see that Brandon Ayuk Instagrammed out a photo of him and his real estate agent in Northern Virginia and the new $10 million home that he has apparently purchased in Loudon, County, not that far away from Redskins Park, aka Commander's Park, I guess, now.

I mean, what's he doing? Is this a fantasy in his own mind, or is this going to lead to him signing with Washington eventually? I mean, it's one of two things. One thing, just because he signs the deal doesn't mean it's close. No, that's true. That's true. There could be, I'm a little bit familiar with the real estate process. Yeah. And I don't think at this point it's in the MLS as a sale completed. So that is true. Good point, Tommy. Excellent point.

Yeah, so that could happen. You know, it just could be him, you know, putting on a show. Okay, let's say it could also be him actually crazy. spending this money and with every intention of doing this, but he'll know if he's playing for the team or not by the time this thing would have to probably be closed. Now, the third option is he knows something that the rest of us don't. Yeah. Right? It's an option. I don't see it.

I don't see it either. I don't see it. I really. think, I really think, I don't want to make it like pitchforks and torches, but there would be a significant backlash from a significant portion of the fan base at this point if they sign this guy. I'll just keep coming back to the same thing over and over again, and I'm really getting tired of this. I really am. Trust me, people. I am tired of the Brandon Ayuk's story. I know some of you won't believe that. This guy has done nothing in terms of taking action to create the outcome that he has

been telling us he desires more than anything else. He's not either a serious person. It may be that he's not an intelligent person, but he is not done the minimal amount to affect an outcome. for himself. As far as we know today, he is not applied for reinstatement to the league, and until he does that, he's not available to anybody. And he has already said he's not sitting down with the 49ers. He's not showing up for anything. So even if he applied for reinstatement and was reinstated, if he doesn't show up, they don't have to do anything. This is not someone right now who can be taken seriously. The reasons you can't take him seriously are wide-ranging.

You know, he's crazy, he's delusional, he's not very intelligent, or he's just still so upset and so angry, he can't get past it. George Kittle was a guest on Chris Sims' podcast and basically said that he, said, and here's the quote, I feel like I know basically everything that's happened and what's gone on with Brandon. And I can't share all of that because it's not my business to share or tell. I feel like the Niners have done a very good job throughout the entire process, and they've tried. Kyle's tried, John, as in John Lynch has tried, teammates have tried, and this is where we are. And so I think the organization itself has done a really good job. And like I said, I know plenty of things.

I don't want to point a finger at anybody, but I've been here for 10 years and I've been treated with nothing but respect and love my entire career. I feel like I've done it the right way as long as I can. He also went on to talk about how you just can't be sensitive and overly sensitive during contract negotiations. Once it's done, you've got to move on. But I do find it interesting, and I've pointed this out now for several weeks consistently, that anybody close up, of this situation or anybody close to him hasn't backed him. They've all essentially been unsupportive of him. So that is a tell people. You can't find one person that supports him. I'm sorry? He's fired his agent and has a new one, I think. Well, there's been no reporting

of a new agent yet. Have you seen that? Okay, but he did fire his old agent, right? Yeah, he finally did. He thought he had fired him months earlier and certainly they had I guess agreed to part but he hadn't filed the paperwork with the players union until one of those video rant weekends that he was on.

This guy is so self-destructive and he It's exhausting. And all I can think of now is if it's true that he's going to be living near the park is he just going to show up?

Like on the fan visiting days for training camp next week and beyond, is he going to show up and say, I'm ready to roll in all of his commander's gear? I mean. George Costanza after he got fired. Just, yeah. No one will remember what happened on Friday. Yeah.

Yeah. I mean, seriously. Like, why? Maybe they'll do it next week when they meet with the media. when I say they, you know, Quinn and Peter specifically. Because they could have at this point leaked something to an Adam Schaefter or an Ian Rappaport, Washington will not be interested in Brandon Ayuk if he becomes available. They haven't done that yet.

We've had some reporting that from guys like Jeremy Fowler and others that suggest that they're probably not interested anymore, which, by the way, could just be common sense dictating that. It really hasn't been in report form. Right. I just... I don't see it. I don't see it. I think there'd be a significant backlash.

Not a revolt, but a backlash. What if he shows up? And he's just hanging out outside the ropes, watching him practice. and there's just a big hullabaloo going on around Brandon Ayuk. The team's practicing and out there on the side of the road in the parking lot, he's holding a press conference and that's where all the media is. I'm being serious here for a moment. I know.

