Starting point is 00:00:00 Your sales order says one thing. Your inventory says another. Your spreadsheet says good luck. O-Doo brings your business together on a single platform. From sales and accounting to inventory and marketing, visit Odu.com to book a demo. It's ODOO.O.com. The influencers were supposed to not go to Odyssey screenings. Well, that wasn't true.
Starting point is 00:00:22 They already had the screenings. So why even make the announcement? Why do that? Is it the studio's fault that there's this? really war. We are potentially going to be joined by Strawahawk. At least we thought we were, but not ever yet. Right now it's going to be me and Winston. And if Juju joins, it'd be great, but don't have them at the moment. So we will be talking about that, should he join? If he doesn't, we're going to be talking about there's a rumor, Marvel Phase 7 movie. It's a sequel or
Starting point is 00:00:56 revival. There's a comic book movie thing about that. Danny McBride was on our buddy. Josh Harowitz's show, and he's talking about G.I. Joe. And he said some things that made me very happy. Talk about that. There's some more updates on the Supergirl box office. That and more on the show today with myself and Winston A. Marshall. Let's get into it, everybody. It's Christian Arloff show. Here we go. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to the show. It's the Friday show here. almost 4th of July. Hope everybody's going to have some fun. Joining me on the show, every Friday.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Winston A. Marshall is here. What's up, dude? How are you? Hey, man. Happy 4th. I figure this seems like the most appropriate, you know, a holiday shirt to wear. So I'm good, man. I'm good. I leave for vacation as soon as the show is over. So I am. Where are you going? I do an annual Palm Springs trip with some friends to be around the 4th. So, no, it's good.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Like, the woman who, who my home girl, who puts this thing on, like, she does themes for each part of the of the day. So, like, I have an 80s, like, jazzer-sized outfit with the full Jerry curl going. Bro, this shit is hilarious. I'll send you a picture of it later. Yeah, please do. The, I don't know how hot it is there, but it's, it doesn't be bad. It was a heat wave here right now. And it's, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Dude, didn't it like in the hundreds up there? It's, no, it's, it's close. I went, I went outside just. throw out the trash just now and it was like like that bring you to your knees type heat. Yeah. Yeah. I grew up in that heat. That's I know. That'll put some hair on your chest. It was brutal. It was brutal.
Starting point is 00:02:51 But you know, it's funny is that the last time I was in heat like that and I talked about this many times over was when I went to see F1. Do you remember this story? Wasn't the AC out? Yeah, the AC broke and they gave us fans. No, I remember.
Starting point is 00:03:09 remember that because you were like, it was a way to see a movie because I really liked the movie, but I was pissed off the whole time. Well, no, it wasn't pissed off, but I was like, you know, I said I would have been pissed off if the movie was bad. And if the movie was bad, because I was, I was definitely uncomfortable, but I liked the movie so much that it kept me in my seat. And they gave us free food and free food and unlimited free drink. You got to do something. Smart, which was smart on their part for sure. But I bring up. the F1 thing for a reason. I don't know, Winston, you heard this,
Starting point is 00:03:46 but Jody Foster was talking about F1 yesterday. Did you hear this? I did not. Okay, so check this out. Jody Foster says that F1 questions and said, it was made by AI, wasn't it? What? That's what she says.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Speaking about how Hollywood has changed over the years this week, celebrated actress filmmaker Jody Foster says that the recent Brad Pitt-led F-1 film felt as if it could have been made by AI. Appearing on Tuesday at the Aspen Festival or ideas for a talk title, Who Owns the Future of Hollywood with former Sony Picture CEO Michael Linton, the talk of AI came up. According to Variety, she said that AI has one more giant step forward into changing the industry after talking about the changes to the movie business she saw that have been brought about VFX and digital technology. She said then that F1 was a film that felt like it could have been made by AI. I don't
Starting point is 00:04:37 say this sparingly. How could I? The movie went on to make millions of dollars, but I look at a movie like F1 and I'm like F1 was made by AI, wasn't it? I mean, the structure was exactly the structure that you would learn in school. The actors were saying the lines exactly the way that it would be if it were written by computer was writing exactly what would be the right thing for that time. And they were able to dominate the technology to make something big and beautiful and potentially where a lot of the information comes from other places. Linton asked if she thinks AI is going to replace actors. and writers. Foster says we do replace people already, pointing to how studios save money on
Starting point is 00:05:12 crowds scenes by replicating background actors. She adds, the industry is currently getting rid of a lot of jobs and hopefully things like unions will be able to come in and say, you can use my actor 20 times, but you're going to have to pay him 20 times, and I think that's fair. Rather than try and outright reject the tech, Foster says that the hope is filmmakers never lose sight, that it's a tool that can be used for small helpful things and never let it take hold of the wheel. What we all would love is that filmmakers would be able to dominate AI and never lose sight of that. If we were able to dominate AI consistently over time, we will be able to make things that reflect us and make things better. Though hardly the critical and cultural juggernaut that was Top Gun Maverick,
Starting point is 00:05:50 Joseph Kaczynski's F1 proved a hit last year, landing some of the best reviews of a major studio film, a Best Picture nomination, and Oscar win for a $634 million for a wide total. So I think this is look the interesting thing with this is that Jody Foster is saying is that well the positive side of what she's saying is that she's not basically and she even says it. I'm not saying disparately. She's looking and she's like there are things in there and she's kind of like backhandedly saying they used it right. They did it in a way where they used it right but they're already, you know, they're already doing it in big studio films. the negative is you don't know that for a fact so you shouldn't say that unless you know it for a fact
Starting point is 00:06:37 and then you should say that you know it for a fact because that's accusatory that sounds like that is nothing but like a it's not a backhanded compliment it sounds like you talk a shit it sounds like you like you know that generic piece of shit that came out that that's what it sounds like when you when you're like
Starting point is 00:06:57 yeah the AI I mean the actors moved exactly how they What if a computer did it? The writing was exactly if a computer did it. That did not sound like a, man, look at technology. It sounded like your movie was shit, but it made money. So whatever. I mean, the way that she's talked about like the actors delivering that kind of dialogue and things of that nature that, yeah, it was just like,
Starting point is 00:07:17 you know, it seems like what computer dialogue would be. You're basically, if it's not AI, you're basically saying that the screenwriter sucks. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You said the screenwriter sucks. And you said the director sucks because he directed the actors to act that way. Right. I know like that, that was not a compliment.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Listen, if AI wrote that movie, good for AI because I like that movie. If AI wrote it, then I'm actually even more angry because now I'm like, fuck, we might be in trouble. Because the whole thing at the bare minimum has been that it's, it has not been good. It's been all slop. So like if that. That's the thing, though. I talk to people about this deal. I think that's the problem is that people right away,
Starting point is 00:07:59 they'll jump onto that word and they use that word right away. And what they also don't realize is what you could do, what people could do. And this is essentially what Jody Foster is saying. You could say, all right, sit down, I'm going to work with chat, GPT, and chat. Here's my ideas and thoughts that I have for this particular movie. These are the characters I have.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Write me a script. And the script is just 90 or 120 pages and it's got stuff in there that no one in the world would know, Everyone would know that it was a computer that wrote it. It is the screenwriter that could say, well, that sounds ridiculous. What if this happened and working off that blueprint, you know that's happening. I'm sure that that has happened at one point or another. It's happening often.
Starting point is 00:08:48 I'm not, I'm not, yes, I'm not going to sit here and pretend like somebody hasn't done that because like the funny thing is the people that I know that are the most anti-AI and not even necessarily just in the film industry, just as like a general whole, are using Claude and chat GPT more than ever. They'll be the first one to say, this is going to be terrible. And then like, I just use Claude to write my entire
Starting point is 00:09:11 business proposal. Like, I'm sure it's happening. What I worry about, though, again, just based off of the speed at which a lot of this is happening, I've always been worried about companies abusing it as a means to get rid of jobs and all that kind of stuff. And then I've also been worried about in all honesty, we're already seeing the ramifications of what it's doing to students
Starting point is 00:09:33 and how it's actually affecting people in school and how rapidly they're using it. That my concern is just we're going to atrophy an ability as a society that we've done. We're going to atrophy the ability to actually write scripts and act and things like that if we genuinely just allow the technology to just move at the pace that it's going. That is what that's what I'm worried about. I'm with her though on the tool side of it. Like if you're you the problem is I don't trust humans, but I the thing is I I think having it as a tool, using it as a tool touching things up doing things that you know you can save time, save money for.
Starting point is 00:10:09 I understand it. I get it. Not everybody will, but more and more people are coming around to it a little bit more. And that's what is that's what's going to happen. And we've said this many times over. There's going to be many people feet in the ground. Never, never, never, never. They will be phased out eventually.
Starting point is 00:10:26 And it might, and it might not be, in 20 years, it might not be in 30 years. It might not be in 50 years. But eventually the way that this, look at the way that, dude, you remember when we were talking about this in my garage? And when it was just starting to be a thing. And that was what? How many years ago? You know, two, three years ago. And now, and now that, look at what they're doing with it already.
Starting point is 00:10:51 I've seen some shit so far. I told you, the one that I saw, this, the, there was this one that they did for, friends this video and it was scary how how like almost there were a couple of things here and there that was like oh i caught it but for the most part it it was the less the least robotic out of anything i've seen so far because a lot of times you know i see the star wars ones and it's like oh we won why did you send me into this cave because i had to oh i hope no one catches me here and it's like there's no emotion to it right this friend's one it was it was it was It was nuts.
Starting point is 00:11:27 I've seen a few that have been, that I've been like, oh, boy. As far as that's going. And again, I, it's funny. It sounds like it's only something that I, you know, oh, because you're, because you act or you're a filmmaker, things like that. You're just scared of that whole situation taking your job. But, like, again, my concern, like you said, is it's not, I'm so worried that AI is going to become this magical thing that can make a flawless movie and put out
Starting point is 00:11:59 the type of stuff like the godfather or anything else like that it's not that's not that's not even remotely what i'm worried about i'm legitimately worried about people and i just we've seen this happen again and again and again and again you were going to do this and then studios will literally go great then i don't need any of you and you and they're just going to make whatever they want and again the problem is unless everybody ends up on the same page to acknowledge this isn't nearly as good or we want something, you know, based off of people working and not just being fed whatever. It's just going to happen. And again, it's not specific to this industry. We're already seeing people losing their jobs or and whatnot in all sorts of stuff.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Like I have a bunch of friends who are coders who at this point have been, they're like, if you're not vibe coding with AI, then we don't need you as engineers anymore. They're fully just getting rid of people's jobs like that. And that to me is crazy. It's like, yeah, it's just like, you know, it's, unfortunately, we got it, it's here. You can't, you can't do it. You got to, it is one of those things. You might not like it. People got to join the, got to join it now because it's just, I think that we're using
Starting point is 00:13:05 it dangerous and dangerous ways already. But I think that, look, you look at the other side of it on the business side, when it comes to studio costs when you're running a business, whether you like it or not, you look at something like Supergirl, you look at something like a Mandalorian and Grogo. And the money that they spent on both of those movies that didn't have big cast in general and on the effects and other things that if down the line, they're like, you know what, those, we spent $60 million extra on that movie that we didn't need to spend that we could have done with AI and we maybe wouldn't, wouldn't have lost an additional, you know, $30 to $40 million had we done that. You can see the rationale. It sucks for the people involved and it sucks for the people for the job thing. but it's also and it and you could then put the blame back on those people and saying well stop making
Starting point is 00:13:58 shit you know start making some good some good things that people want to see because there's there's there's just shit out there and then you look do you watch obsession you saw obsession yeah yeah it's great it is i i mean but like that's the thing if you would just like you said if you would focus on actually making good movies and stop letting budgets get that inflated you know what i mean like I understand, obviously, the agents of it all and everything else. If what your concern is, because, like, me and you have talked about this, I think, a couple times when we do talk sports about how, like, quarterback contracts or even baseball contracts have just gotten out of control.
Starting point is 00:14:35 I understand there's this level of, like, once you've opened that door, you kind of can't close it back. But if the scenario is, it's too much than as a general whole, then just stop allowing the market to be set that way. So if that's the case, if Robert Dutton Jr's like, I'm only doing it for $12 million, you're like, bro, we'll do it for you with 10. Stop, stop, cowtowing to that and then hold the line instead of this whole idea of,
Starting point is 00:15:00 well, the budget for this was $300 million. Why did you let it get to $300 million? What are you doing that you allow that to happen? I know the cost of the world have gone up, but like still look at the number of movies you can do for that cheap. Like obsession was able to be done with $750. Yeah. Summer's coming around.
Starting point is 00:15:15 I like taking long walks with the family. there's a lot going on with camps with my family, tons of stuff, which try to stay active during the summer, especially. So whether you are on the go, staying hydrated, it really is a key to enjoying all the extra sunshine. That's where liquid IV comes in, man. I always have a packet for me.
Starting point is 00:15:33 I have a packet for me when I go to the gym. And especially when we did this big barbecue the other day, the dad, it was getting hot outside. It's just amazing. I like the cotton candy side of it. I like the orange vanilla dream. And it's just refractive. I really dig it.
Starting point is 00:15:50 So just one stick, 16 ounces of water hydrates faster than water alone. It's got an optimized ratio of electrolytes. It's got essential vitamins and clinically tested nutrients that turn ordinary water into extraordinary hydration. Now, when you compare it to water, liquid IV delivers long-lasting hydration, and it retains hydration. We're up to four hours. That's the thing I love about it the most.
Starting point is 00:16:12 It's also great because it's backed by a scientific advisory board with world-renowned researchers to conduct clinical research and trials. Got eight essential vitamins and nutrients, always non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free. So if you want to stay hydrated while you're on the go this summer, do it with Liquid IV. You just tear it, you pour it, you live more, you go to LiquidIV.com and you get 20% off your first purchase when you use that code Christian at checkout. That's 20% off your first purchase with Christian at Liquidiv.com. I've been talking about them forever. Give it a shot. You will enjoy it. You will. will feel better. Liquid IV. It's the bomb. Your sales order says one thing. Your inventory says
Starting point is 00:16:51 another. Your spreadsheet says good luck. O-Doo brings your business together on a single platform. From sales and accounting to inventory and marketing, visit Odu.com to book a demo. It's O'DOO.com. It's true. It's true. So, um. Or minions, you talked about that yesterday. Minions cost what, 40? No, not 40, but like something like 80 or 80 or 80 or 90, something less than, way less than it should have. And I'll tell you, the thing is, even watching those movies, though, especially animation, I'm not going to lie there. A. A couple times and I'm like, I wonder if they, if they used AI.
