You don't want it, you don't need it, but you're going to get it anyway.
The Kevin Sheehan Show, here's Kevin.
They keep out pounding away.
Crosky Merritt, stacked up again by John Davis, second effort to the goal line, and he is.
It depends when they say it's four days in.
He was out, he was in, he's in the fist relief.
Our initial surge was stopped by Davis, but Krosky Merritt kept on battling, and Washington's back in front.
What a great second effort run by Bill.
That touchdown gave Washington a 10 to 7 lead late in the first half.
They took that lead to the break, but then both teams came out and played the second half.
In on an early Sunday morning post-gaming, Washington's 29 to 18 loss to the Eagles in Landover.
the show is always presented by Window Nation. 86690 Nation,

With the win, Philadelphia clinched the NFC East title,
becoming the first NFC East team since 2004 to repeat as division champs.
That 20-year streak of a new champion every year is finally over.
Philly still has seating in the NFC playoffs to play for.
had nothing to play for, but they played like they did.
They came to play, as the saying goes, competed from the jump,
played hard, played excited.
They wanted it.
You could feel it on the opening kickoff when they recovered Will Shipley's fumble.
You could feel it with each Bobby Wagner tackle,
each Chris Rodriguez and Bill Kroski Merritt run.
You could feel it when Jake Elliott missed three first half field goals.
You could feel it when Terry McCorn pulled in a content.
tested 40-yard catch. This was a legit, winnable game until Marcus Mariotta left the game with
an injured hand, and Josh Johnson had to play. He, the third string quarterback, and he,
not a very good quarterback in this particular game. Washington is 4 and 11 now with the next
one coming quickly. Thursday, Christmas Day, against Dallas. The Cowboys officially out. They
eliminated from playoff contention with Philadelphia's win.
After the game against Dallas, Washington will finish the season against the Eagles
in Philly on January 3rd or 4th, and then it will be over.
It being this season, this miserable, depressing, can't end soon enough season that had
so much promise before it started.
Remember how excited we all were in August?
September. Even early October after Jaden came back after injury number one and led an
impressive blowout win over the Chargers. They were three and two, and in that moment, there
really wasn't much to be concerned about. The defense hadn't played very well, and there
were already injuries starting to mount, but the Bears were coming to town for a Monday night
game, and that Chicago team wasn't supposed to be any good. That was back then, we thought. But
You know, a few raindrops that night, a fumbled attempt at a handoff.
That game slipped away, and so did the rest of the season that followed.
And here we are, you know, nearing the end of a season that feels all too familiar, really, to all of us.
Games at the end with zero at stake.
And in the case of a game like yesterday's, really no chance to exact, you know,
meaningful revenge for a loss that stung a bit more than usual.
The team got its ass kicked in the second half, but then the Eagles decided to rub
Washington's nose in it while they were at it. I'll weigh in on what happened at the end in the
final segment, Nick Siriani's decision to rub it in with a two-point conversion up 17 points
with four minutes and 26 seconds left. I'll get to that at the end of the show.
Meantime, more injuries in a season of injuries. Marcus Mariotta injured his hand. Wouldn't
be shocked if that's it for him on the season. Get ready. Christmas football, Netflix
Watchers, Josh Johnson, likely going to get at least a half week of prep heading into that game
against Dallas. Sam Cosmy, Johnny Newton, Brandon Coleman added to the list of wounded
in action. The first two with concussions and Coleman with a shin injury. It's the story of
2025, you know, wounded, wobbly, and in the case of yesterday, kicked while they were down.
Good news is they can't get relegated, this isn't soccer, they'll play an NFL schedule next year
and have the chance to make this year look like a one-off aberration. But for that to happen,
they need to get better players, you know, across the board. So let the off-season begin,
even though there are two regular season games left.
I do have a game take from a game, again,
that they legitimately had an opportunity to win.
They were more than in it.
I'll get to that game take after these words from a few of our sponsors.
Hey, guys, it's great to have Harry's as a sponsor on today's show.
I've been a customer of Harry's Razors for five or six years now,
going back to the first time they advertised on the podcast and I became aware of their product and I fell in love with their product.
It's not only a great shave, but I realized very early on that the blade lasted much longer than my previous razor blade did.
