You don't want it, you don't need it, but you're going to get it anyway.
The Kevin Sheehan Show, here's Kevin.
Tommy's here. I am here.
The show's presenting sponsors, always Window Nation, 86690 Nation or Window Nation.com.
If you need new windows, Tommy, this comes from John W.
John W. Wrights, Kevin, I see what's going on here.
You're going to finish with your best win percentage with the smell test this year.
Then next year is going to be a disaster like this year's skin season.
Enjoy it because it's going to sting like this three and eight debacle, hoping I'm wrong.
Of course.
I'm 87 and 50 on the year.
It really is stunning.
It's shocking.
And I was going to give out Carolina all weekend long.
going to give out Carolina last night. And then I got a little bit of some information yesterday that
said it was kind of split on the sharp action and there was some more sharp money coming in
on San Francisco. So I passed and it just worked out. Total charmed smell test season. Yeah, this has a
chance to be the best year I've ever had. I have had, I'm pretty sure, two other seasons. It's
been a while um but i think some of the first like two of the first four or five years i think i
was doing the rigging show when i introduced this uh i think i was 64 percent like two out of
the first five or six years which was insane i'm basically it's 63.7 percent 64 percent right
now you know if you round up um but uh yeah uh i will what are you going to do with all your money
well i don't make money off smell test picks now i make money off of it but it's not like
somebody's paying me to put my picks on their website no no i mean what are you doing with your
wedding i'm assuming you have you put your money where your mouth is oh yeah i've been paid
a few times this year christmas is going to be good kids
christmas is looking pretty good um you know there there's that old
the line, you know, sorry, kids. Daddy, Beth and
Nicks, Santa's not coming.
Oh, no, it's been...
Santa's coming and he's bringing friends.
This year, Santa's bringing a lot.
Look, Christmas is still a month away,
exactly to the date here on November 25th.
And a lot could go wrong down the stretch.
People have gotten sick of me saying
every week, look,
it's going to end here.
There's no way it can continue.
It just doesn't work that way.
And so I had one guy send me a note, and he's basically said,
you've convinced me not to take your picks for about two weeks in a row.
So I decided to go the other way.
You're killing me.
Yeah, it's been insane.
So tomorrow, on tomorrow's show, if there are Thanksgiving Day picks, and there may be,
I will have those and the Friday games on tomorrow's show.
No Thursday podcast on Thanksgiving Day.
Obviously, I will have a podcast on Friday.
But the Thursday and Friday picks for the smell test will be on tomorrow's show.
And then on Friday show, I'll give you the Saturday and Sunday picks.
You know, I've talked about this already.
And you and I've talked over the years, we do this show together now.
every year going back to 2008 or whatever it's been.
You know, usually for many years, it was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with you on
the podcast.
It's your last Tuesday show before Thanksgiving.
But this may be the best Thanksgiving day lineup of football I can ever remember.
I mean, you have Packers Lions a showdown in the NFC North.
I think most people don't think Chicago will end up winning the division that one of these two teams will win it.
And the Lions lost the opener to the Packers, so they have to win.
You then have what everybody has said will be the most watched regular season NFL game in history,
the Chiefs at the Cowboys, with their dramatic wins.
And then on Thanksgiving night, Joe Burrow returns for the best.
Bengals, and they're in Baltimore to face the Ravens.
You know, I mentioned, I had Herm Edwards on the show yesterday, and I had mentioned it,
I think maybe earlier in the podcast or the day before, like something didn't look right
about Lamar Jackson.
Something hasn't looked right about Lamar Jackson.
You know, you know what?
I felt, and I thought we were going to talk about this, because I've watched a lot of the
Ravens.
You watch more Ravens than anything else.
Let's just be honest with everybody.
Yeah, you like the Ravens.
That's not true.
Well, it's your son that likes.
Your son's a big Ravens, fancy you follow them.
Yeah, but I watch the commanders more than anybody else.
Well, because you have to.
Okay.
Yeah.
Right.
Because I have to.
But it's because you have to.
Yes.
My point is, is like, he has shown really poor pocket presence a lot of times this year.
Lamar Jackson.
Not aware of his impending doom at any given moment.
I don't know if that's related to any issues he's having or what.
Well, it was reported late yesterday that he missed their walkthrough
because they're playing on Thursday night.
They're just having walkthroughs before that.
That now he's dealing with a different injury for like the third straight week.
it said he's got a toe injury now.
Look, he's never had.
Last year, I thought, was the best year for Lamar Jackson as a passing quarterback.
You know, I think it was statistically.
I think last year was his best year throwing the football from almost every standpoint.
Touchdowns.
He was like 41 and 3 or something last year.
Yeah, 41 and 4.
41 and 4 was it.
And I'm pulling it up right now.
It had to be his best yardage season.
And I said he's as polished as he's ever been as a pocket passer.
Now, it's still not, you know, it's not Joe Burrow as a pocket passer.
It's not your traditional pocket passer.
He still makes most of his big plays throwing the football off schedule.
4,172 yards last year, by far and away, his biggest year.
completion percentage was tied for his second best year.
41 touchdowns, four interceptions.
And he was sacked the least amount of times in his career since his rookie season
when he was clearly much more of just a flat out running quarterback.
Now, to your point, he's been sacked this year in eight games, 24 times,
which is one more than he got sacked the entire season last year.
So he's not feeling it.
The clock collapses on him and, you know, it happens a lot.
It's his inability to evade it.
He's not, like, what's really struck me is when I've watched them recently,
and I've been saying for a few weeks,
I'm not a believer that the Ravens are like this lock.
to win the division because they don't look good.
I mean, they shouldn't have beaten the Browns.
The Jets were hanging in there.
They had the lead at halftime.
Here, Lamar Jackson, in his last two games,
he's rushed for 21 yards, 21 in his last two games.
He's not running.
And so that leads to more sacks, Tommy,
because he's not feeling like Lamar Jackson feels.
But anyway, you know, this isn't a show about the Ravens.
Although we may introduce Ravens at 1 for everybody.
We did that many years ago.
It really, I think we went with it for like a week,
and it really pissed people off because we had to do it for more than just one day.
We had to make people believe that we had actually switched
from our segment called Redskins at 1.
one to Ravens at
one. So we carried it out for like
three days and had guests on
and people are like, oh my God, they really
did it. They really did
it. No, we did.
Those were during the dark days.
Those were really dark days.
I can't remember what year
we did it.
But anyway, the Thanksgiving
Day lineup is sensational.
I mean, all three of those
games. Now, what is your deal?
Will you be able, because the skins aren't playing, you don't have to worry about tucking yourself away in a separate room with a card table and a turkey sandwich.