Starting point is 00:17:27 I wouldn't be surprised. Right. And like, Toy Story and other things. And like, because my daughter asked me one person, they do you use AI? And I'm like, no. And I'm like, the honest answer is I don't know. You think no. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:38 I don't know. I don't know. Like animation is the one where it's like the easiest to do now. and you're talking about animators probably understandably. You know, it's funny because I have a friend, his daughter is incredibly talented artist. And, you know, I don't think she's going to school. She's taking art classes and stuff too,
Starting point is 00:17:59 but they're not, but she's not really going down that route. And I was listening to it. And, you know, I'm traditionally more like the dreamer and the idea of going after it. Like, don't just hit the traditional ways. But he said something in that conversation. You know, with AI and everything,
Starting point is 00:18:11 it's just so much harder to be an artist. I was like, it's very true. which is to me is insane. I know. Because the whole thing, the whole premise that they came out with when they first started introducing AIs, it's going to be able to take care of the things that you have to do so that you can do the things that you run it to you. Like that was,
Starting point is 00:18:28 that was literally what they were pitching it as was the idea of more of us to be artists and dreamers. And it wasn't supposed to be so it could replace us doing art. It was supposed to get rid of the mundane bullshit. Yeah. But here we are. Here we are. It's true. I'm curious what people think about.
Starting point is 00:18:44 this overall. Put your thoughts in there about the AI conversation. I want to hear it. I see people saying, oh, let you bring Roka and Snyder in here for the conversation. I don't know where the fuck do you do is. No, don't know where the fuck he is. I, um, I, yesterday I reached out to him and say, hey, you want to be on the show? I was like, can you do it? And he's like, yeah, it'll be five o'clock. Well, it's 5.18 there and he's not here. So, um, I'm not, uh, I'm not holding my breath at right now. So we're, we're, we're just going to go through the rest of our topics. If he shows up, We'll have the conversation. If not, we'll then maybe we'll move it to another time.
Starting point is 00:19:18 But right now, Winston and I are going to be doing some other things. But you know what I'll do in the meantime? I'll tell you guys about liquid IV. And then we'll be right back to discuss more topics. Here we go. You try liquid IV? Oh, dude, we have two giant packs of them for the trip. Like the thing about liquid IV that is so great is A,
Starting point is 00:19:37 in hot times like this, you need your electrolytes to get, you know, to get back up. And B, on a. 4th of July weekend when we're going to be going through beers and shelters like crazy. I can't think of anything more vital. It's crazy. I love it. I love it. Dude, if you tried the, they have like a popsicle, like rocket pop one. Yeah, that's the one I do it all the time. It's the best one. Okay, let's let's talk about, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:07 Supergirl, which is still one of the reasons I love having you on this show is because you and I don't always agree. You had one of the most outrageous takes on this show. I mean, now I know that the answer is going to be, well, it wasn't that good. When we were talking about Supergirl, and when you said, if you thought it was,
Starting point is 00:20:28 if it was real good that it could make $800 million, I wanted it to take you to the doctor. I said it had to be really good. It's not really good. It's not really good. Superman, which was pretty good, made 620. Man of Steel, which I thought was really good.
Starting point is 00:20:43 I mean, it's $600 million on a property that people just didn't want to see in general. Like the hate behind the movie just wasn't there. And now the box office is still, it's hurting. It's hurting bad. And now, so there's an update now on this on comic book movie, a Supergirl box office, how the DC movie is faring heading into its second weekend. So let's see what the numbers are on this one. We shall see.
Starting point is 00:21:11 because it needs to have a big second weekend in order to stop drowning. Let's see. So Supergirl box office, how the DC movie is bearing heading into its second weekend. This is from comic book movie. I'm assuming this is Josh Wilding, I would assume so. Maybe not. Maybe it is. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:21:33 After opening with 37 million, Supergirl is headed into its second frame in a tough spot. While projected numbers should be revealed early tomorrow, which is today. Minions and Monsters is set to open at number one with Toy Story 5 moving down to second place during its third weekend in theater. Supergirl should hold on to number three now that obsession is on digital, but all eyes will be on that second weekend drop to see whether the movie has found its audience. There's a risk that filmmakers are holding onto their money for July crammed the big budget blockbusters like The Odyssey and Spider-Man Brand New Day. D.C. studios will be hoping for some good news, especially after the movie struggled both domestically and internationally during the its first weekend. Current projections suggest it will end its global run between 175 and 200, meaning Supergirl could lose upwards to $125 million when all is said and done. This past weekend has been a bit of a mixed back. On Sunday, on, excuse me, Monday, Supergirl earned $3 million, but bounced back on Tuesday with a solid 4.4. Unfortunately, it took ahead on Wednesday, dipping to 2.1, taking its current domestic Hume to $46.4 million. After six days, it still hasn't hit
Starting point is 00:22:40 its 55 million projected opening. And even when this coming weekend is over, it likely won't surpass the 70 million haul. Early tracking had it pegged at debuting with. One flop won't derail DC Studios, but we're sure James Gunn and Peter Safran are using this to ensure they approach manna tomorrow and other future movies slightly differently. You would hope.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Dad writing, Gwituas, cameos, and uninspired visuals take us back to the bad old days of the DCU. And Supergirl is showcased for the super talented Millie Alcock by Kryptonite to anyone who likes good superhero movies. However, coming from a movie.com had a different take for me. It's a 7 out of 10, fall to six,
Starting point is 00:23:17 and then related superfamily news following a claim from my time to shine a low, that Martian Manhunter is definitely in Manor tomorrow. We have the following update from Danny Rickman. Code names for the characters
Starting point is 00:23:27 made it tomorrow that have been announced, Rocket Squirrel. Rocket J. Squirrel. There's a Rocket J. Squirrel? Oh, I guess that's the code name for the characters. Got it.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Okay. Okay, so hence the Rocket J. Squirrel, Dick Dastardley, Mescal, I see, Hedrum. I see. Oh, Masterly is maybe Brainiac? Maybe, maybe.
Starting point is 00:23:50 But he's already in, we already know he's in the movie. I think they need some hitters, and I think that they obviously need, I think Wonder Woman will appear in this movie. H.R. H.R. H. H. H. H.R. H. H. H.R. H. H. H.R. H. H. maybe they're trying to get to the movie,
Starting point is 00:24:05 but if they get to Comic Con and they're announcing some stuff, and they do a presentation at Comic Con, then they absolutely should have, announce her. I wonder the other ones, I mean, Martian Manhunter, yeah, he's a, I think, I think having him is a good plan as well too. He set up some more things, but we've had this conversation beforehand. I don't know where you stand on it now,
Starting point is 00:24:29 but that's why I kind of said, does James Gunn really, is he going to change course? Like, man of tomorrow is going to succeed. It's going to do well. It's But what's the next? Is another obscure nonsense movie after it? Or are you going to actually go, you have to go Wonder Woman, you have to go Batman,
Starting point is 00:24:47 you have to go Flash leading into then Justice League. You got to stop with this side character stuff for now. It's nobody cares. Yeah, I, I, so here was my issue, and we talked about this, Chris and I did last Friday. I don't have an issue with you doing a Supergirl movie.
Starting point is 00:25:05 I have an issue of you deciding when to do a Supergirl movie. I have a very strong inkling based off of the breadcums that we've already gotten from these first few properties, you know, seeing salvation, getting to know Kara and getting to see that there is a more brutal side to her. There's a number of little things that have gone on that I'm pretty sure I know exactly what Gunn is doing storywise. And I don't hate it. But to go about it this way doesn't make sense. you should have gone with your Trinity first. It should have been a Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman. Those are your first three movies and then go into whatever it is that you want to do.
Starting point is 00:25:49 But I just, you know, I said this to Roka on Tuesday. I said that this feels like, you know, I love my sports analogies. This feels like you're in the finals. You were had a home game first. You didn't win it convincingly, but you did win the game with Superman. And then you had another home game with Supergirl and you completely shit the bed and you've lost home field advantage. So are you in like dire trouble? No.
Starting point is 00:26:19 No. But you are flat footed now. And you're a losing streak. Yeah, you're a losing streak. You're not, you're not in last place, but you're on a losing streak. You have got to come. You have got to come with the fire on the next one. So Clayface is going to be huge. Landers is going to be huge.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Man of Tomorrow is going to be huge because I mean, it has to be huge. It has to. Yeah. Because I'm worried about Landon. now and I was excited about lanterns. I'm worried about and I'm not worried about from what I've seen. And what I've seen, I, I'm one of the few that actually really like the tone of the true detective thing. That's what they promised you were going to get. And the, it just doesn't seem like the push for that. And it comes out in August still. It doesn't seem like the push is there.
Starting point is 00:26:56 It seems like they're kind of like, you know, holding back a little bit, not giving everything. Maybe they will want to get a little closer, but we're in July. Yeah. And it doesn't seem like there's a lot of hype on that show anymore. Yeah, it feels like there's a little lightweight level of like burying it a little bit. I know part of it is like there's a lot going on. There's the merger. You want to focus on House of the Dragon right now. Like there's there's other things going on with the studio.
Starting point is 00:27:24 But it does seem a little weird that there's not more of a, Hey man, y'all should get hype. Landers common, baby. Like I feel like we've got the what one teaser and the one trailer. And then that's pretty much been it. We really haven't heard about it or from it for months. So I don't know. It seems a little weird to me personally.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Well, we'll see what happens. As far as the box office itself goes, we'll, again, it's in trouble because you got, Minions is going to do extremely well this weekend. Toy Story on its third week is going to do extremely well. It could hold. I also don't necessarily agree that just because obsession is on digital that it's going to have this big huge drop-off. I think people really like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Isn't this week six, seven? Yeah, but last, I know what you did there, but I didn't mean, I genuinely didn't mean to. I just, no, but like last, last, dude, last weekend, last week. Remember, and it's opening weekend, which was what, six or eight weeks ago. Whenever it was, it, it made like $17 or $18 million. It's opening weekend. It made 9.7 last weekend. I mean, that's fair.
Starting point is 00:28:40 I'm just, I was just going to say, I'm just surprised that people are still going that much in droves. It would sound like everybody would have seen the movie by now, especially with it coming out on digital now. Yeah, I know. Like, Supergirl will still be, because even a Supergirl has a pretty big drop, right? Like right now, let's see, it had,
Starting point is 00:29:02 what did it have last week? it had um 39 million so if it's i mean i don't know if it's a 50% drop then you know it's going to be it's going to be in a lot of trouble if it has a well that's 50% that's like the average isn't it 50% drop they they need they need a 50% drop that's that's that's that's like okay you're you're going to put like 15 17 million dollars you're not doing any higher than that um but i don't even think just I understand it's going to be eaten alive because Toy Story and because of of minions, but you don't think the holiday will hold, help it hold a little bit. Sure, but again, that's 50% of like, you know, $17, 18 million dollars. That's what it needs. That's, that'll be,
Starting point is 00:29:56 and you'd be like, okay, it's a 50% drop. That's about, that's about fine. If it has like a 70% drop, and it only makes like, you know, $8 or $9 million or less. That's going to be the thing when we've been in theaters for much longer. How did it do during the week? That's what it said. It said like three,
Starting point is 00:30:17 it said, I think Monday it said, it did okay. Tuesday, no, Monday it was like $3 million, bounced back on Tuesday, four million,
Starting point is 00:30:25 but then it had a big drop on Thursday. So, you know, let's say, because it made $4 million on Thursday, let's say it makes six million on Friday, right? And then it makes another six million on Saturday, 12, and then it makes like three million on Sunday.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Right. So, you know, you're looking at almost a 50% drop. But, you know, we'll see. But I think the movie will be, we'll be watching, we'll be doing a reaction to it, me and Sam, in August. Okay. You know, I got to give you, I got to give you credit, man, because one of the rubrics that I kind of go by nowadays as far as like and it typically
Starting point is 00:31:06 only kicks in about the weekend that a movie is coming out is just having your I am not in any way associated with the industry people you said it's your I believe you said it was your uncle that you normally do this with if it was your dad I can't remember but for me it's like my two like homeboys from like way back of the day like day one oh that they would they want to see stuff? Or if they, if they like, they'll literally come to me and they go, what the fuck is a supergirl? Like literally. And they and they said that this and they were like, what is this? And I was like, oh, shit. Like the minute I heard that I was like, oh, this movie might be in some
Starting point is 00:31:45 serious trouble. Because like, yeah, go ahead. Because they, because they like, they're Star Wars fans and and they at the bare minimum knew that Mandeliori and Grogu was coming out. They were just like, didn't they do this a little late for that? Like, like that was their response. to that, but then they were like, what the fuck is a Supergirl? And I was like, oh, shh. Well, you know, the thing that was telling to me, there was two things. I went and I saw Minions with Bibb, and I asked her she wanted to see Supergirl, which we can
Starting point is 00:32:13 agree that this movie was primarily targeted for women, right? She knew about it. My daughter knew about it from the marking, but she didn't have an interest in it. So that's strike one, right? A 14-year-old, you would hope would want to see it. she didn't care um the thing that was telling to me is when i asked sadie's like you know let me ask sadie what she thinks and she had no clue supergo movie was even out no idea didn't know who was in she knew nothing about it my fiancee was the same way Kristen was the same way where where she was
Starting point is 00:32:46 the only thing is she was like supergirl um have we done like a supergirl movie like what's and i was like no this is this is she's like was it good i was like i thought the acting was good i think Millie Alcock that plays Supergirl was good, but it's, you know, it's, there's, there's things that are definitely wrong with it. And she was like, okay, well, if you want to like watch it when it, when it comes out on video or something, then I was like, all right, and you're right. That is, that is the problem. If you're, if your main audience, the quadrant you were trying to go after the most is not interested, then just. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, curious people think about what's going to do this weekend. Is it just, uh, beginning in, let's, let's, let's, let's,
Starting point is 00:33:27 look towards Manna Tomorrow in the way that they're looking towards Starfighter after Mandelorian and Grogu what say you guys um I'll tell you I wasn't necessarily excited about mandolian and grogou I was excited about masters it didn't do hopefully you didn't do what I wanted it to there's a movie out there that I'm hearing more about now that I wasn't excited about but then our buddy Josh Harwitz has changed that for me oh what is I am of course talking about the new G.I. Joe movie that Danny McBride is doing. Now, initially, you hear Danny McBride is doing G.I. Joe, and I'm like, oh, my God, what are we doing? What are we doing? We're doing comedy here on G.I. Joe. Danny McGrath says, uh-uh. He's not doing common. Back in late February came the news that
Starting point is 00:34:17 Max Landis, Danny McBride, had been hired by Paramount to develop two separate scripts for a new feature adaptation of the Hasbro Tiber and G.I. Joe, shortly after the studio rejected Landis's version over creative differences but continued on the development of McBride's take. Appearing on Josh Howard's podcast this week, McBride confirmed that he has written a script for an all-new GI-Joe movie, and the plan is to begin shooting soon. I've written one. I'm stoked about it.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I'm really fired up about the script. Paramount seems fired up about it, so hopefully we're shooting it next year. Bride adds that he was inspired by the cartoons and the comics, calling the franchise his childhood obsession. G.I. Joe was my thing when I was a kid. I liked that more than Star Wars, more than anything. I love G.I. Joe and I still have all the characters.