And it was very affordable. Harry zones their own world-class blade factory in Germany.
No outsourcing, no middleman.
they control the entire process from steel to shelf that keeps costs low.
Why pay $30 for refills when Harries gives you better blades for a fraction of that?
Harries has launched their most advanced razor ever, and it's still cheaper than Gillette Fusion 5.
If you don't love your shave, Harries will make it right.
No questions asked.
They offer a risk-free trial, meaning there's zero downside to giving it a shot.
Harry's Plus is Harry's heaviest razor handle ever made from metal, never plastic, designed to fit
comfortably in your hand. A heavier handle means more control and a luxury feel.
Harry's doesn't just make razors. They've got a full line of grooming essentials from
shave gel to deodorant to body wash, all thoughtfully made and priced to stock up.
For a limited time, my listeners can get the Harry's Plus trial set,
for only $10 at harries.com slash Sheehan.
This set includes the all-new Harry's Plus Razor,

180th meeting between Washington and Philadelphia.
Off we go from Landover.
Will Shipley from the 6th.
And the Eagles have the Bopopop out
that's on the sideline in Washington
saying that they've got it and they do.
It was a pretty good start to the game.
Mike San were still on the tackle
and with the strip, Cain Madrano with the recovery.
Too bad they couldn't turn it into seven.
They did get three and the lead in a game that was closely contested until it wasn't.
This segment brought to you by Window Nation.
You've got a few days left, like 10 of them, for their end of year sale,
which is 50% off all windows and Windows styles and a chance to finance the purchase with 0% interest for five years.

They'll schedule a free one hour or less in-home estimate.
If you move forward with them, part of the offer is to get your windows installed in a day or less.
All right, let's get to the Game Take.
Pay attention.
Here's Kevin's Game Take.
All right, be good from the game, and there was some,
sure. The bad from the game and a few other observations and I will get to those in the final
segment of the show and I'll give you my thoughts on Philly's decision to go for two and
rub it in to Washington there at the end of the game. So I'll start with this. Look, they were
ready to fight, you know, for a limited football team, especially on defense. The coaches, players,
they were fired up for this one. You could tell. Maybe it was that division tournament theme
that Quinn put into play before the Giant game last week with four division games to end the year.
He has gone with this sort of NCAA tournament survive in advance and they won their first round game against the Giants
and had their second round game against the Eagles.
Well, they've been eliminated, but they're going to go ahead and play, I guess, in the losers' bracket
against the Cowboys and the Eagles to finish up, or at least the Cowboy game will be the Losers Bracket.
But look, they had to wait nearly a year since the NFC title game to play Philly again
and try to exact some level of payback for that game.
The schedule makers put these two at the end of the schedule.
When the schedule came out, I remember talking to Mike North, the schedule maker about it.
There's a lot of risk when you take two high-profile games, which these games were before the season started,
and you save them for the very end of the schedule.
schedule because, you know, both teams, one team can end up having a really bad season or you
could get to the end of the season and one team might have everything clinched. But yeah,
they waited and Washington was considered to remember for the opening game of the season,
but they picked the Cowboys instead. So, you know, 11 months or so after the NFC title game,
Washington was fired up. Interestingly, and I went and looked this up,
You know, 19 players that played in last evening's game on offense and defense, 19 who played
meaningful snaps in the game last night, did not play in the NFC title game.
So this idea of like exacting revenge, payback, et cetera, you know, when you've got 19 players
on offense and defense who didn't play in the game last January is a bit of a
reach, I'm sure. But overall, like last week and really since the Miami game in Madrid, excluding
the Minnesota game, this team has fought really hard despite being up against it for so many
reasons. Dan Quinn now 21 and 5 as a head coach over his last four regular season games in Atlanta
and in Washington. Yeah, number one on the list. They were ready for this one, and this was a legitimate
game into the latter portion of the third quarter until Marcus Mariotta got hurt. Washington
had a legit chance to win the game. I mean, part of it is we've just seen Philly play games
like this. And that was part of why I liked Washington going into it to keep it close, is that
you know, Philly really hasn't, you know, taken advantage and blown people out with great
offense. And Jalen Carter was missing from this game.
Number two on the list, Bobby Wagner.
