Updates upon further review and also will include whatever happened in the postgame and tomorrow when Quinn speaks as well. All right. That was a game that had a lot of good in it and some reason for optimism, but plenty to be constructively critical about as well. But here's the thing that you've got to consider when it comes to these NFL season openers. they're not necessarily indicators of things to come. I think I've talked about that maybe once or a hundred times over the years. No reason to lose your mind one way or the other after week one. With that understood, the game counts. You know, you have to get some of these early in seasons until you actually figure out what you are.

You don't have to be good in September. You don't have to be good in October. but you've got to win enough games so that if you become a good team in November and December, those games can be meaningful. So with that in mind, let's just look at this game, this game only, and not get carried away thinking that it will look the same next week or the week after, because it probably won't. And I'll start here in the open with the two-point conversion.

And then I'll get to starting in the next segment, but I liked, didn't like, and a lot more. That two-point play looked to me, I believe, to be an option where Jaden was likely reading that edge defender. It was Hunt for Philadelphia, number 58. If he stays at home, I think Jaden is supposed to shovel it to Bates. If he doesn't stay at home, if he crashes down hard, then Jaden doesn't shovel it, and he looks out into the flat to white,

or Jaden has the option to run. That's my guess. I don't know for sure. Maybe we'll find out. But Hunt did stay at home. So Jaden shoveled it to Bates. I think he still could have gotten it out to the flat to White, who was open even though Hunt played Jaden on that play.

But I have a feeling the coaches would say that Jaden made the right read on that. my complaint would be I don't want Bates to have the ball. And I don't want Bates to be an option unless he's catching it wide open in the end zone on a bootleg or some kind of play action where he kind of gets lost in the wash and nobody's thinking about him. Giving him the ball at the three with guys like Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis and a Jomo who I think made the play, I just would rather Jaden have a chance. to make a play with his legs or with his arm. I'd rather the option be to something else. Now, I do wonder whether or not Chigga Concoe would have been in that particular spot had he been in the game. He had left the game in the second half.

You know, they probably worked on that two-point play a lot, and maybe it's a Concoe who's supposed to get it. I don't think he would have done much more with it. It was played very well by the Eagles. I didn't love it. I did not love having John Bates, all due respect, as one of the options. Of course, if it had worked, I would have been fine with it. Criticizing play calling, man, can really be some BS, usually from our seat.

It doesn't stop us from doing it, of course. But I just did not love that two-point play after the way they were rolling on those two drives in the fourth quarter. because it took until late in the third and the fourth quarter for the offense really to get rolling. Too long fourth quarter touchdown drives with Jaden really starting to get a feel for everything. Some receivers starting to get open, Antonio Williams, Stefan Diggs, after really not being open for much of the game, I think I would have rather seen the game decided with something other. than that. Of course, if Jalen Carter hadn't blocked the extra point after the Kroski Merritt touchdown in the first half, then maybe that game goes to overtime at 24-24. But

Jalen Carter's blocked, I think, now four or five kicks in his career. He's also the one that forced the fumble on Kroski Merit that could have ended the game had Josh Connerley, Connerly Jr. not jumped on it. A missed P.A.T. That blocked P.A.T. A missed field goal. A bunch of other plays cost them dearly in this one. It stings. It really does. It really felt like if they punched that in or if they had gotten Jalen Hertz off the field on 3rd and 18, they had a legit shot to steal one in the opener. They had a decent chance. They didn't get it done. Next week, it's the Cowboys in Dallas. All right. I will start with my recap. What I liked, didn't and a lot of other observations from a pretty interesting opening game in Philadelphia,

All right, let's get to my Game Take. Pay attention. He is Kevin's Game Day. The game take, as it is every year after every Washington regular season game. It's a list of the things that I like from a Washington perspective, a list of the things that I didn't like, along with several other observations from the game. It was a game that was exciting, far from perfect, of course, but it was a game that had a lot to it.

