You don't want it.
You don't need it.
But you're going to get it anyway.
The Kevin Cheon Show.
Here's Kevin.
The wait is over.
Finally, real NFL football tonight.
That NBC Sunday night theme will lead us along with Mike Tariko and Chris Collinsworth
into tonight's Thursday night season kickoff game in Philadelphia
where the defending champion Eagles face.
The Cowboys, the first of 16 week one games.
No buys in week one.
We've got a game tomorrow night in Brazil between the Chargers and Chiefs.
13 more on Sunday, including Washington hosting the Giants at 1 and the bills hosting the Ravens on Sunday night football.
That very much feels like the game of the week, a rematch from the divisional round of the postseason last year.
And then week one will close out Monday night with the Bears hosting the Vikings.
Tommy is here.
I am here.
The show's presenting sponsor is always Window Nation.
Call them at 86690 Nation or head to WindowNation.com if you need new windows.
Tommy, the country's passion is football.
We got it last week in the form of college football.
but tonight, roughly 30 million people will watch Dallas at Philadelphia.
I know how I feel when the NFL season kicks off,
and I know how many who are listening feel.
Do you feel it like we do or not?
Yes, I do.
I don't feel like there's been a void in my life because I enjoy baseball so much.
But I look forward to football season.
I mean, it's fall season my favorite year.
I love watching football on TV.
looking forward to watching tonight's game.
Actually, I'm in Eagles Country in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
Oh, you are?
You didn't tell me that.
I am.
What are you doing up there?
Are you just, you know, another beach trip?
Just a couple of days that we took.
Yeah.
Because we didn't go to Wildwood for our vacation this year.
We went to Bethany.
Right.
And we like Wildwood.
So we spent a couple of days here and we're leaving this morning coming back home.
But we got great weather, great, and he saw a lot of Eagles fans.
My brother-in-law is an Eagles fan, and he's wearing an Eagles t-shirt.
And every 10 feet he walked by, somebody gave him an Eagles cheer or something like that.
Yeah.
So in South Jersey, they're ready for the Eagles.
You know, I love going, and it's been forever.
but when the kids were really young and not in school,
we did beach trips in September after schools had started
and then it was so peaceful and quiet at the beach.
It's like the best time of the year to be at the beach
is after all the kids go back to school and the families have left
and it's beautiful weather.
And yeah, God, I'm,
When you mention that, I'm like, oh, it would be so nice to be at the beach this week or next week.
I guess every school's back now.
Most schools start before Labor Day now.
Yeah, all the schools are back.
It's a really nice, beautiful weather.
The beach is great, not very crowded.
Restaurants are still open.
So, yeah, it's been good.
But I'm looking forward to getting back home and watching tonight's, you know, Dallas beating.
Yeah.
Let me mention right now no smell test pick on the game tonight.
I know that there is a lot of public action on Philadelphia, but there's a lot of sharp action on Philly as well.
So I'm going to stay off the game.
I kind of like the under, but it's not an official play.
And if you forced me to play a side, I'd probably take the points and Dallas.
And that number is sitting at plus eight at my bookie right now.
Don't forget, for those of you who want to sign up and bet on football this weekend,

You know, I was thinking, Tommy, about the Cowboys tonight.
They have always been because they haven't won the Super Bowl since the mid-90s.
They haven't been back to the Super Bowl since the mid-90s.
They now, in the NFC, have the longest drought between NFC championship games.
Washington had that distinction last year before making.
the NFC Championship game last year.
But it always feels like every year
there is a lot of pressure on Dallas
to not only make the postseason
but to finally do something in the postseason.
And I think the trade last week,
the Micah Parsons trade,
takes them off the hook this year
in terms of being on the list of teams
with the most pressure.
I just think the expectations,
even with Micah Parsons,
on the roster were dialed back significantly.
Although I did hear people talking about when Parsons was on the team.
Don't be surprised if the Cowboys make a run this year or end up being a surprise
playoff team.
But I think after that trade, I think they're very, very low to best case, moderate expectations
for the Cowboys.
