Hello, everybody. What's going on? Welcome back to the Thursday episode of The Big Thing.
Man, we have a lot to talk about. Those Ant Man reviews are in, and they are getting that kind of
Eternals review that I thought it was going to get it. It's mixed. It's mixed around the board.
I don't think it's mixed on this panel, but it's mixed, and that panel is me and Roxy Stryder today.
Brett Sheridan is at Mardi Gras. Not true, but he is in New Orleans. He's parting it up.
The fast 10 trailer has an obscene amount of views. I don't really think that's a,
a mystery to people.
People love these movies.
Steven Spielberg said that Tom Cruise saved Hollywood's ass.
Do we think that's true?
False.
And Kevin Feig offered some updates on Marvel.
Now we're going to get to some of those.
And if not more, I don't know how many one to get to because Roxy Stryor's here.
We're probably going to talk to her about her dating life as we have been doing for the last,
I don't know, it's been like, it's as riveting as I think like 1923 is right now.
And I think that you guys have really been loving and enjoying it.
I have a special surprise, two special surprises for Roxy Stryor on the show today.
She doesn't even know.
She doesn't even know yet.
And she's got some special surprises for you guys.
We'll talk about that as well.
So what the hell are we going to get into today and Big Thing?
That's about it.
There's a lot.

I actually have another crazy announcement that we'll talk about inside of all this potential tour coming up soon and that and Spotify.
We've been on video on Spotify and we're doing really well.
We're doing really well.
We were in the top charts.
And I'm asking you guys to follow us over there and follow some of the episodes over there because that gets us even more.
And if you want to show a little class, hit that button.
We're almost at 70,000.
It's 66,000, everybody, approaching 67 rapidly.
And that's because of you guys.
So, let's get into this show.
Everybody, it's myself.
It's Roxanne Stryor.
Let's do it.
Come on.
Let's do it.
Shoes and beef.
What's going on, everybody?
Welcome back.
It's me.
I'm Roxy.

How are you?
It's days like today where I feel like you and I need a special handshake.
How about this?
How about two flicks?
No, that's kind of weird, huh?
I was going to say at first, I was just trying to be nice, but then I was like, that could be weird.
The way you can't flick really with two fingers like that.
Who cares?
It doesn't matter.
It matters a lot to me.
No.
It doesn't.
It doesn't matter me?
Is that how life works?
Yes.
We could dictate.
This doesn't matter to you.
What surprise do you want first?
I have two surprises.
So I have the surprise that you're going to, I'm going to keep the camera on you and I want to watch
you reaction.
Okay.
Or one that I think is going to make you.
really happy.
I want the happy one second.
In case the first one doesn't go well.
Okay, good.
Because I think the second one's going to make you really happy.
Actually?
Yes.
Yes.
For sure.
Give me a topic.
No.
Oh.
Let's do the first one first.
Okay, you ready?
Here's the first one.
I'm not going to drink anything during this.
No.
But I don't...
I'm eating.
Oh, no.
Communication?
You, me.
But I don't listen to a lot of things.
Also, a 70.
year old. That's why I'm up here. My wife today gets accepted to art school. Right?
He's art school. She went back school. Exactly. Like, proud thing. I go, I'm off to tell
dick jokes. But I'm an idiot. And I realize this. There's always an eight-year-old that
lives in my head. I'm married. I have two children and I'm an eight-year-old. My friend,
she is in her early 30s. She's dating in L.A. As you guys know, it is not easy to date in L.A.
How long did it take before this finally happened?
Oh, I live across the country.
See?
Smart.
I know this place.
No shit.
All right.
Across the country.
But either way, but you guys, but dating's not easy.
However, same thing.
How long do you guys have been dating?
I like that you answered first.
Smart.
Smart if you want it to last.
But you know it's finding the person takes a bit.
So my friend has been dating for a while and she's trying to figure it out and she's
trying to make it work.
So she comes to me for advice because I'm married for a while, I have kids.
So she's like, okay, so I'm dating this guy and she finally found somebody that she likes.
talking to this guy and she really likes this guy and she's like hey so I'm really
really enjoying this guy's conversation he's so nice he opens the doors for me I love
it and there's only one issue on I said what's the issue he has a communication
problem and in my head I should have said well what's the problem let's talk about
it but instead I said a communication problem what's wrong he picks up the phone
I'm like, ha-l-l-l-l-l-v-v-v-v-v-v-h-v-h-h-v-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h. He's like, he's great at dinner.
But, man, has he been on the phone? He's just like, you know, I'll be the...
He just can't figure it out. On Zoom, he's a mess.
Ah, blah-l-l-l-l-l-l-la. And they can't figure out what to do.
with the guy and she's like really is that what you're gonna do and I go yeah I go
and then it made even worse I had to call my friend to tell him when she's in the room
and I'm like explaining the joke again like a polly walnuts from the fucking
soprados oh it's so accurate and she just is look in her face and I realized why
because I had just watched airplane you know the movie airplane if you're not you're
fucking heathens and you need to be here you should be watching the movie
and he would throw it over his shoulder.
And I said him and her boyfriend
should get together and make the third film.
And so I tell my 11-year-old daughter
because that's my audience.
Oh, my God.
This joke.
And she goes, Dad, that's amazing.
It's hilarious.
What was the communication issue?
I had no fucking idea.
I have a communication problem.
It's this is what they know.
It was funny because it's true.
You told that story exactly how it happened.
Exactly how it happened.
Wow, that murdered too.
It did well.
It did well.
I mean, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, God.
It's going to be so bad.
Should we talk about what's going on first or do you want this thing that's going to make you happy first?
What do you think?
Let's get you happy first so you can then tell the story.
Okay.
All right.
I want you to close your eyes.
Oh, no.
Close your eyes.
I want to put your hands out and close your eyes.
Okay.
if it's like wet, dirty.
Open.
No.
You said they didn't make it.
I had the makeup.
Oh.
I'm so happy.
What a victory.
Right?
Show the people.
Show the people what you got.
It's a white, big thing sweatshirt.
In your size.
In my size?
Yeah, they had it.
Oh.
See,
Did I lie?
No.
I've been at,
this has been two months.
Easily.
Three months.
Easily.
Four months, baby.
Half a year.
I've been begging for this.
Oh, come on.
Yeah, you got it.
Wow.
Isn't that great?
Yeah, see?
And we launched the great debate last week about that black brown sweatshers.
I know people,
people still,
it's like,
it was like one of those TikTok videos,
but we did.
Roxy's very excited for people who are listening on Apple Podcasts that we got her to
this sweatser.
She's been wanting this forever.
Let's go.
Now she has too many big.
thing shirts. You got brown, no, no, no, never right now. Oh, this is so great. Isn't that great?
Oh, that's good. Okay, so it was a good. How'd you do it? Don't worry about it. What do you, what do you worry about
tricks? I don't know. Did you get the, did the magic trick happen? It happened. Exactly. So, all right,
now listen to me. Wow, I've never the winner. You know, we got one today. I won. You did. And not only did you
win there, we're going to get to the story, but so if you guys didn't know, Roxy is, I mean, she's talked about it on
this show and she's talking about your followers. She started a movie called Always Loel.
and there's some big news.
What's the news?
Yeah, we got acquired and it was announced in deadline today,
which is really fucking cool.
It was like crazy because actually the way that I first found out,
not that we had been acquired that I knew,
but that it was in deadline,
is that my friends from back home started sending it to me.
Oh, that's cool.
Which was really fucking cool.
Like, you know, oftentimes you do something,
Our friends are back home.
Sure.
Right.
No fucking idea.
But the fact that they found it on deadline, yeah, that's great.
The fact that they found it on deadline was really fucking.
So I love this and I love that this was acquired.
I have one, I have one problem.
Okay, what is it?
Can I tell you what the problem is?
Yeah.
I read it.
Didn't see your name in it.
Yeah, I don't know.
I didn't like that.
I know.
I didn't like that.
Well, I'll say hopefully by the time the people are seeing this, maybe that's different
because working on it.
You know, your name should be in it.
I'm Lola.
Yeah, you don't have to say it.
I'll say it.
Your name should be in it.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
It's silly that your name is enough.
But shout out to Good Deed Entertainment, who bought the movie, and that is good for you guys at home, because that means that it will be a movie that you can see it.
Yeah, that's great.
That's really fucking exciting for me.
I can see it.
Yeah.
You could have seen it.
No, I couldn't have.
