Starting point is 00:00:00 All the success training that you've paid for, all the time and effort you've put into manifesting techniques or how to set goals and achieve them or how to attract success into your life, none of it will ever, ever work unless you fix one thing. Habits. You can't stop a habit. You can't eliminate a habit. You have to replace it with something else. Winning is a habit. Being successful is a habit. Being successful is a habit. Losing is also a habit. Correct your habits, replacing failure habits with success habits, and everything in your life changes. We live unconsciously. Most of us live unconsciously. You don't really think about what you do, you don't think about how you think, and you don't think about what you say.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Those things happen automatically. You're on autopilot. It's really your how you think. You're habits that you live by. Successful people live by success habits and unsuccessful people live by failure habits. That's the fact. The way you speak and the phrases you use is a 100% habit. The way you react to things that happen in your life, you react to them out of habit, not because you're using deliberate intent, not because you're actually thinking about it and consciously responding, you react. That reaction is autopilot. It's a habit.
Starting point is 00:01:41 So if you think of the habits that you have, and if you think of the habits that successful people have, I can tell you they are different. If you're trying to achieve success in your life, you can't continue to do, think, and say all the things you've been doing, thinking, and saying, expecting to get a different result. If you would actually compare how a very successful person lives throughout the day.
Starting point is 00:02:09 If you were a fly on the wall, and I actually do fly in the wall training, people actually live with me. And that's how I learned. I was a fly on the wall when I went into multi-million dollar homes, sat down and watched and observed people that had 100, 200, 500 million dollars cash in the bank, billionaires, incredibly successful people, very productive. people, people that manifested or created the life they want very easily and effortlessly, at least it seemed to me. And when I would watch them, I would notice that they stand a certain way, they walk a certain way, they have certain mannerisms, facial expressions. They had certain phrases. They spoke with certain voice inflection. They had certain ways of using words. Then they also thought differently. And you really can't see.
Starting point is 00:03:01 the thoughts but you can see how the thoughts translate into words and actions so you can kind of imagine how they think because a lot of people think out loud so if you look at the habits that you have these are failure habits words do you use the word for example try well successful people don't say try that's a that's a a habit that you get into. When a situation presents itself and there's a challenge, when it's tough, if there's a setback, if there's an obstacle that you're facing, if there's something you attempt to do and it doesn't work out right, if you fail. How do you react to it or do you respond to it? Your reactions are on autopilot. Now these habits are actually ingrained in your
Starting point is 00:03:59 brain. Now think about this. Researchers now have proven that what we've been saying within our groups for hundreds of years is now scientifically proven to be true. Your brain establishes what's called neuropathways. And when you have a habit, maybe the habit is how you react to adversity. Something doesn't go your way. There's an obstacle. There's a roadblock. There's a setback. You have some adversity that you're facing. You attempt to do something and it doesn't work out right. There's something, you know, we get a curveball thrown at us. Your reaction is the habit.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Do you say, ah, nothing ever works out for me? That's a habit. A successful person doesn't do that. They have another habit. When something doesn't go their way, if an obstacle comes up that they weren't expecting, if there's a roadblock, if there's something that is a pushback, you know, you know, They react differently out of habit as well. But their habit is, let's figure this out.
Starting point is 00:05:07 I mean, that's an instant phrase that I hear a lot from successful people. Let's figure this out. Or we need to figure this out. Or we need to get over this. We need to figure out a way through this. I mean, there's this instant reaction toward attacking. A failure, for example, has to happen. habit of defending and wanting to be a victim and wanting to bury their head in the sand and go,
Starting point is 00:05:35 oh, no, it didn't work out. Oh, it never works out for me. Victim, they collapse inward, where the habit of a successful person is always outward, and when pushed, they push back and attack. This is very similar to martial arts. Grandmaster Tye was a good friend of mine, and he always said, you don't protect yourself. You're not defending yourself. There's no such thing. is self-defense. If somebody's trying to attack you or hurt you, you violently attack back. You don't self-defense. You don't go into defensive mode. The best defense is an offense, as we've heard that phrase. So successful people have the habit of always attacking back when something comes up where there's a challenge, an obstacle, some adversity that they need to overcome.