And that means that, you know, at the top of the list of teams with pressure on
them entering this season. It's actually the same team from last year. Dallas was probably close,
but the Ravens have the most pressure on them heading into the 2025 season. Baltimore has come up
short postseason after postseason. And the problem, unlike with Buffalo, is that they haven't
played well in the postseason, specifically the quarterback, Lamar Jackson. Now, he wasn't terrible
last year, although there were a couple of
turnovers in that loss to Buffalo
in the playoffs. But
there's not a team that has anywhere
near the pressure Baltimore has
on them this year. And we won't know
how they handle it until we get to the
postseason because they've been a phenomenal
regular season team. And I'm not
suggesting that if they don't deliver a
Super Bowl trip at the very least, let alone
a Super Bowl victory that somehow they would start over, that they would go into rebuild mode.
You know, the Ravens don't really do rebuild, but that they'd, you know, consider moving on from
Lamar Jackson if he had another bad postseason loss because he's a two-time MVP.
They're not going to move on from him.
But it would, once again, if they don't get to a Super Bowl, and I think that's the minimum for
Baltimore now, it would just mean that the criticism, the scrutiny of the Ravens coming up short,
would carry over for another full off season, and they'd be right back where they are now a year
from now.
Yeah, I would agree with that.
The expectations for the Cowboys are to basically fail and fail miserably this year.
So, yeah, I don't think the typical cowboy expectations, delusional expectations,
delusional expectations are there this time around.
I think even Cowboy fans don't expect much out of their team.
But you're right about Baltimore, but they're not going to restart.
They've never done that.
You can count the number of losing seasons.
I think they've had in their existence, maybe on one hand.
Even when they do reset, and they really actually reset more than rebuild,
They're never really that bad.
So I don't see them ever starting over.
I just think like they transition.
And I don't think they'll do that as long as Lamar Jackson's their quarterback.
Yeah, I completely agree with that.
I mean, as much pressure as Baltimore is under,
as much pressure as Lamar Jackson is under, especially when they get to the postseason,
you're not moving on from a 28-year-old two-time MVP who very,
very easily could have been a three-time MVP last year with the season he had. He's 70 and 24 as a
regular season starter. But the three and five in the postseason in several games in which he did not
play well are the problem. But Baltimore's got the most pressure on its team. I think Buffalo is
second. But again, the big difference between Buffalo and Baltimore, Josh Allen and the
bills have played well. They've just lost classic games against the Chiefs. I think, by the way,
one other team, or maybe it's more a coach, I think Kyle Shanahan has pressure on him. You know,
the 49ers under Shanahan have been to two Super Bowls and lost both of them to the Kansas City
chiefs. They were in that NFC title game against the Rams in which they dropped an interception.
They were in the NFC championship game against the Eagles, which,
where Brock Purdy and then Josh Johnson got hurt.
You had Christian McCaffrey taking Wildcat snaps in that game to end it.
But I think Kyle's got some pressure on him to get to the Super Bowl and win it.
Not that they would fire him, I don't think.
But the 49ers after last year, they've got to have a healthy season in which they win double-digit games
and get back to the postseason and have a chance.
to get back to a Super Bowl.
But anyway, the problem with the 49ers is their most important weapon is also their most fragile,
and that's, you know, Christian McCaffrey.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, he's a small running back who's very explosive, but in order for him to carry through a season,
it's difficult seeing him hold up.
and that's their biggest problem
where it's like a team like the ravens
have a monster named
Derek Henry who's probably
going to hold up throughout the whole thing. I just think the
49ers
power to
to be elite lies with
Christopher McCaffrey and that's precarious.
I think the lions have
some pressure on them.
That's kind of
crazy to say but I
know where you are on that. I think
I think that they have some leeway here.
I mean, last year was, you know.
Yeah, but that was, I mean, they've had two years of coming close.
Yeah.
You know, and they don't have Ben Johnson now.
So I think they've got some pressure that they've got an answer to.
Yeah, they don't have their defensive coordinator either.
Both, you know, Aaron Glens in New England and Ben Johnson's in Chicago.
And they really were in.
Aaron Glenn is in, Aaron Glenn is with the jets.
I'm sorry, with the jets.
excuse me, Vrabels in New England.
The Lions had a lot of defensive injuries that really hurt them against us.
And at times down the stretch last year, you know who doesn't have any pressure on them?
Our team here, I don't think Washington has any pressure on it.