Every time I, there was all times that the screenings were always at times that I couldn't make it.
I'm not saying you could have seen it on your side, but on my side, you were invited.
Of course, yes, yes, yes.
You didn't say you can't come and see it.
You invited me many times.
It just unfortunately just never worked out.
Yeah, yeah, because you're a busy guy.
Yeah, when I really want to see it.
So I will see it for sure.
But then there's, is there other news that you can share?
Yeah, this was cool too.
So sometimes I feel like it will be, and I'm sure you can relate to this.
Cairns of pores.
Yeah, well, I was going to say sometimes it's like radio silence and you're like working
your ass off, but nobody has any idea and it's just crickets out there.
Right.
But so this morning, the deadline article dropped with,
Always Lola, and I was fucking stoked.
And then I knew for a minute that I had been cast in this movie, Crust, Sean Whalen's movie.
If you guys don't know who that is, if you, IMDBM, you'll see he has like 150 credits.
He's a huge character actor.
He's so fucking great.
And his directorial debut is this horror comedy movie that is I could not be more stoked about.
The script is like fucking hysterical.
I read it prior to the pandemic.
then the pandemic happened and everything got pushed and whatnot,
but now it was announced this morning that I was cast in the movie.
And I was just like,
fuck yeah,
like let's go a little momentum here.
Yeah,
rain's upores,
man.
Yeah,
now let's get into the stuff that everybody's here for.
My dating life.
Yes.
Yeah,
you know,
I only spend 100 hours a week working in like one hour dating,
but that's the shit.
That's the thing.
That's the stuff that's poppy.
You also really see,
you and I've been doing shows long.
I sent you a picture and I'll probably post it right now as we're talking
about it of how long we've really been working.
working together. I texted you a picture yesterday. It's been like eight years.
Yeah, that was first time. So that was 2014, which that's, we're in 23. Yeah, so probably like
eight and a half years from when that picture was taking place. Yeah, that's true. And I knew you
before that. Ish. At the tree. At the tree. Yeah, we met at the tree. What the hell tree are you talking about?
I had the tree. I don't know what that means. Do I know what that means? What the hell does the tree mean?
You and I, I know. Oh, no, I know a tree. But yes, yes, yes, yes. I remember the tree.
It was like, and it was an afterbuzz kind of like retreat or something.
I actually don't know why it was in that park.
And I just remember trying to impress you at the tree.
Is that true?
Yeah.
You were acting like an asshole.
Yeah, that was me trying to impress.
Oh, see, I didn't, I was like, this girl, she's, she's tough, man.
From one east coaster to another, how do you impress them?
But I remember thinking, because I think at that point, Kathy was on your show.
Yeah, Kathy had been on my show a few times.
Yeah, I think Kathy Kelly was on it.
And I remember, I always looked up to Kathy.
Like I felt like I was always I don't know how to phrase this better, but like one step, but like, you know, chase in the game.
And she was on the show.
And I was like, oh, I got to get on that fucking show.
But you can't be desperate.
So you got to be dick.
Yeah, I didn't need that.
No, that's not one.
Because I, because there was a thing that there were, there were.
What?
I didn't need that.
I didn't need that.
Actually, that almost lost me the job.
I was like, I didn't know.
I didn't know.
I didn't know.
I remember Ken go, no, she's cool.
I'm like, really?
I'm like, all right.
Yeah, because I'd already yelled at him.
Yes.
But then what's starting to get to know you at that studio itself was great.
And I can't remember how I'd asked.
I don't know if Alicia wasn't there or Tiffany wasn't there and we needed somebody.
I was like, you want to fill in?
And you did.
And you had a lot of research and you did everything.
And I was like, shit, man.
She really, she was great.
And so I sent that picture.
But I don't even know how the hell I started to get into the story.
What was I starting to get into?
You're saying that the people, we've been doing this long time.
People care about my dating life.
Yes.
And so what I was saying inside of that is you,
and then we did our show together at Clara Live for a bit.
And then when,
but you know how to read what the audience and what bits.
You got,
you have to,
as a segment,
it's been working.
Oh,
it's been working.
Listen.
And like,
the day that he finds out,
this is a segment.
Oh,
that's what's my next question.
Dreading.
Because especially,
oh,
Brett's going to be so upset about the headroom on this right now.
I can already.
I can fix it.
Because I'm a little gremlin creature today.
Why?
So he's going to,
at some point
know that I'm talking about him on the show
but he said something to me yesterday that I'm going to be able to use against him
and I wrote it down in the notepad
so that I would remember this moment in case it comes to bite me
now you're going to be so upset with what you just did.
I can fix it.
Okay.
So here's what happened yesterday.
Yesterday was Valentine's Day and we actually hung out
which I was not sure we were going to do
but we did because now I guess like
I'm seeing this guy.
Right.
So, but that's, okay, but wait a minute.
So I got to go back because the last episode,
we talked about how we didn't know where we were with the whole conversation.
It was a big debate in the comments about what happened.
As far as wait, just, just wait.
Yeah, I saw those fucking comments.
And it was, you waited four hours to talk to them about.
I didn't wait.
You did.
You said it yourself.
I waited till the show was done.
You said four hours later.
Your words, not mine.
No, I'm just saying I feel like that was misconstrued in the comments.
We literally, he said it.
We walked into the show.
What am I going to do?
Just talk to him during the show?
No, it doesn't change the fact that it was four hours later.
That's how long to show us.
Oh, congratulations.
I'm just giving you facts here later.
I'm just letting them know.
Fine.
Four hours later, you bring it up.
It's still duration of the show, not duration.
You bring it up and then it's turned into a longer thing and you were confused about how
that's going to go.
Does that go away?
Okay, so here's what happened with that.
First of all, every woman that I have spoken to literally,
every woman has been like, oh, you had to bring that up.
up.
False.
And every man I've spoken to has said, I don't know if I would have brought that up.
Right.
That's so weird, the dichotomy of like every woman is like, you have to 100% bring it up.
You can't let that slide.
False.
False that they're saying that to me?
Yeah.
No, no.
False.
That, that's their opinion.
Well, their opinion is false.
Yeah, it's false.
Absolutely false.
Just saying all the women are wrong.
It's false.
Use that against me.
Go ahead.
Tweet it up.
It's false.
Today is so weird.
I'm probably, Christian, just called all women false.
It's false.
You know what I do now when people tell me, like, so if I'm getting into an argument with someone,
tell me that tomato sauce is red.
Tomato sauce is red.
I don't believe you.
I don't believe you.
Moving on.
That's so not annoying?
I don't believe you.
Go ahead.
Finish.
You do have communication issues.
Hell yeah.
I realize that.
Okay.
So this weekend, last.
He was out of town, so I hadn't seen him.
I haven't seen him in 10 days.
Yeah, that's what you said.
And he was out of town this past weekend, but we were texting.
And he brought up something that I felt like was my inn to let him know I'm moved on.
Okay.
From it.
I don't remember exactly how it went.
Something along the lines of he said, some event, whatever.
And I was like, you're going to kill me.
Go ahead.
I was like, I'd invite you to come with me, but I'll know too many people there.
But were you joking?
And then wrote like winky face.
Okay.
So then he was like, ha, ha, ha.
That's fun.
He was like, ha, ha, ha.
So we're ready to move on from that.
And I was like 100%.
And then we scrapped it.
There is no world where I would be upset with you with that.
That's a good move.
If you're mad about it for real, I'd go, what are you doing?
But you're fucking around.
Yeah, of course.
That's a good move.
So then that was the last time that came up.
And I think it will be the last time it came up because something else came up.
Because something else came up.
Oh, so when I saw him last night, he was like, a couple different things happened.
It was very interesting.
Like, I kind of thought that we were going to have a very, like, casual Valentine's Day, which we did.
Like, I knew he had worked this morning.
I had worked this morning.
And we weren't going to go anywhere.
We were just going to chill and watch it.
I just remembered something.
Go ahead.
What?
Theester has filmed this day.
We did stop, but I'd, I'd,
I was like, oh, yeah, it was yesterday.
The days blend together.
My daughter's woke up.
Did you wish your wife a happy Valentine's?
Of course.
I got her.
She had, she had, she had fucking washed her earbuds.
Her earbuds, air buds, earbuds.
Air pods?
Thank you.
And you got it.
And I'm telling you, my mind is mush right now.
Her earbuds.
Her earbuds.
The airbud, the dog.
He got her hairbud.
He's a little old.
She fucking washed air bud.