On a day, by the way, and I don't know where this will end up, but on a day in which the league produced unbelievable offense, so much for defense being ahead of offense early in the season. When I say this league's unpredictable, it is truly unpredictable. But that one o'clock window had to be one of the highest scoring one o'clock windows of all time. 59 to 37 in the Chicago game, 36 to 31, 31 to 30. I mean, it was a wild early window for sure. All right, let me begin with this.

On a day that produced offense throughout the league, I'm going to start with Washington's defense as the number one thing that I liked from this game. And yes, I know they gave up a lot of big plays. I'm going to get to that when I get to the other list. But I just thought it was so nice to see a defense that was so competent. they lived on the other side of the line of scrimmage. They lived in the Philadelphia backfield for much of the day. Some of the big plays Philly made were under duress.

I just thought there was excellent pressure all day. The tackling was really good for an opener. Other than that big run from Sequin in the first half, and I know that it counts, a 42-yard run does count, but for the rest of the day, he was less than three yards per carry. actually thought they did a nice job against the run and slowing him down with the exception of that one big run. And that's sometimes what Seguan does. He'll have one massive run and the rest of the day is three, three and a half yards per carry. Well, the rest of the day for him

against Washington today was less than three yards per carry. It was like 2.9 yards per carry. They had Jalen Hertz under duress for much of the day. Three sacks, lots of pressures. And the 10 TFLs, that is an outstanding number. I mean, Philly's runners and quarterback went down behind the line of scrimmage 10 times in the game. It was impressive. Philly had six first downs until late, late, late in the third quarter. It actually may have been the beginning of the fourth quarter when they got their seventh first down. Look, it was not an overall A-plus day or even a day for the defense because of all of the big plays that they gave up and I'm going to get to those.

But it was a solid B-plus day. The defense kept them in this game for the most part over the first three quarters before the offense finally got some things going in the fourth quarter. The list of players that just popped, and this is about an hour and a half after the game. So Nick Cross, I just kept writing his name down over and over again. He's everything that I thought he would be, at least in this first game, because he was this in Indianapolis. I'm telling you guys, Nick Cross is a good football player. He's excellent in the box.

He's an excellent tackler. He really is high IQ. He led the team in tackles. He had two TFLs himself. He had a great stop on Goddard, on Dallas Goddard. catch on a third and 14, but he kept him just short of the sticks. Nick Cross was excellent in this game. Sonny Stiles in his first game, so much for he's a bust from the preseason conversation.

I mean, we got a long way to go, clearly. Early down blitzer, they used him, Durante Jones did, really created some problems for Philadelphia. I don't know if those were run blitzes. I think they were in many cases. How about the sack he got just running over. Barkley to get to hurt. Sunny Stiles popped in this game. Frankie Louvo popped in this game before he got hurt and left the game. Addafei Owe, I thought, did a nice job for the most part.

Chason provided some pressure. Omenahue got some pressure and deflected a pass. Here, you know, just an hour and a half or so following the game, those are the names that really popped defensively for me. Antonio Williams is on the of things that I liked. It took until the fourth quarter for this team to really get going offensively, but he became really the most difficult cover because they were easy to cover for three quarters. A big part of why Washington just really couldn't get anything going consistently is nobody was really open. But Antonio Williams came up big with that 33-yard catch early in the fourth quarter on the drive that made it 17-15, 17-16.

eventually with the kick extra point. Four catches, 64 yards, and that touchdown catch was exceptional. It was not a great throw. Jaden was a little bit under duress, got it out there. He had control of it when it touched the ground. The ball didn't move. It was a great catch for a touchdown. Antonio Williams, number 14, outstanding in his first game.