I mean, I wouldn't at this point be surprised if he's back next year, guys.
Nobody took Quinn's message to heart more than Bobby Wagner did yesterday to play violently, to fly around.
He's something else.
He really is something else at his age, flat out, one of the best tacklers of his generation.
Yesterday, 10 tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss.
he's currently third in the league in tackles.
I got to tell you, I am fine with him coming back and being a part of next year's team if he continues to play.
He's still very good, even though he does struggle to cover at his age.
But the positives far outweigh the negatives with Bobby Wagner.
He is really a spectacular, high intensity, high motor.
unbelievable tackling machine, even at his age.
And I think a first ballot, Hall of Famer, when all is said and done.
That leads me into something else that's on my good list.
His heir apparent, I guess, Jordan McGee.
Jordan McGee just shows up when he plays.
His athleticism shows up.
He can really run.
He had a sideline-to-sideline tackle, and I think it was Barclay.
I think it was Barclay, four tackles and a TFL on an active day from him.
30 defensive snaps, 43% of the overall defensive snaps in the game.
Jacob Martin is on my good list.
In this pathetic season defensively, he's been a find.
And he's not a young player.
He's a bit of a journeyman.
Washington is his seventh team.
He's 30 years old.
but he's just a player, period, with a high, high motor.
I mean, Steve Souter picked up on Jacob Martin all the way back in week two, week three.
You know, another sack for him yesterday to get his season total to a career best five and a half sacks.
He's second on the team behind Von Miller in sacks.
He had the strip on Hertz.
Hertz was able to, you know, recovered himself.
He's an unrestricted free agent.
as Souter said the other day, he's made himself some money if people are paying attention to the tape.
Jacob Martin's on this list. Also on the list of good from the game, committed to the run, the team was,
especially in the first half. You know, this had to be a part of the offensive strategy because without Jalen Carter,
the Philly defense has been a bit vulnerable to the run. You know, Cliff for a second straight week was
committed to running the football. Fifteen of their 26 real snap.
non-penalty snaps in the first half were runs.
The two running backs in the first half, 14 for 50.
Not a great average necessarily,
but the commitment without the great average
was important to everything else they were trying to do.
Against that pass rush, you can't drop back over and over again.
You've got to be able to run it.
That's a way to protect quarterbacks is running the football
and being a threat to run the football,
because play action becomes the way you can throw it.
And that's what Cliff did in the first half.
But he didn't do it in a sequence at the end of the very first drive
and then to open up the second half, more on that coming up.
But loved the commitment to the run, especially in the first half.
Add to the list of good from the game yesterday is that Philly helped out.
You know, you needed Philly to help out.
You know, they're the better team.
and Washington's a very limited team for Washington to have a chance to win that game.
Philly needed to self-destruct to a certain degree, and they did.
They fumbled the opening kickoff.
Jake Elliott missed three field goals all wide left.
One of those missed field goals actually didn't count because Tyler Owens was apparently off sides.
I didn't notice him either lining up in the neutral zone or even jumping off sides.
I thought that was one of, you know, a few questionable calls.
But after missing that kick, he missed the next one, five yards closer.
So Jake Elliott really helped Washington out.
And Philly did overall, you know, kept Washington in that spot of having a lead at halftime at 10 to 7.
What else is on the list of good?
Terry's on this list.
Three catches for Terry.
But that contested catch, so Terry.
I always find it interesting with Terry.
He is a chest catcher.
There is no doubt about it.
And it's interesting because I think the best contested catch guys typically are hands catchers.
Terry's more of a chest catcher, and he's very good at it.
That was a contested catch.
He had three in the game for 53 yards on four targets.
I thought Debo on that middle screen did a really good job.
after the catch. I thought Tray Burks, look, this is going to be a guy. They take a long,
hard look at in the offseason. He's got some size. He's got hands. He's got a radius.
He had two catches for 30 yards and obviously had opportunities for others. I thought that
that one holding penalty called against Coleman on a big throw to Brooks. I did not see that as a
holding penalty. But I think he's going to be a guy they take a good look at.
I thought both running backs again really performed.
I think they're in good shape right now with Rodriguez and Bill.
I thought Bill's touchdown run was outstanding.
I actually was surprised that forward progress wasn't called on that.