But are you at that, you know, in that situation where nobody cares about football?
Oh, absolutely.
Like I said, my in-laws, you know, make the Walton's look like a motorcycle gang.
And they don't, nobody cares about football.
Maybe a couple of brother-in-laws do.
but like me, they've already been beaten in the submission, you know?
So, and it's, it's the way they do it.
They don't do it.
They don't say, no, you can't watch television.
You can't watch football.
They make it seem like you're, like you're the biggest sinner in a room full of saints, you know?
Yeah.
You even think about watching football.
So you just kind of like, just go along it.
So, you know, you're right.
This is a remarkable day of football, and I don't see me watching any games at all.
Maybe, you know what, I think I'll be home in time for the Bengals Ravens.
I'll be home in time for that.
Well, where are you?
Are you in Pennsylvania?
Are you in Ph.
I'll be going to Westchester, PA.
Okay.
So you're...
But just for the day, and I'm coming back.
Okay.
You know what's interesting about that?
Look, we've talked about this many times.
It's like, you know, we're in this.
this bubble of
sports and
specific to this show
and the shows that we do and what you write
about, you know, D.C. sports
and even more
drilled down, really the football
team in this town is
everything. And yet
most people don't care about sports.
You know, there are 330
or 340 million people in this country.
Most people actually don't care about sports.
But with that said,
football is an Americana thanksgiving day tradition.
Since I was growing up.
I know.
So for people who hate sports, for your in-laws that make the Walton's
look like a motorcycle gang, don't they at least know that football is actually
kind of, it doesn't have to be a part of their holiday.
Okay, that's fine.
but don't they know that it's a big part of Thanksgiving Day tradition in America?
I don't think so.
Not in their Thanksgiving.
Not in their tradition.
But I'm not saying it's with them, but do they know it is with a lot of people?
They know it is, but on Thanksgiving Day, it's not on their radar.
They don't even think, oh, wow, there's football going on today, unless somebody,
some he even like me mentioned it.
You are a heathen for mentioning it.
Oh, my God.
That is so funny.
And you're right.
This is, I mean, high school football games.
I grew up with high school games.
Yeah.
A turkey day game on Thanksgiving.
Right.
You're right.
It's an American tradition.
Well, Thanksgiving's American.
I mean, but I.
Like a football on Thanksgiving.
Yes.
Uh, it's an American tradition.
Family friends.
I'm not just professional football, but high school football.
The four.
People getting together and playing Sanlott football on Thanksgiving Day.
I mean, with my boys when they were young, we got up every Thanksgiving Day morning and we went up to a field at a high school near our house and we played football in the morning.
I wanted them to have that football tradition, but playing and getting out in the sometimes very cold or, you know, damp, you know, morning.
But it's, you know, it's the four Fs.
It's family, friends, food, and football.
That's Thanksgiving Day in America.
There are parades and other things, and there are other traditions that people have.
I mean, look, my wife understands when the Redskins have played on Thanksgiving, yeah, we're going to have to plan around that one.
and they have played on Thanksgiving a lot, you know, this century.
Yes, they have.
You know, it wasn't a lot for a while, but, man, they have been on a lot on Thanksgiving Day in recent years.
And she hates it.
God, by the way, the fact that they're not playing on Thanksgiving Day, I told her that,
and then I broke the really bad news that they were playing on Christmas Day.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because she just couldn't care less.
But, you know, so the TV will be on, football will be on.
Most of my guests, I don't say most of them, but half of them are going to want the games to be on.
But once we sit down for dinner, there are no TVs on anywhere.
That's it.
And you can pause it, you can record it and go back.
But we are going to have Thanksgiving dinner, and that's not going to be.
a part of it. And I think most people probably
do some version of that.
But
it is, to me,
it's, I find it interesting
just your situation.
Remember my good friend Kenny.
I've talked about Kenny.
Oh yeah. Many times before.
You know, Kenny's a diehard
Cowboys fan and he has
a family of in-laws
like yours that,
you know, football's just not a part of this
holiday. And it's, you know, he's a heathen for believing that, you know, football's a part of
this holiday. And he's a massive Cowboys fan. So for many, many years, you know, he essentially had,
you know, was relegated to a separate room by himself where he could watch the Cowboys game there.
But then it came to a head one year when the mother-in-law invited everybody to go to Disney World with
kids for Thanksgiving, but she gave him an ultimatum.
And it was, you can come, we want you to come, but you're not allowed to watch the
Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, this Thanksgiving.
Do you remember that?
Yeah.
And that was so underhanded.
Yeah.
And we took calls.
We had people calling in suggesting what he should do.
and you know what he chose not to go they chose not to go his wife stood up his wife stood up for him
his wife said good it told the mother this is wrong it's not fair this is something that's important
to him this is a great family opportunity you're so generous he recognizes the generosity
but tying it to this is absurd you know and uh so they didn't go let me ask
ask you a question.
Yes.
If your wife wasn't involved in the decision-making, if there was no pressure, would you
take your Thanksgiving meal, your plate, fill up your plate, and go sit down and watch
football if you could?
Not really.
I enjoy...
Really?
No, I really enjoy these holidays.
I enjoy my family and my in-laws and the conversations that go on.
And no, I mean, I can always go back and watch it.
And I typically do if there's something to watch.
You know, this Cowboys' Chiefs game is really something else, though.
I mean, to have these two teams in that spot,
and we've talked about this before, you eat, correct me if I'm wrong,
but you are, I think, with much of the country,
You eat Thanksgiving with your in Philly and Westchester, PA.
You're going to eat early in the day, correct?
Well, actually, we told the be there by two,
so I'm thinking we're going to be eating by 3 or 3.30.
So I think, you know, I think we've looked this up before.
I don't feel like looking it up again.
I mean, maybe things have changed.
But like that 12 to, it's I think 12 to 3, 3, 3 to 6, or it's, yeah, 12 to 2, 2 to 4,
four to six or six or later and like 12 to two is number one most people eat thanksgiving day
dinner as like a supper or a lunch or whatever you would call it we're late we always do it at
around seven my wife likes it to be dark out which by the way it is at about five 15 anyway
five o'clock anyway but we usually don't eat until around seven o'clock people get
there at around four and we don't eat until about seven. I mean, plenty of appetizers,
plenty of, you know, cocktails for sure. And then we sit down and eat at seven. But to answer
your question, obviously, if the skins are on, no. I mean, that game's going to be watched in its
entirety and we'll have dinner when the game ends because their games have always been the
430 game in Dallas, although they did play at night one year. But no, I don't have any
you with that game going on and then coming back and catching up, you know, after the fact.
