The company stays optimistic as they have opened 85% of their theaters worldwide. And with most delayed blockbusters from 2020 slated for release, they expect a huge demand for a movie going once pandemic lockdowns lived and a hope to rebound from 2020's major loss.

Kate, have you ever lost $4 billion before, and are you optimistic that AMC and other theater chains will recover? Can I say something, Roxy, where was my trigger warning on this story? Because I have lost $4.6 billion before. Tough life after that. It's a tough life after that. I still had 4.6 in the bank, but no, I lost, no. This is, I mean, this is a number I don't even know how to make sense of, because I actually don't know what, like, what do you make in it? Like, I don't, on this level, I don't understand money.

It's monopoly money to me at this point. The truth is, I got to imagine that the, whatever the X amount of dollars that I feel like I lost during this pandemic, I have to imagine that it's commensurate to that. Meaning like, for me and my family of Ford, what we had to do to survive this whole year is what AMC is having to do on the corporate level. So, I mean, I do think people want to get back into theaters. And I can tell you, like, being in Chicago and seeing sort of the energy that was happening there with people getting more and more vaccines. and the fact that the wage was so well there. Hey.

Yeah, concessions are closed. Just like at the airport. Like, so you go and you sit to, you know, two six seats, six to six. That I feel, would feel comfortable. I've been doing it out here to support local businesses and stuff. Yeah. That's interesting because everything else is, everything else is opening up. So it's just it, I think that they can do it in a safe way.

It just feels like the movie theaters are the one form of entertainment that are getting the most shafted right now. And I know that you have to be safe and that you're in an indoor space, but if nail salons you sit there for two hours can be open, then I feel like they can find a way for movie theaters. And I think that they'll be able to bounce back because their whole salary is on how much the wants and desires of the people to be able to, get tickets. So once that's available, they'll start making money again. It's not like they can't make their product anymore. Yeah, and as long as concessions are closed, because obviously ain't nobody want to dip their hand in some popcorn right now, but like that's, that's, you could still go.

I'm curious. Oh, go ahead, Sabrina. Well, because concessions make up most of the like theater money. So it's going to be interesting at what kind of loss they're going to be taking by having concessions close and the limited seating. But I am, I am happy that this is open and this is an option for people who are comfortable with that. Yeah, and I do want to support our industry. Obviously, we know, you know, so many, I mean, so many people that I know that are not actors, that are the crew people that have been hit so hard

that that are the most, you know, they don't get talked about at all. They work their asses off. They've got families, their union people. So if I could support, and I just miss going to the movies, though. I know. I'm very, very lucky. I'm getting my second vaccination in three days.

And both of my grandparents have been vaccinated. So at this point, I'm going to do my part to like, thank you, thank you so much. I'm going to do my part to still, you know, they say you still need to wear a mask because you don't know if you're vaccinated, if you still could be a carrier for other people because they haven't done enough research and whatnot. But because the people, the immediate people in my life that I see are no longer at extreme risk, I definitely would be going to the movies. And there are a lot of people who are vaccinated at this point.

And I think that even if what they're saying, like, herd immunity by the more percentage, the more. Yeah, we're almost there. We're almost there. So, like, I think that it is a good time. But I will say if you are still somebody who's highly at risk or taking care of people who are highly at risk, unfortunately, you're going to have a lot of fomo, but it's just probably not your time, homie. Like, just wait a little bit longer. Alex, hit me with that number again. What's the, how much money did they lose this year?

Netflix says the feature will help protect subscribers from security concerns that can arise from unauthorized use of

your account. To me, this measure seems more aimed at young adults instead of families, but Kate, do you think other streaming services will also start cracking down on password sharing? Maybe their numbers are going to plummet, though. I mean, they're saying they have however many viewers, once you start saying, like, you can't share your password with other people or they start cracking down on that, you're going to have less views on your stuff. I don't think that those people who have been getting Netflix for free from their mom or from whoever, from their friend are going to start paying for that so i wonder to what lengths i mean they're going to be like we had 85 000 views on this where they used to report they had a million views on something it's like

I just think this is an interesting move to take so much time and resources. But it was inevitable. Everyone's been joking about sharing Netflix passwords since the time it happened. I think that eventually probably all of them will have some sort of authentication system where they can check how many screens are sharing the passwords. And I think that they're all going to start probably locking down on it. Yeah, it's kind of crazy with like the whole profile stuff and everything. $20.

And and then we can and then we can make those decisions of what we want to pay for and not. I guess I just I just caution I think people should then maybe look at themselves a little bit. If you are disgruntled about this, maybe check in with yourself and figure out like why and why this is causing you anger or like to be mean online or whatever because businesses are allowed to change.