I feel like he needs to wash sometimes.
He's banging around in the,
thing you just like you look it's a bath um it told her throw it out buy your new air
them out poor air bud but the the ear pods right there we go close air pod thank you i'm i'm telling you
brain is mush because but she was watching the air pods and and and i was like oh so she really
needed new ones so i got her new ones got her because she got them what they were broke they didn't
they didn't work after she washed them i tried them i tried them like why did she wash her hair pot she didn't
do it a purpose oh oh oh i was i'm saying she i didn't
include that in there, but she was watching to get a nice and clean and realized, oh, you can't
watch the electronics. I figured that out of the hard way. She had her in her jeans. That's how you
described. I'm telling you. My daughter has, my daughter has, my daughter has woken up at 530
in the morning the last two days. So you're not here. I just had three cups of coffee, so I'm like,
you know, it's like, you know, like I'm like a puppet. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'm still, but I'm,
I'm available. But you're not going to get, you're going to get air bud or air pot or airbus.
Airbusch.
So you didn't get airbusch.
You got, you got...
So she put them in the wash and they got broken.
Yeah, so anyway, so I just remembered yesterday.
When was that?
I thought it was like last week.
You mouthed.
Like, I was talking and you went.
Yeah, because I was trying to figure out when that was.
I was like, I knew that we did something.
I was like, when was that?
And that was yesterday.
It was like you were like whispering to a ghost.
Yeah, I'm not here right now.
I'm here, but I'm not.
You know what I mean?
If I was a wooden boy, that's right.
That's right.
But you are here and you were with him.
Yeah.
And you guys see, so what happens?
So we ended up, we just had a drink at his place.
Okay.
And it was so nice because I feel like we keep doing these fucking extravagant things, premieres,
and shows, and I just want to spend time with it.
It's a different side of it too.
And you realize what it's like on the different chill side.
I want to know him.
Right.
And it's hard to know somebody when you're like, da-da-da-da-da.
So when we were there, he did something that I thought was really smart,
which he was like, I just want to like not make a big deal, this, whatever.
But I, like, really liked your friends just so you know.
I think that they were really cool.
And I was really, really impressed by Anna and her premiere that she threw.
And by Mark, he was so fucking funny.
And I just, I liked them.
And I just want you to know that.
That's awesome.
That's really sweet.
Thank you so much.
And then I knew he, like, had thought about it.
Yeah.
He's, he's been very receptive to thinking about the things that I'm saying.
And then realizing, like, maybe he's not handling them perfectly.
But he wants to, but he wants to learn.
Yeah.
And then I, this morning, he sent me a message about how I,
been like good about that too he was like major major this is getting real i don't know i'm actually
you don't know i'm actually flipped out about it i mean you know it's like the 87th date it's like no no
that was a ninth but you right and you hung out on valentine's day when you hang on purpose doesn't matter
really no it doesn't matter if you hang on this oh this one was going to tell you this is the thing
that i have in my pocket now though so like to me things are moving incredibly slow i've told you that
Yeah.
We've been seeing each other for two months.
I've seen him nine times.
That's like not very fast.
I'm a fucking slow freak.
He's slower.
Okay.
Which is like fine.
But he feels like things are not moving slow.
He thinks moving fast.
Yeah.
He's like, yes.
And so he said to me last night by his two producers at it, like two of the girls at his office,
he's like, yeah, I was talking about it.
and they thought that I should bring up with you my thoughts on like where we're at or whatever, whatever.
Just talking to people at the office about you.
Totally.
So I was like, yes, I talk to people at the office about you.
It just happens to be on air.
So I like that.
A little difference.
I'm just saying.
That's different is what I do for work.
Yeah.
And I'm telling you.
And so he's telling people at his work.
And you're telling you're telling thousands of people right now.
You're telling you.
Thousands of people now, rooting.
He doesn't even know how many people he's about to meet.
He's, this poor bastard, at a live event, if we do a live event in Los Angeles and he's there.
No.
And you're standing with you.
Oh, my God.
He's going to get as many pictures taken with him as you are.
Yeah.
And he's going to be like, what is going on?
Oh, my God.
He's going to be so confused because he's all.
Canada.
He's last night he told me he was like, you know, I'm just like a really private person.
No, really?
I was like, oh, shit.
Well.
You've got to bring this up.
Not yet.
Not yet?
I don't know.
This is the fifth date story.
You've told him this story about this guy.
Here's the good thing.
I've only said, like, other than the communication issues.
Does he not know about that either?
No, he knows nothing.
He hasn't known that I, and it's a fucking bit in my act now.
I know.
I know.
I don't take him to the show.
I have no idea about it.
You should take him to the, can you imagine.
if you would have taken him after the other night.
Oh my God, he'd have no idea.
He would be watching it laughing,
and I'd be thinking, I'm the 30-year-old friend.
This is about you.
He would have no idea.
I don't have no idea.
But the good thing is about what I'm doing
is I'm trying to be as respectful as possible
in terms of, like, he's fucking amazing.
And I think I've been very clear about that.
Seems like it.
I talk really poorly about some of the other people.
No, this is, no, this is the most real in a while,
I feel like.
Yeah.
I'm going to ask you a question.
It's going to be very uncomfortable.
Yeah.
Is this your boyfriend?
No, no.
Not yet.
No, definitely not.
You say it like no, like you don't want it to be.
No, I don't say it like that.
I say it like last night we had like a.
That conversation.
Not that conversation per se.
Like the word boyfriend was never brought up.
But I was like, you know, I think we both have reservations based on different things that we are looking for from each other.
And like, I.
I've not had a sleepover with this person.
Right.
Like that, so you're not my boyfriend.
Like, we have, for somebody to be my boyfriend, we, I need to, they need to have
met my friends.
Mm-hmm.
I need to.
That's happened.
No.
What I mean?
He met literally Mark.
Okay.
And he met.
So all your friends needs to me?
No, but like he hasn't met Steph.
Okay.
He hasn't met Doreena.
Like, he hasn't met.
Still.
Yeah.
Like, he needs to have met some people in my life, come around a little bit.
And then.
I think we just need to interview him on.
the show. I think you bring him in. I'm telling you if you want to let him you got to let him know
that that's how this has been going down. We just sit down. We need to like maybe have like gone on a
trip like I'm months away from having been wasn't my boyfriend for that's that was rude that I just
named him. Everybody knows that's my ex-go. But that was my boyfriend for I mean it took me so long to
say yes to being his girlfriend like so fucking long. I think I think it was like eight months.
Look, we keep going into episodes here that go back and forth in just like a television show.
Like there's this is a happy episode.
This was a happy.
Last week was like kind of like on your seat like, oh shit, what's going to happen next episode?
This is a happy episode.
Yeah, I would say like based on last night, we got on the same page about things.
And yeah, I'm like fucking stoked about him.
Seems like it.
And I think that the odds.
So nervous.
It makes me feel nauseous when I talk about it, Christian.
Ah, listen, the audience, I think, is also rooting for it.
It seems like everybody's rooting for Canada.
It seems like it.
Oh.
Everybody's rooting for Canada.
I mean, I've...
But are they rooting for me?
I think both.
I mean, because they're rooting for Canada because it's you.
I think because I've looked in the comments and most people are rooting for Canada.
It just seems like even if you weren't on his side, I was on the four-hour thing.
I think that people are rooting for this guy.
It seems like I think it was a good movie.
I think he won the audience today with this story.
Yeah, he's done a good job.
Yeah, so we've got more updates.
We got more updates from Canada.
So what do you guys think?

That part, I didn't have a problem with, waking up at 5.30 because of my daughter,
but I had a nice sleep all the way through.
up until that point.
I just can do it right.
This particular time I did it right before the show,
but normally I'll do it right after my coffee,
so I'll probably have a little bit later on today.
It's just hard to do all those different vitamins together.
It's just easy if you put it all together,
and it tastes good.
It looks like green.
You're like, this is green.
It tastes good, and I talked about my five-year-olds.
That smells good, and it does.
It smells really good.

want to hear about it and let me know.
I'm cool.
You tag them too and let them know that helps us out,
helps a show out and help yourself out.
Okay, Rocks, you're going to be, you're on the clock here.
We're going to let you, because you just,
every week you open up to us about your date story.
You got a couple stories here that you want to talk about.
Which one do you want to pick?
I wanted to ask you what this Spielberg story is.
Have you not heard this?
No.
All right, here is the video.
This is, there was some award ceremony or whatever it was.
