Hey, guys, this episode is brought to you by Tea Public.
You guys know Tea Public.
I've been with Tea Public forever since the Shmowdown days, since the big thing launched.
If you have a Sith Council shirt, if you have any of our shirts, you got them from Tea Public.
From over the years, we've been working with Tea Public.
When I went out on my own, they were one of the first calls that I made.
So not only you can get all of the branded merch from this show, T-shirts, stickers, phone cases, mugs, all that,
when you are on the site, do a search.
You're going to discover something that you like,
especially in this space, man.
An artist uploads new work to the Tea Public Marketplace
every five seconds.
Because of the thousands of global artists
that populate the marketplace,
you're going to find designs you won't find
at a big box store,
especially if your interests are super niche.
It doesn't matter what you're into,
you can find it on Tea Public.
You want a graphic tea of a cat riding a unicorn?
Check.
A t-shirt with your favorite movie quote?
Got it.
You want merch?
for the big thing. Hey, that's what you want, obviously. I've been using T-Public forever. If you guys
know me from back in the day, I've been talking about them that long. So it was obvious that I was
going to be using them again. And I'm so glad that I did. So many of you guys, when I see you at
some of the events, you're wearing the big thing shirts, and it all comes from T-Public. And
browse around on my link. It's going to be in the eye card right there. It's going to be in the
description right there. Brows around. You will find stuff that you like. So I'm happy that
they're on the show. They're sponsoring the show now. Tea Public, everybody. Check them out.
What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to Wednesday, Big Thing, Sith Council, and it is the Asoka
Episode 6, full-on spoiler discussion with myself and Mike Kalinowski. Thanks for joining us to,
yeah, we're going to talk about that. There's no doubt about it. Spoiler, so he clicked on it,
tough. Thrawn's back, baby. He made his appearance. What did we think? And why did Mike hate it? So we'll get
into all of that, but there's the other big news that kind of came out was reports, rumors,
that Tycho Atini, I guess, like a week or two ago had said something along the lines that
I guess, I don't remember who it was. Somebody has a better shot of him, their movie coming out
first because he hasn't even finished his script, and then there was a report that his movie's
not happening, and then there was a report that debunked that it is happening. But there was an
interesting stat of all the directors that have been either rumored and how many, how many
directors actually finished movies.
It's pretty staggering
when you look at it in general. Speaking of which
the Ray movie apparently starts filming soon
in March or April, whenever
the writer strike and the sack strike
is over, that's what they say.
But that's also if the strike ever
ends. But if you're brand new
to the channel, man, we're ready at 93,000.
We're over 93,000.
We're approaching 100,000.
And if you guys are brand new to the channel,
then if you hit that button, you'll be
part of the reactions, you'll be part of the reviews,
You'll be part of the podcast.
You be part of all of it and more.
So, without any further ado, let's get into Asoka.
Episode 6, spoiler chat with myself and Mike Kalinowski.
Here we go.
All right, everybody.
We are back.
It is the Sith Council.
Big thing.
Thank you for joining us today on the show.
Excited to get into everything.
Asoka, Tano, related when it comes to this episode, to me, cooked.
It was really, it was a really solid episode.
episode. It's me, Christian Harlock, joined by Mike Kalanowski. We missed you last week. Mike,
Kevin Smet. Have I heard of Kevin Smets? It sounds familiar. Yeah. Yeah. Well, he was on the show last
week. And we, before we get into six, we haven't spoken about what you thought about. Get into six?
Oh, the episode. Episode. Yeah. Yeah, buddy. Shut your mouth. All right. Five. What you think of five.
Okay, so what I did was, yeah. I watched them both last night. Oh, you hadn't seen five.
I hadn't watched. I just got busy. What a girl.
Yeah, yeah. Halloween.
time of the year.
So,
spit it out,
we were on radio.
I know.
I like the show.
You said,
you hate it,
don't you?
You hate everything.
I like the show.
Okay.
But I like,
as a Star Wars fan,
I like the show.
Yeah.
As a general audience fan
watching this show.
Are you lost now?
I'm not lost.
Okay.
I'm just like...
Because you liked one and two a lot.
I know the Clone Wars.
Yeah.
I know what happened during the Clone Wars.
I'll say this.
Okay.
We'll go positive first.
Yeah.
Whatever they did with his
face infinitely better than that one second cameo at the beat.
Like that befuddles me.
He's talking, he's having a scene great acting.
The one shot, I don't know.
But the one shot was just like, I don't know if they...
I don't know what it was.
Maybe they rushed through it.
Yeah, but it was fantastic.
But if that was your first time you're showing it, you should have, that's where you should
have put the best thing.
But watching those scenes, and I get the relationship with you because I did watch
ad nauseum, the Clone Wars movie because the Shmodeown.
I had to watch that movie.
So I know the dynamic.
I know Snips and Sky Guy and all that.
Yeah.
I think, and again, I know it's the world between worlds.
I don't think that needed to be explained anymore for a general audience.
It was just, it's the, it's the nether realm, it's the afterlife.
You think the Home War stuff was cool?
I thought it was very cool, but I also thought, and I know it was a choice.
Everything around them was muddled.
Like, it was cloudy, but they're in the middle of a battlefield.
What I've loved to have seen.
Like, to me, what we've gotten that was what I wanted an Obi-1 of the two of them.
Well, what I had said, I talked to a friend about this, the other one thing.
I think you probably agree with this, too.
You looked at what they could accomplish in that episode with Soka, right?
Wouldn't it have been better if the name of the show, and again, we're not going to rehash the whole thing, but the name of the show is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
We know that, right? It was Obi-Wan.
If they were able to do, essentially what we're talking about here is that there's two storylines.
You flashback, it might be a little more expensive, but they need to put a little more money in that show.
They flashed back, and you have a storyline of Obi-Wan and Anakin in the Clone Wars, something that connects to the throughline of him,
conversations, then you see that moment of, and he was a good friend.
You learn more about that, and then the Obi-1 once thought, as you did, as we lead to that
battle that happens between the two of them, as opposed to the Young Leia stuff, the Rivas stuff,
you could have done other things, you could have had stuff with him and Satine,
you didn't need, Obi-Wan, like, all the stuff.
Killer Croc running across the rooftops.
Right.
But, like, but, sorry, you were saying.
So, yeah, so, like, I loved the Clone Wars, the look of Anakin, because I know from the
toys and everything, the armor look.
So that was just cool.
And as a, so I am not lost.
like, does that work for me?
What's not working for me is,
I was talking to another buddy of mine about the show,
and I think Hera is miscast.
I think she's too young.
Hera, okay.
There's just a gravitas to that character
if she's a general that's just missing.
And now over both episodes,
it just seems, and I don't mean the pacing of the show,
everyone is so slow
and their delivery of their lines.
It's this weird, like, when Teva's sitting there,
like, they need an answer.
General, I got to tell them what we're doing.
And she's just like, Jason's finding something in the water.
It was like the slow back and forth.
I'm like, the cool, they're all coming.
Let's get some pace going.
Let's get some, hey, General, we got to find out what's cool.
What are we doing?
And then this bug got to me.
Mom, listen.
Listen, mom.
She's got these giant earmuffs on.
What the hell is she listening?
How is she hearing these lightsabers in the water with these giant earmuffs?
And she's just like, oh, I hear it.
No, you don't.
Take the damn thing up and go, oh, now I hear it.
Like, it's stuff like that that bugs the...
Out of me.
Like, anything.
DC, Marvel would bug the hell out of me.
Bug the hell out of me.
Your mouse is going to do anything.
But here we go.
What's the thing?
I got to say this.
Because people say this to me, and I'm the same way with movies.
If you're truly invested in enjoying it, stuff like that doesn't bother you.
But because I'm kind of like looking at my phone three episodes because it's not engaging me,
I am kind of nitpicking every little thing.
So look.
But if you're a fan of the clone.
Wars and rebels.
I get why you love that.
I see why you guys are loving it.
So the people for the past 15 years that have always watching Clone Wars and rebels and
they're always talking about it and I was kind of on the fringes of that, I see why
you're loving this and I will not go, you're wrong for thinking this is the best Star Wars.
I can't say that because for you guys 100% and it, that's okay.
It's made for people like that.
Great.
For me as a casual audience, I'm just kind of like, I like what they're doing.
I enjoy it.
It's not, it's Star Wars, so it's still fun.
It's still great to watch.
I'm just like, the whales thing worked for me.
Remember, like, what was it last episode or Bobafet where they saw the whales?
I was just like, I'm like, oh, that's all we're going to see these things.
And you and stuff were kind of like, they're part of the thing and it's this and that.
And so it seems like, that's pretty cool.
Can I go now?
Okay, thank you so much.