Starting point is 00:35:00 He says he originally approached Paramount with an idea for a film about the dread knocks, a group of mercenaries who worked for G.I. Joe villains, Zartan and Cobra over the years. He was told by this studio they wanted to relaunched G.I. Joe before committing to any such project. So he and his fellow, the righteous gemstone's writers, Jeff Fraley and John Carcery set down to come up with the idea. We cracked something we really love and weirdly it grounds G.I. Joe. It's not a comedy. It's suspense and action, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun. you're following Duke and a group of other Joes. There's the town in the comic Springfield,
Starting point is 00:35:30 which is a town that is all secretly all cobra, and that's where our film takes place. We have some pretty interesting people lining up to be in it, too. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it looks like it's going to be pretty fun. Three live action G.I. Joe films have been made starting in 2009, following by a sequel in 2013, and a character spent off snake eyes and G.I. Joe Origins in 2021.
Starting point is 00:35:49 All were widely panned, though the second of the three did earn $376 million global. this gives me so much hope. Now look, I say that going, I don't know even if it is this grounded version and even if it is put together really well. I don't know how it will do. My hope is that it will do really well
Starting point is 00:36:11 to point the finger at people to say, yeah, you don't think a he-man movie could have worked if it was grounded. Now, those people could also point their finger right back at me if it doesn't do well and say, see, grounded, it doesn't really, work. However, it goes back to the same thing I said about He-Man. I would much rather have that version like that movie Dread that came out. Nobody saw it in the theater. It bombed. People
Starting point is 00:36:35 love that movie and go, that's a great movie. I would rather have that. And if that's what Danny McBride's going to do and it winds up on Paramount Plus, no one sees it in the theater, but we get a great G.I. Joe movie, I'm in. When he said the comics, I'm in. To this day, the Marvel G. I. Joe comic line from the 80s it's my favorite comic series of all time. And it has some incredible stories. And if he takes
Starting point is 00:37:01 those storylines and he's able to I still think a series would have been amazing with all those, but he's going to make a movie out of it. And I like that he was very adamant to say it's not a comedy. It's grounded. And I don't want to hear people going, oh, he can't, comedy guy can't do drama. Tell that to the
Starting point is 00:37:17 Rousseau when they did you know, winter. They were in community. They were in community all those years as writer-directors and and then took over Winter Soldier and crush. What about, what about, um, uh, get out. Jordan Peel. All that time, Mad TV, he and Peel. And then his directoral debut, he, he, what, a Keanu before that. And his directorial debut, he blows it out of the water. That's it. So I love this. I'm so glad that Harwitz asked him about it. Um, and so that would be great.
Starting point is 00:37:50 I still, and I know that the conversation will start to push if it doesn't do well they should have just made it a series. And that's where I go with it. In the same way that I think Supergirl should have been a series for HBO max.
Starting point is 00:38:03 I think they should have been a Supergirl and just adapted women of tomorrow into a six-part series. But people jump to the movies because they try to get, they try to get the Kashish, and I get it, right? But if G.
Starting point is 00:38:15 If G.I. Joe is really good. And you can, make it for cheaper, make some money on it, and then turn it into a series, that would be amazing. So I like that he's doing this. And I also like, look, Seth Rogan, even though he's been kind of dopey with a lot of his interviews lately, he's a great producer. He is. He's a great producer. And he doesn't just produce comedy.
Starting point is 00:38:43 He produces a lot, a lot of stuff. I mean, I'm really digging invincible, by the way. We just did. Good. I'm glad you're actually finally why I mean seeing the thumbnails are me going all right he's doing it he's for real doing it yeah so
Starting point is 00:38:55 yeah no I think Seth is an incredible producer I mean he what he obviously invincible but he also produced on the boys um there was something else recently obviously the studio there was something else though and my brain just yeah he did he did that that um X-Men type show years ago too
Starting point is 00:39:17 they produced the serious one. What the hell wasn't? I think it. I can't remember it, but I know what you're talking about. Preacher. Preacher. Yeah. Yeah, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Yeah. But yeah, no, I, look, I, my only thing that I have said is I just feel like if you're going to dip
Starting point is 00:39:35 into the nostalgia or like the past decade IPs at this point, you should be aiming for the 90s. I think just from the standpoint of the 80s stuff at this particular point, the people that are going to be most fond of it is going to be like the U's and the Rokas and the stuff like that your generation. And it's not, they're not clamoring as much to go clearly go see a masters of the universe. Like it's not quite connecting as much.
Starting point is 00:40:07 So you, if you're going to do anything like that, it would make more sense to go after people around my generation where like the 90s stuff, that was the shit we grew up on. So then they're more inclined to go to like not to say you obviously have young kids, but you're more inclined to say, you know, you got to see this this power ranger's thing like. And then you take your kids to go see that. I just think this is the time to really capitalize on 90s. It could be,
Starting point is 00:40:29 but it doesn't look like someone like Danny McBride. He just he doesn't really care about 90s stuff as he grew up with the 80s stuff. So I agree. That is the risk though. You're not wrong. The risk is that, you know, the same problem with he man. It was 20 years too late. to bring in the theater.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Now, I don't think TV is the same. I don't think at all. I think you can definitely do things on TV because that's where a lot of people in those generations are watching their stuff anyway. They're not leaving the theater. They're not leaving the house to go to the theater. They're watching stuff at home.
Starting point is 00:41:01 So you can do that. But look, the flip side of that is, look at the Mission Impossible franchise, right? Now, that was, that, that IP was about 30, 40 years old before they put it back when they put it in the theater i think it was 60s so about 30 years i think the first one came out like 95 or 96 and i think the mission of possible series was the mid 60s i think that's true something like that yeah so it's like 30 years still but like 40 years is tough however the difference between he man and g i joe is that he man was not really in the public zeit guys outside of my
Starting point is 00:41:40 generation yeah the the the kevin smith netflix series and that got people you know people like heard about it but there was nothing on screen. Sure. G.I. Joe had some, albeit not great stuff, but had... It has two or three movies that people are aware of the... Younger generations or at least aware of the IP, so it's not foreign to them the way that He-Man would have been a little bit more foreign to them. Which is 100% fair.
Starting point is 00:42:06 I think the only thing is you got to look at when that stuff is center stage. Yeah. Is it drawing a lot of... of eyes. So I feel like there is a higher probability of if you decided to say reboot Transformers, that potentially be in success if it's good because that movie was at the forefront. I know G.I. Joe were Blockbuster movie, but they didn't necessarily like hit. No. Those Transformers movies made a lot of money, whether they were good or not. So I just think it's a little easier to lean into that. And look, transformers were cooler, right? The fact, you could turn these, this big
Starting point is 00:42:45 gas truck into a robot and do all the stuff in the way that they made it work. But they just haven't really gotten the take yet for G.I. Joe. I mean, the first one, I thought the second one was better, but it's still bad. And Snake Eyes, I just watched some of it. It's like, they didn't even, the essence of the carry. It wasn't even, the whole point of, and I liked, and what's his name is Henry Golding? Is that who? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yep, yep.
Starting point is 00:43:12 I like him as an actor. He was the wrong choice for Snake Eyes. Snake Kleins was supposed to be, I mean, you could have changed the war, but in the in the comic, you know, and everything else too. He was a, a, a, he was a white guy who was in Vietnam or whatever he was any, and he fought side to side with, with Storm Shadow, who was. I was going to say, one news is essentially like a last samurai type scenario. Yeah, it was something like, like, what was it? Bloodsport. You haven't seen blood sport.
Starting point is 00:43:40 I haven't, but I know what you're talking about. Yeah. So like and so he I mean Snick has got a guy his face blown off And like a like a landmine and he couldn't speak He couldn't talk but he was trained in martial arts through Storm Shadow and other things and they were like buddies and and he learned like the Asian culture and everything through and that was the that was the whole point of him
Starting point is 00:43:59 And they just like changed up this whole thing and they made this They didn't get the essence and it's similar to again which I didn't read the supergirl comic but it's the same thing don't change the essence of what made the things popular dude they they they got rid of a couple of things and even the ending um they made they made it a major alteration and again my theory of where this is going i sort of get why they did it but i didn't like it like i would have preferred you could have found another way to show that car is ruthless and can be ruthless and not change the ending so hard like you know the original ending of woman tomorrow, right?
Starting point is 00:44:40 Not really. Okay. So the original ending of it is final fight where Ruthie starts to take on Kram and whatnot and then Kara stops her from doing it. And then they put him in the phantom zone and he's in the phantom zone for a year.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Like, I think a couple hundred years. And then they finally let him out and say you've served your sentence. And then at the very end, Ruthie's an old woman and he's like, I am so sorry. I shouldn't have done all this. I was a horrible person, I'm better. And then she's like, cool. And then Ruthie, as an old woman, still kills Prem versus the route they went with this. I won't say specifically what they did,
Starting point is 00:45:18 but it was different. And I was like, I, there was something a little more succinct and satisfying about how they did it in the book than just what they decided to do here. I just, I don't know. I I agree with you. If you have, if you have a property and you have a specific story that people love, you don't need to make that many changes. Even how they design crap. Crem looked more like if Coy was a criminal in the book. No, I know. From his Game of Thrones,
Starting point is 00:45:47 it's like John Snow's best friend. Yeah. All right. Juja wrote me back because I guess his Wi-Fi wasn't working. And then what's hilarious about him, we can get this conversation, is that he's going to see Odyssey, which is so funny because they, you know, they flew him out to this is the thing that wasn't talked about.
Starting point is 00:46:06 him any to talk with him right because let me play this clip anyway because he's not here we'll play it again if he does he asked me another time but like i i i and i love juju i really do i think he's a great guy i don't like that when people book in and don't and we arrange the show around the whole time can't make sure sure but text me text me now or go and say i'm having problems with the with the Wi-Fi but again big fan of his like him a lot uh we'll see he's asked for other times we'll see but um this was the clip i'm gonna show the thing from hot mom Mike, and then I'm going to show his response. And then you and I can talk about this.
Starting point is 00:46:40 You know, meeting you, it was clear you love movies. Right. A lot of these people, I just don't get that. I think you might be right about some. I think it's unfair to loop them all in. Because, for example, like, like Juju, Stratham goofy, he loves movies. Oh, yeah, Strawahead does. Sure.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Loves movies. Of course. Love movies, you have to hate movies. Okay? 100%. A hundred percent. I can't name a movie that Juju does not like. I can't name one.
Starting point is 00:47:07 Well, that's where it becomes the, the tricky stuff. Yes, right. It's Christian because, like, I like Shohan, because, like, Sharia, he was very kind when we met a few weeks, a few years ago at Comic Conno, he's good dude. But how many, right, how many of these guys or these girls are compromised because they like the access to these studios? Juju has never really gone out and said, I'm a critic. He's a guy who loves movies. So I love everybody on this podcast. I actually grew up watching all of them and they're a big reason for why.
Starting point is 00:47:36 I started doing what I'm doing. So it's honestly an honor to be mentioned on the Hot Mike podcast in this conversation about universal canceling the influencer screenings for The Odyssey. So it's really actually cool. But I just wanted to clear a couple things up. Specifically for Jeff, I believe he said that he can't name a movie that I don't like. Very understandable. I am very positive on this app.
Starting point is 00:47:55 However, I think it's just honestly more likely it's because you don't watch my content, which is fair. It's probably your algorithm or it's probably because you said that you don't really like watching influencers and don't believe in them. So it's all good. I'm going to show you movies that I just don't like. More recently, I was very critical of the Supergirl movie. I didn't feel damn near anything while watching it.
Starting point is 00:48:14 You can also look at my review of Scary Movie 6 that recently came out. Movie itself can be a little disjointed and honestly a little all over the place. That looseness that definitely hurts the movie. I also released this right after I interviewed the cast. I've also been very vocal on my dislike of the Cars franchise. More recently, on my podcast Get Red With Shry Goofy, which are more than welcome to come on with Erica Hennigson. Growing businesses deal with the same problem. Starting point is 00:49:18 Like I have a whole folder called... All right, so it's a different conversation, but the point is where I wanted to get it with him, and we can discuss a little bit too, is that, and I said this with, and I recommend everybody going, if you're not watching the hot mic already with Jeff and John, they really get a lot of great conversations. over there about this and there's a reason why the show is is so popular for him um that i blame the studios for all of this right because it's this whatever it might be because i was even thinking about this as i was driving the word influencer right the thing is what critics it's become like a dirty word at this point just people critics are essentially and hear me out
Starting point is 00:50:00 influencers right yes because what is the point of a critic in general when giving their criticism on a movie. It is if you if you like their points of view and you like their tastes in movies, you're reading or watching their stuff because it is influencing you or whether or not you're going to see or avoid said movie, right? So by definition, the critics are influenced. However, the studio has decided. to turn that word into the people who promote positivity and promote marketing to now call them influencers. The other side of what they have done with that
Starting point is 00:50:45 is that before the influencers and the TikTok generation, Instagram and all that came out, the opportunities of set visits and other things and these types of opportunities that the influencers really get first, the London visits and all this other stuff, were given to print critics, video critics and all that, those things have been kind of taken away from them because the studios have now said, well, it's more beneficial to us to get the positive influencers out there to promote this
Starting point is 00:51:16 than to take the grouchy critic and put them there who might not even like the movie when it comes out. That is going to piss people off. It is going to, you know, and I don't want to hear anything from critics that it's not about ego. Yes, it is. It's about ego. It's like you're not getting the same kind of love. from the studios the way that you used to. And it doesn't necessarily mean that you had to change your opinion. You didn't, but they're now giving you press screenings. And you go to, and that's the other thing is they give the influencer screenings first. They give the opportunity for the people to go and see it.