And here's Spielberg talking to Tom Cruise and,
basically tells him that Maverick's
save the industry here they give a very long hug
you leave alone
they both ignore this guy and tell him
to fuck himself.
Producers' guilt.
They're out of here.
Just got to have in a moment.
What?
Your table is it a second, right?
To the left of center.
Did you hear that?
Saved Hollywood's ass.
Madrick might have saved the entire theatrical industry.
Distribution, yeah.
Interesting.
What do you make of that?
I see where he's coming from.
Because now people will probably,
I haven't read any articles on it,
but what I would assume is,
especially the comic book movie industry,
is probably what are you talking about?
You got, you know, all these movies like Back Panther
and Ant Man and,
and Spider-Man that are doing pretty well in the theater.
Yeah, but what's the counter?
Are those the only movies that can do it?
What if you're not a comic but movie fan?
Temple, whatever it is, yeah.
What if you're not that person?
Like, what if you don't want to watch?
I don't want to go to the movies anywhere
because there's nothing out there for me except comic book movies.
And, I mean, we like to see them all, right?
But like, not everybody is that way.
And Maverick, Top Gun Maverick felt like a return
to an old-school feel of movie-making or movie
distribution. I said it in my review, and I saw it. It just felt, it felt like the way that they
used to make blockbusters, but it's still relevant to today. That makes any sense. And,
and I see what Spielberg was saying to him, for sure, and I see the idea, and then you look at
Indiana Jones coming back, and then you look at, I mean, shit, I mean, even though it's
a comic movie, Michael Keaton coming back, that's probably not a good reference because of
the Flash in general, because it's still comic book. But, you know, Avatar, I think, is also,
should be response.
It should also be given the credit as well too.
Oh, it's a second movie of Avatar.
It's a second movie of Top Gun.
Yeah.
Of course, different.
But I don't know.
The other day, I bumped into Scott Mans some screening.
Yeah, nice to see it, Iraq.
Mayor of all the screenings.
And he told me that he, his money is on Top Gun to win Best Picture.
No chance.
So you think zero chance.
But probably for the same reason that Steven Spielberg is just speaking about.
And also because of the way the voting process works.
obviously.
I just can't see them getting over the artsy-fartsy part of it.
I feel like, you know, they'd feel dirty if they voted.
I mean, I think it should win.
I think it's the best movie the year for sure.
But I think that they would feel dirty voting for it over like everything ever all at
once.
Or, you know, I think they would feel like, no, it's not, it's not, it's, it's too commercial.
It's too, and it's the wrong approach, but I feel that's the way it goes a lot of times.
I just can't imagine.
I would lose my mind if it won.
And I think that it would be great for the Oscars.
And I think it would be great for the business if it won.
But I'm so curious why he would think that.
Hmm.
Something about like I don't really fully understand the Oscar voting process,
but something about it being fourth on a lot of people,
but then a lot of people going for a tar or everything everywhere.
Oh, splitting the votes?
Yeah, something like that, I think is what he was describing.
I also don't think it's going to win.
I think everything everywhere at once is going to win.
Yeah, what was the other one that I was just...
The Fableman.
Right.
Which is Stevens Spielberg's.
Right.
And he'd probably be okay with Top Gun winning after that thing.
Yeah, that was...
That's really interesting.
I don't look at it that way, but I do think that Top Gun did great work.
Obviously, you know, it's a top three movie of me for last year.
It was walking out of that movie.
I remember I saw you right after that.
It was like so fucking exciting.
But I don't, I don't know.
I don't know that it, whether Stevens Spielberg was saying that because he was just complimenting
Tom Cruise in that moment or whether he really...
He looked pretty genuine, yeah.
No, I don't think he was being disingenuine,
but like disingenuous, disingenuine.
One of the two.
Okay.
But I feel like he was...
I don't know if I fully understand his point here.
Yeah.
Like that this saved...
Well, I mean, again, I think it's...
The industry.
Well, I think, I mean, you look at it, again,
there was what movies,
but what movies were really hitting in the box office
that weren't comic movie movies.
Right, like you said Avatar.
But that came out after Top Guns.
Yeah, it did.
Right.
It did.
And it put people like, what got people...
What was in the best picture last year?
What was last year?
I can't even think of any movie that came out the previous year.
I'm going to look it up.
I don't remember.
You can look it up.
But, yeah.
But I knew that your brain was off to be.
No, there's no chance I'm going to be able to recall it.
But I didn't even know Valentine's Day was yesterday or two days ago when this was coming out.
But what else?
Co-O-1?
Oh, Co-O-1 last year.
That's right.
I didn't even remember Coda winning.
Yeah, that made no money.
Right.
I mean, animated movies.
The big blockbuster movies never win, hardly ever win best picture.
Hardly ever.
Yeah.
And then Will Smith obviously won for King Richard.
Right, right.
And that was last year.
But so, but, you know.
Yeah, that's ceremony.
Yeah, that's ceremony.
But as far as your question, as far as, and his point is that I think that you look,
remember where we were, I think this is probably the best way to look at it.
Remember where we were when we were doing like SCN Live and we talked about,
in 2020, no one went to the movie there.
obviously nobody was going movie theaters
movie theaters weren't open um in
2021 there it's the first time i went back to the theater was the end of
2021 and it was for eternals and ghostbusters
with the first two movies i think ghostbusters was the first one i saw whatever one came
up first that's the one i saw first um
I saw the the first movie back was the fast and furious
that was the one you saw okay yeah so and and that was even that was in the middle
right so it was people were not going back to the theater yet so the question
was when they when they started to put like you know shuncchi did pretty well and all this things so
again if you hadn't been to the movie theaters and you don't give a shit about comic book movies
you're going why don't want to go back to the movies i don't need to i got my i have my this is the
big fear in general before the pandemic because it's streaming and the home theaters and everything
was going to keep you away from the theater and then you go oh shit top guns out in that theater
how do you not see that in that theater if you're like old school or even if you start to hear the
buzz about it and you and because i said the same thing to people you got to see that in that theater that's
a theater experience.
Yeah.
And it made what,
1.3 billion or whatever the hell I mean?
What about the fast movies?
Do it?
I mean, I think that they're going to,
I think they're going to continue.
I think it's going to do really well.
That's probably...
Do you look at that as comic book movies almost?
I know they're not.
No, no.
So do you feel like that Top Gun did something for movies that fast movies don't?
No,
because I think what he's,
he's really talking about what I would assume,
I don't speak for Steven Spielberg,
but I think because it looked like the theater business.
Everyone was talking about how dead the theater business
could potentially be in that saving, I think saving the theater industry was after the pandemic.
And even that fast movie hit at a strange time.
It did.
So that it doesn't really, it's not really in contention for this conversation.
It's that Maverick really boosted up ticket sales and got people interested in going back to the theater besides just comic book films.
And so no, I think Fast and Fier's before was part of the, I mean, it was one of those movies that made a billion dollars.
It did so well.
the business was thriving, it was part of the conversation.
But the Maverick was the kind of post-pandemic, big movie that was non-comic book that set the
needle in a different direction that also helped for, I think helped Avatar and I completely
agree with you.
It's not that I'm disagreeing at all.
It's just kind of interesting, like the way he phrased it is interesting.
That's how Steven Spielberg feels, especially when he had a massive box-off.
this movie in the same year, which is very different.
I'm going to try to do.
I don't have my phone.
I was actually going to try to call Steven Spielberg and see if he'll elaborate.
Let me see.
I'm going to try.
Best of luck.
Yeah, I'm going to try.
Maybe he'll tell us what he meant and what he thinks will win Best Picture as well.
on Tom Cruise.
You know, as you're trying to call him,
I do, I've always pitched this.
I do feel like the Oscars should give awards
for movies from five years ago.
What do you mean?
Like, this is a crazy sentiment,
but in five years,
we are going to think that Top Gun Maverick should have won this year.
That's the movie that's going to be the best.
But right now, and I-
Save and Private Ryan should not have lost to Shakespeare
Exactly. And in five years' time, you would know that. When you're voting, you would know which are the movies from this year. That's the movie from this year.
100%. I understand what you mean.
I do feel like to that point, Top Gunn should win this year. And I love everything everywhere all at once.
But I don't think in five years we're going to be talking about everything everywhere.