Yeah.
You know, for me, the real tradition growing up in East Strasbourg was it was the, it was the
Turkey Day game between Strasbourg and East Strasbourg.
I mean, and they would play at 10 in the morning.
And it was like, it was like Woodstock for the Berks, you know, for the Poconos.
Yeah.
I mean, a place would be packed with people, and if Strausburg won in East
Trousburg Stadium, they would march all the way across to their high school, which was
probably about two miles away, over the inner borough bridge in uniform, you know,
spikes, helmet, the works, and there will be thousands of people following them.
And the other way, too, if East Trousburg won over in Stroudsburg, everybody would
march back over to East
Strasbourg to celebrate.
And they don't do that anymore
because
now they're, because now
the league play has become more important.
And it gets in the way of league play
because it was a game that happened so late in the season.
Got it.
You know, so Strasbourg and East Trousburg
play a regular season game
like in October or something like that.
And it's kind of lost its meaning,
at least for me.
so that was that's the greatest football tradition i remember
oh my god i mean high school football uh thanksgiving day
traditions uh all over the country i mean just again that's football's just a part of this
holiday and it's it's interesting how there are people and you know probably the majority
of people that have no concept of that but you know um you know let me just tell you what i
would like to see happen on Thanksgiving
Day sometime in the near future
and I looked this up and it can happen.
So Washington's
played, you know, Dallas on Thanksgiving
a lot. They played
Detroit on Thanksgiving one
time in 1973.
They were actually the
defending NFC champions. They had
lost the previous Super Bowl
Super Bowl 7 to the
perfect 72 dolphins.
And they played
in Tiger Stadium in
1973 on Thanksgiving Day. And then the next year, 1974, they played in Dallas on Thanksgiving
Day. And that's the famous Clint Longley game. But the only other Thanksgiving Day games they've
had, you know, since playing Detroit is all of these Dallas games on Thanksgiving Day. And they
hosted, if you recall, in 2017, the Thanksgiving Day night game against the Giants. And they won that
game 20 to 10. I'd like to see Washington played Detroit in the early Thanksgiving Day game one
year. Like, again, it happened in 73, and I do barely remember it. I do, because 71's really the
first season I remember. But, you know, Detroit and Dallas have this Thanksgiving Day, you know,
this tradition. But Detroit's had it the longest on Thanksgiving Day. It's such a big deal. Remember,
it wasn't that long ago. NFL fans
are like, take this game away from the
lions. They just... They were so
bad. So bad. Right, for so long.
Well, next year,
Washington could
play Detroit. If Detroit finishes
in the same spot in the
division, I mean, I think they're going to finish
first or second, and Washington's probably going to
finish third, but they could finish third.
And Washington could still finish second
if they got on a roll.
But they could play
Detroit next year on the road.
In 27, they also play an NFC North equivalent in terms of where they finish in the standings on the road.
And in 2028, they are scheduled to play the Lions on the road.
So they actually have a potential stretch of three straight seasons of having Detroit as a road opponent.
There's no guarantee in 26 or 27.
We won't know that until the end of each season.
I'd like to see because if they played the early game, that's much easier for everybody.
Although a lot of people eat early, but for us, it'd be over and the guests would be arriving, you know, a half an hour or, you know, a little while after the game ended.
We've always played Dallas.
I'd like to play Detroit on Thanksgiving.
But I'd like the team to be good when they play Detroit on Thanksgiving.
Like if it was scheduled for this year, like, hey, we're going to have Washington and Detroit playing Thanksgiving.
It wouldn't have turned out pretty well.
But, anyway, yeah, a good, not a good, a great lineup on Thanksgiving Day.
Yes, absolutely fabulous.
And that Kansas City Dallas game will be something.
The Chiefs are three-point favorites in that game on the road.
People love to hate the Chiefs, don't they?
They love to hate the Chiefs.
You know, the guy that I had, go ahead.
I love, I mean, Patrick Mahomes, and for me,
this is a big deal, it's the best quarterback I've ever seen play.
And I go back to seeing Johnny Unitas play.
Yeah.
You know, so I marvel at him, but the hatred for this franchise is Patriots like.
Um, yeah, you know, Mike North, the schedule guy that I had on in the spring said Kansas
cities become the new Dallas when it comes.
to television, which I thought was interesting.
I just didn't see anybody ever, you know,
but Dallas is now having a season,
so we'll see how that plays out.
By the way, you know, you mentioned Johnny Unitas.
Do you know who tied Johnny Unitas this past weekend
for career touchdown passes?
Joe Flacka?
Nope.
Kirk Cousins.
Kirk Cousins did.
Kirk Cousins tied Johnny Unitas.
They're tied for 17th on the all-time touchdown passing list.
It's actually pretty amazing.
The Kirk's the 17th all-time touchdown thrower.
And he should, now that he's playing the rest of this year,
he'll have a really good chance to pass Warren Moon, Carson Palmer,
and even potentially John Elway to move into 14th on the all-time touchdown list.
Joe Flacco, by the way, is 21st on that all-time list,
and already Patrick Mahomes is 22nd.
Tom Brady's got 649 career touchdown passes, okay?
Number two on the list is Drew Breeze, three is Peyton Manning,
four is Aaron Rogers, five's Brett Farve, six Phillip River,
7, Dan Marino, that it's Rathusberger, Stafford, Matt Ryan. Mahomes at 263 is still
406 touchdown passes away from Brady's record.
Yeah.
I mean...
See Brady throwing passes before games on the sideline?
Yes, he looked good.
In a suit?
He looked awfully good.
He could still do it.
There's no doubt he could still do it.
I got this from, who sent this?
I don't know the name of the person now
because I cut and pasted it into my thing
and I cut out his name.
Whoever sent the following, thank you.
U.O. Laverro, an apology.
He never said Hopkins lost them a game.
He clearly said, Gano.
Somewhat else followed up and said,
Laverro was right.
He clearly, he said Gano.
you two are like an old married couple.
You don't listen to each other.
Yeah, that's true.
You know, speaking of kickers last night,
Matt Gay for the San Francisco 49ers was two for two.
I know.
Didn't miss a kick last night,
and his two field goals last night were from 47 yards out and 29 yards out.
So his issue is really 50 or more.
But throw Matt Gay into the Emanuel, onto the Emmanuel Forbes, Cam Curl, Zane Gonzalez.
And oh, by the way, Brian Robinson, Jr., looking pretty good as Christian McCaffrey's backup.
Seven carries last night for 40 yards.
He averaged 5.7 yards per carry.
Yeah.