Starting point is 00:51:49 They fly out. It's hilarious. We're not doing influencer screenings. It's not happening. Where's Jujo? He told you he's going to do the show. Why isn't he doing it? Because he's in London.
Starting point is 00:51:58 To do what? See the Odyssey. What do you mean? And it's like, that's the other thing. I was going to bring this up to him too. It's like you can't, like, the way that the studios look at things too, and again, why you blame in the studio and you can't hate on the influencers. So you look at Juju who's got millions of followers on Instagram and TikTok, right?
Starting point is 00:52:20 His YouTube channel does okay. His long form interviews don't do very well on the, on this like the full on long form interview, but he gets everybody, gets a lot of great people. And he goes, his short form, and when he takes cuts of that and some, you know, 30 seconds, 60 second things, they do well because of his large following. But you can see, and not juju himself, but it rubs me a wrong way a little bit too. Or I know that I'm going to do a long form interview. And my long form video, my long form, not my shorts, will do significantly better than his
Starting point is 00:52:51 on a long firm interview to where I can promote it out there. But I don't get it because I don't have 8 million followers on TikTok. If I did, I probably get the same kind of access. And does that rub me wrong way a little bit? sure, I'll be honest about it, but I can't get pissed about it. Can't get mad about it. And I can't start a war with Judeo, not his fault. He's got the access.
Starting point is 00:53:14 I don't. I don't know why, but my brain has fully gone to this place. And part of it is, I guess, because like you said, it's an influence, a critic is an influencer. Yeah. And so what this feels like is, it feels like studios have been in this, long-term marriage with critics and it's like I wind and dying you I'm gonna fly you out to London you go meet Christopher Nolan you're gonna do all this shit and now this new hot young thing
Starting point is 00:53:44 over here with a TikToks and shit they over here looking fine as hell and all of a sudden you're watching your long-time partner just their eyes drift like that less about that it's less about how they look but it's less about it because no it's it's more of like we we used to have intellectual conversation but I just want you to tell me how good I look all the time but that's I'm saying it is it is the Bill Belichick having a 25 year old now and it's right you're over here you're no honesty I'm all here but but I think the thing is this is my favorite we know real quick he literally we have we have a commenter that just pulled a Winston what do you do isn't a critic technically influencer where the hell were you 10 minutes ago what I said but in the same way you're right it's that
Starting point is 00:54:33 We will give new language to something, but it means the same thing. Like, it just, it can be used to bastardize something, but it's the same thing. Because like it's, you don't just use influencer and critic. You can use artist and content creator. It's the same kind of like, it's that marketing is, they should be called the positive marketers is what it is. And if they're the positive market. And look, as, as you just said in that clip, he likes to be.
Starting point is 00:55:03 super positive and that's what he likes to share. It doesn't mean that he's not critical about things. Clearly, he showed examples of how he was, but he doesn't dive too deep into it. Even his criticisms were pretty nice, right? And it was, but he's showing like, I didn't really vibe with it. And here's the reason why I was like, you know, this. And it's just not his brand. He never, as I said in the clip, he's not a critic. He doesn't, he doesn't pretend to be. And it's just them, I don't, and I stand by it. I don't blame the influencers. I don't blame them. I don't think that the studios handled this well at all. And I still think they even handled it wrong with the Odyssey thing. Why do you make an announcement that you're not doing this? And then you do.
Starting point is 00:55:49 You just lied to everybody. Everybody, because all the critics are like, we won. You won. You win shit. Everybody's out there. They're watching. Anyway, plus, the other argument could made of going what do you care of the person's there because they can't review it until everybody or do a social reaction to it until everybody else can too because the embargoes well because the young thing is getting the trip and yo ass got to go to sea world down the street that's why it's let's let's let's keep it a buck it's literally you took your sidepiece you took your young thing on a trip around the world and right and now you know you're going to get more positivity from it right 100%. And that's what they used to try to do from, you know, and look, it worked with critics, for sure for things.
Starting point is 00:56:32 They write about the experience and that they see the movie. Maybe they're, you know, they're critical on the movie, but not as credit. Look at Variety, right? Mm-hmm. Who, we can all agree that Supergirl wasn't great. But that article was insane. There was intense behind that. There was intent behind it because, and it wasn't just Owen Gleberman. Owen Gleberman's article comes out. It was scathing, right? He was the first one to throw the shot from Variety, and then they started piling on with other articles about how bad it was
Starting point is 00:57:03 and how it set back, female superheroes and all this thing. That was because they wanted to dick slap James Gunn. They were, they basically were like, okay, you want to call out our reporters for reporting stuff, and you want to break things, you want to call us out, you want to do things,
Starting point is 00:57:19 you want to call, this is how we're going to do it back. And it is, it's that, it's, that's, that's media too. it's not just entertainment media happens in political media all the time and it it is how it is and so this is one of the main reasons is again james gun has to be quiet if i'm zazloff ellison i'm
Starting point is 00:57:40 duck taking taping his mouth and his hands together for when movies are coming out and you're dude stop tweeting and stop talking you're he's hurting the movies by doing it because of stuff like this because now he didn't the backlash you don't want variety as an enemy i just what's what's wild to me is while because supermen or supermen supergirls in doing super hot and there were issues with it were there valid criticisms again from everybody that's going with it but but variety i'm starting to have an issue with because this is the second time they clearly have just gone too far because and and the other one that that i think is the one that i think think about is last year was sinners and how they were instantly trying to like say the sky was falling
Starting point is 00:58:27 with everything and how dare ryan cougler try and push this deal and all that stuff that kind of came out about that and it was and then the flip side of that it ended up on on a positive end where it was like well sinners actually did way better they kind of tried to start this whole crap right right right You know what I'm saying? So it's this idea of. But that's trades, right? I mean, that's the thing is that, but the difference of like that was to the extreme and that article was, I remember that article was stupid.
Starting point is 00:58:56 But this, this seems like intent. This seems like let's go out. That one was just probably poorly timed article and not, I don't think they had ill intent against Ryan Cougler. They had ill intent against James Gunn because they're like, okay, you want to keep talking? You want to, you want to take away, you want to say our scoops aren't good? you want to disregard our reporters and you want to call out people on social media this is what we're going to do for you and i think that that's you don't want to you don't want to go toe to
Starting point is 00:59:22 with the trades if you're trying to build you know your brand up if you're like is james going to establish in hollywood obviously but if you're trying to like you said build a brand you're starting off with this new franchise then yeah you you you you don't want to really start up a shitstorm until you're established. Yeah. Then if you want to, you can do it all you want. But even then,
Starting point is 00:59:49 it's not, it's not smart, but you, but you, you have a footing if you're already set. You know what I mean? Um,
Starting point is 00:59:55 so that's, that, that is, you know, the interesting part of that, but, but I, I just couldn't believe,
Starting point is 01:00:02 like, even just the title of that Supergirl article, I was like, what the, what is wrong with you guys? Like, even if you want to, to lay the hammer down,
Starting point is 01:00:11 like, good Lord, man. Yeah, I know. Anyway, so there's a lot going on right now with all this stuff. So let's do it. Let's get into some questions. We'll do that.
Starting point is 01:00:24 And then, hold on just writing, because Roka was going to come on too to talk, but it's pointless now. Couldn't get. Yeah, let's say. Well, here's one thing while you do that. I can, I can, I can, vamp for a second. because I've told you what I think my best idea
Starting point is 01:00:43 to kind of deal with bridging the gap between influencer and critics, right? Say that again? I've told you what my idea is to help bridge the gap between influence or critics. You need to go and get like a top tier influencer, so say a juju, and then go get like a top tier critic,
Starting point is 01:01:02 let's say a Bibiani just because it's the first name that comes in my mind and stuff like that. And wed them together like like Jobs and Wozniak did back in the day with Apple. They become your Siskel and Ebert. So you have the idea of the general audience, any potential positivity,
Starting point is 01:01:19 things like that that you might get hype about. And then somebody that as a critic who is going in at writing. But that's a show. Which I understand that. But I'm saying if you even so almost in the way that like, because correct me from wrong with Shmose is that you guys were comedians first and then became critics, correct? Okay. So if you were to bridge the gap of Christian now with Christian back then, that combo of an influencer and a critic working together, I understand that it would be a show.
Starting point is 01:01:50 Yeah, but that's, but that's how, I think that's hard. But there's one thing, that's becoming a voice in general for like a particular program, which I don't think is a bad idea. I don't know how that bridges the gap in general between the overall. People don't trust critics anymore. I would make the argument. And they certainly don't trust influencers either. So that's, that's the problem, right? And like the thing is, too. And you use an example of someone like Juju, who is, to me, I mean, outside, and I bust his balls about this on camera, outside of today, which I don't think was the most professional, but like, but I think he's a really professional guy and I think he's great and I think he's super talented. And I like him a lot. And he carries himself well. There are other influencers that I won't name that walk around and think that they are stars and think because they take pictures with the director and get flown out and can treat people poorly and pretend that they're good people.
Starting point is 01:02:44 I agree. And those people are never going to bridge a gap because they're not doing it for just the, you know, because they love movies. Juju is. As I said, he knows how to run the, he knows how to run the algorithm and he knows how to make his content and he likes being, you know, in front of the camera and doing something. There's nothing wrong with that. There are other people, but he loves movies.
Starting point is 01:03:06 there are other people who are just doing it because they want to be famous. That's terrible. I don't disagree with you, but I'm not talking about taking an influencer like that. It would be a juju. It would be like. But that's a show, but you're talking to show. How do you bridge a gap between everybody with, well, no, no, but I get it. But it's not like just not even just the show.
Starting point is 01:03:25 I think even from the standpoint of like working together to write said reviews. So come because like, again, the thing that sticks out of my mind, I understand the rotten tomatoes at this particular point, people are like whether or not they even listen to it is its own separate thing. But I think about how the critic score is pretty virtually polar opposite from the audience score. It is a pretty universal thing. There are exceptions to the rule like when a movie really hits. So like obsession right now is good on both ends. But like I think about the number of movies where it's like an 80% score from the audience and it's like a 45 from critics. And that happens a lot. So I'm saying you need to be able to actually have
Starting point is 01:04:06 have a voice of the general population and have a voice from somebody that is coming from a critical eye. And then if you apply that even to your reviews, it doesn't even have to always be a show, but to the reviews, again, I think about Siskel and Eberts and the debates they would have while giving those reviews and things like that. And that is, I think, the one thing that's missing right now is you need a combo of both to get the trust back for people. Because I don't think it's right. Essentially the conversation that you're explaining is the conversation we thought we were having today. that's a conversation we would have a juju that's that's the things you just have and and asking the critical person asking the influence or positive person certain things and people the problem
Starting point is 01:04:45 is too and i said this one's like when you get when it's it's difficult for people like even you take an example of like chris stuckman right mr stuckman built his brand off being a critic for a long time when he decided to become he was always a filmmaker at harper when he decided to really go after being a filmmaker. He realized in his mind that in order for him to do that, he couldn't start going after and being as critical as he used to be if he was potentially going to working with his people in the future. That was his point of view of what he does. So he doesn't really do movies that he criticizes anymore. He got a lot of shit for it because he has now really taken out, you can't really say that he's a full-time critic anymore. He's a, he's a full-time critic anymore. He's
Starting point is 01:05:32 guy who reviews the movies that he likes and he puts a positive spin on it, right? When he, the things that he likes. Roxy has also said that that's how she does this too. She don't really see Roxy talk about movies that she doesn't like or do things because, again, her primary goal is an actress and she wants to potentially work with people, right? So it just depends on what it is,
Starting point is 01:05:58 who you are, what is your goal in general? But again, I don't blame any of these people, whether it's the critic who's pissed off about it or the influencer who's getting bombarded by other people too. Because it's the studio who really, they're the ones how you bridge the gap. They bridge the gap by giving people, make the critic screening and the influencer screening the same day. You don't have to put them in the same room, but make it the same day, right? have a couple critics, you know, go and not just the same ones that you always do, because normally what happens is every single influencer screening.
Starting point is 01:06:40 A bunch of influencers will tweet out, talk about the experience. Guys, I was just here and I got to tie James Gun's shoe. It's amazing. And then you get, you know, the same five critics that they, well, we did bring critics, the same five critics. Change it up. Bring other people out there. Give other people opportunities.
Starting point is 01:06:59 and I'm not just saying this as far as for me, but like for people, for critics and other people who do interviews, give them access to the talent. Don't just give it to the TikTok guy who's got 8 million views and does shit for the live thing, the long form, balance it out. That's how you do it.
Starting point is 01:07:17 Or you give it to both of them. And you go, okay, here's the interview for you. You do it. And we're also going to give the interview here to you. But they don't, they don't do that because ultimately, they're looking for the clicks and they're looking for the, what's going to get the most eyes on them,
Starting point is 01:07:31 but I think they're causing a war. Yeah, and because the thing that it will piss critics up, it'll piss everybody off in the industry is when you have those moments where you're at award shows and all of a sudden the influencers that are there to get famous. They aren't actually like, I'm really enjoyed, they're there to
Starting point is 01:07:46 start up, whatever. Goes up to, you know, um, Viola Davis and it was, oh, somebody's sick that they say. They'll be like, oh, uh, thought daughter or, uh, day son it's like what yeah i'm here i'm here to promote fences what the fuck are we talking about
Starting point is 01:08:04 i know they're trying and they're trying to get bits but you know the thing is that's the thing where they do these really there's some people that just interviewing is it's a skill it is it very much is a skill and you see some of the people who just build up a a following and and this is again juju is very great interviewer brother so i'm i'm 100% not not directing his name he's a great interviewer people love talking to him he has great conversations does not talk to him there are people that do the junkets that they sometimes these viral clips and the amount of embarrassment that comes from these clips are the things that they ask and they're not even listening and it's something for me and it's like why did that person get
Starting point is 01:08:46 the interview well he got a 120 million views off his last thing where he was kicking a tomato into a yard oh okay but like because there was there was one that happened with fantastic four where they asked they asked Vanessa Kirby about like I can't remember it was either like mommy energy or bitch energy or something like that and it was like what the what does this have to do with the movie
Starting point is 01:09:08 it felt almost as absurd as then there was that one journalist that asked that absurd question last year to not to AO at Abidi and directed it at the Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts yeah yeah yeah yeah so well I don't know
Starting point is 01:09:26 that, I don't, to be fair, I don't think that was an influencer. That was a journalist. Anybody can do it. I get it. But I'm saying like there's got to be a level of, I'm surprised these PR people on both sides, both for the talent and for the studio and everything else, doesn't look at and go, no, not them. Keep them away from this, from that type of scenario being like, all they do is run pranks.