Same way you do. Same way you do Top Gun. Right. Yeah. And well, but it's just in general with how big, it's just a bigger movie for casual audiences than everything ever all wants is.
but all right let's let's move on to something else and then we're not going to get him on the line
he hasn't he's very busy roxy hasn't responding yet so if he responds i'll i'll see i i reached out to his
office to see if i can talk to stephen's spill work um let's talk him stevie oh stevo
oh yeah yeah yeah let's let's talk about um the ant man because this is what i think i'm
i think i'm going to lead with today i knew after seeing this movie and roxy's seen it also
non-spoilers, by the way.
I knew after seeing this movie,
this was going to be, to me,
the same type of conversation
to say, like, the Eternals.
I enjoyed the Eternals, by the way,
and a lot of people did.
You and I are the same there.
Yeah.
And it was similarity to the same thing.
Now, what I will tell you about this movie,
the same thing I said in my review,
I think it is, if you love science fiction,
I think it's definitely a very,
it's the most science fiction movie
that Marvel has done so far.
And there is, people are science,
science fiction or science fiction fantasy?
I think there's a mixture of both because it was like,
I don't, someone wrote and said,
I think you're wrong.
I think it's just science fiction fantasy.
It's like,
no, there's a lot of quantum physics in there
and a lot of stuff that's very science fictiony,
but there's also a lot of science,
fiction fantasy as well.
The movie definitely is very chaotic towards the end.
It's like really chaotic.
And I think...
I didn't feel that.
Really?
I thought it was pretty chaotic.
And I think, but I think it wraps itself up.
And now everybody's talking about it.
I tried to like non-spoiler, but it's in the trailer.
I won't give the details of it.
but I think Modoc's either going to really hit for you
or Modoc is going to be like
this is really ridiculous.
Did Modoc hit for you or no?
I didn't mind Modoc because I had no attachment to the character from the comics.
The story from Modoc in the comics is significantly different
of who that character is as compared to how they made it work for the trilogy of films.
I loved Modoc in this.
I thought it was the way that they did Modoc was like hysterical.
poignant and the arc of modoc I thought was just like chef's kiss my favorite line comes out of
where you know that's for me I didn't have what you'd had for this which is the wherewithal to know that this would be an eternal's conversation yeah I thought this movie was great and was like and was in a theater of people who clearly didn't feel that way and I don't get it well I'm telling you
It's, it is, I do get it because like, as I was watching, I'm going, yeah, this thing I mean for everybody, but I, for the science.
It's hard.
It's very science fictiony.
I mean, like, really science fictiony.
And it's like, and it also doesn't have, it doesn't have a ton.
I mean, there's a lot of some of the character stuff doesn't work as well.
And it, and it does, it, I'm telling you, for me, I was, I was sitting there going, this is getting loud and chaotic.
This is crazy.
I'm like, are they going to, and but it wrapped up nice enough for me.
that I was okay
and I thought they showed
way too much in the trailer.
Yeah, they definitely did show too much
in the trailer, especially the stuff.
Well, don't say anything.
I'm going to say especially the stuff
that when I was watching the trailer,
I was like, why do we just see that?
And then in the movie I was like, okay.
Yeah, you ruined it.
But regardless of the trailer,
for the actual movie,
I felt like it was the most cohesive,
least chaotic of all the Marvel movies
I've seen in the last,
of Thor.
Yeah, of Thor, Love and Thunder.
of Black Panther, of Dr. Strange 2.
I'll give you Thor and Dr. Strange.
Yeah, I think that Wakanda Forever is a better movie than this,
but I liked this better.
Same.
I think that of all of those, this was so cohesive and not chaotic to me.
I mean, chaotic in the sense that it was supposed to be.
Like, it's supposed to be a big whirlwind.
But I just thought that this had a very straightforward storyline
of characters that we already know,
and understand where they're coming from.
And I just was like blown away by this movie.
I thought the visuals were fucking unbelievable.
Yeah, visuals looked pretty great.
It was like a perfect micro-dosing, trippy, dippy, like holy shit.
And then with fun, poignant messages.
And Jonathan Majors was great.
He was amazing, but also this is crazier than that to me,
because I knew he was going to be great.
Everybody was talking about how great he was.
I thought Michelle Pfeiffer stole the fucking movie.
She was great. Yeah, she was good too.
And there was a lot of moments in there that I thought worked really well.
And it did feel to me like a good starting point for phase five.
And I enjoyed watching and I enjoy it.
It's like a 50 Christian on Rotten Tomatoes.
I was like a 50.
Yeah, I know.
I'm telling you, I can see, but I want to see what the audience score is.
I do think, though, I don't think, I was talking to Greg Albaa about this who didn't
love the movie, right?
I know.
And he said he was like, he goes, well, I think that the audience score is going to be much higher.
I don't know.
I think so, too.
I don't think, I mean, much higher, I think the audience score, because it's hard to say now because you get all these people who now can bomb the site.
I know.
How accurate is it now?
But I would say this.
But even if it's not accurate, I still think there's going to be a lot of people who legitimately don't like the movie.
So sometimes you know when you like a movie, don't like a movie and you feel like you're being a little bit of a contrary.
And because you're like, oh, like for me, Phantom Thread, you guys know that's the movie I always go back to that I fucking couldn't stand.
Never saw it, yeah.
Okay, to me it was just so pretentious.
At this point, I don't even know whether I, if I saw it again, if I would like it or not,
I just know I was like doubling down, tripling.
I felt that we went to Guardians of Galaxy 2.
Right.
And if you rewatch it and you're like, okay, it's fine.
So some movies are like that for me.
This movie, I'm not trying to be a contrarian at all.
I genuinely think that it's the best Ant Man movie that they made.
And I really liked both of the other Ant Man movies.
And I think that it is so, such a great setup.
and such a great full three-act movie.
Like, I don't get it.
I'm missing.
Yes, see, it's weird for me because, like, I like it.
It's my, I think the first one's my favorite,
and then this one, and then the second one.
But I do get it, and I think that when I walked out,
I said that I saw it with my daughter, you know,
she really liked it a lot.
But I remember saying to myself, like, this ain't going to hit, right?
And I said it in my, for my out of the theater reaction,
it's going to hit for everybody.
And then she said that it played long, right?
Yeah, yeah.
I felt like this flu.
Like when we got to the end, when I could tell we were hitting like the, I was like,
whoa, we got there fast.
I don't even know how long the movie is.
It's a little over two hours.
Yeah, I didn't feel, remember, she's 11 years old and the, how could she say that?
The screening was, the screening was supposed to start at 6.30.
It started at 8.
Her bedtime is usually at 9.
She's not the only person I've heard, say, like, drags or, yeah,
say, I think, look, I thought that the first.
first half of it was strong, how they were set it up and how they, I liked that they just got
right into it. I enjoyed that. And then I did at one point, I'm looking and going, whoa, what,
there's a lot, Ellis loved it. And I even said to Ellis, it. Ellis said, that was a lot. It was a lot going
on. I was like, man, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, I thought it ended really nicely,
and I thought it set up for the future of a phase. And that was another issue. I think a lot of people
had is they thought that I saw a couple people say the same thing, that it seemed more of a set up piece for,
you know, Kang and how everything was going to play out in the next couple of movies,
then they did focus on Ant Man in general.
See that criticism.
I could see that.
I think that, but I do feel like it did focus more on Ant Man without giving any spoilers.
It doesn't focus on Evangeline Lilly much.
No, that's, I mean, that was the other thing.
It was like, it's called Ant Man and the Wasp.
She has stuff to do, but it's not Ant Man the Wasp.
It is if she's not the Wasp of the movie.
If Michelle Piper is the loss.
Right.
So I guess, yeah,
it's a good answer to how you look at it.
But honestly,
I think people are really off of Angeline Lilly right now.
And I was kind of happy that this wasn't like primary focus.
Yeah, but I like to separate.
This is the same time I like to separate it.
I totally get that.
Just like I,
sometimes I feel like in this movie,
I love Lost.
It's my fit.
You guys know I'm obsessed.
And I loved Evangeline Lily growing up.
I loved her.
I don't know.
I didn't get the sense in this movie
that she was like stoked to be there.
It seemed like she was,
I'm not checked out because she's always talented,
but like maybe it was the hair.
Maybe it was the whole thing.
I was just kind of like,
I'm glad she's not the centerpiece.
Yeah, I don't blame her though.
I just don't think they gave her enough to do.
I'm not blaming her.
Yeah.
I just, yeah, you just, yeah.
She was like irrelevant kind of in the movie.
I agree.
I think that,
I think that she has stuff to do for sure.