You're right when it comes to, like, rebel stuff.
I am enjoying the show very much.
So I do see certain criticisms that not only you have,
that other people have that some of the,
I don't mind the slow pace of it.
I could see where it might get frustrating.
I will say this though, and we can kind of jump
a little bit into six here, where normally you
and I have not been on the same page with Sabine, right?
I've said, I like Sabine.
You said, well, I don't know if it's the character choices,
whatever it is.
I didn't like a lot of the character choices in six.
I'll tell you the one thing that drove me crazy,
where I almost had that moment that you
You just had of like the earmuffs thing didn't bother me.
I don't understand how she heard the lightsabers,
but I still,
I didn't,
I loved that last episode.
I really enjoyed this episode.
I really enjoyed it a lot.
The one thing that drove me nuts inside of my reaction,
I think you're going to say what I said.
Ezra.
Yep.
It's good to see you.
It's great to see you too.
Let me ask you a question.
How did you get here?
How'd you find me?
I'll talk about it later.
What are we talking about?
Hold on.
So I watched that.
And again,
I found out where my thing for Sabine came from.
Because I met Sabine,
the first episode of Rebels.
I watched the first four or five
because I was on far, far away podcast.
And she was just a different character.
Again, she grows as a character.
But this is like, hey, you sacrificed
the galaxy of finding Thrawn.
Remember we talked about this
because you were like,
you wouldn't do this for Shannon,
or your best friend?
And I was like, no.
So here you did it.
You just standing.
Hey.
Hey.
Hey. I knew you'd find me.
She didn't see.
Run up and hug the fuck.
Hog him.
Kiss him.
Right.
Not on the lip, like a friend, like, that's not her, that's not her, that's a director's, that's a director.
But still.
Yeah, but I, I don't even know the characters and I know as an actor.
I'd be on side of like, hey man, it should have been, I should be running a hug, I should be running and jumping on this guy or he should be running to me and we should be having this big embrace.
It should be, it should have been more.
It should have been more emotional moment.
Oh my God.
It's just like.
Well, like, because it was like this whole.
Right.
It was.
Oh.
That didn't, I mean, yeah.
Yes, it's wrong.
I agree.
But the thing that drove me nuts more so was like, like, how did you find me?
Well, yeah, the guy that you got here in the first place, he's still good, and he's got a lot of stormtroopers, and they're going to try to go destroy our galaxy.
But I don't even tell you that right now.
We'll talk about later.
What are you talking about?
Like, I don't know Clone Wars and Rebels, but I'm like, this is not, something's going on.
This is wrong.
Right, but, okay.
All right.
So, anyway, so the, let's just jump right into six, because.
Let's get into six.
I actually really enjoyed this episode a lot.
Okay.
I thought that when the fact that it started out, Ossogatano is with Hu Yang.
they're going through and the opening of
those stories and tell me one of those stories and how
it establishes more of that relationship between the two
of them. I like that a lot and it was funny because at one point I'm like I want to
hear the story. She doesn't want to hear the stories or not. I want to hear the stories.
And then I don't know how I feel about
in the galaxy far, far away. I didn't know if it was a little on the nose.
I think. But I feel like it was a nice little kind of like
DJ and Woodbred, you know DJ right? Of course. You had it about it on here recently.
Yeah, I don't want to hear this. He had a great tweet about it. So kind of Star Wars is
its own thing, like it's,
legends within the legends thing.
It's like, that was a,
I know people loved that moment,
because I saw the tweets about it,
but I was just like,
yeah,
kind of,
take us.
My reaction was like,
was a little on the nose,
but,
but the story beat itself
of the fact that they're trying to get there
with the Pergles,
I thought it was great.
It was definitely,
absolutely,
the pergals were awesome.
I know I gave crap for that
back in Bobo,
but seeing that,
and although I will say this,
all the ships are coming up.
Or Mandalorian season three,
I think is Mandoz three,
but they were just flying
and they just saw in the clouds.
Yeah.
But the cruisers are coming as like,
oh, we got to get out of the way.
Yeah.
And they didn't.
They just sat there.
It's like, no, the pergles went around you.
You're fine.
Some choices in the directing of these episodes is just not.
You're not questioning certain things in Star Wars.
It is the clear choices of someone who's used to animation.
I really do.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
I think so.
And that's why it doesn't really bother me.
and I think it's a point that you made earlier
was that Rebels fans might accept this show more so,
but I will say it.
There's a lot of people that aren't Rebels fans
that are really loving this show.
Hey, great.
But to me, the music is still...
Hands down.
It's the best.
This was the first...
I know a lot of people, I think it was last episode
really talked about Assoc's theme and stuff,
but this episode, I don't know because there was so many quiet moments,
I was like, damn, he is killing it with this.
He really is.
I say it, I've said it to you many times over.
he, if he's available,
he should be the only person doing movies,
doing TV shows,
he gets it.
What about Ludwig?
Ludwig's themes were great,
because he came up with an original theme
for Mandalorian,
and does it sound Star Wars?
Of course it does.
But in episode five,
the one when they actually used
the Force theme for a split second,
but it was subtle,
and it was just like, it's so beautiful.
And he does this so many times
in this episode where it's like,
this episode felt like a mixture
of Spielberg and mixed with John Williams stuff in there too.
And like there's just certain things.
And there's like they have done homages to the original trilogy
and some of the prequel trilogy too,
but a lot of the original trilogy, right?
There was definitely Return of the Jedi feel in this one
with like those little turtle creatures
that felt like the Ewox.
You know, that particular moment.
There is a lot of different stuff
and there was stuff that happened in the last one
that felt like empire.
So there's been stuff that in the first episode
that felt like new hope, but not in a way that it was like,
oh, JJ's got another death star now.
Like, not that stuff.
Like little things like, oh, that's a little, again, tip of the cap.
And I love that about this episode for sure.
What I really dug, and this is, again, one of the character choices I didn't love about Sabine,
she gets there and she's like, we had a deal.
You are by yourself on a ship with villains and one blonde-haired villain that wants to slice your head off.
Keep it quiet.
Like, shut your mouth.
For real, like, figure out your plan.
Figure out your plan to escape.
Figure out what you're going to do to get out of there and find Ezra.
Ask questions when need be.
But don't touch it.
She's with the witches.
And they're going, stinks like Jedi or whatever it doesn't.
And they got her in this thing.
She's in this, who knows what it is.
And she's like, we had a deal.
And it's like, they could throw you off a cliff.
It's weird because she is like that.
But then when I see her in battle, she's so competent.
She's a Mandalorian.
So I'm just kind of like, where is the, I don't.
don't, it's the, you know what it was?
Someone said it pretty well.
Up until this episode, I thought Sabine was one of the best, I was on board.
This episode, a couple things that she did, I was like, oh, because someone made a point
where they were like, she is acting like the Sabine in the first season, the first two seasons
of Rebels, and that's when she was a teenager.
She's, she's mid-20s, almost 30 at this point, and she's still acting that particular
way.
How old is Ezra supposed to be?
They're around the same age.
Okay, okay.
Because he's in his 30s.
He's Luke's age.
He's Luke's age.
Okay.
Yeah, they're around the same age.
Okay.
All right.
So either way, what happens is they go, they get to this new planet.
Yeah.
And when they, this was Baylon's episode, the minus the, minus the throne stuff, which we'll talk about.
But Baylon, all the stuff that was going on with Baylon with a, like, we learned a little bit more about how he's trying to rebuild his own.
What is he hearing?
What is it?
What's calling him?
That, to me, was the most fascinating.
I love that.
He's like something's going to.
He's dead, though.
You know that, right.
He's going to die.
He ain't sticking on.
Obviously, you're talking.
Well, clearly, but I know what you mean.
You mean, you mean the character is, is he ain't survived.
You think that, you, you text me last night.
You think, so our biggest concern in the beginning of this.
Of any Star Wars show.
Star Wars show, Star Wars movie, what they do over and over and over again,
what they do doing more so with the female characters is recently,
if you get a female character that's bad, chances are she going to be good.
And not even just female characters, too.
They did with Kylo Ren as soon as Kyle O'Renn was like,
you know, he's turning good.
You know that so-and-so's turning good.
There's always somebody who turns good.
It's like someone's a little's redemption.
It's like, yeah, but when it keeps happening,
it just becomes repetitive.
And I said, well, and I don't mind,
I guess I don't mind if the motivation is there
and it really makes sense that they turn good.
I didn't buy the Riva turn.
I didn't buy the Kylo turn.
Now, I would buy a Baylon turn.
The way that they've set it up thus far.
We've talked about that.
Like, Baylon makes sense.
I would, but they have.
Because he was never fully bad for the beginning.
You saw him towing that line.