Starting point is 01:09:48 But now you want to have them come on this red carpet for, you know. Because they're going to get, because now they're going to, because now their audience will be aware of your film. It's marketing. How does that, that does it? Does it track? Here's the problem with it, Winston, is this is what I keep saying. You know, if you look, because Roka's like, well, look,
Starting point is 01:10:05 all these influencers went and saw Supergirl didn't help. And my question is, how do we know it wouldn't have made $10 million less if they wouldn't have promoted? Now, I don't, the answer to that is probably maybe nothing at all. But we don't necessarily know. We don't know that maybe that, like, when you look at
Starting point is 01:10:23 like, I don't know, Black Adam when all the Superman stuff was going on and then people started doing coverage on oh my God, guys, this is coming out and more awareness of it.
Starting point is 01:10:36 You can definitely say that one of the reasons Black Adam even got close to breaking even was because people wanted to see Henry Cavill in the end credit scenes. Now, you've got to get awareness
Starting point is 01:10:47 that he's in it besides the Rock talking about it in junkin interviews. There were tons of influencers talking about that scene, leading up to that scene, and promoting that that he's in it, that carries on. It pushes in, and it could have at it is all I'm saying. And maybe the stuff that maybe someone who had never heard of Supergirl before
Starting point is 01:11:12 sees an influencer that they know goes in season. And instead of making, you know, $15 less, it made $15 more. There's an argument to be made there. I get it. And I understand the whole. of, you know, all press is good press. But I, my only thing with that is just the idea of there's nothing about, hey, Henry Cavill's going to be in this and influencers talking about it that comes
Starting point is 01:11:38 off as a negative or troll scenario. That's just like hype and people being like, yo, if this is a thing, this is incredible, versus, again, going up to an Academy Award nominee and saying the most absurd thing you could possibly think of and then it going viral, that did not draw eyes. to your movie per se that just made them go what the hell was that? And so I, that's to me the only difference is that like
Starting point is 01:12:03 I have yet to see when one of those prank things or one of those absurd interview questions a movie that was tracking one way all of a sudden can. No, maybe not. Maybe not, but I mean it's one of these things where like perfect example is the, you know, the after the hunt clip that you just
Starting point is 01:12:19 brought up, right? I know for a fact, I had people reach out to me after that clip came out and goes, oh, I didn't know this was a movie. What is this movie? Because of that clip. Because of that clip because the way that she stood up for herself, right? The way she answered, that clip did go viral.
Starting point is 01:12:37 And as much as, I mean, the movie didn't do very well in theaters anyway, but it got more awareness about the movie. So it's, you just don't know. Anyway, good conversation. Winston and I had it. And I like it. So let's get into the questions because Winston's trying to, trying to pull two in a row.
Starting point is 01:12:57 Cross my fingers. Come on. Last week, him and Chris, I beat Chris Carr by $10. Oh, I beat her solo by $10. Yeah, she almost won. She was first and second place. Damn. Okay, let's see. Ron H. Happy critic. Happy critic. Perfect. Happy Friday. It's thrusted into media with BBC fee.
Starting point is 01:13:19 Even more BBC this week. BBC Fuchs of Critics and Flores, which BBC harder. Winston, how's BBC loose, hard, ready to go. Ready for the weekend, my guy. Ready for the weekend. That's it. Got the hoody daddy shorts. Armada.
Starting point is 01:13:31 Would you all consider Kevin McCarthy and Jake Hamilton as influencers? By the way, love your interviews. Juju. Juju is not here. But thank you, Armada. So Kevin McCarthy, no, because I've seen Kevin McCarthy be very critical on movies. I don't know Jake Hamilton as well, but they're traditionally in media and, I mean,
Starting point is 01:13:49 look, if you're going to what we just talked about with influencers, what the definition of influencer is, then yes, because whether or not you want to see the movie, you're based off their opinions and you like their opinions. But for this thing that they put people in, critic influencer, no, I would put them more in the, again, I don't know Jake Hamilton in the same way that I wouldn't necessarily call Josh Harowitz an influencer, but I wouldn't call Josh Harowitz a critic. I would call him like an interviewer and a journalist.
Starting point is 01:14:19 Right, right. And that's probably where I put Jake Hamilton and Kevin McCarthy, maybe a little bit more. more so in that category two. I don't think he goes out. He's always been more of an interviewer and journalist. So, yeah. All right. Fiona George, 95. By the way, Roka said that there were influencer screens for the Odyssey.
Starting point is 01:14:36 After all, I'm not sure if you heard it from other people or saw it online. Well, clearly there is because they flew out, Juju and other people to go to London to go and do it. So, yeah. And look, the other side of it, too, what we don't know. We don't know, actually, if it is an influencer training, what it could be also, because, as we said,
Starting point is 01:14:55 Juio gets interviews. And what they traditionally have always done is if you are interviewing Nolan, if you're interviewing Damon, if you're interviewing these people, you got to see the movie first. They do screenings, by the way,
Starting point is 01:15:09 that the media who are doing interviews get to see it first. So we don't necessarily know, because I didn't get a chance to ask him, but we don't know if he's there for an influencer screening, or if he's there for a, a, you know, a interview screening, which is...
Starting point is 01:15:26 I'm pretty sure he's there for an interview screening. Yeah, it could be. Because to my... Other than the fact that we know Juju does interviews, you just... To my knowledge, I think he also has... He has a show recently. I cannot remember what studio it's with. But he does have a show. And I got just...
Starting point is 01:15:46 It's escaping my brain right now. So then maybe... Yeah, so there you go. Maybe it's universal. Maybe, you know, so there you go. So we don't necessarily know. if it is an influencer screening in general, but we did hear that there will be influencer screenings beforehand, so who knows? Maddie B.
Starting point is 01:16:01 Marvel Studios reportedly eyeing Sabrina Carpenter for a role in the MCU. Finally, I hide. That's good. Biona George. Yeah, reading articles saying that there were influencers at early screenings with critics. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:18 Yeah, again, I don't know. Like I said, I just, to me, I don't think the studio really gives your shit about this work. either. They're probably like it's, I feel like they're like the Lannisters, like let them fight amongst themselves. They, they don't, they genuinely don't give a shit. I think when it's all said and done, they'll go, okay, well, which one did you guys say you liked more? Okay, we'll keep doing that. Right. It's true. Go Pal, can't make it live, but support. Thank you, Go pal.
Starting point is 01:16:42 Thanks, go, um, oh, a couple announcements that I want to make before we keep going with the questions. The first, and I think I don't know if PILD is not feeling well, so I don't know if he put it in there, but we'll make sure that it is in there. But we have a live show. This is October, but we're excited about it. In Bellmore, me, Jen, and Ellis can
Starting point is 01:17:04 perform we stand-up together. Apparently it's like halfway gone already. Almost halfway gone. So if you want to get your tickets, you should get them now. If you're going to be on the East Coast, or if you're in the East Coast, you should come see us. By the time we get October, it would definitely be sold out. So you guys should get the tickets when you can.
Starting point is 01:17:20 On the Vault Channel, Roka, Nost, Finstock, and JTE go head to head in the first semi-finals matchup of the tournament. So make sure you go and you check that out as well. Yeah, you know, we had martini on the other day. Did you see that one, said? I didn't see that one. Yes, she was on. And it was really good.
Starting point is 01:17:44 So it looks like it, yesterday had got an email. I've been telling people that it looks like, you know, I've been going back and forth with the guy who'd be running the Kickstarter thing. We had to get the agreement. I got word back from him yesterday. Like the agreement. Looks like he's going to be in. We're just waiting for the finalized copy.
Starting point is 01:18:00 Once he's done, then we're going to start putting together the campaign. We're looking. The goal is to launch a campaign by September 2nd. Okay. Dope. Dude, that's around the corner.
Starting point is 01:18:10 It's right around the corner. So we're getting closer. And I was telling people, basically need the way that I'm looking at, I'm starting to talk about this now. And I'll talk about it more as we get closer. I think that's a total, like, really, we just hit 227,000 subscribers, right?
Starting point is 01:18:24 I need 13,000 people to put in 25 bucks and we'll make this show. We'll make the show. We'll make this show in the grand scale of how we want to make it at that number. If we do it. We could still make a condensed version of that, but that's what I'm aiming for. Again, 13,000 people will do. And that's what I'm talking about on every single live stream, every single, you know, reaction review, whatever we do. that's that's what we're looking for to be able to make um the show with with the audience and
Starting point is 01:18:53 take the power into our hands and get it out away from the studios um all right let's see iosha um is jelly roll invited to swift's wedding keep getting these freaking notices once about him yeah i haven't seen one in a while though about jelly roll yeah thank god i watch enough of the show to know that i was like why are they asking christian about jelly roll i don't think he gives a fuck And then it just kept getting on. Yeah, I just kept getting it notices. Fuzzy Bubbles, going to be day drinking on my birthday and taking one of one out of Ron H's
Starting point is 01:19:25 playbook, pants free. And I'm sponsored by Chicken Lakes USA. There you go. Chicken legs USA. There you go. Jim was packed this morning. Dude. It was crowded.
Starting point is 01:19:35 The only thing I'm grateful for, I'm up here in Noho, and they did a reno on the North Hollywood location up here. And it's been incredible because they, I hate that they got rid of the basketball court, but it is just open the gym up where it does not feel like it's it's a zoo anymore but it's been because it's been bad for the last year so while the oFC strongly recommend the fun and cheesy legally blonde prequel show ell the soundtrack is perfect 90s bangers it feels like a classic teen movie you know i did see the um the i've seen the advertisements for it's not i've never even seen legally blonde one or two so i would what oh dude the first second one's fine the first one is incredible
Starting point is 01:20:14 It's actually Kristen's favorite movie, man. That inspired her to one of the reasons she wanted to go to Harvard and ultimately did, man. Like, it's, you know, so no, it's a great movie. Yeah. Anyway, Ed, what's a fictional story? Confused. I don't know. Ed said it's a fictional story.
Starting point is 01:20:32 What is? Fuzzy Bubbles. I'm ready for AI robots to be walking around yelling, Futag, Hami, who? That's the first thing I would ask if I get a, if I get a robot, I would push it and say, Fuguck? Howie? Yep The full scream
Starting point is 01:20:48 Mr. Reyes AI is here And it will only advance rapidly You need to hop in the train You need to get left behind Yeah but the only thing I'm going to say about that Anytime someone says that shit is You got to
Starting point is 01:20:59 You got to check yourself on some of that Because some of the issues that we've talked about Beyond the idea of replacing people in their job Look at all of the people that have talked about The data centers brought into their town They're losing water They're not being able to use power things like that Again, there is an issue
Starting point is 01:21:14 where this is moving too quickly and it is so having that mentality and not actually saying yes it is here yes it is it is happening but we need to rein this in and make sure it's happening in a manner that is good for everyone that is an issue so like that abuse like anything else you can't abuse things Darth Vader's burnt asshole I'm not anti-AI but VFX artists losing their jobs because as cheaper is crap it being here doesn't mean that to be accepted I mean yes and no. I mean, like again, Abuse, Darth Vader's burnt asshole who's been a longtime viewer and a super supporter.
Starting point is 01:21:50 He loves to fucking punch with me. He really does. This guy loves the scrap. In a respectful way, not in a way that he's a dick. He just loves to fucking throw punches at me. And I like to throw him right back in his face as well. So, you're wrong in that it doesn't need to be accepted because the thing is, as Winston
Starting point is 01:22:06 said before, too, people in the same way that computers needed to be accepted because a lot of people will lose jobs. I'm not saying that it's right, that it needs to be accepted, but it does now because it's overpowering the, um, the,
Starting point is 01:22:18 the workplace. And so, and I also don't disagree with you that the VFX artists losing their jobs because AI is cheaper as crap. It sucks. It just happens to be the way that it is. Oh yeah. Literally,
Starting point is 01:22:31 literally the only, the only way and, but the, the, the problem is, is that we are, they built these algorithms exceptionally well and they found out the way to like kind of pacify us.
Starting point is 01:22:43 We would, as a collective have to stand up and say not F this shit. That's the only way, but we are so pacifies that allows people that are in charge to do what they want. Jeannie's out of the bottle of this point. Ron H. Happy birthday to Fuzzy. I turn 52 tomorrow. All right, Ron H. I have a long-standing theory that all U.S. citizens have been celebrating me for the last half-saddle. There's your Mitzu. Supergirl is my favorite DC movie that isn't Batman. I get why it's so mixed, but it's exactly what I want, except the one terrible song at the end. The other needle drop was the shits. Yeah. And that was, again,
Starting point is 01:23:19 gun overpowering his will on Gillespie. Fuzzy Bubbles. Happy birthday, Ron H as well. I'm 47 and sadly. We're both there when the wheel was invented. There you go. Happy birthday to both. Shea Markell. One out of two. Obsession art director commented about the crew sharing in fair pay after this movie has reached over 300 mil. She was paid nearly 7K for her work. She also had to wear many hats for this project. Any thought on if the crew should be giving bonuses on surprise hits. They could give the crew one million each and still have 300 million in gross left. It'd be nice, but it's show business. I'm sure this is very complex. We've talked about this before, Shea, but this is the thing that I I've said. I actually had this conversation with Sam the other night about this movie.
Starting point is 01:24:01 So morally, do I think that the director should give crew and actors a bonus? I do. I think that he should definitely. Now, how much? It's up to him. him. It's up to really look at, he knows his finances more than anything else. But do I think that if they worked as hard as they did and this thing made hand over fist the way that he did, that way that it did, then yes, I think that he should give them bonuses. Now, that being said, do I think he is obligated to? No, he's not. What the obligation should have been inside of the contract when you're initially coming up with it to say, hey, this is another Star Wars type. deal where this thing blows up, I'd like to get, you know, yeah, I'll work for you for $7,000.