Starting point is 00:06:27 But this is a habit. The phrases you use, as I mentioned, try or things just don't work out for me. This is a habit. Successful people say, let me tell you what we're going to do. Successful people have the habit of saying, this is what we're going to do. Let me tell you where we're going. They're very decisive. This is a habit. Decisiveness is a habit. Leadership qualities are habits. Writing things down, setting. goals, putting down timelines of their achievement when you're going to complete them. This is a winner's success habit. Doing it now is a huge habit that successful people do. Failures procrastinate. Winners do it now. There are hundreds of these distinctions between failure habits and success habits but here's the big point the big point is the brain establishes neuropathways anytime you have a habit if it is a counterproductive habit or counter survival habit we can call that a loser habit or a failure habit
Starting point is 00:07:41 there's one part of the brain where these neuropathways are established if it's a survival habit as success habit of achievement habit there's another part of the brain where a neuro pathway is established and two different parts of the brain. Interestingly enough though, they have the same end result, which is you get addicted to your habits. It's biological. It's actual chemical addiction. So if you have a habit of procrastinating and you start trying to break that habit and you say, I'm not going to procrastinate, I'm going to do it now. Because there's a neuro pathway which is activated when you procrastinate, the brain starts
Starting point is 00:08:30 making you feel bad. You actually can get depressed, anxious, or stressed out. And the only way you can get over that is if you do the failure habit again. When you do the failure habit again, the body is flooded with endorphins, with your feel good hormones, with serotonin and dopamine. You get this massive dopamine hit. It's like shooting up heroin and you're like, I feel so much better.
Starting point is 00:08:57 You feel better when you continue to do the failure habit. The same thing happens when you don't do your success habit. You start getting anxious or stressed and it drives you to continue to do the success habit. I'll tell you an interesting story. I lived with a buddy of mine, we were roommates, and I decided to move. Now, when I live with this buddy, I used to go downtown Chicago two or three times a week to have some meetings, and I would drive home. It's an hour and a half drive from downtown Chicago to where I was living.
Starting point is 00:09:28 And I kind of got into the habit of following this route and going home. I'm on autopilot. Well, I moved. I moved from this house to another house. I went downtown, had my meeting. I came back, got out of my car, and I noticed I'm in the parking lot of the house I don't live in anymore. I was on autopilot. I drove to that house out of house.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I said, oh no, had to turn around, drive another half an hour to my new house. The next time I went downtown, I started driving home. Halfway home, I caught myself. I said, I'm driving the wrong way. I turned around and started going the right way home. The third time in that same week, I went downtown to my meeting on the way home. Before I got in the car, I said, okay, I don't live in Arlington Heights anymore. anymore I live in Elk Grove Village I'm gonna make sure I drive home the
Starting point is 00:10:23 correct way and I drove home the correct way so the actual way that you break failure habits is this one when you notice sometimes a day later that yesterday you did something out of habit that was a failure habit just say the words cancel cancel and then remember the next time that you're gonna correct it next After you do that a while, you'll keep noticing that you remember that you did the failure habit after you did it. At a certain point, halfway in the middle of doing your failure habit, that's when you'll say, I'm doing the failure habit.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Cancel, cancel. And then you'll get to the point is right before you're about to speak that out of habit, automatic autopilot or do something out of habit. Right before you do it, you'll catch yourself and say, cancel. will cancel. And then you'll start being much more proactive. You'll be actually operating with deliberate intent and you'll start being able to catch yourself way before you start taking action and you'll start doing things with deliberate intent. And this is the next part of how you create and change the bad habits. You can't stop a habit. You can't eliminate a habit. You have to
Starting point is 00:11:45 replace it with something else. So anytime you have a failure habit you have to replace it simultaneously with a success habit so as you're not activating this neuro pathway you are establishing a new neuro pathway my good friend ed foreman one of the greatest trainers and motivational speakers of all time but interestingly enough he was worth hundreds of millions of dollars before he ever gave a motivational speech he'd been money in the restaurant business real estate development business in texas and oil and gas development he was also a two-time U.S. Congressman. So he was an incredibly successful guy, and then he started teaching people how he became successful. He was talking from experience, not just sound good advice.