I think people who are upset about drafts, we've had this conversation, I, I,
I just disagree.
It's just way too early to judge Adam Peters or, you know, his drafts in 24 and 25.
And the perfect example is Emmanuel Forbes.
I mean, everybody wanted him gone.
Ron Rivera and company, they're complete fools for drafting him.
Now that he is, you know, well into his third season, you can start to kind of, you know, see you've got to wait on some of these players.
But it's also player development.
You know, you've got to have the right people developing these players.
It's got to be the right fit for, you know, everybody.
And maybe he lost his confidence here as well.
That's part of it.
But if people are going to rip our new general manager, Adam Peters, for his drafts,
which I think is ridiculous, I think it's much more within reason to criticize not only Peters,
but also the coaching staff
for moving on from a guy like
Emmanuel Forbes.
Like it's your job to recognize
this guy's too talented
for us to give up on.
It's a development thing. We've got to find
the right spot for him. We've got to find the right
fit for him. That's
a first round pick. He had
first round talent. He wasn't a fluke.
Jamon Davis got picked
way too early. You know,
according to all the draft boards.
Forbes was a high riser.
Now, I would have taken Gonzales.
I talked about it at the time in front of Forbes.
But that's part of the issue with Forbes.
It's not just the anger that he didn't turn out.
It's the anger that who was available right after him.
That's fair.
But what I'm saying is, you know, Adam Peters didn't pick Emmanuel Forbes.
I know that.
I know that.
But he had him in his building.
Dan Quinn and Joe Witt, Jr., had Emmanuel Forbes, and by the way, they had a roster that was really in need of corners.
To me, it's much more, there's more justification to be critical of the front office and the coaching staff for letting Emmanuel Forbes walk for nothing.
Okay, they cut him rather than complaining that Ben Sinit hasn't done anything as a,
second round pick in his second season or that, you know,
Cain Madrano hasn't gotten on the field yet. So they blew that pick.
You know, I don't think, I don't think it's either or. I think it's okay to criticize
the draft picks that they have, that Adam Peters has drafted without declaring they're a bust.
Okay, we'll just agree. I just disagree. I think that,
I think we've got way too many examples of it's just too early to criticize.
You can criticize, well, you can say, yeah, I thought when they drafted him,
he was going to be an immediate contributor and he's not.
Or if they had said, we think we can get immediate contribution, which I don't think
they said that about any player other than Jaden Daniels.
and they didn't
that okay fine
but it's too early
Emmanuel Forbes
was in their building
all of last year
now that was his second year
and maybe they just missed it
and maybe they didn't see the right fit
or maybe they didn't realize it was
whatever it was
they let a guy go that was
drafted in 2023
that was on their roster
and the guys
clearly talented, you know, they let Brian Robin, they traded Brian Robinson Jr. He's better,
let's face it, he's better than anything they have right now. And I'm not the biggest Brian
Robinson Jr. supporter. I thought he was decent. But in hindsight, he's better than Bill. He,
the guy that was going to be Emmett Smith in August and September. I like Rodriguez. I think
Rodriguez might be as good as Brian Robinson Jr. We'll see.
They need to give Roderick as a chance to be as good as Brian Robinson.
But look, I think part of it that's fair.
And this is, you know, with Forbes is the case, I think people judge first and second round draft picks,
expect, have less patience and expect results quicker than they do a later round draft.
Well, that's fair.
That's totally fair.
I think that's fair.
I mean, when people are getting wrapped up into, you know, Luke McCaffrey and in Jalen Lane and Kane Madrano and Kroski Merritt, it's like these, these are players that typically don't even make teams or if they do make teams, they're not big contributors.
And look, I think it's fair, not in year one.
Like, there's no way you can get me to say that Josh Connerly Jr. is a bust or that he's not going to be a good.
player. I have no earthly idea. You don't and nobody listening does. Okay, because I'll tell you
what, they're probably not even totally sure what he's going to be. He hasn't physically matured
yet, Connerly Jr. You can see it. You know, at 6-4-3-10, it's still not like this physical
dominating body yet. That may come two years from now. I don't think that, you know, to be
honest with you, Tray Amos was the most impressive player of this class. I think it's still way too
early on him. He looked apart, but Mike Sanra still looked the part last year. Brandon Coleman
looked apart last year. We were raving about how they stole Mike Santer still and how somehow
Adam Peters was playing chess in his deal with Howie Roseman that got him that, you know,
the other two second round picks in addition to Newton. But you're right.
first-round picks are going to be judged more harshly.
I get that, and they're going to be expected to show something sooner than all of the other picks.
I'm just telling you that to shoot some of these guys, you know, 10 games into a season is insane
because we see it all the time.
These players sometimes take years to develop, especially at certain positions.
Now, you have to admit, if Adam Peters had drafted,
Forbes, he'd still be
here. Maybe.
You know, there is that part of it. He'd still be.
He'd still be here. Maybe.
General managers in all sports
are very protective
of their guys. Because it's
a judgment on them. Yeah, but
if the guy's really good
and you don't have
players in the cupboards bear,
you get it. You're logical. That makes sense.
Yeah. That makes sense. I mean, they kept Sam
Cosmy. They signed Sam Cosme to a
big long-term deal? That wasn't their pick.
No, but no one, no one was hiding their eyes when Sam Cosby was playing, you know,
right tackle for them. Well, I mean, Sam Cosmy in his first year, you know, started eight
or nine games, whatever it was. Year two, he got hurt, right? Year two, he got hurt.
I'd have to go back and look at it. But, uh,
I don't think Sam Cosmy became a full-time starter until his second year or third year.
I mean, I guess my point is, to me, it's much, it's, there's more fairness in criticizing Adam Peters for Emmanuel Forbes, for Zane Gonzalez.
And by the way, it's not just Peters because the coaches make these decisions on players once they get picked.
you know, Dan Quinn's got to say, we got nothing for Emmanuel Forbes. He can't do it for us.
I mean, I don't think Adam Peters made that call. Dan Quinn and his staff made that call and said, you know, there's no room for him here. He can't fit here.
Zane Gonzalez kicked them, you know, kick for them in the postseason and had some pretty clutch kicks.
Now he's kicking his ass off in Atlanta, and they don't have a kicker. I guess we'll see
the new guy, Jake Moody, for the first time this Sunday night.
Jahan Dotson hasn't blown up, and it's now been, you know, he's now in his fourth season.
So it looks like Dotson, you can legitimately say at this point, especially at that position in year four of his career, he was not a good pick.
And it was probably a good trade for Washington to unload him, no doubt.
All right, I feel like we've done this.

They offer listeners of podcasts like mine, an absolute layup bet.