And there's an impact that she has for sure.
but she's a character in the movie.
She's not the centerpiece.
I think she was way more the centerpiece than the second one.
Whereas it was called Ant Man and the Wasp.
It felt like Ant Man in the Wasp.
This feels like the Wasp is in the movie, for sure.
And I think you make a great point.
If the Wasp is centered on Janet, sure,
but she's not wearing the suit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Anyway, so I'm very curious to hear what you guys think.
I know that the movie hasn't come out yet,
and we'll be doing a ton of spoiler footage,
on it when it does. I guess my question to you is this. Did you have, were you pumped to see this movie
and did review, our review is going to detract you from not seeing it? Or do you going in for your own
to see? Because I always get that thing too. People, there people have similar tastes and ideally,
well, I listen to you a lot of times because we have a very similar taste. And I always appreciate
that too. But I always say to judge for yourself for sure. I saw somebody go, well, you scored it
7.9. IGN scored at 7.1. So they say, and I go, look, hey, if you, if you take IGN and that's who your
your site is to go for it, absolutely. But judge for yourself. Totally. As well, too, it's like,
oh, they know. It's like, you should know. I don't judge it on what I say. You should go.
100%. Even the opposite of that. People will comment on my things being like, well,
because of your review, I'm going to love this movie. And it's like, that doesn't make any sense.
I understand what they mean, though,
and I am humbled by the fact that when someone says to me,
we have similar taste.
And if you say it's good,
I'm going to trust you because most times when you said that.
You're going to trust you to see it,
not trust you to love it.
That's the thing is that you,
and like I said to you,
this is one of those ones that if you came back to me and you go,
it was really loud and chaotic and it just didn't do it for me, man.
I get it.
I just,
that's kind of my cup of tea.
Somebody wrote on my review and said,
well, you liked Rise of Sky.
I'm not listening to you.
Right.
Well, that's what I mean.
You get silly things and then like, you know,
you always get those idiots that's like,
like, well, you get morons or somebody who's like,
I saw it today and just, you know,
you throw them out by their pants out of the store.
Someone goes, oh, no, I guess safe, chill review.
And I said, hey, dumb, dumb, have you not watched?
Like, I take a shit on Thor Love and Thunder's face
every chance I get.
It's a terrible movie.
It's terrible.
It gets worse every time I think about it.
And Dr. Strange,
not that great. Last Jedi, also Disney movie, terrible.
I talk about things that I hate all the time with these things.
If you want to just have your own political agenda,
you know, stick a spoon up your ass and then go stir your own tea in your backyard,
you know, shave your head and go to sleep.
It's also interesting that they remember.
Like sometimes I'll see people say, take some of mind on movies and they're like,
well, you felt this way about this thing and you feel.
Yeah, that comes with the job.
I'm like, wow, did I?
Yeah, right.
It wasn't that deep to me.
Right.
It comes with the job.
But it's like, but what I would tell you,
is this. If you're actually like a level-headed human being with most people on this channel who
watch these shows have been, at least their comments, your people are dope. Comments are great,
aren't they? I told you. You guys at home are fucking good. This is a sweet audience so far.
I really look. It's my favorite of the audiences with you so far. Do you know why that is, though, I think,
I'll be honest. I think it's because we talk to them as much as we do. And I think that they feel
appreciated, and I think that they feel like they can have actual conversations with people. I think a lot
of times, and it's been harder for me because there's a lot of comments, and it's a great problem
to have. But I try to go in there and talk to everybody, too, because I do too. Because, because,
Because I think that YouTube people don't do that as much.
And it's one of the things that started with YouTube in general is that they like to interact.
They like to have conversations.
And they feel appreciated that they're commenting on your videos.
That's why we've been getting more comments.
And I think that if someone has a conversation with you and you say something and when it's presented respectfully and the fact that like, look, man, look, you said you're going to like it.
I went.
And man, this one just didn't do it for me.
And here's why.
I really look forward to those comments because it's like, okay, well, what didn't you like about it?
I didn't like it because this is totally, totally get it.
You know, hopefully the next one does it for you.
Boom, boom, boom.
It's the, like, I have no problem now,
and I don't care if it takes me longer to get to a certain goal on subscribers.
I, I mute words.
I hide people from channels.
They're looking for,
that's why you don't see as many, too,
because people looking for fights,
a lot of their comments don't even make the main page
because I've muted certain words and I hide them from the channel and they're gone
because, and it's not criticism.
Criticism is always welcomed on this channel.
Real criticism.
I hate the comment.
I hate the most.
Instructive criticism.
Like when someone doesn't know it,
you just can't take criticism.
Criticism isn't you suck.
Yeah.
And this is bullshit and you shield.
That's not criticism.
That's just name calling.
Criticism is,
hey,
I saw what you did in the way that you broke down this.
I don't actually agree with that because I think that this is happening here.
And I actually really like that.
And hey,
criticism is something like this where,
hey,
there's a guy who comments sometimes.
He's like a tech guy.
And he goes,
hey,
some of the cameras, you could potentially do this because I think it takes away from here
and the sound sometimes is this and that.
That's constructive criticism.
That's something that's helpful.
That's something that can be in a conversation.
I love healthy debate.
I love sitting down and having a conversation with people.
And that's why I think this audience is my favorite audience as well, too, that I've done
because they're respectful, they're fun.
You get turds here and there.
But for the most part, it's a really great audience.
And thank you guys for everybody out there who's been commenting respectfully and putting in your
thoughts and comments.
It doesn't be a love fest.
I don't want a love fest here.
No.
I was pleasantly surprised when we moved over here and I was a little nervous about it.
Because remember, not nervous in terms of I wouldn't do it.
Because remember, I got fucking destroyed at Collider.
Oh, you're right.
I mean, every single day.
And, like, if somebody's going to get destroyed, I'm a good person to get destroyed because I keep it pushing.
But it's not fun.
No, it's not fun.
I can take it.
But at some point, you're like, why am I doing this show of everyone fucking?
hates me. Well, it's also part of moderating, right? That's why, like I said, I go in and I make sure that there's certain things. Like, it's just not going to, it's not going to make the cut. So if you want to spend the time and you want to spend like the time putting in insults and everything too, two things are guaranteed. One, your comment probably won't even make it because there's words that are already blocked out that it's going to put your right to spam or I'm going to see it and I'm going to delete it and it's going to be gone. You spend all that time for the hate when it's like, and again, like I said, I'm reiterating. It's, it's.
It's not, and not criticism.
It's, it's just name-calling.
And there's not a lot of it.
There really isn't.
Like, I was, I was really shocked.
Like, you know, I always just expect, whenever a Marvel movie or DC movie comes out,
you're expecting a lot of the stupid trolley kind of comments to come.
I was shocked with how little there were that I had to delete or even find in the spam.
There were maybe 10.
On what?
On the Ant-Man, non-spoiler review.
Which is, which is a good ratio, maybe even less.
What you're really good at is not letting 10 feel like 10,000.
You're excellent.
But that took a while.
That took a while.
And I think that because now it's like, now it's, when it first started, I wasn't used to it.
And now when you look at it, it's just like, it's almost like when you're in the kitchen and you're enjoying a really good sandwich and a fly comes in.
It's like, you just let the fly.
Just let the fly.
It just goes away.
And you can try to chase it around and get mad.
Let it.
Sometimes it's really annoying.
Just let the fly go away.
Just a fly.
But what if it's a hair in your sandwich?
You throw out the whole sandwich?
or not?
What,
I mean,
depends on where you are.
It depends on where you are.
In your own kitchen.
Keep going.
And it's the same thing.
Like I look,
because now it's just like,
it's just,
it's just noise.
It's just noise now.
It's like,
I still,
I had somebody like,
and this was the harder part.
Two or three weeks ago,
I had somebody bring up my,
like my brother again,
say something really bad about my brother
who passed on.
It was on Twitter.
It said something like really bad,
but I was so happy with myself
that I went,
oh, okay,
muted the person,
moved on.
Yeah.
And I was like, because it's like that is just an angry person.
You mute, you don't block?
Not anymore.
I used to block all the time because I feel muting.
Blocking gives them a win.
I feel like they get, because when you block somebody,
they tweet about it and how excited they are, mute they never know it.
I like to block because I don't like them to be fighting with other people on my shit.
Yeah, I know.
But if you block it, though, they get that victory.
Yeah, they might get the victory, but it's just like so annoying sometimes that people like.
Yeah, muting.
I've been muting.