Both of those rookies, I thought, showed really, really well in their first games. on the list of things that I liked, Jaden in the fourth quarter. Nine of 11 for 89 yards and two touchdowns on two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter when they absolutely had to have them. It started really with the final play of the third quarter, that crazy 13-yard scramble. In part, it was memorable for the spins and him making people miss, but how about the fact that he got down at the end of that run and didn't take an unnecessary hit. The third and 14 to Williams for 33 yards was huge. The third and six touchdown pass to Diggs

that we came into this segment with. I think may have been his best throw because it was against the blitz. I'm pretty sure the ball was out quickly. It was super accurate. He's got such a quick release at times, especially under pressure. That was a big time throw. He was just his clutch self in the fourth quarter. I'm going to talk about the first three quarters here in a moment, but on the list of things that I liked was him coming up big when they needed him to deliver. The fourth and two to Terry, he's just so calm in those situations. I did not think he was sharp at all through the first three quarters. You know, think back to the opener in 24, not super sharp. think back to the opener last year.

Not exactly his sharpest effort as well. So there was definitely some rust having not played in a real game since early December of last year. Now, I do think that Philly's defense had a lot to do with it. I think that Vic Fangio is a guy that can really paint some pictures that don't necessarily look like the ones you prepared for. his receivers had something to do with it. For sure, they were not getting open. Brady was talking about that throughout the entire game. I didn't think until the fourth quarter,

Diggs really started to cook Cooper DeGine and Antonio Williams was getting open. But I did think that Jaden was really patient when guys weren't getting open. He gave things time. I thought the offensive line did a good job. I'll get to that in a moment. there weren't a lot of places to go with the ball, you know,

but what's also true is he wasn't super accurate through three quarters. Diggs had a drop over the middle for sure, and you could call the drop early a drop, but that ball wasn't perfect. You got to catch it if you're Stefan Diggs, but it wasn't super accurate. The play in which he extended off schedule on a third down in the first half and floated one down the field, Diggs was open,

and he was terribly inaccurate on that throw. Look, the touchdown pass to Antonio Williams wasn't a perfect throw. Now he had to sling it out there kind of sidearm to get it there. So, yeah, the first three quarters, there were a lot of reasons for it, but he wasn't super sharp. The fourth quarter, though, when he had to be good, he was really good. Overall, by the way, I'll just grate him right now rather than waiting. I'd give him a B overall.

I mean, it was a C performance at best until the fourth quarter. But again, I don't think the three quarters that preceded the fourth were all on him. A couple of drops. And again, guys not getting open for the most part. Overall, I'd give him a B. I don't know what his QBR is going to look like when ESPN puts it up late tonight or early tomorrow morning. But I'm going to guess it's going to be in that B range. Also on the list of things that I liked, the offensive line.

Considering the dire warnings, the whole line I thought did a really nice job. One sack and it was barely a sack. Jaden, you know, did get pressured on that one and almost got back to the line of scrimmage, which would have meant that it would have been a zero-yard rush and not a sack. He had time. You know, the pressure rate's going to be a little bit misleading because he held it because there weren't guys open. And I think he did a nice job of getting rid of it and avoiding sacks after he had plenty of time to throw.

But I thought the O-line did a really nice job in protection. So the O-line is on the list of things that I liked. Kroski merits on the list of things that I liked. Now there was a problem on that final drive. But I thought he did a really nice job running the ball against that front. He had multiple double-digit yard carries. He was 16 of 63, so that's just below four yards per carry. I thought he had good vision.

I think he does look bigger and stronger to me, even against Philadelphia's front. The touchdown run was exceptional. He could have been stopped for a loss, but his strength really got him through that, pushed it to the goal line, landed on bodies instead of landing on the ground, did drop the ball there and then regained it, and it was over the goal line for a touchdown. But that fumble is a killer, man. This is a guy that had some fumbling issues last year, and that was ballgame if he coughs that up. But I thought there was a lot of good from Kroski Merritt, and I enjoyed watching him run.