He's got it.
He's got like, he doesn't, there's something about it.
You learn more about it in this episode.
He has this thing for the Jedi.
They even said you had like a love for Jedi.
He's like, I like the idea of it.
Yeah.
And I thought it was so fascinating.
But we learned, we learned the idea of what Baylon was all about and where he came from
and that he was a Jedi when 66 went down.
And like, you know, whatever the hell happened to him when he was on the run and decided to
do these things and we learned more about like when he's talked about how
Ezra was trained off the grid like a lot of these different Jedi after it yeah all that
stuff to me was fascinating and I loved what they did there and I really like kind of the
depth of it so do you so you texted me though you think because I I started to turn a
little bit and say maybe she won't turn um good because she's looking pretty she's given she's
mean mugging everybody she like she looked like she wanted to kill Sabine there she was
always the one I was like she's going to kill Baylon
She is going to, but now there was that one exchange with Thrawn were about, like, they were going to renege on the deal with Sabine.
Yeah.
And she did, she said something or gave a look as like, she's going to turn.
She's going to save Sabine.
And then she'll probably die.
Like, she's, she's getting, I didn't see that.
A redemption arc.
She's something, or not an arc, but she's changing.
And I was like, I really hope not.
Come on.
And the other thing, there are two, the two things I was hoping wasn't going to happen was that.
Yeah.
And the other thing, I was like, oh, they're going to do it.
And I didn't do it again.
and I love it,
they,
Sabine,
when she's in the cell,
and she starts to use the force.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
And I'm like, here we go.
I'm like, okay,
she's going to use the force now
and she finally figured out
how to do it.
I'm telling you,
she'd be more like Charit Mway,
and she just kind of can tune into it.
She understands it,
but she can't use it.
That, to me, would be the best.
So she starts to use it,
and it starts to rattle.
And then the ship cops in.
But before we can get to the ship,
before anything else,
I do want to tell you guys,
we have a new sponsor
that I've talked about this week.
Let me tell you a little bit
about fume. Here we go. All right guys. This episode is sponsored by fume. Bad habits, man.
A lot of people have bad, bad habits, and bad habits can really kick your ass, and they can
mess with your health. They really can set you back. I've seen it, been around it, and I know.
And when you see this, the first thing you go, what is that? The first thing you should know is,
that's not a vapen. It's not electronic. It's natural. That's why I'm on board in the
first place. What is it then? It's a device. And it helps you quit nasty habits,
and that's why I was on board right away when they reached out.
At first, I'm not going to lie.
I was skeptical.
I didn't know.
I was like, I don't know.
That's not really my thing.
It's like, wait a minute.
You're not breathing in nasty chemicals with this.
And what it is, it's a legit, it's just fresh air.
It's natural air.
It is flavored air.
That's it.
You heard me.
Air.
And it flavors.
It is a great way to replace nasty habits.
There is no nasty chemicals, none of the stuff that creates bad habits.
And that to me was like, oh, wait,
a minute. So you can actually turn a bad habit and you just make it a good habit because it ain't
messing you up and it ain't hurting you. Because I said, wait a minute, flavored air. And I said,
it just feels fresh. They sent me one of them. And I said, okay, great, cool. It's pretty well-weighted.
It's perfectly balanced and it's very easy to fidget with. Stopping is something that everybody

So before we get into Thron, the witches.
Now the witches of Dathamere was a big Clone Wars thing.
It was, I think they mentioned them a little bit in Rebels,
I'm not sure, but more so in like comic books and definitely Clone Wars.
seeing the man it was like that 300 scene you know in the beginning with like the whispers and the witches were like what they remind me of what
you ever see the original clash of the titans yes the three witches yes with like the eyeball in the water 100% that's what I was actually that and it felt I
I love but how about the but how about the whisper the whisper you want to talk about yeah you want to talk about
not mimicking star wars but going after the homage is yeah
Ray Harryhausen, the old
Minotaur and Sinbad and all that stuff.
That's what that's from.
And I love it.
And that's why it works.
You like the witch stuff?
Oh, it's great.
I mean, it's a different thing to Star Wars
because we're so used to the Force and this.
And they used the Force too.
But here it is this kind of outside thing.
And it's just done so well.
Yeah.
I'm on board.
I love that.
When they had that, like, the whispers and the,
I was like, wow, this is,
it was really creepy or shot well.
and then they
but they still
they set it up in a way
where they're like
it's
the way that they set up
throng this entire season
was masterful
I mean
yeah they did a nice
in the idea like
when he finally shows up
it was like a wrestling entrance
and and the idea
that like this guy
the witches bowed down
to this guy
like Morgan's bowing down to him
like the
the bailin
and what I was
I was a preface his name
Shin
Shin thank you
Shin Hatty
yeah
And Chin is like, and she's fantastic, by the way, so I need to reckon, remember her name.
But they're all like in awe of this guy, and they set it up so well.
And his theme was, was maniacal.
It was great.
This was, yeah, this perked me up in the episode.
When he showed up?
Yeah, because I was, again, I'm trying to, you know.
But so far everything that we've talked about leading up to that, you like the witches.
I liked them.
You like the pergels.
But it was just, I want to say, and this is a criticism across the board for the show.
it's just so dark.
The color palette.
Like whatever they did, this is the...
It's dreary, man. It's a dreary time.
This Star Wars is all part of Star, it's the same thing.
It's not like, you know, the Batman versus...
Superman?
Justice League.
It's all in the same world.
So all of that, even the Obi-1 stuff, even Andor, is still like bright and you...
Andrew's not bright? What are you talking about?
Dude, the scene with the starship at the end where they got to go through the fireworks thing,
The majority of the village, what are you talking about?
If you took a screenshot from Andor and a screenshot from this,
it's like you took a gray color palette over,
it's a color correction thing in post-production that they're doing.
That's a choice that I don't understand.
Don't brag.
Because they've got so much good, Thrawn himself should pop.
And it's just kind of all of a muted gray.
Again, it's a choice that they've made for that show.
It doesn't work for me.
But that doesn't take away from the show itself.
But the story side of it, everything we've talked about thus far leading up to
when he shows up, man, because like I said,
They go into the, they have this deal.
I like that Baylon's honoring his word and said that he's going to honor his word to Sabine.
Morgan even says you're going to honor your word.
He's like, you know, we'll figure this out.
He's got a plan.
Yeah. Thrawn's got a plan.
But when they, the introduction of Thron, hold on a second.
I didn't say a damn word.
You're about to them.
No, shut your mouth.
You just, that's, that should be a shirt that I wear every time you're on this show.
But when they, she starts to use the force, the rattle happens.
And people are going to ask the question that haven't seen rebels, right?
It's like, well, how did he get that cruiser?
How did he get the stormtroopers?
Well, they were on it, on the ship, when it got transported out with Ezra.
So did you have that question?
No.
I just, I figured it's an imperial cruiser.
They got him laying around somewhere, so he's a...
It looked a little beat up.
It was all beat up.
That's because it came from that time when they were...
Yeah.
And he's got all...
But then how about golden-faced Magoo?
Let me tell you something.
Can I talk now?
Can I talk now?
Well, you're going to...
I see this guy show up.
Yeah.
And I'm like, holy, who the hell is this?
And instantly I'm like, oh, he's in rebels.
He's in Clon Wars.
I looked him up.
This is his first time he's in there.
That's what I'm talking about with Star Wars.
And let me tell you something.
I'm going to call anyone out, don't make some theory.
This isn't Canaan resurrected.
This isn't some...
Were people saying that?
Oh, you know it's going to go nuts like Morocco and whatever.
No, it's just a badass character.
Faloneo is probably like, I need a stormtrooper leader.
With a golden face.
You know, concept design artist.
Give me what you got.
And he goes, that's awesome.
Yeah.
That mask, holy crap.
I don't want him.
And he was badass.
He says, like, here's some rations.
Here's this.
Here's your mount.
Go.
We're leaving.
You got to be here if we're not.
Yeah.
Don't take his mask off.
It's not some, ever.
It's not a fallen, it's not a fallen, it's not a spy for the Republic in there.
Just a badass with a cool mask.
Just a badass.
Leave it.
Because he's awesome.
That guy is awesome.
Fuck, man.
Golden Face with him.
Two seconds.
Two seconds.
He's on board with this guy.
And I'm like, I'm on board with this guy.
And his voice was cool.
Oh, man.
His voice was cool.
And it's amazing how.
It's amazing how.
And the other thing, though, too, this is a point where we jump back and forth here.
Why, I've always said, it is so crucial to have alien voices for creatures in order to not make them.
Like, I don't know what you feel about the turtle creatures.
But, okay, fine.
You would have hated them if they had, if they were speaking basic.