Starting point is 00:12:30 But he always gave the story. He says, if you're watching some garbage on TV, and it's not programming you for success, what should you do? And mostly everybody in the room would say, shut it off. He says, well, that's the second best answer. The best answer is, the channel you have to replace failure habits with success habits and you have to catch yourself so as you go through your life you have to think what am I doing what am I saying and what am I thinking that's actually a failure habit and you should write those down you should actually take some stock and saying what are my thought patterns which probably don't serve me
Starting point is 00:13:18 very well, which successful people probably don't think this way. What are the words that I use and the speech patterns that I use that successful people probably don't speak this way? And what are the actions that I do, like procrastination, that successful people probably don't do? And then, when you find out the bad habits you have, ask yourself, what would be the replacement? So, for example, You can do it both ways, by the way. You can say, what are the success habits of successful people? Well, one thing is they write things down. They get a piece of paper and a pen and usually write things down.
Starting point is 00:13:56 They're usually writing notes. They're writing their to-do list. Most importantly, they write down their goals. They write down the things they want. And they set timelines on its achievement. They write things down. That's a habit. Do you do that?
Starting point is 00:14:15 Here's another success habit of successful people. They generally get up early, and I say generally because not everyone, but one thing they do is they're never rushed. They usually give themselves plenty of time. They're in control of their time. I'll tell you a failure habit, because I bet in people's homes, they get up late and they're rushing in the morning, grabbing their cup of coffee, hurrying up, and then running out the door hurrying, hurrying to get to work on time. That's a failure habit. That's a big failure
Starting point is 00:14:52 habit. Think about that. So you need to replace failure habits with success habits. We live on autopilot. We live on unconscious competence. We do things unconsciously. We're good at them. You tie your shoes. You don't think about tying your shoes. You just tie your shoes. You just tie your shoes. You don't think about how you're going to brush your teeth. You just brush your teeth. We do things all day long, completely unconsciously, and we're very competent at doing it, because it's a habit. We are unconsciously competent. We're on autopilot, and we do things without deliberate intent. We do things without thinking. If you want to live your life better, if you want to achieve more, live your life with deliberate intent be thoughtful about how you think watch your thoughts be thoughtful
Starting point is 00:15:52 about the words you use and the phrases you use watch your words and watch your actions a success habit of successful people is when they meet somebody they usually look them in the eye and they listen more than they talk They ask questions. They use the six honest serving men, and they use them till they die. They are what, when, and where, who, how, and why. They ask questions, and they listen. They understand that they have two ears in one mouth, and they use them proportionately. They make decisions that they're going to do it, that's it, period.
Starting point is 00:16:33 They are decisive. They do the right things long enough consistently. Successful people have the habit of consistent and persistent effort. Successful people have the habit of getting up when he get knocked down. Earl Nightingale made the statement. He says, successful people are not people without problems. You're simply people who have the habit of overcoming problems. It's a habit.
Starting point is 00:17:05 The old Chinese proverb says, fall down eight times. Get up nine. That's a habit. A success habit is when pushed and faced with a mountain, you don't give up. You say, I'm going to figure out a way over this or a way around it, or I'm going to dig a tunnel through it, or I'll just simply stay and turn this mountain into a gold mine. Successful people have stick to it at this. Think about that. Failures quit. Successful people never quit. Winners never quit. And quiters never win. Think about it. Successful people have a habit of loving to win, but they also have a habit of hating to lose. Great Vince Lombardi said, show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser.
Starting point is 00:18:07 That's a habit. Think about it. Successful people have a habit of thinking they'll always win in the end. No matter how far down they are, they'll figure a way out. It's a habit. Some of the greatest sports coaches of all time said this. Winning is a habit. Think about it.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Losing is a habit as well. And I'll give you probably one of the biggest ones. Losers have the habit of always doing one thing very well. Making excuses. Winners simply win. Replace your failure habits with winning habits, with success habits, and you'll start winning and being successful too. My name is Peter Sage.
Starting point is 00:19:05 So up in 35 years in personal growth, we read just about every book on the subject. and if I was to put one book ahead of everything else in terms of what it's done for me, the information on how it's changed my life, it would have to be your wishes, your command. And there's not just one area. It's not just finances or relationships or in a piece. It's everything in one amazing book. I can't say anymore.
Starting point is 00:19:25 You read what's in this book and you make the kind of gains that I've made. You are going to wish that your command happens sooner.