They're giving you a free winner for all intents and purposes on Friday in the Black Friday game between the Bears and the Eagles.
You have a chance to bet over 0.5 touchdowns in the game.
That means one touchdown in the game by either team, you win your bet.
You double your money.
It's the simplest bet you'll ever make.
The only way it doesn't win is if there isn't a touchdown scored in the game.
So if you get all field goals and no touchdowns, you lose.
But there's never a layup like this one.
Never an easy winner like this one.

Tommy today out at Northwest Stadium in Landover, they were handing out turkeys and turkey
dinners, people associated with the team.
I think Doc was out there because I was texting back and forth.
with Doc this morning. He was out there. Daryl Green was out there. And Jaden Daniels was out there as well.
And he was asked about the possibility of returning this season. And he said, quote, if I'm healthy and ready
to go, I want to be out there. So a lot of discussion about Jaden Daniels. And it seems to be one of those
big topics. And I talked about it yesterday on the show. And I talked about it on radio today. My feeling,
and I know we've talked about this before,
but I just want to see where you stand right now,
especially after he was cleared for practice,
no contact this week,
and it sounds like he won't play against Denver,
but it looks like Minnesota,
a week from this coming Sunday,
would be the first opportunity for him to return to the lineup.
My feeling is simple.
I think if he's healthy and completely cleared,
and that's the only way I'm going to play him
is if he's completely cleared.
and he's 100%.
He's out there because he's my starting quarterback,
and it's one thing if there was a game or two left,
but with five games left, which would be next weekend,
30% of the season left, he's playing.
There's so many reasons, and we've gone through them,
but more than anything else,
starting quarterbacks play football in late November,
early December, mid-December.
They may not play at the very end of December
or the first weekend in January,
but he's my starting quarterback and he's playing.
A lot of people definitely feel differently.
How do you feel?
Look, my position is the same in that if he is healthy, 100% clear.
First of all, if I'm not mistaken,
there's no contact on quarterbacks in practice anyway.
No.
Okay, so that's just a little.
side, but
look, if he's
ready to come back to play against Minnesota
and 100%
he should play.
It would damage, I think it would damage
the relationship between the team
and the quarterback
if they told him he had to sit
like you said, five games
as opposed to one or two.
And I think it would hurt
his stature in the locker room
if he sat there healthy on the sideline
while his teammates, probably none
of which are 100% are out there finishing up a dismal season.
Yeah, I'm, I'm really, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
I think part of this is because of the history of RG3,
the history of just a lot of quarterbacks getting injured in this town.
You know, Alex Smith and Colt McCoy and just like one after another, right?
But certainly the RG3 comparison is there.
I guess I don't begrudge those that feel that way.
I think it's silly and as I said on radio today to my guy G from the shop,
who's one of my favorites, he got very sensitive because he thinks that,
because I referred to those that wanted to sit him as being too soft and worrying too much.
And he took offense to that because he thinks Jaden should be shelved for
the entire year until next year
you can feel the way you want
and I know it comes from a place of
can you imagine if
he had like a career
ending injury playing in games
that don't matter
this is part of a fan base that expects the worst
you know
it's it's it's I'm not
unsympathetic that are very human
reaction. So I understand. What if the team says we're not going to play him the rest of the season.
Well, I think you've already said the what if. I agree with you. First of all, it better be because he's not cleared to play, that he is not 100%. There's still some concern with the elbow, even though it's the non-throwing elbow.
and they don't want him out there, not being 100%.
But if they were to come out and say he's cleared, he's actually going to practice,
but we're not going to play him because these games just don't matter and we don't want to risk it.
I think that what you've already suggested becomes an issue.
I think it becomes an issue in the locker room.
I think it becomes an issue with him.
I think it would be an issue with the league, to be honest with you.
Well, I don't think they're TV partners.
I don't think they should care about that.
I know that, but if you're not playing a perfectly healthy quarterback
because you're afraid he's going to get hurt, that's a league-wide.
That would have ramifications beyond the Washington franchise.
Headquarters at the NFL would not take too kindly to that.
And neither would the people at Fox or CBS or NBC.
No, you're right.
You're right.
Because you know why?
It would be so unusual.
You know, Joe Burrow has turf toe, which, you know, if you hear, you know, players and coaches talk about turf toe.
They always say, it sounds like nothing, but it's terrible.
And he's been out now for a month and a half for nearly two months with it.
And they feel like he's ready, but they're not, you know, they thought he might be ready last week and they were going to push it.
Now they're waiting until Thanksgiving night.
The Cincinnati Bengals are 3 and 8.
Joe Burrow is the franchise.
He's playing because he's their starting quarterback.
And that's what starting quarterbacks do in November and early December and even mid-December.
They play football if they're able to play football.
Now, again, the last game of the year, or even the last two games of the year, that's a different conversation.
And the NFL understands that.
You know, we're out of it. We're 3 and 12 and we're going to play all the young guys. And at that point, Josh Johnson should be the starter if they decide to go that route in the season finale against Philadelphia. Not even Marcus Mariotta should be out there. But, you know, there's also just the idea that you're evaluating and it's easier to evaluate everybody when you're starting quarterback on offense is out there versus the back.
or the third stringer.
And then all of the other things matter.
You know, he's a second year quarterback.
He's only played in five and a half games.
And there's this chance, and it seems to be a growing, you know, strong possibility
that he's going to be able to reconvene with his starting offense for the first time since the opener.
Terry McLaurin, Noah Brown, Debo Samuel, the offensive line.
We'll see what it looks like.
I mean, all these guys could get injured this week.
But, yeah, I just, I don't know.
I can't think, honestly, of a quarterback that is the clear-cut starting quarterback
and the franchise quarterback that was shut down with five games to go.
That was totally healthy.
I think it would be unprecedented.
I might be missing somebody.
But you know, it's ironic.
Ironic, this town knows about shutting down healthy athletes more than anybody.
Yeah, well, he doesn't have Tommy John.
You know, he's not coming off Tommy John.
I know, I know, but it's kind of ironic.
I mean, because that's what they did.
I mean, the Nashville shut down the guy was healthy in fear of what could happen to him.
That's exactly what they did.
I don't think they were wrong.
but I know it's a different thing
because he came off surgery
but the premise
we're not going to play him anymore
because we don't want him to get hurt
but he's not hurt now
anyway
I think that
I mean Quinn was asked
if there was any consideration
to shutting him down and he said no
he said but you know he was also focused
more on just the process of getting Jaden back to
100%.
You know right
I would bet out there in this miserable season that they want to win some games.
Like they don't want to go 3 and 14.