Rodriguez's last run, which was right before Washington scored at the end,
I think it was the last run, the 20-yard run I'm talking about.
What an effort.
I mean, both of these guys run really, really hard.
Against that defense, you know, I thought, you know,
they're combined 23 carries for 88 yards.
It's not a great average necessarily, but, man, they worked for it,
and I thought they both did a nice job.
Anybody else on the good list?
I think that is it.
All right, let's get to the list of things that weren't so good.
in the game. I'm going to start with the defense, which was Ben don't break until it finally
broke. And I want to caveat this by saying the urgency, the motor, the flying around, the effort
was all there. I've already pointed out Wagner's performance, Jacob Martins, etc. You know,
Sanra still had a moment here or there. You know, Jordan McGee did. A couple of other guys did as
well. Kinlaw did. But the bottom line is they're just so limited and they're just so bad
defensively. But Suter pointed it out two weeks ago. They've become a field goal defense.
You're hoping to just hold the other team to a field goal because you're not going to get many
stops and many punts forced. In Philly, by the way, is an offense that does punt more regularly
than some of the really good teams punt. You know, there was that first Philly
touchdown drive where they went, I think it was a 17 play drive ultimately, but there was so
much pitch and catch, just so many easy plays. A.J. Brown in the first half had eight
catches for 86 yards in the first half, and Hertz missed them on a big one. That may have been
in the second half. Devonte Smith was four catches for 26 yards in the first half. I mean,
the two of them, 12 catches, 112 yards.
in the first half alone.
Ultimately, they combined for 15 catches for 137 yards.
Goddard had three for 32, including that third and long touchdown pass,
which was really an excellent play by Jalen Hertz.
He stepped up in the pocket and threw an absolute dime.
They did an okay job in the first half against the run,
and then, you know, the floodgates opened up with Barclay, you know,
busting big runs and ending up with 132 yards.
on 21 carries. Tank Bigsby, by the way, is a good back for them, a really good backup option
for him, for them. I liked him coming out of Auburn, what, two, three years ago, something like
that. And the tackling just wore down in the second half. It was not pretty at all. So Philly ends up
with, you know, 207 rushing yards in the game. And Hertz through, you know, completed over 70% of his
passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns in the game.
Let's see what his QBR was.
76.6, a solid game for Hertz, who also scrambled a couple of times with seemingly
nobody accounting for him in the game.
So, look, the defense is a bend-don't-break defense, and it bent, and it bent, and
then it finally broke yesterday.
Next up on the list, you know, we,
criticized Cliff in that Minnesota game for that opening drive sequence.
So they get the fumble on the kickoff return, and they're running the ball basically
into a first and goal at the five-yard line.
I mean, Rodriguez goes for three, Rodriguez goes for five, Rodriguez goes for six,
Rodriguez goes for three, and it's second and goal to two.
Same situation as the Minnesota game.
And then it's pass and pass.
They didn't go for it on fourth and goal from the two.
and they kicked the field goal. Now, Berks was open, and maybe he got held. Maybe there was
interference there, and they missed it. Mariotta missed
Burks, though. That's not a good throw. And they end up kicking a field goal.
I mean, can we see more Rodriguez at second and goal at the two? So I did not like that
play calling sequence. You would have thought after the Minnesota game a couple of weeks ago,
Rodriguez is rolling here. Let's give him a chance. And they didn't.
second and goal and third and goal from the two.
You know, after the first half in which they were clearly committed to the run,
they come out with a, you know, first half lead of 10 to 7,
and they get the ball to start the second half.
And they do hit the big one to Berks over the middle on play action first and 10 for
25 yards, 24 yards, something like that.
And then it's pass, pass, pass, and punt.
you know, and by the way,
Mario de getting injured on that third and 10 throw.
Like, where's Rodriguez to start the second half?
Where's the run?
What happened to that?
I don't know.
Maybe they checked to the throws because of a loaded box.
You know, you clearly saw the box get super loaded up
when Josh Johnson came into the game,
but that was the first drive of the second half.
You've got a 10 to 7 lead.
You got a chance, you know.
It was a return that was a decent return for Chris Moore on that second half kickoff return to the 32-yard line.
And, you know, you get a big play.