I mute tons of people now because it's just like, you know, I've muted people that we work with.
Yeah, that I would mute too.
If you don't do something horrible, I just don't feel like hearing.
Yeah, there's some people sometimes just like, this is just too much for me.
But the blocking has been so helpful for me.
I didn't use to do that.
Now I block so many people because like the anti-Semitism shit that I did is like fucking crazy.
And I just don't even want it on my wall.
Like even if I can't see it.
I just don't even want them responding to the other people.
Yeah, they'll go.
I'll be talking about the.
The flash, and they'll be talking about fucking shoes.
And it's like, what?
That's the part of, that's the internet.
That's why, but, look, one thing I can tell you that you don't ever have to worry about.
And that's ever worrying about to shave your beard.
Don't worry about that anymore.
You can do it nicely.
You can do it nicely.
You shave your beard, you do it well, and you do it with the new beard hedger.
You know, what's the beard hedger.
True. They once again, they are revolutionizing men's grooming with a brand new beardheader

I'm happy for you.
Thank you so much.
I'm more happy for everybody who has to look at you.
Oh, thank you.
That's very nice.
Look at you.
All right, look, let's do one more story, and then we'll call it a day.
Can we do that?
Yeah.
All right.
Give me one.
So we got, we have, we did Ant Man and we did Spielberg.
What do you want?
I think it's got to be fast.
We've talked a little bit about fast so far, but I mean, this just was.
The trailer hit, it hit big, and it did really, really well.
Oh, I flapped Christian.
It was so good.
Okay, I'm glad that you.
I still haven't seen the ninth one.
I got to watch that before I watched the 10th one.
Oh, no shit.
No, I never saw it.
Never saw it.
So you were still doing COVID protocol, so you missed the screening.
I missed the screening of it.
And then they sent, I had the unopened Blu-ray somewhere.
It's still be on that shelf over there.
I'll just never forget that feeling.
That was going back to that screening, and I had a beer during it.
And I'm just sitting there in the screen.
And watching fast with my corona, drinking it, thinking like,
life is good again.
So I don't know how the movie actually was,
but what I'll tell you is,
is the best movie I ever saw.
What?
Oh, because you were...
I have no idea how the movie actually was.
It was just the best movie I ever saw.
I understood.
All right, well, let's talk about this here.
Here's the fast trailer.
Here's what it did.
It did really good.
Universal Pictures actually announced
that the extended length first trailer,
trailer 4 Fast 10 debuted on Friday last week.
It's been a smash hit.
That trailer for the 10th mainline entry
in the Fast and Furious franchise.
It pulled in roughly 295 million views globally
in the first 72 hours of availability, according to variety.
The studio pushed hard on the trailer promotion
announcing the launch weeks ahead of the time
and releasing a series of legacy trailers
since the start of February commemorating each of the previous nine films.
They also hosted a trailer launch event in downtown Los Angeles last Thursday,
featuring appearances from the cast.
Other fan events were held in Mexico, France, and Japan.
The trailer came ahead of a 30-6th,
second commercial, which aired during Super Bowl on Sunday.
It is, it serves as the first of a two-parter closing out the main franchise and then
yeah, yeah, yada.
Anyway, so it did really well rocks.
Can you believe that this movie has the star, like, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren.
Bree Larson, Helen Mirren.
I'm not even talking.
Jason State.
Like, it's just like, when you're watching the trailer, you're like, this is a, I mean, the
cast is it's nuts it's insane yeah on top of that it just looks so good the i fall for these movies
so hard and i feel like if you don't you have a huge stick up your ass like these are the
movies that it's a movie it's a movie like it's a fucking movie i can't wait for this it will be fun no matter
what the one thing i'll say about the trailer yes that i was surprised by uh is that you know in the
last ones we get the sense we're going to space and get all these things what is the fast x
big thing yeah i'm not sure but i have it's okay they didn't show us no but i have news for
stephen speleberg is available his office call back yeah are you going to call him stevo
hold on let me see if he's available still he said he was going to be around what did he mean
by that comment i don't know i'm going to ask him he's a lot of times he um hello stephen
are you? Sorry, I'm just eating lunch over here. This is fantastic. Always great to hear from you.
Oh, listen, I'm honored that you were able to take the call. Listen, so we just listened to your comments with Tom Cruise and you said that you'd, that Tom Cruise and Tom kind of saved the box offices or the industry's ass. Can you elaborate on that, sir?
Yeah, well, I mean, everything could have gone to ship. I mean, people, listen, nobody saw West Side Story. Did you go see West Side Story?
I did. I mean, you might be the only one. I think you really want to.
I saw Westlake-aw-aw-up,
wonderful motion picture.
But nobody saw it.
So, you know,
nobody was going to the movies,
COVID,
saw a bunch of bullshit,
shutting out of the theater.
Tom Cruise makes a great movie.
puts the asses of the seats.
It's fantastic.
Wonderful.
He did,
but, you know,
my co-host,
Roxy Stryer here had said,
had said a good point.
You know,
you're up against him.
The Fableman's is up against him
in Best Picture.
What happens if Top Gun Maverick beats out the Fableman's for Best Picture?
How would you feel about this?
Well, I think it's great.
I mean, I've made a picture I want to make a very personal picture.
I think, you know, very happy with the work to be done.
It's wonderful performances for everybody's a picture.
But I think Top Gun is an entertaining movie.
It's the kind of movie I used to make, you know, like Raiders.
It's the kind of film that, you know, you get a big bucket of popcorn
and you sit there on your stuff your face with it.
There's just no message to you.
There's no agenda.
It's just guys flying jets.
It's guys, you know, oiled up and playing volleyball or whatever.
It's what people want to see.
Right.
I would hear, I would see two hours at,
people playing volleyball.
Just men all greasy and oiled up with their chest out playing volleyball.
It should be a fantastic picture.
Rumor is that that's your next picture.
I'm going to direct Top Gun 3, which is just, it's actually 3 and a half hour.
Well, okay, it's attached out of the bag.
And Christian, you know, I love you, this isn't exclusive.
Thank you.
I'm announcing here that we've just finished a 3 and a half hour cut of Top Front 3.
And it's called Volleyball.
Wow.
It's a little kind of a pun.
It's a little bit of a pun there, but it's been great.
Three and a half hours of guys with their.
shirts off. This one's for the ladies.
And I think it's going to do very well. I think it's been doing very well.
Well, listen, how do I top that?
Stephen, thank you so much for calling in.
I know you're very busy. Apparently shooting
volleyballs. So thank you.
Very busy. Well, as you know, we're editing
the movie and I'm shooting another movie at the same time
we're doing ET2.
I always shoot a movie and edit a movie
at the same time. E2 and volleyball.
So this is going to come out next summer. It's going to be great.
So Magic, Mike, move over.
I'm just kidding.
I love Magic.
It's a wonderful movie.
Thank you so much, Christian. You're the bet.
Thank you, Stephen.
Nice to have you.
Okay, bye-bye.
Thank you, bye, guys.
God damn it.
Let's cut this thing.
It looks like shit.
Come on.
This is bullshit.
Oh, I don't think you wanted us to hear that.
It's the great Stephen Spielberg, ladies and gentlemen.
I appreciate it.
Yeah, it was really nice to have Steve-O on the show.
Incredible.
Are you going to review volleyball or now?
Of course.
I think Brett's been like that one.
I think so, too.
Brett's at stand-up the other day, and I posted it on the channel.
How did it go?
It went good.
He was very manic energy.
I'll tell you, though, as much.
You can see Brett said it's on the channel right now.
You should check it out for sure.
I have to before I would be very upset with myself if I didn't.
So I did stand-up comedy, you know, for a very long time.
It was my life.
And what I did when I was there, I would go and I'd watch comedians.
And it was very hard for me in general to like sit down and watch full sets a lot of the times
because I was just very ante and I would get up and I move.
And there was certain comedians that I, my body told me, don't move.
you've got to watch this and Sebastian was probably like the last person I remember
I would always watch Sebastian stuff and I would always just and there was other people
I'm not that I didn't appreciate everybody's stuff I always didn't I was a couple jokes I would watch
and then I would leave because I would get kind of same way you'll see me you see me in a comedy
maybe you have it I'm just I'm always moving and it just it's just how I get like so the other
at flapper's the same I this doesn't count for like say Brett and Kate because
I'm when I'm watching them I'm I'm trying to help them and we help each other with sets and
stuff too but I saw this kid and I say kid because he's younger than me but he's been doing
comedy for like 10 years apparently and his distance his name's opi but it's opi yemi um
olig baju and he he just goes by opi this kid's brilliant really brilliant he was on the show
with the guys brilliant Kate and I were like who the fuck is this kid um opi opi so yeah and you can
he's going to come on the big thing.