They don't want to be 4 and 13.
They want to get the healthiest team out there that they've had all year.
And that's going to be pretty hard defensively, although Will Harris is going to be eligible to return.
So that's going to be a plus for them.
They certainly think it is.
And who knows, maybe they believe Dan Quinn calling the plays really is a difference maker.
But the idea of for the first time since the opener, getting the best that they have out onto the field offensively,
that they understand that that's going to give them a chance to win some games,
especially against Minnesota and the Giants.
And then they have, you know, Philly twice in Dallas.
And they could be, you know, those games could be really interesting from the perspective of you might be able to eliminate your arch rival cowboys on Christmas Day.
I'm not in it at this point for the draft pick.
I also would definitely call a game that is a bit more protective, not that I'm going to tell Jaden not to scramble.
I think it's actually unsafe to tell them not to scramble.
I want him to be smart when he scrambles,
but I'm going to take out some of those designed runs
that end up in a pile,
you know, quarterback counter, quarterback power,
the stuff that Cam Newton and Lamar and Josh Allen have run.
I don't think that's for our quarterback personally.
I thought that going back to the opener against Tampa in 2024.
I would, you know, if Robbie Chosen and Chris Moore
and Jalen Lane are out on the field,
you know, I think you got to really try to run
the football. I think you've got to try to run the football anyway. I think you got to go to real
quick stuff. You know, I don't want my guy dropping back like he did against Seattle and you got
three guys out there and two of them are running the wrong route and he's got to tuck it and run
immediately. So there is going to be some, you know, making sure that we're not putting him in a
position where the risk is higher of him taking unnecessary hits. But other than that, he's
playing and we're going to go try to win some games try to get to you know from three to
they're they're over under at my bookie the rest of the way is three and a half wins six
six and a half is the number on wins you think they can uh i'm sorry five and a half is the
number excuse me five and a half is the number you think they can get three more to finish at
least six and eleven are you asking me that
I am asking you that.
And my answer is no.
I think it's going to be hard, even with their offense back.
I think their defense is just so bad, although they are less than a touchdown underdog
against Denver at home Sunday night.
That's short.
And at Vikings, they might be facing Max Brasmer, the third string quarterback.
At Giants.
Yeah, but the Cowboys games all of a sudden look a lot different.
Yep, and the two Eagles games.
I mean, the Eagles might have nothing to play for it.
We'll see.
Yeah, I think, honestly, I wouldn't bet on it.
I wouldn't, to me, I don't really like it either way.
I wanted to read this to you.
This comes from John S.
He was following up on a conversation that I had on radio yesterday with calls
about Brandon Ayukes, more than likely now availability in the off-season.
He and the 49ers are about to, I think, at the end of the season, part ways.
And he writes, right now, right now, Peters has an opportunity to do something unusual.
In my opinion, uncanny and smart.
And that is trade Terry to the 49ers.
Get them out.
Get him to another playoff team and get Iyuk.
That way you clear one contract and you get it.
another. You get a younger, better player. There are no hard feelings, and then you really don't have to
look too hard for a number one next year. San Francisco gets rid of a headache, and they get a
possession receiver who will complement their speed. Then Washington either drafts a rookie or
signs a young guy, and maybe if they're lucky, they can resign Debo Samuel. I think it might be
smart, Kevin. It's far-fetched. I know you're on the Terry wagon. I just think if
there's a two-year-age difference, you do it.
First of all, I'm not on the Terry wagon.
I've been the one criticized for being not a big Terry guy.
I do like Terry.
I think Terry's a good receiver.
I think he's a really good receiver.
I just don't think he is what some of our fans have thought he was
and clearly what he and his agent thought.
So the whole Brandon Ayuk thing is really simple.
Devastating knee injury last October.
The 49ers voided some of the 2026 money
because he has not been doing what he is supposed to have been doing with respect to reporting to their facility for medical updates, et cetera.
Remember, he was kind of a pain in the ass during the contract negotiations last summer.
Remember, he posted the TikTok with Jaden, which included some of Washington's training camp practice film.
I thought he handled last summer poorly.
I thought he showed bad judgment.
I'm a big Brandon Iyuk fan from 2023.
I talked about him all during that year.
I thought he was really ascending into that top 10 area.
He was the number two pro football focus wide receiver in 2023 behind Tyree Kill.
That's why he got the big contract.
I said during that time, I actually think he would be the true number one even with Terry
if Washington traded for him.
But serious injury, serious judgment issues.
And look, John, nobody knows Brandon Ayuk better than Adam Peters and his quarterback, Jaden
Daniels.
So if they did something like that, I wouldn't feel awful about it because I think they were
in the know on both players.
But I have a feeling that this injury,
was truly an injury that could impact his future.
We'll see.
But I liked Brandon Ayuk.
But here's the thing, and we talked about it on radio yesterday,
callers did a good job of really almost convincing me and talking me out of,
you know, I'd be interested in it if the price was right.
Receivers just keep getting drafted.
You know, every year there's another three or four of them,
and you're like watching them and you're like, wow, that guy.
That is one of those positions.
You can tell pretty quickly.
whether or not you got a guy that can really do it.
You know, a Malik neighbors from last year, for sure.
And we see it now every year at that position.
And I think you just, you know, you've got, I mean, Puka Nakua was taken in the fifth round.
You know, you already see it this year with Igbuka, you know, the first rounder.
Luther Burden looks really good, second rounder.
So I'd rather do it that way.
I'd rather find the next guy in the draft.
I'm with you.
I'd rather find my own guy.
Now, what gives me a little bit of pause is what you said, that Adam Peters knows Iyuk, probably as well as anybody, having, you know, worked in the 49ers organization.
But this guy's got a bit of divaitis, and he's damaged goods now with the knee, and I have no interest in doing business with him at this point.
Like you said, I'm going to go get my own.
wide receiver.
Oh, but, but I've heard you say on your radio show,
they've got to concentrate on defense in next year's draft.
Well, it's got to be defense, defense, defense just right from the jump in the offseason,
period, free agency draft, the whole thing.
Okay.
But, I mean, I think it's also important for them for Jayden's health to have better weapons.
No doubt.
They need more speed.
I mean, they need a lot.
I know they need a lot.
But my priority would be the quarterback.
This will be the ultimate, you know, best player available.
Not that it wasn't this year, because I think it was with Conner Lee Jr., especially
after the tonsil trade, because they just need so much.
Obviously, if the best player available is a quarterback, you're not going to go there.
And if it's at this point, you know, a tackle, you're probably not going to go there.