Of course, he got benched after that fumble. He didn't come back into the game because they went with Ketron Allen on that final drive. On the list of things that I liked, two for two on fourth down, the run by Bill on a fourth and one on their first half touchdown drive. I think it was a zone read. There were a few zone reads in the game. There were none of those designed runs. Remember, a zone read is an option, you know, hand it off or keep it.

There were no designed runs. There wasn't, you know, a quarterback draw. There wasn't a quarterback power. There wasn't a quarterback counter. The other fourth down was the throw to Terry on the final drive, which was huge. Also on the list of things that I liked, Tressway. and the punt coverage, something that was just so consistent all last year. Larry Izzo's pretty good special teams coach, didn't he?

You know, they had, I think, the number two or number three special teams unit in the league last year per DVOA. Tressway averaged 53 yards per punt. 53. He did punt one into the end zone that I know that he would have loved to see somebody get down there and cover. Ball didn't stay in. That one hurt a bit, but I thought he had a good day punt. hunting the football. All right. The list of things that I did not like. Number one is really easy. I think it was the difference in the game. Too many big plays allowed by the defense, which I had is my

number one on the things that I liked list. Yes, I feel that way. I felt great about the overall defensive performance in the game, living on the other side of the line of scrimmage, being you know, chaotic and confusing to hurts and disruptive. But the difference in the game was the big plays that they allowed. And there were six of them in particular. Number one was the first deep ball to Wix on Philly's third drive. A 64-yard pass completion with Sanristill, stopping in coverage. It was not a good day for Mikey Sanris still. But I don't know. I also felt

like that was the third drive of the game, and Washington had Oway and Chason and Louvo wreaking havoc on the first two drives, and then they were out for the first part of that third drive, and they were off the field when Wix. I'm pretty sure they were. At least I made a note of it on the 64-yard play to Wix. I know it was a hot day. I know that they had to rotate in, a lot of players. I understand that. But the way they started on those first two drives, and then some of those players were not on the field for the early portion of that third drive. But that 64-yarder, Sanra still, what are you doing, dude? You got to run. You can't stop. Then on that drive, the first Philly touchdown, third and goal at the 17. Are you kidding me?

Dallas Goddard opened down the seam, down the middle of the field. I don't know if it was Martin. I don't know if it was Reeves. I don't know if it was Louvue, who was supposed to drop deeper. You can't give up a third and goal from the 17 on the first read. If somebody's going to score a touchdown on third and goal from the 17, it's got to be with the quarterback creating extra time, going off schedule, and guys having to cover for a long period of time and losing guys. Not on the first read. Now, they did not blitz. I went back and looked at this. I went back and looked at this. They rushed four and they dropped, you know, seven, but maybe on third and goal from the 17, you rush three and you drop eight and you play everything from the goal line in front of you

and you make sure that they're kicking a field goal on the next play. So, you know, Durante Jones may have had something to do with that too. You see a lot of rush three drop eight in situations like that. condensed field, it's going to be awfully difficult, awfully difficult for you to score. Rush four, seven in coverage, and one misstep or one miscommunication, and there's Goddard for a touchdown. Can't have that. Barclay's 42-yard run was the third big play. That was the third and two on Philly's fifth drive of the first half.

Chanel had a shot at him in the hole, but Barclay made him miss. Look, Barclay's going to do that. he's really, really good. The third and 5-31-yarder to Devante Smith in the third quarter against Rassul Douglas. That was a big play. I mean, listen to the down, I mean, the 64-yarder, the third-in-gold to 17, a third and two in the Barclay run, a third and five, Devante Smith. And then the third and 18 scrambled by Hertz for 22, up 17 to 16, was devastating.

That right there was an absolute. backbreaker. Get them off the field after they had scored to make it 17, 16. Get it in good field position. You had Philadelphia going backwards. Jalen Hertz made some really good plays and throws in this game. The third and six touchdown throw to Goddard for 43 yards was obviously a killer. Let me just say that I thought initially the play looked awkward and that there had to have been a false start by either Goddard or the left tackle. The rules referee expert, and I'm forgetting who it was because it wasn't Pereira. But he said the play was legal. It's certainly through our defense off and basically out of the play. And that's on them.