There are high expectations, certainly compared to years past,
but I think last year was such a pleasant, unexpected resuscitation of the season.
I think they've created a little bit of goodwill.
Now, you know, over the summer with Terry,
there were a lot of people screaming and yelling that if they don't get it done,
they've ruined all the goodwill that they built up.
That was never the case with me personally.
There are expectations on the team,
but if the team didn't, you know, win 20,
and go back to the NFC championship game,
I don't think that that would be something in which the team would be roundly criticized for.
The NFC is kind of loaded, but I don't know, that's my initial reaction.
I don't think there's any pressure on this particular franchise right now.
Do you agree or not?
Oh, you know, I don't think so, but then again, I think within the fan base there is.
maybe not outside the fan base, but I think within the fan base, there's pressure.
Again, I wrote about this.
There's pressure not to waste any of Jayden Daniels rookie contract seasons.
That's fair.
I kind of feel like, though, the pressure that we're talking about on Baltimore and Buffalo
wouldn't be on Washington for a few more years.
You know, if the skins ended up going, let's just say, 9 and 8 this year and missing the playoffs,
And next year they went 9 and 8 or 10 and 7 and made the playoffs and won a game but got eliminated.
Then we would get to, all right, you know, he's in his fourth year.
That first year was phenomenal.
They haven't come close yet to matching that.
It's time to get back to double-digit wins and making a run at the Super Bowl.
I don't feel that this year.
But I actually believe that they're well positioned.
to do something great this year.
But if they don't, I don't think it's like, you know, I don't know,
I had somebody email me yesterday saying the opener is a must win game against the Giants.
I don't feel that way at all.
I do think in 0-2 start, you know, going to Green Bay four nights later and losing and being
O and 2, it certainly would feel like, you know, from this seat today, panic would set in with a lot of the fans.
But it's a long season.
Baltimore, remember, lost their first two games last year, to Kansas City, and then to the Raiders at home.
And they ended up having a great season.
All right, are you ready for some predictions?
That's what today's show is about, and it's going to start with your Skins prediction for 2025.
Are you ready for it?
There's no doubt I'm ready for it.
Did you actually prepare for this segment?
Well, it depends what you mean on prepare.
I mean, I have something ready, if that's what you mean.
When did you put together the thing that you have ready?
No, not 20 minutes ago, but not too far from accurate.
All right, we're starting with in this opening segment,
your prediction for Washington's 2025 season.
So where are they going to end up at the end of 17 games in the regular season?
Well, they're going to finish second in the NFC East behind the Eagles with an 11 and 6 record.
11 and 6.
Still double-digit wins.
Yeah.
But one win less than last year.
11 and 6.
Well done.
I was thinking that you might go maybe a little pessimistic.
I don't know why I felt that way because you're never pessimistic.
You're always super optimistic.
But I thought that we were going to get like an 8 and 9 or a 9 and 8 from you.
11 and 6.
Now, you'll get to what happens in the postseason when we get to our NFC predictions.
But do you have a bold prediction for this season?
You know, I don't particularly like the bold prediction game.
Yeah.
But at your insistence, I played.
Yes.
And the best I could come up with Terry McClure and leads the NFC,
in receptions.
Ooh, that's bold, because he's never been close to leading the NFC and receptions.
You know, I'm looking at your predictions from last year.
You predicted 6 and 11 for the skins, and your bold prediction was Jaden Daniels only starts 12 games.
Not a strong year.
Look, I wasn't alone in that prediction.
No, well, the Jaden Daniels only starts 12 games was kind of out there.
thought it wasn't because you thought he wasn't going to be good. You thought he would get hurt.
Yes. I really had questions about the offensive line going in this last year.
Yes, you did. Which I don't this year. No. All right. 11 and 6. We'll find out if Tommy
advances Washington through the postseason when we get to our conference predictions in the next
segment is bold prediction. Terry McClorn leads the NFC in receptions. I will
have my Washington prediction on tomorrow's show along with my bold prediction. By the way, my
prediction last year was 10 and 7, so that one was good. But I had Brian Robinson Jr. making the
pro bowl as my boldest of predictions. I did have Zach Ertz with 80 plus catches, and I said
Duran Payne will have a monster year. I think I've said that pretty much every year since they
drafted him. All right. Let's get to our NFC.
and AFC predictions.