You're in Philadelphia territory.
Come on, man.
Let's run the football.
We did a great job of it in the first half.
Pass, pass, pass, and you've got the punt.
And on that last one, Mariotta was hurt, and then he was out of the football game.
Yeah, so I didn't like that sequence from Cliff.
What else is on my list here?
Offensively on third downs, they struggled in this one, two for ten.
That's been a problem here recently.
You've got to stay on the field against teams like Philly.
on the list of bad
in the moment
I'm not going to lie to you
I kind of felt where
Quinn was on the two punt decisions
in the fourth quarter down 21 to 10
he had a fourth
and four at their own
40 down 21 to 10
with 917 left
I didn't really have a major issue
with that decision
because of
number one
Josh Johnson being in the game
and not looking comfortable at all.
You know, he had already thrown that horrible third and 14 pick to Dijin,
and I thought their chances of picking it up,
even though it was fourth and four weren't very good,
and if they missed, it's totally game over.
I didn't necessarily have a massive issue with that one,
but with six and a half to go down 2110,
because they did get the stop,
and they ended up getting after that punt the ball in decent field position,
but they were forced to punt again on fourth and six from their own 44.
I think with six and a half to go at that point,
even though it is Josh Johnson,
you probably have to leave your offense out there.
You're near midfield.
It's fourth and six.
You probably have to go for that one rather than punt that one away.
Also on the list was just Josh Johnson.
I don't blame him.
He doesn't get any reps.
I mean, when Mario does come into the game for,
for Jaden a few times. It hasn't gone well. Go, you know, go back to the Dallas game when he came
in. It was a disaster. When he came in for him in the Minnesota game, it was a bit of a disaster.
What was the other game that he left? At this point, I'm losing track of all the games he left in.
Yeah. The Seattle game was basically over at the end. Yeah, it's hard to come in when you haven't had any
reps. But I'll tell you one thing, man, Josh Johnson is not the same style of quarterback that
Jaden Daniels and Marcus Mariodar. I mean, there is just nothing at 39 years old he can do to avoid
rush or create more time. And he's very hesitant to throw the ball. I mean, it was a poor,
poor performance in relief, in a game in which they still had a chance. And you could see,
you know, when he came into the game, they didn't have any respect for his running ability. And so
that was going to make it harder for them to run the football to stay in the game with him in it
because you could crowd the box. He was not a threat to hurt you with his legs.
I think that's it on the bad list. Let's get to a few other observations, and I'll weigh in on the
Siriani decision to run up the score at the end. We'll do that right after these words from a few of our sponsors.
Guys, personal experience with a product that I want to tell you about.
It's zbiotics and their product called pre-alcohol.
Let's face it, after a nighted drinks, most at our age anyway, don't bounce back the next day like we used to.
You either have that choice the night before of, do I have a drink or two, or do I pass?
Because I don't want to feel badly the next day.
Well, there's a surefire way to wake up feeling fresh after drinks with friends.
It's with pre-alcohol. Zbiotics, pre-alcohol was invented by Ph.D. scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
I've noticed a difference the next day after using pre-alcohol. You drink pre-alcohol before your favorite drink for me, Tito's soda, lime, or a beer.
You wouldn't believe how great you feel the next day. With the holidays approaching, you're going to be at parties. You're going to have these opportunities where you're going to want to have one or two.
without waking up the next day feeling terrible.

obviously it's their choice to go for two there you know your job to stop them but is there an
unspoken respect between coaches teams where you know in a game in that situation you don't do that
and kind of did you feel like it was a little bit of a sign of disrespect yeah i can only answer
for my you know my side what i would do um but hey man like that's how they want to get down
and like all good we playing again two weeks that was dan quinn following the game he was
a couple of times about Nick Siriani's decision to go for two, up 17, with four minutes and 26 seconds
left in the game. This segment of the show is brought to you by MyBooky if you want to bet on

by the way, two and one, I had Miami in their outright win over Texas A&M. I'll tell you what,
for a 10 to 3 game, that was pretty exciting. I mean, that was a grown man game in the trenches.