I already asked him.
I want to meet him.
Yeah.
He is a very special talent.
Did you tell him that?
Not to that extent.
I just told him I was a fan of what he did.
But like there are very few comedians that kind of moved me in the way that he did.
Yes.
He is a, he is, I mean, his stuff that he just was on stage, he was really just cool, calm and collected, chill.
and smart.
Interesting.
Most of the stand-ups
that I know follow him.
Okay.
Like,
and you always know
if stand-up follows somebody
and they think...
He's just,
he was so smart.
Some of his jokes and edgy,
but in a way,
he had like a real crisp rock vibe
about him too,
but like,
but,
but, you know,
rocks kind of,
like,
can get really energetic
and he was really chill.
And his clips on,
on Instagram
weren't the same energy.
Maybe it was because it was,
you know,
he'd just fit his energy.
for the room. There was only 40 people or so in this room, but he knew how to maneuver it.
I was, I was really impressed by him.
I want to know more about him, but I want to instead know more about you.
What happened?
How was the actual show?
The set was great. The set was great.
They seemed really engaged.
Yeah, I think I'm going to put that clip of the communications for the audience.
I'll put that up on the channel, and I'm putting little ones on there.
Like the Waffle House thing I did really worked well too.
but it was good to have like a smaller crowd because brett and i was driving over brett was so nervous
and i go dude you just got to trade it the same way you do on big thing like he was nervous as
and he was nervous and brett gets nervous and ken ken was there can you don't get nervous
not not to that extent no because not because when i when i go now i'm it's it's going to work
in a fun way right and it's going to like well i need to try this i want to try that i got to read the
room.
You're saying it's going to work as in it's going to work as it's going to work as you're
going to a job.
And I have to, and if I let my nervousness be involved in part of that process, I'm not
going to get my work done because I have, I'm not telling you don't have the natural
butterflies.
That's part of the thing, though, too.
And that doesn't come right away.
It's just maybe been doing it for a while.
And like, I went up and I was like, okay, what's the vibe?
You got to read.
There's so many variables I go into.
You got to vibe the room.
You got to understand, like, what's, who you're playing to, what audience.
And you learned something every single time.
Like the last time I went up on this show,
I went and I did a set and I was like,
oh, I played to, you were there.
And I played to an audience.
And it was a fine set,
but it was like I played to an audience with certain jokes
that had I done a little bit more research,
I probably would have played differently.
And I actually went-
Because of the age demo and like the marriage, whatever you.
You got to listen.
And that's just a matter of listening to the crowd beforehand,
looking at the comic that goes up before you
and pay attention and do all that.
But it's also the other thing.
I watched that set that you were at.
and I watched it and I changed my vibe like from what the last one was.
I said it was good and what I said,
but I felt like it was a little bit more grouchy on that one.
And I want to play more the stuff that like when I,
and I listen to this,
again,
listening to this audience here,
the bits that work the best with us is when,
like,
even the communication,
it's when we're goofing around and we're have fun and we're laughing
and we're laughing at ourselves.
And like,
that's the vibe that I got to bring to it because that's the vibe that I enjoy doing.
And like,
you can do the same jokes.
You know,
I did the,
I reworked.
the joke about the kids the teenagers in love remember that one
just basically oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I just I reworked it made it fun
added a little to it got you and it worked and it worked really well so it was uh so yeah
it's just it's just a matter of paying attention to it but Brett but Ken was there because
him was doing a set at flappers in the other room and he was there and oh he was up also he didn't
go up he he went up in a different room in flappers not the same show we were at but he
I didn't know there were multiple rooms yeah and he came up and he was and he watched
Brett and myself and then he came in and Brett was telling him
nervous he was and he said just you're funny dude just do your thing and he and brett and i and we were
watching brett and he and if you can see the set it's up on the channel now and he was brett was manic
and even after the set came out i was it's funny brett's like oh i don't know if you should put that up
it's not uh it it felt like it was funnier on stage and i'm like it's funny dude it's funny and
and so he just he's got that that that's that thing a lot of comedians have but ken was like ken
ken looks at me as brett's up there and he goes you can't teach people that energy
that you can teach people structure or anything but you can't teach people that
the Brett what Brett has yeah Brett just has that thing where he's just like Brett like you
watch this set and Brett at one point like you know he just even when he knows that he's
forgotten something and he just because does this weird dance that only Brett can do or
does a weird voice only Brett can do and and he's funny he's just a funny person so um is that what
like does he because I know you've talked about really getting back into stand up and like
really focusing there. Is that what his plan is?
I think Brett wants to do it more as we do our tour. So that's great transition here.
Here, as I was telling you, as we're approaching 70,000, but we're really going into a live
show. And here's what I'm going to be doing. And I want to give you guys an update on it.
So I had a really great meeting with some great people that I've worked with in the past,
and I'm going to be working with in the future. And what we're going to be doing is going to build
out the Christian Harlov website. And inside that, we're going to, very,
eventually kind of push away from a lot of the things that we do on Patreon and push that over
to the website alone because what we want to do is offer all that stuff that we offer on Patreon.
So if you're on Patreon, you move over.
You're basically getting the same thing.
But we're also going to offer new things for people who don't want to be monthly,
but they want to be able to watch the, when we're going to go to, we're going to New York
in June.
And we're going.
And what I want to do is offer.
You'll be going, I think, on that one, maybe.
Maybe.
I got to see the budget.
but yeah, you're going.
But anyways, the point is, though, when we go to these things and, like, the live
podcast version, if I want to stream that, that you guys, if you can't, well, I don't, I live in,
I live in London.
Again, I want to see it.
Well, you can go to the website now and you can just go and you can, I think it'll be like
$4.95 or something.
You can watch the whole thing.
Maybe not the stand-up part, but the podcast part of it, right?
And then, but there's going to be other things that we offer, but we want to do more shows.
And we're going to, we've also put like the ticketing for the, for the live shows up there.
I think that the goal is this.
And there's nothing set in stone yet, but the goal is this.
Live show in Los Angeles, probably at Flappers in, like, April.
At Flappers.
That's cool.
I think so, yeah.
I think that's where we're going to try to do the first one.
Then New York Comedy Club in Manhattan, which will probably be the one that you're on.
And the next night in Stanford, Connecticut.
Oh, cool.
And then the goal is to look at it.
at either Florida or Texas or, I mean, really we're going to, that's the other thing with this
website, by the way, is we're going to start to like get data from you guys and say like,
if we came to your city, where would you want us to go?
What happened to Boston?
If Boston turns out to be.
What happened to?
Hello?
Yeah.
If Boston turns out to be one of the places that requests us the most, we'll go.
We'll go.
Yeah, I know.
Give me my camera.
But that's it.
Give me my camera.
Hello, Boston.
I see you guys.
every time he says something right, Boston, Boston, Boston.
If you don't, we won't get there.
I am not enough.
Boston, Boston, Boston, Boston.
You have to respond.
Thank you.
I like what you're doing.
So that will be.
I want to go home, maybe.
Listen, that'll be a thing eventually.
So, I don't know.
It's close.
It's close.
But all right.
So much that we talked about here.
Thank you guys so much.
There will be more details with that site and everything as we get closer.
But once again, just a reminder that if you are,
our Patreon, we're going to eventually start like kind of, we won't shut down Patreon, but we're going to be, a lot of the things that we do and offer on Patreon will be from the website.
We just think it's easier.
And I know a lot of people have been like, why don't you just start your own website?
That's what we're doing.
So, thank you guys so much for joining us over here.
Really appreciate you.
Really appreciate Roxy for being here and joining us as always.
Thank you guys so much.
Make sure you comment.
Go and check out Brett Set.
Give them a little encouragement over there and let them know if you watch it.
Appreciate you so much.
And Roxy, where can the kids find you?
Everywhere at Roxy Stryor.
Or in always Lola.
That's right.
We'll see it soon.
Hell yeah, girl.
And for me, you can find, I'm going to put that bit up for the communication issues.
We'll bring that up there in just a little bit.
All right.
Thank you, everybody.
Appreciate you.
It's Roxy Stryer and me.
We'll see you on the flip side.
Peace out, everybody.