We'll save Tommy's giant skins pick for the final segment of this show.
We'll get to all of that and more right after these words from a few of our sponsors.
Are we finally ready for some football?

through our AFC predictions from last year, and that's where we're going to start this
segment with our AFC predictions. You had the Ravens, you had the Dolphins, you had the Dolphins,
over the Chiefs. You had a big surprise in the
AFC, Dolphins over the Chiefs, and I had
the Chiefs over the Jets in the
AFC championship game. Not too good.
All right, let's get started with our
AFC predictions. So give me, Tommy, your division
winners and then your three wild card teams out of the
AFC.
Okay.
The AFC East, I mean, it's pretty chalk.
You know, Buffalo and the AFC East, Baltimore and the AFC North, Kansas City,
in the AFC West, Houston in the AFC South.
Okay.
Okay.
Let me see.
In the AFC, in the wild card, I've got the chargers.
I've got Denver and I have Cincinnati.
You know, it's interesting about the AFC, and I was talking on the show yesterday on radio about it with my producer Max, is that there's really been an unbelievably consistent run of the upper tier teams.
Kansas City, Buffalo, and Baltimore have had runs here for a while now.
Houston's had a bit of a run in the AFC South the last couple of years.
It just seems like it's hard not to pick chalk.
In fact, every year when I do this, I'm always looking for like four, five, six sometimes of the playoff teams to be teams that weren't in the postseason the year before.
Because that's usually the way it works out in the NFL.
It's just hard to pick which ones.
I found it difficult to pick any major surprise teams this year.
I have, as you do, I have the Bills winning the AFC East,
the Chiefs winning the AFC West, the Texans winning the AFC South.
The biggest surprise in the AFC for me is I've got the Steelers winning the AFC North.
and then I have the Ravens, Bengals, and Chargers as wildcard teams.
You are such an Aaron Rogers fanboy.
Yeah, I'm definitely, it's not that I'm an Aaron Rogers fan boy.
I have been definitely irritated about the narrative about the way he's played the last few years.
You know, the idea, I mean, do you know how many times I hear somebody say he's been terrible for the last two years?
Two years ago he didn't play.
He tore his Achilles on the fourth play of the season.
He didn't play very good after that, did he?
It seems like there is this attempt to bury him.
And if you watched him play last year,
I said this all during the season.
I don't know, he looks like Aaron Rogers to me,
the way he throws the football, the decision-making,
the everything about it.
By the way, did you hear what Brady said the other day
on Chris Collinsworth's podcast about Aaron Rogers?
No.
He said Rogers is the greatest passer in the history of the game.
Just the greatest thrower of the football.
He would know that.
I'm sorry?
Tom Brady being a historian of the game, he would know that.
That sounds like sarcasm.
Rogers is in the conversation.
He's not Marino to me.
Marino in my lifetime of watching the NFL is the greatest thrower of the football I've ever seen.
And I know Sonny is considered to be in that category of the greatest pure passers in the history of the game.
Rogers is certainly in that conversation, though.
I'll grant you that.
Yeah, last year the Jets had a terrible defense, had a terrible kicker,
and had a dysfunctional, you know, situation in their front office and Sala getting fired.
I think this is a much more organized outfit in Pittsburgh.
They have a very good defense.
They should have a very good defense.
You never know for sure.
They've, you know, added D.K. Metcalfe.
They've got a nice rookie runner out of Iowa.
I think he is going to be somebody to watch.
I think Jalen Warren's good.
I think the Steelers are going to have the year that,
that Steelers fans have been waiting for with Mike Tomlin.
Like, not just, you know, how did he win nine games and get to the playoffs again?
I think the Steelers end up being, you know, in the hunt for the one overall seed.
I got him as the three seed behind the Chiefs and the Bills,
but I have them winning the AFC North.
All right, what is your AFC championship game matchup?
The AFC championship game.
Now, this is not chalk.
the Baltimore Ravens versus the Denver Broncos.
Wow. Okay. And who advances to the Super Bowl?
The Ravens.
There you go. Baltimore over Denver in the AFC title game.
What do you think of Denver?