And then I had James Madison plus 21. Unbelievable cover. I mean, they were down 48, 13. They came back
plus 21. They drove 99 yards at the end to get the backdoor cover. They were actually very
impressive offensively. Washington was the loser plus the seven against the Eagles. Another seven
picks today. If you missed them on Friday show, Browns, Jets, Giants, Jags, Steelers, Raiders, and then Ravens
tonight, and then the Colts tomorrow night. So another eight total picks for the smell test.

All right. A couple of other observations from the game. And we'll start with Nick Siriani's
decision to go for two, up 27 to 10 with four minutes and 26 seconds left. So let me just
begin with this, sort of the game situation to see if there's kind of any justification
for going for two. From a competitive standpoint, you know, score, time, game, context.
standpoint. So the easy answer is there isn't. The chart doesn't say go for two. In fact, the chart
says the opposite kick up 17. Why? Because up 18 is better than up 17 and the benefit of being
up 19 doesn't outweigh the downside of being up only 17. If you're up 17, a team doesn't have to go
for two to tie if they're able to score three more times, two touchdowns and a field goal. Up 18, they have to
at least convert one two-point conversion.
But let's, you know, take the game context from last night into consideration.
Washington at that point is getting their ass handed to them.
They can't stop Philly.
They can't move the football.
They've got their third string quarterback in the game.
It would have been an act of God for Washington to come back with Josh Johnson at the helm.
The game was over.
Siriani denied afterwards trying to run up the score.
And look, you know, I don't disson.
count the possibility that he wasn't doing it intentionally to rub Washington's nose in it.
He is a bit of a meathead overall, but it really doesn't matter because of the circumstances,
there's not really another way to view it other than to view it as an attempt to rub Washington's
nose in their own miserable pigsty of a situation.
You know, they're getting their ass kicked in a game in which they're down to their third-string quarterback and a lot of other non-starters.
The game's over.
The season's been over for a while, and the appearance has to be whether Siriani, you know, intended to rub their noses in it or not.
The appearance, the takeaway is the Eagles are going low road and smearing Washington's nose in their own stink rather than take the higher road, which for them tends to be the road less.
traveled anyway.
This, by the way, was not about Jake Elliott, okay?
He had already kicked both of their PATs after the two touchdowns in the second
half.
Those came long after the first half missed field goals.
So for those that say, well, Siriani didn't trust Elliot.
And I think Greg Olson said that.
Well, he's wrong.
He had just allowed Elliott to kick two PATs on the two previous touchdowns in the second
half. So, um, first of all, look, it's Washington's job to stop them, period. Okay, every competitor
at any level in sports knows you can't call, you know, foul, you can't call whatever. It's
going to come off as sour grapes. It's your job to stop them. You know, in the game leading up
to that touchdown and then on the two-point conversion, stop them. Washington put themselves
in that position to get punked, you know, by a classless head coach and a franchise that, you know, takes that road more often than not.
Why? Because they're not anywhere near as good as Philadelphia. So get better at playing football and stop them next time.
Secondly, you know, I'm not sure really what there was for Philadelphia to do this.
Like, why would you want to risk your players on a play like that?
It seems silly.
You know, you have to know, and again, he's pretty limited, Siriani is in a lot of ways.
So maybe it never occurred to him.
But when you openly do something that can be perceived as disrespectful and out of order in a profession like that one, expect that shit will happen.
You know, as it did.
why would he want his best players out there on the field for a play that doesn't need to happen?
And secondly, for the possible, if not likely reaction from the opponent who feels like you're rubbing it in.
So it just didn't seem like, why would you want to do that if you're Siriani?
I think there's too much risk in doing it.
Maybe he thought Washington would be so submissive because they're down to like, you know,
their second practice squad full of players that he could just, you know, trample over him and
continue, you know, continue to bully him as the team did to Washington in the fourth quarter.
Lastly, they weren't submissive. And I love that about our team. You know, that's a flight
or fight moment. You know, in that profession, it is. You got bullied over the final quarter of that
game. That's fine. But to play it submissively,
in that particular situation, that's like them, you know, pushing you around for the last 18 minutes of that game.
And then while you're lying on the ground spitting on you, you know, at that point, forget gracious loser mode if you're Washington at that point.
There is no downside to responding physically and swinging in that situation.
There's a much bigger downside to not responding, in my opinion.
Now, as far as Quinn's saying, you know, we got another game left.