You can't put anything past him at this point other than doing something that actually gets him back into the league. but that would be one of those situations where you'd have to have an Adam Peters somebody that knows him say, hey man, we can't have you here. We're trying to conduct a training camp. You're not eligible to play for us.

And we're not interested. Maybe they don't say that. I don't know how they would say that. And then, by the way, Tommy, then if he doesn't leave, you know, you do a brunch. Monk's tail move. And you get some of the big fellas on offense or defense and say, now's you can't leave. And you take care of it that way. But you can't have him be disruptive. No, you can't.

I think we got some, I think we got some shenanigans headed our way with this guy, if he's really in Northern Virginia. I think you may. Because it's very possible. Look, some of the people closest to the situation are concerned for him. Steve Young expressed concern for his mental state of mind right now. I mean, it's hardly a big jump at this point to say, based on all the videos, the guy's not all there. He's not completely with us. He may be suffering from something. Yeah.

All right. Training camp's underway. Rookies are there. Next week, we got a full week of... Veterans report by Wednesday, by Tuesday, first practice Wednesday, Adam Peters, Dan Quinn's scheduled to speak next week. Be interesting. Here's a question for you. How do you ask Adam Peters about Brandon Ayyuk so that you can get an answer that helps you?

Because he can't say he's interested because that's tampering. can he say that he's not interested? Can he say that we're not interested in adding any other receivers to our room? How do you ask that question? Are you going to be there next week? No, I'm not going to be there next week. So how would you ask that question? Because somebody, you have to ask about IUC, right?

Yes. Okay. Multiple times, I think. Okay. So? You just can't let them get away with their pat-ans. You have to make them repeat it a couple of times. So?

so I mean you know I would say right off the top of my head it's something I would give more thought to than I am now but uh you know uh you know Dan uh the media uh the dominating story in the all Dan did you say did you say Dan you meant Adam I said I'm talking about Quinn oh oh Quinn okay I mean you're not going to be able to talk to Adam Peters next week you think yeah I think They're going to do a dual press conference. That's what they've done, I think, on the first day of camp for the last two years. I think so. Adam, the story that's dominated your team in the media in the past couple months has been a receiver who's not here, Brandon Ayuk.

And he's posted numerous social media items that indicate he wants to come play in Washington. Does that bother you? I can't comment. on a player that's on another roster. Okay. Does it bother you that we're writing about it and talking about it? Again, I can't comment on a player... I'm asking you to comment about a player.

I'm asking you to comment on the coverage. You're asking me to comment on the coverage of a player that I can't talk about because he's on another roster. I'll ask you tomorrow. I mean, that's what you're going to get from him. I think... I mean, don't you want to just say, look, we understand that there is some risk in talking about an interest level in a player. Are you willing to say that you have no interest in Brandon Ayuk if he were to become available?

The Nats open up a three-game set with Arizona, the team that currently holds the third wildcard spot in the National League. I read this quote from Blake Boutera yesterday on the podcast. I don't know if you saw it. But after they beat Colorado the other day, you and I were recording the show on Wednesday when the game started. They won that game 8 to nothing, another 14 hits, eight runs. And he said that it felt extremely important to win that game.

He said, I just had that feeling it was important. We're sitting here. obviously we know the standings. Everyone in the clubhouse knows the standings. We know the trade deadlines around the corner. It's on TV every day. People are talking about playoffs, trade deadline, buyers, sellers, all those different types of things. And I know this is the first time in a while that a lot of these guys have played meaningful baseball here late in July, hopefully going into August. So we're having fun with this. And I thought in reading that the other day, yesterday, that he's essentially saying, please don't take my players away from me that can help us get to this wild card spot because we have a legitimate chance. And I think a loss to Colorado, which would have meant a lost series to a bad team, would have gotten them closer to being sellers than buyers or standstillers. What do you think? That may be.

I think it's good that he's verbalizing these kind of things, talking about how they are in a race, and they have reached a point in the season where there's important decisions to be made. And I think has addressed some of these things on 106-7 offense and has been pretty open that's saying that while, you know, there's decisions have to be made, they are certainly interested in adding to their team to compete. So he hasn't ruled it out either. So, I mean, I think it's good that they're both talking as if competing for postseason is in play right now still. Yeah.