You know, you can't rely on them getting the flag. You got to play the play and Goddard's open. And then he takes it to the house. So you still got to play the play. But yeah, I thought. that Goddard, you know, when I went back and looked at the replay, Goddard clearly was not false starting. He was moving laterally, which was in motion.

The question was, did the left tackle move at the same time? Or did anybody else? And the rules expert on Fox said it was a legal play, but a 43-yard play there was a killer. So too many back-breaking big plays, six of them. I just gave you the six of them. given up by a defense that I think was the number one reason the team was in the game when they got to the fourth quarter.

I just thought the defense made so many good plays that kept them in it, but the big plays that it allowed were really ultimately the difference in the game. Mikey Sanders still had a bad day. I don't think there's any way around it. He did have, I think, a TFL in the backfield on a play on a tackle, but he was beat by Wix on that deep one for 64 yards. Then on the touchdown to Wix, he looked lost on that one. Mikey Sanr still had issues covering last year,

and at least this very first game, there were certainly some glaring examples of him struggling to cover. Next up on the list of things that I didn't like from the game, there just wasn't a lot open for three quarters in the pass offense. I mean, Brady talked about it over, over again. You could see it on the replays. I talked to somebody who was a part of the broadcast of the game for our team. And from that booth, they said nothing. You know, London Fletcher was on the call defensively. There just wasn't a lot. Terry didn't get his first catch until a line

of scrimmage, throw late in the fourth quarter. You know, they added Diggs and Diggs is a route runner and a space creator. Terry just isn't that as much. He's still a great contested catch guy, you know, and had that big fourth and two catch. I'm going to say this right now, and I'm sure I'm going to look stupid at some point for saying it after one game. The number one need in the off season, next off season, is going to be wide receiver. They've got to find some big time, you know, threaten the defense wide receivers. Yeah. we won't talk about the guy from San Francisco

that went crazy on social media back in June, but he might get his act together and be available next year. Who knows? Not a lot open in the past game is on the list of things that I didn't like. The Diggs penalty is obviously on the things that I did not like. Look, Diggs, he was starting to create some space in the fourth quarter, get open. Philly was tiring a little bit, and I think it was, you know, Cooper de Jeanne that just could not stay with him.

But you cannot do that, Stefan. You're down, you're down eight. You're down 17, nine, dude, with 10 minutes to go on the fourth quarter. You got to know that if you score, you need the two-point conversion to tie. You're going for the two. You're in the fourth quarter. You know, and if they had lost that game, 17 to 16, or 20 to 16, where it could have been 20 to 17 and they had to go for a touchdown late.

They had the opportunity down eight again where they scored and they had another chance to go for two, but that is just really, really dumb what he did. I don't think he's doing it like selfishly, but he's not thinking. You got to think. I thought he played pretty well, though. On the list of things that I didn't like in this game, too many sloppy mistakes. stakes overall to beat a good team. One of my keys was be less sloppy than your opponent, because typically week one has a lot of slop to it. There were a couple of, you know, drop passes,

certainly the digs that went over the middle of the field. There was a block, you know, PAT, Jalen Carter is incredible. There's a missed 54-yard field goal. I think there were two delay of game penalties that were really unnecessary because they were at the line of scrimmage, and that was on Jaden. They had a wasted timeout on offense in the first. half, a wasted timeout on defense in the second half. And then the timeout used on offense before the fourth and two on that final drive that they converted on the throw to Terry McClearn. But it put them into a position where at that point with just one timeout left, now you're definitely in, if you don't get the two-point conversion, you're going to have to

kick an onside kick, which, as we know, is not a very high probability. You needed to have two timeouts in that spot. Two timeouts gives you a chance to kick deep, get a stop, get the ball back, down two with a chance for field goal range. Yeah. And then, of course, the Diggs penalty is part of the slop, too, you know. On the list of things that I didn't like, they missed, I thought, an egregious hold against Diami Brown on a third down where he was open and Jaden went deep to him. I also think they missed Rassul Douglas mug Wicks. on a Philadelphia third down, so it probably evened out.