I don't have Denver making the postseason.
Now, I think they could be really good.
I think it's going to be a battle in the AFC for those, you know, Denver would be right there.
I actually think that, and I wanted to pick some outlandish, you know, team to make a run and make the postseason.
Like I was thinking about the Panthers and the Giants and the NFC.
I was actually thinking about Tennessee in the AFC South with Cam Ward having a Jaden Daniels kind of rookie season.
I was thinking about the Patriots, although I took them on the under.
It seems like everybody believes the Patriots are going to be better.
than what they were last year.
You know, they're over under numbers super high for a team that won four games last year.
It's eight and a half.
But I couldn't find that surprise team in the AFC.
So I had Cincinnati in in terms of the teams that weren't in last year, and I had Denver out.
But Denver's good.
Denver's good on defense, too.
And, you know, they're well coached.
So that's an interesting A&A.
AFC title game, Baltimore over Denver.
That game, of course, would be in Baltimore because you've got Denver as a wildcard team
and Baltimore is a division winner.
I have the Chiefs going back to the Super Bowl beating Aaron Rogers and the Pittsburgh Steelers
in the AFC title game.
The Chiefs, I think, are better than they were last year on paper.
They certainly should be very good in.
Up front, by the way, there's going to be, you know, there's something to watch over the next several years.
And that is, Washington took Josh Connerly, Jr. in the draft in the first round at the end of the first round.
And a few picks later, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Josh Simmons.
Simmons was one of those players that potentially was in the running for Washington at 29.
Kansas City people are raving about Josh Simmons.
And we'll see.
The two Joshes, and if Washington got the right Josh,
will play out over, you know, the next several years.
But I think Kansas City is better,
and I think Patrick Mahomes is on a mission this year.
He did not have, and Kansas City wasn't the reason,
the offense wasn't the reason they made it to the Super Bowl.
he was clutch in every game that they needed him to be clutching.
He had seven fourth quarter comebacks last year,
and they won 15 games,
but he threw for less than 4,000 yards.
He threw 26 touchdowns, threw 11 picks.
I think Mahomes is going to have a big year.
I've got the Chiefs back in the Super Bowl.
Give me, go ahead.
It's amazing how many people.
There's a lot of people in the care Patrick Mahomes down,
business these days.
You know?
There's a lot of people to, I mean, I think he's the best quarterback I've ever seen.
And people are ready to basically knock him off his pedestal and put him third or fourth
right now in the NFL.
Yeah.
I don't think he's done at all.
He's still number one for me.
Yeah, me too.
He's still number one.
And I love Josh Allen.
I love Lamar.
I love Joe Burrow.
I love Jaden.
But Mahomes, to me, is still number one.
And the bottom line is, is that every time they needed him to play well and play big, he did.
And they won until the Super Bowl.
And, you know, they went out and they tried to strengthen, you know, themselves in the trenches
because they obviously got manhandled by Philadelphia in the Super Bowl.
All right, you've got Baltimore in the Super Bowl.
I've got the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Let's get to our NFC predictions.
And we'll do that right after these words from a few of our sponsors.

All right, Tommy, tell us about Shelly's.
Well, if it's Thursday, it's time for the Shelley specials at Shelley's back room at 1331 F Street, Northwest, in the district.
You know, I talk about food a lot when it comes to Shelly's.
And every week I give you the specials that they have on the menu for this week.
And that might seem unusual for a cigar bar to talk about their food.
But their food is that good.
their food is tremendous selection.
I mean, really good food, besides the great cigars and the great liquor that they have in a great atmosphere,
their food is really special.
And this week, they have the cassadilla burger as one of their specials.
Their custom blend beef with cheddar cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, and a flour tortilla,
and served with salsa, fresca and sour cream.
Do you like salsa?
I do like salsa.
Really?
Yeah.
I've never had salsa.
You've never had salsa?
Well, you're the guy that thinks Chipotle's only for women.
Well, that's true.
Yeah.
Okay.
But Shelly's not, you don't like Tex-Mex.
You don't like Mexican food?
No.
Really?
No, I don't.
No.
But this is a Caseda-D burger sounds good to you?
Yeah, that sounds really good to me.
Sure.
Okay.
Here's what sounds good to me.