Of course I would.
They were like, hey, we know exactly where it is.
Oh, you got that symbol on your jacket there.
What's that? What's that? Who's that?
Are they tried to make it cute with like English?
It's like they finally just went straight.
And there was no subtitles that didn't really understand it.
That made those things so much more valid to me because I'm like, okay, even though they're little creatures and they're basically the rock creatures from frozen.
But like when those things popped up and they're talking alien, I'm like, okay.
I'm like great.
Like as opposed to like when you have like one of these alien creatures, hey, what's going on?
Even in Andor.
Where you going?
We got you here.
Right.
And it's like just, it's always better when you can.
Much better.
That's awesome.
But anyway, as we, Thron, though, when Thrawn shows up, dude, that music again by Kiner, the stormtroopers, for some reason, I don't know, maybe it's because they're so beaten down.
Crap.
That's the most devastating I've seen Stormtroopers look so far.
We're on the same page, finally.
Okay.
I saw those and I was like,
oh, these aren't cannon fodder
that are going to be bumbling idiots.
These are like badass.
They are there.
That's a whole squad of like, all right,
we're,
you know,
they're going to be able to shoot straight.
Like,
yeah,
that was that whole,
his whole walk.
Everything.
That little strut that he does.
Because remember how Hyde said like,
it's like,
man,
they got to build up this guy.
He's got to be like the shark and jaws.
Thanos,
man.
It played real well.
That,
that played great,
the little strut that he makes all the way through.
And he never,
this is what makes strong.
so great. And from the Zon books when we
grew up, never loses as
cool. And he's
got a plan. Even when Sabine
starts to, he's like, no need to get hostile.
And he's just, that voice. And Lars Mikkelson
did a great job. I was one of the guys
when people were suggesting for live action.
I just like, no, no, no, he's the voice. But
watching him, I'm like, he does stuff with his
eyes. And he says so much without
saying so much, that's a sign
of a fantastic actor to me. And so he
saw people taking shots at his body going. He's
got a dad body. I'm like, Thron's
in his... I did notice that. I was like,
Who cares? But I don't...
I don't care. It's this.
He's not, he's not throwing hands. He's
using his brain, man. Who cares? He's sitting back eating
pizza and making up decisions. Who gives you shit?
I get the
criticism. Yeah. It was the same thing
with Bobo when we first saw him. It was one of those
things, Tumor Morrison, I think they wanted him, and
he's like, I don't got time to get in shape, guys.
And then by the end of it, the next time we saw him, he's like, oh, yeah,
there we, you shaped him up a little better.
Maybe he sees these. It could be one of those ones.
And he probably went to.
getting in better shape as the show goes.
Yeah, and that's life. It didn't bother me.
It didn't bother me at all. Because I could care less
if he was. You couldn't care less.
But my question, well, if you could care less,
you want your grammar police? No, it just doesn't make any sense.
I could care less. Well, you do. Go sit over there. When you can't care less,
anymore, come back over. I can't care less. There you go.
And here I am. Much better. So, so he has this conversation
where he's, you see, because you need to know right away
if you're not familiar with Thrawn.
The music can set you up, like, uh-oh.
Look at all these badass stormtroopers.
Look at all these people.
I'm scared, but why am I really scared?
And then he starts talking.
And you're like, well, it's like,
they always talk about like the father that when you're in the road trip
and you're farting around in the backseat,
the father turns around and he screams and he goes,
oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
You're like, all right, I got pissed, okay, fine.
But it's the father that turns around and goes,
if you don't stop
there's going to be consequences
that guy scares the shit out of you
okay and that's what
Thrawn was doing where this is
like the certain conversations and where
Morgan says to him at one point
shouldn't we send more he's like well we've depleted
all true and he's like
so that wouldn't be a good decision or whatever
two's enough whatever two's enough and it's like
oh like you're like you just want
he's got a win though he's got to win
I love the whole exchange with like
so
Osso Tano is not dead.
Well, we're going to assume she's not dead until we find otherwise.
Right. That hole was like, oh, and then when he says like, and she's just like, I'm on top.
And he's like, do the, he's like, find out who she is, who her master is, who this.
And it's like, oh, he wants to up, because he knows Anakin.
He knows, he knows, he knows, like, Darth Vader.
He knows the whole thing.
And Osok and him have never.
I don't think they've ever, no, because I think she came to the world from worlds.
I was trying to remember it because, like, no, I don't think they've ever faced off.
But the rebels crew knows her.
him. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Asra, Sabina,
he knew him, and he's like, Sabine Ren, there's
a name that I have, a very familiar name
or whatever he says.
But like all of that, like, just every time
he talked, you're just like, your
intention. The reason I say, he's got a win, though,
because I was mentioning this like Thanos
as we, like, the reason why
Thanos was so devastating, he had a lot of
wins, whether it was
killing Loki, whether it was, you know,
hit a lot of, I mean, they had to go back in time
in order to beat him. Like, he did win.
He did. He won. So,
So, Fron's got to win.
You can't beat him at the end of this show.
If you beat him at the end of this show...
No, I forgot I was talking to you as well, but like this...
We got two episodes left, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, 7 and 8, yeah.
So clearly we're not getting to the end game here.
No, because season two...
If season two happens plus the movie...
So there's going to be a season two and then the movie?
The rumor is, there's nothing...
There's nothing concrete yet.
The rumor is they're trying to do Mandalorian season four,
which potentially could be a movie, which was a rumor,
which I think would be silly.
I think you'd just try to find a...
way to do season four. I understand why, because they do the writer strike and the strike, and they want to
try to get it out, but potentially season four or something in the Mandalorian universe,
skeleton crew. That's not coming out this year. That'll probably be next year. So those, and then
Osaka's season two, potentially what the rumor was, what I heard, was it dependent on how the audience
responded and what the ratings were like. Both of those seems to be doing pretty good. So it's the first,
what we can agree with, it's the first water cooler Star Wars we've had since Mandalorian season two.
But is it water cooler for the Star Wars fans, or is it water cooler for the general audience?
Mandalorian transcended the Star Wars fandom and became kind of with Grogu and everything.
That became general audience water cooler.
What was the biggest moment of Mandalorian that everybody was talking about?
Luke showing up.
Anakin was pretty big.
Anakin was pretty big.
Was it as big as Luke?
I don't know.
But Anakin, well, then why wasn't an Anakin the biggest thing for Obi-1 series?
because he was there.
It was done...
Because of the relationship
between the two,
which general audiences don't know.
I know, but it was done differently to us.
I disagree.
All right, fine, but you smell.
So there was...
Your step listens to this show.
Did you know that?
Who does?
Steph.
She put a comment.
Who she?
I don't know anymore.
I don't know.
That's a name I haven't heard
a long time.
A long time.
Anyway,
so what were we talking about?
We're talking about
besides the water cooler moments,
but where do they come from?
Where it's building to the big thing.
Oh, yeah, the movie.
and this and that? Yeah, yeah. So the question is
what is the question? When the movie comes out, right now,
it's slated for
2016, like December 2016.
2016, we're going back in time. We're going back in time. We're all between worlds.
Jesus.
Wake up here! You should talk.
2026 is when it's supposed
to come out. That's also
a matter of whether or not
what's going to happen with the strike. Three years
does, if it ends, if the strike ends
hypothily. We're both in agreement January, February, right?
I was thinking October.
I thought they were, I thought, and this is just from what I'm, the emails and everything.
Okay.
I thought they were having a meeting this week. The writer side. The writers, not even the actors,
the writers. Right.
Because from what I understand, the studios will only negotiate with one union at a time.
Right. So, actors could keep going on longer.
But if the writers get off, I think that'll be a leeway, depending on what they
get. It'll be leeway to, it'll help
the actors, but also the writers will be able to start
writing. So then once the strikers are
what would you say, when do you think it's going to
end right now? In your gut.
I'll go January just because, well,
I'll say the fall,
October, October, but because
once we start getting November, December, it's the
holiday. Shut your mouth. You just said January this
October. I've got to finish my sentence. You don't know how to finish a sentence.
Because I feel it could be
wrapped up then, but work will not commence because
Hollywood shuts down for November December.
Long went an answer to get to
January-ish. We'll be back. January will be back to work.
Okay. So January.
Back to work, not the end of the strike.
That was a road.
Shut your mouth.
So January, let's say hypothetically, January is when this strike ends.
Yeah.
So they start writing again. They start getting things to production.
We get this Ray movie, start shooting in like,
they already say it's ready to go between March and April.
So they could still be on track to get that movie out by May 2026 when it's scheduled to.
That's possible.
Now, the Flonie thing, the movie itself,
Sure, they can get that done, but the question is the lead-up getting there to tell the story they want to tell in order to get there.