Starting point is 01:24:48 But if the movie makes over $5 million or $20 million, I get X amount on every other percentage it does. Look, I'll give you right now when it comes to this Kickstarter deal. I got to do percentages and other things for somebody who's been running, running this thing. And you got to negotiate and you got to have conversations with it. And that's what you've got to do with your deals. Again, do I think he should? Yeah. but he doesn't have to. Two things can be true at the same time. He is not obligated to do anything.
Starting point is 01:25:19 And especially from the standpoint of as somebody working in the industry as an actor, one of the things that you negotiate from Jump, especially if you do any sort of deferment project or low budget budget project, is potential either bonuses or back end points. So that would have been a scenario of negotiating that. However, him not doing it because what you could do, I did the math with, Dwayne and I were hanging out the other day, because he produces blurtes in the hood.
Starting point is 01:25:44 And we were just talking about this. You were burning a bridge with any of ever being able to tap in with anybody else because you're like, well, you got exposure. No, they didn't. You got the exposure. You already got jobs. That's not going to do anything for the girl that was the art director that had to also do location scouting and also had to whatever.
Starting point is 01:26:03 You took a million dollars and you could give everybody on the crew because we counted the number roughly about a 10K bonus. That by itself would automatically, would automatically, show goodwill of you to do that and you will just let other people that might work on your movies go, yo, he's actually a good person to work for it because he'll look out for you. No, but look, here's the other thing
Starting point is 01:26:22 that too is what's not fair. I don't think it was fair for the costume designer or whoever else to speak out already. The movie's not done yet with its run. It's still in theaters. You don't know what his plan might have been absolutely nothing and give you nothing. It might have been.
Starting point is 01:26:38 This plan might have been something pretty extraordinary. But you've now talked about it. and you've, you know, you brought it up publicly to where you're like, now even if I do, it's going to look like I did it because you said you didn't get paid. And I already had the intent to do it. So, you know, it's one thing if it was like six months later. Like six months, this guy didn't give me shit. I know, bad will.
Starting point is 01:26:59 I wish that, I wish that they, that sucks. I didn't put it in my contract and I wish I would have. But I worked pretty hard for the guy and it would have been nice. He mean, he's like, you never worked again a day in his life. But, you know, like I said. I think that he should. He's going to make, he's,
Starting point is 01:27:15 the amount of money that this movie makes this weekend he doesn't need. He could give that all away. He could. Everything that comes down. It doesn't need. Like the money is making on digital.
Starting point is 01:27:25 Doesn't need it. It costs $750,000 to make. It's made almost $340 million. And it's going to make more. So yes, he should, he should give them money. But if he doesn't,
Starting point is 01:27:39 you know. It's the moral thing to do versus what he has to do and that's and that's it right um mark jason i'll leave with a very generous one thank you mark thank you i i i use good as a pre-vis tool that's how i've used it with the aim of when we get on set for our short film we will replace the previs with real actors poster designer after 23 years of the fan or that's exactly how the tools should be used yeah i mean look it's the same thing like even like here's an example there's a pick there's like a younger picture of like of martini and there's a younger picture of me that we're not we we we I knew her I knew her I knew her about that time but
Starting point is 01:28:16 there's a lot of pictures of us when we were younger but the characters knew each other when they were that age so we put together picture them at one point and I'm like okay that would be interesting as like a pre-vis thing going oh two of them sitting there all that makes sense and then you write and then you write the scene that there's no AI but the picture itself like oh that could have been this, this, that. And I've used it for that type of thing to go, oh, the scenario there and using it as a tool to say, that makes sense
Starting point is 01:28:46 if they were there at that point. But using it in the show, and probably not, but it's just like one of these things where it's just an idea for creativity. That's something that's actually existed in Hollywood with the spawning of AI pretty quick. Like, I have a buddy of mine who's a big time editor. And he was telling me, he's like,
Starting point is 01:29:03 yeah, man, there are plenty of moments where we have to, like, movies will need to go in for reshoots. And they they would literally AI out what the scene is just so they know specifics because the budget is now much smaller because it's a reshoot. And then you fully
Starting point is 01:29:18 replace it with an actual shoot. It's just as a placeholder. And I don't think stuff like that is necessarily wrong. I think the issue is if you're going to fully blanket stuff over. That's where it's a problem. Ron H. You have to admit at Fuzzy
Starting point is 01:29:34 when we invented fire. I think we added something positive to the world. yay us we're old as food but we cool uh didn't watch the invite last night but will there was a lot of attractive people walking the hot and human streets of montreal i got distracted l-ol that's fair that's fair and then fuzzy bubbles and and ron h just talking to each other via the tv chat i'm all here i'm here for it i'm here for it come on ron h i miss hunting mammoths and running from saber tooth tiger oh wait sorry let me get back to this one greening from us curious about the writer situation hiring a somewhat to write my $170 million film doesn't seem like the greatest idea.
Starting point is 01:30:13 I got to agree with this. You're talking about Ianagara? Yeah, I got to agree with this. She didn't do anything. She had no credits before. I was under the impression that she had been in a writer's room for a long time before that. She was in writers' room to write some of the DC EU stuff. Okay.
Starting point is 01:30:31 I thought that she had actually been writing on a show for a long time. That's what Chris Carr said the other day, too, but I don't see those credits. You show me the credits in 19. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let me go look. Let me see what. Yeah, it's not showing. So maybe, maybe I don't know.
Starting point is 01:30:47 No. So the thing is with a, now, it's, I said this many times over and looking at this, this, this is okay to do. And it has happened before. When I was at Silver, we had people come in and they would write a first draft. And then you'd like, okay, it's not the, the green writer wrote this, even really good. thank you for your first draft now we're bringing in the experienced writer and that's probably what it should have
Starting point is 01:31:13 happened here and giving her this and then Wonder Woman look I've said this one of the things I really do like about James Gunn is that he's so loyal to people but this might be a mistake
Starting point is 01:31:27 to do because you don't want to mess up Wonder Woman yeah yeah I mean I guess she what it is is a she's a playwright. So I do see that. So she has, she has a number of, number, a thousand percent, it's different. It's, it's, you know, but that, that's, I guess what I'm seeing here as far as just kind of going back. And maybe
Starting point is 01:31:50 that was what tipped the hand one way or the other. Um, maybe, but pretty crazy though, 170 million dollar movie to have it. It's interesting. But look, the flip side to that, devil's advocate, even though I just played the one side of it, was that, if it would have been a major hit then everybody would be raving about her and saying oh my god this is this is a breakout star and and maybe his idea was people are going to love this script they're going to love it she's going to be a huge star and i'm going to bill i'm going to be a star maker in screenwriting and it just didn't happen that way but he took a shot ron h me and fuzzy living through tyling highlander yeah mr ray is 77 in sports coaches don't survive multiple losing seasons how many disappointing movies does james can get
Starting point is 01:32:34 before DC. It's not, let me finish. How many disappointing movies does James Gun get before DC decides it's time to move on? Okay, so the thing is, though, a movie is not a season. That's why I use the more like the example
Starting point is 01:32:50 of like a playoff series is because it really is one, because if that was the case, the MCU would have died out a while ago then. If we're saying that each movie is a season of sports. Right. So no, I think this is a scenario where it's closer to a playoff series and it just goes huh it's a game but that's that's that's exactly it's each movie is a
Starting point is 01:33:10 game and that's why that the run of whether or not it does well whether you're going to succeed or fail is okay best of seven you you got to you got to game four and it's been four shitty losses in a row you're done yeah you could look at you yeah it's it also depends on the the i look at more like a football season right because football season each game means more than say like a baseball game or a basketball game. Because in each game, if you lose two or three in a row and you lose dramatically, you're going to be in trouble. But if you win one big game against a really good team.
Starting point is 01:33:46 Growing businesses deal with the same problem. Too many tools, too much back and forth, and not enough time. Odu helps bring it all together. It's an all-in-one business management platform, fully integrated from sales and accounting to inventory and marketing. so your team can spend less time chasing information and focus on growth. Whether you're in retail, manufacturing, or service, O-D-U gives you one place to manage your business. Visit O-D-O-D-O-O-O-O-D-O-O-com.
Starting point is 01:34:16 Up top, they're like, okay, that was a big win, what's the next one? And so Superman was a win. They won. They won the game. They lost dramatically with Supergirl. So now, all eyes are on the coach, what's the next plays you're going to make for the next movie, coach? right and then if manna tomorrow does well okay we're back on track but the problem is there's a new GM coming in now is the GM going to want you to you know call plays the same way that you did before or he's going to make you change it up and if he does make you change it up and change who's who
Starting point is 01:34:47 you're having a quarterback and all this stuff are you going to walk and let somebody else run the team and is it even going to be your your game plan anymore or are they going to just you know reboot the whole thing yeah no that's John DX Dragon. Happy Fourth Harlov. When will Martini return to the show? Love her on Tuesday. I wanted to ask you two on aspiring writers for novels compared to TV and film.
Starting point is 01:35:12 Would you say it's a similar process? Harder for me to say on the novel side of it because I think it probably... I mean, I think there could be things that you implement to your process that could be similar. But I think that overall it's different because it's so much longer, so much detail. tell all these different things. But as far as when she's coming back, you know, all things happen and we get this agreement
Starting point is 01:35:39 signed with the Kickstarter guy and we start moving. My goal is to get her and the director on very soon to start talking about it more collecting emails from you guys to let you know more stuff about when the Kickstarter is coming
Starting point is 01:35:55 so you can be, know that it's here. And then she'll be on a lot during that that 30 days for sure yeah um the only other thing i would say just talking to like my sister who's a very successful screenwriter and is writing her first novel like because i asked her similar questions and she was just saying like the main thing is the thing that is the same if you know how to tell a story you know how to tell a story so that's that doesn't change but the formatting the way you have to present those types of ideas like you mentioned there's more detail in some and less than the other
Starting point is 01:36:28 for certain things they are different in that regard but basically sick techniques of storytelling remain the same no matter what. Yep. All right. John Dix Dragon. As for Gunn, I firmly believe everything from 2025, 2025, 26 will determine if Ellison keeps him. His contract ends before the release of Man of Tomorrow, so he may only judge him for
Starting point is 01:36:50 the six projects already out. I mean, yeah, look, I think Manit Tomorrow is going to be everything, though. It's not just 2025, 2025, 26. It's going to be Manit Tomorrow because, yeah. other idea is you look at like the Taylor Sheridan inside of it he didn't want to work for Ellison gun might just be saying I'm gone anyway I don't care I'm gonna do my silly I'm gonna I'm gonna spend 180 million dollars on Bain and and death stroke which is the stupidest decision anyone could ever make but what does he care if he's like I'm out the door
Starting point is 01:37:19 anyway as much as I love those two characters and I would love to see them team up I don't understand why we're doing this if 40 million dollars raid style that'd be cool but yeah you know clay face style you do like 40 yeah Okay, okay. I would love them both, but why are we, why are we even remotely sniffing a bainer or death stroke and you haven't even told me who Batman is? 100%.
Starting point is 01:37:39 I'm with you. All right, next one. Comic lover. At first, I didn't like Winston. I hope he likes you now. Cool. Was it because I understood that you had a saying flag for an icon that you changed your mind. Did you put in another super chat or that was it?
Starting point is 01:37:53 I don't know, let's see what to see what his follow up was. Ron H. Yo, Joe, I want Sergeant Slaughter and Sir Pentor. I don't know if you're getting at Sergeant Slaughter, or you might get Serpentor for sure. John Dex Dragon, DC lost a lot of the audience's trust. It logically made more sense to get them back with familiar faces in the Trinity first.
Starting point is 01:38:10 If people show up in its success, then we do the B-C-less character. Yeah, yeah. And they only, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The only reason you did the B-list characters for Marvels because you didn't have access to Spider-Man and the X-Men at the time. So you had to go.
Starting point is 01:38:23 But they also had a string of hits. No, no, no, I agree, but I'm saying like the idea of even, well, Iron Man, like, if you think about it, the only A-lister of the original Avengers movies that we saw in the MCU was the Hulk. You may have lightly heard of Iron Man and Gore and all that kind of stuff, but it was Spider-Man and X-Men. Those were the two that, like, were at the forefront. So you didn't have a choice.
Starting point is 01:38:45 Yeah, they had more, they had more, like, public knowledge than, say, you know, Supergirl or even, you know, Guardians of the Galaxy or the, but, but yes, you know, they weren't, they weren't like guarantee like oh everybody wants to see an iron man movie like everyone wants to see a Thor movie no 100% um but they built them up and the thing is they didn't have the same kind of properties as as DC does as far as that yeah that was it you have the Trinity so there's no excuse to not use crazy it's crazy you're shimitsu speaking of 90s giving me a dragonfly z movie as far future sequel to rain of fire that was a post apocalyptic cartoon of dragons Okay. Dragon flies. I don't know what that is. I don't know that one. Yeah, me either. Matt Sinister McCall. I'm creative, but dumb. When it comes to writing, I use Gemini AI for grammar, fair, sentence structure, and feedback.
Starting point is 01:39:41 Should that be frowned upon as a writer? No, I mean, is it, like, I think, look, I do think that some people would look down at you. I don't. If it's like, if you're coming up with the creative idea itself and you're writing the story itself and you're using, oh, okay, my structure is doing this, but you're doing it if you're if you're writing screenwriting or or other stuff or whatever it might be but when it comes to if if you're writing like a book and the AI starts writing your story for you well then yeah then that then that's that's not that's not what you should be doing i would necessarily for feedback especially knowing that AI like there's been enough
Starting point is 01:40:18 instances with chat gbt with claude with all of this where AI will sometimes kind of pull out of its ass i think it's fine to trust it for grammar and sentence structure we've been doing that already with spell check for decades. I think it would behoove you to, for the feedback, ask other writers, ask other people that have like done it versus AI, because I just don't think it's at that point yet where it could be fully trusted to do that per se. But if it's even maybe your initial feedback and then you go and seek someone else, I could understand that.
Starting point is 01:40:49 Ron H. Seattle got it. Samurai Jack. That would be fire. That would be awesome. Comic lover. Hangover is killing me. My friend's dad passed. I'm sorry. So we drank all night and she pulled out her dad's snow.