A bacon-mushrum chicken melt without the mushroom.
That sounds good, too.
Grilled chicken breast, smoked bacon, sauteed mushrooms,
provolone cheese, my favorite cheese on a sandwich or burger,
on a potato Kaiser roll served with fries.
Those are two of your specials this week.
You can find out more at shelley's backroom.com.
Yes.
It is a great spot for food.
And not a bad spot to spark up a cigar and sit outside and watch the common men go to work.
Watch the saps work while you're sitting there smoking.
So I did want to read something before we got to our NFC predictions.
This from our guy, Dr. Ed.
Kevin, I went back to your 2019 draft podcast.
Dr. Ed, that's all you needed to write, and I was going to read this.
He went back six years to listen to my 2019 draft podcast.
It's there. I think every podcast we've ever done is available.
You said the Redskins were universally praised for their picks.
You sounded giddy, though you warned grades don't mean much.
You questioned Haskins as slow.
and mechanical. You loved Montez Sweat and liked but didn't love Terry McClorn, though you noted his
speed, toughness, and leadership. Your favorite pick was Bryce Love. You called him a game changer,
a mix of Chris Johnson, McCaffrey, and Camara. You were a tiny bit wrong on that one because he
never played it down in the NFL. Yeah, he had a serious injury coming in and never recovered from that.
By the way, the one thing I remember about the Bryce Love pick, specifically, I said before that final day of the draft, I said, Washington's going to select Bryce Love.
I had some information that the powers that B loved Bryce Love, and they were going to pick him if he were available.
You said the draft would be judged by Haskins, but in the end, it's McLaren who became the franchise cornerstone.
Isn't it interesting that from the very beginning you liked Terry but didn't love him?
Yet he's the one who turned out to be the most important pick of that draft.
Yeah, I mean, honestly, Dr. Ed, I would have never remembered my Terry thoughts.
I mean, he was a third round pick.
I very much remember what I thought about Dwayne Haskins.
I thought he was not a first round grade quarterback.
I remember going to Cooley, you've got to watch Haskins.
People are talking about him as a first-round pick.
I don't see it.
Cooley said, not even close.
He is barely a day two pick.
And then when he got in to the game, people sometimes confused it to and they'll say,
well, you loved him in the NFL.
No, I didn't love him.
After watching him, I wanted to see more of him because they had already taken him.
And I didn't want to see Case Keenham or Colt McCoy.
I wanted to see if there was a chance.
chance if he could do it. But I don't, that's so interesting. Part of me before the next draft
wants to go back and listen to the pre-draft shows. You know, I actually played back while I was on
vacation this summer what Kooley's pre-draft evaluation of Jaden Daniels was. It was off the charts.
he's like there's no way anybody else but this guy is the pick.
Thank you, Dr. Ed.
By the way, you know what?
Guys go back and listen to some of the old shows.
We get credit for downloads, even if you listen to a show from 2019.
2019, six years.
That's pre-COVID.
Well, yes, it is.
Relevant, Your Honor?
That's pre-COVID.
Right.
and? I mean, that's, well, my point is, that's like another existence. That's like another time.
Like, the world was different pre-COVID. My God, you know, we're in trouble if people start digging up what we said six years ago.
Oh, my God, of course we are. Do you know how, I mean, the hit rate on the things that we've said over the years, there's, I would like to think that it's at least 50%, but I'm not so sure that if we went back and did an audit.
that it would be 50%,
especially on the draft for crying out loud.
But thank you, Dr. Redd, for, by the way, your devotion to this podcast.
I'm glad you enjoyed going back.
And I guess I missed the point here in talking about the point is when he said,
isn't it interesting that from the very beginning you liked Terry but didn't love him?
And my take on Terry all along is that I really like him.
I just don't think that he is what.
Some of our fans believe he is, which is an elite wide receiver.
I've never seen that.
I think he's very good, and he's certainly been, you know, an incredible guy in this organization.
But yeah, I guess that's the way I felt from the very beginning.
I would not have remembered how I felt about Terry from the very beginning.
I do remember this about Terry from the very beginning.
I remember talking to people in that first part of the offseason,
and then they said he's going to be outstanding on special teams.