Now, would they be able to get Mandalorian season four, whatever it might be?
Could you get it out in 2024? Probably not. Could you get out in early 2025?
Possibly. Skeleton crew, you can get out in 2024 because it's pretty much done.
So then you would have to get Asoka. You'd have to get Asoka written and shot by 2026 to lead into the actual movie.
It's possible to get all that done.
So, Faloni's movie.
is going to be
Asoka
and Mandalorian
and Skeleton crew
Skeleton crew is in his movie too
and you
were gonna
so what's going to happen
so the end of episode 8
of this season of Assoca
does not go right into the movie
there's going to be a whole other season
of at least Mandalorian
Mandalorian was already written
but will there be another season of Asoka
the rumor is again
if it did well they said
season two but I don't think they were taking
it account.
You can't base, hey this is the story
we're telling off of how good one's going to do.
You need to know what your story is going to be.
Not necessarily if he know what the story is and you're like, okay, well, I definitely
know that if this does well, I got season two planned out.
If not, if it doesn't do well, then I'm going to have to condense that into the movie
in the beginning of the movie.
That sounds like a...
It's a lot.
It's an undertaking.
There's no doubt about it.
I just think that the question at hand is, is there enough time, let's say, Osco's
season two, skeleton crew, Mandalorian season four.
Hypothetically, is there enough time to get it all done?
And if the writer strike and sack strike ends by January, there is a lot of time.
There's enough time.
I think so. There's enough time, but it's go time.
And you got to stop doing all this other stuff.
It was like, so what?
So we even talk about this.
The Lando show is now a movie.
I know.
I know.
What are you doing?
I don't know, dude.
It's like, what are you doing?
When does that come out?
What's tough is because Filoni's got to be over all of it.
He can't just go, all right, right, write that show, write that show, right show.
I'm focusing on the movie.
This is where we're going.
He's the shepherd of it all.
So it's like, but if anyone could do it, I think it's him.
Well, but he's a shepherd of Asoka.
I had a text from a buddy yesterday who was like, well, when did Floreau take over all of it?
Is it just Favro just sitting back?
I was like, Favro's not sitting back at all.
Favro's in charge of Mandalorian.
Yeah.
Favro's in charge of Skelton crew.
People keep saying this thing where they're like.
He's a producer on all of them, I think.
Well, I don't think he's, I think he's a producer.
He's got to be.
He's not very, I mean, he's not, he's about as involved in Asoka as Faloni was involved
the Mandalorian season three. People keep saying about being producers because you get them.
I know, people keep saying, hey man, like, Flonny was around, Flonnie was in a shot.
Guys, think about it logically. This guy is writing and directing two or three episodes of
Osoka. He wrote the whole season of Asoka. When do you think he did that? When they were shooting
Mandalorian, most likely, there's no world, I'm not telling you that he wasn't available for phone calls
are on set here and there.
There's a reason why they brought Rick Famuania
into the producing side
of Mandelaarine's season three.
Because Dave's busy working on Asoka.
He wasn't involved very heavily,
and I think it showed in Mandalorian season three.
That's my opinion.
Now, when it comes to coordinating the story,
of course he's coordinating the story
and helping, he's not just like,
okay, I'm working on Asoka,
you guys figure out whatever you want to figure out.
I don't think he had anything to do with Andor at all.
I don't think he was an advisor on Indoor.
I think he had nothing to do with the endor.
Nothing at all.
But I think that,
he is definitely him and Favro.
I think that Favreau should absolutely be a producer on the movie.
I think Fuloni needs it.
I think Fuloni's going to need somebody because Fuloni is, as we mentioned before,
you can see the animation on his episodes.
You can see them there.
That works on TV for me.
Clearly it doesn't work for you,
but I don't know if it's going to work overall with movies.
Unless you have like, you know, you get like a DP though.
He needs like a really good DP,
like somebody who's been around for like a long time to go like a deacons,
you know, and go like, hey,
Let's try this shot.
Let's do this shot instead.
Let's try to do that.
How about this?
I mean, maybe.
Someone that he'll go, okay.
That could be, I was chalking up a lot of my man,
Asoka feels weird to me for that it was all pretty much with a volume.
So you don't have as much room to walk.
Right.
So that's why everything's kind of static and slow.
Maybe it is his, a directing of animation as opposed to live action where the director,
we've got to move him.
We got to create some.
Let's try something a little fresh.
Here's the thing for me, and I use this example.
and again, you could love or hate the movie.
The opening of the Flash with the Bat Cycle Chase,
it was so kinetic the way it was shot.
Whether you like the sequence or not,
it was very kinetic and you felt in it.
Like, I don't feel a kineticness,
even in the space battles in Asoka,
whereas maybe that isn't it directing animation
versus directing live actioning?
I don't know, I can't speak to that at all,
but it's just, I need that kinetic feeling
that Star Wars does have a kineticness to it.
You know what is interesting about this, though?
The first two episodes for you,
you liked a lot.
And then three, four, five, and even six, you were on the fence about.
I wonder, because you're a movie guy, right?
You saw those first two episodes on a big screen.
Yeah, that's true.
I wonder if that had a lot to do with it.
Maybe.
Because I will tell you this, because before we went and we saw the screening,
I had said to you, because I just got in the screening links for those two episodes.
And I was like, oh, I could have said it at home and watches,
and now I'm stuck in this beautiful theater eating popcorn and soda.
Oh, this is crap.
How long of a drive is that?
at 6 o'clock from here to there.
Not very long for me, because I live right over the hill.
That's why I said here to there, dumbass.
I don't care about you.
Yeah, I got to drive it every day to come here for this thing every week.
I got to drive an hour.
I drive.
The point is eight miles. It takes me an hour to give here.
Listen, Dildo Face.
So the reason why, again, from driving over, getting there, sitting down,
but you said you're watching the movie theater.
And then by the end of it, I was like, I'm so glad I said.
The Kempiner's scoring this year.
Shut up.
And I'm looking at the screen.
And I'm going, it is pretty great to see a Star Wars movie again, even though it's a TV show.
And it looked great.
It sounded great in the theater, all these different things.
And I was like, oh, man, hey, I made me miss it seeing it in movies as adamant and it's been that you get more time to build with characters.
I still stand my building.
See, Obi-Wan should have been a movie.
I don't agree.
I just think you should have been better written.
But overall, there are times that Star Wars should be on the big screen, but I wonder if that had an effect on you because there's,
first two really did pop on the big screen.
But I did remember feeling, though, about those.
I was like, man, they're really slow in the delivery of the lines.
Even the first two.
First two, yeah.
Someone had said it, they said, everyone is so stoic.
And I was like, I don't, I agree with their observation.
I don't think it's, that they're stoic.
I think it was like, we're just talking so damn, and everyone's moving so slow.
I don't know.
Who knows?
So we will get into talking about the big reveal of the fact that Sabine finds Azra and
just the idea also of what Thrawn said.
and how he was going to do it
and honoring his word, all that and more.
But before we even do that,
I wanted to tell you guys about our sponsors,
both Rumple and AG1.
Let me tell you about both of them right now.
I get to talk about Rumpel again.
You guys know I love talking about Rumpel.
Rumpel was like Christmas for me the second they sent it.
Why is Rumpel so special?
Well, they're on a mission to introduce the world to better blankets,
and they've done it.
They're made with a durable, sustainable material,
and they're built to last.
They have so many great things about,
them. They are built to endure the elements. The blankets are made with durable materials that
repel spill, sand, stains, odor, no matter where you bring it, if it gets dirty, you throw it in the
washing machine. The original Puffy blanket is Rumpel's number one bestseller with over a million
sold. I have one of these things, and I swear by it. With over 135 unique designs, there's a
blanket for everyone. Now Rumble blankets are not just for the outdoors. They're perfect for,
you can watch a movie on the couch, kick back, in bed, or bring with your local theater.
I have a bunch of different ones.
I have one that I take with me when I'm out to watch my daughter's soccer game.
I hope if we're going to the park and having a picnic.
But I also have one that I mentioned, I curled up on the couch, fell asleep with it because it's so comfortable.
People are always fighting for these things in my house.
I've got to get more.
Rumpel also has a huge selection of indoor styles.
They have the cozy hemp.
They have the fleece.
They have the Sherper.
All of it with responsibly sourced materials that they're made from super cozy, perfect.
For my listeners, go to rumple.com.

rumple.com slash the big thing. I promise you that this will be the one that you say,
I'm so glad I finally listened to you. I got a rumple blanket. And do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.
I can't go a day without talking about AG1. And I'm not talking about you guys. I talk to all my friends about it.