I mean, okay, but our team's not likely to have a legitimate NFL team out there in two weeks.
You know, if their starters are out there and if Big Dom comes out into the middle of the field again looking for some action,
I hope someone on our team does something within the rules to make sure they know that even in,
the midst of losing, there's some interest in swinging back and maybe connecting and putting
somebody out for what they have after that game, which is more games, which our team doesn't
have. And they're not going to have unless they get better at playing football. And they figure
out a way that, you know, if they have what they had this year, they've got some players in
backup roles that can play football.
But, yeah, whatever.
You know, look, the bottom line is you have to stop them.
You have to stop them for the first, you know, the first 56 minutes of that game.
So they're going for two to try to stay in the game next time.
All right, what else from other observations?
How about Marcus Marietta before the injury?
Not his best game, but clearly, you know, they had little time.
no chance without him in the game. But he missed high on that third and goal to Berks in the end
zone on that opening drive after the fumbled opening kickoff. You know, if you think Berks got held
or interfered with, debatable to me, that was the Minnesota opening drive throw when Jaden put
it on Debo in the back of the end zone and Debo dropped it. Mario to this time was just too high
with the throw. Burks was open, had a chance for a touchdown there on that third and goal.
Mario to miss Debo in a second and 10 in the third quarter,
his accuracy has always been part of what's held him back a little bit.
But what's always put him on the field over and over again
is his ability to extend plays, you know,
even when he's forced to throw it away or when he takes a sack
that's a less yardage sack than a big sack,
his mobility, his play extension is his number one on-field attribute.
And then, you know, occasionally being able to take advantage of a situation, which they had with Terry in one-on-one coverage against Adory Jackson.
That's a really good, smart decision.
You're not going to get that matchup enough, and he took advantage of that matchup.
I thought the throw was fine.
Some of you reached out and said you thought it was underthrown and it should have scored, and that's why it was a contested catch, maybe.
But against Philly's defense, a 40-yard downfield.
explosive is a good play regardless.
So I thought that was an excellent play.
I don't know.
Mario daura was what?
A C, C plus, B minus, something like that.
He was 7 of 14 for 95 yards.
But the injury didn't allow for something much better because they were in that game with
him in the game.
They had a chance to win the game if he stays in the game and perhaps ends up, you know,
looking like a much better overall game if he stays.
in the game.
Oh, real quickly, back to Siriani.
Many of you pointed out that they called a timeout on defense with two minutes and three seconds
left in the game, up 29 to 10.
Yeah, I don't know why they did that.
I went back and looked at it to see if they were scrambling, like if they had one less
player out there, you know, that's a legitimate reason to call time out on defense with
the clock rolling.
I don't think he was calling it with the attempt of trying to get the
ball back again.
There was no real obvious explanation for why he called it there.
By the way, I forgot to add Jalen Lane to the injured list.
He left the game with an ankle injury early.
Oh, remember the fourth and seven where Will Harris basically tackled A.J. Brown
on a deep ball that got intercepted by Kwan Martin.
I don't even know if it would have held.
I don't know if he got both feet in.
But Kwan Martin was really advocating for, yes, he got both feet in.
on fourth and seven, you don't want to intercept that ball.
Now, it didn't matter because Harris tackled A.J. Brown on the play.
But Kwan Martin needs to knock that thing down, not intercepted.
That would have cost him about 30, 35 yards in field position.
What else do I have here?
Oh, lastly, Tressway just played his 194th game.
He passes Don Warren on the list of.
all-time games played for the franchise. He's now sixth all-time. He's behind
Darrell Green, who is the all-time leader in games played, 295. By the way, 80 games ahead of
Monty Coleman and 90 games ahead of Art Monk, who are second and third. Dave Butts is
fourth, Len-Hoss, fifth at 196. So Tressway is going to tie Len-Hoss with two more games.
And if he's back on the team next year, and I don't know why they wouldn't want him back on the
team. He is a free agent. He is still a very good punter in this league. He'll have a chance if he
plays all 17 next year to become third all time on the games played list. It's been a good
player during, you know, a miserable stretch with the exception of last year, which now seems
like 10 years ago. All right, that is it back tomorrow.
Enjoy your football Sunday.