But Jay Gruden has told us we knew almost from the beginning when we saw him that we had something that we didn't even know we had.
And you remember, they basically kept him under wraps during the preseason and then debuted him in that 2017, I'm sorry, 2019 opener at Philadelphia where he caught a long bomb from Case Keenum and had a real, you know, incredible.
first day. All right, let's get to our NFC picks. I'm not going to give you, again, my Washington
record. I am going to save that for tomorrow show, but you're going to find out right now how far I
have Washington advancing this season, because I will start with my NFC picks, Tommy. I have
Washington winning the NFC East. I have Green Bay winning the NFC North. I have Green Bay winning the NFC North,
I have Tampa Bay winning the NFC South, and I've got San Francisco winning the NFC West.
I do like San Francisco to be the number one seed in the NFC playoffs.
I think San Francisco is going to end up with the best overall record and be the one seed.
The wild cards are Philly, the Rams, and the Lions.
So again, a lot of chalk.
I only have one team that wasn't in the postseason last year in the postseason this year.
This is very unlike my typical annual predictions where I have a lot more surprises.
Only Cincinnati and the AFC didn't make the playoffs among my predictions and only San Francisco.
But those are the division winners and wild cards.
What about yours?
Well, my division winners are in the NFC North.
I've got Green Bay winning the division, the NFC West.
I have the Rams winning the division over San Francisco.
The NFC South, I have Tampa Bay.
And in the NFC East, I have Philadelphia repeating as the division winners.
That would be the first NFC East division repeat since 2004.
Who are your wild cards?
My wild cards are Washington, Detroit,
and Minnesota.
Do you think this is the first time we've done this
where we've both had Washington in the playoffs?
Since we've been doing this podcast, absolutely.
Since we've been doing anything together, radio, anything else.
I bet you maybe in 2013, maybe we thought they would go back to the postseason,
or maybe in 2016 we both thought.
But God, it's the, you know, be hard to find that.
You know what? We could put Dr. Ed on it.
He could go back and listen to some of our radio shows from 2013.
All right.
So my NFC championship game is Washington at San Francisco.
That's my NFC title game.
Washington at San Francisco.
By the way, that's the stadium in which the Super Bowl will be played.
this year. Two weeks later, the Super Bowl will be played. So they're going to play the NFC
championship game in Santa Clara. And then two weeks later, they're going to be in the Super Bowl.
I have Washington in 2025 representing the NFC in the Super Bowl, Super Bowl 60.
What is your NFC championship matchup and who do you have advancing to the Super Bowl,
face Baltimore.
Well, if you thought both of us picking Washington to make the playoffs was unusual,
this is really going to get you.
I have Washington going to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers in the NFC title game.
In January, outside.
Yeah.
And still, I have Washington winning and going on to the football.
Oh, my God.
Yes.
This is crazy.
Which sets up one of the greatest moments of all time.
Who will play in the Super Bowl?
Baltimore in Washington.
Yes.
I've got the Chiefs in Washington.
And by the way, they'll be doing the Tomahawk chop,
and they'll be talking about the Chiefs versus the commanders.
It'll make me get sick in my stomach.
But at the same time, Washington will be represented in the Super Bowl.
Wow.
We're insane, right?
I mean...
I'm caught up in the Jane Daniel solar system.
I am too.
I am too.
I'm blinded by the light.
I am too.
Look, last year, 10 and 7 was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but you know how optimistic.
You knew how optimistic I was about Jaden Daniels.
And I said, it's going to show sooner rather than later how good he is.
And that's why I went out on a limb and said, if he's as good,
as I think he could be. They could win 10 games and make the postseason.
Obviously, had no idea and would have never predicted that they would have ended up in the NFC
championship game. I think I had them, I don't know what I had them doing. Losing in the wild card
round, maybe winning one game, I forget what it was. This year, I just see a major step
forward season for Jaden Daniels and the offense. They're better on offense. They're better up front.
They've added another weapon.
It's year two in this system.
Here's what Zachert said about him, I think yesterday.
Let me just find this.
Zachert said, quote, about Jaden Daniels.
The humility has been the surprising thing.
You don't get drafted number two without the physical traits, right?
He's fast.
He can make all the throws, all that.
But it's his ability to be one of the guys that sets him apart.