I talk to my family about it. I love AG1. I wake up in the morning. The first thing I do is I have this zoo

I put AG1 in there, and I gave it a try a long time ago because Brett Sheridan wouldn't be quiet about it, and he was right.
He was absolutely right.
I drink it right away.
I drink it right before my coffee, and I'm just ready to go.
I just know that when I'm taking it, I'm like this, it feels good.
I'm not a big vitamins guy where I'm taking 87 vitamins throughout the day.
I take it all in one shot.
I put it in the cup, and I'm feeling good.
My sweep, my sweep, I sweep, I sweep the floor, and then I take the AG1.
My sleep quality is doing good because of AG1.
Since I've been drinking it, I really have noticed
and overall just kind of like a new pep in my step.

put the first comment is the pin comment.
So please go ahead, check that out.
All right, moving on.
So Thron basically tells Sabine,
beat it.
Go ahead, take the rat wolf and get out of here.
And she does.
Rat wolf.
And she takes the rat wolf.
And I like that robert.
A dog.
Why is Sabine yelling at the rat wolf?
The rat wolf doesn't know her.
And the things come out and start, what's the rat wolf going to do?
And he leaves.
She's like, you left me.
He's like, I don't know.
Who are you?
you've been riding on my back
bust my bump here
yeah I'm believing
that was the other thing
that one of the criticisms
I did have for the episode
was the fact that like
Thrawn says
you know
there are a lot of marauders out there
so your friend could be dead
those bumbling idiots
that's all we're going to worry about
she took out five of them
I think everyone was going to be okay
and it's like
I wanted to see a little bit more
terror out there
like a little bit more like
because that was where
there was a comparison in episode four right
like Luke goes out
the tussein ratings come out
But she takes care of these five of them pretty easy.
She gets shot 87 times.
It's like these things, shoot for the head.
They keep hitting her in the things.
Like, that's not working.
Star Wars.
Yeah, but I know.
It didn't bother me.
I'm just saying the actual side of it.
I just, they set it up like there was just going to be this terrorizing thing happening.
And it's like, well, if she can take out five of them, she's not even a trained Jedi,
the course Azra's alive.
Like, why wouldn't he be alive?
Yeah, I see you're saying.
Yeah.
And then, so she has a relationship with the rat wolf.
and I just thought was a cute moment.
It worked pretty well.
It's kind of like the Chewbacca type thing.
And then they find the turtle people.
And at first I'm like, what am I going on?
What the hell I eat?
I'm like, I hate these things.
And then they start talking an alien language.
I'm like, I'm on board.
I'm on board because they're talking alien language.
They have the rebel cyst symbol.
They, oh, don't know what I'm like, great.
But to your point of what I do think that this show,
what I was happy about, it's a 45 minute episode,
46, great.
I think five of those minutes
could have been shaved off of watching the turtles
cook pasta, and instead of that,
give me a little bit more dialogue.
Like, there's a shot where she's walking
through the village. It's like, hey, look at me.
I'm watching ESPN. Look at me.
I'm with my baby. Look at me.
It's like, we get it. It's a turtle village.
It's like, give me more.
I think that's just a matter of, they saw
what the production people came up with and were like,
oh, that's pretty awesome. We've got to put that in there.
It's awesome. And there's some guy that built that
that's like, Mom, Dad, that's what I built there.
my energy and they're like, oh my God, did you see his turtle that he built?
That's what that is.
As a person in the United States, it's like, the guy got his moment to show, and he's probably
got that all on his Instagram and his Facebook.
He's like, that's my puppetry right there.
And it's fantastic.
And it looked great and they sounded great.
Can you imagine if he did that and you got cut in the episode because they wanted to shave
a minute up because of chuckleheads like you?
I would have, wouldn't you rather seen an emotional hug with some more conversation?
I would have killed for a fucking hug.
Right.
It's like.
Something.
So, so they find, they find,
each other and here they go.
Here's the, here's the moment.
And it's like, hey, how you doing?
I'm doing all right.
How you doing?
I'm good.
Everything good.
Everything's good.
What are you up to?
I got a beer.
You?
You know, I'm here.
How'd you get here?
Don't worry about it.
You got to see my reaction on the, on the,
Hey, I sold us all out.
Thrawn's coming back because of me because I had to find you.
But we'll talk about that later.
I'm not even going to tell you.
Why?
I'm not even going to tell you that I ran in.
the Thrawn, the guy that you got here in the first place. I'm not going to tell you about that.
I'm not going to tell you that he might be right on my tail. So do we know why
Thrawn and Ezra are not in the same area? No. I mean, I guess he was able to, the bail,
all we know is that they were, they disappeared at the same time. So the show ended on a cliffhanger
then? But yeah, but they did, they did disappear on the same ship together.
Okay, so that we don't know how he escaped. We don't know how he escaped. No. And like
even the fact that, you know, they were tracking him and then having Baylon track him with Shin and
And then that whole moment of something's calling to him.
That was the stuff that I found that the most fascinating.
That, the intro of Thrawn, the villains, by the way, what I did say in the show when I stand
by it, these are the best villains in Star Wars that we've had in a very long time.
Who have been better villains?
I can't think of any that.
I think John Carlo was pretty good, but I still think he was.
But he was kind of, but by the time he came back in the third, the time we get to the third episode,
it was the third season.
It was just like they were just using him
because they didn't really have anybody else.
But I thought he was pretty damn good in that first one.
But I mean, the villains themselves,
they're layered.
And even though I love John Carlo,
by the time we got to the third season,
it was kind of like a mustache twirling villain.
Balin is layered, man.
Shin is dangerous.
Morgan, dangerous, Thrawn.
I mean, like, this is a crew I'm scared of.
Like, I think that, like, if they win,
I go, I understand why they can win.
They're working.
The stormtroopers look devastating.
right they're the same kind of fumbling morons that they've had for the whole time so these are the
I mean I'm talking even though even maybe Kylo Ren good villain for sure originally originally
but when he shows up I think Kylo Ren and these I don't know they to me they're the best
films we've had in Star Wars in a very long time okay did you agree yeah I I I you know
no I don't so I ask I'm just yeah but you know we didn't see much of them I mean
We saw a lot.
What are you talking about?
I'm just saying we didn't see what they would,
what they're capable of.
Not yet.
Yeah,
but we said,
is it going to be another.
But don't you think that they're set up?
The Imperial officer with his storm troopers driving a Death Star.
Who gets defeated,
right?
Right.
And that's why I said he needs a win.
Like he needs,
he's got to win.
We've heard of how great he is.
Gotta kill somebody.
He's got to kill somebody.
But I,
I enjoy the character.
Look at Thanos, man.
Thanos killed Idriselba.
Yeah.
Thanos killed Loki.
I mean,
Thanos killed everybody.
Yeah.
So, like, yeah,
Thanos was wiping people out left and right.
Thanos wiped out, I mean, killed Spider-Man, for God's sakes, until he had to come back.
So, Thanos killed everybody.
You've got to, he's got to take somebody out.
Probably take Ezra out, I would assume.
And what do we think, Ezra?
Did you like, I think that, like I said, when I saw him in the hologram, I was like, I don't know.
Like, as you were talking about, well, maybe you were talking about Hera, but like other people who'd watch rebels, there are certain people had problem with the Hera casting, certain people had problem with the Sabine casting.
I didn't have a problem with either one.
When I saw the hologram of Ezra, I was like, oh, man, I think meaning Massad would have been a better choice.
But I said to you also in that same thing, I don't know yet.
I got to see the guy actually act in person, and I'm on a hologram.
I thought he was pretty good.
I thought he was fine.
I don't think we've seen enough of him yet.
Plus, this is an argument that people were making before.
I think this is an older, kind of aged out, Ezra.
I got that.
Yeah, so I thought he was pretty good.
I got, because I had asked you, how old is he?
He's in his 30s, okay, because he didn't seem in his 20s.
I would say, I mean, well, at that point, he's probably like late 20s, right?
That's what Luke was in his late 20s?
A little old for that then.
He came off in his 30s to me.
Yeah, okay.
But what's Luke at that point?
Luke's probably close to like late 20s.
Well, he's 18 when we meet him in my hope, so.
19.
18.
18.1, one year.
You're like my girlfriend on that crap.
Well, I'm just telling you, you're talking about 28 to 30 is different.
Anyway, anyway.
Okay.
Anyway, for me, again, general audience member watching this, the whole show is her love of, or friendship
and love of Ezra and wanting to find him and the whole thing giving up in the map and all this.
And that was the reunion we got.
I'm sorry, man.
It just didn't.
It should have been a bigger.
Especially when you have Kevin Kiner doing what he's doing right now.
If you would have had that moment where Sabine...
Not even a tear was shed.
But that's what I mean.