Starting point is 01:41:01 So things got weird anyway. Winston is a good egg. I was wondering where all of that was going. I'm so sorry about your friend's dad passed at a birthday. Right. It's going to get a party. Armada. Winston,
Starting point is 01:41:15 did you watch Holly Weed? I watched like the first 10 minutes of it and then I got distracted. My bad. Comic lover. Guns the guy we never bring to do criminal activities, diarrhea of the mouth. Guys like him are how we end up doing five to ten. Wonder what happened.
Starting point is 01:41:31 Yeah, I just wonder. I just, it's like, you know, the thing is too, it's just that nobody's telling him not to, oh,
Starting point is 01:41:37 it's cool, it's ballsies. And he's the executive that's out there talking to the fans. It's like there's nothing good that comes from social media, um, conversation. There, it really isn't.
Starting point is 01:41:47 There really isn't. It's like promoting out on there or promoting certain clips, resharing things, talking about things. Sure. the whole year than now promoting or being out there so many people especially in our space
Starting point is 01:42:02 especially people we're with I get so exhausted with people's twitters I'm like I just wish I could you know be able to like almost do like social media tasing you know with the social media pepper spray they go to type some shit
Starting point is 01:42:17 the right years you're about to like type I know I like you know like I'd have like a dog collar on Kalinowski just start shocking Kalanowski every time he starts to know my lord yeah yeah there's quite a few people i would do that too um dole of movies man i'll name him for you christian soups there's a ton of people out there man there's a ton of people ron h guys you don't understand i got a chance to ask christian to watch hollywoodsson you watch it what you think now you didn't watch it either 10 that's all 10 minutes
Starting point is 01:42:47 i apologize oh this is a great point and i didn't bring this up before armada mcbride also wrote the hollywin reboot halloween reboot in 2018 yeah that's right he did 100 percent. That's right. Comic lover. Winston, 100%. Dumb questions that have zero to do with the movie. I liked Fantastic Four, but those interviews were ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:43:08 Was that fantastic? Is that we talking about Fantastic Four? Because I brought up Vanessa Kirby and they asked her. Yes, yes. Dumb questions about nonsense, bad PR. Yes. 1,000 percent. Those interviews are terrible.
Starting point is 01:43:18 I didn't know about Jake Hamilton. And I just went to look and there's apparently the interview we did for The Odyssey. he's apparently asking the type of questions where people like, Jesus, this is so refreshing. I have been missing. He's a real journalist. No, no, no. I understand that, but I'm saying, like, again,
Starting point is 01:43:36 the fact that he's already out there doing that and people are like, I'm so glad that you exist and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, Jake Hamilton is like a, is a real journalist. Kyle Rays, 2001. Howdy, gentlemen, I think influencers should be called brand awareness ambassadors. I mean, it's lengthy, but I get where you're going for. How are you like an X-Men 87 season, too?
Starting point is 01:43:56 love that Jubilee. I've seen the first two and I liked them. I'm not doing I decided I'm not doing reactions to them. I recorded one and two and then I'm on, you can see one and two on the unedited but I'm not putting reactions out there. But I will
Starting point is 01:44:12 watch it and then give my review afterwards for sure. No, I'm loving it man. It's it's amazing so far. Black fiction. Besides the big three, who are some characters who would narrowly, who would narrowly work in the DCU for a show's Booster Gold and Static Shock would work as TV shows. I agree.
Starting point is 01:44:30 I mean, you got to go do a static movie, but so that's why I'm just saying you should just wait. Yeah. Just wait. I'd like to see a flash movie. I'd like to see them, you know, I think people would forgive you pretty quick if he did another flash movie, even if it's in like three or four years from now. But do another plan. Christian, give me one second. I'll be right back.
Starting point is 01:44:49 Yeah, sure. So, yeah, I wouldn't mind doing a flash movie. I think that would work. Okay. Let's see. Swazi, 8455. It's almost like Hollywood is not learning from Marvel. The Nolan film is clearly virtual signaling.
Starting point is 01:45:03 If you're not going to be accurate, don't tell it. Well, wait a minute. Hold on. No. You can't do that, Swazzy. Don't buy in on whatever the loud social media is telling you to do yet. You haven't seen the Nolan movie yet. You haven't seen it.
Starting point is 01:45:22 That's part one. Part two. How do you know? that it's not accurate and it's a fictional story in the first place. So that's hard, that's hard to, to say, you haven't seen it. I saw someone the other day arguing and saying,
Starting point is 01:45:39 this movie's gonna bomb! I will bet you a lot of money that you are wrong. This movie will not bomb. Let's see the movie first. Don't just do it because your team said that it's virtual singing now. And that, no, no, no, no. on the other team now so we're going after him now don't do the team's thing the team's thing
Starting point is 01:46:00 never works out let let see how the movie is maybe he's not good maybe that may make creative choices they'll why do that why do he cast that person that didn't work out see the movie first that's my opinion you should admit to i thought jelly roll died in the 40s no no ron h when i power her on i want roney in my car to greet me with hello ron futugami who and what chaos are we spooaging over people today. There's a lot of chaos. Tons of chaos. It's true. Um, okay. Comic lover. DC, the question. Six episode mystery, conspiracy, detective thriller series that connects to the darker side. I know Gunn, it forces to be a comedy movie. I think that is another thing that talked to Winston about it too. I wonder, um, I wonder if Gunn will ever take the
Starting point is 01:46:54 note that maybe you don't have to make everything funny or is he always going to have comedy in there i think i'd like to see a version of a movie it just doesn't it's just not not goofy joey peddress happy 250 oh thank you joey happy 250 to everybody um optic 3 316 hey christian when's coy come back in the show i miss capes and cows uh it you know man's busy and we haven't really done capes and cows in a while but he's busy man mad sinister mackale on your Kickstarter, what will 50 or 100 get you? I promise you all those details will be there. And we're going to give, we're going to give, you know, some pretty cool details, pretty cool benefits and tiers that we're working on that I think is going to be pretty, pretty different
Starting point is 01:47:40 from a lot of other campaigns. So yes, there will be, there will be some pretty good benefits for, for that amount. That's even super generous that you're even asking for that, that amount. But we will, we will be um we will have some cool stuff i promise you that ron h i am wandering a shopping mall parking lot i forgot exactly where i parked in these nugs and i love and hate you oh you hate me and at least i got no pants on that's well you're gonna get arrested again mr i crap and shits fuck a i using a i calling yourself an artist as a quixing a tv dinner calling yourself a chef prompting is an artistry yeah look like i said this is never going to be an easy conversation and it's going to be a lot of people are going to be up in arms about it.
Starting point is 01:48:26 And I get it. I get it. Comic lover, celebrating birthdays in America. I'll bring the snow. Okay. Ron H. visited mom and care today. Not sure how much more time I have with her. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:48:40 This makes me sad, Ron. I told her she could leave. Oh, Ron. I have everything in hand, so I love these last year all. Thank you. No joke. Well, I love you guys. That's, um, that's, that, listen, it's not easy losing a parent, my friend. Um, and I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:49:00 I'm super sorry. Thank you for sharing that with us. And thanks for giving us laughs every day. Trey Porter, 30th anniversary of Independence Day. Wow, that is pretty nuts. I remember seeing that movie with, with my buddy, my buddy Pinto. Okay. Um, you good?
Starting point is 01:49:16 Yep. All right. Ryan Hogtown. What do you think happens with the NBCU? Ideal candidates to buy them. I mean, Netflix, was was they splitting up yeah they're splitting they're doing uh it's universal and something else but i can't remember um so yeah i don't know i i don't know who's gonna get it it's not gonna be netflix
Starting point is 01:49:34 probably not i don't know i honestly don't know i'm not sure i wouldn't i wouldn't even be able to guess yeah i i because you got to see what players are in town yeah maybe apple vise but i feel like they don't need to like they're already doing their own thing yeah i don't know i mean apple could be never know uh comic lover ron h affiliate bro miss my mom every day this show helps i have to tell you that that kind of stuff makes me um so like i mean humbled i guess is the word but like people keep telling us how we will we can get them through the days and we get and we bring them laughs and that really means so much and i'm so glad that you guys find that from us thank you no i agree with you man it's it's um it is very humbling and i was actually going to i wanted to to to
Starting point is 01:50:21 even say that to you of I've been really grateful that I not only met you, but that you have like taken a chance on me and then like been such a good friend, uh, you know, over the course of the years, man, it's been, it's been pretty awesome.
Starting point is 01:50:35 So I, there is something very special, uh, about this community. And so yeah, I, I, I,
Starting point is 01:50:42 I, I'm grateful that I could be there for the folks that are feeling that way. And I'm, and I'm grateful to you, brother. Let me mute this for him. Okay.
Starting point is 01:50:50 Hey, sir, cancel. firing Winston for another month. You stupid bitch. You stupid bitch. All right, let's say. Next one. Same goes to you,
Starting point is 01:51:08 my friend. You're one of the kindest people that I know. All right, let's see. Ron, I'm sure we did that one too. Mr. I crap and it's just not to make you feel old.
Starting point is 01:51:17 Two great sci-fi movies hit major milestones. 30 years ago today. Independence Day released on the 18th Alien Trans 40. It's crazy. Jesus Christ, I'm old. That's crazy. Ron H. Your boy is hitting stereo after hours in July 4th. DJ David Morales is spinning all night at a little state to do my already chaotic energy. I'm going all night as well. We'll dance hard for you guys. 52, baby.
Starting point is 01:51:40 I can't, you really need, you, someone needs to be 100% following you around with a camera. Yeah. You're right? Yeah, I think so. Django Black fired 2327. Dan Merle said Minions was good. Will you guys watch and review? Also, just caught up with the boys season five.
Starting point is 01:51:59 Winston, you killed that O'Fother role. I look, man, I worked my ass off. You know, I really worked on my vocals. Like, I was, I was very grateful for... It's over my head. It's over my head. DeVee Diggs. But I will tell you this.
Starting point is 01:52:12 Django Black does not watch this channel outside of the live show because I've already seen minions. I've also talked about the fact that I've seen minions. I've talked about it. I took my 14-year-old to see it. I did also like it, and I put my review up, for Dan Merle's. How you like that?
Starting point is 01:52:27 Django Black. It's to me, Steve, I'll talk about your relationship with Adam Ray. Interview. I could definitely ask Adam Ray. I mean, Adam Ray used to come on the Shmo's No show all the time, and he was, I mean, shit, I just aired season one. What match was that?
Starting point is 01:52:44 There's a match where he was, it might have been a JTE match. He was, he was one of the judges. or commentators on the thing. He used to come on. We used to do the impressions. It was me. I would do Arnold. He did Tony Danza and then Mark would do Alf.
Starting point is 01:53:00 We used to do like little bits with them. So he used to come on all the time. He was just, I think, a friendly with Mark and then he came in. He was after my time in the comedy circuit. But he's been doing really well for himself. He's always been. He's hard worker.
Starting point is 01:53:13 Really hard worker. I can reach out to Adam, trying to get him on the show. Trey Porter. DiCaprio and Baylor officially set for heat too. Did that come in? Bail is Hannah. How do you know this? Where is this news? I don't have any of my producers today.
Starting point is 01:53:28 I can look for you. Let me see. I'm looking. That's an hour ago. Leonardo DiCaprio and Bail are in the wrap. Yeah, starts in November filming. Okay. Bail is going to play Vincent Hanna.
Starting point is 01:53:44 That's great. That's bail. He's playing Hannah. He's like I mean, I don't know. I mean, it's great, but Hannah, Al Pacino is, Al Pacino is 5 foot 7. I don't know. Christian Bale is like six feet, didn't he?
Starting point is 01:54:06 He's six feet. I mean, I mean, I don't know. Maybe it's not that. I mean, I don't know. He would have had to shrunk. I thought bail was six and you said Puccino is 5.7. Right. he would have had to have shrunk.
Starting point is 01:54:20 Wouldn't he have had a growth? Because now it's being, is this supposed to be a prequel? It's a prequel. I didn't understand you were saying it's a prequel. I thought it was. Have you ever seen heat? No.
Starting point is 01:54:29 Oh shit. That might be one we have to watch together. So bail is, is Hannah. Leo is, oh, Leo is, is, that's cool.
Starting point is 01:54:38 He's Kilmer, that's cool. I like that a lot. I like that a lot. And Stephen Graham is McCauley. So who's Stephen Graham? That's De Niro. Stephen Graham.
Starting point is 01:54:49 Let me say Stephen. Let me say Stephen Graham. Oh, I heard about that. Stephen Graham is McCauley? Hmm. Really? I like Stephen Graham as an actor. He's a great actor.
Starting point is 01:55:06 He's McCauley, though? And then Adam Driver's being looked at the villain, filming his stuff for it. It's a hell of a cast. Okay. That's a crazy cast. It's a crazy cast. Greeny from Oz.
Starting point is 01:55:17 Support Derek John. That's hilarious. Greening for us. 72 questions right now for Winston. Can you, can, you need, you need some big power shots here to push past Roka. Roka, I looked, I mean, I didn't do the numbers just for, Chris's numbers haven't come in yet, but Roka is in the lead right now monetarily for sure. Okay.
Starting point is 01:55:38 If Gunwere to miss a few more times, firing, replacing, and restarting again is a big move. Sticky situation. At this point, throwing a lot of budget niche at the wall. hoping something sticks might work. Yeah, you know, what I would do is if Manit Tomorrow does well, and then Gunn decides if, if Gunn, let's say Ellison, this is what I think should happen. Regardless of what you think of Ellis,
Starting point is 01:56:01 I think that I think he should say, listen, Manit Tomorrow worked. We are putting a mandate that the next movies have to be either Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, and then lead into, you could put whatever directors you want to work on it together, screenwriters, actors will work on it together collectively, but those are the movies. You can decide which ones out of those you want to put out first,
Starting point is 01:56:24 but then lead to a Justice League movie, and then we can talk niche stuff. If Gunn then says, that's not my direction, I'm out. I wouldn't scrap the entire universe. I would say, all right, keep corn, sweating everybody else too. Let's get someone else who will run that vision. Let's keep corn and sweat.