I don't throw his name around,
lightly, but he's a lot like Andrew Luck in that way,
Ertz of his former college quarterback.
At Stanford, it was never about Andrew.
Here, it's never about Jaden.
They're the best player on the team, but they just want to be one of the guys.
That's rare.
I'm telling you, that's rare.
Quinn said yesterday, you guys have been around him enough to know that he has a rare focus
about him, and the best players I've been around have
had that through my years.
I mean, going into the second year of RG3, we were hearing so much that was not positive.
Have we heard one negative thing about Jaden Daniels?
One.
Not one.
Publicly or privately?
Not one.
I mean, I said this off-season would be a test for Jaden to see if he got to chase young
disease and was doing game shows, you know?
instead of his, instead of showing up for OTAs.
Right.
Just the opposite.
This guy, I mean, occasionally, except for showing up to watch the mystics play or at some sporting event,
he really was fairly invisible in the offseason.
He did a few things here and there.
Yeah.
But, you know, he was very selective.
You could tell, I mean, from all he heard, he never wavered from his offseason commitment
to getting better.
So, I mean, he gets an A for the old.
off season as well.
We both have Washington
in the Super Bowl.
I've got them up
against the Chiefs, you've got them up
against the Ravens. We'll give you
our Super Bowl winner,
and Tommy will pick the
giant skins opener when we
come back. This segment of the
show brought you by MyBooky.

the Cowboys' 8-point underdog
at Philadelphia in the NFL season opener.
The total in the game is 47.5.
Washington remains a six-point favorite over the Giants.
The total is down to 46 in that game.
What about Baltimore Buffalo?
Right now, the Ravens' one and a half point favorites in the Sunday night opener
against Buffalo.
The total is at 50 and a half.
That is a monster game week one here.
My bookie is the place to bet on football.

We're going to be certainly,
can you imagine if they start off O.N.2?
The Super Bowl predictions and the heat we will take.
By the way, if they start O and 2, I'm still going to be confident,
unless he gets hurt.
Unless he gets hurt, I'll still be confident that they can go have themselves a really good season.
I think the opener is going to be tough.
Yeah, that changes everything.
But O&2 would make for some interesting talk.
So what is your Super Bowl?
pick. You've got Baltimore
against Washington. Who wins
Super Bowl 60?
Unfortunately,
there'll be a total eclipse of the sun that day.
And the Baltimore
The game will be at night.
We'll wind up as the
champions, the NFL champions,
eating the Washington commanders.
But just remember,
the next best thing the winning
is playing and winning
is playing and losing.
I also have
Washington losing Super Bowl 60 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
I mean, there's something about the Chiefs this year that I think is going to be,
I think Mahomes is in store for a massive season.
But it will be their first trip of maybe a few to come, we'll see.
But I have the Chiefs over Washington in Super Bowl 60.
Wow. Tommy and I both have Washington in the Super Bowl on February 8th at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
That would be quite the trip. It would be back-to-back weeks. Not back-to-back. Back-to-back games for me two weeks later after the NFC championship game. You've got them winning the NFC title game at Lambo. All right. Let's finish up the show with your week one prediction, Washington and New York.
Well, I don't think we're going to have those interesting discussions that we're worried about
because I think Washington will come out on top in the season opener against the Giants by the score 24 to 14
and Terry McCorn will start his campaign to lead the league in receptions with two touchdown catches.
Okay, 2414. Terry picks up where he left off as if he never held out.
one down, 16 to go.
And we will be here every week with Tommy's game prediction.
All right, we're done.
Tommy, we put ourselves out there today.
No doubt they will be coming for us if the season goes poorly.
But we were justified this year.
This is not a Larry Michael bit.
We were justified.
They are one of the favorites in the NFC,
one of the favorites overall to win the school.
Super Bowl. They're, you know, eight overall, I think, to win the Super Bowl, top three or four in the
NFC to win the NFC championship. I feel good about it. I think you do, too. Great job. Enjoy the
football this weekend, and we will chat next week. Okay, boss. I'll be back tomorrow. Jay
Gruden will join me. I'll have my Washington season predicted record, smell test picks, all that on
tomorrow's show. Enjoy the opener tonight, everybody.