The two-point play is the last thing on the list of things that I didn't like. I just didn't love it for the reasons that I mentioned in the open. I don't want John Bates to be an option on that play. I mean, unless he is on a play action or on a bootleg, kind of the guy that they think the defense won't pay attention to

and he sort of gets caught up in the wash and then emerges in the end zone wide open. But no, not as a show. shovel option. I wanted to see something else there. And again, I think we will learn whether or not Jaden had an option

to not shovel it, but to get out on the edge and throw the flat pass to Rashad White, who was wide open. I have a feeling Jaden is reading that edge, and the edge played Jaden. We'll see.

All right. Several other observations. from this one, including what I thought of Blow and Durante Jones in their first game as coordinators and play callers. A 22-yard scramble by Jalen Hertz on a third and 18 with just over eight minutes to go in a one-point game. Out of all of the big plays they had, I think that one was the one that hurt the most. All right, let me get to the other observations from the game, and I've got a bunch here. First of all, how about Berks and McCaffrey? Both Traylon Burks and Luke McCaffrey were inactive for this game.

I thought that was odd. They used Jalen Lane on kickoffs. They used Rashad White also on kickoffs. I think they might bring Van Jefferson up this week. Just a hunch. I think, you know, as a veteran receiver, They don't want to guarantee his year-long salary, which is guaranteed if you're on that week one roster. I think they like him.

I thought it was surprising. It's funny because Ben Standing mentioned to me on Friday, he thought there was a chance that Berks might not be active. But I don't think he thought both would be inactive. How about this game, you know, week one opener, no takeaways, no giveaways. Washington had no turnovers. They also had no takeaways, continuing a trend from last year. Philly, no turnovers as well. From that standpoint, really the only opportunity was when Bill put it on the ground on that final drive and a great job by Conner Lee Jr. to snag that one. A no turnover game in the opener. Washington needs to get some takeaways because field position was not great. They had a couple of opportunities there in the second half where they had some field position and they didn't do enough with it.

And when they missed that field goal from 54 yards out, it kind of flipped the field position in the game. But man, they play aggressively. It looks like they're going to play aggressively. And you would have thought with as many times as they put Hertz under duress and under pressure that maybe they would have gotten one today. they did not. You know, what was really good in this football game was the punting in this football game. Braden Mann, seven punts, 51.6 yards per punt. He had four of his seven inside the 20. I think three of those four were inside the 10, and Tress Way averaged 53 yards per punt. The punting in the first half was an absolute factor in the game.

If you look at field position starts in the first part of the game, Washington opened from their own 36 because of a decent kickoff return by Jalen Lane. I probably should have included that on the list of things that I liked because Jalen Lane had a couple of really good kickoff returns. But then Philly started from their own, okay, 35 after a punt. Washington started from their own six, then Philly, then Washington started from their own 22, Philly, their own 24. Washington had another one, well, the end of the first half, they started from their own 16, then they started from their own 33.

But that final drive of the first half was a really good punt after Washington got a stop with 33 seconds to go and they had to run the, clock out, which they did, which was the right move, by the way. 33 seconds to go, your own two even with timeouts. Take it to the half, which they did down 14 to 9. But punting was excellent in this football game. Yeah, I did have on my notes here. Jalen Lane had a really good game.