But, you know, pretty much.
everything else you know this is going to be a draft where you got to go with the player that you
think is going to be the best player because you've got so many needs for sure and you've got all this
salary cap space so it's going to be you know they're going to be opportunities all right uh we got

Did you want to talk about the Wizards?
You've written something about the Wizards?
I'm not familiar with what you've written about the Wizards, but I'm interested because they are right now in the midst of a pretty long losing streak of 14 games in a row, even though they nearly ended it the other night against the Bulls.
Well, I haven't written something yet. I am writing something.
Okay.
That will appear at some point in the very near future, either Wednesday or Friday.
and basically it's just as
I know there's a painful
pass to this team
having to come back to being
competitive. I know that they
dug themselves a hole
and there's very few options for digging
out other than this
tear down and rebuild
now in its third season and counting.
But that doesn't mean
that the losing should just
happen without some
kind of notice.
I mean, without some kind of
apology on a regular basis.
I don't think
any executive from
this organization
should ever speak
about this team
publicly unless they
read a standard apology.
Apologizing for fans
for putting this franchise
in this situation.
Apologizing the fans to have to
suffer through a
one-win season so
far, you know,
uh, for, for,
for what, what's happened here. I think,
I just think that it just
shouldn't pass.
That a team should be this bad
and people should just say, well, that's what
they got to do. They got to be this bad
if they want to be good.
Well, you know, somebody should
pay for that on a regular basis.
Will Harris was on
106-7 to fan.
last week.
Will Dawkins.
Will Dawkins?
I'm sorry, Will Harris.
Getting my football player.
By the way, let me just tell everybody.
He's the Wizards General Manager.
I'm going to get to that.
I know, but I wanted to make sure that we told people who will,
because I think a lot of people would have just thought that Will Harris was the Wizards
general manager.
Well, Walt Dawkins went on 106-7, the fan.
and basically after the Wizards lost 129-106 to the Nets on November 16th
and basically disavowed recognizing the team.
He basically said Sunday night was not us.
You're going to have games like that throughout the year,
but that's just not the effort we look forward to.
That's not the product we want to put on the floor.
You know, a couple nights later, they lost by 30 points.
This is exactly who they are.
This is their identity now.
You know?
I mean, to say Sunday night was not us.
It's absurd.
It's an embarrassment to tell people that.
I mean, they have the worst defense in the league.
They've had among the worst defenses in the league for the past two or three years now.
I mean, they're setting all kinds of records.
where's that one that I've got here.
You know, we know this kid, Greg Finberg,
who edits Bullets Forever,
and hosts The Wizards Podcast.
You've talked to me about it before.
Wait, what's his name again?
Greg Finberg.
Oh, yeah.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
I'm familiar with them.
And I'm familiar with Bullets Forever.
Yes.
Yeah.
He's posted on his social media site
through the first 15 games of the season
in the history of the league
the Wizards are one of two teams
with the worst point differential
in 1970, 71 Cleveland Cavaliers
at minus 280
and the current Wizards
at minus 258.
What year of the Cavaliers?
7071.
Oh, 7071.
So not like right before LeBron got there?
No, no.
There have been, here's one more of Finberg Road recently.
There have been eight losing streets in the NBA of 13 or more games since the 23, 24 season.
Washington has four of them.
This is who they are.
Don't come on a radio and insult people by saying that's not who we are.
That's who you are.
Yeah, they're really, really bad.
They are so bad.
And, you know, defense, I understand there's analytics and metrics involved, and I know the game has passed me by, so to speak, but I think one of the basics of defense is effort.
I wish I could tell you, honestly, that they're not playing with great effort, or they are playing with great effort, and they just stink.
I'm at my all-time least interested in a team that I used to just devour,
much more so than most of my friends, even during this time of year.
I mean, Tommy, if they're playing and they're on and literally nothing else is on,
I might turn it and watch it a little bit.
I will come in here before the show after a game occasionally,
and watch the eight-minute, you know, condensed highlight package.
And I do look at the box score every night.
I'm interested to see who's doing what, at least from that standpoint.
I don't, like, what are they, like, I know what they're doing,
but what if it doesn't work?
Did they just literally essentially summary in this franchise
forever because the process of five, four, five, six, seven years of being the worst team or one of the
worst teams in the NBA, they acquired no new customers, no new fans, and they lost many
more. And then let's just say we get to 2028, 29, and Alex Saar didn't turn into a star.
Kishan George didn't turn into a star. They drafted somebody next year, number one overall,
and he turned out to be a bust, and they have to start all over.
I mean, I don't know enough about the NBA financial model.
Obviously, media dollars and sharing in media dollars is a massive part of it.
The NBA seems to be pretty healthy, but, you know, somebody, I forget who it was,
somebody was a former wizard was somewhere recently,
and he said it was just the worst playing home games at Capitol.
one. And I can't remember who that player is. Jordan. Jordan Poole. Jordan Poole said it. Right.
Yes. I'll tell you one thing. And you know I was saying this about this player. I did not want
them to trade Denny Avdia. And Deni Avdia is having a borderline all-star season at 24 years old.
And I kept saying to anybody, I'm like, what do they think of Avdia? Does anybody else think
that this guy might be a future All-Star? Because I see something.
thing in him that says that they may have gotten it right, you know, when they drafted him
at, what, number eight overall in 2019, 2020, whatever it was. And this guy is having a season
in Portland. I'm looking it up right now. He's averaging 25 a game, six and a half rebounds,
five and a half assists. I mean, he's a borderline all-star right now. And he's 24. This is what you're
hoping these 19, 20, and 21-year-olds that they have right now that in two, three years,
they are coming into their own and they're looking like all-stars. And there are a couple of
players when I have watched them. Like I do like, you know, Kishan George. I think he looks like
a player that could be an eventual all-star. I don't see a player on their roster that's going to
be a top five player in the league. That's got to come in a draft.
in 26 or 27, and it might.
Cam Boozer could be the guy, the guy from BYU could be the guy.
You know, let's hope that they don't get terrible, you know, luck in the draft lottery this year.
But I guess where I was getting to is what happens if this doesn't work?
Where is this franchise with, at that point, perhaps very few fans?
Yeah.
I mean, they're at the bottom of the league in attendance now, like, perennially.
Do you think they're sitting back, like Ted's sitting back going,
if this doesn't work, we are effed?
Like, we just chased away everybody and we acquired nobody at the same time going through this.
Yeah, but it's still, it's an NBA franchise that he could probably,
that if he wanted, if it came to that, he could turn around and sell it to somebody who thinks they can fix it.
God, they're just, you know, meantime.
But you see, Ted wants to, not to get into all this,
but I believe that Ted wants to take monumental sports public.