Starting point is 01:56:41 Let's keep everybody else and let's see where we go. If Manit Tomorrow does well. Now, if Manit Tomorrow eat shit, I think, you know, I don't know what, I don't know what they do. I don't know what they do. Yeah, if Manit Tomorrow doesn't do well, we're going to be having a lot of very emergency conversations. Yeah, I guess that's a question. Someone just wrote, if anybody has, I'll talk about, again, like with the pilot coming up, and as I told you guys with the Kickstarter coming up, that when we got to this place,
Starting point is 01:57:11 it's really all I'm going to talk about. and I'm going to be talking about it a lot with my with my co-host and everybody else too especially with people who have read it so if you have any other questions and any other things you want to know kind of before we lead into the Kickstarter absolutely you should ask 100% uh why not jay happy fourth crew i am low key salty that coy is live but not with you guys what the hell yeah he's i don't know is he is on his channel uh who knows um yoshimitsu the odysty casting annoys me too. I don't believe for a second that Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Ann
Starting point is 01:57:45 Hathway, and Robert Pattinson are Greek. They're all, but none of them were talking with the Greek accents. They're all, they're all speaking with them. You're just going to have to suspend your disbelief of what this takes place somewhere else. You know what I mean? Like, they're not, they're not doing Greek accents, not doing anything else to.
Starting point is 01:58:01 I appreciate the fact that the focus then is on the entire cast versus what was initially like, Lapidian Nguer was hell in a truck. like if at least you're like i'm mad that everybody's not great then that's fine just you know you're going to have to suspend disbelief i agree but yeah yeah um all right let's see next one after that comic lover to be clear winston my brother now i got you even in new york need to lay lower get like i'm your guy your family uh especially put the word out in the streets there you go
Starting point is 01:58:35 appreciate it bro i think you ron i think comic lover and ron h have the are sharing the same, same account. Now, Ronnie. Now, how does one drive again? Uh-oh. Yeah. Oh. Mr. Riker, in Kickstarter, what your, would five cents get you.
Starting point is 01:58:51 Have a great holiday. You can you banful. Who? You know, just kidding. Yeah, look, like I said, we really just need, I think it's between, I got to look at the final number, but like I said, it's between 12, I think it's 13, 13,000, 13,000 people to do 25 bucks.
Starting point is 01:59:06 If we do that, then we got it. And we got it. Wiley O.C. Hope you guys have a good weekend and watch a movie. I mean, I'm going to, I think this weekend I'm going to finish, I'm going to try to finish 12 monkeys, finally almost done with that. And then I'm going to, and then I'm going to try to start the bear. Since I'm on, since I'm on vacation, like I'll be with a bunch of people.
Starting point is 01:59:26 The only TV that'll be on will probably end up being the World Cup and that's about it. Okay. Ronnie. Look, I love mom, but the woman is menace. I'm purposely apologetic to the staff at home. I think with no pants. under from watching mom all right uh fuk no i don't want to be truman showed you probably you probably make a lot of money uh wiley christian one of my favorite moments of all the things you've done is when he's
Starting point is 01:59:50 saying hey baby doll from the movie danny collins that was old school you've been watching i don't know that bro i don't know that danny collins a great movie no one no one remembers it but it's a great movie and it's like you know what wiley i don't even remember how it goes but i remember the bit i I remember the bet. I had to watch it again, though, and I probably would start singing it again. But yeah, we used to sing the Hey, Baby Doll all the time. I remember that. Okay.
Starting point is 02:00:14 All right. Go, pal. So Hannah McCauley are swapping heights. Stephen Graham is apparently like five-five. Yeah, it's strange casting. Strange casting. Jay Mobile. Been a while since I've watched live and just became a dad this week.
Starting point is 02:00:28 So for Christian, what was your movie watching life with a newborn? I guess I'm watching. I'm waiting for Odyssey, Spidey, Dune, and Adventures on VOD. Yeah, this is the trick. And I am the wrong person to ask when it comes to this because of what I do, right? Riley is a great example. Riley used to go to the movies all the time. Riley hardly ever goes to the movie now.
Starting point is 02:00:49 He's got like a one and a half, two-year-old. Shoot, she's older than that. She's probably two or three, right? She's almost three, yeah. Yeah, she's got to be. She got to be. Time's flying, bro. Time's flying.
Starting point is 02:00:59 So either way, yeah. So Riley does not get to the movies as much as he used to go all. the time. I get to go because of what I do. So during the weeks, you know, I'm going, but I used to go to movies on the weekends and stuff too. I never go to the movies on the weekends. I'm like my free time. I, my free time, I never go to movies. So that's probably, and that's now, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's with a 14-year-old and an eight-year-old. Newborn, I was still watching stuff all the time because I was doing it for my, my gig. But a lot of people, it just, it's just hard to do. Yeah. Yeah. You know, you just stuff.
Starting point is 02:01:32 because because I mean shit she's going to be probably I'm assuming she's like bounce back from the birth but I'm sure she's down she's oh she's in it right now she's she's in the shits Joey Pedrus do you think more critics need to do better on social media outside of YouTube feel like the influences have captured the market share there what would you recommend to aspiring critics in 2026 well it's I mean it's it's different because the thing is you know it's just changed so dramatically and what it is like because the short form thing. You look at like, look at critics like Christy Lemire and Alonzo Duraldi who were just really brilliant film critics. They were doing YouTube and other things too, and I had recommended them that they started doing out of the theater reactions.
Starting point is 02:02:17 Because, and they wouldn't, they, it's just not what they would do. They would do like long form. And they started doing it. And it's performing really well for them. And they do that because they're able to, because people trust in what they say because they're film critics.
Starting point is 02:02:31 And they basically have taken that. style and done that. And that's kind of what you're asking Joey, too, is to see if you can, you know, essentially do that because I'm doing that with my out of the theater reaction now, too. I'll send it to Smets when I'm done and he turns it into a short and then I throw it up on the channel too. And it's, and it's, I'm not the channel on the, on my Instagram feed and it's been working. So there's ways to do that. There's ways to do it. Ron H. I love hackers. The visuals of laptops uses for shiz, but that film has style. And the, cast stack watch it if you have it i saw it a long time ago angelina jolly angelina jolly yeah
Starting point is 02:03:09 your schmitsu my odyssey comment was meant to sarcasm oh i think i'm gonna love it and i think the whole cast will be great all right fair enough yeah yeah yeah so right now that's it um no that's not you're not you're not listening you're not listening there you're not listening I got it. I got it. No, I know they're not influencers in the traditional word. But if you have a critic that you traditionally listen to, let's say it's Jeremy Johns.
Starting point is 02:03:50 Let's say it's Alonzo Duraldi. Let's say it's anybody along those lines. And they are there evaluating the art. and they are doing that. And the way they are evaluating that art lines up with your taste and your point of view. And because they evaluated the art in such a way that it resonated with you,
Starting point is 02:04:16 that you now say, oh, well, so-and-so liked it, I think I'll go see it. Or so-and-so really didn't like it, and broke that down and evaluated the art in such a way that I don't want to see this anymore. they have now influenced your opinion. That is my point.
Starting point is 02:04:34 So you're wrong. I agree with you and just from the standpoint of what is the point of giving your opinion to the public? The point of giving your opinion to the public is to potentially try to sway or influence people. Yeah. It's the name. So that's the thing. What you've taken with that poisonous person is taking is, is that the brand of influencer. Yes.
Starting point is 02:04:56 in the brand aspect of what an influencer is, that's not what critics are. But the definition of the word is it. Comic lover. Ron H. Mom sounds awesome. Mine taught me how to mix or drinks. Oh, man. I'm basically Tom Cruise buying the bar.
Starting point is 02:05:14 Oh, shit. Friend just woke up time for round 14. Good Lord. I don't know what the hell is going on over there. Mr. I crap and shit. Lepidna young going the Odyssey, given Helen of Troy that cake. It's a great pick.
Starting point is 02:05:26 Great, beautiful, and talented actress. Skin color is not issue. She does have a Tushy Man. Woo. Yeah. Black Panther. Woof. Whiff.
Starting point is 02:05:33 Holy God. I was like, Wakanda Forever and D. God damn. Go pal. I did rewatch hackers recently. When I heard it, my brain changed into sneakers, which fits the rest of that comment. And I just rewatched after James Earl Jones past, great film.
Starting point is 02:05:49 Yeah. Do you know, speaking of James Earl Jones, which is why I'm so excited to continue watching Star Wars. so in rogue so by the way people who don't know sam and i we finished and or and we watched rogue one yesterday so when the first time she she sees vader in that tank and she goes what the hell is that she's like what's that and then vader shows up she's like oh my god she and then he starts talking she goes i know that voice who is that it was amazing i really wish i could have the experience that she's that's what i'm saying it's amazing i can't wait and i i i i really, I thought beforehand that she knew the reveal in Empire.
Starting point is 02:06:31 I heard yesterday, where you asked her, do you know Darth Vader's real name? And she goes, Darth Vader and you go, yep, Darth Vader. And so I'm like, I might, because I was, when we start watching, she's going to know that, she's going to know, I mean, that's just been in pop culture for someone. She's going to know that. I don't know who she is. I'm going to see if she actually reacts to Empire in the way that, you know, I didn't think she should, she would.
Starting point is 02:06:52 comic lover chris he about to pull a Wayne Brady I don't know what that is is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch with the minute the minute he was like
Starting point is 02:07:01 dude the verdict like he's saying you about the wall out he didn't look he didn't say it in a way that was I think and it being you know antagonistic
Starting point is 02:07:13 I just thought but but he just misconstrued the words the definition of it is accurate the word has been taken and misconstrued and been branded. That's the thing.
Starting point is 02:07:24 Comic lover. Christy, how do you do that? Okay. Wiley O.C., what is the song you think of when fourth comes around? Does not have to be the theme of the holiday. Mine is under the bridge by Red Hot Chili Puppers. Summertime by Will Smith. Oh, by Will Smith. That's a good one. For the fourth, um, uh, higher ground by Red Hot Chili Peppers because I'll never forget I went to see the Power Rangers movie, the very first one. Um, on Fourth of July when I was a kid. Like, it was out that weekend. And I just remember coming out to the
Starting point is 02:07:51 fireworks and I remember the fireworks and the thing so I forwarded higher ground Joey peddress X-Men 87 is such a beautiful example of how to tell deep emotional superhero stories on the screen excited for more season two yeah I got to dive back into it Iosha I don't buy corn sweat as a kryptonian if you know you know you know sure man I don't I don't know I don't know I don't know I think that's more is he is that is that more of the Odyssey stuff that we was talking about previously maybe maybe maybe or that was Yoshimitsu that said that page 79 Happy fourth to both you and have a great weekend.
Starting point is 02:08:23 Our pilot is coming to a TV all manifest. I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I cannot wait. And I will, and I will be doing a pretty, a day long live stream. Definitely decided on that as well, too, because like I said, I think that, and Paige, you tell me, like, I think that by setting that goal to let people realistically know, like I said, like that 13,000 number, like I want to be able to, Winston, I can envision myself already as Paige says of the manifest. I can envision myself after a couple, hopefully, hopefully after a couple of days.
Starting point is 02:08:50 So guys, guess what? We need 8,000 people. So we've been in 25 bucks. Guys, we need 6,000 people. We're 25 people away. 25 bucks. I feel like that's the route to go to let people know exactly what the hell it is, you know, what we need. So, and we're going to do it.
Starting point is 02:09:11 We're all going to make the show together. It's going to happen, bro. Yeah. All right. That's it. Winston A Marshall, where can the people find? You can find me at the Swaggy Blurder on all platforms. I'm putting out a video next week of where I think the DCU was going and why specific choices were made with Supergirls, so you don't want to miss that.
Starting point is 02:09:26 On Tuesdays, myself and John Roker, over on the John Roker channel, Spill the Tequila, getting into all the different pop culture and new stuff around that's going on. Blurds in the hood on Wednesdays, myself and Jay Washington, we started our Patreon, check that out. We just put out our Blurts going to feud. That is our family feud. And, oh, my God, it went off the wrong. rails so that that is out today and then obviously here on friday so if you follow me you'll be able to know where i'm at i know shimitsu said that we missed one of his super chats which oh uh i don't believe this we did that we did the the two odyssey casting ones
Starting point is 02:10:05 i am not sure which just just just type it here and i'll read it because i don't i don't see it let me see um see another one michael d me, Donald McLever. I respect your gangster. We now call you Chrissy glasses in these streets. That's fair. We Latin's let me tell you we came as white as Chrissy glasses and dark as Winston.
Starting point is 02:10:30 I'm waiting for Yoshimitsu to type out his thing so I can highlight it. But yeah, we got a lot going on. We got a lot going on over the next couple weeks. Ron H. Right back. Khalid's a great summer. Khalid's a great summer song, but big Willie summertime. That is a fucking track.
Starting point is 02:10:48 That's right there. Will Smith did that track. It's crazy that he did. Yeah, it's true. Yeah, so today, actually, no, I already released it. And or episodes 7, 8, 9 are up on the channel. 10 and 11 television hit on Tuesday Invincible, season two, episodes four, wait, three and four, three and four.
Starting point is 02:11:09 Hit next week, hit next Wednesday. Friday. I know. I should be superchap, which one? Oh, here it is. Okay. It was how long before fully made AI film his theaters? There you go.
Starting point is 02:11:24 That, I already think, what's his face is working on that? Who is it? Shoot. Oh, which director? Not Eggers. Who was it? There's a director that's working on one. Oh, man, and Roku went nuts on it.
Starting point is 02:11:35 I can't remember who it was. Well, there's also, they're using Val Kilmer fully. Yeah, but that's only one guy, like a fully made. or fully made AI film, it will happen. But it's got, but it can't be, it can't be the ones that I'm talking with, the robotic stuff.
Starting point is 02:11:52 It just can't be. Like, there will be full on, people are going to start to sign, the business will, is Darren Aronofsky, it's exactly who it was. Um,
Starting point is 02:12:01 it will change eventually. And people will start signing their likeness. More and more people will start doing it. And you're going, I'm telling you like, I'm saying this for, years. You're going to see a young Bruce Willis in Diehard again. You're going to see those things. You'll see it eventually. But it's got to be when it's mastered and not, hey, where's Holly?
Starting point is 02:12:23 Oh, I'm upset right now. Oh, I'm happy right now. That like that stuff, that that's got to go away. But eventually we'll have now. It's going to be a huge debate and people boycotting it and other shit too. It'll definitely happen for sure. Okay. Thank you for being here.