If Sabine would have had the emotion just hit her at that point, he tears up.
Yeah.
They hug each other.
Like, it was this big moment that finally happened.
And then the Kevin Kiner music kind of swells up at that time.
that would have been a big moment, but yeah, it was kind of like,
let me ask you this.
Do they always assume he's alive?
After rebels, when he...
They don't know.
There's never a moment like he is dead.
He is alive.
No, they don't know what did that.
So that's why by the end, the last, the epilogue, they...
So it's almost one of those things in life where...
You ask me a question and you don't answer...
You didn't get to it fast enough.
You didn't get to it fast enough.
Go ahead.
Everything's fast, fast, fast.
So, Lucas.
Okay, I'm thinking of the story in real life where if a child or someone,
or a friend goes missing
and they're presumed dead.
You can move on with your life.
Right.
And people move on.
But if there's still hope that my friend
is still out there alive,
you hope,
I would think that the reunion of that,
like,
I saw all the reactions of,
I cried, I cried,
I'd have talked about this moment.
It'd be great if the character
showed that emotion
that everyone felt,
and I think people are so invested
with their history as an outside
general audience from watching this.
I'm like,
oh, the buildup,
I don't know the history of them,
but I know through the script
that these two have had such a wonderful relationship.
You needed something bigger than...
Like, show me a non-Rebels guy.
That, I mean, saying in your point of view,
show me as a non-rebels guy,
how connected these two are
and with one scene with a hug and some cheering,
oh, I get it.
Like, yeah, no, I understand that.
I think, and it's because I know the show
that I was like, okay,
it didn't bother me as much as you did,
although I understand the point.
This felt to me, again, not having watched it,
as of a couple people, friends
that haven't seen each other for a couple months.
Like they got lost.
Right.
It hasn't been like five years.
Has it been years.
Right.
It's been years.
Yeah.
You needed something bigger.
I get it.
Also like, you know, he's, I did like when he goes, I have a lot of questions.
Because in my head, I'm going, yeah, did we win the war?
What's going on?
Because when he left, it's like, oh, yeah, there's this guy Luke Skywalker who did this.
All this stuff happened.
This happened.
Like, I'm going to fill you in on everything.
I'll talk about it later.
Let's go get some turtles soon.
Or it should have been.
We'll talk about later.
It's like, no.
I want to see you.
Yeah.
I want to, I have to, forget that, let me just be with you for a little bit.
Right.
Forget the world.
Let's just, my best friend is here.
That's what we needed at that moment where she says, a little bit later.
Yeah, I can, I understand, I understand the point.
Thank you.
What do you guys think?
Did you think that that moment worked out?
Because like I said, for the most part, I really loved this episode.
I didn't have as many gripes as Mike did, but for me, there's a few things that I was like,
oh, that's interesting that they chose that, but I thought the Thron stuff was absolutely incredible.
I thought that the villains are just next level.
I love what they're doing with Baylon overall.
There's so much stuff that's really working.
The question is, now, is Baylon and Shin,
are they going to be working with these marauders?
It looks like you're the enemy of my enemy.
And then they're going to probably hunt them down.
There's going to be some kind of battle between,
because Ezra will probably be fighting with Sabine against those two.
It'll be two on two.
And you'll probably see...
Begat two Jedi against two Jedi.
Yeah, you're going to see Ezra versus Baylon.
That'd be kind of cool.
Yeah, and then Shinn will finally probably beat Shin,
because she's been kicking her ass the whole series.
Does Ezra have a lightsaber?
Yeah.
Well, that's a good question.
I didn't see one anywhere.
Well, the green one is his, unless he built.
I mean, I don't know.
Sabine's that she uses is his?
That's his.
Okay.
So he might have built one when he was.
Maybe, but where does he get a kiber crystal?
Who knows?
It's a good question.
If he shows up without a kre.
All right, we'll see if he gets a lightsaber.
How is you going to do?
Well, you've got to be able to.
That's what I mean, though.
Tell me about building a lightsaber more than the turtles making cassidias.
All right.
Once again, let's go.
let's go. I want to hear your thoughts. Please let me know. Before we get the hell out of here,
I do want to bring this up because Mike sent this to me. Yeah. It's an interesting stat because
let's talk about this, Taika Watiti story first, right? All right, so this is from our good friends
over at Star Wars Newsnet. Now, there's a couple different things. This story starts with updated,
despite rumors, Tychoa Titi, Star Wars movie is still active at Lucasfilm. More writers have contributed
to drafts of the script. I guess there is a script, even though he said there isn't. I don't know what's
happening with this movie. Rumors of the demise of Tycho Attiti Star Wars movie have been greatly
exaggerated. On Monday, World of Real shared a paywall patron post from industry insider, Daniel
RPK, where he said that the long-announced feature was dead and we can confirm that this is
not the case. One take news was first a report that the Star Wars movie was in development prior to the
WGA and SAG After Strikes and will continue on once they conclude. After OTN published their report,
we have also confirmed with a source that our story from last week where we argued that
Tycho Watiti's comments at the Toronto International Film Festival were a joke.
Well, that was accurate.
It was a joke.
The project is still alive at Lucasfilm, and Watiti should go back to work once the strike is over.
Drama over Watiti's movie resurfaced once more when he took the stage to present Sean Levy at an award at TIF and joke that he would never finish his Star Wars script.
You can watch the clip below.
All right, let's hear this audio real quick.
After he's had his way with that franchise,
like a cruel, indiscriminate virus,
he'll move on to another,
and another, and another,
and then eventually probably Star Wars.
And unlike me,
and it's like he manages to finish a script for that.
Now, oh, he's rough listening to sometimes.
Now, they said, they said,
they still think it's a,
they think it's a joke.
You think that's a joke?
No.
I think it was, I think it was a joke, but I think it was an accurate.
I think he's a joke when a joke is funny because it's real?
That's real.
That's, he's like, I ain't going to finish this damn thing.
Sorry.
I thought that, I mean.
No.
But let's let's finish.
So they took that as like, he's like, poking fun of like, I'll never finish it.
I'm going to finish it.
I guess.
Let's see.
The film.
He ain't finishing that script.
That's his.
The film was officially announced back in 2020.
As far as when Watiti, Wattiti is at in 2022.
Kathleen Kennedy has previously said that they are having a small delay.
in crafting the third act.
Now that's probably where it's probably true on both sides, right?
Like he said, if I ever finish the script.
So they probably have a script done.
They probably did finish a script,
but not a completed script.
So when he's saying that, when he's going,
well, you know, if I ever finish a script,
that means it ever getting signed off on.
That's where I think that that's more accurate.
But let's get back to what they were saying here.
Not helping the problem is his schedule,
which seems to be someone who bites off more than they can chew.
his next film, next goal wins, hits theater later this year.
Meanwhile, there's an off chance that the strike might be nearing its conclusion
with the writers in the AMPTP meeting once more today.
Wednesday, by the way.
Of course, even if a deal is made,
official work on finishing scripts won't resume immediately.
Earlier this year, a Deadlight Report said that Watiti wants to begin production
on his film in 2024.
According to Variety, the writer-director would have been in negotiations
with the studio earlier this year to star in the project as well.
That makes me nervous.
In any case, it isn't expected for Tyca's film to be taken up by any of the three dates.
Lucasfilm has set for Star Wars, two in 2020, 26, one in 2027.
After posting the story, we noticed that Jeff Snyder from above the line said on the Hotmic podcast with John Roka,
that Watiti has already turned in multiple drafts of the script, which we assume from Kathleen Kennedy and his own past comments
and that he owes them another one of the right, another one once the writers are allowed to go back to work,
which he also assumed.
Interesting enough, Snyder also said that other writers have contributed to the script,
though no names were mentioned.
Christy Wilson Carnes was initially announced to be co-writing the script,
but we assumed she was no longer attached after a vague comment from her after Kennedy said that
what T.D. is writing the script himself. All right, there's so much here.
He's writing himself, but we've got other writers involved, but this girl's get involved.
But I'm going to write it myself because I can't finish it.
This movie's not happening.
Now, can you imagine? Okay, so that's Tyke and coming in. I got a Star Wars story.
I'm going to write it myself.
okay, Kenny,
we gotta bring in some more writers.
We like what you got,
but we gotta punch up that third X.
Here's some more writers.
What Tidi is a kind of guy,
and that's where the money,
and his,
whether you love him or hate him,
because there's stuff I love his.
Yeah.
If he writes it himself,
directs himself,
and makes it his own thing.
And stars in it.
Stars in it.
It's gonna be,
but I can see where he would want to do that.
Of course.
But I can see with them going,
we can't have that.
We gotta,
like,
this movie's not happening.
Let me correct you.
I can see where they should say that.