Right.
He's kind of leading to all towards doing that.
He's on CNBC every other week, you know,
in some kind of interview process.
So I don't think he's going to be selling the team anytime soon.
Meantime, the Oklahoma City Fund.
are off to one of the great starts in NBA history.
They are the defending NBA champions.
They have like 17 draft choices over the next five years.
I'm exaggerating, but it's some obscene number.
They're the youngest team, the youngest champion, as we know, in recent memory.
They've got a true superstar.
Like Tommy, I can't remember the last time that I felt like
this NBA season is so tilted towards one team and it would be an absolute stunner if anybody
other than Oklahoma City won the NBA title. And they are in the midst, I think, to be very
beginning of quite a dynasty. And see, this is where Will Dawkins, who was, you know, with
Oklahoma City and Ted as, you know, standing side by side would say, this is what we're trying to do.
Now, SGA wasn't drafted, but they were able to use some of their, you know, capital and some of their younger players to acquire SGA.
And this is what they're hoping to do.
But, man, this team, they're unbelievable.
Like, they don't play close games.
They kill everybody.
Kill everybody.
I'm looking it up right now because I didn't know who their one loss was to, but it was to the point.
Portland Trailblazers, and in that game, Denny Avdia, 26 points, 10 rebounds,
nine assists, two steals, and a block shot.
That's the only game they've lost this year.
All right, let's, well, I look forward to, I would assume that there will be some,
you know, a shot or two at the owner, Ted Leonis, aka Ace Rothstein.
I would assume that... Actually, probably, not much there.
Okay.
I'm hammering Dawkins for...
What about Winger? What about the team president?
Well, you know, he's got the right idea. Shut up. Don't say anything.
Well, here's something just to consider. Because right now, literally in this town, nobody cares about the wizards right now.
they should be trying to promote what they're doing, trying to let people know, hey, your city does still have an NBA franchise.
They should go the old team president's way.
Susan, why am I blanking in her last name?
O'Malley.
Susan, they should go the Susan O'Malley route and just start promoting all the opponents.
You know, that was, that was her strategy.
Larry Bird's coming to town on Friday.
Dr. Jay on Sunday, get your tickets.
All right.
Let's finish up the show by wishing somebody a happy birthday.
Somebody near and dear to all of your hearts.
We'll do that right after these words from a few of our sponsors.

Guys, personal experience with a product that I want to tell you about, it's Zbiotics and their product called pre-alcohol.
let's face it, after a night of drinks, most at our age anyway, don't bounce back the next day like we used to.
You either have that choice the night before of, do I have a drink or two or do I pass because I don't want to feel badly the next day?
Well, there's a surefire way to wake up feeling fresh after drinks with friends.
It's with pre-alcohol. Zbiotics pre-alcohol was invented by Ph.D. scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
I've noticed a difference the next day after using pre-alcohol.
You drink pre-alcohol before your favorite drink for me,
Tito's soda, lime, or a beer.
You wouldn't believe how great you feel the next day.
With the holidays approaching, you're going to be at parties.
You're going to have these opportunities where you're going to want to have one or two

Gibbs, 85 years old. Simply put, the greatest coach in the history of this town,
there's really not a close second. And I know we've had some great coaches, great high school
coaches, I mean, Morgan Wooten and Bob Malloy and, you know, the college basketball coaches
that we've had in this town. And I'm sure I'm missing some as well. But Joe is number one on that
list. And when you consider his success beyond football in NASCAR, he's just flat out the greatest
sports winner in the history of this town or having association with this town. I can't think
that anybody is close, right? I don't think so. I don't think so. I wrote a column back in 2019
after he got elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame as a team owner.
you know, for his NASCAR racing team, saying that I think this solidifies him as the greatest
winner among coaches in American professional sports.
He's in two halls of fame for his leadership ability.
I don't think there's anyone else who can say that.
You wrote the column.
I can't think of anybody that did it in Tuesday.
different sports.
I mean...
Not on that level.
Not to be at the top.
At the top, you know, with all the
NASCAR titles and then the
three Super Bowl titles. Look,
his Super Bowl resume
is not just the Super Bowl titles.
What breaks him out from the others
is that he won with three different
quarterbacks, none of which are in the
Hall of Fame.
Yeah. Okay.
And every other coach
that you can try it out there.
All great coaches are all married to a great quarterback.
Yeah, you know, he still to this day has the best playoff postseason win percentage
for all coaches who coached in at least 15 postseason games.
Lombardi, you know, look, it was different because there were only two players.
playoff games. There was a playoff game, the championship game, and then the Super Bowl. But he didn't even have the Super Bowl for some of his championships. Lombardi didn't. But Gibbs 17 and 7 all time in the postseason, that 708 win percentage is the highest in NFL history for coaches that coached in at least 15 playoff games. Belichick is just barely behind him.
at a 705 win percentage.
Now, Belichick coached in more playoff games than anybody.
Actually, I'm sorry, Andy Reid passed him.
Andy Reid now 45 playoff games, Belichick 44.
Again, a lot of that is largely because of the playoff expansion over the years,
and they had many more playoff games on their way to the Super Bowl.
But Gibbs's playoff prowess and having his teams play their best
football at the end of seasons year and year out and then going on the road at times to win
playoff games with different quarterbacks with different running backs with really
one of the underrated or under discussed things about the hogs is that the hogs changed they
weren't the same group you know from 82 to 91 um the best ever the best ever we've ever
had in this town in any sport and it's there's no close second i would agree anything else about
joe on his birthday no no i mean you know i can what that's one of the gifts i've been given
in this business is knowing coach gibbs and uh you know when i wrote that column uh he called
me somebody had alerted him to it and he called me and i wasn't i didn't answer the phone i
wasn't around, but he left a voicemail. And I still have that voicemail to this day.
You do? That's funny. Absolutely.
Yeah, I'm trying to think. Thank me for writing it. I'm trying to think what the issue was that
he called me back on. Remember, he was on with me last year, and he said something about me saying
something about him. I'm trying to remember what it was. And, you know, his long time, you know,
PR person, Chris Eline, and Chris called me afterwards and I said, no, he's got me confused with
somebody else. And I can't remember what it was. But on the air, he said, you know, well, you got
after me pretty good for something and it wasn't true. And I think he, I think maybe he had gotten
me and Zabe or maybe me and Andy confused. I can't, but I can't remember what it is right now.
I'll figure it out and I'll let you know when we talk next.
All right, that's it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, boss.
You and your family, enjoy.
I'll be back tomorrow with a football show on Wednesday,
including I'm sure several smell test picks for Thursday and Friday.