I probably should have put them on the list of things that I liked as a returner. How about Stevens, Drew Stevens, first pro kick, a 55-yard field goal? and he nailed it, nailed it. Missed the 54-yarder, had a PAT blocked. Those were critical plays in the game. But to be put out there for your first professional kick from 55 yards and to deliver, that was good. Now, the play that preceded the 55-yard field goal,

a third and 10, I didn't like that call at the Philadelphia 40, a draw to Rashad White for three yards. Didn't like it. I mean, you're kind of, of, I know that they were patient. They wanted to get points on the board. They probably felt like any sort of negative play or a sack. And they're going to have to punt. They wanted three out of it. No. Third and ten, draw. I guess, you know, if you really think it's got a chance to bust. But to be honest with you, with Rashad White, I'm going to mention this in a moment. I didn't think he looked very fleet of foot. I think he looked faster in Tampa. So I didn't love the third and ten that preceded that field goal by Stevens. to open up the scoring on the opening drive of the game. I also did not think they needed the flea flicker early.

They hadn't really set up anything at that point. You know, that was a first drive flea flicker on a first and 10, and Jaden ended up throwing it away. It looked sort of awkward and not necessarily fluid. And that was, you know, on the drive in which they ended up kicking the field goal. I think we're going to see a lot of, if he's got a lot of Ben Johnson in them, we're going to see trick plays. What else is on my list?

Yeah, I thought Rashad White looked slower than he did in Tampa. The injuries, Tyler Owens, who is a beast on special teams, and we saw it early in the game, he got hurt, Chigacanquo got hurt, Louvo didn't come back. I don't think any of those players ended up coming back in the game. What else did I have? All right, Blau and Jones to finish up. So I really liked what I saw out of Durante Jones in his first game as a play caller and coordinator.

I think he had that defense ready. I think they were energized. I think they played aggressively. And it's much more pleasant to watch that. They gave up too many big plays. And it cost him the game. It did. And I think the third and 17, I think, you know, you got to protect there.

You cannot give up a first progression read touchdown down the seam to somebody that you got to know where Dallas Godgert is on a play like that. You know, I think it's rush three, drop eight. If you're going to rush four, you've got to have something that just protects that goal line and just beyond it and keep everything in front of you on a play like that. But I thought overall, you know, they appeared to blitz a lot. on early downs with styles. You know, I don't know if those are legitimate pass rush blitz or just run blitzes, which turn into pass rush blitzes. If they are throwing the ball in first down, you know, I think they showed a lot.

I think he's got an issue right now in coverage, or at least it appears with San Ristel, a bad day for San Ristel. He's never had good days against Philly, but that was usually because of A.J. Brown. Yeah, I thought Durante Jones had a really good first day. I thought David Blow, you know, the two-point conversion we're going to remember. I didn't love the call on third and ten before the first field goal. But I thought he was patient with the run. Overall, I'm just looking at the box score.

34 pass attempts, 30 with, you know, it's 34 legitimately. There were some penalties here and there and there was the one sack. And 32 rush attempts. Kroski Merritt, 16 for 63. Ketron Allen came in for Cross. asking merit after the fumble, four for 16. Rashad White was 722. Jaden had five, and they were really scrambles.

There was a zone read pool on one of them. But I thought he was patient. I thought he stuck with the run. The game situation was never out of control, which would have forced them to drop back. There weren't people open for much of the game. You know, it's possible that a film breakdown from Souter this week, hopefully, fingers crossed.

Souter doesn't know for sure if he's going to be able to do it right away, we'll see. It takes a lot of effort, and hopefully he's going to be able to do it for us occasionally at the very least. But, yeah, I thought he was, it's not like they were gashing Philly, although Kroski Merritt had some good runs, especially in the first half. But I thought he was patient. I just didn't like a couple of those high, high profile calls. That's all. Um, yeah.

I think overall, Durante Jones had a better first day than Blow, but again, it's the first day. And back to where I started this, just do not lose your mind over anything that happened today, unless it was a serious injury. And Jaden got through it healthy. And it doesn't look like any of the other three are serious, but we'll find out more about him tomorrow. I can tell you this, Louvue and Akankwo and Owens are three really good players for team and they need them next Sunday in Dallas. All right, that'll do it.