I can see a world
where Kathleen Kennedy goes, that's a great idea.
I mean, that's what you did for Thor,
and look how it did.
It's like, did you see the last one?
Like, he didn't write Ragnarok.
He directed it.
He definitely had his spin on it.
He definitely had his flavor on it.
It was all over the damn thing.
But he wrote the last one.
He said, I'm just going to go Joke City USA.
And it was one of the worst Marvel movies ever.
It was terrible.
You're not wrong.
It's terrible.
And so then you've got this idea
Well, and then let's say hypothetically that he starts, he gets this thing done in 2024.
When does it come out?
When does it come out?
I don't know.
You know what they should do with this?
I'm asking you, though.
But if he starts filming in 2024, yeah?
They go, all right, let's now put it out in 2025.
Mistake number one.
That's your first Star Wars movie you come back with?
You can't be doing that.
You can't.
So that's part one.
Part two.
We already announced that Ray movie is coming out in May of 2026.
and Dave's movies coming out at the end of 2026,
and then Mangold's movies coming out in 2027.
Oh, Mangold's again, that's right.
Stop announcing movies.
Now, this is the point, this is the thing that someone had written.
I want to bring this thing up,
because this is a fascinating, fascinating stat.
I pulled this off of Twitter, check this stat out.
Started and completed, a Disney Star Wars movie.
J.J. Abrams, The Force Awakens,
Ryan Johnson, The Last Jedi.
It ends there.
Did not complete.
A Disney Star Wars movie.
Michael Arndt of Force Awakens,
replaced by J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasden.
Gareth Edwards, Rogue 1, written and reshot by Tony Gilroy.
Josh Trank, Boba Fett, canceled.
Lord Miller, solo, reshot by Ron Howard.
Colin Travaro, Episode 9, replaced by J.J. Abrams.
Ryan Johnson, untitled trilogy, shelved indefinitely.
Stephen Dalry, Obi-Wan Kenobi,
retooled for Disney.
James Mangold, BobaFett, canceled.
Benioff and Weiss, Untitled Jedi Prequel,
Canceled. I'm not even halfway done.
Patty Jenkins, Rogue Squadron,
shelved indefinitely. J.D. Dillard.
Untitled film. Canceled.
Damon Lindelof, Justin, Justin,
Untitled Post-Eepisode 9 film, replaced by Stephen Knight.
Kevin Feigey and Michael Waldrow, untitled film. Sheld Indefinitely.
Tycho with TD pending.
That's a staggering, staggering.
And facts. Those are facts.
That's right there, less than 10 years.
That's less than 10 years right there of films.
In 10 years, Adam.
It's going to happen every year.
It seems like.
It's insane.
And it's insane.
Like, no, again.
And if it happens with Tyke again, it's like, and is it going to happen with Mangold?
And again, the amount of stuff that in Hollywood is in these stages that we never find about.
It's the great stories of development hell.
Right.
Stop talking about it.
Right.
And how much money have they spent, though?
By the way, people never talk about this.
Oh, that's the other thing.
How much money did they spend on all those people that are, that, that, that, you know,
went to nothing.
How much did they have they paid Tycho Atiti so far on a movie that might never get made?
How much did they pay all these people?
This is like just throw.
I don't understand how it is still run the way it is.
I don't get it.
I mean, I know that they're dealing with other things right now.
If anybody was really going like this because there's strikes, it's Kathleen Kennedy right now.
Because it's not directed towards her right now.
It's like there has been no talk and there would have been.
If there was no strike, there have been no talk about like, hey,
Can we talk about that $300 million Indiana Jones movie that you made?
It lost a lot of money.
Can we talk about how we haven't had a Star Wars movie since 2019?
Why did you get to bring that up?
You remember you and I talking about Indy going out on a high note and this and that?
I just watched it again.
That's fine.
It's fine.
It's a fun movie.
It's fine.
But everyone involved for green lighting a $300 million Indiana should be barred for making movies for a year.
You know what I heard recently that I love?
What was it?
I think it's Captain Marvel.
Was it $180 or $110 million?
According to Vanity Fair, the need to cost the helm's sequel cost $130 million.
This makes it the highest budgeted film ever helmed by Black Woman.
The previous record holder was The Rinkle in Time.
Yeah, but it looks great.
Maybe with the marketing that's what it was.
Yeah, yeah.
But it looks great.
You've got big name stars in this.
You're paying some money out there.
But it looks great, and you made it for $130 million.
That's how it should be.
Agreed.
That's what we should be doing.
I hope this movie is a massive success based on that alone.
And well, look at the Blue Beetle.
Blue Beetle was able.
Blue Beetle was able to make...
But Blue Beetle was made for a Matrixville, Max.
It wasn't meant...
Of course.
Of course.
But because it had the budget that it did,
they were able to put it out there
because even if it...
Even if it winds up breaking even,
at least it's not a major loss.
It's not a huge flat.
The Flash, major loss.
Indiana Jones, major loss.
It's why they're so terrified with Aquaman, right?
Because Aquaman had four different reshoots.
I mean, the fact that they're trying to make it to make a billion.
I get it.
But either way, like, you look at the cost of what it must...
all these failed projects and how much money.
It's like, whoa.
It's like, I can't believe it.
And where is...
Two movies, Mike.
Where is the hand going?
All right.
Is someone above Kennedy going, okay, you're spending so much money on these things that aren't
going anywhere?
Stop.
Right.
You would assume that'd be an IGger thing.
Stop throwing the frigging spaghetti at the wall hoping something sticks and put it behind one thing.
But that's what I mean with Eiger being preoccupied with the strikes right now.
Or is she just a producer?
That's how she produces.
Just like, I put money here, here, here and here.
I roll the dice and see which.
which one pays off and I hope that's going to be the billion success.
Sure, sure. And if someone gave me that answer, and if it was 2019 when she gives me that answer,
I go, well, look, it's hard for me to argue with you right now.
Because you got a billion dollars successes.
Because the only movie that didn't hit a billion dollars was solo, and that's on me,
because I wanted you to put it out in May, so I'm going to give you that one.
The rest of them, the other four made a billion dollars.
So even though I don't love that you're spending all this money and losing people left
and right, you're showing me receipts.
She hasn't had a movie since 2019.
So now, what are we spending money on?
There's been no movie. You just spend it on streaming series?
Your goodwill and your
of success only goes so far. So far.
And that sequel trilogy
of films that made billions and so
or Rogue One billions, that is gone.
Right. It's the Hollywood of
what have you done for me now? 100%.
Plus the fact and very similar in the way that
like we just talked about Aquaman. Aquaman came out in a time
and even Captain Marvel.
They both came out at a time when it was
superhero movie hype. And so you put a movie out
and it made a billion dollars a lot of times.
Wait, hold on.
So one of the reasons why, like, now a lot of the superhero movie hype is not in that same kind of place.
No way.
In a 2018.
Star Wars, same thing.
Star Wars is not in a play.
People have lost, a lot of people have lost their trust in the brand.
Sure.
In general.
So, like, unless it's something that's going to really be a great movie, really have it, it's a billion dollars going to be tough.
You're saying that the trust for Marvel DC and Star is like, D.C., you know me.
I love it.
But Superman.
legacy, you've got to rein that budget in. You've got to make that for about $100 million.
$130. Yeah. You don't have big stars, so don't be throwing $20 million salaries at someone.
You've got to have a hit. And what they do is it seem like the reason like Indiana Jones was not
only because of the amount of people in it, right? And there wasn't like a major, major movie store
stack thing, but between all the special effects, the 20 minute opening alone probably cost them
a lot of money, but that ending, not the very ending, which is very emotional. By the way,
Going back to what we just talked about and proving your point, too, there's a, I don't want to spoil it for anybody who hasn't seen Indiana Jones, the last one.
There's an emotional moment that happens at the end of the movie, the very end of the movie.
You know what I'm talking about?
Yeah, because did you remember what I said when I saw this movie?
I don't know if I talked about you.
I don't know, but I don't spoil anything.
No, I'm not going to spoil anything.
I said, at the end of the movie, I didn't know if I loved it or hated it.
And I said, but that last scene, I think I love it.
Right.
That's why.
So the end of that, there's a particular scene, there's a very emotional scene.
that's the kind of feel we needed for that
100%
Asra scene
All right guys
guys, what do you guys think?
Did you agree with anything that I said?
Did you agree with anything that Mike said?
Do you think that Mike's crazy?
Of course I'm crazy.
So comment, let me know
what do you think overall in the episode.
What do you think about the fact that we're still,
that stat that I showed about how many
two directors, two have finished movies that were hired on?
To me, that's a staggering stator.
You guys just think, yeah, you know, it's Hollywood.
